Raising Sextuplets parents separate after father’s arrest

wenn28881821
The stars of WE reality series Raising Sextuplets, Brian and Jennifer Masche, would occasionally compare themselves to Jon and Kate Gosselin on their show. They’re now much more like Jon and Kate, because they’re breaking up too. Dad Bryan can be verbally abusive to his wife and was often shown chewing her out on their show. Masche made headlines earlier this month when he was arrested for threatening his father in law while visiting family in Arizona. Masche was described in the police report as belligerent and to have resisted arrest. Now Jennifer has had enough of his cruel treatment and has filed for a legal separation.

Jennifer filed a petition for separation from her husband at Yavapi County Superior Court on September 17, 2010. The breakdown of their marriage comes after he was arrested in Arizona on September 1 following a family bust-up during which he allegedly shouted profanities at his wife and threatened to “flatten” his father-in-law.

Masche exclusively told RadarOnline.com that he was “not a criminal” but his wife has decided to call it quits on their relationship. He had been charged with two counts of disorderly conduct for domestic violence, one count resisting arrest and one count threatening domestic violence.

The couple were being touted as more positive reality role models than Jon and Kate Gosselin prior to his run-in with the law. Before his arrest, We TV admitted that the couple was seeing a relationship counselor. Masche allegedly refused to comply with deputies’ commands and that’s when he was arrested. Their children were not in the house at the time.

He was taken to the Yavapai County Detention Center where he was booked and released on a $3,500 bond.

Jennifer is a physician’s assistant at a hospital in their new hometown of Destin, Florida. Their sextuplets, three girls and three boys, were born in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 11, 2007. The couple got married in January 2, 2004, after Bryan asked Jennifer to marry him on National television at an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game in 2003.

Now it looks like just like she will have to follow in Kate Gosselin’s footsteps by raising her children by herself.

[From Radar Online]

Good for Jennifer. She’s probably better off raising those kids alone than with a guy who treats her like that. I wonder if we’re looking at another movie-star-in-training type like “Kate” though. Given the size of her inflated lips, the answer might be “yes.”

Radar has more on the separation filing, and Jennifer is asking for child support and sole physical and legal custody of their six children, with visitation for Bryan. She doesn’t want spousal support, nor does she want to have to pay spousal support to her estranged husband. It’s clear that Jennifer, a physician’s assistant, is the one who brings in more money. Brian was training for some kind of new career and clearly didn’t have the ability to earn a living yet. They really do seem like Jon and Kate.

Here are some clips from Raising Sextuplets. You can see the writing on the wall.

Cameron Crowe & Nancy Wilson divorcing after 20 years

wenn1204056

Sad news for anyone who is a fan of rock n’ roll. Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Cameron Crowe and his wife Nancy Wilson (of Heart) are divorcing after 20 years of marriage. Crowe is the writer/director of such films as the autobiographical Almost Famous (a favorite of mine), Vanilla Sky, Jerry Maguire and Singles. Nancy Wilson, in addition to her rock career, has worked with Crowe on many of his films, doing music arrangements, writing songs and working on the soundtrack. They have two children together. And they seemed really, really tight!

Court records show rocker Nancy Wilson has filed for divorce from writer-director Cameron Crowe after more than 20 years of marriage.

The Heart singer-guitarist cited irreconcilable differences for the divorce, which was filed Sept. 16.

The court filings say Wilson and Crowe separated in 2008.

They were married in 1986 and have twin 10-year-old sons. Wilson is seeking joint custody.

Crowe is known for directing films such as “Jerry Maguire” and “Say Anything.” He won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for the film “Almost Famous.”

[From HuffPo]

I wonder if there’s any scandal there? These days, you never can tell. I thought director Robert Rodriguez was a good guy and a solid family man, and he dumped his wife (and mother of his, like, four or five children) for actress Rose McGowen. So did Cameron leave his wife for some young actress? Did Nancy leave Cameron for some hot rock ‘n roll piece? I don’t know. Maybe it was just Elizabethtown and the badness that is Orly Bloom.

