In Touch: Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick are getting married for the cash

wenn3070851
In an all too predictable move, Kourtney Kardashian’s sociopathic baby dad, Scott Disick, reportedly proposed to her in early November. He didn’t do it for love or commitment reasons, according to In Touch, but conceded to an ultimatum by Kourtney to marry him or get kicked off the family’s reality show. Kourtney’s pimp mom Kris is of course on board because she knows how much money they can make off the wedding rights. This sounds like a disaster:

Scott Disick [proposed to Kourtney] in early November – but the act was as devoid of romance as the couple’s relationship. According to sources close to the family, the “engagement” is nothing more than a calculated business decision intended to drive up ratings for their new show, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and feather the Kardashian nest…

Explains a family friend, “It’s more of a business opportunity than true love. Scott and Kourtney are going to make a fortune off their wedding – E! has already offered more than $500,000 for the wedding rights, and that is only one of the many deals. It’s all about the endorsements, and their business machine is already in overdrive.

It may seem shocking that Kourtney, 31 – mother to Scoot’s 11-month-old son, Mason – would want to make a lifelong commitment to the man who has let her down, time and time again. But apart from the cash, she has her reasons, says the insider. “Kourtney is very tradition. She did not want Mason to have unmarried parents. So she approached Scott and basically said, ‘Either we get married or you are out of the family and off the show.’”…

“Kris Jenner sees this as a huge opportunity to cash in, and is already shopping around deals.”

[From In Touch, print edition, December 6, 2010]

Kourtney is said to be opposed to the wedding because she “thinks Scott is a loser.” There’s no word on what Kim thinks, although this week’s Enquirer reports that Scott hit on Kim! The creep allegedly thinks that by hooking up with Kim he’ll be better off. Luckily Kim wants nothing to do with him.

When Kim and Scoot were at a bar together recently, the insider says Scott pulled her aside and whispered: “You and I would be so good together…”

“[Kim] was disgusted by Scott hitting on her…”

“I think he’s bored with Kourtney and decided that he’d be better off hitching himself to Kim, who is the family’s biggest star.

“Never in a million years would Kim consider dating Scott. But that hasn’t stopped him from trying.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, December 6, 2010]

The few times I’ve watched this show, Scott has never been there for Kourtney and has disappointed her time and again. Instead of realizing that she’s better off without the guy, she’s supposedly marrying him for the money! You get what you ask for, and this girl will never learn. I hope this story isn’t true, or at least that Kourtney gets a good prenup. You know why Scott has stayed with her this long, and we know his motivations for marrying her. Money rules in this family and dictates their personal lives. They know how Scott is, and he’s one of their own.

Jessica Simpson says she cried for five minutes after proposal (update)

fp_6099739_simpson_jessica_cjny_112110

You know how I’m a total bitch, right? Well, I’ve stooped to a new level of C-U-Next-Tuesday-ness, because as I was reading Us Weekly’s coverage of Jessica Simpson’s appearance on the Early Show, I laughed out loud, and I haven’t been able to stop giggling yet. Remember how Jessica was demanding that the wait staff at her engagement party tell her how cute her budget engagement ring is? Yeah… Jessica said that when Eric proposed and she saw the ring, she burst into tears. TEARS OF JOY. Here’s the line that is making me laugh so much: “I first said ‘Yes!’. I didn’t even try the ring on until 5 minutes in. I just sat there and cried with him.” OMG! Can’t you just see it?!? Jessica takes one look at the ring and she starts crying and Eric starts crying and Jessica is like “Oh, I guess I should try it on, maybe.” She should have pretended that it didn’t fit, and then gently suggest that they go out and get another ring.

Tears of joy! Jessica Simpson says she was a shocked, blubbery mess after Eric Johnson, her beau of less than six months, proposed Nov. 11. Opening up about her engagement during a Monday appearance on CBS’ The Early Show, Simpson, 30, says Johnson’s proposal was “a total surprise.”

“I had to sit on his knee I was shocked,” the singer says. “To really get what was happening.”

What was her reaction when Johnson gave her a ruby, diamond and gold Neil Lane sparkler?

“I first said ‘Yes!’” Simpson told Harry Smith, giggling. “I didn’t even try the ring on until 5 minutes in,” she explained. “I just sat there and cried with him.”

She says she loves that Johnson went the unconventional route with her new sparkler — choosing the ruby, her birthstone, to make the ring stand out.

