Star doubles down with another Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott split story

Tori Spelling

This story is turning into quite the tabloid battle. Just a few weeks ago, Star magazine published a sensational cover story, which alleged that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were on the verge of a $300 million divorce. The story included details about how the couple had been on the rocks for quite some time (despite Tori giving birth to their fourth child just last August) and how Tori had suspected for at least a few years that Dean was getting some on the side. So much so that Tori had allegedly hired a private investigator to follow Dean around when he wasn’t at home and tending to their children with her and/or filming their various reality programs. The tale also claimed that Dean had been giving Tori a hard time about her residual pregnancy weight despite the fact that she became pregnant with their latest child only six weeks after giving birth to their third.

The entire affair (pardon my expression) was a little bit suspect in terms of tabloid fiction, but Tori immediately indulged the tabloid by issuing an emphatic denial. Then only a few days later, Tori posted a blog entry that made the case for her own children spotting the story in the tabloid section of the supermarket checkout line and immediately bursting into tears. Some of you thought Tori’s tale was, at the very least, embellished. Now Star has called Tori’s bluff and published yet another cover story this week; the new take (entitled “Tori’s Lies Exposed!“) says that Tori is “in denial” over the impending marital split. Here we go again:

Tori Spelling

If you care, which you don’t, Tori and Dean’s marriage is over. Phrases like “Dean’s bags are packed” and “Dean has completely checked out” and “He even has a secret bank account” and “He grabbed two bags of clothes and stormed out” and “Dean always keeps bags packed for exactly this kind of situation” pepper the story. Apparently Tori is in denial and they fight nonstop and Dean will walk out on Tori like he walked out on his first family — he was married to a woman named Mary Jo for 12 years when he left her for Tori. Sad.

[From Jezebel]

Well, then. The obvious question here is this — does Star have some really amazing sources that truly justify persisting with this story despite Tori’s objections, or are they just messing with her? Because (and I hate to say it) she sort of challenged them a few weeks ago in response to their prior story. If she had completely ignored the last cover, perhaps this second account would have never happened. Or maybe it’s true after all. Sooner or later, I guess we’ll figure out what really happens.

Tori Spelling fires back at Star, says her kids cried over the ‘divorce’ story

Tori Spelling

Last week, we covered the Star story that alleged (through a rather flimsy source) that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were hurtling towards a $300 million divorce. The story provided details such as Tori hiring a private investigator after suspecting Dean of cheating on her with a couple of different women for at least two years. Further, Star’s source claimed that Dean often chided Tori for her weight struggles after giving birth to four children. The story also tried to make a huge deal out of Dean making a play for Candy Spelling’s money since Tori didn’t get anything from her dad after he died, but that part didn’t make much sense at all.

Even before Star appeared on newsstands, Tori got wind of the story and spoke with the Mail to categorically deny marriage troubles. Of course, the story had already gone to print and showed up in grocery store checkout lines where Tori’s kids saw it and freaked out. Tori wrote about it on her blog, and she rips Star several new ones. This is so sad:

Tori Spelling

[Y]ou might be wondering what I’m referring to while others have already seen the hateful story on the cover of this weeks Star magazine claiming that Dean and I are divorcing and many more horrible claims against my husband. Yes, the story will pass but what won’t pass is what happened in a local supermarket check out line.

My son Liam is turning 6 in a couple weeks. His proudest achievement so far in his young life is that he is learning to read. Until now, when that pride turned to sorrow thanks to Star magazine. He first spotted me on the cover, then Dad, and then a picture of himself and his 3 younger siblings. He was able to read two things out loud, the word DIVORCE (which he proudly sounded out) and the caption above his picture which read “Who will get the kids?” He became terrified. I had to hurry him and his confused 4-year-old sister Stella out of the grocery store and into our car. By the time he was fastening himself into his car seat he was asking, “Why is someone getting us?? Where are you and Dad going?” He was anxiously biting his lower lip and his big blue eyes were filled with tears. My heart sank. How would I explain to my children that what these 3 writers who have never even met us but who claim to know the ins and outs of our relationship and have proudly put their names on this article are flat out writing lies?

