Willow Smith, 9, has her own stylist customizing “hundreds of pieces” for her

71186ep_smith_b-gr_08

Previously, I’ve given 9-year-old Willow Smith a pass. As the daughter of Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, I thought that Willow was developing her own brand of mini-Gaga-esque hardcore fashion statements, and I disliked how everyone was in a rush to bash her for A) being a kid and experimenting with clothes and B) Not looking like every other little pretty princess girl out there. Willow rocked her style and I thought she was badass, all on her own. Not so much… Us Weekly has an interview with Willow’s stylist. Yes. A 9-year-old has a stylist. Who does she think she is, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon? Not only have The Smiths hired a stylist for Willow (she shares the guy with her big brother Jaden), but the stylist has “customized hundreds of pieces” for her. Um… seriously?

Willow Smith, 9, isn’t just Hollywood royalty and a budding actress…she’s a fashion icon in the making! Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s daughter has been making her mark recently on red carpets and fashion shoots with out-there hairstyles and wardrobe choices that recall Rihanna and other rule-breaking celebs.

“She is young, edgy, and individual,” the little girl’s stylist, Rob Zangardi, tells UsMagazine.com.

Zangardi says he and Mariel Haenn have customized “hundreds of pieces” for Willow and older brother Jaden. And despite her tender age, Willow is “very” involved in picking out her ensembles, Zangardi says.

“We start off the design process sitting down with her and talking about what we wanted to make,” he explains, using magazines and other “creative references” for inspiration.

At the L.A. premiere of Jaden’s The Karate Kid, Willow wore a leopard pony hair jacket and a leopard pants (“during the fitting it just kind of came together,” the stylist says) — and toted a pricey Givenchy bag.

But Willow’s not into designer labels, Zangardi explains. “It wasn’t about the fact that it was a Givenchy bag; it was about the fact that it has gold spikes and star studs on it.”

Willow’s young age, he says, “allows her to have a little bit more fun and take more risks than an adult could. We just made her a 3-finger ring in diamond and gold.”

Any inspiration from her mother Jada, 38? “She’s got her mom’s rock and roll sensibilities,” he says. “The skulls and some of those pieces that Jada likes–like leather motorcycle jackets.”

[From Us Weekly]

She’s nine years old. Let her wear something from Gap Kids. She’ll outgrow it in less than a year anyway. Am I overreacting? I don’t think I am, honestly. I’m all for parents encouraging a kid’s interests, whether it’s football or dolls or math or fashion. BUT there are ways to encourage a nine-year-old’s interest in fashion without hiring a stylist to customize “hundreds of pieces”. Ugh. If she has a stylist at the age of nine, what will she have when she’s 16 years old? When she’s 21 years old? I can’t even.

Rumer Willis’ tiny waist and black tie: unfortunate or chic?

wenn2940677

My first reaction when I saw these photos – from Tuesday’s Darker Side of Green debate panel – was that Rumer Willis needs to get it together. A girl with that kind of large, oblong-shaped face should not wear anything that draws the eye up. Of course, my first reaction whenever I look at photos of Rumer is “This poor girl needs to stop with the red carpets.” But now that I’ve given the photos a thorough look, I have to admit, this might not be Rumer’s worst look.

The haircut is definitely one of her best ever. And she’s very slender, isn’t she? The pencil skirt emphasizes her tiny little waist, so that’s good. The blouse is “eh” – the sleeves are strange, and not in a good, high-fashion way. The blouse is see-through as well, so now I know that Rumer wears black bras under white blouses (a big faux pas for my Southern mom). As for the black tie – well, it’s kind of jaunty and cute.

So why was my immediate reaction to hate on Rumer? I don’t know. This isn’t a bad red carpet appearance. I guess I just wonder why Rumer insists on walking red carpets and being an “actress”. Oh well. You win again, Rumer.