“I’ve already done the traditional thing,” she sniffed of her ring from first husband Nick Lachey, who’s also newly engaged to love Vanessa Minnillo. “I wanted to do something that was different.”

She says that beau Johnson “had a plan a long time ago” to propose. “He had a [sit-down] with my mom and dad about it…He was a gentleman about it.”

Now promoting a new Christmas album, she cooed that Johnson is “the best man in my life…He is just really thoughtful. Keeps me very centered. [He always] makes me feel like my feet are on the ground.’

Added the bride-to-be: “He’s the most special part of my life and my day.”

Along with her parents, the engaged couple are spending their first Thanksgiving in New York City.

[From Us Weekly]

And now I’m laughing at the idea of poor Eric sitting down with Papa Joe “a long time ago” to talk about marrying poor dumb Jessica. That is the conversation I would like to have a video of. Honestly, I imagine that the “business” side of this would make our heads spin. I bet Papa Joe offered an old-fashioned dowry for his daughter. Ugh. Why should we not call Jessica pathetic when that’s the way she demands to be treated?

UPDATE: In case you wanted to watch the video of Jessica’s Early Show appearance:

Here’s a closeup of the ring:

Jessica Simpson demands people compliment her ring at her engagement party

Jessica Simpson, Stephanie March Nick Cannon attend the Operation Smile benefit at Cipriani's Wall St in NYC, NY on May 6, 2010. Fame Pictures, Inc

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson threw themselves an engagement party on Thursday night, which seems rather soon to me. I think the theory/guess that Jess and Eric will be walking down the aisle in a hurry is probably right on – if you told me the nuptials were going to be around Christmas, I wouldn’t yell at you. I really do think she’ll try to have this wedding bigger and sooner than Nick’s… and the fact that she’s still comparing is pathetic. Anyway, whirlwind engagement, big, fat engagement party, etc. Most sites covered it without bashing Jessica – People Magazine notes that the theme of the party was “Italian” which basically means they ordered pizzas. A source notes that Jessica was excited to show off her ring. Us Weekly gets more details:

Less than a week after Us Weekly exclusively broke the news of their engagement, Jessica Simpson, 30, and Eric Johnson, 31, celebrated with friends and family at a party on Thursday night.

About 40 to 50 people, including a few NFL players, gathered at the California home of Simpson’s parents, Joe and Tina. Guests were served hamburger and veggie burger sliders, chicken skewers, mini pizzas, shrimp, and for dessert, mini cupcakes.

“They were very happy,” a friend of Jessica’s tells UsMagazine.com. “It was the first time they had seen a lot of their friends since the engagement. She was excited to see her girlfriends.”

[From Us Weekly]

Sounds nice. In Touch Weekly has an interesting/hilarious sidenote though – apparently the whole affair was catered by La Loggia Italian Bistro, including wait staff. And this is what happened:

“Jessica and Eric looked so happy,” an insider tells In Touch.

Not all was smooth sailing, however — the singer, who along with her former football player beau arrived two hours late for the soiree, seemed anxious for guests’ approval of her unique ruby engagement ring.

“At one point, she asked one of the servers what she thought of the ring. When the server said it was beautiful, Jessica snapped, ‘You don’t mean that!’” the insider says. But all in all, the blond beauty enjoyed her celebration.

“Jessica is in love,” the insider adds, “and kept talking about her wedding plans and new life with Eric.”

[From In Touch Weekly]

I love the idea of Jessica showing everyone her dumb mall ring and snapping at people who don’t exclaim “OMG, that’s the best ring, EVER!” I so hope this is true. It’s perfect!

Also – I know some of you are theorizing that Jessica is pregnant. I wouldn’t doubt it in the least.

Who will design Kate Middleton’s dress & when’s the wedding?

prince_william_engagement_25_wenn3101701

Well, as everyone predicted, the royal-sycophant industry is going like gangbusters since Prince William and Catherine “Not So Waity Katie Now, Bitches” Middleton announced their engagement on Tuesday. Do you know how powerful, how agile, how prepared the royal-sycophant industry is? Crazily so. I was shocked on Tuesday morning how many “royal correspondents” and “royal experts” came out within minutes of the announcement. It’s like there’s some kind of Royalist BatPhone that connects straight into the cave that holds Piers Morgan and Kitty Kelly and Tina Brown. Anyway, People Magazine got an “exclusive” with Kitty Kelly, who is basically just theorizing about what could happen at the wedding. Meanwhile, people (“royal watchers”) are saying that Will and Kate spent most of Wednesday in high-level wedding talks with Buckingham Palace. Here’s more from People:

Prince William and fiancée Kate Middleton are suddenly knee deep in wedding planning. And like your average commoners, it sounds like they’ll be fielding friendly advice from just about everyone.

In a statement on Wednesday, his office said: “Prince William and Miss Middleton have spent the morning in meetings with Household staff about the wedding. An announcement about venue and date will be made in due course after other Members of the Royal Family, Mr. and Mrs. Middleton and the Government have been consulted.”

Of course, unlike your average commoners, William and Kate’s decisions about their big day are eagerly anticipated by literally billions of people. While we wait, let’s break down some of the possibilities.

When will it happen? July 8 is said to be a favored date, but July 29 is a strong possibility, too, as that is the 30th anniversary of William’s mother Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles.

Where will it happen? The couple have said London, which likely means either St. Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey. The former is where Charles and Diana married in 1981. The latter holds sad memories for William, as his mother’s funeral was held there in 1997.

Who will be the best man? Almost certainly William’s brother, Prince Harry.

What does the engagement ring signify? “The whole world knows it was Princess Diana’s engagement ring, and even though her marriage to Will’s father turned out to be so abysmal, there was so much hope and happiness in the beginning,” Kitty Kelley, author of The Royals, tells PEOPLE. “If his mother were alive, she’d probably give him that ring to give to this young woman.”

What titles will the couple have? There are only a few prominent titles left. These are the dukedoms of Clarence, Cambridge and Sussex. None of these have any distinct connection to William, but they are senior titles and would be “eminently suitable,” according to a heraldry expert.

Is it okay to marry a commoner? “It’s the 21st century,” says Kelley. “I know that the British press is making a lot out of that. … I think it’s very hurtful. I think the story has worn itself out, and it should wear itself out.”

What will Kate do for work? She has said she is looking forward to making a “difference,” adding: “I’m willing to learn quickly and work hard.” Like all royals, she will gradually build up patronages that match her interests. She already supports the Starlight charity, which helps terminally and severely ill children, and is “winding down” her current work with her parents’ party supply business.

Will the public embrace Kate? “She is the wife of Princess Diana’s first-born son and the heir to the throne,” Kelley says. “Oh, I think there will be great goodwill extended towards her.”

Could the reign ever pass over Charles to William? “No. No. Never,” Kelley says. “The only way is if Charles found himself under a bus and run over and it would pass from the Queen to Wills. There are a lot of people who would like to see it that way, but it won’t happen that way.”

Will this wedding help the Royal Family? “I do think the marriage will reboot the monarchy,” says Kelley. “Many in England are getting sick of footing the bills of the Royal Family. There’s a small movement that wants to demolish the monarchy. This wedding will help them because this will bring a lot of goodwill to the monarchy.”

[From People]

My favorite of all of the royal watchers/experts/reporters/sycophants, The Mail’s Katie Nicholl says that she wouldn’t be surprised if the wedding date was earlier than June or July. She thinks it could even be as soon as April. We’ll see on that one. Oh, and Kate was seen at Westminster yesterday – so chances are pretty good that that’s the locale for the wedding.

What else… oh, apparently, Princess Diana’s ring didn’t even have to be resized for Kate. It fit perfectly! And this blue dress that Kate wore for her whirlwind announcement and stuff? It’s from the label Issa, which is Kate’s favorite, and which she wears often. Some people think Issa’s designer, a Brazilian living and working in the UK named Daniella Issa Helayel, will be asked to do the wedding dress. I’m not so sure – Issa is a solid label for the girlfriend of a prince, for sure. Not so much for a princess, and not for her wedding day. In the past, Kate has worn Issa’s simple, easy (budget Gucci?) silhouettes, and she always looks nice, but she looks like she picked out some nice dresses at a mall – for real. Kate has a reputation as a conservative dresser, but I’d just like to point out that many of the dresses she chooses would look totally trashy on a girl with bigger boobs – lots of low-cut, clingy silk jersey and loud, bright colors that Kate only looks “conservative” in because she’s slender and has a small bust. I really hope Kate picks out a more traditional designer for her wedding gown.

Kate Middleton & Prince William are finally, officially engaged after nine years

101023x3_1_william_b-gr_01

I got up early this morning (because I am hungover, ugh), and I was shocked at the Today Show’s first story: the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton! This wasn’t supposed to happen until next year or the year after! Oh, well. It’s all official and everything – William officially proposed to Kate in October while they were in Kenya (on one of their eight annual holidays), and the idea is that they will have the wedding next Spring or Summer (nail it down Kate!) some time. Waity Katie waits no more! After nine long years, she’s going to be a bride, her only goal, ever. Here’s the official statement:

The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.

The wedding will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

Prince William and Miss Middleton became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya. Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton’s father.

Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.

[From People]

People Magazine also has a quote from an “old friend” who claims: “Everyone is absolutely delighted. He has never had eyes for any other woman since Kate came on the scene. She is going to make a wonderful wife, a wonderful princess.” Yeah, he’s never had eyes for anyone else except all of those women that he went off with after dumping Kate multiple times from 2002-2007 (here for Vanity Fair‘s article on the history of their breakups). Granted, 2007-2010 has been a lot more stable for the couple, but enough with the whitewash.

Okay, so I have to eat sh-t for some things, and I have to take credit for some things. Here’s a convenient list:

*I honestly didn’t think the engagement would happen right now. I really did think that William would make Kate wait for another couple of years. My bad.

* I told you Katie Nicholl at The Mail knew what she was talking about. That bitch has sources in the Middleton family. My suspects: Carole Middleton (Kate’s mom) or Kate herself.

*I will take credit for knowing that Kate’s parents appearance at Balmoral just a few weeks ago was significant, and a good sign for their relationship.

*I really, really wanted Will to dump Kate after she was content to be his doormat, beck-and-call girl for nine long years. I thought it would provide a valuable life lesson to young women all over the world: do not spend that much time waiting around for a ring, and doing nothing else. Get a job, do some charity work, make the dude wait around for you once in a while. Instead, little girls are now getting an entirely different life lesson: if you wait long enough and do nothing but run to your man every time he calls, and take him back after he screws around on you repeatedly, then you too can win the big prize of a ring. Ugh.

That being said, congratulations to the happy couple. I’m really looking forward to the engagement interview – I’ve never heard Kate’s voice before.

Here’s the Today Show’s video for the engagement announcement:

Did Eric Johnson & Jessica Simpson get engaged at 11:11 on 11/11?

44980, NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Wednesday Septemeber 15 2010. Jessica Simpson makes a guest appearance at Macy's in New York's Herald Square to launch her collection for the Find Your Magic campaign. The curvy Texan celebrated her 30th birthday the day before. Photograph: Darla Khazei, PacificCoastNews.com

Yesterday, after I wrote the story about Jessica Simpson’s engagement, I had a chuckle when someone commented that NOW we would be able to forget about Jessica, and that we should be able to stop doing stories about her. It still makes me laugh, honestly. Because that budget, fugly ring is only the beginning. From here on out, there is going to be a ton of new interviews with Jessica and Eric, there will probably be some sort of reality show being pitched, or at the very least, a “special” two-hour “Making of… Jessica’s Wedding!” docu-drama on one of the major networks. We’re going to have Jessica stories coming out the wazoo (Jessica’s wazoo farts smell like cheddar and tragedy).

Already today we’ve heard about Joe Simpson’s sad congratulations to his daughter, and the rumor that he is going to force Jess into getting a pre-nup from Eric. Beyond all of the wedding stuff, though, we still have this story: Jessica announced her engagement nine days after her ex-husband. Us Weekly already has a poll up about who has the better ring, Jessica or Vanessa (hint: Vanessa). And that will only be the beginning of the “Race to the Altar” between the two exes. So it is an obvious question: was Jessica trying, in her f-cking stupid, dipsh-t way, to one-up and c-ckblock her ex‘s thunder? Why get engaged so soon after Nick? Well, People has a little story about why now:

It is the ultimate race to the altar! Nearly five years after Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey split – a mutual decision after three years of marriage – both stars are officially ready for round two.

Just a week after Lachey, 37, popped the question to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, 30, whom he began dating in 2006, Simpson’s beau, NFL player Eric Johnson, seemingly took a hint.

Johnson, 31, proposed to Simpson, 30, and now she has the ring to prove it.

Timing aside, however, a source tells PEOPLE that Johnson “had been planning the engagement for awhile and the date of the engagement was a special date for them.”

[From People]

Meanwhile, Todd at IDLYITW had a tip from a source close to the situation, who said: “A coworker of mine is related to Eric Whathisface, current Jessica Simpson squeeze. He’s from the Philadelphia area, so am I, so is my coworker, blah blah blah She told us yesterday that Jessica and he got engaged. The engagement was on 11/11 at 11:11 in the morning. I sh-t you not.” I want to believe that’s true, just because it’s so f-cking asinine. THAT is the “special date” that a source close to Eric was speaking of? Just a bunch of ones lined up in a row. Is that how far both of them can count? And if it was on the 11th, that would make it last Thursday – exactly one week after Nick announced his engagement.

UPDATE: Us Weekly just put up another story! I told this sh-t isn’t going away anytime soon. Nick Lachey has spoken, and he’s still keeping it classy: “I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best.” He also says that he and Vanessa Minnillo are “still basking in the glow… [we] are enjoying that. I’m sure we’ll get on the other planning shortly. We are now just enjoying this experience.” It sounds like Nick is smart enough to know that he doesn’t have to cut Jessica down, and that he knows Jessica already looks crazy pathetic.

Joe Simpson sends weepy congrats to Jessica Simpson (update: prenup?)

40284, NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Thursday May 6, 2010. Joe Simpson arriving back at his hotel in NYC after attending the Operation Smile Event with his daughter Jessica Simpson. Photograph: Darla Khazei, PacificCoastNews.com

Jessica Simpson’s rep has confirmed Jessica and Eric Johnson’s happy engagement news to everybody at this point, and without any sense of shame or awkwardness at having a big announcement just nine days after Nick Lachey and Vanessa announced their engagement. Jessica even flashed her ring at a mall appearance on Friday – a ruby with two diamonds, set in yellow gold. No disrespect to Zales, but Eric has tacky style if he picked out this ring. Anyway, beyond the confirmation from Jess’s rep, I was waiting for Jessica’s father to say something. After all, this is the man who so obviously prefers (worships) one daughter over the other. This is a man who talks freely about the size of his daughter’s boobs. This is a man who seems to compulsively c-ckblock his daughter, in business and in life (the thought of c-ckblocking Jess turns him on, I think). So… as you can imagine, Papa Joe was probably weeping at the thought of Jessica getting married:

Someone sure sounds excited about walking his daughter down the aisle!

Just days after Jessica Simpson accepted a ruby-and-diamond engagement ring from her boyfriend of five months, football player Eric Johnson, the bride-to-be’s father, Joe Simpson, posted his good wishes on Twitter.

“So very happy for Jess and Eric,” he posted Sunday night. “May they have a lifetime of joy and happiness.”

Joe joined Johnson, 31, at the filming of Jessica’s Thanksgiving PBS special last month, where the singer, 30, gushed to PEOPLE about her relationship with her beau, which she termed “just normal, thank God. He’s very, very supportive.”

She added that she “couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now.”

[From People]

Does anyone want to take bets on Jessica and/or Papa Joe f-cking this engagement up? I can see it going in one of two ways: either Eric has been fully prepared for every step of this engagement-to-wedding day famewhore extravanganza, and this is totally what he signed on for, OR Eric is going to run screaming in about two months, after Jessica’s millionth interview where she talks about Eric “loving her curves” and “being so smarty-pants” – and after the millionth time of Papa Joe making some kind of comment about his beautiful daughter’s massive rack. Ugh. This family. I want to hear from Tina.

UPDATE: Now I feel dumb for not seeing this one coming. According to PopEater’s gossip guy, Papa Joe and Jessica are already fighting over whether or not she needs a prenup. Note to Jess: You need a prenup! I’m with your daddy on this one. According to PopEater’s sources, “Nick walked away with over $10 million of her money when they divorced, because they had no prenup. You would think she would have learned her lesson. But where romance is concerned, Jess follows her heart not her head. At the moment, Joe is sitting back and being a great father, supporting his daughter and his future son-in-law… However, you can bet after all the excitement has died down, Joe is going to do everything in his power to make sure Jessica doesn’t walk down the aisle until Eric signs away any right he might have to Jessica’s enormous fortune.” Jess is worth an estimated $100 million, if not more.

Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson are engaged (update: confirmed!)

fp_5931561_simpson_jessica_per_102110

Well this is just shocking! Wait… no, that’s not the word. What word means “the opposite of shocking, and Jessica Simpson is being WAY too obvious in her attempt to steal the thunder of her ex-husband Nick Lachey, thus proving that she is, in fact, actually bothered by his recent engagement.” Is there a word for that? Something like “farty” or “Obvious McTragedy”. Anyway, Us Weekly has some sources who claim that Jessica and Eric Johnston are now engaged. So I’ll give Jessica some credit – it’s not like she’s confirming anything (her Twitter is quiet, as is People Magazine), this is just a random unnamed-source report from Us Weekly. Although… Us Weekly does get a lot of scoops about Jess. And Jessica has already made it pretty clear that she’s expecting a ring.

Jessica Simpson is off the market!

Sources confirm to UsMagazine.com that the singer, 30, became engaged to beau Eric Johnson on Thursday, just days after Us broke the news that her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, popped the question to Vanessa Minnillo, his love of nearly five years. Simpson and Lachey, 37, split in 2005, after three years of marriage.

On Saturday, Simpson flashed a sizable ring on her left hand during an appearance at Dillard’s at Oak Park Mall in Kansas City.

The Texas native began dating the former NFL player in May while he was estranged from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson; their divorce was finalized five months later.

Though Ashlee Simpson-Wentz recently told Us that her sister “is happy, so we’re all really happy,” sources insist that most of Simpson’s friends are concerned about Johnson’s motives for dating the singer.

“Eric was never that successful in the NFL, but he’s always wanted the celebrity lifestyle,” a source told Us in October. “Her friends do not trust him.”

[From Us Weekly]

I don’t really trust Eric either, although I do think he probably cares for Jess, and they do seem to make each other happy. At the end of the day, I don’t really know how a dude of normal intelligence puts up with Jessica for any extended period of time, but maybe the sex just completely makes up for everything. As far as the engagement rumor/report – eh. I think they probably will get engaged, but I’m not sure if it’s happening right now. Of course, the whole process could have sped up because of Nick’s announcement.

UPDATE: In Touch Weekly just confirmed the news with Jessica’s rep:

Just a week after her ex-husband Nick Lachey announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Simpson also has big news- she and her boyfriend of seven months, Eric Johnson, will also be walking down the aisle, a rep for the singer confirms to In Touch. “They are thrilled!” Jessica’s spokesperson says, adding that the couple became engaged late last week. This will be the second wedding for Jessica, who split from Nick in 2005 after three years of marriage.

So it’s on. Poor Farty McObvious. God, Jess. I mean… congratulations, but girl, keep your eye on your bank account. Hide yo’ checkbook!

LeAnn Rimes’ ex-husband Dean Sheremet is engaged… to a woman

dean1

Yesterday, Dean Sheremet confirmed his happy news to Us Weekly – he’s engaged! To a woman! Yes, the man once married to and tossed aside by LeAnn Rimes has found love again. With a woman. It really is shocking to me, but I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes the global gaydar is totally off. It really is possible for a former backup dancer once married to a country child star can somehow pick up the pieces and become a chef and a loving husband to another woman. His fiancée is a girl named Sarah Silver, and she’s a cute little blonde – I actually think she looks like a (prettier) version of LeAnn (see a red carpet photo of Dean and Sarah here).

Dean Sheremet is ready to make an honest woman out of Sarah Silver! A source tells UsMagazine.com exclusively that Sheremet, 29, proposed to his live-in love Friday morning in their NYC apartment.

“They were having a nice morning together and the moment felt right, so he proposed,” a source tells Us.

The Nobu 57 chef, who graduated first in his class from Manhattan’s French Culinary Institute in March, “gave her a beautiful antique ring” from the 1950s, set in white gold and weighing in at 3 carats.

“She is an amazing, talented woman,” Sheremet gushed to Us in July of his photographer girlfriend. “We have a lot in common and we are both very happy.”

Since accepting his proposal, Silver “is elated,” says a source. “They’re planning on a summer wedding in NYC.”

This won’t be the first marriage for Sheremet; the former backup dancer divorced country singer LeAnn Rimes in June, more than a year after Us Weekly broke the news of her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian (who was married to model Brandi Glanville at the time).

Congratulations to Dean and Sarah. I went on his Twitter and I was reminded of how he always seemed like such a nice guy. Okay, I’ll stop judging a book by its cover.

Of course, LeAnn Rimes had to chime in about her ex-husband’s engagement. At first, she just kept it simple, tweeting: “Congrats to @deansheremet and @sarah_silver on your engagement! A little birdie told me the happy news last night. Wishes for a life full of happiness.” And then she spent the next 24 hours tweeting responses to people questioning that tweet, effectively making Dean’s engagement all about LEANN. LeAnn tweeted stuff like “why wouldn’t it be. I would never say it if I didn’t mean it” and “my congrats is from my heart. Sorry if you don’t understand it. I do not need the publicity, I get plenty. please stop passing judgement” and “why would anyone be unhappy that someone they’ve loved in their life has found love again?? People just want to be negative!” and “i know for a fact he’s engaged or I wouldn’t congratulate him.” Sigh… LeAnn just doesn’t know how to just let it go, right? I suspect that she’ll “pull a Jessica Simpson” and she and Eddie will end up engaged by Christmas, just so that her ex won’t get all the attention.

Eddie Cibrian & LeAnn Rimes might be engaged, according to sources

Ugh, I had already a story about Brandi Glanville and her appearance on The Talk when this story popped up, so you’re getting everything in one post. According to E! News, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are engaged. E!’s sources say, “though it didn’t happen on Halloween, [Eddie] indeed popped the question recently and the duo are engaged.” But LeAnn’s rep didn’t have a comment. Do you think this is for real? I don’t… just because I don’t think this is the kind of engagement roll-out that LeAnn would have wanted. We’ll see.

Anyway, onto to Brandi Glanville. She sat down yesterday for an interview on The Talk, CBS’s budget version of The View. The topic: why her life sucks! Pity poor me, LeAnn is a bad person, et cetera. As much as I am truly tired of LeAnn Rimes’ smug overshare, I’ve also gotten very tired of Brandi Glanville and her “LeAnn and Eddie are the root of all evil” act. She even basically blamed them for her DUI, claiming that ever since her divorce, she’s just been so lonely that “one to two glasses of wine is now three to four.” So why not just sit in her house, drinking alone and watching Miss Marple like all of us fancy respectable alkies casual drinkers? Why does she have to go out driving like a drunk maniac?

Get ready for fireworks: Brandi Glanville, Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife, says she is finally “going to go and sit down and talk” to LeAnn Rimes. She made the announcement Thursday on the new daytime chatfest The Talk, USA Today reports.

During her chat with Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini and Julie Chen, Glanville said she thought she had “a great marriage” to Cibrian, 38. “My marriage – in my head – was not in trouble,” she said.

That’s why she was so caught off-guard by Us Weekly’s report that Cibrian and Rimes, 28, had an affair shooting a Lifetime flick last year.

She said it’s been tough adjusting, especially now that her two boys are living with Rimes and Cibrian.

“I’m used to having my kids all the time,” she said. “Now I have them part-time. I don’t have a nanny. I don’t have help. When they’re gone, I’m alone.”

What’s worse, she added, “all my friends are married.”

So she is usually left nursing wine alone. She said what used to be “one to two” glasses “is now three to four.”

But Glanville, who was recently arrested for DUI, insisted, “I don’t think I have a drinking problem. I think I had a problem the other night when I made a bad choice to drive.”

[From Us Weekly]

I don’t get that complaint/statement: “all my friends are married.” So… none of her friends have time to hear her complain about Eddie because they’re married? Or was that the excuse her friends used as a way to cut her off? Is Brandi upset that she doesn’t “fit in” with the gang anymore? Is this middle school? Ugh.

Oh, and LeAnn tweeted this: “@lilkaraokediva @brandiglanville @eddiecibrian completely agree all of our communications have and will remain private. I can speak for Eddie and me and hopefully everyone involved. Their boys first” I love how she tweets about keeping things private.

35026, WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - Monday October 19 2009. LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian have a very public dinner at West Hollywood's Katsuya restaurant. The couple had reportedly tried to leave the eatery via a side door, but changed their minds to come out via the front. Cibrian recently refused to speak out about his tangled love life with Rimes because he believes publicity only leads to more problems. Seems a shame he didn't know that Kastuya is a regular haunt of LA's paparazzi! Both stars were married when they met and have both since started divorce proceedings to end their respective marriages. Photograph: © Hellmuth Dominguez, PacificCoastNews.com
