Another day, another “LeAnn Rimes: pay attention to me” story. That’s basically what they all boil down to. When something actually notable and maybe legitimate happens in LeAnn’s tailored for public consumption life, she jumps on it like a small mangy dog humping your leg, a dog that would hump your leg even if you were wearing sandpaper pants. So a drunk driver crashed through the gate on LeAnn’s property, and no one was hurt since they were either away or safely ensconced in their home, which was probably a full country lane down from the accident, but of course LeAnn had to tweet all about it. She predictably got sanctimonious about it too, and was so happy to lecture us on the dangers of drunk driving.

On Monday morning, a car — driven by a suspected drunk driver — plowed into the fence of the home shared by LeAnn Rimes, husband Eddie Cibrian and his two sons.

Police confirmed to E! News that a 20-year-old driver with a suspended license knocked over a stop sign before smacking into a light pole and fence of the singer and actor’s gated community home. The unidentified driver is believed to have been under the influence, but toxicology reports are pending.

Rimes, 30, flew out of town on Monday night to North Carolina, but talked about the incident via Twitter.

“To address the accident that happened in front of our home this morning, everyone is ok and safe. However, if drunk driving was involved it is terribly sad,” she wrote.

“My family could have been seriously injured and any situation where someone is drinking and driving should not be taken lightly. Needless to say, it was a very unsettling call to receive this morning. Thank goodness the young driver and everyone at home are ok.”

She replied to a tweet with, “Yes, we are ok. I’m sure it will hit me when I go home tonight and see our fence. The pics are terrifying.”

This happened to LeAnn’s house, maybe-not-so-coincidentally, on the exact same day that her nemesis, her husband Eddie’s ex wife Brandi Glanville, appears in her second episode on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Cue dramatic hamster. Brandi has a DUI in her past, and suddenly, on the day of the night that Brandi appears on television, a drunk driver plows into LeAnn’s fence. It all works too conveniently in LeAnn’s favor for my taste. I wouldn’t put it past her to have paid some dude to do this, although this is a stunt that seems way too hard to stage given that law enforcement is involved. E! got confirmation from the police department and everything.

There’s some adorable new photos from the set of Gangster Squad of Ryan Gosling making out with both Emma Stone and some variety of bulldog, although I could be wrong about the dog breed because I’m not terribly familiar with the “low to the ground” type of canine. Whatever the case, Ryan seems to be enjoying both of his co-stars on an equivalent level. He and Emma also make a cute onscreen couple together and — at least from the looks of these photos — appear to share more than passable chemistry. However, since Emma is otherwise occupied with Andrew Garfield offscreen, Ryan is out of luck if he desires her on more than a professional level. I wonder if he’ll take the bulldog to Disneyland instead?

On a related topic to Disney, the land of make believe, I agree with Kaiser that Gosling is probably playing the “nice guy” game while he leads something of a dual life; and this doesn’t necessarily extend only to his ways with women but also his own life in general. Perhaps Gosling has a secret past that he’s not terribly proud of, which just so happens to include a DUI arrest? According to this week’s Star, that is certainly the case:

Ryan Gosling was arrested for a DUI back in 2005, Star magazine is exclusively reporting.

The hunky Canadian was arrested by officers from the central Los Angeles station of the California Highway Patrol on March 17, 2005 according to L.A. County Superior Court.

He later pleaded “no contest” to a misdemeanor change of “exhibiting speed,” even though he was originally charged with “driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs” and “driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or greater.”

“Exhibiting speed” is frequently negotiated as a plea bargain by defense attorneys as an alternative to a more severe DUI charge.

The 30-year-old actor, who is currently starring as a stunt driver in the film, Drive, was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $849 in fines.

Obviously, Ryan has kept himself clean (or more likely, hired a driver) and made it through his two years of probation without further incident. Still, it’s pretty bothersome that he projects a relatively wholesome image complete with talk of wanting babies in the near future when he evidently didn’t take enough care to protect all of the young children on the road on that fateful evening. Yes, I’m probably being too harsh with that statement, but DUIs are not only completely reprehensible but also completely avoidable. Ryan appears to have learned those lessons, and I hope he stays out of trouble in the future. Meanwhile, how gorgeous does Emma Stone look all dressed up in mid-century garb in these photos? Total girl crush.

