Gloria Allred covers latest nanny’s mouth, controls her in press conference

I read People’s report of the press conference featuring the latest nanny to file a civil suit against Rob and Sheryl Lowe, and came away with some hope that this case might get interesting. People makes it seem as if the alleged victim comes across as believable, saying that Boyce “trembled and nearly hyperventilated” throughout the press conference.

Then I saw a clip on TMZ, and like Allred’s appearance with the first nanny on The Today Show, she ran the whole show and managed to make it seem like it was her idea to file the suit. Allred didn’t let Boyce answer any questions, and when she tried to address a question about whether she was betraying a boss who brought her to the emergency room after being beat up by a boyfriend, Allred actually covered Boyce’s mouth and said she wouldn’t be fielding questions. Throughout the interview Allred held Boyce’s hand, putting her arm around her like she was a child.

Boyce’s emotional state was so overwrought that it seemed just as inappropriate to the situation as Jessica Gibson’s elation on The Today Show. She was breathing heavily and looked like she was freaking out.

Laura Boyce worked as a nanny to the Lowes for seven months last year. Boyce alleges that Rob Lowe’s wife Sheryl created a hostile work environment which included discussing her sex life and walking around naked. Sheryl Lowe says that she finds these charges “sickening and disgusting” and that the allegations that she used the “n” word to describe Boyce’s boyfriend are patently false and particularly bothersome to her.

Even if these women are telling the truth, Gloria Allred is ruining their chances at a fair settlement by so aggressively courting the media.

Here’s Extra’s! clip, which is much more sympathetic than TMZ’s.

Rob Lowe and wife sued again by different nanny, also repped by Gloria Allred

Almost everyone sided with Rob Lowe when the news came out that a nanny would had spent 7 years with his family, returning twice on her own volition, suddenly decided to sue for sexual harassment. 24 year-old Jessica Gibson claimed that Lowe fondled her and made her watch him masturbating among other allegations, but at no point in 7 years did she ever go to the police, her family or her supervisor with these claims. Now she’s suing in a civil suit and is represented by vampire attorney Gloria Allred. Gibson appeared giddy and less than credible in her single public appearance on The Today Show, in which she grinned foolishly and referred most questions to Allred, who went on about how excited she was to get a chance to confront Lowe and his wife in court.

Now Gibson’s lawyer Gloria Allred has filed suit against the Lowes on behalf of another nanny, but all the charges are against Lowe’s wife, Sheryl, and involve inappropriate talk and behavior. She does not accuse her of touching her or making a move on her at all:

Laura Boyce is not accusing Rob of sexual misdeeds, but she’s throwing everything — including the kitchen sink — at his wife, Sheryl.

TMZ is privy to the complaint, which has been filed in L.A. County Superior Court, but not yet released. Among the allegations against Sheryl:

- Walking around naked, completely exposing herself to Boyce.

- Asking Boyce about the size of Boyce’s boyfriend’s penis.

- Asking questions about how she could have sex with Boyce’s boyfriend, given his 7′ height (he’s a former NBA player).

- Using her forearm to gesture the size of Boyce’s boyfriend’s penis.

- Once saying “laughingly that her husband’s (Rob) cockrings were broken,” allegedly showing them to Boyce.

- Telling Boyce about her sex life with Rob.

- Talking about the size of her children’s penises.

- After Boyce allegedly phoned to say she wasn’t coming to work because she was sick, Sheryl allegedly screamed Boyce “got strep throat from sucking ni***r d**k. I mean black d**k.”

There is no claim of unwanted touching or overture. There are also claims for wrongful termination, abuse of process, unpaid salary and labor code violations.

[From TMZ]

If that’s even partially true, it’s really trashy and inexcusable. It also makes for an uncomfortable work environment, and if she really did these things - again we have no way of knowing since these are still allegations by people seeking money who worked for their family for years - then the nanny should have spoken to her supervisor, filed a complaint with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing in California, and clearly told Sheryl Lowe that this was unacceptable. Did the second nanny do any of these things to report her employer? It’s doubtful. In fact the woman who managed Lowe’s staff personally vouched for his behavior, as did a lot of his other employees and coworkers.

