Emily Blunt in frothy pink Elie Saab: adorable or unbelievably tragic?

adjustment_bureau_011_wenn5608926

Last night was the big New York premiere of The Adjustment Bureau, which I personally think looks like a bad movie. I realize that Matt Damon loonies (like CB) will probably want to see it, and maybe moms will want to see (my mother called me when she first saw the ads and asked if I would take her). But I just think the film looks like it has a really asinine plot, and I don’t even like the idea of Matt and Emily Blunt as each other’s love interests. They just don’t seem like they would fit together, at all. It’s too brother-sister. Anyway, for the premiere, Emily wore this frothy pink Elie Saab number that I absolutely hate. The color is wrong for her, and Emily shouldn’t do frothy, frilly stuff. It looks like something Taylor Swift would wear. And then there’s the little matter of whatever the hell is happening to Emily’s face:

Matt looked good, though. And Lucy came too! Lucy looked so much better than Emily.

adjustment_bureau_007_wenn5608922

If I do go to see this movie, it will only be for the delicious man-meat of Damon, Anthony Mackie (this boy, my goodness) and John Slattery (with his son, I think). There are other hot guys in the cast too, but I’m only choosing to recognize John and Anthony:

How Photoshopped is Matt Damon on the cover of Men’s (and Women’s) Health?

menshealth
Matt Damon and Emily Blunt make joint appearances on the cover of Men and Women’s Health’s March issues to promote their upcoming film The Adjustment Bureau, out March 4. Matt was much thinner when he made that movie, as it was before he put on some sympathy pounds during his wife’s last pregnancy. (Or maybe he was gaining weight for his role in We Bought a Zoo.) Still, these covers seem so false to me, particularly Men’s Health, which Photoshopped him even thinner than Women’s Health. The dude has put on at least 20 pounds since these photos were taken and he’s hot either way (I would hit that like a house on fire) but he just doesn’t look like this anymore. I don’t think he even looked like that back then.

Anyway Matt and Emily talked about their rapport on set, and it sounds like they got along very well and were fast friends. Matt also made some choice comments comparing star vehicle movies to watching people masturbate. I just love him.

womenshealth

Matt on Emily’s acting abilities: “There are a lot of great actresses her age right now, but Emily is just f—king unbelievable.”

Emily on having fun with Matt: “I met Matt and he was lovely and very funny, and instantly, I thought, ‘Oh, we could be like teenage boys together. Just be weird and stupid and silly.’” Emily on getting in shape to play a ballet dancer: “I looked like an aerobics teacher. My shoulders puffed out, my back looked like there was a barrel of snakes in it and I had an eight-pack!”

Matt on movies that are just star vehicles: “That’s like watching someone jerk off, really. It’s just absolutely not at all interesting, and not something I want to spend any time doing.”

[From Men's Health via Popsugar]

I just re-watched the trailer for The Adjustment Bureau (below) and this movie looks so damn good! Damon is such a great actor and it comes through in everything he does. Blunt holds her own too. I can’t wait to see it.

I need to just point something out though – the Bourne movies became a star vehicle for Matt Damon, even if the first one wasn’t written for him specifically. It doesn’t matter though because there are plenty of us who would love to spend a couple of hours watching him jerk off.

Here are promotional photos of Matt and Emily in The Adjustment Bureau. I guess he was that thin. via Allmoviephoto.

Emily Blunt lightens her hair to a blondish red: better or worse?

fp_6656658_barm_gnomeojuliet_premiere_11_12

Emily Blunt was not with her husband John Krasinski last night at the SAGs. She was in London, promoting this odd-looking animated film, Gnomeo and Juliet. I think James McAvoy does the voice of Gnomeo? Anyway, for the event, Emily showed off her new hair – dramatically lightened to this reddish color with blonde highlights. I’ll admit, I like Emily a lot, and I like her as one of my brunettes. I don’t know what to think of her as a redhead. It doesn’t really look bad, per se, but it’s just a change that I’m not fond of.

