Lindsay Lohan rejected offer to come out as a lesbian for $1 million

This sounds like such a truth or dare question: would you come out as a lesbian for $1 million? That’s the question that OK! Magazine might be asking Lindsay Lohan.

Lindsay Lohan has rejected a $1 million deal to confess she is ‘gay’ and announce she is ‘dating’ close friend, Samantha Ronson, it was reported.

America’s OK! magazine allegedly offered the Mean Girl star a cover feature based around Lilo ‘comes out’.

Insiders claim the deal was worth ‘around $1million to do the cover.’

A spokesperson for the actress denied the deal, saying, ‘They sent offers and we passed.’

The claims come after Lohan and Ronson appeared in a close embrace in Cannes recently. Lilo’s parents have also both commented on the lesbian claims surrounding their daughter, with Mrs Lohan calling Ronson an ‘angel’.

Metro

A lesbian exclusive really has a place in another well known magazine, perhaps Hugh Heffner could offer Lindsay and Samantha a little more money.

Dina Lohan might offer to sell her side of the story to OK! for significantly less cash, although it seems these days her career is going better than Lindsay’s. Yesterday she told the press that “If [Lindsay’s] happy, I’m happy. That’s all I’ll say. Samantha’s great. I’ve known her and her family for ten years.”

Strangely, that’s probably her best moment of parenting ever, to almost out her daughter to the international media. At least she’s being open and accepting of her daughter’s sexuality, but not so accepting that she’s showing her 14-year-old daughter her 21-year-old daughter’s look-alike sex tape. On national television.

Lindsay was at the MTV Awards this weekend, and suffered from a slight wardrobe malfunction, which was the result of windy conditions. I like the colour of her dress.

Lohan is shown at the MTV movie awards on 6/1/08, thanks to WENN.

Are the tabloids in a bidding war over Lindsay Lohan coming out story?

Lindsay “pay attention to meeee” Lohan was seen out at Cannes wearing what looked like an obvious engagement ring on her left hand. This isn’t the first piece of jewelry she’s flaunted that suggests her very close relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson is more than just a friendship. She wore an initial ring with “SR” on it, much like Paris and Benji’s initial rings for each other, in March.

Although I thought Lohan was already staying with Ronson, The NY Post says they’ve made it official and are now living together. There’s also a rumor which may have originated on a Lindsay Lohan fan site that “tabloids are now offering Lohan a huge amount of cash if she’ll come out as a lesbian to them exclusively.” [via ONTD] Maybe Lindsay was trying to spark a bidding war for her story by kissing and holding hands with Samantha in Cannes. She could definitely use the money for a reckless shopping spree.

And Lohan was spotted lip synching her own song, Bossy, while out at a bar in LA, according to the National Enquirer:

LINDSAY LOHAN is her own biggest fan. At Crown Bar on May 14, the “Mean Girls” star was sipping Red Bull and vodka when her dee-jay gal pal SAMANTHA RONSON played her new song “Bossy,” sending Linds into a frenzy.

She jumped onto a couch and started to dance and lip-sync, while other club-goers just stared and laughed. They’re laughing AT you, Lindsay – not WITH you.

[From The National Enquirer's website]

Ronson must really love Lohan if she’s willing to put her DJing cred at stake by playing that piece of crap.

John McCain tells Ellen he doesn’t support gay marriage (comments closed)

Republican Presidential Candidate Senator John McCain, 71, was on the Ellen DeGeneres show this morning, and he told her in a somewhat roundabout way that he doesn’t support full marriage rights for same sex couples. Ellen announced last week after the landmark decision by the California Supreme Court legalizing same sex marriage that she would marry her longterm partner, Portia de Rossi.

McCain was respectful in his response and measured, but he pretty much said he’ll never support full rights for same sex couples:

McCain: “I think that people should be able to enter into legal agreements, and I think that is something that we should encourage, particularly in the case of insurance and other areas. Decisions that have to be made. I just believe in the unique status of marriage between a man and woman and I think that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue.”

Ellen: “Yeah, it is looked at and some people are saying the same – that blacks and women did not have the right to vote. Women just got the right to vote 1920, blacks didn’t have the right to vote until 1870, and it just feels like there’s this old way of thinking that we are not all the same. We are all the same people, all of us. You’re no different than I am. Our love is the same.