Angelina Jolie’s stylist is horrible at her job
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - JULY 28: Actress Angelina Jolie attends the 'Salt' South Korea premiere at the Time Square on July 28, 2010 in Seoul, South Korea. The film will open on July 29 in South Korea. (Photo by Chung Sung-Jun/Getty Images)

An open letter to Jennifer Rabe, Angelina Jolie’s stylist:

Dear Jennifer,

Are you the devil? Or are you just horrible at your job? I know that Angelina Jolie’s style is very simple, and that the two of you probably argue about getting her to wear colors. But here’s the thing: that’s your job. Your employment is all about making Angelina look good. If you can’t talk her into wearing something other than an endless parade of black, strapless gowns and cocktail dresses, then you need to hand over your resignation and encourage Angelina to hire a stylist who will actually be able to talk her into wearing something other than black columns, trash bags and muu-muus.

Now, I’m not saying you aren’t capable of occasionally giving Angelina a good fashion moment. The black strapless she wore to the 2009 Oscars was one of the best of her black columns. The red Versace Angelina wore for the Moscow premiere of Salt was stunning. But you allow Angelina to get into a comfort zone of glittery sacks and black columns, and that reflects poorly on you. Girl, pull it together.

I’m sorry if I’m being mean. It’s just that these photos of Angelina at the Salt premiere in Seoul, South Korea broke my spirit a little bit. This is the first time Angelina has ever done promotion in South Korea. You know the Korean Brangaloonies were probably really looking forward to seeing her, and there was probably significant disappointment that she didn’t bring it, fashion-wise, to the premiere. Can you even tell the difference between her dress at this premiere, and what you dressed her in for Changeling premiere, or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button premiere, or the LA Salt premiere, or the Inglourious Basterds premiere? All that changed was the material of the black strapless dress. That’s it. It’s sad that you are so terrible at your job, Ms. Rabe.

Sincerely,
Kaiser

Angelina Jolie does a black trash-bag gown in South Korea
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - JULY 28: Actress Angelina Jolie attends the 'Salt' press conference at the Shilla Hotel on July 28, 2010 in Seoul, South Korea. The film will open on July 29 in South Korea. (Photo by Chung Sung-Jun/Getty Images)

Here are some new photos of Angelina Jolie promoting Salt in South Korea. Wearing another black dress, I see. It’s just kind of shapeless and shiny and it looks kind of like a fancy trash bag, right? And yet, it still kind of works. I hate her hair in these photos though. If she’s just going to let her hair be limp, she should have just pulled it back into a bun.

Anyway, Andrew Morton is still leeking random information from his unauthorized biography on Angelina, and I think that Morton might be the source of Star Magazine’s cover story this week. Apparently, Angelina did drugs when she was younger! I know, that’s so shocking. And Star Mag got the photo evidence to prove that she not only did drugs, but that she also liked to accessorize with dog collars and black tape on her nipples. SCANDAL!

star

While promoting Salt, Angelina Jolie has been photographed looking picture perfect in destinations around the globe — whether she’s leading her brood through a Tokyo airport or looking breathtakingly beautiful in a crimson dress at her Moscow movie premiere. However, Star has obtained exclusive scandalous photos that could spell the end of her relationship with Brad Pitt.

In the Aug. 9 issue of Star, on sale today, we have eight never-before-seen graphic photos — taken by a friend who she often did drugs with — that Angelina would rather forget.
In one set, the now-mother of six has black tape over her nipples and a dog leash around her neck. Others show her during a 14-hour heroin-smoking bender.

“The photographs are a startling reminder to Angelina of a period in her life I’m sure she wants to forget, a shady piece of her history that she’s kept hidden away, even from Brad,” celebrity biographer Andrew Morton, author of Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography, tells Star in our cover story.

Pick up the new issue of Star today to see the exclusive pictures from Angelina’s x-rated photo shoot and read our complete story about Angelina’s lurid past — including a contract killer, a psych ward, multiple lovers and endless drugs.

