Chris Noth, 58, finally married his 30-year-old baby-mama Tara Wilson

As I was looking through photos for this post, it finally struck me at long last: Chris Noth really adores the hell out of baby-mama Tara Wilson. I’d never paid that much attention to Noth’s situation, only taking a moment to note that his girl was much younger than him and that she looked mixed race (which made me wonder if Chris would be into me, and thus, my mind wandered). But as I looked through these pics, I discovered something awesome – Chris looks like he’s really into her. He looks like he could just eat her up. Which also makes my mind wander. Pay attention! As I was saying, Chris and Tara finally got hitched. They’ve been together forever and they’re already parents to a 4-year-old son!

Mr. Big is officially off the market. Sex and the City heartthrob Chris Noth married his longtime fiancée, Tara Wilson, on April 6, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple – engaged since 2009 and already parents to 4-year-old son Orion Christopher – wed on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

Noth, 58, met Wilson when she worked at his New York City bar, the Cutting Room.

The actor currently stars on The Good Wife.

[From People]

I love Noth on The Good Wife. I loved him as Mr. Big too, and I loved him on Law & Order (and L&O: CI). There’s something to be said about a handsome, underrated actor who has worked steadily in television for years and years. Sure, he’s done movies and theater too, but he’s most definitely a television actor, and God bless.

Anyway, congrats to Tara and Chris. He’s 58, she’s 30. Which is… inappropriate. But they’ve been together for so long already, and they already have the kid… which makes me think that they’ll make it. For a while, at least. Fingers crossed.

Chris Noth calls his old show L&O: Criminal Intent “mind-numbing”

wenn3173206
Chris Noth is an underappreciated actor, probably because he seems like a bit of a prick in real life. Yet he still keeps getting plum roles, like in The Good Wife or as the iconic Big in Sex & the City. But to me, he’ll always be Detective Mike Logan from Law & Order. The original Law & Order, that is. I couldn’t watch him on that spinoff Criminal Intent because I really disliked the show, and it turns out Noth feels the same way.

I wasn’t happy on that show. I was a little happier when Julianne Nicholson joined me. But I found that show preposterous. Mind-numbing. I feel bad because I was one of the persons who helped start that thing originally, back with Jerry Orbach. I was unhappy on that show. I had a great deal, but it was torturous. Sometimes the actor in me says, “You’re getting way too comfortable.” And then I need to move on.

[Watch!, print edition, February 2011]

I miss Jerry Orbach.

Noth also admits he has no more interest in the character of Mr. Big, although that’s who he’s recognized as most on the street.

He’s much happier on The Good Wife.

Ah, The Good Wife is different. I’m part of a great show. I’m part of something bigger than myself. The atmosphere is great, the people are happy to be there, [show creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King] are inclusive and approachable. Julianna Margulies has an impeccable work ethic. Alan Cumming, I’m loving working with him.

[Watch!, print edition, February 2011]

I never got into The Good Wife. I think it’s a good show, but it just didn’t pique my interest.

Chris got a Golden Globe nomination and the show’s cast is nominated for a SAG award, so that should hopefully keep him happy.

The Good Wife airs Tuesdays at 10PM on CBS.

Chris Noth: the press killed the Sex & The City franchise, it’s dead

wenn3006390
There have been conflicting reports as to whether Sex and The City is going to come back for a three-quel, but the consensus has generally been that it’s over. The last film underperformed at the box office and was lambasted by critics. It wasn’t a complete failure, but it didn’t do as well as was expected and was a disappointment on many levels. Most people place the blame for the franchise’s demise on creator Michael Patrick King and star Sarah Jessica Parker for whipping up a sequel that sucked the charm out of the television series and left us with soulless consumerism and dumb jokes. According to Chris Noth, who played Parker’s flaky love interest, Mr. Big, it’s all the critics’ fault for not liking the movie. He told the press at a recent premiere that “The franchise is dead. The press killed it.” Way to blame the messenger.

Chris Noth does not actually appear in Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directorial debut Jack Goes Boating, a drama starring John Ortiz and PSH himself as a pair of limo drivers in complicated romantic relationships. Still, it’s a good thing we caught up with Noth at the movie’s premiere last week, because he had interesting things to say about Sex and the City. Take it away, Mr. Big: “It’s over. The franchise is dead. The press killed it. Your magazine f’ing killed it. New York Magazine. It’s like all the critics got together and said, ‘This franchise must die.’ Because they all had the exact same review. It’s like they didn’t see the movie. Got any more gum?” (Note: That’s not a reference to anything. He really asked us if we had any more gum.)

[From NY Magazine via OK!]

The critics didn’t kill that franchise, it committed suicide by stiletto and everyone saw it and commented on it. There was nothing conspiratorial about the bad reviews. If something stinks to high heaven people notice and usually agree about it.

