Is Diane Kruger jealous that Katie Holmes is talking to Joshua Jackson again?

Diane Kruger Joshua Jackson

Earlier in the week, Kaiser mentioned in a link post that Joshua Jackson confirmed (on a Canadian talk show) that Katie Holmes reached out to him with a phone call after she filed for divorce from Tom Cruise. Since then, Us Weekly has been pushing this story really hard and has mentioned Joshua’s words (“It was very nice actually“) about Katie in three separate stories. It sounds like someone at Us is a huge fan of “Dawson’s Creek,” right?

Of course, Katie and Joshua dated for about a year, and he’s always been one of the names that have been absurdly floated about as the “true” biological daughter of Suri Cruise. As I’ve already stated, I really do think Tom is Suri’s bio dad, and even if Tom wasn’t, the timeline is all wrong for Joshua to be a candidate. Regardless of questions of paternity, this week’s issue of the Enquirer has published a story about how Joshua’s long-time girlfriend, the impossibly lovely Diane Kruger, isn’t thrilled at all about the rekindled friendship between Joshua and his most famous ex-girlfriend. Can you blame her? Here are the details:

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes has reconnected with former flame Joshua Jackson — and sources say the hunk’s longtime honey, actress Diane Kruger, isn’t happy about it.

Katie, 33, and Joshua, 34, were a couple on-screen and off while wilming the teen drama “Dawson’s Creek,” and he recently revealed that Katie reached out to him after divorcing superstar Tom Cruise. Now insiders say that “Troy” beauty Diane, 36, isn’t happy with the relationship.

“Diane has been dating Joshua since 2006 — just around the same time Katie married Tom,” an insider told The Enquirer. “Even though Joshua’s relationship with Katie only lasted a year, Diane knows that it burned red-hot. I think that bothers Diane deeply.”

Joshua, who now stars on the FOX show “Fringe,” once told pals: “Katie told me I was her first love and she would treasure it forever.” And Diane was said to be upset after Joshua confessed on the Candian talk show “George Stroumboulopouls Tonight” that Katie had telephoned him.

“Like any old friend, it was like, ‘Oh hi, how are ya? What’s going on? I had a kid,’” Joshua said, referring to Katie’s daughter Suri, 6. The chat was “nice,” he added. “It was very nice actually.”

And that won’t sit well with Diane. “That kind of talk will have Diane green-eyed with jealousy,” revealed the insider. “I think she wants Katie as far away from her man as possible so she doesn’t get a chance to steal him back!”

[From Enquirer, print edition, October 8, 2012]

Honestly, I cannot see Joshua dumping Diane to get back with Katie at all. Their relationship must have failed for a reason, and Joshua and Diane have such a good thing going that he’d be a fool to throw it all away. Also (and this was during Diane’s Inglourious Basterds promotion in 2009), Diane once said that she never watched “Dawson’s Creek” at all, and Joshua really liked this about her and even jokingly described her as “the perfect girl for me” as a result. Would Joshua really want to relive his past by going back to Katie? Probably not. Besides, Diane’s got much better style than Katie too.

By the way, here are some photos of Katie with Suri Cruise at the park a few days ago. Suri looks so damn happy, and Radar Online reports that Suri is already learning Chinese at her new school. Not bad for a first grader, right?

Diane Kruger in a silver Azzedine Alaia gown in NYC: beautiful or busted?

Good God, Diane Kruger is pretty. Right? Sometimes she just takes my breath away. These are photos from last night’s MOMA screening of Diane’s new film, Farewell, My Queen in NYC. In the film, Diane plays Marie Antoinette and the film is described as an “Upstairs, Downstairs” look at palace life before and during the French Revolution. Diane is getting solid-to-excellent reviews, and perhaps she might even be up for some awards this year. That would be a treat, wouldn’t it? Getting to see Diane on multiple red carpets for several months – that would make my year.

