Shania Twain has issued a letter on her website expressing her joy at becoming engaged to her ex husband’s mistress’ ex husband, as Kaiser so aptly put it. Some of you speculated in the comments that Shania potentially cheated on her husband first by hooking up with her now-fiance, who was a family friend. I followed this story closely when it came out, and am convinced that Shania’s husband, “Mutt” Lange, cheated on her with his secretary/estate manager, after which Shania and the secretary’s husband found solace in each other. In fact the National Enquirer tracked Lange down in Switzerland two years ago to get a comment on his wife’s new romance with his girlfriend’s ex husband, and he seemed genuinely surprised that those two had hooked up. (He also kind of gave Shania his blessing, the bastard.) Anyway, here’s what Shania wrote. It’s flowery and over the top, but she really seems like she’s an emotional person like that. I remember how she cried on American Idol when Big Mike sang “It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing.”

I’ve spent much time over the course of this past year, learning about others who have suffered loss in their lives and taken inspiration from how they’ve managed to overcome it. I’m learning that grief and the suffering of loss, challenges me to be more sensitive and understanding of other’s and also more accepting of my own struggles. Challenge reminds me how important it is to let those who love me, care for me when I need it. The support of others has helped me to move forward less fearful of change, allowing me to embrace the beauty of life today and remain more open to whatever it brings tomorrow.

The people who make my life the most joyful are the ones I am able to lean on because of my own humanness. In the last two and a half years of adjusting to life after separation and divorce, I needed to lean on others more often than I was accustomed to. These people have been gifts, and I am fortunate to have so many of these beautiful people – friends, family and beloved fans, who’s support I cherish more deeply with each day that passes. Now another year is about to pass, and I would like to thank everyone who helped me believe that new beginnings are possible and that love can be trusted. Thank you!

2010 is leaving me with a renewed faith in love and commitment. I believe in the right to be loved and the blessing of being able to love in return. Talking about love, I am excited to share some personal news with you; I’m in love! Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship. So, do you think that Shania and this Fred guy just started hanging out as a big F U to their exes? There were quite a few staged paparazzi pics of them at the time that suggested that they were getting a huge kick out of it.

Also, as Kaiser reported Shania’s engagement is on the cover of the new US Weekly this week. I tend to think that Shania announced it to coincide with her new reality show, which premieres on the Oprah Network in January. I also think she’s pretty triumphant after all she went through, and I don’t blame her. It seemed clear to me that she gave People Magazine the details of her husband’s infidelity back in 2008 and now she’s all “I’m engaged, bitches.” I love how she stayed out of the spotlight for so long and then kind of edged back at a difficult and critical time in her life. She’s a survivor.

All you gals out there who have been waiting 15 or more years for your tomcatting boyfriend to propose, take heart. All the incentive he needs to walk down the aisle is a brush with death and a popular reality show to propose on.

King tomcatter Bret Michaels proposed to his girlfriend and mother of his children, Kristi Gibson, on Monday’s episode of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

Bret has had one heck of a year. He had several medical emergencies, yet still went on tour, was implicated in the breakup of Billy Ray Cyrus’s marriage and won The Celebrity Apprentice. Now he’s ready to get married, eventually.

The rocker had been thinking about proposing but couldn’t seem to find the right moment. It seemed like everyone was geared up for it to happen at the anniversary dinner the night before at Mastro’s, but Michaels, 47, felt like there were too many waiters and other patrons milling around.

“I wasn’t ready there because I felt really strange,” he says. “It would’ve been like, I’m in the middle of proposing and oh, by the way, there’s a Cobb salad coming.”

The real moment, filmed a couple weeks ago, came spontaneously instead, in the middle of a heart-to-heart with Gibson on the balcony of their Arizona home, says Michaels.

“In my mind, it wasn’t supposed to happen like that – I wanted it to be a little more like the movies, where the white horse gallops up and all that stuff,” he says. “But when Kristi said, ‘I don’t need this ring, I don’t need the piece of paper, I love you no matter what,’ she took the pressure off.”

“She used reverse psychology on me,” Michaels says, “and it worked!”

“After that, I was so in the moment, I didn’t feel like there was anyone around us,” says Michaels, who laughs at how their daughters Jorja, 5, and Raine, 10, responded when they heard the news.

Says the rocker: “They were like, ‘What? Who? What’s going on?’”

Gibson is elated, too.

“I love him for him,” says Gibson, who turns 40 Dec. 25. “I’ve been through everything with him. A ring and a paper wouldn’t make me love him more. I’m just happy he’s alive.”

“But this is the best birthday and Christmas present ever,” she says. “We’ll be virgins stepping into the whole engagement and marriage thing. And with our girls growing up, we’ll all have the same last name.”

A: Yes, I’ve had two severe headaches where I thought I was, but I wasn’t. The doctors told me it’s to be expected.

A: I’m only 85 percent back, so I can’t kickbox. I have short-term memory loss, so I have to repeat things to myself over and over. And I haven’t had a good night sleep’s since. My goal next year is to rock harder and sleep more!

I saw Poison on tour way back when they were on the way out, in the early 90s. Bret is an engaging performer, if I recall correctly. Warrant was the opening act. I guess Bret deserves credit for finding a way to make himself relevant 20 years later when most of the other hair band members are probably bald overweight real estate agents.

Bret’s next reality show is called Bret Michaels: Love Guru, where he’ll give out relationship advice (seriously). Star Magazine reports that there is another royal wedding coming up, but don’t expect the same hysteria as that surrounding Prince William’s. In fact, this royal wedding wasn’t even allowed to be announced until Prince William’s was.

So congratulations to Princess Beatrice, the 22-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Fergie (the Duchess, not the Black Eyed Pea). She is engaged to her boyfriend of four years, David Clark.

David is the astronaut relations head at Virgin Galactic. How cool a job is that?

“Bea and Dave are closer than ever,” a source says of the couple, who actually got engaged before William and Kate but have been required by royal protocol to let the other duo make their announcement first. “But they didn’t mind waiting to celebrate, since they’re not planning to wed until 2012.”

Beatrice has had a rough year, after her mother Sarah Ferguson faced bankruptcy and a bribery scandal. An insider told Britain’s Now magazine, “Bea’s had quite a tough year. But Dave’s been there cheering her up and making her smile.”

Beatrice is fifth in line to the throne of England. Plus, she probably gets a window seat on Virgin’s first trip to space, which is cooler in my mind.

Back in 2008, Shania Twain was devastated to find out that her husband Matt Lange had been screwing around on her with his secretary, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. Marie-Anne was also one of Shania’s close friends, so it was a double-whammy. Shania recovered nicely, though – in the arms of Marie-Anne’s husband, Frederic Thiebaud. Frederic and Shania have been together since 2008, and now Shania’s rep confirms to Us Weekly (for this week’s Us Weekly cover story) that Shania and Frederic are now engaged! Good for them.

Looks like they made it! Country superstar Shania Twain is engaged to Frederic Thiebaud, her rep confirms exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly, out Tuesday. Twain, 45, stepped out with Thiebaud, 40, for a PDA-packed lunch at Serafina’s Fabulous Grill in NYC on Thursday with an enormous engagement ring.

“I’ve never seen Shania so happy,” a pal tells Us of the singer. Swiss-born Thiebaud, a Nestle business executive, popped the question about two months ago in Switzerland.

The couple’s road to matrimony was an exceptionally complicated one. Thiebaud is the ex-husband of Twain’s former best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud — the woman Robert “Mutt” Lange, Twain’s husband of 14 years, abruptly left her for in May 2008. (Both Lange and Marie-Anne denied the affair.)

Twain and Frederic reached out to one another in the wake of the stunning double betrayal, and were spotted vacationing together in Canada, New York City and Florida.

Finally, in August 2009, Twain — who has a 9-year-old son, Eja, with Lange — came clean about their new romance.

Writing on her official website, she called Frederic “a dear friend and true gentleman…We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other up. We’ve become stronger and closer through it all.”

Adds the Twain pal: “She has ended up with the love of her life.”

Us Weekly had the scoop last week, and now here are the photos! Mario Testino was called in to do Prince William and Kate Middleton’s formal engagement portraits, and they are really rather lovely. I love that there are two, and that Kate had a costume change. One is a formal, somewhat stuffy portrait of the two in suits – William looking royal and Kate looking rather wonderful in a white Reiss suit/dress, and in the background there’s some royal fixtures. The second one (above) is my favorite – William in a sweater and Kate in a Whistles blouse, and they’re holding each other tightly. Kate looks so, so happy. Way to go, girl! This is what she’s wanted for nine long years. Let her have her moment, y’all. Even though the biscuit factory is closed!

To go glamorous or relaxed in the world’s most-anticipated engagement photos? For Prince William and Kate Middleton, the answer was clear: both! The newly released photos – the official portrait photographs for the engagement of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton – were captured during a two-hour shoot by fashion photographer Mario Testino, who was hand-selected by the groom-to-be, 28, for the task.

“Prince William has worked with Mario Testino on many occasions before, and so the couple decided that he was the right choice for such an important portrait,” said a Clarence House spokeswoman.

Middleton, 28, did her own makeup for the photos (as she did for her televised post-engagement interview), a source tells PEOPLE, though Testino’s makeup artist was on hand for touch-ups.

And those famous tresses? The princess-to-be got her hair done by her usual stylist, James Pryce, from the Richard Ward salon.

For the formal photo – which was snapped in the historic Council Chamber linked to Clarence House, the official residence of William’s father Prince Charles – Prince William donned a Turnbull and Asser suit, while Kate chose a white Reiss dress and Links earrings. For the dressed-down denim look – taken in the Cornwall Room of St. James’s Palace – William changed into a Turnbull and Asser shirt and Brunello Cucinelli sweater, with Kate opting for a Whistles blouse.

“I am very happy to have been asked to cover this historic moment that the whole world was waiting for. They are in their prime and brimming with happiness,” says Testino, the same photographer who took iconic pictures of Princess Diana shortly before her 1997 death. “I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.”

Those close to Middleton say the bride-to-be has taken a special interest in her appearance since she began dating the heir to the British throne eight years ago.

“Kate is always perfectly manicured, and she will have blow-dries before she goes out,” says Katie Nicholl, royal watcher and author of William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls. She adds that Middleton and William likely got their teeth whitened in advance of their Nov. 16 engagement announcement.

The pair’s April 29, 2011 nuptials should be the biggest royal event since Prince Charles married Diana in 1981.

Prince William and his commoner girlfriend, both 28, made a secret pact to marry three years ago while on vacation in the Seychelles. “Kate wanted assurances from William,” Nicholl explains. “William told Kate she was The One, but he was not ready to get married. She…agreed to wait for him.”

Another insider tells Us: “He wants to spend the rest of his life with her.”

Back in October, Marion Cotillard debuted a dramatic new look – bangs trauma and major, gigantic boobs. Marion wasn’t really flat-chested before, but it seems like all of a sudden the girl is Jessica Simpson-sized in the boob department. This lead some of us to discuss the pregnancy-boobs versus boob job debate. Marion helped us out a month later by stepping out once again looking slightly heavier, with perhaps a slight hint of bump. And now, one month after the initial boobs-and-bangs trauma, we have new photos of Marion from this week’s Marrakech Film Festival, were she was promoting a film directed by her long-time lover Guillaume Canet (Diane Kruger’s ex-husband). And now PopEater points out that Marion might have been debuting something else on the red carpet – an engagement ring? Here’s the close up of the ring she wore:

Morocco got some refreshing attention last week from the Marrakech Film Festival, but Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard snagged some of the spotlight by wearing a rock on her finger at the opening ceremony. Photos have surfaced revealing what appears to be an engagement ring on Cotillard’s ring finger while she walks next to her boyfriend Guillaume Canet.

There are no confirmed reports from Cotillard or Canet about an engagement, so maybe the French starlet is keeping it hush-hush. Historically, Cotillard and Canet speak very little about their relationship to the media. In fact, they didn’t even attend the 2009 Cannes Film Festival on the red carpet together.

Canet, an actor, director and writer, is considered the George Clooney of France these days, which makes Cotillard and Canet one of the premiere French couples. The couple first united while working on the set of French film ‘Love Me if You Dare’ (2003), then officially began dating in 2007. They’ve continued to work together ever since with ‘The Last Flight’ (2009) and ‘Les Petits Mouchoirs’ (2010).

Kelsey Grammer, 55, is officially engaged to his girlfriend, a 29 year-old British flight attendant that he took up with behind his wife’s back while he was in New York for work. (Radar has a photo of the gigantic engagement ring.) If all we were privy to were the details of Kelsey’s infidelity, we might actually feel sorry for his wronged wife of 14 years, Camille. Instead, we’ve gotten to know Camille on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and many of us completely understand Kelsey’s motivation, if not the way he went about. Kelsey and his now-fiance, Kayte Walsh, confirmed the news through Kelsey’s rep yesterday. I assumed that these two were engaged for some time, as they were seen shopping for rings at Harry Winston three months ago. Kayte will be Kesley’s fourth wife, once he takes care of that pesky divorce from Camille, with whom he has no prenup. The couple recently moved into a bigger, more luxurious apartment in New York city.

Kelsey Grammer is engaged to his new girlfriend Kayte Walsh, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

“They are engaged. They never really announced it, they are very happy and very much in love,” his rep Stan Rosenfield told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

She was spotted wearing a huge diamond engagement ring on arrival at a train terminal in Washington D.C. over the weekend. They were in town as guests at the annual The Kennedy Center Honors gala.

Kelsey, 55, and Kayte, 29, suffered a terrible setback earlier in the fall when she had a miscarriage shortly after announcing that they were expecting their first child together.

Camille Donatacci, the actor’s third wife, filed for divorce in July citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce has yet to be finalized.

The demise of Kelsey and Camille’s marriage unfolded while Camille filmed the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. At the beginning of the season, Kelsey is seen leaving as the summer began to do a one-year stint on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles.

Shortly after his move, Camille learned that he had begun seeing flight attendant Walsh.

Camille and Kelsey were married for fourteen years and have two young children together.

So Kelsey was at least considering proposing to Kayte when he invited the paps to film them looking at rings at Harry Winston in mid August. That would have been a mere month after he filed for divorce. The guy doesn’t waste time. While it seems supremely dumb to jump into another marriage right away like this, I guess I can’t really blame him. Many people are surprised he dealt with that nasty piece of beef jerky Camille for as long as he did. It’s just sad that there are kids involved.

According to the National Enquirer, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough are taking their fauxmance to the next level. They claim that Ryan, 35, proposed to Julianne, 22, during their well documented Paris jaunt and she accepted. The Enquirer’s gossip guy, Mike Walker, name drops Seacrest practically every week with the most insignificant gossip. If anyone would get an exclusive on Ryan’s engagement, it would be the Enquirer. I know a lot of people think Ryan bats secretly for the other team, and the way the whole “kiss on the beach with Teri Hatcher” played out (particularly the way she explained it) make me think that could be the case and that he plays the media to his advantage. It’s possible that he is straight and just very fussy, though. It happens. I could also see him going for a much younger non-challenging partner like Julianne. (If he goes for chicks at all, other than in photo ops.) Here’s the Enquirer’s report. It’s like Ryan took a page out of Tom Cruise’s book.

The “American Idol” host surprised the “Burlesque” star with a proposal during a recent vacation to Paris, sources say, and he’s even cutting back his workload to start a family!

“Ryan is ready to make Julianne his bride, but he wanted to blow her away with the most romantic proposal possible,” an insider divulged.

“With only a few weeks before ‘Idol’ is back on TV, he organized a quickie trip to Paris and invited his sister and his parents along so they could share in the happy occasion…”

To prove how serious he is about building a solid future together, the ambitious go-getter is scaling back on work, the insider said.

“Ryan is planning top opt out of renewing the contract for his syndicated radio show,” said the insider. “Julianne has transformed him from a work machine into a love machine.”

You know, if they’re both happy with this arrangement, whatever it is, good for them. Congratulations on their engagement whether it’s for show or not. I can’t see any self-respecting woman going along with this (if it’s not real, etc) but Julianne did get to go to Paris and I bet she dropped a lot of Ryan’s cash on nice designer things. I also bet he helped her pick them out. And I swear to you – I wrote all that before I saw these photos of them buying Louboutins. Hand to God, to borrow a phrase from Kaiser. In Touch Weekly has an interesting story about LeAnn Rimes this week. I guess I find it interesting because I’ve been wondering where LeAnn has been hiding the past few weeks, since the barrage of LeAnn/Eddie/Brandi Glanville stories this time last month. LeAnn has still been tweeting like a mad woman, of course, but it seems like since Brandi and Eddie sat down and hashed out some kind of agreement, everybody has taken it down a notch. Which is good. Of course, ITW has a theory as for why LeAnn has temporarily sidelined herself – she’s waiting, allegedly, for a big PR explosion towards the end of the year when she will announce her engagement to Eddie. If that’s not enough, ITW also claims they have eyewitnesses who saw her checking out home pregnancy tests at a Rite Aid. The pull quotes for the story say things like: “LeAnn cares so much about what the public thinks… she can’t wait to be Eddie’s wife and have his children” and “LeAnn has been very vocal about wanting Eddie’s baby.” Oh, it’s about to get raw.

LeAnn Rimes has been an open book about her love for boyfriend Eddie Cibrian, posting gushing updates almost daily on Twitter – until the past week when things went eerily quiet, shortly after LeAnn shot down rumors that Eddie had proposed. But a family insider says Eddie and LeAnn are engaged.

“When they were in Mexico in September, Eddie asked LeAnn to marry him,” the insider tells In Touch. “They live together, and LeAnn parents his kids with him, so she sees them as married already.”

But now she wants to make it official. On November 22, LeAnn snuck into Neil Lane to pick out her own ring. If Eddie had his way, a source explains, he’s “get it from Polacheck’s Jewelers in Calabasas – he grew up with Brent Polacheck.” But LeAnn wants to do it her way.

It was just last week that Real Housewife of Atlanta Kim Zolciak confirmed her pregnancy to Life & Style Magazine. She got knocked up by Kroy Biermann, a ginger football player, and likely a very stupid man. Anyway, Radar is now reporting that Kim and Kroy (ugh) are engaged. This poor bastard. He’s not only going to get stuck with child support payments, she’s going to bleed him dry for alimony too. Oh, and Radar is going with the age of “32” for Kim as well. My ass.

Real Housewives Of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak is engaged to Atlanta Falcons star Kroy Biermann, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. The couple – who are expecting their first baby together next year – have not gone public with the news yet, but they plan to marry before the popular reality TV star gives birth.

Zolciak, 32, recently confirmed that she was in fact expecting a child with the 25-year-old NFL player following weeks of speculation that she was pregnant.

A source told RadarOnline.com: “Kim and Kroy are engaged, and only a few people know about it. They wanted to announce it in a national magazine, but Kim was so excited that she told a couple of close friends about it. Obviously, they are both really happy about both the baby and their engagement and cannot wait to start their new lifes together. Kroy proposed to her and bought her a substantial ring which she has shown to a few friends, although she is not wearing it in public yet. Kim is actually in her second trimester with her pregnancy now, and the couple are still in talks about getting their own spin-off reality show.”

“And if this does not happen then she will want to re-negotiate her terms on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta if her wedding and new baby were to be featured on the show. The other cast members are publicly backing Kim and Kroy but privately there are some jealousies because Kim is very much in the spotlight right now and not everyone is happy about that.”

Zolciak confirmed her baby news last week in an interview with Life & Style Magazine saying, “I was surprised! While it wasn’t planned, God clearly has a bigger and better plan for us and we’re excited.”

In October, an ex-boyfriend of Zolciak’s spilled the beans of her pregnancy. “I was appalled and disgusted by that. I wasn’t through my first trimester – you never know what could happen,” Kim told the magazine.

Zolciak, 32, has two daughters (ages 13 and 9) from a previous marriage, and has been dating Biermann, 25, a defensive end for the Atlanta Falcons, since this past May.

So they were dating since May, and she’s already three months pregnant (at least!). So she got knocked up in mid to late August, at the very latest (and she’s probably lying about it anyway). My God, she really stuck her Barbie claws into this one, didn’t she?