Maybe Noth was joking around, but it at least sounds like he’s upset about the fact that he’s not going to get a fat paycheck for the third film. Kim Cattrall has been open about the fact that she’ll continue to play Samantha as long as she gets paid (she said “as long as the audience is there” but we know what she means) Thankfully she won’t get another chance.

Is Chris Noth cheating on his baby-mama/fiancé? (update: probably not)

100701x4_noth_b-gr_01

Update – we received this e-mail from HBO: “We represent Chris Noth and please know the woman in these photo is Diane Lang. Diane is Chris Noth’s agent in Canada. Chris was in Spain accepting an award from GQ and Zegna. Chris Noth attended ‘GQ and Ermenegildo Zegna Elegant Men of The Year’ awards ceremony at the Italian Embassy on July 1, 2010 in Madrid, Spain. Diane Lang was his guest.”

When I first saw these photos of Chris Noth and some mystery woman, out and about in Madrid yesterday, I thought that the girl is probably his assistant, or someone working for him. But Bauer-Griffin notes that Chris was “unhappy” that photographers were snapping photos of him and this girl, and that was “trying to avoid” them. Which could just mean that he didn’t want to be bothered, not that he’s having an affair.

Chris has been with his 28-year-old baby mama Tara Wilson for several years. Tara gave birth to their son Orion Noth in 2008, and they got engaged last year. Is there trouble in paradise? Could be. There’s this good blind item that many, many people think is about Chris and his situation.

This one becomes juicy because of who it involves. This soclose to A list television actor who has been in movies, but is only really known for ones that involved a television character he plays cheated on his D list actress girlfriend. While she was pregnant. More than once.

[From Blind Gossip]

But is Tara pregnant right now? And is she an actress? Yes, she is an actress, and I don’t think she’s pregnant right now. And I could buy that Chris is cheating on Tara, but with the chick in these photos from Spain? Not so much. He’s probably cheating on her with someone even younger.

Chris Noth, 54, gets engaged to his 27-year-old baby-mama

chris north 210409

Even though I’m a big fan, I don’t really follow Chris Noth’s personal life. This is mainly because I’ve always sort of assumed that he’s not as cool as he seems on Sex and the City and Law & Order. Not that Mr. Big is really that cool – he seems like a jerk, if truth be told. But I love Detective Logan. He’s such a great cop. And he stands up for the disenfranchised, too! Sigh. By the way, you know that Chris has left Criminal Intent for good – and Vincent D’Onofrio is on the way out too! That just leaves Jeff Golblum, who is woefully miscast. We need to petition Dick Wolf to bring back Goran and Logan!

Anyway, since I don’t really follow Chris Noth’s personal life, this came as a complete surprise to me. I remembered something vague about him having a kid with his girlfriend, and now it looks like he’s actually going to marry his baby-mama. Her name is Tara Wilson, and she’s 27 years old. Chris is 54. She is exactly half his age. They have a son together, Orion Noth, born in January of 2008.

Sex and the City star Chris Noth and his longtime girlfriend, actress Tara Wilson, are engaged, Entertainment Tonight Canada is reporting.

Noth, 54, broke the news to the show Sunday during an interview at the London, Ontario, outpost of Once Upon A Tea Cup, a teahouse of which he and Canadian-born Wilson, 27, are partners.

The couple, who met when Wilson worked at Noth’s New York City bar, the Cutting Room, have a son, Orion Christopher Noth, who turns two in January.

In mid-September, Noth denied a U.K. report that he and Wilson were engaged at the time.

A rep for Noth did not immediately return a request seeking comment.

[From People]

Congratulations to the happy couple! Although I’m biting my tongue to avoid saying something like “no fool like an old fool…” I’m actually very happy for Chris. Though he’s probably not as cool as Det. Logan (swoon), I still think Chris seems like a pretty nice guy. Maybe Tara is his soulmate. Or maybe he’s just a good guy who wants to marry the mother of his child. Swoon!

Sarah Jessica Parker confirms that Chris Noth is in SATC sequel

wenn2393320
While talking to reporters at the Tribeca Film Festival, Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed that Chris Noth will reprise his role as Mr. Big in the second Sex and the City sequel. The sequel will be out May 2010, and even though they haven’t even started filming yet, there has already been enough leaks to sink a battleship.

It’s a smart move for Noth, who lost his steady gig on Law and Order: Criminal Intent for reasons unknown. The rumor last year was a contractual/money dispute, but neither Noth nor L&O producers confirmed that. Noth was replaced by Jeff Goldblum on L&O: CI, and Goldblum’s first episode just premiered on Sunday – he was pretty good. No Chris Noth, but good. I actually prefer Noth as a hardened New York Major Cases detective rather than a commitment-phobic bastard on SATC, but any reason to see him is fine with me.

