It was the bromance that launched a thousand blind items, and now it’s over! US Weekly is reporting that Chace Crawford has packed his bags and moved out of the apartment he shared with Gossip Girl costar Ed Westwick. The blind items were always about the gay rumors, but doesn’t that seem a little too obvious? If they were really in the closet, do you think they would have moved in together and stayed bromantic roommates since 2007? No, it’s much more likely that Ed and Chace are just two heterosexual guys who tricked out their bachelor pad to be like a Manhattan mini-Playboy Mansion. But alas, they outgrew each other. US Weekly claims that their living arrangements were hampered by Westwick’s messiness:

Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford has moved out of the NYC apartment he shares with costar Ed Westwick, a source tells Usmagazine.com exclusively.

The two have shared the apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood since they both first moved to the city after being cast in the hit CW series.

The source says Crawford — who will star in the upcoming reboot of Footloose — moved out on Monday and into a rented penthouse apartment in the luxe Dwell 95 building in NYC’s Financial District.

The reason for Crawford’s change of scenery? Apparently, Westwick is a slob, and Crawford couldn’t take the mess any longer, a source tells Us.

Most likely the “slob” defense was only part of the reason – they were probably just a little sick of each other, and sick of the gay rumors. Years ago, I made the mistake of moving in with my best friend, and she was such a bad roommate, it kind of destroyed our friendship. She was really messy, yes, but it had more to do with her being a total slut who was only attracted to guys that I was interested in. She just did it to piss me off – she was so passive-aggressive like that. I totally bet Ed Westwick is like that.

“Gossip Girl’s” Ed Westwick’s hard-partying lifestyle is starting to catch up with him. Not in the traditional Hollywood sense of shipping himself off to rehab (yet), but in an equally detrimental way – at least for an actor. Ed is a fan of the drink – but not of moderation. As a result, he’s put on some chunk, and people are starting to notice. And talk. In fact, the costume department at “Gossip Girl” is getting downright annoyed with having to purchase a new wardrobe to compensate for the new junk in Ed’s trunk.

At the Gossip Girl wrap party at New York’s Bowery Hotel, Ed Westwick turned heads — but for all the wrong reasons.

“He looked totally unkempt, like he hadn’t showered in days,” says a guest at the March 28 event. “All he did the entire time was play beer pong with Heineken. He was drinking a lot.”

That’s nothing new for Ed, who has treated New York like his personal playground ever since being cast as Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl in 2007. But in the hit show’s second season, Ed, 21, has put on an estimated 10 pounds, and his partying is starting to hurt his appearance.

“Ed has been gaining a lot of weight — not just around the waist, but throughout his whole body,” says an on-set source. “First, the costume department had to buy him new, bigger pants. Then, his shirts and jackets got way too snug. The costumers even requested that producers talk to Ed — they don’t want Chuck to be fat!”

Ed has gotten flack from his castmates, too. “They filmed an episode with a pool scene,” another set insider reveals. “Ed was completely not in shape, and people were making fun of him.”

I have to wonder if Ed’s castmates were making fun of him to his face. That’d be pretty mean spirited. On the one hand I feel badly for him – gaining weight is always embarrassing. On the other hand, if this were a female celebrity, every single tabloid would be up in arms and pasting unflattering pictures all over their covers. In Ed’s case, it’s a short little blurb in one of the less-successful weeklies. Worse things have happened.

This is only how it works for me, but I find it a hell of a lot easier to lay off the booze than the cheeseburgers. Nixing alcohol is always my first course of action. Ed might want to try toning it down on one or the other. Because guy or not, in another 30 lbs he’ll be on the cover of Us Weekly.

Drew Barrymore caused quite the stir last night. Over the last week or so she’s been seen with Gossip Girl star Chase Crawford a few times, including leaving the Saturday Night Live after-party. There was a little speculation that they were dating, but it was apparently a cover, since it appears that Barrymore is actually with Crawford’s costar Ed Westwick. Either that or she and Chase have a pretty open arrangement, because Drew and Ed were caught seriously making out at the Kings of Leon performance at Webster Hall in New York City last night.

OMFG. Last night at Webster Hall, the main event proved not to be the performance by Kings of Leon but the intense makeout sesh we witnessed between Drew Barrymore and Ed Westwick, a.k.a. Chuck Bass. We’d seen the pictures of Chace Crawford and Barrymore leaving the Saturday Night Live after-party the other night, but we never imagined it was a ruse to cover up her steamy affair with Chuck Bass.

Following last night’s show, Westwick, wearing leather pants and pointed shoes, accompanied Barrymore to the after-party at Bowery Electric where the pair continued their PDA. Barrymore even straddled Bass — um, we mean Westwick — in a move not dissimilar to that time Serena did it with Nate on the bar. To be honest, the whole thing kind of hurt our eyes a bit, not least because at 33, Drew is definitely the Catharine to 21-year-old Westwick’s Marcus. Needless to say, he could barely conceal his smug satisfaction all night — and left wearing the same half-smile Chuck did after he bagged Blair that fateful night in season one.

Drew seems to be a pretty accepting, “live and let live” sort, so I could see her going for whoever she was into, regardless of age. But a Gossip Girl actor, really? Isn’t he loved by tween girls? The only thing I really knew about Ed Westwick before all this was that there were a lot of gay rumors floating around about him and Crawford. The two are roomies, after all. At their ages and income levels – and with those eyebrows – that’s going to raise a few… well eyebrows.

But apparently Drew and Ed are pretty damn into each other. Either that or she’s going out of her way to show the world that she doesn’t care about recent ex-boyfriend Justin Long hooking up with Kirsten Dunst. Either way, she definitely succeeded.