The toxicology results are in for Ryan Dunn, the Jackass castmember who died in a high speed car crash early Sunday morning. His passenger, a friend who was drinking with him at the bar until closing, was also killed. Dunn, 34, had a blood alcohol level of nearly .2, which is twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania where he died. Police estimate that he was driving from between 132-140 miles per hour in his Porsche 911 before he lost control.

Jackass star Ryan Dunn was drunk when he crashed his Porsche on a Pennsylvania highway while going as fast as 140 mph, according to police.

Dunn, 34, died along with his friend Zachary Hartwell, 30, from West Chester, Pa. Both men suffered “blunt and thermal trauma” in the crash, which turned Dunn’s car into a fireball, according to the autopsy report.

Dunn was driving at twice the legal limit, with authorities saying toxicology results put his blood alcohol concentration at 0.196 percent, while the legal state limit is 0.08.

Before the crash, the two men had been in a bar in West Chester; Dunn had Tweeted a photo of them drinking.

“The initial crash reconstruction investigation determined that Mr. Dunn’s vehicle was traveling between 132-140 mph at the time of the collision,” West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said in a statement.

There’s local news video of Bam Margera at the crash site where his best friend Ryan died, and it’s really heartbreaking. He seems to have had a premonition that something happened to Ryan, because he explains that he was in Arizona and started freaking out around the same time that Ryan passed, punching out the windows and ripping out the stereo even though he didn’t know about the accident yet and had no reason to be angry about anything.

Bam’s mom told the local press that she was always warning Ryan to drive slower, and his friends said the same. In the audio commentary for season 5 of their reality show Viva La Bam, Bam, his mom April and his friend Tim talk about what a bad driver Ryan was and how he was always driving too fast and getting in accidents. (You can hear their discussion on this video.) They said back then that Ryan would probably die in a car accident, and sadly he did. I’m not going to get into whether it’s ok to use this as a teachable moment when it just happened and people are mourning. I feel like if this was my friend I would be angry and upset if people brought it up so soon, and if a friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver I would be angry and upset if it wasn’t brought up or was somehow glossed over because the person died. It’s just sad and such a waste.

Yesterday we heard that Ryan Dunn of Jackass passed away after he suffered a fatal accident in the Porsche 911 he was driving, killing himself and a 30 year-old Jackass production assistant Zachary Hartwell. He had tweeted a photo of himself drinking that night before the accident and he looked blitzed out of his mind. A source from the bar told TMZ that Ryan had had three beers and three shots in the four hours he was there before leaving at 2:10 am, closing time. That doesn’t sound excessive for a man of his size but we have no way of verifying that. As of yet the cause of the accident is unknown, although police say “speed” was a factor, and given the state of the wreckage we may never know. It’s entirely possible that he swerved to avoid something or that his tire blew out, but circumstantial evidence suggests he was drunk.

Movie critic Roger Ebert recently tweeted something that a lot of people have been saying about this guy’s death, that “friends don’t let Jackasses drive drunk.” It’s harsh, but many people have that sentiment about this accident. (TMZ live recently covered a lot of those comments. One person wrote that she was surprised that this is the first time one of the Jackass guys has died. They do incredibly dangerous stunts for a living, after all.) In response, Dunn’s friend Bam Margera went off on Ebert, which is understandable.

Is there ever a time to say to someone who is hurt, or to say about someone who died, that they should not have been drinking and driving? Yes, definitely. I don’t want to get too personal, but a friend of recently mine got in an accident while he was drinking and I called him on it. He was injured so I waited a little to bring it up. I was so angry that he made that stupid decision and I had to say something to him about it. I did it because I love him, but some may think I was being insensitive and he bitched that I was the only one who told him I was angry that he was drinking when it happened. Still, I get why Dunn’s friends are upset at Ebert’s comments. There’s a way to be tactful in situations like this where someone has died. Ebert was dismissive and seemed to suggest that someone could have prevented that guy’s death. Surely that’s what his friends are beating themselves up over right now.

