Strangely enough, there was plenty of yellow to be found last night at the Critics Choice Awards. It seems like an odd choice for January, and most of it was overdone to the max. First, we have Diane Kruger in a rare red carpet miss. Diane can usually wear anything and look like Aphrodite incarnate, but this yellowish Grecian Prada gown was just terrible. Overall, the dress would’ve looked better in a solid color instead of pairing a lighter yellow with darker painter stripes along the sides of the skirt. And the blue grey tone of the rest of the dress with the built-in bra cups? Oh, Diane. Then she chose to accessorize with hot pink lipstick and a matching Prada clutch. I’m really not sure what happened here, but it’s like Diane really went out of her way to look bad. Maybe she lost a bedroom-oriented bet with Joshua Jackson? I need to believe that to justify the existence of this dress.

Also, the purposely messy hair was a bit too messy and the hot pink color makes her lips look extremely tiny. Not good.

Elizabeth Olsen (nominated for Best Actress in Martha Marcy May Marlene) faired slightly better with a short Emilio Pucci dress. Lizzie has a bit of difficulty dressing to her body type, and this dress (like many of her other choices) makes her look slightly hippy. Yet she’s showing off great legs, and the hair is just right.

And of course, once Lizzie flashed her fabulous smile, all was forgiven.

Finally, Elle Fanning (who was up for Best Young Actor/Actress in Super 8) emphasized her youth with a whimsical Rodarte dress. Elle is still so young, so she gets a pass for wearing daisies (or are those sunflowers?) on the red carpet.

Still, Elle really should’ve put her hair in a messy updo instead of letting it hang all over the place. She’s got plenty of time to learn though.

Here are some photos from The 2011 UNICEF Ball at the Beverly Wilshire. The turnout wasn’t as good as the Snowflake Ball in NYC last week, but it’s still nice that celebrities came out for a good cause. Nicole Richie stood out because A) She looks really tiny, B) I’m still not in love with her hair and C) her dress was the best of the night. The dress is Osman. It’s a much more modern silhouette than I expect from her – usually she does flowy hippie crap. I like “modern Nicole” a great deal – now I just want her to do something else with the hair. Also: look at the girl Nicole is posing with – how jacked is that chick’s face?

Here’s Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally. Can I tell you how much I miss Will & Grace? I was just thinking about that show the other day. Megan and Sean Hayes together were lightning in a bottle.

Diane Kruger was my vote for worst-dressed. The dress is Emilio Pucci. Isn’t it hideous? And this is a woman who can pull off nearly any look, and this is just so bad, it transcends Diane’s Blanchett-quality. It looks like goth brothel curtains.

I had a photo of Diane Kruger’s red carpet gown earlier today, in the post about The Ides of March premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Diane actually wore two looks last night – the gold Elie Saab gown for the red carpet, and then this odd Chanel Couture Fall 2011 dress for the parties. Diane is a Chanel girl, and I don’t think she’s capable of admitting when Karl Lagerfeld fails. But this dress is a fail. It’s like a too-small, budget, tacky little 1990s t-shirt dress, with a stiff, gaudy black apron-corset overlay. It’s hideous! Why does Diane do this? Why does Lagerfeld do this to her?!?

But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Joshua Jackson knocked her up. He should! Those would be some lovely German-Canadian babies. I think I’m seeing phantom (?) pregnancy because Diane has gained a little weight. It looks good on her. Her boobs look bigger too?

Yesterday, the biggest show in town (for Paris Fashion Week) was Chanel, of course. Karl Lagerfeld wouldn’t have it any other way. But here’s what surprises me: none of the standard-issue famewhore fashion girls dropped everything to fly to Paris to be with Karl. There was no Kate Bosworth, no Rachel Bilson, no Kirsten Dunst and NO BLAKE LIVELY. What’s up, fashion girls? But of course, Alexa Chung showed up, looking like hell. The biggest “names” at the event were Diane Kruger, one of Lagerfeld’s favorites, and little Elle Fanning, looking out of place.

I guess I like Diane’s gown the most – I really love the top part, with the studs, but the skirt is rather meh. I also feel bad for Joshua Jackson. Poor guy has to escort his girl to all of these fashion events, and I bet he doesn’t even give a crap.