“To me, what it feels like… I will speak for myself. It feels when someone says you can have a contract and you’ll get insurance and you’ll get all that. It sounds to me like saying “Well you can sit there, you just can’t sit there.” That’s what it sounds like to me. It doesn’t feel inclusive. It feels isolated… like we are not owed the same things. In wording.”

McCain: “Well, I’ve heard you articulate that position in a very eloquent fashion. We just have a disagreement and I, along with many many others, wish you every happiness.”

Ellen: “So you’ll walk me down the aisle? Is that what you’re saying?”

McCain: “Touché.”
[Transcribed from video shown above.]

I’ve said this before, but I don’t dislike McCain as a person. I don’t agree with his politics at all, but I admire the way the man has handled himself for years. He comes across like he has integrity, and as Obama often mentions, McCain is a genuine war hero.

Ellen really brought the point home when she said McCain’s position was an “old way of thinking.” The guy is 71, and he comes across like this doddering old grandfather set in his ways. He was on The Regis & Kelly show a couple weeks ago and he told this long rambling story which seemed to have no point, and it just struck me like he’s not with it at all. I wish him well, but America doesn’t need another Republican in office for four more years, they need change and someone who will support the rights of everyone regardless of who they are and who they love.

George Takei to marry partner of 21 years

Ellen Degeneres isn’t the only celebrity Californian to announce she’ll marry her partner after the state became the second in the union to legalize same sex marriage. George Takei, best known for his role on Star Trek as Sulu, has announced on his website that he will marry his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman:

The California Supreme Court has ruled that all Californians have a fundamental right to marry the person he or she loves. Brad and I have shared our lives together for over 21 years. We’ve worked in partnership; he manages the business side of my career and I do the performing. We’ve traveled the world together from Europe to Asia to Australia. We’ve shared the good times as well as struggled through the bad. He helped me care for my ailing mother who lived with us for the last years of her life. He is my love and I can’t imagine life without him. Now, we can have the dignity, as well as all the responsibilities, of marriage. We embrace it all heartily.

The California Supreme Court further ruled that our Constitution provides for equal protection for all and that it cannot have marriage for one group and another form – domestic partnership – for another group. No more “separate but equal.” No more second-class citizenship. Brad and I are going to be married as full citizens of our state.

[From GeorgeTakei.com]

It’s about time that same sex couples had the right to marry. Can you imagine not being able to see your long term partner in the hospital, or being told that you had no right to inherit after the person you spent most of your life with passed away? That’s what many same sex couples face, and it must be a scary situation that a lot of people have to plan for when they don’t have the right to marry. Now there are two states where same sex couples are recognized and have the same legal rights.

Congratulations to George and Brad for being able to make it official! 21 years is a long time to wait.

George Takei is 71, but he looks like he’s in his early 50s to me. Takei has several cameos in upcoming comedies and he keeps busy with speaking and convention appearances. He recently appeared on Heroes as the character Hiro’s father. He’s also an incredibly good sport, and has gone on the Howard Stern show multiple times and laughed through all the jokes at his expense. Takei was a guest announcer on Howard Stern for a week this March, and credits Stern for helping revive his career.

Thanks to Trekmovie.com for the header image and details for this story. Other details from Wikipedia.

Lindsay Lohan’s family claims she’s not gay

Those rumors about Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson being lovers just won’t go away. The pair have been friends for several years, and gossip about the two of them has been around for almost as long. Dina and Ali Lohan just gave an interview to Extra, in which they’re asked about Lindsay’s lady-loving proclivities.

White Oprah and her 35-year-old daughter, Ali Lohan, are making the rounds whoring out their new reality show. Extra asked Ali and White Oprah about the rumors that HoHan is bumping vagina lips with Samantha Ronson.

Ali said, “They’re best friends. They’re just friends. It’s pathetic what people say.” Lezzzz be friends. Best friends with benefits! Friends who happen to eat each other’s coochie cats. You get the picture.

White Oprah responded, “It’s so silly. We actually laugh about it now. It really hurts, but you develop a thick skin. You have to ignore it.” A thick skin thanks to layers and layers of fake tanning grease!

Denials! You can’t deny the heat between Ronson and HoHan. That’s from some weird STD, but there’s still heat between them!

[From Dlisted]

That’s obviously not exactly the official transcript, but Michael K does a much better job summing it up than any line-by-line interview ever could. At one point the Extra interviewer asks Dina about her relationship with ex-husband Michael Lohan, and Dina’s publicist is heard trying to cut the interview. Dina is actually remarkably gracious (at least in comparison) and says she doesn’t want to talk about him. Here’s a clip of the interview, thanks to RedLasso.