[From Star Magazine]

All this makes me think is that Angelina used to be a hell of a lot of fun to party with. Hey, Angie, remember when we put black tape on our nipples and got wasted? Good times. I don’t know exactly what this proves…? Are we under the impression that Angelina is running for office? Or that she’s denied that she ever did drugs or had wild sex or did crazy sh-t like play with knives and taped up her nipples?

Rachel Zoe: “I think sexiness is better left to the imagination”

wenn2878179

I know, I know. No one likes Rachel Zoe and no one cares about her opinions on anything. Except me! One of my closeted addictions is The Rachel Zoe Project, and I am capable of sitting around and watching like eight hours of a RZP marathon on Bravo whenever they do one. Rachel is crazy, she’s totally OCD, she’s a horrible manager and she’s a pretty horrible person to her family. But the clothes! And Rachel – even though she tends to dress some of her clients like crackheads, I never doubt that Rachel knows about the history of fashion, and that her one great passion in life is fashion. The Rachel Zoe Project’s third season begins next week, and I am so excited! Yay! Anyway, Rachel is already on promotional duties, and she’s given a decent interview to HuffPo about her favorite show (Mad Men), the first time she met Karl Lagerfeld, what she thinks is sexy, and her personal favorite celebrity style: Cameron Diaz:

Stylist Rachel Zoe fielded a range of questions on a conference call on Tuesday and she ended up discussing everything from “Mad Men” to Karl Lagerfeld to fall trends. Zoe admitted that she hardly sits down in front of the television but that if she had to style one series it would, in fact, be the AMC hit. “I’d have to say ‘Mad Men,’” she confessed. “But I wouldn’t change a thing. I think the styling is fantastic….The overall tone of it and the period it was in, it’s a period I’m a fan of.”

One reporter asked Zoe if she ever finds herself starstruck, and Zoe shared the story of when she was introduced to Karl Lagerfeld:

“I was the most starstruck the first time I met Karl and I just kind of–I couldn’t get words out. He was talking to me and I could hear him, but I wasn’t really absorbing anything. I just got so nervous that I became almost paralyzed for a minute. But I’ve met him several times since then and he’s wonderful.”

She added, “I think any of these designers, as someone who loves fashion so much, you think they are an inaccessible geniuses and you meet them and you’re just like, ‘Oh my god, they are that brilliant, they are that amazing,’ and, you know, my dreams haven’t been shattered yet.”

But someone as Zoe views as more relatable–at least style-wise–is actress Cameron Diaz. “She wears great mini dresses. She wears jeans and cute little jackets. She tends to be more casual.” Zoe explained, “I don’t think people should say, ‘Oh, only a celebrity can wear that,’ because it’s not true. I think that with what the fashion world is giving up right now at every price point, with all these fast fashion places and everything, you can pretty much find every trend everywhere within any budget. I think that’s what’s so great about the time we’re in right now.”

So what’s in for fall? According to Zoe, must-haves include a chunky knit sweater, a tailored tuxedo jacket, the perfect leather jacket, a trench coat and over-the-knee boots. And no overt sexiness. “I think that sexiness should be in the subtlety,” Zoe mused. “I don’t think people should wear dresses two sizes too small so that it’s tight and you have that much cleavage in your face. I think sexiness is better left to the imagination.”

[From HuffPo]

So basically, Rachel only is concerned with coats and boots for fall, the rest of the outfit be damned. No, she put a sweater on that list! But what about pants? A skirt? I need to know! And I find myself agreeing with Rachel that dressing with an eye on not being overtly sexy is much better, but in Rachel’s case, I think it’s a necessity. Whenever she tries to show some skin, her bony, anorexic little body freaks everyone out, including the people who work for her and her husband.