Here’s Elle Fanning – the outfit is cuter without the little jacket thing, but I still don’t care for a girl this young A) wearing Chanel and B) Attending a Chanel runway show in Paris. Elle just turned 13 in April.

We should celebrate Diane Kruger today. I think this is longest she’s ever gone without exposing her biscuits on a red carpet. I feel like it’s been months and months since I’ve looked at photos of Kruger in some minidress where her German biscuits are being “aired out” – congrats, Diane! These are photos of Diane and her adorable lover Joshua Jackson at last night’s Paris event for Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso (which was the same event Clive Owen attended, and where he wrote to us). Diane is the “face” of the watch, so it’s obvious that she needed to be there. Her dress is Vionnet Fall 2011 – on the runway, the top part was unlined and lace. I might have preferred that runway look to this little-old-lady mess. It looks like an ink-soaked doily.

By the way, I do read the comments (most of the time), so I know that there’s a growing movement to re-introduce hosiery to red carpet situations. I agree that not everyone should wander around, bare legged, at all times. But I associate the need for hosiery with weather – when it’s cold, I expect to see ladies wearing tights or panty hose, but in the summer, I’m fine with everyone being bare-legged. Can we agree – pro and anti-hosiery people alike – that Diane Kruger is doing hosiery the wrong way? Black hose with this little old lady dress simply increases the “dowdy” factor, plus it’s almost July. Her German biscuits might be sweaty. And no matter who you are or what season it is, I always consider it a fashion catastrophe to wear hose with open-toed shoes or sandals. That’s just wrong.

Joshua looks really nice, though. He seems kind of “over” escorting his lady everywhere, but he still shows up for her, which is nice.

Here are some additional fashion photos from last night’s amfAR Inspiration gala in Paris – I already covered the photos of Dita Von Teese and her crazy-hot boyfriend here. Diane Kruger was also in attendance, but she didn’t bring her cute boyfriend, so she doesn’t “win” as much as Dita. Diane wore this red, silk Yves Saint Laurent gown which I’m kind of meh on. Don’t get me wrong, the dress in and of itself is very pretty, and on a different woman, I would be loving it completely. But it just feels like Diane didn’t feel like styling it the right way. Her face looks washed out, her hair is a mess. It’s like she pulled her hair back into a makeshift bun, washed her face in the sink, and decided to just throw on the gown and some red lipstick and go to the event.

I guess the best you can say about Diane is that at least she didn’t look as insane as Fergie, who was also at the event. Fergie wore Louis Vuitton autumn/winter 2011-12, and beyond looking insane and not formal enough for the event, it also looks like Fergie’s plastic-surgery-jacked face is falling. So much for that “new lipstick” huh? She’s just a train wreck.

These are some photos from a charity dinner held in Paris on Tuesday night. The charity event was “Liaisons au Louvre” so I guess it benefited the Louvre? Sure. Anyway, I just wanted to cover the photos, even though they’re not really new. Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson were there, both of them looking adorable and loved up. I want Diane to get pregnant so much. I really do. I don’t care if she and Joshua get married or any of that, but I really want them to have a baby, because I think they would be wonderful, adorable parents.

Anyway, enough of my Joshua-Diane love, let’s talk about fashion. Diane wore this interesting Alessandra Rich, and she styled it straight off the runway, down to the weird, neon, plastic belt. I would absolutely hate this on anyone but Diane. On Diane, I’m merely impressed that she’s covered up. The girl loves the biscuit-grazing styles, and she’s very comfortable showing some skin. So, I applaud her rare modesty, and I also applaud how she still manages to make a glorified belted sack work in her favor. She is a true Fashion Girl.

Janet Jackson was also there. In harem pants. Ugh. I do think Janet looks great from the waist up, though. Yeah, she’s gained some weight back, which is fine. I still think she looks gorgeous.

These are photos from last night’s premiere of Sleeping Beauty in Cannes. I’m too lazy to look up the movie or tell you anything about it (meh), mostly because I just want to talk about fashion and cute couples. First up: Diane Kruger and her lover Joshua Jackson. Now, you know I love Josh. He’s adorable. And you know he just gives in and lets his girl dress him. So I’m not sure who to bash for his shoe choice. Were those kicks Josh’s call, or Diane’s? One of them should have vetoed it. Dress shoes for the Cannes red carpet, please. As for Diane, she wore this metallic Calvin Klein that looks like they just poured liquid gold onto her body (a la Goldfinger). You can even tell that the bitch isn’t wearing (nor does she NEED to wear) Spanx. Amazing. So, beautiful couple, and my only complaint is about his shoes.