Cynthia Nixon wants to marry her girlfriend

Cynthia Nixon’s romance with her girlfriend of four years caught a lot of people by surprise. And it’s no wonder – Nixon had been with her boyfriend for fifteen years, had two kids with him, and had never before been with a woman. But when you fall in love, you fall in love. Nixon says that while she never had any desire to marry her boyfriend, she’d marry girlfriend Christine Marinoni if she could do so legally.

“If it becomes legal, I think we would,” Cynthia tells The Mirror. “It’s something my girlfriend is interested in and it was not something my boyfriend ever was. I think that to get married to her would be a little act of rebellion. It’s like if you’ve never had the vote and then you get it you’re going to run out there and vote.”

Always “very wary” of marriage, the 42-year-old admits she consciously avoided exchanging vows with Danny Mozes, her boyfriend of 15 years and father of her children, Samantha, 11, and Charles, 5, because “I felt like it was potentially a trap. People sometimes want the party, the gifts and the public celebration of this big love – they’re excited about that rather than about the lifetime commitment,” Cynthia says. “So I always steered clear of it.”

She continues, “I had been with men all my life and I had never met a woman I had fallen in love with before. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. “I don’t define myself. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.”

[From OK! Magazine]

Cynthia also said she never felt the need to come out of the closet, because she never felt that she was in a closet. The way she says it is a little unclear in terms of her orientation, but the way she speaks openly about love is really beautiful. She notes, “I met this woman and I fell in love with her. In terms of my sexual orientation, I don’t really feel that I changed. I don’t feel any different than I did before.”

It is interesting that she says she’d probably want to marry, but phrases it, “It’s something my girlfriend is interested in…” instead of saying it’s something both she and Christine are interested in. The phrasing makes it sound more like it’s something her girlfriend wants to do, and Nixon’s okay with going along with it. But obviously if she’s talking so publicly about it, one would assume she’s pretty into the idea. That could make for a pretty interesting reality “Sex & the City” show.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Cynthia Nixon, Christine Marinoni, and Cynthia’s children Charles and Samantha are shown at a fundraiser at Central Park Zoo on 6/12/06. Cynthia Nixon is shown at the London Sex and The City premiere yesterday, thanks to WENN.

Jay Leno slammed for telling Ryan Phillippe to make his “gayest look”

lenoryan.jpg
I heard this story last week, but People Magazine is reporting it now, so we may as well cover it: A gay blogger and playwright is slamming Jay Leno for careless remarks he made when Ryan Phillippe was on his show. Ryan played the first gay teenager on television in his first acting job. He played Billy Douglas in the opera soap opera “One Life to Live,” and said that it caused some controversy with the Baptist church in his small town in Delaware. (Phillippe later told Ellen Degeneres that he received letters from gay teens saying he saved them from suicide, but he didn’t realize the importance of his role at the time, because he was 17 and was just glad to have a job.)

Jay told Ryan to show the camera his “gayest look,” but he was talking about the way that soap operas make everything melodramatic for effect, and how the actors look at the camera with piercing eyes. I took it in that context and not as something he came up with as a stereotype of a gay man:

Apparently attempting to become playful during his interview with guest Ryan Phillippe (whose appearance was keyed to his new movie Stop-Loss), Leno, 57, said to the actor, “Can you give me, like – say that camera is your gay lover …”

Despite Phillippe’s instant discomfort, Leno went on to say, “Can you give me your ‘gayest look’? Say that camera is Billy Bob – Billy Bob has just ridden in shirtless from Wyoming.”

“Wow,” replied Phillippe, 33. “That is so something I don’t want to do. Are you just going to embarrass me tonight, or … ?”

“No,” said Leno. “I got more stuff. This is the least of it.”

Among those in the home audience who quickly took offense, reports USA Today, was Tony-winning Avenue Q librettist Jeff Whitty, 36.

On his personal blog, Whitty flashes Leno what he considers his “gayest look” – which involves a well-known gesture with his middle finger. Whitty also asks, “Would you ask a guest to make their ‘blackest face?’ Their ‘Jewiest face?’ ”

Following suit, others have posted their “gayest looks” for Leno – also involving the same gesture – at the newly created Web site, My Gayest Look.

