Kristy McNichol comes out – she wasn’t already out?

When I heard that former 70s teen star Kristy McNichol came out of the closet, I vaguely remembered her and assumed that she’d already been out. I know her from the 1980 movie Little Darlings, which came out when she was just 17. She was known for being a tomboy and I thought she came out as gay sometime in the late 80s or 90s, but I guess I was wrong. So it’s like deja vu hearing this story since I could have sworn I read it ages ago. Anyway McNichol, now 49, has a girlfriend and gave a kind of blurry low-res photo of the two of them to People along with a statement that she’s gay. She’s also been with the same partner for over 20 years! Good for her, but couldn’t she have released a clearer photo to go with this story?

Kristy McNichol has been out of the public eye for 20 years. Now she’s chosen to come out – to try to help kids who are being bullied.

McNichol, 49, who has lived with her partner Martie Allen, also 49, for the past two decades, decided to make a statement about her sexuality and share this photo because she is “approaching 50″ and wants to “be open about who I am.”

She “is very sad about kids being bullied,” her publicist Jeff Ballard tells PEOPLE. “She hopes that coming out can help kids who need support. She would like to help others who feel different.”

Best known for her Emmy Award-winning role as Buddy Lawrence in the ’70s show Family and later as Barbara Weston in Empty Nest, McNichol left it all behind when she dropped out of Hollywood to focus on her health.

Done with acting, McNichol spends her time focusing on tennis, yoga, travel and raising her beloved miniature dachshunds. “She is very happy and healthy,” says Ballard. “And she enjoys living a very private life.”

[From People]

I’m 38 and I don’t remember much about McNichol’s career, as most of it was before my time. A quick glance at wiki reveals that she kind of pissed away a chance at a movie career in the early 90s. She earned a repuation as being unreliable as she was doing drugs and was later diagnosed as being bipolar. It’s interesting to me that a lot of former 80s female stars have only come out recently. Top Gun star Kelly McGillis came out a few years ago at the age of 51. Family Ties’ Meredith Baxter also came out at 62. It’s a much different world now than it was in the 80s and it’s nice that people feel that they can be open about being gay. Even if some of these stories make me wonder why these celebrities we haven’t heard of in so long are making announcements. Wiki says that McNichol has been teaching acting in L.A. and devoting her life to charity work.

Rosie O’Donnell’s new girlfriend’s parents didn’t know their daughter was gay

rosiesgirlfriend
The Enquirer has an interview with the father of Rosie O’Donnell’s new girlfriend, NY-based businesswoman Michelle Rounds. Michelle’s dad goes on the record to say that he had no idea his daughter was a lesbian and adds that “it’s been hard to take.” Rosie first went public with Rounds at an event in late September. Rosie later dished about their relationship on the Howard Stern show, saying that she didn’t realize that Rounds was gay when she first met her at a Starbucks holding a cute puppy. She told Howard that she had met Michelle’s parents at that point (that’s at 1:10 into this video), saying “yes” when Howard asked her if she’d met Michelle’s parents and claiming “We’re gay women come on. We’ve met the family, we’re getting wedding invitations printed… I think it could be in the cards, it’s legal in New York. We’ve discussed it.” Only Michelle’s dad says that Rosie was lying, that he’s never met his daughter’s new girlfriend and is still trying to come to terms with the fact that his daughter is gay:

The parents of Rosie O’Donnell’s sexy new lover Michelle Rounds are devastated that their beautiful daughter has hooked up with the outspoken lesbian talk-show host.

What’s more, the ultra-conservative couple from upstate New York say Rosie’s a liar for claiming they’ve met her – and, even worse, they didn’t know their 40-year-old daughter was gay until Rosie publicly proclaimed the two had fallen head over heels in love.

“It totally hit us out of left field,” Michelle’s father Roger Rounds divulged in an exclusive ENQUIRER interview. “We only found out about Michelle liking girls when all this came out about them a few weeks ago. It’s been hard to take!”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, received via e-mail]

The Enquirer sent us that text as a teaser article and promises that in the full interview they’ll reveal “how Michelle’s parents first heard the news,” “Michelle’s parents hopes for her, now shattered, and how they raised her with traditional family values,” and “Michelle’s high school experiences and her dating life up until Rosie.” So this is a case of a women keeping the fact that she’s gay from her parents, and letting them find out by default through the press. The fact that they’re responding this way and are willing to talk about it to the Enquirer pretty much explains why their daughter didn’t break the news to them herself. I’m not a Rosie fan and I generally find her full of crap, but it’s not her fault that her partner wasn’t out to her family. Rosie shouldn’t have fibbed to Howard by claiming she’d met Michelle’s family though. Maybe she meant that she’d met a sister or brother or something. I get the vibe that this relationship won’t last long for Rosie. The last we heard, Rosie was pressuring Michelle to quit her job and move to Chicago to be with her, and was getting Michelle in trouble at work by calling her all day.