I’ve always had shots taken at me. It’s been almost 24 years since I became a public figure starting at age 16 with 90210. It’s the downside to this business but I’ve built up a pretty thick skin to the lies and trash talking at this point. But my children are another story. Keep them out of it! I wonder if any of those 3 writers have children? How would they feel if their child had to read something so hurtful and confusing as what mine had to read? How do they sleep at night knowing they’ve potentially emotionally scarred and if nothing else terrified innocent children.

Driving home I repeatedly told my children, “That magazine doesn’t know us. Daddy and I are very happy and in love. There will be no divorce and all of us will remain together as a family”. Stella, my literal one, just kept saying “But then why is it on the magazine? Magazines are true.” I wish that were always the case.

I’m lucky my two oldest are only 5 and 4 and couldn’t read the fine details of the article where horrific claims were made against my husband, their Dad.

Again, you want to make inaccurate low blows at someone Star? Go for me! I can handle it. I always have. But don’t do it to a man that has done nothing but loved me and our children. He has stood by me during the good times and held my hand through the darkest moments of my life. I’m so blessed to have him as my partner in life and love and he is the best father to our four children. I’m aware that all that matters is that we know our truth. It’s just sad that our actual happiness would probably be deemed boring to Star Magazine. What kind of society have we become where love stories and fairytales are dead? That others’ failure is what people crave and what sells? That’s not the world I want my children growing up in.

[From Tori Spelling's blog]

Tori is absolutely correct in that the tabloids never consider how much their hypothetical “divorce” stories will upset the children, especially when the stories aren’t even true in the first place. I hope Tori and Dean are just fine, and hopefully, the kids will eventually forget about Star’s cover, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the cover is emblazoned in their impressionable minds for good. How terrible for these kids.

One more thing — if Tori had been forewarned about this awful story being splashed all over the cover of a very prominently placed tabloid magazine, don’t you think she could have left the kids at home while she hit the grocery store for her weekly shop? I’m not trying to blame Tori at all for this story upsetting her kids, but I would have left them with a sitter or with Dean until things blew over. Maybe she didn’t realize they would see it though.

Are Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott headed for a $300M divorce? Tori says no

Tori Spelling

This week’s issue of Star has a cover story that alleges Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are on the verge of divorce. Tori and Dean have four children together, and the family has featured prominently on several years of reality television. I like Tori a lot. I wasn’t crazy about her during her “90210″ years, but she’s carved out a pretty lucrative career for herself in the aftermath, and I admire her for not merely living off daddy’s millions (even if he did get her started in the biz in the first place).

Anyway, this story claims that Tori and Dean have been on the rocks for awhile, and that Tori has been suspicious for years about Dean seeing other women. If that were true, I’m not sure why she’d keep making babies with him, including the last child, which she got pregnant with six weeks after giving birth to her third kid. Star also claims that Dean has been very critical of Tori’s lingering pregnancy weight this last time around, and I hope that’s not true. I mean, he has no room to talk at all. Here’s part of the story from the Mail, which Tori has already contacted to issue a denial:

Tori Spelling

Tori Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott have hit back at claims their marriage is on the brink of collapse.

The reality TV couple, who have been married since 2006 and have four children together, were reported by America’s Star magazine to be heading towards a $300million divorce amid cheating fears and his criticism of her weight.

The tabloid claims Dean, 46, is also after his 39-year-old wife and mother-in-law Candy Spelling’s fortune – estimated to be around $300million – and plans to use the couple’s four children as leverage to secure a big payout.

But a spokesperson for Tori strongly refuted the claims, telling MailOnline on Wednesday the rumours as “ridiculous and not true.”