Here’s one of my favorite scenes from Almost Famous:

Did Elizabeth Moss’s Scientology beliefs lead to her divorce?

12 September 2009 - Los Angeles, California - Fred Armisen and Elisabeth Moss. 61st Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre LA Live. Photo Credit: Byron Purvis/AdMedia

Yesterday, Elizabeth Moss confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she had officially filed for divorce from Fred Armisen, her husband of less than a year. This caused Us Weekly to run some weeks-old quotes from unnamed sources about Moss’s Scientology being the real problem in their marriage, not the whole thing about Fred Armisen hooking up with his 23-year-old SNL costar Abby Elliot. We covered the quotes here, when the story came out in the print edition of Us Weekly, but now they’re getting more play – HuffPo’s story on this has already gotten more than 400 comments. WTF? I guess people didn’t know that little Peggy from Mad Men rolls with Xenu.

It’s really over. Elisabeth Moss filed divorce papers in Los Angeles Monday to end her brief marriage to Fred Armisen, Entertainment Tonight confirms. The Mad Men actress, 28, wed the Saturday Night Live performer, 43, last October.

According to court documents, the couple have been separated since late June.

“They had issues,” one insider told Us Weekly of the short-lived pair. One of those issues? Moss’s ties to the Church of Scientology.

“Her religion was as important to her as their marriage, if not more,” another pal told Us. “He could not get with it.”

Armisen isn’t brooding on his own. After their separation, he connected with SNL costar Abby Elliot, 23. “Fred sought comfort in her after the split,” another source says, adding that Moss is “fine” with his new relationship.

“They are both moving on.”

[From Us Weekly]

I’ll say it again – I think Moss’s Scientology probably played a role in their split, but I’m not giving Fred Armisen a free pass either. He moved on so quickly it is suspicious, and it makes me sympathetic towards Moss. Plus, I just think she’s really talented and adorable, and I want her to hook up with someone interesting. Not The Hamm! But maybe Vincent Kartheiser…? He seems so weird though. Who would be good for my girl? I’m still drawing a blank.

Morgan Freeman’s divorce finalized, he’s now free to marry step-granddaughter

wenn220552

**The above photo is (left to right): E’Dena Hines, Myrna Colley-Lee, and Morgan.

After a very trying 26 years of marriage, Morgan Freeman has finalized his divorce from his second wife, Myrna Colley-Lee. According to previous reporting from The National Enquirer, Myrna and Morgan had been separated for the better part of three years, if not longer. The reasons for the divorce are officially unknown, meaning that no one is confirming anything at this point, but it’s widely believed that Morgan cheated on Myrna with several women, including one young woman that I’ll get to in one moment. First, the statement from Morgan’s lawyer:

After a quarter century of marriage, Morgan Freeman has officially divorced wife Myrna Colley-Lee. The former couple finalized their divorce in Mississippi on Wednesday, Freeman’s attorney William R. Wright confirmed to the Associated Press.

“It was done without a trial,” Wright said. “Everybody is glad it’s over.” Terms of the split are sealed.

The Oscar-winning actor, 73, wed costume designer Colley-Lee in July 1984. They separated back in December 2007, and filed for divorce the following year.

The couple have no children together; Freeman has two sons from previous relationships, and two children (including an adopted daughter) from his first marriage to Jeanette Bradshaw.

Freeman settled a lawsuit back in November 2009 involving a 2008 car accident with a woman named Damaris Meyer; Meyer claimed she was unfairly branded as “the other woman” following the crash and “accused of having caused the breakup of Mr. Freeman’s marriage.”

[From Us Weekly]

The hush-hush nature of the divorce agreement is very interesting, isn’t it? It could totally be that Morgan is a private guy. Sure. But it could also be so hush-hush because Myrna knows all about Morgan’s alleged, decade-long sexual relationship with his step-granddaughter, E’Dina Hines. The National Enquirer ran a series of high-profile pieces about Morgan and E’Dina’s relationship, making it seem like the whole affair began when E’Dena was still just a teenager, and that it’s continued to this day, with Morgan promising to marry the now 27-year-old E’Dena, and to have children with her. The Enquirer also claimed last year that Myrna was using Morgan’s relationship with E’Dena in the divorce negotiations – some thought that it was Myrna’s camp who was leaking the details of the affair. Very interesting.