Zachary Quinto on the response to his coming out “I feel really grateful”

wenn35627791
Last week, we heard that Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto came out in an interview with NY Magazine, kind of dropping it as an aside. He referred to himself as a gay man but didn’t make a big deal about it at all or make it sound like an announcement. Quinto later made it clear that his admission was deliberate and planned, and that he came out in honor of a gay teen who recently committed suicide after enduring bullying because he was gay. It was really nice, and it was a great way to explain why he came out. It turns out that the response to Quinto has happily been overwhelmingly positive. He told E! in an interview that he’s still processing all the responses he’s been getting, and that he’s “just grateful to be able to participate in conversations more authentically now and to be able to stand up on behalf of people that aren’t quite ready to stand up on their own.” It was kind of heart warming for me to hear him say that, and I’m glad it’s going so well for him now.

You might say the level of support Star Trek star Zachary Quinto has received since coming out as a gay man is pretty much out of this world.

“I feel really grateful,” the actor told E! News at the New York City premiere of his new financial thriller Margin Call on Monday night regarding all the people who have reached out to him in the last couple of days. “It’s been an incredibly overwhelming experience for me, but all in a really positive way and I’m processing it as I’m going through it.”

But, for Quinto, it definitely goes beyond what other folks are saying to him. It’s also about what his revelation finally allows him to say.

“I’m just grateful to be able to participate in conversations more authentically now and to be able to stand up on behalf of people that aren’t quite ready to stand up on their own and give them whatever shred of light or hope in a real sea of darkness,” he said. “It’s a gift that I’ve been given to pass forward, and it’s an honor. And with honor comes responsibility and challenge, and I’ve just done what I can to face it every step of the way.”

[From E! Online]

He also called it an “honor” and he sounded really sincere about everything. You can see the video of this interview on E!’s website.

Did you hear about the ABC World News Now news anchor, Dan Kloeffler, who kind of casually came out on the air when he was reporting this story? I thought this was so funny. He first said that Quinto “came out in a very nonchalant way,” and then he proceeded to do the exact same thing. “He’s 34, I’m 35. I’m thinking I could lose my distraction about dating actors.” That was awesome. Later, Kloeffler explained thatfor the same reason that Zach decided to come out, I too, no longer wanted to hide this part of my life. There have been too many tragic endings and too many cases of bullying because of intolerance…as a journalist, I don’t want to be the story, but as a gay man I don’t want to stand silent if I can offer some inspiration or encouragement to kids that might be struggling with who they are.” Reading that, and reporting this story just makes me feel really happy. I’m proud of both these guys. I kind of hope they go on a date at some point too. Zach is probably thinking “what a copycat,” though.

Here’s the video of the ABC anchor coming out.

John Rich says Chely Wright misunderstood when he asked her if she was gay

45th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards - Arrivals
Your first response when reading this title might be “who are these people?” so I’ll recap. Chely Wright is a country singer with a few minor country hits. She had a number one country single in 1999 called “Single White Female,” and another hit with 1997′s “Shut Up and Drive” (not related to the Rihanna song) but if you’re not a country fan, or even if you are, you might not have heard of her. Wright just came out of the closet as the first country singer to openly admit they’re gay.

When I heard that Wright was announcing her orientation I assumed “well, she’s doing it for publicity after a stalled career.” That seems to be supported by the fact that she has a new album and memoir out. However, I saw Wright on The Today show yesterday (you can watch the video here) and she seemed both earnest and genuinely torn about coming out. She said that she’s Christian and a conservative and that she’s struggled with self acceptance of her orientation since she was a little girl. Wright wants people to know that it’s not incompatible to be gay and conservative and that no one needs to go what she went through. She almost committed suicide before she realized that she deserved to live an authentic life.

