Salma Hayek & François-Henri Pinault are still going strong after paternity scandal

fp_7736880_hayekpinault_dayout_excl_fp7_04_26

These are some new photos of Salma Hayek and her billionaire husband François-Henri Pinault out and about in LA over the weekend. According to Fame Pictures, they played tennis with some friends, then did some shopping at Whole Foods. While I don’t find Pinault to be unattractive, I just don’t think Salma and Pinault go together aesthetically, and it’s pretty obvious that “Oh yeah, I bet he’s rich. Really rich.” Also: Salma plays tennis?!?! With those boobs?? Dear God. THAT is how she landed a billionaire husband.

You know how else she landed a billionaire? By being very forgiving, and looking the other way when it suits her. Like, Salma has been photographed solo several times over the past month, but this is (I think) the first time Salma and Francois-Henri have made a public appearance together since the Linda Evangelista thing blew up all over the place. A few months ago, it was revealed that Linda’s four-year-old son Augie was actually fathered by Pinault. The revelation came about because Linda has taken the whole mess to the French courts, where she’s trying to get Pinault to pay child support for little Augie. Unfortunately, bitch is kind of crazy, and she’s asking for $46,000 a month from Pinault. I still think that’s a crazy amount, but most of you were like, “Well, that’s what Valentina is getting.” Still, be reasonable, please. Anyway, there’s a totally random and probably untrue report about how Salma is really pissed off about this Linda situation:

Two of the world’s most beautiful women are at each other’s throats in a Hollywood love triangle turned nasty. An Oscar-nominated movie star with an adorable young daughter and a billionaire husband, Salma Hayek thought she was living the dream. That is, until five weeks ago, when her marriage to fashion mogul Francois-Henri Pinault was turned upside down by the revelation he had fathered a love child with supermodel Linda Evangelista.

Friends say Salma, 44, was initially devastated by the news. But now that Linda, 46, has turned such a private matter into a public scandal by taking the Frenchman to court, demanding a staggering $46,000 a month in child support, the Mexican beauty is incandescent with rage.

A close friend says, “Salma is absolutely livid. The money Linda is asking for is absolutely crazy – it is clearly just Linda’s way of sticking the knife in because Francois-Henri chose Salma over her. Salma is so angry, she wants to scratch Linda’s eyes out!”

Linda claims she needs almost $600,000 a year to pay for 24-hour nannies, armed chauffeurs and other staff she and her four-year-old son Augustin cannot do without. If Linda, who’s worth more than $8 million, is successful, it will be one of the world’s most expensive child-support settlements – and Francois-Henri, who is worth an estimated $11.5 billion, is fighting the pay-out to the end.

[From The Morung Express]

So Salma went from shock that her husband fathered a child around the same time that he was romancing her (Salma), and she just blames Linda? Doubtful. Of course, I tend to think that Salma has known about Linda for a while, so I don’t think there was much “shock” to the paternity going public.

Linda Evangelista asks for $46K a month in child support from Salma Hayek’s husband

wenn5113358

Last month, tabloids revealed something that many of you had assumed for a while: that the father of Linda Evangelista’s 4-year-old son Augustin is Francois-Henri Pinault, best known in American circles as “Salma Hayek’s French billionaire husband”. Linda had never publicly revealed her son’s paternity, and it’s believed that Pinault fathered Augustin while he and Salma were “on a break”. At least, that’s the official version that Salma Hayek wants us to know. Anyway, as it turns out, Francois-Henri had barely given Linda any child support for little Augustin, and so Linda is in the process of taking Pinault to court, which is how this scandal went public. Now the New York Post reveals that Linda’s child support negotiations have taken an odd turn: Linda wants $46,000 a month in child support. Er…

It’s not cheap being a supermodel mommy! Glamorous cover girl Linda Evangelista came to Manhattan Family Court yesterday — and slapped her deadbeat billionaire French baby-daddy with a $46,000-a-month support request.

“That would probably be the largest support order in the history of the Family Court,” noted Support Magistrate Matthew Troy, who is expected to decide on an amount when the parties return to Family Court next month.

The demure but towering Evangelista, still stunning at 46, is demanding the cash from Francois-Henri Pinault — CEO of the Paris-based luxury conglomerate that owns Gucci, Yves St. Laurent and Bottega Veneta — who is the father of her 4 year old, Augustin James, to whom he has not paid a penny since the boy’s birth.