As for the dress and the tights… train wreck. The dress is especially cheap-looking, and I don’t believe in black tights with a white dress. I’m from the South. We don’t do that.

Emily Blunt’s Roksanda dress: terrible or cute?

gullivers_travels_011_wenn5587686

Now, I love Emily Blunt. I think she’s so, so talented and very beautiful. But the girl gets it wrong quite often on the red carpet. Yesterday was the big premiere for Gulliver’s Travels, starring Emily and Jack Black, amongst others. Emily wore this Roksanda dress… ugh. First of all, I’m not sure if it’s really a dress. It looks like Emily just walked away from a tropical holiday and somehow wandered onto this red carpet in a simple pencil skirt and a too-bright summer holiday tank. I realize that the Spring lines are out and all of these celebrities want to wear the latest looks, but this is completely inappropriate for the week before Christmas. Plus, the top just isn’t a good color. And Emily looks kind of drunk.

Emily also recently broke my heart just a little bit when she shot down the idea of little Blunt-Krasinskis running around any time soon. She said in an interview, “I come from a big family and I’ve always wanted children, but not quite yet. Yes, mum gave up her career, but it’s a different age now. I’m lucky in that, hopefully, I will have established myself more than my mum was able to before she had children. I think it will be easier for me. But, honestly, I don’t know what I’m going to feel until it happens.” Well… at least she’s honest. I appreciate that. She’s not all “I want babies right now” to placate the people getting all up in her womb.

Don’t even ask me about Jack Black… is this movie going to suck? It looks like it.

Emily Blunt models blue Tom Ford for Bazaar UK: amazing or meh?

blunt1

These are photos from the January cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar UK, with cover girl Emily Blunt. The photos are amazing – Blunt is an interesting model, and the clothes… well, they’re fantastic. This blue dress is Tom Ford – from his new womenswear collection, his first in years. They profiled Ford and the collection in this Bazaar issue, just as American Vogue did in their December issue – seriously, Ford’s new collection is GORGEOUS. It’s glamorous and high-fashion and yet… you could see so many women wearing this stuff. I love Tom Ford. Anyway, here are some excerpts from Emily’s interview:

blunt2

Fans of The Devil Wears Prada love to hate Emily Blunt‘s neurotic, die-for-fashion character; but in real life, the self-deprecating star is far from high-strung when it comes to her personal style.

“I never have any idea [about what I’m wearing],” she confesses to Harper’s Bazaar UK. “I’ll look at several things and make a choice. But I’m much more excited by fashion than I was before The Devil Wears Prada.”

In fact, working with stylist and designer Patricia Field on that movie changed her perception: “I could finally see how artistic and an extension of someone’s personality fashion can be.”

Emily graces the magazine’s January issue, resplendent in a blue fringed Tom Ford dress, among a host of 70s glamour-inspired outfits by Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. No one would ever guess from the gorgeous multi-page spread that looking good didn’t always come naturally for the English beauty.

“I used to look like a deer in headlights on the red carpet,” the straight-talking actress admits. “You step out of the car and it’s bedlam. Everyone’s got crazy eyes. Now, I have a martini before I leave – just to take the edge off it.”

With two huge movies (Gulliver’s Travels and The Adjustment Bureau) to promote, we’re sure the newlywed will look radiant on the red carpet.

[From People]

Yeah, what kills me about Emily Blunt is that she could be the next Fashion Girl on every red carpet – she’s beautiful, her body is amazing, she’s very, very talented, so she works all the time and has a million red carpets to walk – why not really put the effort into being a fashion girl? Granted, she probably has better stuff to do with her time. But it’s a shame. The void left by someone like Blunt on the red carpet is filled with vapid no-talent fashion girls like Jessica Alba.