While explaining how she tried to keep her homosexuality a secret, Wright said that she encountered open resistance from people in her industry. She told a story about a guy named John Rich, from the country band “Big and Rich,” asking her if she was gay and telling her that it homosexuality was “sick,” “deviant,” and “unacceptable to country fans.” This encounter with Rich was a real turning point for Wright in that it was the first time she lied about her orientation, and it forced her to face the prejudices in her industry.

The news that Wright is recounting this incident has of course gotten back to John Rich, and he denies that it all went down that way. According to Rich’s account, he was just checking to see if a beautiful female country singer was available.

Country star JOHN RICH has fired back at quotes attributed to him in gay singer CHELY WRIGHT’snew memoirs, insisting she has misquoted him – and taken one remark he made 10 years ago way too far.

The Big & Rich star is upset Wright never spoke to him before going public with her book, Like Me, in which she states an offhand comment he made about her sexuality prompted a meltdown.

Talking about her new book on U.S. TV show Access Hollywood, Wright recalled the hurtful comments Rich, who has remained a close friend of hers, made a decade ago.

She said, “He said, ‘You’re not gay are you?!’ I said, ‘No, John, I’m not.’ He said, ‘Good, thank God.’ And that began a spiral for me. I had a meltdown shortly after that.”

But Rich insists Wright took his comments too far, and he’s appalled she has slammed him in her new tome.

He states, “I would never pass judgment on any friend of mine. I feel awful that, at this time in Chely’s life, my decade-old comment was taken the wrong way.

“I was clumsily trying to express my relief that even a country boy like me had a one-in-a-million chance of having a beer with a woman as talented and attractive as Chely. For years after that conversation, Chely invited me to perform at charity events. In all that time, I wish she would have said something directly to me before the book’s publicity tour, especially since some of the comments attributed to me in the book are not mine.”

But Rich has chosen to take the high road on the literary spat, insisting he’s happy for Wright and “I only wish her the best in her personal and professional life.”

[From Contact Music]

I don’t know much about this guy, but I like the way he handled that. He was defensive without getting upset about it. He’s saying that he had no idea Wright took his comments that way, that he didn’t exactly say that, and that he knew her for years and she never told him the effect that had on her. That’s fair enough, although he could have apologized for whatever way she took his comment, unintentional or not. Also, if he told her being gay is “sick,” “deviant” and “unacceptable” then he needs to clarify that he doesn’t hold those beliefs. (It’s possible that Rich doesn’t yet know that she said that about him on The Today show, though.)

I looked up Rich on Wikipedia, hoping that he was married when he confronted Wright and claims that he just wanted to date her. He wasn’t, but I learned that he campaigned for McCain in 2008 and even recorded a song for him. (Unlike the many other artists who said McCain used their music without permission.) That doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that he probably holds conservative positions on issues. I’ve often wished the guy who won that election would advocate to give overdue basic rights to gay and lesbian couples. It’s unacceptable that another generation will grow up and face the same ignorance and prejudice that drove Wright to consider suicide.

Chely Wright says keeping her orientation a secret almost led her to suicide

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

There was a lot of anticipation recently over the news that a “celebrity” would come out this week on the cover of People. Then the news got leaked that the “celebrity” was a country star named Chely Wright who had very poor name recognition. A lot of us, including me, shook our heads and thought that Wright was coming out in order to promote her new memoir and album release after a rough span in her career. That could be the case, but Wright’s story is still a very moving one, and now that I’ve heard it I’m glad she’s getting some publicity. She’s also not featured on this week’s People at all. The cover has come out – you can see it on Cover Awards (we’re gun shy after People sent us a DMCA notice for just the cover with Sandra Bullock’s baby) and it’s about Bret Michaels’ health scare. Wright isn’t even on an inset box this week. People has already put her story on their website, and may have made the decision to feature more saleable celebrities instead of Wright. It’s unknown if they ever meant to put her front and center or if that was just a rumor.

Chely was on The Today Show this morning (video is at the top of this page and on the Huffington Post) and after watching the interview I’m glad she’s getting coverage of her story. It’s an important one and she may help other closeted people understand that they’re not alone. I like that she said that being gay is not incompatible with being a Christian or being conservative.

Chely Wright, who just came out on the cover of People, visited the Today show Wednesday to talk about her conflicted sexuality.

Chely told Natalie Morales she had known she was different from other girls since third grade. “Please don’t let me be gay,” she would pray to God.