Pinault is married to Salma Hayek, with whom he has another child of nearly identical age — 3-year-old Valentina. While Pinault lavishes Valentina with luxuries — he even spends $50,000 a month for a $12 million Los Angeles estate held in trust in the girl’s name — Evangelista has been saddled with the entire cost of caring for and protecting little Augie, complained the model’s lawyer, William Beslow.

“He’s just been sitting back, paying zero,” Beslow told the magistrate yesterday.

The majority of the monthly sum Evangelista is requesting would cover the round-the-clock nannies and gun-toting drivers that are simply the due of any son of a single mom and an overseas billionaire, her lawyer argued yesterday. But Pinault, whose family is worth an estimated $11.5 billion, is fighting the expenditures tooth and nail.

During a lengthy deposition last Tuesday, Pinault’s lawyer grilled her on just why she needs a team of heat-packing drivers who are former police detectives — at a whopping cost of $175,000 a year.

Evangelista also wants $80,000 a year for a nanny, Pinault lawyer David Aaronson complained to the judge yesterday.

“She testified that she wants to have a 24-hour nanny because she does not want to be alone with the child . . . Miss Evangelista, you should understand, has a worth of more than $8 million, and she earned, last year, $1.8 million.”

The judge immediately scratched out the $7,500 Evangelista was seeking for monthly “vacation” expenses, but ultimately seemed very sympathetic to the security and nanny costs, noting that these may simply be prudent expenditures for raising a high-profile, high-risk Manhattan scion.

“These are the extraordinary expenses that may be a part of the child’s life,” the judge said. “And if there is a trial [in the support case] with a lot of publicity, there will probably be a need for two detectives to drive this kid around.”

It’s understandable, too, for Evangelista to want another adult — a nanny — to be on hand given her security concerns and travel requirements of her job, the judge said.

“How many hours a week do you work?” the judge asked the model at one point.

“On days when I do not work, I am working on my image,” Evangelista answered, her voice soft, and tinged with defensiveness. “I have to hit the gym. I have beauty appointments. I have to work toward my next job and maintaining my image,” she said, “just like an athlete.”

“When I work, it can be a 16-hour day,” she added. Both lawyers and Evangelista declined comment after the proceeding.

[From The New York Post]

My first thought was that Linda isn’t doing much these days, and hasn’t done much for the past decade, but that was before I knew that she was still working 16-hour days (doing God knows what) and “working on her image.” I too can understand wanting security and a nanny and such, but $46,000 a month does sound extreme, to put it mildly. To me, the funniest part is that she was asking for $7500 a month – in vacation expenses. A MONTH. Dear God, I’ve always sort of liked Linda, but she’s gotten pretty crazy, right? I guess it’s to be expected, though. You can’t get knocked up be a billionaire without this kind of junk going down. *plotting*

Linda Evangelista’s deadbeat baby-daddy is Salma Hayek’s billionaire husband

wenn5139986

This feels like one of those stories where we have to break out our ten-year calendars and our calculators to make sense of. According to the NY Post, Linda Evangelista has a four-year-old son. That alone surprised me – I remembered her being pregnant, vaguely, a few years ago, but was it really four-to-five years ago? And she had a boy? And she never revealed the paternity? So now that we’re all on the same page: Linda has a four-year-old son, and she’s never told anybody who his father is. Now the NY Post says that the dad is Francois Henri Pinault, best known as Salma Hayek’s baby-daddy/husband. SCANDAL?!? Eh. The way the baby daddy drama is described, it sounds like Pinault fathered Linda’s baby when he and Salma were split up (another event I have no memory of).

It’s a baby mystery no more. The father of supermodel Linda Evangelista’s 4-year-old boy is none other than billionaire Frenchman Francois-Henri Pinault — who just happens to be the husband of actress Salma Hayek, The Post has learned.

Despite Evangelista’s rep denying Pinault’s paternity when confronted with it by The Post’s Page Six back in October 2007, the Victoria’s Secret stunner came to court yesterday in hopes of hashing out a support agreement with Pinault, the father of the boy, Augustin James.

The Manhattan magistrate’s court action confirms that the two-timing Pinault — CEO of the $28 billion conglomerate that owns Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Yves St. Laurent — is the daddy to two 4-year-olds by different world-famous beauties.