Sandra’s reps drive their point into the ground: Jesse James has moved on

New tattooed couple, Kat Von D and Jesse James seem to have no qualms about showing their love for one another despite Jesse's sordid past indiscretions as they hold hands after dinging at Urth Cafe in West Hollywood, CA on September 3, 2010. Fame Pictures, Inc
We’ve seen all sorts of photos of Jesse James out with his supposed new girlfriend, L.A. Ink’s Kat Von D. Kat has told anyone who will listen that she’s with Jesse, and she seems to be calling the paparazzi to let them know where to find the two of them when they’re out. People magazine now has a completely unnecessary and rather lame-sounding story about how Jesse has moved on and is no longer fixated on repairing the relationship with Sandra Bullock that he sh*t all over. We get it, we got it, and this additional story is just giving this whole “romance” the whiff of a set up. I’m not saying that Jesse isn’t boning Kat, the guy would take any tattooed piece in his immediate vicinity, but that all the photos and quotes are overkill. I still love Sandra, but I’d love her a little more if her people weren’t so damn obvious. They didn’t need to tell us when Jesse was working his pitiful act trying to earn back her good graces, and they don’t need to tell us when he’s with another woman. The event photos were plenty. Here’s People story, and try not to groan too much:

“It sure looks like he’s moved on,” a James insider tells PEOPLE about the motorcycle mogul, who is settling into his new relationship with Kat Von D and his new home in Austin, Texas. “It doesn’t look like he’s hiding anything now.”

Just two months after his divorce from Sandra Bullock was finalized in an Austin courtroom, James’s self-professed broken heart looks to be on the mend. He was initially cautious about going public with his romance with the L.A. Ink star, says the source, and he asked Von D to remove a Tweet confirming that the two were dating after they were spotted having dinner together in Las Vegas on Aug. 14.

But then the couple spent the last two weekends together. On Aug. 29, James, 41, was seen with Von D, 28, in Texas on a motorcycle road trip that included smooching, handholding and antique shopping in the quaint tourist town of Fredericksburg.

Later, James accompanied Von D to Sept. 2′s very public opening of her Wonderland gallery in West Hollywood and spent the rest of the Labor Day weekend out with her.

“My guess is that he’s realizing he won’t get another chance with Sandra and has given up on that,” says the source. “[Jesse and Kat] have known each other for a while. I think the opportunity presented itself with neither of them being involved with anyone and it happened.”

[From People]

Note to reps: you do not have to issue lame ass “insider” statements to People Magazine. The 90s were twenty years ago and we like to draw our own conclusions now. You’re welcome to point us in that direction with obvious photo opportunities for your clients. (Which again are usually obvious, so do it in moderation.) Beyond that, it just seems so desperate to issue “insider quotes” telling us how to think.

In other news about these two tattooed lovers, The National Enquirer reports that Jesse has already proposed to Kat, because he needs a gullible woman at home to be his rock while he bones chicks at work. They write that “[Jesse has] proposed to… Kat Von D – but he’s asked [her] to be patient for his kids’ sake and wait for a secret summer wedding next year.” The Enquirer quotes an insider who claims “They’re in love and even planning on doing some business ventures together. But he knows it’s going to be a big transition for his kids, and he wants to take his time so they can get to know Kat better.” Could Jesse be that stupid? He’s been married and divorced three times so far and he’s only 41, so yes.

