As far as celebrity baby names go, Nahla Ariela is not bad. It does have a Disney ring to it, probably due to the Little Mermaid-sounding middle name. I’ve never heard the name Nahla before and it sounds kind of neutral to me for a little girl’s name, but maybe I just need to get used to it.

According to Babynology, it’s a Muslim name that means “a drink of water.”

Nahla was born at 10:17 am on Sunday morning. She is the first child for Oscar-winning actress Halle, 41, and her boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, 32.

Halle and Gabriel are in a private birthing suite at Cedars Sinai with their baby. They are all said to be doing well and are expected to leave the hospital sometime this week.

Pregnant Halle Berry and the father of her baby, Gabriel Aubry, haven’t been seen out together in some time. Star Magazine reports that it’s because they’re not even living on the same coast. Gabriel is all the way over in NY trying to promote his modeling career while Halle is saying in Malibu. Gabriel owns a restaurant in NY and presumably has to keep track of the business there along with his job requiring him to stay on the East coast.

Star says he’s all too willing to keep his distance because he wants to marry the mother of his baby who refuses to tie the knot and is admittedly marriage-averse after two failed attempts. They could be jumping to conclusions, and hopefully these two will be able to make it work and stay in the same place once the baby comes:

[Halle's] boyfriend of two years, and the father of her unborn child, Gabriel Aubry, has been pushing to tie the know, and with Halle dragging her feet, it’s only driving him away.

And far! A source close to Halle confirms to Star that Gabriel has been living in Manhattan, while Halle is at her home, 3,000 miles away, in Malibu. And while the couple was spotted shopping for furniture together in LA on January 7, it was their first public outing in more than two months…

Gabriel, a model who also owns a Cuban restaurant in NYC, “still wants to work and build a successful career for himself,” says the source. “It really pulls him away from Halle. He seems to have no firm plans to move west, and it kills her.”

The article then says that Gabriel doesn’t plan to leave Halle though, and that he hopes to be a good father to his child. It seems to be a good sign that these two were seen out shopping for furniture as it might mean that they’re trying to set up house for their child. Halle is reportedly due on February 14.

There was a story last week that five month’s pregnant Halle Berry suspected her longterm boyfriend and the father of her baby, model Gabriel Aubrey, of cheating on her. It was mentioned as an aside in a longer article about how Halle was planning on raising her baby alone. She is said to want to stay in LA while Gabriel wants to live in New York for his career:

The plan is for Halle to remain in California while Gabriel will live in New York, according to [an] insider.

“Halle says Gabriel is helping her in every way possible with the pregnant, but she confided that she thinks he is seeing somebody. She also divulged that Gabriel doesn’t want money from her – the baby was produced out of love…”

A rep for Halle denies that the star is planning to raise her baby alone.

Halle has made no secret of the fact that she has soured on marriage after two failed attempts. She has vowed never to get married again, and recently told Oprah that it’s not necessary for her to have a commitment.

If there was any trouble between Halle and Gabriel she seems to be trying to patch it up. There’s news that she’s purchased an expensive car for her younger lover. And contrary to the National Enquirer’s account, Star Magazine says that Gabriel really wants to marry Halle and that she’s the one who doesn’t want the legal commitment, not him:

Gabriel has wanted to marry Halle since they found out she was expecting, says an insider, but Halle’s vowed never to wed again. The 41-year-old actress bough Gabriel, 31, the car as a way of showing she loves him without a ring. Her baby’s daddy received a fully loaded S600 sedan that lists for more than $150,000.

Star’s version of the story, that Gabriel wants to get married and Halle doesn’t, sounds more likely to me. At least it’s based on the actual detail that she bought him a car. There was a story back before Halle got pregnant that she took Gabriel to Restoration Hardwear and made him pick up a bunch of stuff and pay with his own credit card. She’s the earner in the relationship, though, and it sounds like she doesn’t mind covering the tab when it really counts.

I’ve never been pregnant, so I don’t totally understand all the hormones that go into it – but I was kinda surprised to hear Halle Berry tell Oprah that she already wants another baby. You haven’t even popped the first one out girl! You’re three months pregnant, aren’t you still throwing up and craving tacos? I’m so confused. I had a friend who’s pregnancy mantra was something about wanting to “evict her little passenger” – and I gotta tell you, that makes a lot of sense to me. I understand wanting more eventually – but Halle must really be overdosing on the oxytocin if she’s already ramping up for more pregnancy.

And how does Berry know all about being a mom? From acting. I’m not sure that’s the greatest indication of motherhood, but then again if never been an actress or a mother, so what the hell do I know.

