The era of pretty boys with pretty, long man-bangs is over! Thank God. Because Zac Efron’s hair was getting ridiculous. The short-haired Young Hot Hollywood trendsetter was none other than Chace Crawford. Chace debuted his shorted hair last week to much fanfare on the Gossip Girl set – he actually looks pretty good, although Lainey is calling him an elf. Next up was Zac Efron, who finally trimmed his out-of-control man-bangs and decided to go for a more conservative look. Now Gatecrasher is pointing out the The Era of the Man-Bangs is Over, pointing out that it’s not just Chace and copycat Zac – it’s Jared Leto too. But who cares about Jared Leto?

Three of the poster boys for long locks — Chace Crawford, Jared Leto and Zac Efron — are trying out shorter looks. There must have been a memo floating around Hollywood last weekend, ’cause they all flaunted their new ’dos for the Fourth.

Celebrity stylist Cecilia Care told us the radical cuts could be a result of the boys wanting to be seen as men. “When stars drastically change their image, it’s usually because they want better or more mature roles,” Care noted.

Even so, she couldn’t help but be surprised by the actors’ drastic transformations. “Their hair was each of their signature looks,” Care said. “It’ll be interesting to see how the girls react to them now.”

We have a feeling that for these hotties, girls will keep on coming … bangs or no bangs!

I’m not sure when it became popular for guys to wear really long bangs, but it’s a horrible look that deserved to die. In Zac’s case, he does look a lot younger with his short haircut – but in Chace Crawford’s case, he looks more sophisticated. It’s like my cougar sense is tingling. But you know what? Even though these boys are changing their looks, doesn’t mean they’ll be up for more “mature” parts. These boys are still awfully pretty. Much prettier than me.

Chace Crawford topped People’s list of the hottest bachelors. And frankly, I don’t get it. I mean he’s there and he’s fine. But so are a bunch of other dudes. He does have really nice eyes though… no. I’m still not going for it. He might be pretty to look at, but he just doesn’t exude personality to me, and that’s got to factor in a little, right? Right?

Last week Chace’s publicist was extra hard at work – he was in Star, the National Enquirer, and In Touch – all reporting that he’s dating 19-year-old Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Esti Ginzburg. They’re filming the movie “Twelve” together. Perhaps that’s the reason for the sudden deletion of the paragraph about his singlehood? After all, People’s only calling him the hottest bachelor – that just means he’s unmarried. Sounds like Esti might already have Chace on a tight leash.

Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford has been announced as the star of the upcoming big screen musical remake of Footloose. High School Musical star Zac Efron was originally offered the role, but turned it down for fear of being typecast as the teen heart-throb sing and dance guy:

Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford will be kicking off his Sunday shoes in the remake of Footloose, stepping into the void left behind when Zac Efron dropped out.

Crawford, 23, will play Ren McCormack, the rebellious dancing high schooler who launched the career of a then 25-year-old Kevin Bacon, Paramount Pictures has announced.

In a recent PEOPLE poll, readers were into the idea, but Crawford still trailed front-runner Derek Hough as a replacement for Efron (followed by David Cook and Bow Wow).

High School Musical star Efron told EW.com he passed on the role because he didn’t want to be type-cast as the musical guy and was searching instead for “the unknown.”

Footloose, to be directed by High School Musical’s Kenny Ortega, is set to begin shooting in March 2010

This movie was out before I was even a tween and I don’t have strong feelings about a remake either way. It was a fun film from what I remember and if they do it right it could be a crowd-pleasing hit. A lot of people are fed up with re-makes, though, and think that Hollywood really needs to come up with some new ideas instead of falling back on films that were past favorites.

Now there’s talk that the re-do might get all the more annoying with Miley Cyrus playing the female lead opposite Crawford. She certainly has enough fans that would flock to see it:

Miley Cyrus is the latest hot young thing being considered for the leading lady role in the remake of the song-and-dance extravaganza, E! News has exclusively learned.

“They’ve expressed interest in Miley for the part,” a source close to the tween queen said.
A source close to the production further added that Cyrus “is definitely in the mix.”

As it stands, that mix currently includes Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough, all of whom have auditioned in recent weeks for the part of Ariel Moore, the independent-minded daughter of a preacher man, originated in the 1984 classic by Lori Singer.

One starlet who hasn’t auditioned for the role: That’d be Cyrus. Presumably because her singing, dancing, and audience-pulling prowess has already been proven.

While Cyrus’ reps had no comment on the potential casting coup, it may be a bit premature for her to sign on the dotted line just yet. The film has a release date of June 18, 2010, and Cyrus’ schedule is already booked full through the end of summer.

E! notes that Miley is next working on the film The Last Song, based on an unpublished book by Nicholas Sparks. It starts filming in less than a month. Despite how busy she is, I bet Miley can squeeze in enough time for Footloose if she’s offered the role. She’s only 16 and seems a little young to play opposite 23 year-old Crawford, but her character is supposed to be a high school student and she’s just the right age. If anything Crawford is a little old. Kevin Bacon was 26 when he starred in the original film, though.

Zac Efron, the song and dance star of the High School Musical franchise and the upcoming 17 Again, decided that he didn’t want to be typecast and has dropped out of a remake of Kevin Bacon’s Footloose. Instead, Chace Crawford has been selected as a possible contender for the role.

Soon after word got out that Zefron was singing a different tune about taking on the role originated by Kevin Bacon, Crawford’s name was popping up on entertainment and gossip blogs and websites as the top suggested man to replace him.

Despite Efron’s change of heart, Paramount Studios said director Kenny Ortega and über-producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are still committed to updating the classic ’80s musical for a new generation of moviegoers.