She said she felt like she had to stay closeted in the conservative country music community and even dated male country singers Brad Paisley and Vince Gill while in a secret long-term relationship with a woman. Eventually she could no longer live a double life.

“I had a 9 millimeter gun in my mouth,” she said. “I was taking inventory of my life and I realized I had pieces that I just couldn’t get to intersect. I was living a secret life and I was very much a country music celebrity, and I saw no way to get those to coexist. I gave up hope and I was ready to take my own life.”

Chely said that God eventually told her to tell the truth and now that she has it feels “incredible” and “as if it’s my birthday.”

[From Huffington Post]

Chely also said that John Rich from the band “Big and Rich” asked her about the rumors that she was gay and that she lied to him and told him she wasn’t. He told her that homosexuality was “sick, deviant,” and “unacceptable to country fans” which obviously didn’t help her tell the truth at the time. She said that now she’s not “afraid” or “ashamed,” now but that she hit rock bottom at one point about two and a half years ago and contemplated suicide. She prayed to God the next morning and said that she felt that he gave her a response that she needed to “tell the truth.” That’s so sad that she almost killed herself and prayed not to be gay when she was a little girl! She seems like such a sweet person and I’m glad that we were able to hear her story. Good for her for trying to break the stigma in country music and for coming out. I’m honestly sorry I doubted her motivations. Whatever they are/were, she deserves a lot of credit for putting herself out there.

You’ve never heard of the ‘celebrity’ coming out on the cover of People

wenn2821061
Before Sandra Bullock made her adorable surprising reveal on the cover of People last week, the big buzz was over this week’s upcoming issue in which a “celebrity” was going to come out on the cover. Past celebrities who have come out in People include Neil Patrick Harris, Lance Bass, and Clay Aiken. A lot of us assumed that the big reveal would be someone that we’ve suspected is gay, but who has been tight lipped about it up until now – like Queen Latifah. She has a new movie coming out, Just Wright, next week, so the timing would be good for her publicity-wise.

Only it turns out that the “celebrity” is someone most of us have never heard of, and it sounds like she’s doing this purely for publicity and not to clear the air. It’s a country singer named Chely Wright. While this is surely a big deal to Wright, and is supposedly some kind of first in country music, it doesn’t really seem to warrant the cover of People. Maybe they should have held over their “Most Beautiful” issue until this week and let Wright give her news inside the magazine, not on the front. We’ll see if it sells for them. Queerty has this news, and while they’re not 100% certain that Wright will grace the cover of People, they sound pretty sure:

It’s definitely not Oprah or Kevin Spacey. It’s almost certainly not Queen Latifah or Tyler Perry. And it’s likely not even Matt Bomer or Kelly Clarkson. And while the current favorite for May 5′s big celebrity coming out points to country singer Shelby Lynne, we’ve got a more informed entry: Chely Wright, the 39-year-old American County Music Award winner.

Why Wright? Our curiosity piqued when a source at People magazine — which has secured an interview and spread with the person — wrote us a one-line email: “Have you considered it might be Chely Wright?” We hadn’t! So we started doing some digging. (A Queerty commenter, while we were working on this item, even floated Wright’s name in our earlier post.)
As it turns out, Wright, who’s been absent from the industry for a half decade, has a new album and memoir coming out (hah!) May 4. The day before her planned big reveal. The book is titled Like Me: Confessions of a Heartland Country Singer. The album is titled Lifted Off The Ground. And both should see a huge spike in sales with the buzz of a coming out.

Wright, who was named in 2001 to People’s “Most Beautiful” list, has much to gain from coming out. Namely, financial gains. Her first major studio record debuted in 1994. She’s released six records since. Only one album, Single White Female in 1999, went gold; its self-titled single, hit No. 1 on the country charts. She’s never repeated that success. So here comes her seventh effort at hitting it big: Vanguard Records releases Lifted Off The Ground on Tuesday, and the publisher Pantheon releases Like Me the same day. Amazon.com describes the book as “a book of revelation: honest, inspiring and true.” Indeed!

(NB: What about Shelby Lynne’s publicist’s remarks? Lynne’s publicist issued standard neither-confirm-nor-deny statements to Gawker about whether that country singer was going to be in (or on) People in the next issue. Such non-committal remarks can often be interpreted as confirmations. But if Wright is May 5′s coming out, that doesn’t mean Lynne isn’t gay, nor does it mean Lynne’s rep lied.)