“She said playing a mother in her latest movie, ‘Things We Lost in the Fire,’ helped convince her that motherhood was for her. ‘I think it validated that I was meant to be a mother because every day I dealt with the character as a mother and thinking as a mother,’ Berry said. ‘It let me know that I must be a mother.’”

Again, I’m not a mother, but something tells me it may be a little different when no one calls “cut” and someone from craft services doesn’t come over and offer Halle a plate of pickles, mustard, and Cheetos. [That joke was funny because women crave weird things when they’re pregnant. Alright that joke wasn’t funny]. Halle says she and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry don’t have any plans to marry. She seems a little jaded after her last two crappy marriages, not that I blame her.

“Berry said she and Aubry don’t plan to marry, but feel fully committed to each other. ‘I feel more married, in a way, than I ever have in two marriages before,’ she said. ‘He really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and circumstance and the ceremony.’ But Berry said there is something she and Aubry are sure to do: try to have another child. ‘There’s just one right now,’ she said. ‘But we’re hoping, right after this one, to do it again.’”

Sometimes you read something in the news that absolutely turns your stomach, and death threats issued to an unborn baby would have to be one of those things.

Halle Berry has received racist death threats to her unborn baby.

The Oscar-winning beauty – who recently announced she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry – has been forced to hire security guards after allegedly receiving several disturbing letters from an anonymous writer.

One note warned she and her child would be “cut into hundreds of pieces”.

A source close to the actress – who has a white father and an African-American mother – told Britain’s Daily Mirror: “Halle does not normally use security but she has taken on a couple of guys to make sure.”

On a lighter note, Halle is only four months pregnant, and already she has partner Gabriel Aubry pampering her feet and satisfying her cravings.

The 32-year-old model told People magazine: “She does crave pickles. And any bread. Doesn’t matter, as long as it’s salt and pickles.”

He revealed: “She loves foot massages. I do all of that stuff.”

Halle has also filmed an appearance on Oprah, where she shows off her baby bump, and talks about taking 33 pregnancy tests. She says she knew she was pregnant, but they kept coming up negative. Did she just take 32, and then the 33rd came up positive and she was like ‘yay!’ I would have just kept taking them until they came back negative again. Or gone and got a doctor to do a blood test, but then I don’t have paparazzi taking my picture every time I leave a doctor’s office and speculating on the size of my belly.

Halle also told Oprah that she’d love to have another baby as soon as possible after she has her current baby, and that she doesn’t plan on finding out the gender of her baby until he or she is born. It doesn’t matter whether the baby is a boy or a girl, it is going to be sooooo cute.

Why have best dressed men lists? Even the most stylish man just tends to walk around in either a tuxedo or a t-shirt. There’s not much complicated about men’s dressing, why not have best punk rocker style for say, Pete Wentz? Or Best male use of make up, which would probably also be won by Pete Wentz.

I’m also confused about the criteria: Avril Lavinge’s lace dress and combat boots is a style no-no, but Lily Allen’s signature look is a dress and hi-top sneakers (Lily is mentioned in a British best dressed section of the magazine). Aren’t these just different versions of the same look? And none of the women on the best dressed list are cleavage shy, but it’s not okay for Hilary Clinton to show off her assets?

“Access Hollywood” has confirmed that Halle Berry is expecting her first child with her boyfriend of two years, model Gabriel Aubry. Halle has talked quite frequently about her desire to have a baby… though the pretty but empty seeming Aubry didn’t exactly appear to be the guy Halle would choose to settle down with. Maybe she won’t, and is just using him for his ideal DNA or something. Halle is three months along, and is expecting her baby on February 14th.

“Halle Berry is pregnant with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry’s baby, the 41-year-old actress confirmed to ‘Access Hollywood’s’ Nancy O’Dell in an e-mail on Tuesday. ‘Yes, I am three months pregnant! Gabriel and I are beyond excited, and I’ve waited a long time for this moment in life. Now the next seven months will be the longest of my life!’ she wrote to Nancy. ‘… You heard it from ME first!’

According to In Touch Weekly, Berry is due on Valentine’s Day. The magazine also reports that Berry will be carefully monitored during the pregnancy, not only because of her age but also because she is a diabetic. She reportedly is being treated by a doctor who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. An insider told the magazine the actress began undergoing fertility treatments in February.

Over the years, Berry has made no secret about her desire for a family. Back in April, Berry sat down with O’Dell for a candid talk about Berry’s plans for kids. ‘Not that there’s not more to accomplish, but I think I arrived at a point in life that I realized I needed more to get me up in the morning. More than going to a new movie set. Or as much fun as getting the star was yesterday, I need something even more profound than that and that’s family. And that’s children,’ Berry said. ‘I need that like the air to breathe these days and I’m ready. I’m at a point where I’m really, really ready.’ Halle and Gabriel met in November 2005.