Sandra Bullock tries to keep a low profile as she makes her way to her restaurant Bess Bistro in Austin, Texas on August 25, 2010. It's been an eventful month for Bullock as things got shaken up yet again after it seemed the media frenzy involving her personal life had begun to die down. It was revealed that her ex-husband Jesse James had begun dating famed tattoo artist Kat Von D, and had officially relocated his family to Austin so his children, who Sandra has helped raise, could continue to be close to Sandra. It's a wonder how the scorned actress is taking news of Jesse's new romance right on the heels of him trying to keep her in his life. Fame Pictures, Inc

US Weekly: Jesse James ‘has been really angry & mean’ to Sandra

wenn5536236
US Weekly has a new story this week about how Jesse is rubbing his romance with Kat Von D in Sandra’s face. We’ve heard this before from the tabloids, and frankly I think that Sandra’s team is encouraging Jesse to go out with Kat so that it looks like she’s well over him. I also believe, like Kaiser, that Kat is calling the paps on herself as she’s eager to soak up the publicity. US has a little more than the other gossip rags, though, and claims that Jesse is being a real bastard to Sandra and that he’s not even civil with her. That sounds likely. Here’s part of US’s report:

Locals can’t stand Jesse James
Even though James owns a motorcycle shop in the area and just moved into a $1.8 million house in Austin (so that his kids, Sunny, 6, Jesse Jr., 12, and Chandler, 16, could eb close to their future stepmom, says a source), locals aren’t exactly welcoming him with open arms. “If Jesse is coming to Texas now, Sandy might leave Austin for good,” frets the Bullock source. “Losing a gem like Sandy would be sad for the Lone Star State!”

Jesse is mean to Sandra
Not surprisingly, “things are really tense between Sandy and Jesse,” says a source. His rebound romance aside, “Jesse has been really angry. He’s mean to hear. They’re not on good terms.” Though she still sees his kids, “she does not see him,” says another insider. “She is still very bitter and has not forgiven him.”

[From US Weekly, print edition, September 20, 2010]

That sounds just like Jesse, to be angry and giving Sandra the cold shoulder for refusing to put up with the fact that he slept around with a bunch of skanks. It’s not like Sandra ever had a cross word to say about him to the press, either. He probably thinks she should be kissing his ass for bringing his kids to live near her, even though it was a lame attempt to get her to fall for his bullsh*t yet again. Now that she’s not playing his game any more, his true miserable self can come out, rage at the world, and get used by Kat Von D for some PR.

Oh and we already addressed the “Kat is pregnant, she has a bump” rumors, (which was denied by her rep to Gossip Cop) but I just wanted to add that she’s had that food bump for some time. I remember seeing photos of her in 2007 in which she was puffing out her stomach and pregnancy rumors followed. She made a joke on her show at the time that she was pregnant. It looks like she just gains weight in that area. She probably wore that tight Leger dress so that people would talk about her.

Naomi Campbell in Venice with her Russian: is his divorce ever going to happen?

naomi_campbell_10_wenn2984257

I was just looking through these new photos of Naomi Campbell and her boyfriend/fiancé at the Venice Film Festival, and I had several questions. First of all, why would Naomi wear such a hideously dated look? This dress looks like it came from the section of her closet labeled “1991”. Second question: If you’re a designer who is going for “sleek” and “horizontal stripes,” why not just do that for the whole dress? Why “jazz it up” with some trashy fringe at the bottom? Third question: Is Naomi wearing toeless fishnets?!? Fourth question: what’s up with her weave? It’s looking particularly thick, and I can’t make out any bald spots.

My next series of questions are about Vladimir/Vlasislav Doronin, the Russian beefcake in the photos, and Naomi’s boyfriend/fiancé. First: is that absolutely enormous emerald (cabochon?) ring her engagement ring? Allegedly, it is. Here’s a closer look:

naomi_campbell_03_wenn2984261

Now, for the real questions about Naomi and Vladimir/Vladislav. Is his “divorce” ever going to come through? You know he’s still technically married to a nice Russian girl and they have kids together, and he told Oprah (OPRAH!) that he and Naomi were totally getting married and that he and his wife were totally getting a divorce. Nothing seems to be happening, though. From what I can find, the Russian sources are still very “meh” about this story – perhaps international homewrecking isn’t as juicy a tabloid story for the Russian media? I did find this recent article from The Moscow Times – it’s mainly about Russian model Natalia Vodianova and how she and her British aristocrat husband are maybe about to split (they have three kids together!). The Moscow Times compares the Russian tabloid reporting of a possible split to Russian tabloid reporting that Naomi and Dornin will ever get married. Which is to say “unlikely.” Now, the divorce could be held up because they’re still negotiating some kind of settlement – after all, most sources have him listed as a “billionaire.”