One is Valentina, acknowledged and cared for by her parents, Pinault and Hayek, who jet between France, New York and LA. The other is Evangelista’s boy, unacknowledged by both the mogul and his actress wife, who has repeatedly insisted in interviews that Pinault has only three children — Valentina and two from his previous marriage to his first wife.

Evangelista, 46, herself has zealously guarded the love child’s paternity, even lying to protect Pinault. A year after “Augie’s” birth, she was claiming in interviews that the father was “a New York architect.”

He rep at DNA Model Management, Didier Fernandez, called the Pinault paternity rumor “untrue” when confronted with it by Page Six in 2007.

Yesterday was the model’s third or fourth trip to Family Court, and no agreement was reached, making a fall support trial looking likely, according to a court source.

Evangelista left glumly without commenting to a reporter. Pinault, 49, was a no-show, but that was due to a misunderstanding, said his lawyer, David Aronson.

“We had understood that it was to be a brief, telephone conference, to bring Magistrate Troy up to date on what the status was,” Aronson told The Post when asked about the court date yesterday.

Evangelista’s lawyer, William Beslow, had no comment Evangelista and Pinault conceived their boy in early 2006, when Pinault was reportedly separated from then-gal pal Hayek, whom he wed in 2009.

[From The New York Post]

So not only is Pinault the father but he’s also a deadbeat dad? For God’s sake, he’s a BILLIONAIRE. And if Linda’s son was truly conceived during a lull in Pinault and Hayek’s relationship, why not simply own up to it? Unless the boy was conceived while Salma and Francois were actually together (more likely) and Francois has been lying to Salma all of this time (most likely)? Ugh.

It also sounds like Linda has really tried to keep all of this private too. She’s so odd, but in retrospect, I’m happy that she was able to carry a baby to term. I remember that she had a very difficult miscarriage years ago, when she was with some other dude.

Salma Hayek changed to her married name per her daughter’s request

salmacover

Salma Hayek is at the Cannes Film Festival, living it up and partying, showing up to various red carpets decked out in gowns and jewels and wearing her favorite accessory, her billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault. There’s even buzz about Salma making some kind of career-comeback, but we’ll see. Meanwhile, Salma is the June cover girl for InStyle Magazine, and in the interview she spoke about how her daughter Valentina asked her to change her name to Pinault, and how Valentina is the reason Salma won’t be going into space anytime soon:

The Mexican beauty welcomed a daughter, Valentina, with Francois-Henri Pinault in September 2007, and married the French fashion executive 17 months later. But the tot was becoming curious as to why her parents didn’t share the same last name – and the innocent question convinced her mum to make the switch.

The actress tells U.S. magazine InStyle, “It was Valentina’s request. I didn’t think about it until she brought it up. We were shooting a film, and she saw my chair with my name on it. She says, ‘What does it say there?’ And I said, ‘Salma Hayek.’ And she said, ‘What about Pinault? Why not Pinault?’ Because people here (in France) say ‘Madame Pinault.’”

And Hayek is thrilled to show her solidarity with her family as she continues her new life in France.

She explains, “I said to myself, ‘This is who I am now. I’m starting a whole new life. I’ve never been happier. Why shouldn’t I share it with the people who have been supporting me my whole career, who have been with me since the beginning?’

“I’m a private person, but I should let them in on the fact that I’m a different person, and a better person. It’s a new life.”

The actress insists she’s “not much” of a risk-taker since she welcomed daughter Valentina in September 2007, with her husband, French fashion executive Francois-Henri Pinault. And she’s given up many dangerous thrill-seeking adventures – including a once-in-a-lifetime chance to orbit the planet with the Virgin boss’ spaceliner, due to launch next year.

She tells U.S. magazine InStyle, “I love scuba diving and used to dive where the sharks were, and now? No more sharks. Everything became about the baby. You are in second position, or third… My dream was to go into space. I reserved my place with the Virgin (Galactic) expedition. And then I got pregnant. And now I’m a mother. So I’m not going to go.”

[From Hollywood.com and The Toronto Sun]

CB generally thinks Salma is full of sh-t and full of herself, but I’ve always had a haphazard love for Salma. Yes, she’s full of herself, but she seems like a throwback to the movie stars of the 1940s and 1950s, the goddesses who had reason to be full of themselves. Personally, I don’t buy that Valentina – at the age of 2 years old, if that – would be all “Mommy, why didn’t you take your husband’s last name?” Like she’s a little Miss Manners or something. I think Salma took the Pinault name because she married a f-cking billionaire and why the f-ck not?