Update: Ebert has issued a response to this controversy on his blog, explaining his position. It’s very well written and backed up by examples in the press that support what he was trying to say, simply that the kid should not have driven drunk. Ebert’s Facebook page has been removed by Facebook for a terms of service violation after it was flagged. That’s ridiculous and seems completely arbitrary and unfair.

When I first heard this story I saw the picture of this chick, squinted and realized she looked vaguely familiar but that I had no idea who she was. Then I read that she was in Planet of the Apes, which I’ve seen, so that must explain it. Warren is 32 and has been in some movies recently that I’ve never heard of. She just got in a heap of trouble with the law in a DUI incident that is so ridiculous it sounds like a scripted scene out of a sitcom – or a random day in Lindsay Lohan’s life. Warren drunkenly rammed her Prius into three parked cars and drove away. When the cops tried to nab her she resisted arrest and kicked an officer. Then when she was being booked at the station she somehow took her handcuffs off (I guess they were the plastic kind) and ran out the back door. They got her again and she’s in jail at this point, probably trying to sleep it off.

Actress/model Estella Warren is in jail right now, after allegedly slamming into three cars, kicking a cop and escaping from the police station … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

The crazy incident occurred Monday night just before midnight. Cops say Warren was driving in L.A. when she struck 3 parked cars in her Toyota Prius. Warren drove away but cops spotted her and placed her under arrest for driving under the influence, though not before she resisted and kicked an officer.

Warren was taken to the police station in handcuffs, and during the booking process she managed to get out of her handcuffs and then run out the back door! Warren was quickly recaptured.

Warren is being booked for felony escape. We’re told she will also be booked for assault, hit and run and DUI.

As one law enforcement source told TMZ … “She was really hammered.”

This is one way to earn headlines again about ten years after you were supposed to be the next big thing. At least she didn’t hurt anyone. What’s next for her – Celebrity Rehab? She doesn’t have the name recognition to get her own reality show, although it doesn’t take much lately. We know she’s not above pulling stunts for ratings.

Jaime Pressly may seem like she has it all, but the woman is clearly hurting. She was arrested for DUI earlier this month and now it’s coming out that she owes money to the tax man and is breaking up with her husband of just over a year, entertainment lawyer Simran Singh. The breakup story is in this week’s In Touch and is unconfirmed for now, but the tax issue is pretty much public record:

The My Name Is Earl star, who is married to entertainment attorney Simran Singh, is in arrears to the tune of just over $637,000 in Federal and state taxes.

That’s according to public records uncovered by The Detroit News.

Here’s the break-down. The IRS filed a $260,370 tax lien filed against her on December 6.

This was on top of the $281,699 lien the IRS had filed against her September 8, which was for 2008 income taxes.

And just to round things out, another lien was filed against her by the State of California in the amount of $95,080. That went on the books June 21. – From Radar

What is wrong with all these celebrities that they can’t pay taxes like the rest of us schmucks? According to IMDB she has some projects coming out, and she’s also currently starring in some dumb Axe commercials showing guys how to “clean their [sports] balls so they’re more enjoyable to play with.” I’m serious and I just wasted two and a half minutes of my life watching one of the dumbest double entendres commercials I’ve ever seen. Ugh, I had already a story about Brandi Glanville and her appearance on The Talk when this story popped up, so you’re getting everything in one post. According to E! News, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are engaged. E!’s sources say, “though it didn’t happen on Halloween, [Eddie] indeed popped the question recently and the duo are engaged.” But LeAnn’s rep didn’t have a comment. Do you think this is for real? I don’t… just because I don’t think this is the kind of engagement roll-out that LeAnn would have wanted. We’ll see.