Sophia Bush tells Urban Outfitters to go shove their “Eat Less” t-shirt

July 08, 2010 - Westwood, California, U.S. - July 8, 2010 - West Hollywood, California, USA - Actor SOPHIA BUSH arriving to the The Darker Side of Green debate series held at the Palihouse. © Red Carpet Pictures
“One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush has vowed to quit shopping at Urban Outfitters in light of what critics call a pro-anorexia T-Shirt put out by the clothing chain. The shirt, which bears the vague and condescending motto “Eat Less,” has been criticized for what some see as encouraging eating disorders while offering a pithy critique of overweight people. I remember hearing about it over a month ago. As result of the controversy Urban Outfitters no longer offers the “Eat Less” shirt through their website, but it was still in stores as of last month. Somehow Bush heard about it and quoted an article from seven weeks ago on her blog. She penned an open letter to Urban Outfitters vowing never to shop there again:

eatlessLadies! This is OUTRAGEOUS. I hope none of you will stand for being told such a thing, in such a way. Being healthy, eating right, and staying active is one thing. Being told to starve yourselves by a fashion company? Not cool.

UO,

I have been a supporter of your store for many years, but now I’m through.

I am fortunate enough to star on a wonderful TV show called One Tree Hill. I play a fashion designer named Brooke Davis, who started a campaign on the show called “Zero Is Not A Size” and the outpouring of love and gratitude that came my way from girls and women ALL OVER THE WORLD who have body image issues brought me to tears.

To promote starvation? To promote anorexia, which leads to heart disease, bone density loss, and a slew of other health problems, not least of all psychological issues that NEVER go away? Shame on you. I will no longer be shopping at your stores. And I will encourage the tens of thousands of female supporters I have to do the same. I have fought to boycott BP. I never imagined I would also be boycotting affordable fashion.

You should issue a public apology, and make a hefty donation to a women’s organization that supports those stricken with eating disorders. I am sickened that anyone, on any board, in your gigantic company would have voted ‘yes’ on such a thing, let alone enough of you to manufacture an item with such a hurtful message. It’s like handing a suicidal person a loaded gun. You should know better.

I sincerely hope that next time you decide that making fun of serious issues is comedic, or ‘snarky in a cool way,’ that you rethink your decision.

With Sincerity but NO respect,

Sophia Bush

[From Sophia Bush's Blog via Crazy Days and Nights]

Bush has never really been on my radar but I’ll be paying more attention to her now. You know that Urban Outfitters was hoping that by pulling the shirt this controversy would quietly die down. Now that Sophia Bush has brought attention to it there’s little chance of that. She’s right that they should issue an apology and admit that it was a dumb mistake that could have grave repercussions. I guess it’s not surprising that Urban Outfitters would ignorantly think it’s a good idea to tell people to eat less. How else are we going to squeeze into their terrible camel-toe causing jeggings?

Jessica Biel’s translucent red gown & bedhead: stylish or idiotic?

100727x4_biel_b-gr_03

These are photos of a bedraggled-looking Jessica Biel in London on Tuesday, all part of the European promotional tour for The A-Team. Earlier this week, we saw Jessica’s horrible, one-armed puffy beige dress in Madrid, so I’m simply pleased that Jessica is A) Wearing a good color and B) Wearing something that actually shows off her figure in an interesting way, rather than wearing yet another bizarre, asymmetrical sack. As for this Giambattista Valli dress and the look as a whole… well, I must confess, I don’t hate it. I could see this in a fashion editorial, especially with the contrived bedhead hair that Jessica styled for the red carpet.

Now, I know what you’re going to say: “But Kaiser, you hate Jessica Biel! How can you not hate this look?” Well, first of all, I don’t really hate her, I just don’t think she’s all that and a bag of dicks, and secondly, I know that she is capable of the occasional good or great fashion moment. I’ve seen it before, but not that often. Is this fashion moment great? No. But it’s better than many of her fashion moments the past year. True, the dress seems a little too diaphanous, and everyone know knows that Jessica wears black Spanx (not to mention the red matches the carpet EXACTLY). I’m just saying that this is fashion forward and interesting, and Jessica would do well to have more moments like this. Oh, and it wouldn’t kill her to run a brush through that hair. For real.