Wow, if she says she’s three months along and is looking forward to the next seven months of pregnancy, Halle must be planning on a Bridget Moynihan-style 10 month gestation. I’m joking, I know she’s rounding. Or maybe really bad at math. The comment from an “insider” who said Berry had undergone fertility treatments is interesting, since she had previously stated that she would adopt kids if she didn’t get pregnant naturally. Oh well, to each his (or her) own. Halle was really close to her stepdaughter, Eric Benét’s daughter India. She’d made plans to adopt her before their marriage fell apart. Clearly children are really important to her, so it’s great she’s finally gotten something she’s wanted for so long. Congrats to them both!

Halle Berry has been pretty outspoken about her future plans for a child. She told Oprah she wanted a baby before she was 40. She’s also often quoted as saying she wants a biological baby and that she’s considering adoption too, “I probably will adopt even if it does happen naturally.” Halle also rules out ever getting married again after two failed attempts, and says that a marriage license is not necessary for a long-lasting, committed relationship.

Whenever Halle goes out in a floaty top the gossip rags call her pregnant, and in May she sent paparazzi into a frenzy when she wore a loose top while out shopping with her mother.

The latest National Enquirer is set to claim that 41 year-old Halle is two months pregnant, and not one to pass up a sensational angle, they’re bringing up her diabetes as a possible complication for her maybe-pregnancy:

Halle Berry’s dream has reportedly come true: the actress recently learned she’s two months pregnant, sources tell The National Enquirer. But Halle’s baby joy has been tempered by her fears that her diabetes could turn the happiest event of her life into a difficult pregnancy.

Halle is so happy right now, said an insider. She’s wanted a baby for so long. But at the same time she’s scared because she is very aware of the complications that having diabetes can cause during pregnancy. She’s doing everything possible to make sure her baby is born healthy.

According to medical experts, diabetes increases the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth and birth defects for expectant moms with the disease. Moms with diabetes have a significantly greater risk of having babies born with heart, brain, kidney, and spinal problems as a result of changes of blood glucose levels in the body during pregnancy. But with the proper care, Halle has an excellent chance of delivering a healthy baby.

The Enquirer was right about Nicole Richie’s pregnancy, and was the first source to declare her pregnant. It’s possible they were guessing based on paparazzi pictures, like we did, but since they were correct in that instance it’s somewhat possible they do have some inside source that knows that Halle is pregnant.

If this is true, congratulations to Halle and her boyfriend, Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, 31. The last paparazzi or event pictures I could find of her are from late May so she’s been laying low at least.

Halle Berry might say never when it comes to getting married again, but that doesn’t mean she can’t domesticate her live-in boyfriend, Montreal-born model Gabriel Aubry, 31. Berry was seen out with Aubry at Restoration Hardware, the guy-friendly version of Pottery Barn, encouraging him to pick out candles and towels. When it came time to pay the over $1,000 bill, she made it clear that he was footing it. The guy had a black no-limit AmEx, though, so it’s not like he can’t afford it:

The 40-year-old beauty took her live-in love Gabriel Aubry to the mall recently – and gave him a brief lesson in Shopping 101.

“Halle dragged Gabriel into Restoration Hardware in Century City to pick out towels and candles for their Los Angeles home,” a source told the Enquirer.

But when a sale associate tried to assist the couple, Halle waved the guy off.

“She told him: ‘No thanks, He needs to learn how to do these things himself! You men suddenly get all helpless when it comes to domestic stuff. And that just doesn’t cut it with me!”

With Halle’s guidance, Gabriel picked out about $800 worth of bath towels and some decorative candles. Gabriel, 31, “was the picture of contrition,” says the source. “Talk about henpecked – the poor guy should have been wearing an apron!”

But the clincher came when the couple was checking out during the June 21 outing.

“The total was over $1,000,” the source said. At first Gabriel just stood there. Until Halle said: ‘Well, you certainly don’t think I’m paying!’”

Gabriel fumbled for his wallet and quickly broke out a black American Express card and gave it to the clerk.

Why do I love this story? I mean, as a single women I was taught never to try and get a guy to re-do his apartment for you (take a note, Camilla Alves) but somehow Halle Berry telling her boyfriend he has to learn to shop for home goods is empowering. Aubrey is one of those beautiful men that you expect to have a spotless place and all the high-end accoutrements that go along with it, but maybe he’s really an average guy slob and that perfect bone structure is misleading.

Halle Berry was recently named the best looking celebrity over 40 by InTouch Magazine. She will turn 41 on August 14th. (And her boyfriend is 31!)