Emily Blunt talks stuttering, styling and dieting in Elle UK

emilycover

I really, really love Emily Blunt. I think she’s a terrific actress, a great interview, and I think she’s funny as hell. But why is it that magazines never know how to style her? She’s not that difficult! She’s pale, with dark hair. Style her like Demi Moore, and you’ll be fine. Instead, the September issue of Elle UK features Emily either looking completely washed out in pales pastels, or looking like a trashy goth princess in black lace overload. UGH. Anyway, HuffPo has some highlights from the interview:

On her new film ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ with Matt Damon:
Probably her most high-profile role to date, Blunt plays a dancer opposite Matt Damon. ‘I had to learn to do ballet for the role, which was terrifying – you can’t really get away with half-assing it,’ she says. ‘There’s something very exposing about dancing in front of people. It’s like asking someone to look you in the eye and sing without any sense of irony. It’s that embarrassing. She takes a long, indulgent drag of her (‘dangerously delicious’) Dr Funk. ‘This is my weekend of revenge on the diet I’ve had to be on for the re-shoots,’ she says. ‘Last night I had steamed pork buns that made me want to weep. I feel like I’m just emerging from a food coma.’ Damon, she adds, derived immense glee from not being the one having to do all of the rigorous bodywork for a film. ‘After Bourne and Invictus, he was like, “Just for once, I don’t have to go to the gym, so I’m going to eat burgers in front of you and you’re going to have to deal with it.’”

On her childhood stutter:
Growing up in the smart London suburb of Roehampton (her father an accomplished barrister; her mother a former actress), Blunt developed a stutter at the age of seven, which was ‘awful, absolutely awful’, she remembers. ‘You feel like there’s an imposter living inside of you who is misrepresenting who you really are. You don’t want to be accepted for being that person but at the same time you do, and you don’t want people to finish your sentences, yet you breathe a sigh of relief when someone does.’ She overcame it after a teacher suggested she try speaking in different accents for a drama class (‘I spoke fluidly for the first time in my life in some northern English accent, probably the hokiest you’ve ever heard’) – though she says she still gets caught out occasionally when making phone calls. ‘It’s very common for stutterers to not be able to say their own name, and when someone asks who’s calling, I’ll be like, “F***!”‘

On her wedding to “The Office” star John Krasinski:
She insists, however, that she did not spend the time planning her wedding to Krasinski, though the rumour mill maintains there will be confetti flying within the next few weeks. ‘Ha!’ she snorts at the question. ‘It’s not my style to be much of a planner, so I don’t even know really when it’s happening. I’m sure it’s going to be small, easy-going and last minute.’ She flashes a grin as bright as the platinum-and-gigantic-diamond ring on her left hand. ‘But you’ll see… soon!’

On airbrushing and dressing for the red carpet:
Blunt, it seems, does strive to keep it real. She’s not keen on too much airbrushing (‘I don’t like it when they stretch you out and make you all long and skinny. It makes you look like a Barbie. Who the hell looks like that?’) and though she likes fashion, remains somewhat wary. ‘I think I tend to dress quite hard. I’m definitely not a frilly girl and I don’t wear dresses that much,’ she says. She does employ a stylist, but insists that she makes the final decision: ‘When it’s a red carpet thing, I think it’s good to just go for it. Who cares if someone hates it? If I love something – if I think it’s edgy and cool – I don’t care what anyone else thinks.’

[From HuffPo]

Okay, I actually feel for her on the stuttering thing – I had to have some speech therapy when I was a kid for my faint lisp (lithp). But I’m finding it hilarious how she describes talking on the phone. Can you imagine asking, “Who’s calling please?” And just hearing a string of stuttering curse words, and you’re like, “Oh, hi Emily!” As far the wedding, that already took place, and it seemed really lovely. I think George Clooney was the wedding planner, honestly, because he seemed to be the one in charge of tents, food and boats as they had their ceremony at Lake Como, Italy. Lovely!

John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher all get hitched

wenn2736626

What was it about July 10 that made everyone want to get married? Strange. Anyway, yesterday, Saturday, two somewhat prominent celebrity couples got hitched. First, we have American Office star John Krasinski and English crumpet Emily Blunt marrying in a private ceremony in Italy. Their reps confirmed to People that the wedding took place, but Us Weekly actually has some of the wedding porn details (Clooney was there!):

That’s amore! Emily Blunt and John Krasinski wed at the Villa D’este in Como, Italy, UsMagazine.com has confirmed.