Anyway, as you can see, Diane looked awesome at the screening. She wore a beautifully tailored gown by Azzedine Alaia – a design house known for their excellent tailoring on skin-tight dresses and gowns. I like Diane’s styling too – although Diane rarely looks “warm” you know? She rarely looks “accessible”. She tends to look icy and untouchable. Which isn’t the worse thing when you’re trying to become a style icon. For my money, Diane is taking her cues from Nicole Kidman circa 2003. Same kind of vibe.

And I still love that Joshua Jackson is so loyal and he will literally go anywhere Diane wants him to go. He just follows her around like a puppy. A sexy puppy. No, that’s the wrong way to say it. He’s a good boy!

Diane Kruger styles Joshua Jackson for Chanel show: cute or emasculated?

Coming off of yesterday’s “controversial” Diane Kruger post, this one shouldn’t incite too much emotion. Diane and her lover Joshua Jackson were in Paris for the Chanel show yesterday – and dear God, were they adorable. They’re like dolls. She’s a German Barbie and he’s sort of like… Canadian Ken. She plays with Josh like he’s a doll too – look at the way he’s styled!! That’s all Diane, you know it is. She was like, “Darling, this is what you need to wear. Loafers, no socks. Shave. Look goofy and sweet.” No, she never has to tell him “Look goofy and sweet.” He ALWAYS looks like that. I do love them together. I love that he’s totally fine with Diane styling him like a doll. But dear God, I really dislike the no-socks-with-fancy-loafers look on heterosexual men. As for Diane… the beret is cute. I would imagine that Karl Lagerfeld styled her.

More photos from the Chanel show… Milla Jovovich in a cute Chanel suit. This is actually my favorite look of the whole fashion event. I just wish she was standing up straight.

Sofia Coppola looks incredibly chic here.

We get it, Michael Pitt. You are SO COMPLICATED AND HARDCORE.

The rare Alexa Chung photo where she doesn’t look so wonk-eyed. I think she might have gained one pound too.

Take a moment and just imagine what your life would be like if these two were your parents. OMG. PS… Look at Karl’s booties!!!!!!!!!!

Diane Kruger on her diet: “When I am really busy, I will forget to eat”

Diane Kruger has a nice little interview in the new issue of Hello Magazine (the one with TomKat on the cover). I’m not sure what the point of it is, considering Diane isn’t promoting a movie right now, but she discusses skincare, diet, makeup and some other stuff. CB pointed me to this piece because she thought this quote from Diane was noteworthy: “It will sound really pretentious, but when I am really busy I will forget to eat.” Oh for the love of…!!! I really dislike when women say that, but I know SO MANY women who say stuff like that, and maybe it’s true. Maybe there are women who really “forget” to eat. I don’t understand that – sometimes I get so busy, I make a conscious choice to skip a meal or work through a lunch or something, but I never FORGET. My stomach won’t let me! So… I don’t understand the whole “Eating just slips my mind.” Anyway, some highlights from the Hello piece:

Diane does her own makeup: “It’s because I feel that less is more, especially on the red carpet. I used to have my makeup done, but I would look at the pictures and not recognize myself. I want to look like myself. Even though it’s a special occasion, I still want to look like me, I don’t want to be this done-up doll. I think that too much makeup takes away from your individuality. Luckily, I love makeup and I used to model, so I feel confident doing it myself.”

Skincare: “When I moved to LA, I noticed that the sun was so much hotter than I was used to and I started to get a few sun spots. So I went to a dermatologist who advised me never to go out without wearing SPF. And I always use the same moisturizer, Roseliane d’Uriage. You can’t get it in the US, so it’s one of the products I stock up on when I’m in France at the pharmacy.”

Other tips: “I try to get nine hours’ sleep a night – it’s really that simple. I also noticed a great improvement in my skin when I gave up smoking. There are no secret potions, though.”

Staying in shape: “I only dance when I go out. For exercise, I tend to like the outdoors. In Paris, I rent a bike in the street and cycle around, and in LA I live up in the hills so I go hiking a lot. I like to stay fit by being generally active.”

Eating/diet: “I do watch what I eat, but not for weight reason. It will sound really pretentious, but when I am really busy I will forget to eat. I feel like I am a little skinny right now because I have just finished a movie and have been flying lots. I try to avoid all processed food, too.”