Here’s more information about how you can deal with suspected sexual harassment at work and what constitutes harassment. This would probably fall under the category of a “hostile work environment,” but if this is even true the woman should have told Sheryl to back off and should have filed a complaint.

Lowe’s lawyer says this is just another tactic by Gloria Allred to add fuel to a pretty weak case that’s getting negative publicity and that the allegations are false.

What I want to know is if this Laura Boyce who’s filing the second complaint is the 1/2 sister of nanny Jessica Gibson, who also worked for the Lowes for seven years.

Rob Lowe and his wife Sheryl are shown at the White House Correspondents’ dinner on 4/26/08. It seems like everyone pretty much went. Thanks to WENN.

Rob Lowe’s nanny says he sexually assaulted her, includes video

roblowenanny.jpg
Rob Lowe’s former nanny, Jessica Gibson, and her celebrity lawyer, Gloria Allred, were on the Today show this morning to give the nanny’s side of the story. 24 year-old Gibson worked for Lowe and his wife as a nanny for their two boys for 7 years, and even returned to work for the family twice. She left the job abruptly in February, and sent two text messages afterwards saying that it was just time for her to leave and that the Lowes didn’t do anything to prompt her departure. Lowe wrote last week that Gibson demanded $1.5 million in extortion money or “she will accuse us both of a vicious laundry list of false terribles.” He then preemptively sued Gibson and two other employees, saying they spread false information about him and his wife in violation of their confidentiality agreements. Lowe’s lawsuit did not give any specifics about the allegations against him.

Gibson has now filed her own lawsuit in which she lists the harassment she says she endured while working in Lowe’s household, including being touched inappropriately and seeing both Lowe and his wife Sheryl naked around the house:

Rob Lowe repeatedly exposed himself and inappropriately touched himself and his former nanny, she claims in a lawsuit filed Monday in a Santa Barbara, Calif. court.

Jessica Gibson, 24, worked for Lowe and his wife, Sheryl, off and on for seven years, according to the 18-page document. She quit on Feb. 24.

Lowe, 44, the lawsuit further alleges, “placed his hand inside Gibson’s pants” several times from about Sept. 2005 to around Jan. 2008. The actor also allegedly grabbed her buttocks without her consent around Dec. 2007, according to the filing….

In her legal papers, Gibson also made harassment claims against Sheryl, 46, claiming Lowe’s wife would walk around the house naked, make vulgar comments, and would discuss her sex life with Lowe to the nanny.

[From People.com]

On the Today Show, celebrity mouthpiece Allred dominated the conversation, and given how aggressive she was, and how triumphant Gibson looked, I found myself a bit skeptical about their side of the story. You want to give someone the benefit of the doubt, and sexual assault is a very serious thing. Given the details of this case, I just didn’t didn’t find the way they presented it all that convincing. It probably had more to do with Allred’s very dominant personality than anything else, and that’s unfortunate.

Gibson denied trying to extort money from blackmail the Lowes, as Lowe alleged in his article about her. Allred said their claims were “defamatory,” and that they were engaging in a “preemptive strike” against her, and that it was retaliation against her client’s claim of sexual harassment, which is illegal.

Meredith Viera asked Gibson why she kept working for the Lowes for seven years if she was being abused and harassed, and she said “I loved the children, I needed the job, I always thought it would get better, and I was scared.”

Viera asked Jessica about the e-mails that she sent after she left, and she wouldn’t talk about it. Viera again pressed “Jessica are you saying you didn’t write those e-mails in which you were saying you leaving had nothing to do with the Lowes?” and she didn’t answer and Allred said “We’re going to talk about that in the lawsuit, and why she did… she was in fear of them, she was trying to appease them. She was trying to get away.”

When Viera asked Gibson how she was coping, she said “I have a great team around me, and I just have to stand up and just fight.”

This case deserves a fair hearing, but this woman needs a normal lawyer who is going to accurately tell her side of the story in a believable way. Having Gloria Allred involved just makes it seem as if she wants it as high profile as possible, and that’s not doing her any favors. She also didn’t come across as convincing to me. That doesn’t mean she’s not telling the truth, just that she has to work on her public image if she’s going to start going on the talk shows.