“John and Emily were married on Saturday in a private ceremony,” Krasinski’s rep tells Us.

“It was an outdoor ceremony and absolutely beautiful,” says an insider. George Clooney and Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis were in attendance; Blunt and Krasinski had been staying at Clooney’s nearby Lake Como estate since the July 4th weekend.

“It was an official ceremony. They are husband and wife,” adds the source.

After about a year of dating, The Office star Krasinski, 30, proposed to British actress Blunt, 27, with a 3-carat Edwardian diamond and platinum ring from Neil Lane, worth $100,000.

Krasinski told Access Hollywood that the proposal was “very casual” but very emotional, too. “She did cry after I cried, and we cried and then everyone around us was crying,” he said.

“She’s a wonderful girl,” Krasinski gushed at last year’s Emmys of his fiancee.

“So many people say, ‘You know when you know,’ and it’s true,” Krasinski added of his love. “It’s all true.”

Reps could not be reached for comment.

[From Us Weekly]

Oooh, I wonder if they actually got married at George Clooney’s Lake Como villa? That must have been beautiful. Do you think Elisabetta Canalis was like “George when are we going to get married?” If she did, she’ll be out the door soon enough.

Next, we have country singer Carrie Underwood and her hockey player Mike Fisher. They were married in Atlanta, Georgia, apparently, and it was a more traditional affair then Clooney’s Den of Sin and European Sex.

Carrie Underwood is a married woman! The American Idol winner, 27, wed her hockey player beau Mike Fisher Saturday night near Atlanta, Ga., UsMagazine.com has confirmed.

The two walked down the aisle in front of more than 200 guests at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga., in a ceremony estimated to cost more than $500,000, according to RadarOnline.com. Underwood and Fisher, who plays for the Ottawa Senators, said their vows under a lakeside tent.

After a year of dating, Fisher, 30, popped the question last December with a 12-carat ring worth about $800,000. “We’re both obviously excited and very happy,” Fisher said at the time. Underwood hired a wedding planner, but also ironed out many of the details herself.

“I bought a lot of magazines and am cutting out pictures,” she told Us in January. “I have a folder and I cut out pictures and glue them in. It’s in kind of a binder thing.”

Fisher was tasked with coordinating the honeymoon. “[Planning] that was Mike’s project,” she said at the CMA Fest last month.

“It’s a surprise. I have no clue where we are going, which is nice. I know it will be warm, that’s about it.”

The Grammy winner said she wasn’t worrying too much about slimming down before her wedding.

“I’m not a big stresser — Mike would love me if I weighed 800 pounds,” she told reporters after taking the entertainer of the year award for the second straight year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April.

Underwood first met Fisher backstage after an October 2008 concert in Toronto. “I made sure he came in with some other people,” she told Cosmopolitan. “I was like, ‘What if he’s weird?’”

They made their first public appearance as a couple in January 2010 at an event in Quebec. After nabbing Video of the Year at the CMT Awards last month, Underwood gushed to Us, “No matter what happens, I go home a winner. I have the biggest prize, the guy sitting next to me. Win or lose, he is proud of me. Of course, it’s nice to share the good times too!”

[From Us Weekly]

Congratulations to both couples, I’m sure they will be very happy. Does anyone want to place any bets on pregnancies, divorces, etc? My bet is that Carrie will get knocked up before Emily Blunt, but that Emily and John’s marriage will last longer. But you never can tell with those British girls, really. Emily seems very down-to-earth, and there have already been rumors that she’s pregnant. Honeymoon babies for both?