[From People.com]

I didn’t cover this when I first heard it, because I watched that whole interview carefully and even transcribed some of it, and the comments Leno made did not seem offensive or targeted at gay men to me. Jay was talking about the way that soap operas exaggerate things, from my perspective. Plus I didn’t want to stir up a controversy. Sure Jay Leno made some stupid remarks, but I felt that as a semi-straight woman I’m not the one to say whether it was offensive to gay people or not, and frankly I felt stupid for not recognizing it as potentially offensive in the first place.

Whitty has some valid points that Jay wouldn’t ask someone to make their blackest or Jewiest face, and Leno even seemed uncomfortable when Halle Berry said that a photo of her with her nose photoshopped to look big was her “Jewish cousin.” Producers recognized that Berry’s remark was offensive and removed it prior to the show being aired, but someone has to hit them over the head to see that Jay is doing a similar thing here.

The best thing to come out of this is the website My Gayest Look, which involves tons of people giving Jay the finger. Now that this has some media attention, expect an apology from Jay. Maybe this will make media personalities think twice before making offhand stupid comments about groups of people. Also – I think that Asians are routinely stereotyped and made fun of in the media and that it gets hardly any attention. It’s good that people speak out and let us know when someone is out of line and I feel enlightened in this case, but am kind of humbled that I didn’t see it myself.

Update: Leno has apologized for his comments, saying that he agrees that it was dumb and that is came out wrong. He should have said “most melodramatic look” or “best soap opera stare”

“In talking about Ryan’s first role, I realize that what I said came out wrong,” the host of NBC’s Tonight Show said in a statement to PEOPLE. “I certainly didn’t mean any malice. I agree it was a dumb thing to say, and I apologize.”

[From People.com]

Here’s the video. The “gayest look” comment is about 2 minutes in:

They should paginate that Gayest Look site and add advertising, because it’s a lot of fun to look through all the photos of people giving the brid.

JC Chasez and Chace Crawford say they are straight

notdating.jpg
I guess I’m an old lady, because I barely know who JC Chasez is, and have absolutely no idea who this Chace Crawford person is. All I know is, he has a soap opera name and he is prettier than most girls I know. Anyway, these two marginally famous pretty boys insist that they are nothing more than straight friends, despite rumors circulating to the contrary.

Get it straight: JC Chasez and Chace Crawford aren’t dating.

The former NSYNC singer, 31, debunked Internet rumors linking him to the Gossip Girl hottie, 22, on Kiss-FM 104.7 on Wednesday.

“For the record, we’re both straight,” Chasez declared. “We’re not dating.”

Chasez — who called Crawford a “super nice guy” — said he understands why people may think they’re an item.

“The only time people usually see us together is in some type of photograph, so they just assume that it’s like that,” he said.

“If I’m dating a girl and I’m standing next to another girl, I’m having an affair,” Chasez went on.

“So now, since there hasn’t been any of that smoke out there, if I’m hanging out with a guy, they’re going to make up a rumor.

“It’s just stupid.”

[From Us Weekly]

I’ve never seen Chasez standing next to a girl– unless you count Justin Timberlake. Anyway, Chace’s relationship with beard- uh, American Idol Carrie Underwood, is over.

Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford have split, sources confirm to Usmagazine.com.

The American Idol winner, 25, and the Gossip Girl star, 22, had been dating since last July, but did not go public with their romance until October.

Underwood had spent Thanksgiving at his parents’ home in Dallas and part of her Christmas break with his relatives.

An insider told Us Weekly in December, “His parents are fond of her… they believe ‘Carrie Crawford’ would be a great addition to the family!”

“She’s a classy girl,” Crawford told Us in October.

[From Us Weekly]

I’m sure all of you in CelebitchyLand will sleep better tonight knowing that these two are straight, and that Chace is, in fact, available. Here’s my question: how in the world did these two meet- at a day spa or something? Also: when did anyone start caring about either of them? I can’t remember the last time JC Chasez did anything relevant, and this Chace kid is on a brand new CW show that I’ve never even heard of.

Cynthia Nixon opens up about her longterm same-sex partner

Sex and The City star Cynthia Nixon has two children from her relationship with a male English professor, which lasted from 1988 to 2003. They have a daughter Samantha, 11, and a son Charles, 5. In September, 2004, the news came out that she had a same sex partner, an education activist named Christine Marinoni, and that the two were raising Nixon’s children together in Brooklyn. At first Nixon understandably wasn’t too open with the press about her relationship, and you can’t blame her based on the sensational way the story was reported.