Angelina Jolie wears a thigh-high slit dress for the Toyko ‘Salt’ premiere
U.S. actress Angelina Jolie waves to fans at the Japan premiere of her movie Salt in Tokyo July 27, 2010. REUTERS/Kim Kyung-Hoon (JAPAN - Tags: ENTERTAINMENT HEADSHOT)

CB pointed out that people are going to compare Angelina Jolie’s Salt Toyko premiere dress to Jennifer Aniston’s Golden Globe dress this year – probably because they’re both black and both had a thigh-high slit. But when Aniston wore that Globe dress, she was accused of copying Angelina Jolie’s 2009 Cannes dress with the thigh-high slit. No word on just who both of them were “copying” before that – I think Nicole Kidman probably did thigh-high slits years before. Plus, it seems like Angelina’s dress (in Toyko) has some kind of faux-turtleneck feature, rather than a buffet of tittays.

Anyway, I’m sorry these photos aren’t the best. I was going to wait until other agencies had them up, but you Brangaloonies are obsessed, so here you go. I like her hair. The dress isn’t horrible either, I just wish the photos were better. I’ll add more as they come in.

PS… is this thing see-through? Is she wearing some kind of bra or are those her nipples?

UPDATE: Okay, here are better photos:

Angelina Jolie: Brad is a “wonderful father & he makes it all possible”

angelina_jolie_01_wenn2940032

Question: Just how cold is it in Tokyo this time of year? Because looking at these photos of Angelina Jolie at a photo call for Salt in Toyko is making me wonder just how jacked the Japanese keep their air conditioning. I just looked it up – Toyko is the same temperature as Virginia today. What the hell, Jolie? Are you trying to give yourself heatstroke? Anyway, beyond the concerns I have about her black pants and baggy black sweater, I have to admit, it’s a good outfit, and one I wish I owned (for winter). Angelina is looking a bit tired though – jet-lagged probably. I don’t know who the other chick is – I don’t remember her in Salt.

Anyway, some bits and pieces of Jolie news. First off, Angelina now has a Twitter account! F-ck me, if Angelina ever starts tweeting, I might have to get an account just so I can follow her.

Yes, it’s true! Angelina Jolie joined Twitter. But it turns out the ‘Salt’ actress isn’t planning on Tweeting anytime soon. In fact, she’s locked her account and no followers and isn’t following anyone. Basically, she just joined Twitter to get ahold of her name – but she might tweet at some point!

Angelina Jolie has joined Twitter! But you won’t hear any 140-character musings from the actress, 35. She’s locked her account; she has no followers and isn’t following anyone.

“Jolie had her people obtain the account for her so no one else could have that username,” a source tells UsMagazine.com. “There was actually someone else using @AngelinaJolie but Angelina requested the account suspended and took it over.”

The insider adds that the Salt star might become active on the microblogging site “later this year.”

So what would she write about?

“If she uses it, it will be for charity-related items or sharing links,” says the source.

[From Us Weekly]

Angelina’s tweets would be gold. I imagine stuff like “Emprs. Z talks about world domination, LOL” and “Shiloh insists on camo pants, #Montenegro”.

While In Japan, Angelina also did a press conference, but she got asked the same basic questions and answered the same basic ways:

Actress Angelina Jolie, in Tokyo for the weekend opening of action thriller “Salt,” brushed off rumors about her shaky relations with Brad Pitt.

“He was just a wonderful father,” she said Tuesday of Pitt, during work on the film, in which she plays a tough spy. He often brought the children to the set, she recalled.

“They played with fake blood, and they found mommy very strange in her different hair,” she said.

Pitt and Jolie have been partners since they began a relationship while working on the 2005 film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” They are raising six children. Last week, Pitt and Jolie accepted undisclosed damages in London’s High Court to settle a privacy claim against a British tabloid that had reported in January that they were planning to split.

Asked about her ability to work and maintain a happy family, Jolie told reporters at a Tokyo hotel: “Brad is the word that makes it possible.”