Indeed, the couple certainly paint a blissful picture of marriage and parenthood on their reality show Tori & Dean.

Star magazine alleges Tori doesn’t trust her husband, and quotes a source as saying she fears he has “been seeing two different women for years.”

The source continues: “She’s so suspicious, she monitors his email and put a tracker on his phone. She even hired a private investigator to follow him!”

Dean is also accused of putting Tori down about her weight and the fact that his wife, who recently gave birth to their fourth child, is having trouble shifting the weight gained during her pregnancy.

“Dean told her she looks fat,” said the source. “He thinks she’s being lazy.”

[From Daily Mail]

I’ve never watched Tori’s reality show, so I have no idea what kind of personality Dean projects, but that would be pretty low of him to make fun of Tori’s weight after four pregancies, two of which were back to back. I don’t think he even has a job outside of their joint reality television stuff, so how would he even manage to sneak off and get busy with other women? I guess some guys could always manage to cheat if they really wanted to. Then again, this story doesn’t exactly allege that Dean has been cheating — just that Tori is suspicious. I think at the point where you actually hire a private investigator to follow your spouse is the point where you might as well admit you’re on the road to divorce. But I still hope this story isn’t true for the sake of their children.

As for the financial angle, we’ve heard stories before such as the 2009 Star story that said Dean didn’t sign a prenup, but Tori didn’t inherit any money from her dad anyway. Dean was supposedly livid about the omission in Aaron Spelling’s will, so I don’t know. Maybe their marriage has always been based on money, but if they’ve been doing these reality shows together, then the money would have been earned together.

Tori Spelling gave birth to her fourth child, son Finn Davey McDermott

Wow, just days after Tori Spelling made me kind of naseous with her line about “my now pliable pelvic bones move and crunch,” she has given birth to her fourth and possibly last child. Tori stepped out just a few days ago, and everyone was making a big deal about how she was ready to give birth at any moment. Usually when celebrities do their “last red carpet” before giving birth, they’ve still got several weeks left – but not Tori! She gave birth last night in LA. A little boy! He’s already got a name too:

It’s a boy for Tori Spelling! The Craft Wars host and her husband, Dean McDermott, welcomed their fourth baby, Finn Davey McDermott, on Thursday evening, Spelling confirmed on her website.

“Please join us in welcoming Finn Davey McDermott,” Spelling wrote of her 6 pound, 6 ounces bundle of joy.

The McDermott family’s new arrival joins older siblings Liam, 5, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 10 months. (McDermott also has a teenage son, Jack, from a previous marriage.)

Confirming her pregnancy in March — just five months after welcoming daughter Hattie — Spelling, 39, caught flack for expanding her brood so quickly. And while the actress joked that it was her husband’s insatiable sex drive that led to her unplanned pregnancy, McDermott said he doesn’t regret ignoring doctor’s orders to wait at least six weeks before getting intimate.

“It’s so funny how everyone blames the man,” McDermott, 45, told Celebuzz after Spelling confirmed their family was growing. “It’s like, ‘Oh my God, will you leave your wife alone?’ But it takes two to tango. She wasn’t putting up that much of a fight. But I have big shoulders. I’ll take it.”

Choosing to keep her newborn’s gender a surprise until giving birth, Spelling has said her older kids took gaining another sibling in stride. Liam and Stella were “over-the-moon and super excited” when she and her husband of six years announced they were expecting Hattie, but with their new sibling, “it was as if we had said, ‘Oh we got milk today,” Spelling confirmed. “We brought home milk today and put it in the fridge and you can go help yourself to a glass.’”

Outside of her family home, Spelling wasn’t afraid to flaunt her growing baby bump — haters be damned. “I have to say, I’m super proud of my bump. Why should I be embarrassed and cover up something that’s the greatest gift a woman can experience? A pregnant woman in any shape or size is beautiful!” Spelling — who made a habit of flaunting her figure in sexy maternity clothes, including skimpy swimwear — blogged in early August.