Breathe easy, Sex and the City fans. Mr. Big is back.

At the Wonderful World premiere Monday during the Tribeca Film Festival, Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed to E! News that nail-biting can cease—Chris Noth has signed on for the movie sequel.

Just what he’ll be doing there is another story. When last we checked, Carrie and Big finally tied the knot. Perhaps the pitter-patter of little feet are in the future…

“I don’t know anything yet,” she said (looking stunning in Narciso Rodriguez, BTW).

Dancing With the Stars stud Gilles Marini may also get to reprise his role as the sizzling—and often naked—neighbor and love interest to Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones.
“I don’t have a clue,” Parker said. “I don’t know anything specific about a story for him, but it’s very possible.”

All four ladies, as well as writer-director Michael Patrick King are set to return for Sex and the City 2, due in theaters May 28, 2010.

From E! Online

Spoilers below
So what are some of the bigger SPOILERS? OK! Magazine has a few more rumors – apparently Charlotte is obsessed with Michelle Obama and J.Crew. And perhaps Mr. Big and Carrie move to London, and of course, they might have a baby. I really hope the writers don’t pull the baby stuff with Carrie and Big. They’re too self-absorbed! They would make awful parents!

As we await the Sex and the City sequel — due in May 2010 — we couldn’t help but wonder about all those rumors burning up the Internet. The storyline reportedly relocates Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) to London, where hubby Big (Chris Noth) takes a job — and may or may not cheat on Carrie, who may or may not be pregnant.

So where does [First Lady Michelle Obama] come in? Charlotte (Kristin Davis) says of a dress, “I got this at J. Crew,” explaining that she saw it on Mrs. Obama and “had to have it.” Last, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) gets buried in the economic collapse, so maybe there won’t be shoes after all.

From OK! Magazine

Ugh, I really hope they don’t try to make SATC: The Sequel “real”. It’s escapism! That’s why women love SATC… we know we can’t dress like that or live those lives or get into bed with Chris Noth. So don’t try to make it some sort of hardcore drama about the economy in New York. That would be like going to a movie about the Wall Street Journal editorial board. Give us the shoes!

Chris Noth isn’t a fan of Victoria’s Secret, SJP makes light of Kim Cattrall conflict

Before you spend a lot of money on Victoria’s Secret Lingerie to impress a special man, just make sure you think it is going to work for him. Chris Noth reminds us that not all men are turned on by frilly underthings:

He tells WENN, “I’m not into Victoria’s Secret so much. I find it over the top. I like subtlety and I like elegance. I think their things are gaudy and they are really trying too hard. If I could make a fashion statement, I think that Victoria’s Secret looks to me like somebody who is putting on too much make-up. It’s too gaudy, man.

“I mean, come on take it easy, you don’t have to have a f**kin’ bouquet of flowers on your underwear. Sorry Victoria’s Secret; I hope they’re not one of our sponsors!”

StarPulse

Maybe he likes lingerie, but the elegant kind that doesn’t have girly prints or too much lace.

Sarah Jessica Parker is also talking down Kim Cattrall’s comments that she did, absolutely, hold out for more money before she would commit to the film.

Even as they were filming those last scenes in Paris, Parker and her collaborator, writer-director Michael Patrick King, were kicking around a movie concept. King’s original pitch sounds like a palate cleanser intended to follow the hype surrounding the series finale—it was a light, summery, Bob Hope–style road movie, with the girls following separate paths. “Then the deals weren’t happening,” King tells me. “And the money people didn’t believe in it.”

Parker’s co-star Kim Cattrall reportedly scuttled the project, wanting more money and creative control. “If I had thought it was any of my business at the time,” Parker tells me carefully, “what I would have said is, ‘Isn’t it okay for Kim to think that the money wasn’t right?’” (She also drily notes, “Perhaps she was some kind of emotional psychic, because this way we made a better movie.”)

New York Magazine

I’m glad that it has worked out for the best, and since Kim’s stand for more money held off production on the movie, it kind of proves that she was worth it. The movie could not be made without her, so the four main characters should have had very similar salaries. At this point, it seems that Kim was paid $6million, Sarah Jessica Parker made $10million (with an extra $5million for producing the film) and Cynthia Nixon and Kriten Davis were each paid $2million.

Chris Noth is shown kissing Sarah Jessica Parker in a scene from the Sex and The City Movie, filmed on 9/19/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

The Sex and The City women talk to Oprah about their lives & loves

The Sex and The City stars were on Oprah yesterday in front of an audience that had screened the film the day before. There was a lot of screaming and enthusiasm for the cast and Oprah raved about how great the movie is. It’s out in the US on May 30. The studio audience had seen most of the film but were not allowed to see the end because they didn’t want all of the plot to get out. The women answered questions about their lives and their work and Mr. Big Chris Noth even came on and talked about his new baby son. Oprah didn’t ask them the standard question about whether they fought at all, and Kristin Davis wasn’t asked about her nude photos that were leaked earlier this year.