So on the one hand, it’s not some A-list celebrity that’s coming out and changing the world. On the other hand, at least it’s not an “obvious” celeb like Johnny Weir, who is out in all but name only.

Meanwhile, a search to find anyone who Wright has dated publicly turns up empty. Even the website WhosDatedWho.com, which often marks two people as having dated if they were merely once spotted together in public, turns up empty on Wright. The closest she’s gotten to, ahem, marriage? A duet she co-wrote with Brad Paisley called “Hard to Be a Husband, Hard to Be a Wife.” And interestingly, there is no “Personal Life” section on her Wikipedia entry, suggesting it may be constantly scrubbed.

[From Queerty]

Maybe there’s no “personal” section for Wright in Wikipedia because no one cares! I don’t mean to be so rude, but let’s be honest – how many of you have ever heard of this person? A commenter on Queerty notes that they love country music and have two of Wright’s CDs, but says that it’s kind of suspicious that she’s getting the cover of People. “I can say that even at the height of her success – with back to back hits ‘Single White Female’ and ‘It Was’ (one of my all-time favorite country songs) – Chely was never a major celebrity. More than ten years after the fact, I seriously doubt she would warrant the cover of People magazine just because she was coming out.” Let’s judge this against People’s other covers, though. If Heidi Montag can be on the cover for 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day and Kate Gosselin can earn a cover with her cheap-looking weave, then this woman we’ve never heard of can bolster her career with a more compelling personal story.

While I was researching this story, I came across this editorial in Entertainment Weekly from 2006 with guidelines for celebrities coming out. Writer Mark Harris examines the strategies that celebrities have used to reveal their orientation and concludes that it “may be a model for maintaining one’s career and credibility while revealing homophobia for what it is.” It shouldn’t be “the most interesting thing about you” though, Harris explains, and uses the examples of T.R. Knight and Neil Patrick Harris already having well established careers before revealing the news. Have we reached the point where coming out is being used as a publicity ploy and not as a means to help spread awareness and acceptance? Does it matter when plastic surgery, multiple births, and personal tragedy have already been exploited by countless people to the point that nothing really shocks or interests us anymore? Can you tell it’s Monday?

T.R. Knight: Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes didn’t want me to come out

fp_2042720_glaad_awards_ram
In May we reported on an interview in Entertainment Weekly with Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. Rhimes sounded haughty, in my opinion, and made several statements about how she has no regrets about the plotlines and never reads the press on her show. She also said she wouldn’t have done anything differently because “That would mean I have to admit that we made some mistakes, and I’m not going to do that.”

Spoiler that you probably know already is below
Now that it’s known that T.R. Knight won’t be returning to Grey’s, he’s explaining his decision to Entertainment Weekly. It was all about the fact that his character, George, was given hardly any screen time last season. Although Knight doesn’t directly say this, he heavily hints that the reduced screen time for his character had everything to do with the fact that he came out of the closet following the much-talked about feud with Isaiah Washington. Knight tells EW that Rhimes didn’t want him to come out as gay, although she denies that this is true at all. He’s also miffed that it took Rhimes a full three months to issue any kind of statement about the anti-gay slur that Isaiah hurled at him on set, prompting a fight with their co-star Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah’s eventual firing.

The openly gay star says that he made his decision to leave the hit ABC show after executive producer Shonda Rhimes drastically cut his screen time: He appeared for just 48 minutes in the first nine episodes of season five.

“There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision,” Knight says in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands tomorrow. The actor cites a “breakdown in communication” with Rhimes and says he asked to be let out of his $14 million contract three years early.

“My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about his character, George],” states Knight, who says George evolved into someone he didn’t understand or even respect (the character slept with his best friend, Izzie — played by Katherine Heigl — while he was married to Sara Ramirez’s character, Callie). Knight also resented his noticeable lack of screen time. “It didn’t seem like an ebb to me,” he says. “No other series regular’s character had ever disappeared like mine did this past season.”

But things first started going sour on set for Knight after the infamous “Isaiahgate” incident, in which then-cast member Isaiah Washington referred to him with an anti-gay slur during a heated conversation with co-star Patrick Dempsey. It took creator Rhimes three months to publicly condemn Washington, which Knight calls “frustrating.”

However, Knight says complications arose between him and Rhimes immediately after the incident, when he decided to respond to the sticky situation by outing himself. The actor says Rhimes was among those who wanted him to remain in the closet — though in the EW article, the creator herself denies this.