“I’m making a conscious choice to show my daughters that they can express themselves and be proud as a woman of their bodies,” she continued. “I don’t ever want them to think that they should be ashamed of or self-conscious of their bodies, no matter what shape it’s in.”

[From Us Weekly]

I don’t completely hate the name “Finn Davey”. In fact, I’ve always liked the name Finn in general – although I’ve always sort of thought it would make a better animal name, you know? Like, Finn the Puppy. Finn the kitty cat. Davey seems a bit twee – cute enough for a baby or a child, but as an adult, I think he’ll probably dislike the Davey.

Anyway, congrats to Tori and Dean. I do hope Dean leaves his wife alone for two seconds and Tori doesn’t get knocked up straight away yet again.

Tori Spelling’s husband tweets a photo with her giant tatas in the background

toritweet
When you’re nursing a baby in the first few months you sometimes sit around at home with your boobs hanging out. It’s not like you’re trying to flash anyone, it’s just that you’re so exhausted most of the time that it ends up happening and you just don’t care. When my son was a few months old I remember my ex sister-in-law giving me the side eye for nursing him. At one point my breast was hanging out afterwards and I just didn’t notice at all. I wasn’t embarrassed about it, either. I mean, I was with family and it was an honest mistake. When I was just with my husband I would regularly sit around like that for convenience sake.

Anyway Tori Spelling’s husband Dean McDermott tweeted a photo of their son Liam, four and a half, with a little sticker on his forehead and the caption “doughhead.” McDermott uploaded it to Twitter before he noticed that Tori’s giant nursing tatas were totally visible in the background. (To see an uncensored photo, click on the header image on this page. McDermott has since deleted the photo, but he hasn’t posted an explanation.) That totally cracked me up! Tori just had her third kid, daughter Hattie Margaret, on October 10th. Here’s more about this:

Look before you tweet! Dean McDermott is learning the hard way today (November 17) after he posted a photo which shows wife Tori Spelling’s breasts!

In what looks to be an innocent pic, Dean snapped a shot of their son Liam goofing off in their home, but if you look closely, there are a pair of exposed knockers in the background.

One can only assume they belong to the former “Beverly Hills 90210” star and that the Rated R picture was an accident.

No word from Dean on Twitter yet today, but we assume he’ll have some apologizing to do.

[From Celebrity-Gossip.net via ONTD]

Well Tori and Dean have their new show coming out in a couple weeks and this gets them a lot of publicity for it. I saw an interview with them on E! a couple days ago (below) and I didn’t cover it, because they usually bug me and I find Tori’s personality grating. I think this was an honest mistake, though, and that Dean probably caught hell at home for it. I’ve seen about two episodes of their wedding planning show and that guy is quiet most of the time while Tori takes charge and does most of the talking. I’m surprised they’ve lasted as long as they have, given how they got their start and how they seem to interact. It’s working for them, though, and Dean told E! that he enjoys working with his wife, but that he understands that it’s not for everyone.

Tori has been blogging a lot. She recently penned a cheesy love letter to Dean on his 45th birthday, and she also wrote about how her son doesn’t like her changing in front of him. I know a lot of people are going to be like “Tori let her son see her boobs!” but I don’t see the big deal. Those things serve a purpose.

US has photos of Tori with her new baby daughter.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are inevitably having marriage problems

wenn5667906
We’ve heard for some time that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are having problems, and it’s to be expected given their history together. Star Magazine writes that things are pretty chilly between them lately, and that Tori dropped some major hints that she’s having marriage problems in a recent blog entry in which she gave advice for surviving relationship trouble, and seemed to say that she’d been experiencing plenty of it herself.

The tension between Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott was visible when they took their tots Liam and Stella to an amusement park on Centre Island, near Toronto, on June 17. “When they all headed to a ferry, Tori and Dean, 44, didn’t interact at all,” an eye witness tells Star. “They were walking so far apart, you’d never know they were together.” In a June 14 blog post, a distraught Tori, 38, had admitted that life with her husband of five years has been tough lately… she’s been deeply preoccupied with her marital issues.