My final question: can you imagine the international hissy fit that Naomi will have if Dornin doesn’t ever get around to getting a divorce? Oh, it will be epic. There will be no un-thrown phones from New York to Moscow. They will have to sic Interpol on her ass. There will be an international task force of elite crime fighters tasked to take her down.

Tiger Woods: “it feels good to be able to control my ball all day”

I wanted to make fun of Tiger Woods for this quote he gave after getting his groove back on the golf course post-divorce. Tiger said “it feels good to be able to control my ball all day.” I know it’s childish, but it made me chuckle. Tiger improved his game quite a bit after struggling for months with a comeback that looked like it would never happen, and he did it not-so-coincidentally right after his divorce was finalized. So is the old Tiger back, and should hostesses and Ho-Jos waitresses look out? Probably, especially if they’re hoping to get more than unprotected sex out of the tightwad. Tiger finished in a tie for 12th at the Barclay’s in Paramus, NJ. That’s not up to his regular performance, but it’s much better than he’s been doing. Here’s People’s report:

After struggling for months, Tiger Woods jumped out to an impressive start Thursday in his first golf tournament since finalizing his divorce from Elin Nordegren.

At The Barclays in New Jersey, Woods made a staggering seven birdies to finish the day sharing the lead with another pro with a score of 65, his best round of the year.

“It feels good to be able to control my ball all day like this,” Woods told reporters.

Asked if wrapping up his divorce removed a burden, he responded, “I can’t really say that’s the case.”

All he knows is he’s feeling like the old Tiger, and the golf press agress. USA Today gushes, “Woods is making a shambles of the course.”

[From People]

Tiger gave a lot of other quotes and you know People cheekily picked the one with that was the best double entendre. He also said he was “very pleased” with his performance and “I found something in my stroke today which was good.” It’s hard to take this guy’s statements at face value or to think about him without imagining him an Ambien-fueled romp.

There’s a related story that Tiger’s ex Elin is considering using some of her settlement money to open up a clinic for children from broken homes. This story seems to have originated in the Sunday Times of London, which reports that Elin, who is studying for a degree in psychology, wants to help children of divorce. Elin’s parents divorced when she was just six, so she has first hand experience with this issue. This story could be accurate as the reporter from People Magazine who did Elin’s interview said on the Today Show that Elin wanted to help children from broken homes.

Associates say Nordegren has been discussing with her twin sister, Josefin, a London-based lawyer, how she might use part of her settlement to help broken families and, in particular, children.

“Elin has a lot of ideas, including setting up her own clinic to help poorer children suffering from mental illnesses such as depression, eating disorders and hypertension, which can result from living in a broken family.”

“Maybe it’s not surprising, but she feels strongly that children are the real victims when marriages fail,” said one of her campus colleagues.

[From The NY Post]

That sounds like a great way for Elin to use some of her millions to help kids. I hope she moves forward with this as she could do a lot of good. It looks like Tiger will be able to afford those undoubtedly steep child support payments for some time too.

Tiger Woods says he’s sad (he got caught)

Yesterday we heard advance details from Elin Woods’ interview in People Magazine. Elin spent 19 hours over several days with People’s reporter. She told them that she had no idea before that Thanksgiving night that Tiger was cheating, that she never hit Tiger with a golf club as rumored, and that she was devastated. “The world betrayal isn’t strong enough. I felt like my whole world had fallen apart” Elin would not discuss the details of the night of Tiger’s accident nor would she disclose the settlement amount she received from Tiger. (Which is thought to be upwards of $100 million, although numbers in the media may be pure speculation.) One thing that I found interesting is that Elin has been working on her bachelors degree in Psychology by taking night classes at a local college for years and she’s just 40 credits away from graduating. The reporter who spoke to her said on The Today Show yesterday that Elin hopes to become a counselor and work with children from broken homes.