When Knight was asked to appear on season six of the show — in flashbacks — he flatly refused, opting to move forward with other projects. In September, he’ll headline a stage production of “Parade” at L.A.’s Mark Taper Forum and in February will hit Broadway in the Stanley Tucci-directed revival of “Lend Me a Tenor.”

It’s a big decision to walk away from a hit show — and a huge paycheck — but Knight says he knew it was time to go.
“There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position,” he says. “But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work — that’s more important than the money.”

[From NY Daily News]

So was Knight’s lack of plot some kind of payback from Rhimes for coming out? Whatever the reason, there must have been some issues between Knight and the producers that prompted them to marginalize his character. It took over seven months after that incident with Isaiah Washington in October, 2006, in which he called Knight the slur “f” word and then choked and pushed Patrick Dempsey, for him to get fired. Someone must have been pulling for the guy. We heard about another on-set fight, between Dr. McDreamy Dempsey and Dr. McSteamy Eric Dane, in February, 2007. Add in all the crap that Katherine Heigl said about the show and it sounds like a tense, difficult set. (Granted it’s hard to take anything she says seriously since she complains about basically everything.) With a creator that refuses to admit any mistakes or take feedback at all, it’s no wonder.

Is Adam Lambert coming out publicly via Rolling Stone?

Adam Lambert
American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is planning to come out on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, if you believe gossip blogger Perez Hilton’s latest report. Perez, who seems so totally jealous and catty whenever he writes about Lambert, reported that the singer’s mother would not confirm or deny the report. Also interesting: Adam’s mother claims she had to sign a contract with American Idol stating that she could not comment on his personal life.

Rumor has it that Adam Lambert is officially coming out to Rolling Stone in their upcoming issue, but Glambert’s mom will not give any details…intentionally!

In a phone interview with E!, Leila Lambert, Glambert’s mom, said, ” I would rather not answer until it comes out.”

Even if she wanted to tell, she couldn’t!!!!!!

Leila states that she signed a contract with American Idol which forbids her to discuss her son’s personal life in any way.

You can’t talk about your son without permission from a TV show?!

Craziness!

What’s the big deal?!

This is NOT a secret!

[From PerezHilton.com]

Ever since that whole Miss California thing, Perez has been extra-bitchy on all matters gay. So you can imagine how cheesed off he is that a younger, better looking, more charismatic, and oh, yeah – ACTUALLY TALENTED – gay man has been getting all the attention lately. And he is correct- this isn’t a secret – not to Adam’s friends, family or fans. But I do wonder how much control the American Idol machine has over what Adam is allowed to say. It sounds like these kids sign their lives away when they audition for the show. But I had no idea that their families also were under contract. Personally, I think orchestrating an interview with Rolling Stone is kind of brilliant and awesome – it certainly boosts his image as a rock artist to be speaking with that magazine as opposed to People or Us Weekly. But, yeah, it’s really not a secret.

Pink admits she’s bisexual: ‘love is pure’ (update: not true)

wenn2399041
Shocking absolutely no one, pop star Pink has confirmed that she is bisexual. Did your monocle drop into your high tea as you gasped? Probably not. Pink “came out” as bisexual in an interview to Britain’s News of the World. She claims she’s not bisexual just because all the kids are doing it these days, but because she thinks “love is pure” and she believes in “love in all its shapes, forms and colours.”

Ah, but what about her recommitment to ex-husband Carey Hart? Last we heard, they were “working sh*t out”. Well, Pink says that she likes/loves Carey and all, but she still wouldn’t mind being with a woman. That part of the interview is a little vague, almost like she’s leaving it up to our imaginations if she and Carey are having threesomes with women, or if Pink is open to an affair with a woman, with or without Carey’s blessing. My guess – with his blessing.

Party popper Pink has waved BI BI to her biggest secret, revealing: “I’m not embarrassed about being bisexual. This is who I am.”

For years, the So What singer has denied ever having a romance with another woman.

But in an XSlusive interview, Pink — real name Alecia Moore — reveals she enjoys girl-on-girl action. The star, who put on a blistering performance at the O2 Arena this week, told me: “Love is pure and I try to keep it that way. This is who I am, what I feel.”

“I think it’s unnecessary to draw the subject out, but I think it even more stupid not to discuss it. It seems as if bisexuality is a trend and I should whip up the masses. Well, I don’t believe in trends, I just believe in me.”