Anyway, onto to Brandi Glanville. She sat down yesterday for an interview on The Talk, CBS’s budget version of The View. The topic: why her life sucks! Pity poor me, LeAnn is a bad person, et cetera. As much as I am truly tired of LeAnn Rimes’ smug overshare, I’ve also gotten very tired of Brandi Glanville and her “LeAnn and Eddie are the root of all evil” act. She even basically blamed them for her DUI, claiming that ever since her divorce, she’s just been so lonely that “one to two glasses of wine is now three to four.” So why not just sit in her house, drinking alone and watching Miss Marple like all of us fancy respectable alkies casual drinkers? Why does she have to go out driving like a drunk maniac?

Get ready for fireworks: Brandi Glanville, Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife, says she is finally “going to go and sit down and talk” to LeAnn Rimes. She made the announcement Thursday on the new daytime chatfest The Talk, USA Today reports.

During her chat with Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini and Julie Chen, Glanville said she thought she had “a great marriage” to Cibrian, 38. “My marriage – in my head – was not in trouble,” she said.

That’s why she was so caught off-guard by Us Weekly’s report that Cibrian and Rimes, 28, had an affair shooting a Lifetime flick last year.

She said it’s been tough adjusting, especially now that her two boys are living with Rimes and Cibrian.

“I’m used to having my kids all the time,” she said. “Now I have them part-time. I don’t have a nanny. I don’t have help. When they’re gone, I’m alone.”

What’s worse, she added, “all my friends are married.”

So she is usually left nursing wine alone. She said what used to be “one to two” glasses “is now three to four.”

But Glanville, who was recently arrested for DUI, insisted, “I don’t think I have a drinking problem. I think I had a problem the other night when I made a bad choice to drive.”

I don’t get that complaint/statement: “all my friends are married.” So… none of her friends have time to hear her complain about Eddie because they’re married? Or was that the excuse her friends used as a way to cut her off? Is Brandi upset that she doesn’t “fit in” with the gang anymore? Is this middle school? Ugh.

As several commenters have already pointed out, Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife Brandi Glanville was arrested for suspicion of DUI last night/this morning in Beverly Hills. According to both TMZ and Radar, Brandi is still being held, and her bail is set at $5000. Here’s my guess: Brandi was reading the news about LeAnn Rimes and the Shape Magazine editor, and she was so thrilled that she called a few girlfriends to go out celebrating. The celebrations involved tequila and male strippers (in my mind).

Brandi Glanville, ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian, was busted for DUI early this morning … TMZ has learned.

Glanville was arrested at 12:05 AM by Beverly Hills PD. She was pulled over on Sunset Blvd. for an unknown traffic violation. According to law enforcement sources, officers detected the odor of alcohol and Glanville was given a field sobriety test. She was then arrested for suspicion of DUI.

She’s currently in custody and being held on $5,000 bail.

Honestly, I know I just made a joke about it, but this kind of thing pisses me off. Brandi is a mother, and she’s old enough to know better. If you’re that small a woman, and have more than two drinks, for f-ck’s sake, just call a cab for your drunk ass.

Also: Isn’t LeAnn Rimes’ home in Beverly Hills? Was Brandi’s drunk ass driving over to Eddie and LeAnn’s house to tell them off? Or was she driving over for a booty call with Eddie? I consulted LeAnn’s Twitter, and she’s making some vague remarks, nothing solidly about Brandi. Yet. We’ll see.

UPDATE: Oh, another hit for Team Glanville! Shape Magazine’s editor is backtracking AGAIN. She says: “I stand by the fact that LeAnn’s story is compelling–and her courage and strength in the face of so much adversity is compelling. That is why I put her on the cover of Shape for what is now the third time. The fact is a mere 40 readers out of almost 6 million readers wrote in to complain calling LeAnn a ‘husband stealer’ and a ‘terrible mistake for Shape’…I wrote to those women apologizing that our cover choice did not make them happy–as I have done for other cover stars in the past.” LeAnn is having a good day!

One last thing: Brandi needs to stop with the Botox. She looks like a wax figure.

In an episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey, Joe, Teresa’s gangster husband, tried to explain his DUI by claiming he ran his SUV into a pole, went to his friend’s house nearby, called the cops and did a ton of shots while they were waiting for the police to get there. It was a ridiculous explanation for why he was drunk at the scene of an accident, and Teresa, Jacqueline and Jacqueline’s husband accepted it at the time without questioning him.