[From Star Magazine, print edition, July 4, 2012]

Tori Spelling better watch out. Her husband had no problem leaving his then-wife for her right after they’d adopted a baby together, so it’s not like having another child is going to keep him with her. Still, I think this is overblown. Every couple has their problems and if marriage was easy the divorce rate wouldn’t be so damn high. These two will stay together as long as they need each other for their reality show careers. Dean knows he’s not going to be able to trade up from Tori for some time.

Tori Spelling finally confirms her third pregnancy via Twitter

fp_7105091_oxygen_nyc_18_39

In news that is completely unshocking to those of us with the power of sight, Tori Spelling has just announced on Twitter that she is in fact pregnant for the third time. I think CB might have been one of the first to call it in this post from a few weeks ago. Anyway, Tori writes, “I know there’s been a lot of speculation, so I wanted everyone to hear from me… Its official…Dean & I are PREGNANT!!!!”

toritweet1

[From Tori’s Twitter]

I like that tweet. She’s just happy and making an announcement and she didn’t get all sanctimonious about people getting up in her business and all. Though no one is confirming it, I’d suspect she’s already well into her second trimester, considering that she’s already showing in recent photos. And even though I don’t really care for either of them, they make cute babies and they seem happy. So congratulations to the happy family!

Tori Spelling to plan Niecy Nash’s wedding for Tori’s new reality series

fp_6289747_nash_niecy_wic_0
So Tori Spelling has this new reality show coming up with her husband in which they plan other people’s weddings. It’s called “Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings.” Tori supposedly scoured a huge coup by convincing popular Dancing with the Stars contestant (and former Clean House hostess) Niecy Nash to appear on her show. Niecy recently got engaged to hot electrical engineer Jay Tucker and was said to be thrilled by the prospect of getting Tori’s help and appearing on her show.

Tori Spelling… is gearing up for her Oxygen network spinoff – “Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings” – and she’s booked Niecy’s May marriage as the series kickoff, the Enquirer has learned…

“Niecy put the word out through friends that she was looking for a wedding planner – and Tori jumped on the idea and called her immediately,” an insider told The Enquirer. “Niecy was thrilled. She had no idea Tori organized weddings. She embraced the idea and thought it’d be great publicity for them both.”

Tori invited Niecy and [her fiance] Jay [Tucker] over to preview her wedding planning portfolio, and they “flipped for her ideas,” said the pal.

Tori, 37, and Dean, 44, continue to stat in their reality hit “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood” and are hoping fans will cross over to watch the new show.

“Viewers will see that Tori has a real knack for planning weddings,” the source added. “She has already done it for four of her girlfriends.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, January 3, 2011]

I think that the “great publicity for them both” is key, but if Niecy is game and is getting a bunch of free wedding swag along with it more power to her. I love Niecy and would probably watch this just to get to see her wedding. Tori bugs me though. This story reminds me of Tori’s re-commitment ceremony to Dean earlier this year, which Tori planned and was basically like a second wedding. She put out a bunch of a personal mementos for her and Dean, including a tower of shoes in lucite cubes that she called “shoe art,” and a book on June and Johnny Cash, who she called an inspiration. Tori and Dean even got married in a sandbox while their kids played at their feet. I called her to task at the time for saying that “[Johnny] and June Carter were an inspiration – a couple that were both married before and then found each other.” You know, since Tori and Dean were both married to other people when they “found each other.” They’re still together though nearly four and a half years later, and they’re launching yet another reality show. Something has to be working for them, and they’re capitalizing the hell out of it.