The remake was put on the fast track in the fall for a 2010 release after Efron & Co. hit box-office gold with the third installment of the High School Musical movie franchise.

The news of Chace’s possible role has apparently gotten him a little too much attention from the fans, as his female followers have been serenading him with songs from Footloose on the streets of NYC. Therefore, he’s decided to spend his hiatus from Gossip Girl back in Texas.

No one knows if he can dance (though presumably he wouldn’t be up for the part if he couldn’t), but he, Zac, and Kevin look creepily alike, so at least they’ve got the looks department down. Zac’s leftovers might just be the perfect vehicle for Chace. He’s the star of the melodramatic Gossip Girl and was also recently in a horror film (The Haunting of Molly Hartley), and Footloose would let us get to see a more lighthearted side to him.

OK Magazine seems to think they know the real deal behind Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson’s problems. According to the mag, Lindsay was spotted stopping by “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford’s apartment at six in the morning. All of this while Samantha is supposedly recuperating from an ear infection in Los Angeles.

While the cat’s away, the mice play — that’s how the saying goes, at least. And, though she’s denying any trouble in her romance with girlfriend Sam Ronson, Lindsay Lohan has only been feeding the rumor mill with her behavior.

See, while Sam has been recuperating from an alleged ear infection in Los Angeles, Lindsay’s been party-hopping, and according to TMZ, that includes a 6am pop-in visit to the Big Apple apartment of Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford.

While the I Know Who Killed Me star denied any illicit goings-on with Sir Chace of Sexyshire, there is a bit of little-known history between the two young stars.

Back in Oct. 2008, Linds made no secret of her crush on Chace. The twosome met at the Diesel XXX Rock Party in NYC and swapped numbers and an insider tells OK! that Lindsay texted Chace nonstop.

“She has a habit of over texting people, especially when she’s attracted to them which is what happened with Chace. She’d have insomnia and he’d wake up to 5 or 6 text messages asking what he was up to. She has a habit of getting bored in the middle of the night and likes to flirt and get attention in order to keep her busy. Chace never acted on some of the things she suggested like meeting up, it was a little stalker like and creepy to be honest. He was just trying to be friendly!”

I don’t know much about Chace Crawford, but somehow he seems too classy to hook up with Lohan. I mean that’s practically career suicide – no one respects you once you’re linked to Lindsay. And it’s fair to point out that other people obviously live in Crawford’s building – in fact, Crawford is roommates with his “Gossip Girl” costar Ed Westwick. Considering the way Lohan gets around, she could have been there for anyone.

It seems like the relationship between Lohan and Ronson is on its last legs. I get the feeling Lindsay’s just keeping it alive for the publicity – it doesn’t look like there’s anything left between the two. Once Lohan goes back to hooking up with every guy in town, people aren’t going to care anymore. Really, all she’s got left, novelty-wise, is dating someone really, really old or really, really wealthy. She’s hooked up with everyone else.

When the celebrity-chasing press have made more than a covert speculation you’re gay and you’re trying to disspell the rumor, making a public statement that you would love to “pull off a Kevin Spacey” isn’t going to help your argument. Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, though, means it in the best way, saying that Spacey is one of the most versatile actors today.

Crawford admits his pretty-boy image can limit him but he wants to rise above it and play meatier roles, and you can’t blame him for that. I don’t think Chase has the kind of leading-boy looks that will translate to leading-30 something man looks, so he would do well to concentrate of the art of acting. For the time being, he’s got the girls, and boys in alot of cases, swooning, so at least he can make some money on that before he has to worry about just how good his acting chops are. His healthly dose of confidence certainly won’t hurt, either.

I actually find it refreshing to hear an actor from an all-the-pretty-people, teen geared show like Gossip Girl talking about looking forward to something more than playing the hottie in a slew of teen movies. Zac Efron doesn’t seem to be worried about much more than what his next musical for Disney will be, which is what we’re used to hearing out of these pretty young things. Having the ambition to reach for better roles and the ability to play them the way that Kevin Spacey has done is admirable. Just steer clear of spanking club-boy’s bare asses in eastern European countries and you should be fine, Chase.

The Mirror seems to think that Lindsay Lohan is really confused. I think she’s just very open minded/fairly skanky. According to the British tab, Lohan gave her number to “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford at a recent party in New York, and has been hounding him ever since. She calls and texts upwards of four times a day, and is apparently incapable of getting the hint that he’s just not interested.

Old Lohan would have been even more frightening. I guess I’m an old lady, because I barely know who JC Chasez is, and have absolutely no idea who this Chace Crawford person is. All I know is, he has a soap opera name and he is prettier than most girls I know. Anyway, these two marginally famous pretty boys insist that they are nothing more than straight friends, despite rumors circulating to the contrary.

The Globe notes all the times these two have been seen out together, including Elton Jonn’s Oscar party, New Year’s Eve at the Raleigh hotel in Miami and in September at the Gramercy Park in NY. They say they’re “inseparable.”

If they’re more than friends and are together that’s great for them. These two are both attractive young guys and they make a really cute couple. I hope you enjoyed my football pun in the title because that is all I’ve got when it comes to sport related humor. I am as familiar with football as Peter Doherty is familiar with a shower. The celeb-fueled story involves the adorable Carrie Underwood and former flame Tony Romo of the Cowboys. The two called in quits recently and have already moved on. Carrie admitted that she knew her relationship with the quarterback was “doomed” from the start. Football came first and people started blaming poor performances on his focus on the beautiful Ms. Underwood.