Some of you were disappointed that Elin finally granted an interview, which she claims will be her only one, after remaining silent for nearly nine months. I can’t blame her for wanting to get her side of the story out there. I also think that she did it with a lot of grace and tact, especially considering all the sordid details we’ve heard in the interim. If she paid any attention to the news, and if it’s true that she had no idea about her husband’s infidelity until last November, she must have been flabbergasted and fuming.

In response to the news of Elin’s interview, Tiger initially issued a brief statement saying “Elin is a wonderful mother. I know that the two of us will do everything we can to help our children adjust to this new family situation.” He’s since given a press conference in which he talked about his career and addressed questions about Elin’s interview and their divorce, which just became final this week.

Woods today added to that statement at a press conference where he again emphasised the importance of his children.

‘It’s a sad time in our lives,’ he told reporters at The Barclays golf tournament in New Jersey.

‘I wish her [Nordegren] the best in everything. We’re looking forward to how we can help our kids the best way we possibly can. And that’s the most important thing.’

When a reporter asked Woods if he still loves Nordegren, he didn’t answer, instead repeating; ‘That’s the most important thing.’

Woods was also asked whether he felt relief at the split. He said: ‘I don’t think that’s the word. I think it’s just more sadness.

‘Because I don’t think you ever go into a marriage looking to get divorced. That’s the thing. That’s why it is sad.’

The golfer also appeared to express regret for his past behaviour.

‘My actions certainly led us to this decision,’ he said. ‘And I’ve certainly made a lot of errors in my life and that’s something I’m going to have to live with.’

After saying that the divorce ‘was a lot more difficult than I was letting on,’ Woods referred to his wife’s People interview.

‘I certainly understand that she is sad,’ he said. ‘And I feel the same way.’

Earlier, in a statement to the magazine, he again discussed his two children.

‘Personally, I am learning to balance family and golf. My children come first and always will, but I also appreciate golf more than ever,’ he said.

He added that he cherished the time he was able to spend with the children, describing how he enjoys nothing more than hitting balls at the golf range with 18-month-old Charlie and taking three-year-old Sam to school.

Paying tribute to his ex-wife, who he called a ‘wonderful mother, ‘ Woods also called for privacy, saying: ‘This is a very painful, personal and private time for our family.’

[From The Daily Mail]

His people told him to say he was “sad” and maybe he is, but it came off as a talking point more than genuine sentiment, especially the way he kept repeating it as his go-to adjective. Elin put up with a lot and it does seem like Tiger feels guilty that he put her through all that. The guy was making very risky moves just waiting to get caught, though. On some level he must have known it was inevitable. Tiger’s golf game has really suffered in the past few months and his attempted comeback following the scandal hasn’t been successful. He’s still ranked number 1 in the world but he’s performed very poorly in recent tournaments and there are a lot of younger up-and-coming golfers ready to take his place. We’ll have to see if he ever gets his groove back or if he’ll be struggling for the rest of his career. No wonder he’s sad. He screwed up more than just his marriage and family.

Tiger Woods takes questions during a news conference after the practice round for the Barclays golf tournament in Paramus, New Jersey August 25, 2010. Woods said on Wednesday the break-up of his marriage was far more difficult for him than he had let on and that the fallout from his string of infidelities had poisoned his golf game. Woods, speaking to reporters for the first time since his divorce this week from his Swedish wife Elin Nordegren, also said he hopes he has learned to become a better person. Michael Douglas’ ex wife still fighting for his Wall St. sequel money