Niecy and her fiance are shown on 12/16/10. Tori is shown shooting scenes for a talkshow she’s doing with Jeff Lewis on 11/29/10. Credit: Fame Pictures

Dean McDermott quits dirt bikes, saves marriage to Tori Spelling

Last week, Hollywood husband Dean McDermott ended up in ICU with a collapsed lung after his second crash while racing dirt bikes. The husband of Tori Spelling even had to be outfitted with a catheter- which he Tweeted about. Now that Dean is home and recovering, sources report that he has banned the dirt biking, much to the relief of Tori. Anyone who watches their reality show knows that the activity was becoming a major source of strife within the marriage, so maybe the crash was a good thing.

Dean McDermott’s recent motorcycle crash did what months of nagging by his wife Tori Spelling couldn’t – it caused him to give up a sport he loves.

Dean, a speed enthusiast, was rushed to the ICU of a Los Angeles hospital on June 29 after crashing his dirt bike – his second crash this year. He suffered a punctured and collapsed lung, which left him unable to move and bleeding heavily from his right side.

A panicked Tori, 37, rushed to his bedside – and begged him to give up the dangerous sport for good, say pals.

The couple, who married in 2006 and have two young children, have admitted that their relationship is sometimes rocky. And one of their most contentious battles has been over Dean’s obession with motorcycle racing, revealed the insider.

After Dean’s crash in January, in which he fractured his shoulder, he agreed to ride only as a hobby and to give up professional racing.

But after seeing Tori’s anguish over his injuries from his most recent smash-up, Dean, 43, agreed to stop riding dirt bikes altogether.

“He’s done tempting fate and ready to recommit himself to Tori and the kids.”

[From The National Enquirer print version, July 19, 2010]

Well, I’m glad Dean agreed to cut out the foolish, reckless behavior. But now he is going to have to find something else to fill up his time, and let’s face it- that won’t be his wife and kids. His “obession” with dirt bikes, in my opinion, is a signal that he’s bored and unfulfilled. But what else is there? His acting career is kaput ever since he married Tori. If it weren’t for the reality show and Tori’s books, they’d have no work at all. Maybe he needs to get out there and start reviving his acting career so he can stay out of trouble.

Dean McDermott overshares about his catheter

fp_4809344_spelling_mcdermott_cjny_040610

My first reaction was to dry heave when I read that during Dean McDermott’s hospital stay (for his latest dirt bike accident), his catheter “cut” him. My second reaction was “Damn, that man will use any excuse to avoid having sex with Tori Spelling.” Because, honestly, YES. But I think Dean really did have serious catheter problems (my body is telling me to barf). His catheter got stuck. And then there was some other stuff. Don’t make me type it.

Dean McDermott had a rough holiday weekend as he healed from a dirt bike accident that left him with a punctured lung last week.

Dean, who is married to Tori Spelling, left the ICU Friday and soon needed a doctor’s care once again.

“OMG !!!!! My catheter is stuck and won’t come out. I’m waiting for the Doctor to get here and give it a try. Gotta be honest, I’m scared !!” he tweeted.

The next day he wrote that he was worse for wear after getting the catheter removed: “I had the worst night. Catheter cut me up coming out. Unbelievable pain. I got a fever of 104 and was throwing up. Fun, WOW !!!”

Luckily things turned around in time for the fourth, when Tori and the kids were snapped bringing him ice cream cake cones in the hospital.

“Happy 4th everyone!!! Feeling better today. Tori asked Liam who his best friend was and he said.”Dean is. He is my brother”. Made my cry,” Dean tweeted on Sunday.

[From Huffington Post]

For goodness sake. A fever of 104? Do you believe it? I don’t. I think Dean took the thermometer out of his ass (because that’s the way he likes to have it taken), and he put it against a lamp. I really do. Anything to get away from Tori for a few more days. Which is how he got into this problem in the first place – crashing his dumb dirt bike, because I guess he just can’t stand to be in the same room as his family for more than a few minutes. Too harsh? I’m over Tori and Dean. I think they’re both completely nuts.
