Good Celebrity: Gwen Stefani Helps Fire Victims

Gwen Stefani is just as sweet as pie, her baby Kingston is so cute, and so is her husband Gavin Rossdale, and her album is one of the biggest sellers on iTunes. She seems to have it all. So it’s great that she’s sharing it all by starting a scholarship fund for students who have lost their homes or jobs in wildfires.

Pop singer Gwen Stefani has donated $US166,000 from her local concert to provide scholarships for students who lost their homes in San Diego’s recent wildfires.

Proceeds from her October 30 concert in San Diego went to The San Diego Foundation’s fire relief fund.

“When I heard about the devastation of the fires, at first I felt I should cancel my show out of respect. But then it occurred to me there might be a more useful solution,” the 38-year-old singer said in a recent statement.

Sydney Morning Herald

$166,000 from one concert performance? Wow.

This is a really good way to spend your money Gwen. I know that students that have lost their houses might like more basic essentials, like a bed or food, but missing out on going to college would be absolutely devastating. You’d feel like you couldn’t move forward from the tragedy of losing your home or job and would probably spiral into depression.

Other celebrities to help out after the October fires include Linkin Park who organised a celebrity momento auction on eBay, and L.A. Galaxy soccer club (featuring David Beckham) organised an exhibition game against Hollywood United F.C.

In other Gwen news, hubby Gavin Rossdale has come out and said that little Kingston is his “greatest triumph”, and that he and Gwen aren’t too bothered by paprazzi.

Rossdale and Stefani, 38, have been able to maintain a relatively normal family life without shying away from the spotlight. “If we were going to be followed by paparazzi, it doesn’t mean we would leave him home … we don’t take life too seriously,” he says. Adding, in response to a question about giving Kingston a sibling, “We’ll see what happens.”

People

This isn’t the first time that Gwen and Gavin have said they plan on having more children, in August Gwen told InStyle magazine that she “can’t wait to get pregnant again.”

How Much Would You Pay For David Beckham’s Tablescraps?

David Beckham recently came down and played a game of soccer in New Zealand, met some Maori and ate out. Now it seems that the tablescraps from his fast food jaunts are worth more than a fresh burger. A lot more.

Soccer superstar David Beckham’s backwash is a hot commodity, with memorabilia hunters in New Zealand bidding up to $5000 for a partly drunk Coke bottle.

One seller is offering for sale a Coke bottle from which the soccer star allegedly drank during his recent visit to the country.

In an effort to attract bids, the seller notes on the Trademe online auction site that the bottle is still one quarter full.

“Mostly backwash I would imagine,” the seller says in answer to a query.

The bottle - which has attracted one bid of $5000 - is said to have been left on a table by Beckham after he ate at a fast-food restaurant in Wellington.

The seller said buyers are welcome to do a DNA test to prove the authenticity of the product, but also provides a picture of themselves with Beckham.

Melbourne Herald Sun

Ew, gross. The report of a $5,000 offer is greatly exaggerated, since if you view the listing it’s at $50 with no offers at all. Are you a true Beckham fan, because buying a bottle of backwashed, warm Coke would have to be the ultimate proof.

Becks also ate fried chicken, coleslaw and corn at a fast food joint in Wellington, and the cutlery and scraps were also put up for auction. I’m guessing that fried chicken is rarely on teh menu when posh is doing teh cooking. Or instructing someone else to do the cooking. She doesn’t strike me as the baking type.

Beckham played while in New Zealand with a broken rib. What, you can play a demonstration match with a broken rib but you can’t play out your multimillion dollar Galaxy contract with just a sore knee?

Beck’s left New Zealand and caught the first Spice Girls concert, and gave the girls a gift that should make them very, very happy.

We’re used to David Beckham splashing out on presents for his other half.

But Becks surprised his wife and the rest of the Spice Girls when he bought £50,000 of stunning diamond-encrusted bracelets for them all.

Posh told us: “He knows I’m really nervous about him seeing me back on stage, so he bought us all these bracelets for good luck. It’s like the old days. David spent a lot of time around the girls when we first got together - it’s as though he married all of us. He’s the original Spice Boy.”

Mirror

A diamond bracelet? For each of them? That is pretty generous, when most people go on holiday all you get is a t-shirt, or a keyring.

People magazine has released their annual best dressed list, ahead of the best dressed issue of their magazine. Then again, with a stylist in tow it’s easy to gain best dressed kudos, so the worst dressed is probably more interesting! I wish that list was longer.

Just Plain Wrong

Avril Lavigne’s combat boots & pink frilly dress

New York Daily News

Why have best dressed men lists? Even the most stylish man just tends to walk around in either a tuxedo or a t-shirt. There’s not much complicated about men’s dressing, why not have best punk rocker style for say, Pete Wentz? Or Best male use of make up, which would probably also be won by Pete Wentz.