Lawyers for Michael Douglas and his ex-wife Diandra squared off in court on August 24 over rights to the earnings of the upcoming sequel to the movie Wall Street . Michael Douglas is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment for throat cancer, his rep confirms, but he says he’s “very optimistic” about his prognosis. Wall St.: Money Never Sleeps premieres in late September, and from my calculations Douglas will be about 6 weeks in to an 8 week course of treatment at that time (depending on when he started). We’ll have to see if he makes the premiere or does any promotion for the film, but he’s already canceled interviews and people will of course understand if he has to skip the premiere. There’s one thing that Douglas isn’t putting off, though, and that’s the court battle with his ex wife over the Wall St. sequel. According to the terms of Douglas’ 2000 divorce with his first wife, Diandra Luker, Luker is eligible for 50% of his earnings from any “spin offs” of films he made when they were together, from 1977 to 2000. That includes residuals and merchandising rights! Luker got a hefty $45 million dollar settlement in 2000, but she’s looking for more since the original Wall St. movie was made during their marriage in 1987. She’s claiming that Wall St 2: Money Never Sleeps fits the definition of a “spin off.” Instead of delaying a hearing over this issue, as Luker has volunteered to do, Douglas wants it to move forward as scheduled and allegedly wants to “get it over with.”

Despite being diagnosed with throat cancer, Michael Douglas refuses to delay his court battle with ex-wife Diandra Douglas over her claim that she’s entitled to half his earnings from the upcoming ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,’ which opens Sept. 24. Diandra had offered to postpone the hearing, but “Michael declined — he wants to get this over with as soon as possible,” a source told Page Six. Lawyers representing the actor and his ex tangled in a New York court Tuesday.

The suit appears to hinge on a clause in Michael and Diandra’s divorce settlement that entitles her to 50 percent of any earnings Michael receives from any movies he did — including residuals, merchandising and ancillary rights — during their 23-year marriage. According to Diandra’s lawyers, that provision includes any “spinoffs” of Douglas’ movies.

That, her camp says, should include director Oliver Stone’s ‘Wall Street’ follow-up, in which Michael reprises his Oscar-winning role as Gordon Gekko.

But Michael’s lawyer, Marilyn B. Chinitz, says his ex is misinterpreting the agreement, and it doesn’t apply to the ‘Wall Street’ sequel because it wasn’t on the horizon when the two split, and he couldn’t have guaranteed that he’d be in a sequel if one were ever made.

“When does it stop? … She’s not Mrs. Michael Douglas” anymore, Chinitz told a judge Tuesday. “It’s enough. It’s time for Ms. Douglas to move on and let Mr. Douglas move on and enjoy his life, without having to concern himself with someone trying to claw back moneys that they’re not entitled to.”

Since their divorce, Diandra has made $6.3 million from her stake in residual proceeds from other past projects, Chinitz said.

Diandra’s lawyer, Nancy Chemtob, says her client isn’t money-hungry and isn’t clinging to her ex-husband. “She has her own identity, and she’s proud of it,” Chemtob said. “My client is not greedy. The exact opposite is true. Mr. Douglas is seeking to shirk his financial responsibility that was entered into when he signed this contract.”

Michael and Diandra’s divorce remains one of the costliest in Hollywood history. The pair’s split was bitter, to say the least, with Diandra accusing Michael of sex and alcohol addiction and multiple infidelities. In 2007, Forbes magazine compiled a list of the 10 most expensive celebrity divorces and listed the Douglases’ at number eight. Diandra walked away with an estimated $45 million and the couple’s homes in Beverly Hills and Majorca.

Michael’s legal team is seeking to have the case dismissed, arguing that the suit should never have been filed in New York in the first place, as the couple’s divorce was finalized in California, and that the case has no merit because ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ is a sequel, not a “spinoff.” “They’re not the same thing,” Chinitz said in an earlier hearing.

I’m honestly torn on this issue. MSat first reported this story and told Luker “it’s time to go out and get a job and earn your own damn money.” I definitely see her point, and the fact that Luker has already earned a whopping $6.3 million post-divorce on top of the $45 million she already got makes her look like a gold digger of the highest order. She was married to Douglas for 23 years, though, and she had a great lawyer and worked out a very favorable deal for herself. She’s trying to enforce it and get half of Wall St. 2. In a way I don’t blame her, as greedy as it looks. Now that Douglas has cancer, though, she’s looking less like an ex wife trying to maintain a lifestyle and more like someone sponging off a rich ex using a divorce clause that never should have been there in the first place. Maybe Douglas is hoping the judge will see it that way too.