Emily Blunt tells airbrushers not to make her thinner

blunt2

I know some of you don’t really give a crap about Emily Blunt, but I like her and I think she’s one of most talented young actresses out there. Even though she didn’t end up getting an Oscar nomination for her lead role in The Young Victoria (in which she played the young Queen Victoria, obviously), Blunt’s career is still going full steam ahead. Next up for her is Wolfman, where she plays the girlfriend (I think) of Benicio del Toro’s wolf-y character. Blunt was profiled in the LA Times Magazine (these are those photos) this week, and she professes that she tells “the airbrusher” not to make her any thinner for photo shoots:

Gossip reporters are often complaining that there are disappointingly few paparazzi shots of you doing anything naughty. Is there an art to staying off the tabloid radar?
People are like, “We want to see her fall on her face not wearing underwear.” That sounds just awful. They can clamor for those pictures, but I am determined not to reveal any of that. I did manage to smash the front of my Prius the other day. I hit a curb.

Did the paps nail you?
I don’t think so. But they are sneaky. They will get you when you least want to be gotten.

During shooting for The Devil Wears Prada, you had a habit of showing up on set whether you had a call time on that day or not. Is directing in your future?
It was my first really big feature. To see things move like a well-oiled machine is so interesting. But I was lonely as well. I knew no one [in the area] apart from people on the set—and it was a riot. I was in heaven every day working on that movie.

I found a headline from that year. I’ll read it, and you give me your reaction: “Devil Wears Prada Forced Emily Blunt to Emaciate Herself.” Yeah, that’s another story I thought got blown out of proportion. With Hollywood, you say one thing, and that’s what can happen. I was definitely encouraged to lose weight—not because I was overweight but because I was playing a character who was edge-of-ill thin. She literally doesn’t eat. I couldn’t turn up with love handles, but it wasn’t like doughnuts were snatched out of my hand.

You admire the Denches and Mirrens, of course, but you really desire to be like Cate Blanchett. Why?
Well, I want to do my own thing and not emulate anyone else, but I am fully admiring of what Cate has done. She is so compelling to watch, so chameleon-like, that she is able to lose herself in any part. And there is no vanity—not a shred of self- consciousness. There are people out there who make really brave choices. That’s why I singled out Cate. That’s also why I like Benicio Del Toro and the choices he has made.

Is he the main reason you signed on for The Wolfman?
Yeah, Benicio and Anthony Hopkins. Those two guys are top of my list—favorite actors, favorite performances. When I heard they were both doing it, it was a double-whammy of intrigue. I knew it was a commercial script, and I knew exactly what I was getting into. I actually liked the script. Sometimes it’s not only about the story, the character, the director. It is often about who I am working with. You really are only as good as your costars.

I heard you once instructed a photographer not to airbrush you—that can’t be right, can it?
I told him not to make me thinner. I hate when your legs are three times the length they actually are. I heard they could raise your nipples if you have a slightly see-through top, lift your bum—they can do everything. I can understand there are things like shadows they need to fix after a shoot, but it’s unfair to represent an image of yourself if it’s not true. They’re gonna see what you look like on film anyway, so why try to cover all your wobbly bits in a photo?

[From The Los Angeles Times]

She comes across as very down-to earth, doesn’t she? Also, she has that sort of stereotypical (but still charming) English sensibility of “I don’t take myself too seriously, and neither should you.” I love what she says about her “wobbly bits” although I think she has a very healthy, lean figure. Sure, she’s slender, but she looks like a girl who eats and drinks beer and will fight you for the last onion ring. Which is nice!

Wolfman premiere pics: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski & Benicio del Toro

wolfman_premiere_01_wenn2736740

Last night, Wolfman premiered in Los Angeles and all of the major cast members showed up for the red carpet. These aren’t our usual suspects (get it?) for gossip, but I liked the photos from the premiere, so let’s talk about it! Emily Blunt brought her fiancée John Krasinski, who looked just like my mom imagines what her son-in-law will look like. Anthony Hopkins (above) might be the winner of Hollywood’s Grand Beard Experiment, and he’s killing me with that cravat. Oh, and I would still nail Benicio del Toro to the wall. Yum.