When Joe was arrested for DUI, he was even turned over to a nearby police department which had other warrants out for his arrest. Joe’s license was suspended for a year after that incident, but he still thought he could drive anyway (just like Paris Hilton) and now he’s been sentenced to ten days in jail. Can’t say I feel sorry for him.

A judge sentenced Joe to ten days in prison and Joe is expected to begin his sentence next week. According to the document obtained by RadarOnline.com exclusively, he was also fined $1,000 and his license is suspended for at least another year. Oddly, the court action document does not list Giudice’s name. Sources tell RadarOnline.com that the reason for the jail time is because Joe drove with a suspended license.

In January, he was charged with driving under the influence after crashing his car into a telephone pole in Montville Township, New Jersey. He was taken to the hospital and then released to the police due to outstanding warrants. In March, he was fined $864, had his license revoked for 12 months, and was sentenced to 30 days of community service.

Joe might not be the only one going to jail. Teresa and Joe have been accused of fraud for trying to hide over a quarter million in earnings when they filed for bankruptcy protection from creditors earlier this year. Teresa is said to be so afraid of prison that she wants to drop off the show to ensure she doesn’t incriminate herself. We’ve already heard that Teresa might be leaving due to feuds with producers and the fact that her nemesis sister-in-law might earn a spot next season. Somehow she’s scored two In Touch covers this month, though. Either In Touch is sadly desperate for an exclusive or Bravo is getting some paid promotion. Either way, this woman is earning a ton of publicity for her bad behavior and she’s owning up to none of it. Just like her husband.

George Michael is the latest celebrity addict to mess up multiple chances, screw up numerous times, and ultimately be sentenced to jail. Michael was sentenced to eight weeks in jail yesterday for a July incident in which he rammed his car into a photo store in London in the wee hours of the morning. He’ll only serve a month of that sentence and will spend the second half on parole. It was his seventh driving offense, and there’s a recap of some of the crazy sh*t he’s done in this earlier story if you’d like a refresher. Given all the times he’s driven under the influence, it was just a matter of time before he faced some harsher consequences, although it certainly took long enough. At least he’s serving time jail before he seriously harms himself or someone else. He’ll also have his license revoked for five years.

George Michael was sentenced to eight weeks in jail and lost his license for five years Tuesday for driving under the influence of drugs when he crashed his car into a London photo shop.

A British judge told the wayward star his addiction to marijuana put him and the public at risk.

The former Wham! singer pleaded guilty last month to driving under the influence and possession of cannabis following a July 4 collision between his Range Rover and a Snappy Snaps store in north London.

District Judge John Perkins told the singer he had taken a “dangerous and unpredictable mix” of prescription drugs and marijuana.

“It does not appear that you took proper steps to deal with what is clearly an addiction to cannabis,” the judge said. “That’s a mistake which puts you and, on this occasion, the public at risk.”

Perkins sentenced Michael to the prison time and a 1,250 pound ($1,930) fine during a hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.

The judge said Michael would have to serve four weeks of the sentence in prison and the rest on parole.

Michael arrived at court in a chauffeur-driven car, surrounded by four security guards and greeted by a large crowd of fans and photographers. He left with court guards who led him from the courtroom toward the cells, as one person in the public gallery sobbed.

According to police, Michael appeared “spaced out” when they found him sitting in the car, whose engine was still running, in the wee hours of July 4. He acknowledged smoking marijuana and taking a prescription sedative, prosecutors said.

It was the latest in a string of automotive and drug-related mishaps for the 47-year-old star, who has often spoken of his fondness for marijuana.

Is Michael going to change? I doubt it, but at least he’s not going to be allowed drive anymore. In an interview published in the The Guardian in December of last year, Michael smoked joints in front of the reporter, laughed while recounting stories of Elton John and Bono trying to get him to go to rehab, and admitted that he trolls public parks for anonymous sex when the weather permits. Maybe he won’t hate it in jail.