I’m also confused about the criteria: Avril Lavinge’s lace dress and combat boots is a style no-no, but Lily Allen’s signature look is a dress and hi-top sneakers (Lily is mentioned in a British best dressed section of the magazine). Aren’t these just different versions of the same look? And none of the women on the best dressed list are cleavage shy, but it’s not okay for Hilary Clinton to show off her assets?

It’s A Bad Week To Be A Beckham

David Beckham is saying he’ll only be out of the game - soccer - with an injury for 6 weeks, some punters are suggesting he’ll be out for the whole season. A season he was paid $6.5 million for. Which, for soccer commentators doing the math, works out to $21,000 a minute for what he’s played so far, 310 minutes.

David has said he needs to rest and allow it to heal properly, “get it right and don’t come back until it’s right,” which is probably very sensible. Not being much of a soccer follower, I’m surprised Galaxy signed him for a reported five years, since by your early 30s (David is 32) aren’t most players getting close to retirement? Or does this more apply to other, rougher kinds of football?

It’s been a hard week for David Beckham, his former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, who has for the first time come out and commented on his show business lifestyle.

“He [Beckham] was never a problem until he got married,” the 65-year-old said at “An Audience with Sir Alex Ferguson” at the Citizens Theatre. “He used to go into work with the academy coaches at nighttime. He was a fantastic young lad. Getting married into that entertainment scene was a difficult thing. From that moment his life was never going to be the same. He is such a big celebrity, football is only a small part. The big part is his persona.”

Times Online

Then Sir Bobby Charlrton, the former Manchester United who discovered Becks at his soccer school, added this.

“I think Victoria’s lifestyle affected his game,” said Charlton. “He was a really great footballer and had a terrific talent, but everyone is different and his lifestyle has gone in a different direction.

“When I first saw him, he wanted to be a footballer more than anyone I have ever seen. I wonder sometimes if he thinks what has happened. I would rather he was still playing in England, but he is in America now. He is committed to being there and will earn millions of pounds, so good luck to him.”

Scotsman.com

Posh and Becks have a chance at a big prize this week, nominated by readers of lad’s mag Loaded, for World’s Best Comedy Duo. Editor Martin Daubney suggests it’s “Victoria’s growing comedy chest or her attempts to integrate into American culture by pitching at baseball matches” that has led them to be nominated.

Not laughing at the whole Posh and Becks overseas move fiasco – Galaxy’s accountant.

Nannies Hard To Find For Victoria Beckham

Victoria and David Beckham have had two nannies resign since their move to L.A., complaining of overwork and nagging.

One source revealed, “You’d imagine it’s a dream job working for celebrities like that in California. But these two trained professionals said it was a nightmare. They complained Victoria spoke down to them, her mother Jackie bossed them about and they felt like dogsbodies.”

Despite the Beckhams having plenty of help - from bodyguards to house cleaners - Zara and Claire ended up working longer days cleaning and cooking for the family - a hard job considering Posh Spice’s diet secrets.

The insider continued, “Both girls ended up having to cook and clean up for all the family. Victoria and Jackie constantly nagged and ordered them about. Some days they were on the go from 6am to midnight. The pay was OK but they just got sick of it.”

AHN

The nannnies, Zara from New Zealand and Claire from England, might have also quit as they didn’t like Los Angeles. And when there is two of you, working for huge salaries, maybe a bit of cooking and cleaning isn’t too much to ask? Wouldn’t you have to cook and clean up after the children anyway?

The rumour circulating (again) is that Posh and David will be having another baby, aiming for a girl this time. Maybe the nannies quit in anticipation of the extra work?

Posh and Becks will be making their way to New Zealand later this year to play some soccer. Well, she’ll probably just watch. The - very expensive - tickets are being sold on the condition that David plays. If David can’t play with Galaxy for any reason while he is here, the games will be postponed or canceled. Perhaps a similar strategy could be employed for his American games?

Victoria Beckham rules out Scientology

Britian’s unreliable Sun is reporting that Victoria Beckham has nixed the idea of her family converting to the Scientology cult at Tom Cruise’s urging. They say that her husband, footballer David Beckham, is more impressionable and has been considering it after having some heart-to-heart conversations with the pint-sized actor, but that Victoria isn’t about to waste her money on anything other than fashion:

TOM CRUISE is trying to recruit the Beckhams to the Scientology cult — but Victoria has told him: “Hands off our cash”.

The Hollywood superstar is obsessed with the wacky religion and believes David would benefit from joining.

But Victoria, 32, has ruled it out — partly because members have to make large, regular cash donations. Last week David admitted he spent “hours” on the phone to Tom, 44, before quitting Real Madrid for LA Galaxy.

There’s another report that David Beckham was so distraught over leaving Madrid for LA-based soccer team Galaxy that he needed ice packs to bring down the puffiness of his eyes from constant crying. He is now said to be content with his decision and excited about the move.