[Via Hello Magazine, print edition]

She remembers skin care, she’s focused on doing her own makeup, and yet somehow maintaining a bare minimum level of sustenance slips her mind? As I said, I know lots of women claim that. I just think there’s a difference between “forgetting” and “remembering that you should eat something but making a choice to do something else.” Also: I think Diane would look even more gorgeous with 15 more pounds on her frame.

Here are some pics of Diane and Joshua Jackson at the Euro Cup final match between Spain and Italy. I love how normal they look. I love that Josh is chugging a beer, and I love that they both seem into the game:

Diane Kruger wears a ridiculous Dior gown & the Cannes Film Festival wrap-up

Well, the Cannes Film Festival has drawn to a close. Surprisingly, the most Americanized Cannes Film Festival in years had no American winners. There were no French winners either. A French-language film (from an Austrian director), Amour, did take home the Palme d’Or (the biggest prize). Amour is a story about an older man taking care of his wife who has had a stroke, and both roles are played by beloved French actors. From what the Los Angeles Times is saying (read their wrap-up here), the jury liked Garrett Hedlund in On the Road (not enough to give him anything though) and they liked Matthew McConaughey in Mud. Other films that weren‘t received all that well: Lawless (Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf film), The Paperboy (that awful-sounding Nicole Kidman film) and Cosmopolis, which didn‘t even get an American distributor. Critics liked Moonrise Kingdom and Killing Them Softly (Brad Pitt’s latest), but there isn’t a lot of early awards buzz for either.

Cannes juror Diane Kruger wore this ridiculous Dior gown for the closing ceremonies. How can you even sit down in that? Also: Bonus Ewan McGregor.

Here are more photos from the closing ceremonies and red carpet at Cannes. Mads Mikkelsen won Best Actor for his portrait of a teacher falsely accused of molesting a student.

Andie MacDowell and her daughter, Sarah Margaret Qualley. Great genes. Andie wore Armani, Sarah wore Elie Saab.

Kylie Minogue, looking pretty (and Botoxy) in Roberto Cavalli.

Alec Baldwin and his 20-something girl, Hilaria Thomas. Her dress looks really budget.

Audrey Tautou in…?? Chanel, maybe? Vintage? I don’t know. I think Audrey is very pretty, but her style is very… cloying. At times.

Kirsten Dunst in Louis Vuitton at the amfAR gala: bumpy or just an unflattering gown?

I know I’ve called Bump Watch of Kirsten Dunst several times in the past, but seriously, doesn’t Kiki look pregnant here? These are more photos from the Cannes Film Festival amfAR gala last night – Kiki is the reigning Queen of Cannes (she won Best Actress last year), so she gets to be the header of this post. Kiki’s gown is Louis Vuitton – I think it’s fug. I don’t mind her in blue (although this shade is too “precious”), but this dress is – at best – unflattering. Plus, we need to talk about whether Kiki is gestating a little Garrett Hedlund. In the profile shot, I’m not really seeing a “bump”. But look at her boobs! Kiki’s always had a nice bust, but I swear they’re bigger and I swear she’s got a case of Pregnant-Face.

Janet Jackson in Emilio Pucci. Oh, Ms. Jackson. I love you, girl, but we need to talk. I’m proud of you for losing weight, really and truly. But you need to stop messing with your face and you need to find a better makeup artist. And please don’t wear dresses that make your boobs look so wonky.

In another world, in another lifetime, I would love the chance to look like Doutzen Kroes for a day. She’s just so beautiful!! Doutzen wore this white Versace – I think she looks like an old-school, proper supermodel. She’s got that crazy, sexy, athletic-slim body and the Versace looks poured onto her. That’s Sunnery James, her husband and father of her son Phyllon.

Everyone is saying that Kim Kardashian “pulled an Angelina” in this mustard yellow dress (I can’t find the designer ID). I kind of like how everyone calls it “the Angelina” now whenever a girl throws her leg out on the red carpet. It’s been happening a lot lately too – lots of girls have been “pulling the Angelina.” As for Kim’s dress – meh. This shade of yellow is so difficult to pull off, and while it’s not great on Kim, it’s not as bad as it could be. The design is meh. Her face looks decent, though.

Diane Kruger in Chanel. The one time she wears Chanel and I think “Hm, is that Oscar de la Renta?” I’m not crazy about this, honestly. Diane kind of pulls it off with that whimsical little skirt, but her skinny legs worry me. Joshua looks cute.

Did Joshua Jackson secretly propose to anti-marriage Diane Kruger?

Diane Kruger isn’t interested in marriage. Not even to PACEY!! In several interviews over the past few years, Diane has let her anti-marriage bias come out when explaining her relationship to Joshua Jackson. She said that during her first marriage – to Guillaume Canet, who is now Marion Cotillard‘s baby-daddy – she “learned” that she doesn’t “believe in marriage. I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There’s no paper that will make you stay. A guy friend of mine said, and it made a lot of sense, that people should get married at the end of the road, not the beginning.” She’s also talked about eventually having Joshua’s babies and settling down with him in Paris too. So… I think Diane and Joshua are solid and I could definitely see them having babies at some point. But I think Diane is pretty clear about not wanting to be remarried. So what do you make of this?

Joshua Jackson helped Prince Albert and former President Bill Clinton raise more than $750,000 for their respective foundations Wednesday night at the first-ever “Nights in Monaco” benefit dinner in Monte Carlo.

Benefit officials said the Fringe star, 33, accompanied by his longtime love, Diane Kruger, won a necklace by designer Carla Amorim with a bid of $45,000, reportedly saying it was an engagement present for her.

Jackson and Kruger, 35, who wore a cream-colored Prabal dress, and Rose McGowan, wearing Monique Lhuillier, were among the celebrities who drove in from the Cannes Film Festival for the dinner at the Hotel de Paris.

Prince Albert hosted the gala with his sister Princess Caroline and Albert’s cousin Baroness Elizabeth-Anne de Massy, and President Clinton gave a brief speech.

Guests dined on farm-raised veal, fish, zucchini caviar and truffled vinaigrette from Hotel de Paris master chef Alain Ducasse.

Albert’s wife, Princess Charlene, was not present. Palace officials said the dinner was meant to be a “gentlemen’s evening” and that the 34-year-old princess did not want to “take away” from Albert and Clinton’s announcement that their foundations will work together on global issues such as environment, health issues and more.

Reps for the actors didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

[From People]

It’s in People Mag – not just idle speculation. Of course, it could just be a wonky report, or someone misheard something. OR Joshua did propose and Diane said yes? Joshua seems like such a nice guy, and he’s always struck me as more “traditional”. Maybe he wants to marry his lady before he knocks her up? How quaint!

UPDATE: People Mag updated their online article with this line: “Sources close to the couple, however, say engagement buzz is not true.” Nuts!

Here are some photos of Diane and Joshua at the “Nights in Monaco” benefit dinner. Diane’s dress is Prabal Gurung. Why does Diane make every dress look like Chanel? It’s a gift. And isn’t Joshua a tall drink of scruffy handsome? *SIGH*

Diane Kruger in pale Nina Ricci in Cannes: gorgeous & stunning?

I know I promised not to go overboard with Diane Kruger photos during our Cannes Film Festival coverage, but in my defense, Diane is one of the few higher-profile celebrity women at Cannes this year. Sure, there have been lots of ladies and lots of fashion moments, but most of the ladies are really budget, and lots of the fashion has been really boring. Thus, I keep talking about Diane. These are pics of Diane and Joshua Jackson supporting Diane’s Inglorious Basterd buddy Brad Pitt at last night’s premiere of Killing Them Softly. No, she didn’t come out just to support Brad – she’s on the jury.

Diane’s gown is Nina Ricci. I think we should give her more credit for wearing lots of different designers throughout the festival, right? I think we should also give The House of Nina Ricci credit for designing a beautiful gown that, upon first glance, I was sure was Chanel. Honestly, I think this is a lot prettier than most of crap Karl Lagerfeld is doing these days. As for Joshua – so, so cute.

Cassie in Roberto Cavalli at the Killing Them Softly premiere. You know what? This kind of works. Granted, her hair is ridiculous. But as a whole look, I kind of get it. And I like it.

Michelle Rodriguez at the Killing Them Softly premiere. I think Michelle is so beautiful, but this dress is terrible on her. It looks like an ill-fitting wedding gown.

Another Michelle photo, from two nights ago, at the Chopard event. Good color on her, but dress, though.

Kelly Brook at a Chopard event two nights ago – I like the color on her, her body looks amazing, but the look as a whole is kind of off. I can’t decide if I’m seeing too much of her foundation garments or she needs MORE.

Irina Shayk in Roberto Cavalli at a photo call for de Grisogono. Pretty girl, nice figure, but she’s one of the girls that I find so interchangeable. I wouldn’t be able to pick her out of a lineup of Victoria’s Secret models. This Cavalli dress only emphasizes that – I imagine every model has a version of this little sparkly dress.

Diane Kruger in gold Vivienne Westwood in Cannes: perfection?

Ah, Cannes. I really feel like Cannes has been kind of boring this year, but I have high hopes that things start picking up throughout the week. Brad Pitt’s movie premieres tomorrow. Nicole Kidman is due at the festival later on in the week – she’s always good for a fashion moment on the French red carpet. But for now, I’m making due with jury member Diane Kruger and some assorted British C-listers. First: La Kruger in Vivienne Westwood. OMG. I LOVE IT. I like when Diane goes full-on glam and doesn’t try to work an unconventional style. She’s so beautiful, and she really does try to change up her look from day to day, premiere to premiere. And I completely cosign everything about this – love her hair, love her makeup, love the corseted bodice of the Westwood gown, love it all. The shoes look like torture devices, but Diane pulls it off. Also – she was there with Joshua Jackson. How cute are they?

Ewan McGregor, just because.

Next: Cheryl Cole in Stephane Rolland Couture. I can’t say I’m wild about this, but you know how I feel about feathers in general, and feathered trains in particular. Plus, in many photos, the red feathers are the exact shade as the carpet, so there’s a weird effect of Cheryl looking like she’s erupting (in a volcano of feathers) onto the red carpet. Also: she still wears WAY too much makeup. There’s no need to spackle it on like that.

Kelly Brook was in Cannes too! The white dress is for a photo call, the printed jumpsuit is just her casual Cannes look. The white is pretty, although somewhat Kardashian-esque. The jumpsuit is terrible.

Diane Kruger versus Tilda Swinton: who looks better in Cannes?

These are some of the first photo sets out of the Cannes Film Festival, which opens today. Did you know that Ewan McGregor, Diane Kruger and Jean-Paul Gaultier are all judges on the festival jury this year? True story. These are some pics from the “jury photo call” earlier today. Diane wore Versus and Jimmy Choo heels, and I’m not crazy about either. I mean, I love Diane. I think she’s so beautiful and she can wear different kinds of styles and you can just tell that she loves fashion. But this dress doesn’t look comfortable and I hate the shoes with the dress. By the way, while I’ve got your attention – the next week and a half will be full of lots of Kruger and McGregor photos – should we cover every fashion moment, every glance? My general thoughts: we should wait until Diane wears something spectacular, because otherwise we’ll get Kruger’d out. Also: what’s the over-under on Diane and Ewan having a torrid Cannes affair? Slim?

Second photo set: the photo call for Wes Anderson’s new film, Moonrise Kingdom. While I have my doubts about Wes Anderson’s general vibe as a writer/director, I do think the man has a gift for putting interesting actors together in the same film. This film stars Bruce Willis, Bill Murray and TILDA SWINTON!!! And they all look adorable and amazing. I think Bill and Tilda are probably from the same alien colony. Oh, and I LOVE Tilda’s outfit and her crazy sunglasses. YAY!