On fans surrounding them as they filmed in NY City, and the “dream sequence” story
Kim Cattrall: “I felt like a Beatle”
SJP: “You can’t be anything other than thrilled that people still care.”
Kristin Davis: “There were people writing down the dialog.”
SJP: “We kept going around saying ‘This is some crazy dream sequence we’re filming.’ We kept repeating this mantra to try and gaslight people a little.”
Oprah: “When you showed up in a wedding gown…”
SJP: “That crazy dream sequence”

Cynthia Nixon on her breast cancer scare and same sex partner
Cynthia Nixon talked about discovering breast cancer, and said “I did not cry.”

She talked in a matter of fact way about how she did radiation and had a lumpectomy and a lymph node taken out.

As for how Nixon fell in love with a woman and told her friends, she said “Kristin knew about it first” and Davis said “I know her. I know Christine,” and Nixon said “and then I think other people were left to fend for themselves when it all erupted and these ladies did great and so did Mr. Noth who I know is coming out later [crowd screams]

They were great the things they said to the press.”

SJP: “I think we all know Cynthia so well. She’s such a capable smart thinking person and our greatest concern was that Cynthia be happy… her happiness is everything.”

Oprah: “I heard you just sort of met Christine, fell in love and it didn’t matter to you whether she was male or female or what… how does that work?”

Nixon: “You haven’t met my girlfriend, she’s fantastic.” [others agree]

Davis: “What is love? I think that’s the important thing. There’s something real and intangible and solid about it, and that’s how I feel when I’m around them. It’s just undeniable.”

Kim Cattrall on her younger chef boyfriend
Oprah – to Kim Cattrall: “I hear you’re with a younger guy now.”

Catrall laughs. Oprah: “Did you have a limit to how young? Or is love is love.”

Cattrall: “As long as he has his driver’s license.

“He is 23 years younger than me and I wondered ‘what could we possibly talk about?’ but we talk about a lot of things, and he’s a professional chef, so it’s not just good in some areas of the house it’s good in all areas of the house. And he’s very sophisticated, he’s very zen.”

Oprah asked if it was true that they like cooking in the nude together. Kim said that wasn’t true.

Kristin Davis on feeling great in her 40s
Kristin Davis said she wasn’t happy in her 20s and didn’t know who she was. SJP said the 20s are about exploration.

Davis said that when she hit 40 the show ended and she wondered what she would do at that point, and she said it made her realize that she wanted to take more pleasure in small things in life. She said “Oh life is so fantastic, but it’s so charged up… you want to be able to feel like you’re connected to the earth.”

Davis said she was tired after all the frenzy at the end of the show, and Kim Cattrall said she went into a funk when the show ended. Cynthia Nixon said she was in love so she didn’t get depressed at that point.

Chris Noth says his girlfriend was told that she would miscarry their baby
Chris Noth came on to a lot of screaming. Oprah first asked if he gained insight about women from working on the show and he answered “Never interrupt makeup sessions.”

Noth said coming back for the movie was a no-brainer and that it’s the best job in the world.

As for how much he’s like Big, he says “He’s a lot more self edited than me.”

Davis said “Chris is very very male… like a Alpha male thing.”

They were joking about how Chris was doing Law and Order at the same time and how he had to do prison scenes and how much of a contrast it was to Sex and The City.

They showed pictures of Chris with his baby son Orion, who is three and a half months old. He explained that the constellation Orion was the first one he would see in the sky when he was in college. He introduced his girlfriend Tara in the audience, and said “I’m so lucky.”

Noth told a heart wrenching story about how doctors told Tara after she first found out she was pregnant that they couldn’t find a heartbeat and that she would have a miscarriage. He said she talked to the baby all night and that the next day a heartbeat was found. He called Orion a fighter.

SJP talked about her five and a half year old son and said he asks a million questions. She said it helps her realize how much you know and how little you know.

They showed the amazing shoes, dresses and purses used for the costumes and all the women said that it was a lot of fun getting dressed for the show. SJP had 81 outfit changes.

They had the director Michael Patrick King on via Skype and he joked that he’s “cutting out all the imaginary dream sequences.”

The dream sequence explanation sounds like a ruse
From the comments that SJP gave you can kind of tell that the dream sequence story was one they made up on the spot to try and keep the paparazzi and fans from guessing plot points after scenes were photographed in NY. But given all the well-deserved hype surrounding this film, I think it’s safe to say that whatever details were leaked won’t deter people from seeing it.

Here are links to the videos of the show, including clips from the Sex and The City movie. There are commercials but you can easily skip them.