Victoria has gushed that she loves the fashion in Hollywood and that she’s excited to hobnob with the stars.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are throwing a big welcome party for the Beckhams this summer. Guests are said to include Steven Spielberg and Jennifer Lopez.

David is still in Madrid playing out his contract with Real Madrid, and will join his family in the states to play for LA Galaxy starting this summer.

Posh and Becks have enrolled their oldest child, Brooklyn, seven, in the Brentwood private day school in Bel-Air, where he will start school in August.

Here are pictures of Victoria and Katie Holmes out to dinner at The Ivy on 1/16. Tom dropped the two off and then left them to pick at their food.

Victoria is still wearing that god-awful Giambattista Valli belt that Chic Mommy made fun of earlier.

Commentors here note that it looks like Katie had some work done on her face. I don’t see it, but it could be the case. Pictures from KatieHolmes.com

Japanese filmmakers breach Beckham estate

A group of Japanese film-makers were in for a rude awakening when they thought they could breach security at the Beckham’s Spanish estate. They were sneaking around trying to make a documentary about homes of the rich and famous when an eagle-eyed security guard confronted them with a gun. Victoria and her one year old son, Cruz, were home, but the couple’s other two children were at school and David was off training. It turned into this huge drama, and the suspicious filmmakers were carted off to the police station:

A BODYGUARD to the Beckhams pulled a GUN on three intruders in a kidnap scare at the couple’s Spanish home, the News of the World can reveal.

The armed minder dramatically confronted them seconds after they slipped through a metal gate and headed towards the £5million mansion where Posh, 32, and one-year-old son Cruz were inside.

The burly guard—who spotted the three on CCTV at a security post —sprinted across the grounds into their path, pointed his pistol at them and screamed: “Stop! Stop! Don’t move! I have a gun.”

The shocked men put up their hands and blurted out that they were Japanese journalists filming a documentary about houses of the rich and famous.

But the guard kept his weapon pointed at them, shouting: “Give me the camera! Give me the camera!” He only lowered the pistol when one of the intruders carrying a digital camcorder gingerly handed it over.

Six armed cops in marked police cars then screeched up to the house after a call from the Beckhams’ security team and took the men away.

Former England captain Becks, 31, was at Real Madrid’s training ground when the 11am drama unfolded on Tuesday. Elder sons Brooklyn, seven, and Romeo, four, were at school.

The men were only released when police were convinced their story was true. A source close to the couple said: “The guard had no idea if these men were kidnappers, robbers or crazed stalkers planning to attack Victoria.

Supposedly there was a 2002 plot to kidnap Victoria so the bodyguard was not overreating. Well, at least no one got hurt.

Romeo Beckham has epilepsy

Victoria and David Beckham’s middle son, five year-old Romeo, suffers from the seizure disorder epilepsy, which can be triggered by the constant flash of the paparrazi’s cameras that follow the couple:

The world’s most-photographed celebrity family are desperate to protect little Romeo from fans and paparazzi eager to get a snap.

The lad, who turned four just five weeks ago, has been warned to avoid flashing lights known to cause potentially-fatal seizures.

The frightened youngster reacted violently after being photographed at Heathrow last Saturday as he returned to Britain from Madrid with Posh and brothers Brooklyn, seven, and Cruz, one.

Initially he shielded his eyes against the flashes as his mother pushed him through the terminal building in his buggy and out to a waiting car.

He then started screaming in terror and lashing out with his legs as one photographer pressed his camera inside the car and started flashing.

Only then did horrified Posh, 32, reveal the truth about brave Romeo’s dangerous condition.

She pulled her blond-headed son to her, shielded him from the lights and yelled: “Leave him alone.

“He’s got epilepsy. All that flashing will start an epileptic fit. You can’t do that!”

Kevin Smith — owner of Splash news, the agency that took the shot —said: “No picture is worth putting a child’s life in danger.

“Now that we know Romeo has epilepsy I will not be authorising any of my photographers to take flash pictures of him. I think this is absolutely the right thing to do and I hope other agencies follow suit.”

And we at the News of the World are only printing the shocking picture — taken BEFORE the facts were known — to persuade fans and the world’s press to act responsibly.

The frightening incident came soon after specialists told the couple that Romeo’s condition was more serious than first feared and that he had epilepsy.

Romeo has endured a series of frightening fits and has been rushed to hospital four times in three years.

Intially it was thought his attacks were simply febrile convulsions, common in young children running a high temperature.

But when the fits continued with no clear explanation he was tested for epilepsy, which has now been confirmed.

A close friend of Posh and Real Madrid star Becks said: “They have told friends the situation. While it’s heartbreaking, he is being brave.

“They are devastated — worried sick about Romeo. He is on medication to control the seizures but obviously things like flashing lights can trigger one at any time.