Here’s Emily Blunt’s simple, lovely dress. I don’t really have a feel for Emily’s style yet. From what I’ve seen, she can be very hit-or-miss on the red carpet, and she usually gets at least one thing wrong (between hair, makeup and dress). But I really like this overall look:

fp_4509741_rev_wolfman_020910

John Krasinski is such a cutie. Is it just me or are his ears getting bigger? The ears give him this air of goofiness that I just love. He’s like a young Jimmy Stewart.

fp_4509746_rev_wolfman_020910

Benicio del Toro. I know, I know, I questioned whether he still had the hotness. When he smiles, you can still see it. Jesus, this man does it for me. I get that many of you think I have weird taste in men and everything, but seriously, how could you not want to do dirty things with this man?

fp_4509747_rev_wolfman_020910

Lastly, here’s Hugo Weaving, better known as that dude from The Matrix. At first I thought it was Sting. The beard works for him and I’ve never really noticed that he’s a pretty good-looking dude. Well done, Hugo.

Michael Buble is “a cheater and a rat” who can’t commit, claims ex

wenn5380086
Speaking as someone who is actually a fan of Michael Buble, I can’t say this report in Star Magazine came as a galloping shock to me. While Michael has a voice as smooth as silk, from what I’ve read about him previously, he has a reputation as a skeeze, a womanizer, and a guy who can’t commit. But still, that voice! And when he’s on a stage, or talking to Oprah or something, he comes off as very charming, very self-deprecating, very boy-next-door.

The story of how and why Michael and actress Emily Blunt broke off their relationship/engagement has been going around for a while. And most of the rumors came from the same person, a girl named Tiffany Bromley, who continues to claim that she and Michael were sleeping together while he and Emily were together. She began telling her story back in 2007- with some incriminating photo evidence. Now Star is revisiting her story – I can’t tell if she gave Star a new interview, or if the tabloid is simply regurgitating old 2007 reports, but here you go:

Michael Buble claims he’s found the real deal with South American superstar Luisana Lopilato but his ex has a warning for the Argentine actress. “He’s a cheater and a rat,” says Tiffany Bromley. “He once told me, ‘I can’t commit to one person.”

Tiffany says Michael, 34, regularly went back to her during his three-year relationship with Emily Blunt, even when Michael and Emily were planning to marry. A few months into his romance with Emily, Michael called Tiffany one night and invited her to his room at Le Parc Suite Hotel in West Hollywood.

“Before I knew it, Michael started kissing me passionately and undressing me,” she says. “He said he didn’t want to go all the way because he never cheated on Emily – but we did.”

Six months after that, while both Michael and Tiffany were in Canada, he called her at 4 a.m. saying, “I want to see you.” She went straight to the Vancouver apartment he shared with Emily… and Michael greeted her at the door in his briefs.

“On a scale of 1 to 10, he was an 11 that night… The only thing that bothered me was, right before we got into bed, Michael said ‘Let’s take some naked pictures. It will be fun.’ Then, he asked me if I’d like to take part in a threesome – me, him, and another woman. I told him, ‘No way!’ He said, ‘Don’t knock it till you tried it. You don’t know what you’re missing.’”

[From Star Magazine, print edition, November 16 2009]

The story goes on and on. Tiffany and Michael had sex a bunch of times, she took the infamous photos of Michael sleeping naked, and that was the last she saw of him. Although, they did fight over the phone about him “coming clean” to Emily Blunt. Emily and Michael later split up, and now she’s engaged to John Krasinski.

The point of the story seems to be that Tiffany doesn’t think Michael will be able to commit to Luisana. Tiffany says: “Michael was never going to marry Emily. He was just leading her on. And I don’t see him settling down now anytime soon, if ever. That’s just Michael. He’s just not that kind of person. He’s too married to his career.”

Personally, I don’t see Michael getting really serious with any girl for a little while either, but I don’t think the guy should be strung up just because of that. His career is booming. Let him do his thing. Here’s Michael’s new video, “Haven’t Met You Yet”:
