Jon Gosselin to start a children’s clothing line with Ed Hardy designer Audigier

58249em_gosselin_b-gr_35
Jon Gosselin has chosen a mate among the two 20-something brunettes he’s been dating on the side. It looks like Hailey Glassman, 22, has his temporary interest. Hailey is the daughter of Jon’s estranged wife Kate’s plastic surgeon. Hailey and Jon are currently in the South of France, where they were seen on designer Christian Audigier’s boat. Audigier is responsible for the Ed Hardy fashion line, and Jon has been spotted out in little else lately. To show his appreciation to Gosselin for promoting the line as the clothing of choice for deadbeat dads trying to relive their 20s, Audigier has offered him a job designing children’s clothing. That makes sense, since Jon spends so much time with his children now. Kate has got to be pissed off, especially since her own plans for a clothing line were scrapped.

The newly single 32-year-old Jon & Kate Plus 8 star may be in St.-Tropez with his 23-year-old gal-pal, Hailey Glassman, but that doesn’t mean the trip is all fun and games.

Well, maybe it does.

The happy, hand-holding couple was spotted Saturday spending time aboard Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier’s yacht and, while much has been speculated about the reality patriarch working for the Frenchman, only E! News knows exactly what they’ve been discussing…

Apparently, owning an abundance of Ed Hardy shirts is qualification enough for a seriously sweet gig.

“We would like to do a line of children’s clothing,” Audigier told E! News exclusively on Sunday.

The father of eight and his GF are spending the evenings in a hotel and their days on the water aboard the ship. But the party ends in just two days.

“They’re having fun. I’m taking care of them,” the designer boasts.

Apparently, Kate Gosselin stayed home in Reading, Pa., running more errands and—gasp!—wearing her wedding rings.

[From E! Online]

Yes, Kate is still wearing her wedding ring and isn’t quite ready to give up the ghost on her marriage. She is said to be “furious” that Jon is in St. Tropez with Hailey and that they’re getting photographed. At least he’s no longer with the young teacher that her kids were getting attached to.

Meanwhile Radar Online reports that Jon arranged for Hailey, a burgeoning shoe designer, to get a meeting with the Ed Hardy staff to pitch her ideas. It’s doubtful this woman even studied fashion in college. Maybe Jon wants to make sure whichever woman he’s with does all the heavy financial lifting in the relationship. He dropped out of college and doesn’t have the best employment record. One of his old bosses even said he got canned for spending all his time at work on the Internet and phone looking for freebies. Given Jon’s penchant for bossy in-command women, I bet Hailey will be soon taking over and getting on his nerves in no time as he sits back, pops a cool one, and relies on her to take care of the household.

Miley Cyrus says her Walmart jeans will be “good for, like, Middle America”

070609_mileycover

Whenever I read any quote from Miley Cyrus, it makes me so glad no one kept a record of the stupid stuff I said at 16. And then I sigh and hope it really is just do to the fact that Miley is 16, and eventually she’ll grow out of it. Miley is on the cover of this month’s Elle, and she’s chatting about her clothing line with Max Azria for Walmart. I know, it seems like a strange mix. Anyway, she had a few precious quotes such as “The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like literally, this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but don’t have it available.” And the admission that she’d pay $500 for her $20 jeans, which doesn’t tell me much other than she just embarrassed herself.

Miley Cyrus is going to bring high fashion to “Middle America,” the “Hannah Montana” star said in the August issue of Elle magazine.

“Oh my God, I’m so stoked!” she said of her new line with Max Azaria for Wal-Mart. “It’s a lot of peasanty, flowy tops, hippie and loose and sexy, like boho chill mixed with English-rocker-esque. Plaids, studs, rips, cool colors. The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally, this is going to good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but they don’t have it available.”

And the star added that she’d be willing to pay top dollar for the fancy couture.

“I would pay $500 for the jeans that we make for $20,” she said. “I’m really into high fashion.”

If runway style seems like more of an adult interest, it’s because the 16-year-old star is growing up, showing off mature poses in the mag’s photoshoot and talking about her relationship, now over, with 20-year-old model Justin Gaston.

[From Elle via NBC]

Well I’m sure the Walmart shoppers of middle America are so grateful they can be given some fashion and culture via Miley Cyrus. And all for the low price of $20! I’m not sure that it’s such a wise idea to have Miley doing interviews with more adult magazines. Obviously she’s trying to transition from the tween/teen market and be seen as more mature, but the problem is – she isn’t mature yet. Some 16 year olds are practically adults while others are still kids. Miley seems very much to fall into the latter category, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There also isn’t any big advantage to growing up before you have to.

I’m sure going with more mature magazines is partially a business decision, but I think it’s ultimately hurting more than helping. Miley’s responses make her come off as naive and stupid, when really she’s just a kid who’s chatting away. She should be doing more “Seventeen” and less “Elle” and “Vanity Fair.”

Hayden Panettiere has sketchy fashion sense (mild spoilers for Heroes)

fp_3238550_panettiere_hayde
I kind of like Hayden Panettiere. I’m not all that invested in her or anything, but she’s seems smarter and more interesting than the standard-issue drunken-mess starlets. But Hayden’s fashion sense seems off, doesn’t it? Not that the clothes are totally whack, just that her clothes don’t always compliment her figure. Hayden’s been totally straight about her body, and how she feels about body criticism – her words were “I’m sorry, I’m a woman, I have cellulite.” Which is a funny way to make a point, especially when she actually has a nice, petite, healthy, athletic figure.

Hayden seems to dress like Cameron Diaz, favoring micro-mini skirts, barely-there cocktail dresses, and really hardcore shoes. But Cameron has the legs and height for it – and Hayden doesn’t. So sometimes she seems rather Hobbit-esque in these clothes meant for women with epic legs. That black lace dress Hayden wore to The Late Show did her no favors. And I’m getting the Hobbit vibe off Hayden in the faux-hippie pink dress with the billowing sleeves – but I’m not sure any woman could make that dress work, it’s a hot tranny mess, in the words of Christian Siriano. But I do like Hayden’s little one-shoulder cocktail dress, it’s very cute. But it looks like something Cameron Diaz would wear the hell out of, doesn’t it?

Possible mild spoilers for “Heroes”
In other Hayden news, the National Enquirer is reporting that Hayden’s sort-of hit show Heroes is pulling the standard ratings-grabbing crap for the new season: they will make Hayden’s cheerleader character experiment with her sexuality, and have some kind of lesbian kiss:

Hayden Panettiere who plays indestructible cutie on the seminal super-show Heroes is prepping for some girl-on girl tongue tactics as producers prep to drum up some Prop 8 theatrics for the flagging funny book skein.

According to reports, Hayden’s TV bosses are planning some light leszbo liasions for cheerleader Claire Bennett, enjoying a smooch with her collegiate roomie.

“It’s just girlie fun at first,” an insider revealed.

“But it might progress into something more serious. It depends on how viewers respond.”

And Hayden, natch.

[From National Enquirer]

I hate those kinds of ratings ploys. It seems rather tired, doesn’t it? Like it’s so 1999, when shows like Friends and Will & Grace pulled the same kind of thing. You know a show is dying when they bring in the faux-lesbian kisses. At least they’re not making Hayden dress up in that cheerleader outfit constantly, so I guess that’s the silver lining.

Ashley Olsen has given up acting to concentrate on her fashion line

fp_3159921_cfda_awards_scp_
We haven’t been hearing much from either of the Olsen girls, and for good reason – while Mary-Kate quietly builds a relatively solid career in television, Ashley claims that she has given up acting. Gasp! What will Hollywood do without her? Ashley gave an interview to Hamptons magazine, which is weird, because what does she have to promote again? Oh, right. Her clothing line, The Row. While Mary-Kate gets roles on Weeds and Samantha Who?, Ashley has been camped out in New York’s garment district, working on their joint ventureThe Row. The Row has been featured in Vogue, so I guess the line is doing pretty well. But if Ashley keeps pigging out on junk food as she mentions in the interiew, she won’t be able to fit in her own clothing line:

Ashley Olsen has confirmed that she has given up acting to work full-time in the fashion business.

“I used to be in the entertainment industry,” Mary-Kate’s twin tells Hamptons magazine, on sale now. “And now I feel passionate about the fashion industry. I understand what it takes to make a brand and to have an eye for product that sells. I don’t have the time to step away for a month. I hold myself accountable every day.”

Based in New York (“I can actually live here”), Ashley flies to her home in Los Angeles about every five weeks to visit her boyfriend, actor Justin Bartha of The Hangover and the company DualStar that she runs with her sister Mary-Kate, who she says “couldn’t be more supportive” of her new career path. Because of her exhausting routine, she unwinds with yoga… and lots of junk food.

“I am literally the worst eater in the world,” the self-professed “French fries and hamburger girl” tells the mag. “Being in the garment district, it’s Subway or pizza. I never actually thought about what I eat.”

However, a recent yoga retreat made her rethink what she’s been putting into her body. “I learned about cleansing and eating right for your body. I came back energized.”

So does Ashley’s new life mean she’s done with acting forever? “Never say never,” she says. But adds: “I really just love my job.”

[FromStar Magazine]

She flies back to LA every five weeks to see her boyfriend? Uh… good plan? Allegedly, Ashley and Justin are on the verge of being engaged or something, but I doubt they’re keeping it together in the long run if they only see each other every five weeks.

Regarding The Row and Ashley’s work on the line, I applaud her. Instead of focusing her energy on trying to maintain some level of celebrity based on the entertainment industry, she’s following her bliss to something she’s very passionate about. I totally buy that Ashley loves fashion, and that it’s probably her highest priority right now. We’re probably looking at the next Diane von Furstenberg!

Beyonce launches junior apparel label, names it Sasha Fierce

Beyonce Knowles

In the wake of the news that Jennifer Lopez is halting one of her junior clothing lines due to the economy, you’d think it’d be a bad time for another multitasking songstress to be branching out into that very same arena. But that’s exactly what Beyonce and mom Tina Knowles are doing with their new “Sasha Fierce” line for their label Deréon. Deréon already has a junior’s line – so how’s this one going to be different? Well according to them, it’s inspired by Beyonce’s Sasha Fierce “character” – who apparently is such a diva that she demands her own line.

Beyoncé and Tina Knowles are looking to capitalize more on Sasha Fierce. Utilizing the name of the singer’s alter ego and third solo album, “I Am…Sasha Fierce,” the mother and daughter design team plans to launch a new junior apparel label, Sasha Fierce for Deréon, for back-to-school selling. The collection, which is inspired by Beyoncé’s stage presence (she is on a world tour through November), includes a full range of sportswear, outerwear, handbags, footwear, eyewear, lingerie and jewelry. Positioned to sit alongside the company’s Deréon junior label, which is similarly priced, the line has so far been picked up by department stores including Macy’s and Dillard’s and specialty stores Jimmy Jazz and Against All Odds.

The collection, Tina said, is “edgier and trendier and reflects Sasha Fierce’s daring and outgoing attitude.” The jewelry, shoes and eyewear, she added, “are really over the top” with large chains made in mixed metals such as silver with gold, heavily studded shoes and oversize sunglasses such as the ones Beyoncé has been seen wearing on tour. The clothes are a little more subdued to make the accessories stand out — a one-shoulder dress, black bodysuit, fake leather jacket with oversize collar, leggings and destructed jeans with mesh and lace details lining the ripped material.

Beyoncé, who said in a statement “the line really exudes a different side of my personality, which I am grateful that I can express,” had a lot of say in the creation of the collection, Tina said… “She definitely tells me what she likes and what she doesn’t. It was her suggestion to line the rips of the jeans with the mesh and lace,” she said. “It makes the jeans look really different from what’s out there.”

[From Women’s Wear Daily]

I don’t know how different the look really is – at least based on the photos – but it’s definitely not bad. I am prematurely old and tend to dislike the urban style most juniors wear these days. But I like what Tina said about the clothes being more subdued in order to make the accessories look better. Most of the time when I pay attention to what people are wearing in New York, it’s like every single part of their ensemble is competing against the rest. It’s always too much, too chaotic, too many patterns, too much jewelry, etc. There is a way to wear the style that’s actually complementary, and though it’s certainly nothing I could ever pull off, the pictures show outfits that look good.

I know we’re never supposed to say anything good about Tina Knowles – especially her “design” work. But I think this line might actually really work – provided you’re in the 18-and-under demographic.

Jude Law wears a fancy vest, will return to Broadway in ‘Hamlet’

90629l3_law_b_gr_10

Imagine you’re Jude Law. Get off the nanny! No, seriously now. You’re Jude Law, and you want to take your youngest son Rudy to a London Starbucks. What do you put on? A t-shirt and some jeans, maybe? Or do you try too hard to look like you just pulled together some weird combination? Do you grab your fancy double-breasted grey vest and a pair of cargo shorts? If you were really in Jude Law’s head, you would always pick the fancy vest. In and of itself, the vest is funny, but I love that Jude is wearing nothing under or over the vest. How embarrassing is Jude for his kids? “Da–aad! You can’t wear the vest with cargo shorts and flip-flops!”

Honestly though, Jude Law looks pretty hot in these pictures. I’m remembering my crush on him circa 2000. The vest distracts from his hairline, so now all I can see is his shockingly buff arms. Yeah, I’d still hit it. The nannies and the vests may come and go, but Jude is still pretty foxy.

In other Jude Law news, his London run of Hamlet is doing really, really well. Jude got some of the best critical acclaim of his career for his turn as the misanthropic Dane, and it was just announced today that the same Donmar Warehouse production of Hamlet – with Jude – will be coming to Broadway.

That collective “oooh” you just heard from Broadway is the sound of theatergoers whose solid (or sullied) flesh has melted and resolved itself into a dew after learning that Jude Law is headed their way.

Mr. Law, the “Cold Mountain” and “Talented Mr. Ripley” star, will play the title character in a Broadway production of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” that is transferring from the Donmar warehouse in London.

In a news release Tuesday, publicists for the Broadway run of “Hamlet” said that the play would be directed by the Donmar Warehouse’s artistic director, Michael Grandage (Broadway’s Frost/Nixon), and would run for twelve weeks at the Broadhurst Theater.

Previews are scheduled to begin on Sept. 12 and an official opening is slated for Oct. 6. Additional actors from the Donmar Theater company are expected to join the “Hamlet” cast, and a production of the play is planned at Elsinore Castle in Denmark from Aug. 25 through 30.

[From The New York Times]

That’s actually very exciting – Broadway enthusiasts will correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this will be Jude’s first Broadway show since his breakthrough performance in Indiscretions at the very start of his career. The bad news is that Hamlet will be coming to New York at exactly the same time as Sienna Miller’s turn in After Miss Julie. Could we be seeing yet another Jude and Sienna hook-up?

Jennifer Lopez is putting one of her clothing lines on hiatus

fp_887053_fashionweek_lopez_nyc_09_091107

J-Lo is packing up one of her fashion lines. Now before you panic, keep in mind this is J-Lo we’re talking about – she’s got 38 different projects going on at any given time. So rolling up (not out) the red carpet on one of them isn’t the end of the entire world… unless you’re a major J-Lo lover. Then it is near-catastrophe.

J-Lo’s is putting clothing line Sweetface on official pause. It’s not gone forever – at least that’s the world for now. Instead, the company is calling it quits-ish while they revamp.

The recession has already claimed its faire share of celebrity lines from Mandy Moore’s Mblem to Lauren Conrad’s eponymous clothing line going on hiatus, and now WWD is reporting that Jennifer Lopez is following suit and shuttering the doors on her Sweetface line. After six years, Sweetface is halting production after the spring 2009 line, which is in stores now. Sweetface started in 2003 as a urban streetwear spin-off to the JLO by Jennifer Lopez line, but soon became a high end contemporary line. While Sweetface isn’t over forever — the company plans to relaunch with a new vision– no date has been set for its return to stores. But if you are a dedicated J. Lo shopper, you are still in luck — her JLO by Jennifer Lopez line still sells in 40 countries outside of the U.S, and she has six highly successful perfumes with another on the way later this year.

[From People]

Urban streetwear to high end contemporary is a nice little jump for a clothing line to make. Rather unexpected. It’s strange for a clothing line to basically go on hiatus without giving any good reason except something about a “new vision.” And that doesn’t even seem to be the reason, just they’re little bit of chatter about the future. Instinct tells me this is it for Sweetface. But you can still buy one of J-Lo’s 37 other lines of stuff.

Here’s Jennifer Lopez closing out New York Fashion Week by launching her Just Sweet collection for Spring 08. Images thanks to Fame Pictures .

Angelina Jolie: I only wear three basic colors

fp_3038674_ang_inglorious_basterds_2_0520091
I have no idea if this is a genuine interview or some third-hand tabloid account in which these quotes are attributed to Angelina Jolie. I think it’s probably from a small interview Angelina may have given the British OK! Magazine, and now comes to us via My Fashion Life. The quotes sound like Angelina though – which is why I think this was at some point part of a legitimate interview. Angelina is talking about her fashion. In my opinion, Angelina’s fashion sense is at best okay and at worst, boring and a bit too old for her. I was sorely disappointed with many of the dresses Angelina wore during the awards season this year, because she seemed to be dressing in just an endless string of glittery sacks. Part of the reason I adored the tight black column dress she eventually wore to the Oscars was that it wasn’t baggy, ill-fitting, or old-lady-ish.

Angelina admits that she doesn’t put too much thought into her red carpet fashion, and that she has “three basic colors and I get the same shapes in different colors!” Yeah, Angie, we noticed. We also noticed that one of your colors is beige. You need to stop that – it washes you out:

The Oscar-winning beauty – who is often voted one of the world’s most glamorous women – doesn’t worry about what she’s going to wear to major events and usually sticks to a style she feels comfortable in.

She said: “I don’t think too much about what to wear on the red carpet. I usually have three basic colours and I get the same shapes in different colours!”

Although Angelina isn’t overly concerned with fashion, she admits she does like to put on glamorous outfits from time-to-time as it makes a change from her everyday clothes.

The ‘Wanted’ star – who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt – said: “I like to get dressed up and feel like a lady every once in a while.”

Despite giving birth to twins Knox and Vivienne 11 months ago, Angelina has regained her super slim figure and credits it to running around after six children.

She told Britain’s OK! magazine: “I feel great, albeit a little sleep deprived! I run around with all these kids so it’s pretty busy. But I feel great and I’m very happy that they’re healthy.”

[From My Fashion Life]

So the twins are healthy now? But what about that Life & Style report claiming the twins were totally sick? Oh, right. It was Life & Style.

Am I being too harsh on Angelina’s style? She’s never been, say, a Nicole Kidman. Meaning that I think Nicole really cares about fashion, and she uses the red carpet to create drama and buzz. Angelina doesn’t – I think she’s missing the “fashion diva” gene, bless her heart. While I don’t always care for Angelina’s red carpet style, I do like her “everyday” style. In her everyday life, she seems to favor great pants, pencil skirts, simple blouses, sweaters, and some of the best coats ever. In her everyday life, she usually looks comfortable and classic.

Here are photos of Angelina at events and out throughout the year. Credit: Fame Pictures and WENN.com

Courtney Love’s fashion line will include a ruby stitched into every outfit

Twitter is a strange beast. It gives us access to all sorts of personal celebrity thoughts. Which – to be fair – aren’t all that deep, or often all that personal. It’s not like Twitter somehow lets us into celebrities’ brains without their knowing. Yet many of them seem to feel the compulsive urge not just to share useless, mundane crap, but occasionally interesting – albeit strange – bits here and there.

Example: for the last few weeks it’s been rumored that Courtney Love is starting her own fashion line. This is upsetting for a lot of reasons. First off, anything involving Courtney is inherently upsetting. Never has her name been involved with good news. But secondly is that Courtney is easily the worst dresser in the entire world, regardless of her sobriety or mental state. In fact her wardrobe might improve slightly when she’s high. It certainly can’t get worse.

Before Courtney’s people finally made it official that she’s working on her own line, the news leaked via the natural outlet, Peaches Geldof’s Twitter. Because she just had to update the world about how she was having a sleepover with Courtney, eating chocolate cake, and having a fashion show of her new clothes. Alright…

Well we never! Sounds like the rumours Courtney Love is going to be designing a clothing range might indeed be spot on, according to Peaches Geldof that is. Peaches tweeted last night that she was having a sleepover with Ms Love and said that not only were they eating chocolate cake – but also having a ‘hotel-room fashion show’ of her new designs. (Could Ms Geldof be the face of the range?). So now we can exclusively reveal some details of Ms Love’s ideas for the collection. According to the lady herself some ideas include, ‘cotton ribbed body suits’, ‘cashmere harem pants’ and ‘stitching a ruby into every outfit’. Hmm could be a bit pricey there, Court! We’ll keep you posted with any more updates…

UPDATE: Courtney Love’s people have confirmed her clothing line is official. We can’t wait!

[From Grazia Fashion]

I believe the rule of thumb in fashion is: when in doubt, sew rubies onto something. Whenever I just can’t figure out how to bring an outfit together, I slap a ruby on it’s just one of those quintessential “Bam!” moments. This will not be a disaster.

Courtney’s done a lot of public complaining about how husband Kurt Cobain’s estate has been raided of hundreds of millions of dollars (up to $530 by some estimates), which took Love a shockingly long time to notice – even for someone s out of it as Courtney. What better way to blow whatever cash is left than gem-encrusted fashion?

Courtney Love eating chocolate cake in her ruby-lined cashmere harem pants… what would we do without Twitter to give us such uninhibited access to celebrities personal lives?

Here’s Courtney shopping away t Cross Creek in Malibu on September 16th. Images thanks to Fame.

Miley Cyrus has a new clothing line with Max Azria for Walmart

full_wenn2437507

Miley Cyrus is slowly taking over the world. First she had her television show and became a singing sensation, and you couldn’t walk into Target without being bombarded with everything Miley: Hannah Montana hairdryers, sleeping bags, and televisions. Now, she’s taking over the tween clothing industry – with Max Azria. Yes, that Max Azria. The clothing line will include everything from tops to pants and shoes, with all items under $20. Released this fall, it will be just in time for back-to school shopping and will come just before Miley’s concert tour.

Hot on the heels of Taylor Swift’s Wal-Mart line of l.e.i. sundresses and the Jonas Brothers’ sweatervests, the “Miley Cyrus & Max Azria” label will include tops, pants, graphic tees, shoes and accessories all priced allowance-friendly and under $20. The goods will hit shelves, as well as Walmart.com, just in time for back-to-school shopping in early August—and her tour kickoff a few weeks later.

Wal-Mart is sponsoring the Miley Cyrus Live in Concert tour, launching Sept. 14 in Portland, Ore., and winding up 45 stops later in Miami.

As for those duds…

“We’re really excited,” BCBG Max Azria Group rep Patrick McGregor tells E! News.

“I love creating looks that are all about personal expression and individuality,” the recently reupped Hannah Montana said in a statement. “Collaborating with Max Azria has been an amazing experience, and I’m really excited about launching this line with Wal-Mart. There’s even more to come!”

In case the idea of Cyrus coming together with the designer sounds familiar, the pair shared a segment during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this year that had the starlet and Duane “The Rock” Johnson donning the same red frock. Miley also wore Hervé Léger to the Grammys in February and the London premiere of her movie last month.

“Miley Cyrus is talented and approachable, so working with her sparked a line that is authentic and vibrant,” the demure fashionisto said in a statement.

[from E! Online]

This girl must have absolutely boundless energy. She’s constantly coming out with something new, and while I don’t believe she designed everything in the line, I’m sure she put her own flourishes on it – at the very least, her name will make the items fly off the shelves. Considering the sheer number of Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus products on the market, when she loses popularity she’s going to fall hard.

With Max Azria also working on the clothes, at least we know that the items will be parent-friendly, too – it’s a good thing Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus weren’t in charge of the designs, or they would have ended up with red carpet bikinis for 9-year-olds.

Here’s Miley going out for a bite to eat at the City Wok restaurant in Studio City with a friend on Saturday. Images thanks to WENN.com .
