Singer Christina Milian was married to music producer The Dream all of 10 months and had a 5 month-old daughter with him back when he was photographed ass grabbing his female assistant this July. The two then announced their separation, with Dream’s rep claiming they split up in late 2009.Divorce papers filed in February tend to support that, but whatever happened it looked like Milian was the wronged party. The Dream later issued a self-pitying statement in which he said that he and Christina were having problems or something and he was only human. He didn’t deny cheating or say that they were split up at the time.

Judging from Christina’s latest interview, she was just as surprised by the photos as everyone else.

29-year-old singer/actress Christina Milian sat down to talk to us exclusively about the cheating scandal that ended her marriage to The-Dream (aka Terius Nash), and how she made it through “hell and back” to relish her new life as a single mom.

On her failed marriage: “No matter what, you can’t change who you are. I know that now. I tried to be someone I wasn’t because I wanted my marriage to work. But ultimately, if it’s not working, it’s not working.”

On the cheating scandal: “I didn’t know anything. But looking back, my gut was telling me something was off. But I thought I could fix it.”

On lessons learned: “I learned a lot about myself this year. I learned what I can handle. I learned how much I can take. I learned who I am and what I will accept for myself and my daughter.”

On becoming a mom: “Being a new mother definitely makes me feel so much sexier than ever before. There’s a certain responsibility that I carry being a mom that makes me feel very confident and so blessed. Being a mom is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

On what’s next: “I feel brand new. I’ve been to hell and back, but I survived. I’m stronger for it and now I’m ready for the next phase of my life.”

You see a lot of photos of Christina out with her adorable daughter, Violet, and she looks like such a loving mom. It had to hurt so much to see those photos of her husband with his personal assistant, but at least her suspicions were confirmed. If the guy wasn’t so thoroughly busted he surely would have lied to her about it, continued to treat her like sh*t and then justify his behavior because they were having “problems.” Now she can move on with her life and hopefully make better choices in men.

I know a lot of you are going to be like “who are these people?” when you read the headline. Even if you’re not familiar with singer/actress Christina Milian and her husband, producer The Dream, (and I only know them from gossip and event appearances) this is a very interesting story that now has a heartfelt apology and half-assed explanation attached. Here’s the background: Milian was married to The Dream (real name Terius Nash) in September, 2009. They had daughter Violet just this February. Then photos surfaced of Nash on vacation with his female personal assistant embracing and frolicking in the water. They weren’t just hanging out either, they were hanging on each other and in one photo the woman had her legs up around him. Nash and Milian then announced their separation less than a day later.

Now Nash is blogging his side of the story. He sounds very sorry and contrite, but he doesn’t say he was split up with Milian when he took up with his personal assistant. He says in a roundabout way that they were having problems and he fell out of love with her. So did the cheating start before or after they were having problems? Because of course you’re going to have problems at home when you’ve got something on the side. Did he fall out of love before or after he fell in love with another woman? He also adds that he was in despair and considered suicide. Again, was that before or after he started cheating on his wife and baby’s mother after just a few months? I appreciate how upfront and seemingly responsible he’s trying to sound. However, he might just be trying to paint himself as a good guy when it’s clear that he acted as anything but:

First I want to thank God for the trials of life, without them we can’t know purpose!

I would love to tell the truth as to why my relationship wasn’t successful, but today that is between me and Christina. Its easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT.

I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for misleading everyone into thinking everything was fine and okay when we knew problems existed for awhile! I wanted to speak up but we decided it wasn’t for anyone to know. I would NEVER intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that! There was so much going on in me and Christina’s personal world that I tried to deal with it as delicately as I could and tried to regain my footing. Instead of being direct in order not to cause even more hurt or hurt someone’s feelings, I carried the weight in secret!

I am Human and people fall in and out of Love all the time… This is Life. Nothing’s promised or perfect, neither am I. I am not proud that I lost something we once had…LOVE! I’ve always been a Loving Father, Hard Worker, Generous, Stern and Eager to prove myself. My faults are I can be irresponsible and an ass sometimes, but I HAVE NEVER and WILL NEVER be a malicious person or wish harm to anyone, especially those I love or the mother of my child. I’m sorry for the embarrassment to everyone involved! If there’s anyone to blame and you can’t fathom this happening, please blame me and me alone for not being upfront! Even though we were trying to overcome personal things between us, I was just simply scared and embarrassed to let everyone know we WERE FAILING and HAVE NOW FAILED!

This is not to justify anything, it’s true emotion! It’s a real thing that involves real people! I’ve cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I’ve tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming.

But I was reminded by my MOTHER that I am not “Superman” and its okay to lose sometimes…

This too shall pass! And everything will be fine!

So he didn’t mean to be malicious, and he’s sorry for hurting people, but he didn’t say he didn’t cheat. In fact it sounds to me like he cheated instead of facing the problems in his very new marriage. He doesn’t say “he” failed or that he’s the one who screwed everything up, no it was “we” who failed. How is a relationship supposed to thrive when one person is cheating? As nice as it is to hear someone say they’re sorry and they take responsibility, again I get the sense that this is a guy who hates to look bad. One that avoided conflict so much that he took up with someone else and let his wife find out about it online. Sad.

MediaTakeOut reports that singer Christina Milian is broke after being dumped by her label, DefJam, and that if she doesn’t get picked up by another record label soon she’s facing financial ruin. They say she’s resorted to selling her clothes on eBay to make ends meet. Milian dismissed those charges on her myspace blog, saying that she has plenty of projects in the pipeline and that she’s just selling her stuff on eBay for fun. (I doubt Tori Spelling is selling her stuff for fun, though.)

Milian seems a bit defensive, but anyone would get defensive at those charges, and it could be true that she’s doing fine. Her name on eBay is “BeatDownPrincess” however, suggesting that she’s having some trouble. What interests me is that she makes the dreaded all caps newbie mistake and has multiple spelling errors in her postings:

She includes pictures of herself at events wearing the clothes. That’s cute that she’s selling stuff on eBay, but her descriptions leave something to be desired.

Hopefully Christina’s singing career will pick up, because I don’t see her falling back on temp work.