In a Nightline interview in February, 2006, she talked about her relationship without getting into specifics. She said “I think people have been pretty good… they understand and they’re pretty respectful.” She also said of the media coverage that “It was a little crazy being on the front page of the paper, and I had photographers outside my house for a day or two, but, it wasn’t so bad.”

In June, 2006 Nixon again spoke in general terms about her personal life, saying “My private life is private. But I have nothing to hide. So what I will say is that I am very happy.”

Then in September of 2006 she did discuss her partner and described the way she fell for her in matter-of-fact terms. She said in an interview with New York Magazine that “I never felt like there was an unconscious part of me around that woke up or that came out of the closet; there wasn’t a struggle, there wasn’t an attempt to suppress. I met this woman, I fell in love with her, and I’m a public figure.”

And recently Nixon, 41, talked about her partner glowingly and about how much she loves her. She mentioned how they both work together in their household and called their relationship “fantastic”:

The SATC star told reporters, “I’m in a fantastic relationship,” she continued, “We shop and cook and raise children…We both pitch in.” Much like in SATC, Cynthia and her partner raise her two kids Samantha, 11, and Charles, 6, in Brooklyn. (Note by Celebitchy: Charles is 5 according to Wikipedia.)

“I’m in love with her because she’s her. If she were a man, would I be in love with her? I don’t know.”

[From OK! Magazine]

I like how she describes their relationship. It’s like something that was once sensationalized as some big scandal is really just two people raising children together like many families do. In her NY Magazine interview, Nixon said of the media coverage that “if someone is chasing you, stop running. And then they’ll stop chasing you.”

Nixon handled the press extremely well in that she spoke in general terms that covered the major points while making it clear that she considered her relationship a non-issue. She didn’t get into too many details. And now it’s time to say what she’s wanted to all along, that she loves her partner and that it’s the little things that make their relationship special.

Nixon’s partner is a bigger woman and many people were like “oh, she’s not hot.” I think in her statements she’s making it clear why she loves her, and that it’s much deeper than looks and yet is as average as any relationship.

Nixon next stars in the Sex and The City movie, which opens in the US on May 30, 2008.

Thanks to Wikipedia for some details.

Cynthia Nixon, Christine Marinoni, and Cynthia’s children Charles and Samantha are shown at a fundraiser at Central Park Zoo on 6/12/06, thanks to WENN.

“American Idol” contestant once danced at gay strip club

29439.jpg

Though “American Idol” claims to have a pretty thorough screening process, contestants with less than savory backgrounds keep getting through. Which wouldn’t be a problem if “Idol’s” producers said they didn’t care one way or the other – but they’ve kicked singers out for unsavory things in the past. A few years ago singer Frenchie Davis was eliminated from the competition after topless photos of her surfaced on the internet. However last year contestant was allowed to stay when her racy photos popped up. Now it’s been revealed that 24-year-old contestant David Hernandez used to work as a stripper in a gay strip club for over three years – and it’s been confirmed by the club’s owner.

“American Idol” contestant David Hernandez once entertained audiences by removing his clothes instead of singing tunes, a manager at a male strip club in Phoenix told The Associated Press.

The 24-year-old finalist from Glendale, Ariz., once worked as a stripper at Dick’s Cabaret, appearing fully nude and performing lap dances for the club’s “mostly male” clientele, club manager Gordy Bryan said Monday.

“He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here,” Bryan said. According to Bryan, Hernandez steadily worked at the club for three years until September 30, 2007. “He never renewed his licensing with the state, so he hasn’t been on my roster since then,” Bryan said.

[From the Huffington Post]

“American Idol” producers could get a lot of bad press if they kick Hernandez out. If they’d had a clear-cut policy on this kind of issue, that’d be one thing. But since they’ve kicked one person out and let another stay, it could look like bias if they made Hernandez leave the competition. I wonder if the producers would consider working as a stripper better or worse than posing nude. They’ve also kicked people out for having criminal backgrounds – but have let some people stay as long as they revealed whatever negatives were in their past. I honestly wish they’d be a little more lenient. If a criminal has paid their debt to society, they have a right and responsibility to get a job. Why shouldn’t they try out for American Idol? What an inspirational story that would be – “Ex con turns his/her life around.” Same thing with someone who was a stripper. Talk about following your dreams. Hopefully Hernandez will be judged based on his talent and not his past.