Here are some assorted photos of Salma at Cannes:

Salma Hayek calls multi-million dollar weddings “ridiculous”

fp_1977549_ang_mccartney_ar
Salma Hayek has denied reports that she’s planning a multi-million follow-up wedding to her Valentine’s Day civil ceremony with billionaire French businessman François-Henri Pinault. Hayek told People that lavish weddings aren’t her style and called it “ridiculous” to spend millions on a wedding celebration:

“I think a wedding is about love, friends, family and fun,” Hayek, 42, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I think spending millions of dollars on a wedding is ridiculous and it has never been my dream. I would never do that.”

The actress-producer and Pinault, 46, the CEO of luxury-goods company PPR welcomed daughter Valentina Paloma in September 2007.

[From People]

Earlier this month, Hayek’s husband was trapped in his car for about an hour by employees protesting 1,2000 job cuts at his firm. He was saved by police who dispersed the protesters, allowing him to leave. Pinault is the CEO of the firm that owns Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. The recession could be part of the reason why Hayek is so adamant about not having a showy wedding despite her husband’s massive wealth along with her no doubt considerable fortune.

I had a small wedding in order to save money. The lavish weddings on the scale I’ve witnessed, which would have run in the tens of thousands as opposed to millions, weren’t for me or my husband. It’s up to the bride and groom, though, and I’ve really enjoyed myself at some big weddings of friends and family. I wonder whose weddings Hayek was indirectly calling ridiculous. The first bride who comes to mind is Eva Longoria Parker with her Paris wedding and all the trappings in 2007, which People estimated ran about $1.5 million.

According to AOL, the average cost of a wedding in the US is $26,800. They also have a feature on the most expensive celebrity weddings, which includes Liza Minnelli and David Gest’s $3.5 million wedding, Paul McCartney and Heather Mills’ $3 million nuptials, TomKat’s $2 million Italian affair, Christina Aguilera’s $2 million wedding, and Donald Trump and Melania Knauss $1 million NY wedding. Interesting that only a third of these couples are still together, which makes you wonder how long the rest of them will last. I’ve heard some people claim that there’s an inverse relationship between the cost of the wedding and the length of the relationship, but it seems like the people who splurge on their weddings have a 50/50 chance like everyone else.

Salma Hayek marries on-again fiance in Valentine’s civil ceremony

Salma Hayek and her fiance Francois-Henri Pinault
Salma Hayek and the father of her baby, billionaire François-Henri Pinault, announced last summer that they were ending their engagement. They’ve been seen out together since, but Pinault was also photographed making out with another woman late last summer and it was thought that they were remaining friendly for the sake of their daughter, Valentina Paloma, one and a half.

Salma told David Letterman during an appearance on the Late Show in mid January that she didn’t know when she would marry Pinault, and was pretty vague about it. When asked “Is there going to be a wedding?” she answered “I don’t know, maybe, but then again, maybe not.”

After a whirlwind on-again romance, Pinault and Hayek have unexpectedly tied the knot. The two were married on Valentine’s Day in Paris.

Salma Hayek has married French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, Monday’s online edition of the weekly French newsmagazine Le Point reports.

Hayek, 42, and Pinault, 46, were married on Saturday – St. Valentine’s Day – in the City Hall of the Sixth Arrondissement in central Paris, according to the publication, which is owned by the Pinault family.

Sixth Arrondissement Mayor Jean-Pierre Lecoq subsequently confirmed the report to the French news agency Agence France-Presse.

There had been recent reports that the couple – whose daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, was born in Los Angeles in September 2007 – had reunited after they had called off their marital engagement in July 2008.

The two had originally announced their engagement in March 2007.

Friends of the couple tell PEOPLE that a Paris trip in September (when Hayek attended the Balenciaga fashion show) and another in November helped rekindle the pair’s relationship. Adds a source, they were “very evidently in love with each other, very affectionate in public” together at the Dubai Film Festival in December.

Only last week, Hayek, who’s been appearing on NBC’s 30 Rock, told TV host Rachael Ray that when she kisses Alec Baldwin on the show, “I keep telling Francois, ‘I imagine I was kissing you.’ ”

Pinault is CEO of the luxury giant PPR and the son of one of France’s richest men, Francois Pinault, whose fortune last year was estimated to be $16.9 billion by Forbes magazine.