My son needs dental surgery as something happened when I was pregnant, it’s unknown exactly what, and the top four tooth buds did not calcify properly. He needs to get those four teeth taken out and maybe a bridge put in. That is why I had to take some time off last week to consult with dentists.

Anyway this is the only thing wrong with my two year-old son as far as we know and I keep telling my husband to be grateful that he has excellent health and is so smart and happy. I can’t imagine dealing with a chronic health problem with my child and my heart goes out to Victoria and David. They may be richer than most of the planet, but they still have to deal with heartbreak. Hopefully Romeo’s seizures are under control and now that the word is out his health won’t be jeopardized by flashes going off in the future.

Victoria Beckham finds herself, shows off her panties

Victoria and David Beckham spoke to London’s Mirror while promoting their new fragrance line in Italy. Victoria was quite upfront in the interview and I have a lot more respect for her after reading it. She seems like a person who struggles with her self esteem, but it sounds like she’s finding her place in the world and is getting stronger every day.

Victoria said she wants a girl, but that now isn’t a good time:

“But at the moment I take my Pill every morning as now isn’t quite the right time.

“When you’re in the public eye they expect you to pop one out every year. I mean, Cruz is still so young. One minute they’re saying I’m pregnant, the next I’m too thin to get pregnant. I can’t keep up.”

She said her big butt in the perfume ads wasn’t altered that much and that she was just bending over funny:

She insisted: “Honestly, the pictures weren’t worked on nearly as much as everyone thought. I was really sticking my bum out. When you haven’t got one you learn how to fake it.”

Victoria admits she wasn’t a great singer, but now that she’s designing her own jeans and putting out a makeup line, she feels confident in her line of work:

She said: “I never used to be able to wake up in the morning knowing ‘I’m brilliant at what I do’. I was never a great singer and I knew that.

“But now it’s amazing, I’m doing something I’m actually very good at. I can confidently sit in a room with Donatella Versace or anyone in the fashion business and be respected as I know what I’m talking about.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever felt like that and I can’t explain how good that feels.”

And Victoria feels a bit inferior to her gorgeous husband, international football star Becks:

She added: “I always say to David, you’ve got so much more going for you. You’re naturally so talented and good looking, so much more so than me.

“Everyone always says, ‘Oh David, he’s so good-looking and so sexy’, whereas I’m ‘funny’. I don’t want to be ‘funny’. What do I have to do to be seen as sexy, too.”

Victoria could gain a few pounds to up her sexy factor, but people do see her as sexy.

While she hasn’t met Suri yet, Victoria said she speaks to Tom Cruise on the phone often and said that he’s not strange like people say, and is “just a genuinely lovely caring person.” She called Katie Holmes “one of the most down-to-earth celebrities I’ve ever met,” and said she’s really good for Tom.

She revealed that David was upset at being dropped by England’s national team, and that he wears his heart on his sleeve. She asked if he wasn’t “one of the top 23 footballers in the country.”

David spoke of his pride in his boys’ interest and skill at football at such a young age. When asked about his favorite smells, a reference to their new perfume line, he said:

“Victoria when she comes out of the shower.

“And the kids, they always smell wonderful.”

That’s so sweet! These two may preen a lot, but there’s something vulnerable and endearing about them.

Here are Victoria and David outside of the launch of their perfume line. Victoria’s skirt is see-through at the top, and you can see her panties in some of the shots. Of her outfit she said “I look like one of those dolls that sit on top of your toilet roll.” She does look like a doll, but that’s not a bad thing. [via]

The Beckhams promote their fragrance in Venice

The Beckhams are in Venice to promote their new fragrance line. In a press conference interview they denied that Victoria is pregnant, but made no secret that they’d like another child and would like to try for a girl. David said that Tom Cruise’s daughter, Suri, is gorgeous and after seeing her pictures it makes him want a girl even more. Victoria said that she’d like to get pregnant again when the time is right, most likely next year

Victoria said : “People keep asking when I’m having the next baby but it’s tricky, having three young boys. I’m thinking next year would be a good time to try. I would like another one.”

But the 32-year-old mum was quick to dismiss rumours she is already expecting baby number four, especially following David’s gaff in Spain where he mistakenly told a journalist she was pregnant.

The Real Madrid ace is getting increasingly broody, as he revealed seeing pictures of Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri made him feel all gooey. He said: “Suri is gorgeous. I have spoken to Tom loads since the birth but it was the first time I had seen Suri.

“It made me really want a baby girl, so fingers crossed we will have one.”

The axed ex-England Captain also vowed that his International football career is not over as he declared: “I’ll be back.”

Victoria looked casually elegant in an off the shoulder Miu Miu dress, while David coordinated in a matching cap and a slightly darker vest thrown over an untucked shirt and jeans.