Next up, Rachel McAdams walked the red carpet arm-in-arm, hand-in-hand with her lover Michael Sheen. On another day, they might have been heady competition for Josh and Diane, but not this event. Because for this event, Rachel went with one of the trashiest looks I’ve ever seen on her. It’s some kind of God-awful jumpsuit/pants/bustier combo by Monique Lhuillier. In a hideous beige/nude that does nothing for Rachel’s coloring. Of course, Rachel’s coloring isn’t being helped by the fact that her hair is bleached to infinity and beyond, and it looks like a cheap bleach job too. She looks so… budget. And yes, she and Michael look adorable together, but I also think he’s kind of like “Seriously, even I, Welsh Jesus, know that you could do better, babe.”

But do you know who looked even worse than everybody put together? Bryce Dallas Howard. WHY WOULD YOU WEAR THIS TO CANNES?!?!? I think she’s pregnant (?) but that’s not an excuse to wear an oversized SMOCK.

Everybody and their brother was at Coachella over the weekend, or to quote Michael K from DListed “celebrities from all lists.” We’ve already seen Alex Skarsgard putting up with Kate Bosworth and Dita Von Teese and her French boyfriend looking like they were born Photoshopped and perfectly accessorized. There were plenty more people at the music festival trying to work their casual looks and score some swag.

First off is Vanessa Hudgens barefoot in a ridiculous crochet crop top and cutoffs hunting for a new man. I don’t know who looks more ridiculous, Vanessa or her buddy with the fringe purse and purple fringe boots. That’s the kind of friend who helps enable a look like this.

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger were coupled up as they always are. Her pink striped dress needs to be about 3 inches longer. I hope she’s wearing some full coverage panties.

Ashley Greene tried to work a fedora while standing next to a guy who looks enough like Joe Jonas to get people talking.

Isabel Lucas was a hot hippie mess as usual.

Cory Monteith thinks he’s a rock star. I’m just counting down the days until Glee gets canceled and these kids fade into obscurity. He’s relatively harmless though and it’s nice that he’s posing with fans.

Whitney Port is trying to bring back the tied on the side T-shirt. Was that ever in style apart from a few months in the late 80s? Sloppy.

Malin Ackerman. I barely know who she is but this photo cracks me the hell up. Anyone who can look this smug while wearing an outfit that terrible must have some acting ability. Check out her boyfriend. (Update: that’s her husband of 5 years, Roberto Zincone. Thanks Fabianne!)

Kelly Osbourne looks surprisingly well put together and covered up until you scroll down and see her bowling shoes.

Paris Hilton still looks pregnant. Compared to everyone else she’s dressed pretty well. On any other occasion this dress would be a fail though.

Dita Von Teese looking nautically fresh in an outfit we haven’t yet seen. She wipes the floor with everyone else and she knows it. She also has the perfect accessory in that French aristocrat. Bitch even picked a drink that color coordinated with her outfit.

Tallulah Willis turned 17 in February and here she is in a bikini top, smoking a cigarette and showing off a tattoo on her hip. I would say that this could be a case of mistaken identity, but the Willis genes are strong with this one.

There are so many new photos of Diane Kruger in Berlin, for the film festival, that I thought she might be a judge. But I think she’s just the only star of Unknown who actually flew in to promote the film at the festival. No word on where January Jones or Liam Neeson are to promote this week‘s likely box office champion. Oh, well. We’ll have to make do with Diane’s fashionista ways. The red-pink dress with the flutter sleeves is Prada – I like the color on Diane quite a bit, but I’m still arguing with myself about whether or not the cut is flattering on her slender frame.

Next up, Diane in amethyst and beaded Chanel. It’s completely not my taste, and on someone else, I might hate it, but I kind of love this on Diane. I love the beautiful, rich, purple color, I love the beading, I love the way she wears it. Also: she looks kind of pregnant here…?

My favorite of all of Diane’s Berlinale red carpet looks, however, was this cream-colored, full-length Vionnet Spring 2011 collection dress. She wore this to the Berlinale awards ceremony last night. This… THIS is an Oscar dress. She looks beautiful and amazing.