[From People]

It sounds a little hasty, but if they’re happy good for them. Hopefully it will last for them.

Is this the woman who broke up Salma Hayek’s relationship?

Salma Hayek’s very recent ex, billionaire François-Henri Pinault, 46, was seen making out with a new girlfriend on his yacht in Tuscany. Pinault and a topless Virginie Couperie, described as an “equestrian,” were photographed kissing and playfully laying about on the beach and on his boat. They looked very much in love. Pinault is the father of Hayek’s 11 month-old daughter and was engaged to the 41 year-old actress before their split was announced last month.

Exclusive…Only a month after the end of the engagement between actress Salma Hayek and billionaire heir François-Henri Pinault, the French businessman enjoys a saucy holiday romp in Tuscany with new love interest, equestrian Virginie Couperie. Despite the high-profile public breakup with Hayek, who is currently caring for Pinault’s 11-month-old daughter Valentina Paloma in LA, Pinault appears carefree and unapologetic about his scandalous tryst. The billionaire playboy and his horse-loving lady indulge in a sun-splashed day on his yacht, complete with very hands-on public displays of affection. The two playfully canoodled and giggled like lovesick teenagers, before heading into town for lunch. While Couperie seemed uncomfortable at the sight of cameras, Pinault’s goofy smile confirmed his guilt-free attitude about the sexy romp, while ex Salma Hayek works hard to be a devoted mother in LA in his absence.

[From Fame Pictures photo description]

I tried to find out more about this woman and I think I found a french-language Wikipedia article that says she was married to a singer named Julien Clerc in 1984 and that they have two children together, a 23 year-old girl named Vanila and an 11 year-old son, Barnabe. There wasn’t a divorce date that I could find, but it says he had a baby with his new girlfriend earlier this year. He is also said to be a grandfather so that means that this woman that’s lounging around Italy with Salma Hayek’s ex is a grandmother herself.

Even if Salma and her baby’s father were broken up before he hooked up with this horse-riding grandma it’s got to be annoying to see him kissing another woman so soon after they announced their split. This guy may not be the best looking, but he runs the parent company that owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent – he’s loaded. He also apparently has plenty of time to lounge around and enjoy his vast wealth.

Salma Hayek splits with fiancé

Salma Hayek split with her fiancé and father of her baby daughter, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault. The two met in Venice in May of 2006 and announced their engagement and Salma’s pregnancy in March of 2007. Hayek has long said she doesn’t need marriage, and even though the two were engaged, she made many conflicting statements that made it sound like she wasn’t certain if she wanted to ever formally marrying Pinault. Hayek issued a statement through her rep, which of course gave next to no details.

Salma Hayek and French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault — the father of her daughter Valentina — have called off their engagement.

“We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled,” Hayek’s rep said in a statement to USA Today. “There will be no further comment.”

Hayek, 41, told the April issue of Glamour that she didn’t feel the “need” to get married. “Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not,” she said. “You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children — we have all those things,” Hayek added. “Some people need the commitment. Maybe we’ll just make the party!”

[From Us Magazine]

The pair definitely had an unusual dating strategy. They had a long distance relationship, which generally is hard on most couples. Though most couples are only able to afford to drive ten hours once a month or something, whereas billionaire Pinault could probably afford to charter his own time machine and portal to wherever Salma was.

Salma told Oprah that living far apart kept their relationship fresh.

When Salma got engaged to French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, she says they initially had every intention of getting married after a traditional engagement. “…After I got pregnant, I don’t know why, [but] the [ceremony] part of it is not necessary because we have such a huge commitment for each other. I don’t know that we have to go through the rituals.”

Salma and Francois-Henri have a unique relationship—they are based in different cities and spend most time separated by an ocean. Still, Salma says they see each other often. “Every time he comes, it’s an event. And every time I go, it’s the same and it’s so romantic and it’s so exciting. And the time we spend together, it’s 100 percent quality time. And then the time we’re not together, I have 100 percent quality time to my baby, to myself, to my career,” she says. “So for us, it works. Now, it’s not an open marriage. Nobody think this is too modern and don’t get the wrong idea—the level of commitment is exactly the same.”

[From Oprah]

Unfortunately it sounds like it didn’t work for them in the end. While it’s sad, from what she’s said in the past it sounds like Salma will be fine. The relationship obviously meant a lot to her but wasn’t her whole world. Hopefully everybody involved will be able to pick up and move on peacefully.