Jolie, who arrived Monday, brought four of the children along on the Japan trip. They have already spent some time shopping for toys inspired by Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki’s animation characters Ponyo and Totoro, she said.

Jolie, 35, acknowledged she once surprised her 8-year-old son Maddox with her disguise as a male naval officer in “Salt.” He came into the room and reluctantly shook hands with the person he didn’t know was his mother.

“And I said, ‘Honey, it’s mommy,’” Jolie said.

“I think I freaked him out,” she said with a laugh, adding that he then watched her peel off her fake ears, hands and nose.

“I play these roles, but I’m always in every minute their mom first,” she said. “I’m a bit of a goofy. I’m funny at home, I think.”

Her children aren’t going to be seeing the movie, though.

“I think it’s very hard for them to see someone trying to kill their mom, even if she wins,” she said.

[From The Associated Press]

Fascinating. Judgy moms will be all over her about the fake blood though. Also, one last thing – even more “leaks” are coming out from Andrew Morton’s unauthorized biography of Angelina, and they’re just… ugh. USA Today got a “leak” all about how Angelina always wanted to settle down with Johnny Depp, Brad or… Willem Dafoe?!? And I finally read Us Weekly’s cover story from last week, and there are no words for how cheesy this mess is. Like, Angelina gets blamed for everything, always. Nothing is ever anyone else’s fault. No one is personally responsible for their actions when Angelina is around, ever. Whatever.

Jessica Biel’s puffy one-armed dress: tragic or cute?

a_team_madrid_photocall_19_wenn2939283

Here are Jessica Biel and Bradley Cooper promoting The A-Team in Madrid on Sunday. Biel really can’t dress for sh-t, can she? I don’t even see how this dress would have been cute on the rack. It’s just hideous from every angle. Why would you want a puffy, one-armed bridesmaid looking cocktail dress… in this neutral beige color? It does absolutely nothing for Biel and her extreme beauty. Speaking of how beautiful Jessica is (rolling eyes), she’s once again making her looks a talking point. Previously, Jessica has pontificated on how her overwhelming gorgeousness has been a deterrent in her career. In this interview, however, Jessica tries to play the “People shouldn’t talk about how gorgeous I am even though I just brought it up” game:

Jessica Biel feels uncomfortable when people praise her looks. The model-turned-actress is one of Hollywood’s top pin-ups, and regularly features on lists of the world’s most beautiful women. Modest Jessica says she does find compliments flattering, but the movie star insists there are many women out of the public eye who are more attractive than her.

“I think you just kind of go with it more than anything else, because it’s incredibly flattering to have that said about you. But come on, let’s get serious, there are a lot of people around the world that we don’t know about who are probably incredibly beautiful, so it just feels like: ‘Okay, cool. Thanks, I appreciate it,” she told the British edition of OK! magazine.

Jessica went on to insist her beauty comes at a price, as she admitted to following a dull diet in order to maintain her slim figure. Despite being a fan of delicious food, the actress moaned that she needs to be strict on herself to look good.

“I love food, love it. But I’m really disciplined and boring most of the time. It’s so true!” she lamented.

Jessica Biel also says criticism can be ‘toxic’ and she tries to stay away from negativity.

‘If you let in, what people say about you and how people think about you, it’s just toxic. It’s just horrible to try to please a bunch of people that you’ve never met before, who want to just make assumptions about your life and your career.”

Well, at least she’s trying to show a bit more grace? I guess. Someone must have told her, “Stop talking about how gorgeous you are, for f-ck’s sake.” It’s especially strange because she has such sketchy style, you know? Not that how she dresses really has anything to do with her beauty, but she dresses like she thinks she can pull anything off, and she just can’t. Very few women can. It’s like… Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett, and nobody else.

By the way, did anyone see Jessica’s commercial for Revlon’s “Just Bitten” lipstick? It’s 90 seconds and directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow, and it’s hilarious. Yes, Jessica looks pretty, but if she can’t even act her way through a 90-second commercial, she’s got bigger problems than her extreme beauty.