The superstar has recently reconciled with her ex-hubby Carey Hart after they separated a year ago. But she said: “I would also be just as happy with a new women. I’m not complicated, I sing about love in all its shapes, forms and colours.”

Pink, 29, has always been surrounded by rumours about her sexuality, but in the past has always firmly denied she would ever start a relationship with a woman.

As recently as last October she claimed: “I’m not gay so I guess I would not try a relationship with a woman.”

The singer, who has sold more than 34 million albums worldwide, added: “My love knows no colour, no gender, no fuss.”

I know my revelation will excite Pink’s devoted army of lesbian fans who attended her gig on Friday in their droves, but she’s already preparing herself for a backlash.

“I speak my mind, I sing about everyday stuff such as homosexuality and sadly the homophobia that always comes with it,” she admitted.

And Pink has promised not to join the long list of famous female singers (Lily Allen, for one) moaning about their fame.

She said: “Famous female singers tend to moan and whine a lot about being famous.”

“Damn, I’m Pink and my bank account hasn’t seen a red zero for a long time, and I can do what I love best-sing. Isn’t that something that makes life better?”

From News of the World

Will people get worked up about Pink’s bisexuality to the point of homophobia? With someone like Lindsay Lohan, it seemed like people got worked up for two reasons: first, they thought Lohan was with Sam just for the publicity and not out of love; second, because Lindsay was a wholesome child star at one point, and parents didn’t want to have an awkward conversation with their kids about why the little red-headed girl from Parent Trap was with that androgynous blonde. It just doesn’t seem like people will be surprised by Pink’s revelation, and thus, they won’t get that worked up over it. And if Pink’s boyfriend/ex-husband doesn’t mind, why should we?

Update Pink has denied this story in a series of tweets to Twitter:

i just read that im bisexual. so 1991. good thing people write articles about me so i can get my facts str8. i mean straight. read on people

Ashton Kutcher still isn’t funny, Scout LaRue is a Paris debutante

When Aston Kutcher first appeared on the scene, I was a fan. He was hot as hell and his PR machine had him sounding like a super intelligent guy even though his Kelso character was about as dumb as they come. Over the years, though, it’s become apparent that Ashton is much more Kelso than the physicist type. If you’ve been unfortunate to catch any of his recent camera commercials, you know why I really want to shoot him in the back with a potato gun.

So, with the humor that Demi must have learned to tune out like one does with an obnoxious pre-teen class clown, Ashton delivered what has to be the award winning stupid joke of the debutante ball season at Crillon Bal des Débutantes where Demi and Bruce’s daughter, Scout LaRue Willis came out.

OF the hundreds of people at Europe’s most prestigious debutante ball, the Crillon Bal, Ashton Kutcher seemed the most out of place. As the stepfather of Scout LaRue Willis – one of 23 young beauties from around the world making her debut – Kutcher was congratulated on Scout’s “coming out.” Appearing utterly confused, Kutcher looked at the dance floor and joked, “As far as I know, she’s dancing with boys.”

He’s stupid, but he’s not that stupid. Can you just imagine how embarrassing it must be to be a teenager and have Ashton Kutcher as your step-dad? At first it would seem pretty cool, I mean, he’s Ashton Kutcher, right? But then, it all starts sinking in, he’s Ashton Kutcher. Kelso is my step-dad. And Kelso is going to be talking about me to the press.

David Patrick Columbia’s New York Social Diary describes the debutante affair as “a unique forum for the presentation of the world’s most eligible young ladies. The ball is also referred to as the Le Bal de Haute Couture, because it is also a catwalk of the endless creativity of France’s top couturiers…” To that end, Scout LaRue Willis, with her sister debs, were in head to toe high couture.

Scout, resplendent in a Christian Lacroix gown, also had her parents on hand, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, who was with his gorgeous girlfriend Emma Heming. CAA biggie Bryan Lourd watched Billie, his daughter by Carrie Fisher, debut in Chanel while French actor Alain Delon clapped for his girl Anouchka in Elie Saab and Catherine Oxenberg applauded daughter India in J. Mendel.

I’m still trying to figure out how the daughter of two relatively inactive American actors qualified for the “elite” Crillon Bal des Débutantes. Regardless, I’m sure it was a beautiful experience for Scout, stupid step-dad comments aside. I wonder if any of those girls ever ask Demi if they can’t just please leave Ashton home this time.