TSA forces woman to painfully remove nipple rings with pliers

headerkekeke.JPG

Remember those traveling horror stories you used to hear about right after 9/11? Like the lady who was forced to drink her own breast milk to prove there was nothing in it? Apparently weird breast-related policies are still plaguing the Transportation Security Administration. Yesterday passenger Mandi Hamlin, 37, held a press conference with attorney Gloria Allred where she said she was humiliated last month after being forced to remove her two nipple rings behind a curtain at a Lubbock, Texas airport. Hamlin had to remove one of the rings with pliers - which was excruciatingly painful – all the while being subjected to the snickers from male TSA workers. Hamlin had offered to show a female TSA worker her piercings, but the employees insisted they had to be removed.

Hamlin and her lawyer, celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, said they want a public apology from the agency, as well as a guarantee that future passengers with piercings will be treated with dignity and respect. Allred pointed out that TSA’s Web site says passengers with piercings can undergo a pat-down inspection if they do not want to take their piercings out — an option she said Hamlin was never offered. “The conduct of TSA was cruel and unnecessary,” Allred told reporters at a news conference. “Last time that I checked, a nipple was not a dangerous weapon.” She said if an apology was not forthcoming, “Mandi is going to have to consider her legal options.”

“Ms. Hamlin did not want to remove her nipple piercings,” Allred said, reading from a letter she sent TSA. “After nipple rings are inserted, the skin can often heal around the piercing and the rings can be extremely difficult and painful to remove. In addition, once removed, the pierced skin may close up almost immediately, making it difficult and painful to reinsert the piercing.”

More officers were called over, and the group grew to four male and two female TSA officers, according to Hamlin. Also, a small crowd of onlookers had started to gather. The officers insisted that Hamlin remove the nipple rings, Allred said. “She felt humiliated by the scene that the TSA officers were making,” Allred said.

[From CNN]

The TSA is insisting their employees did everything right, but said they will change the policy so it doesn’t happen again in the future. Considering their website says passengers with body jewelry can undergo a pat down – yet Mandi Hamlin was forced to remove her rings with pliers instead – I’m not sure exactly how they can say the employees did everything right. The TSA also went out of their way to make sure they did not apologize to Hamlin, and just gave a bunch of bull “thanks for pointing that out” type comments instead.

Hamlin’s rings didn’t even set off the metal detector – but she was randomly pulled aside for additional security checks, and the hand-wand went off over her breasts. Normally the security personnel do a pretty good job, but in this case it sounds like they made a decision to humiliate this woman and not tell her about her own rights. I can’t imagine how humiliating and painful Hamlin’s experience must have been. It’s good that the TSA isn’t trying to insist that it’s a good policy, and has made it clear that they’ll change it. But they definitely owe Mandi Hamlin a very clear and remorseful apology.

Oh, no! Heather Mills coming to America, hires Gloria Allred

Just when you thought it was safe to diss the crazy, loudmouthed and now officially ex wife of Paul McCartney, sources are reporting that freshly-made millionaire Heather Mills has hired ballbusting attorney Gloria Allred and plans to travel to the U.S. soon. What does the U.S. have to do with anything? Can’t we be left out of it?

With at least $33 million burning a hole in her pocket, Heather Mills has hired Gloria Allred to be her advocate in the United States.

Gloria, who says she’s honored to represent Heather, tells PageSix.com, “Heather was delighted with the outcome today. It was about justice. Heather was a winner before she met Paul, and she will continue to be a winner. I admire Heather for her charity work.”

Heather told reporters today that she didn’t want the judgment to be made public because it would reveal information about the daughter she has with McCartney, Beatrice. Gloria tells us, “It’s my preference that everything be kept private because of Heather’s daughter. However, if it’s going to be made public, then everything should be made public, including the complete transcripts from the proceedings. Heather has often been treated unfairly.”

Tomorrow, a London court will decide how much information is released to the public. Allred wouldn’t comment about Mills’ future travel plans to the U.S.

[From Page Six]

First of all, why on earth does Heather Mills need to come anywhere near the U.S.? Nobody here likes her, and she is definitely not going to win over any hearts and minds with Gloria Allred as her mouthpiece. Heather didn’t want the judgment to be made public? Are you freakin’ kidding me? She was standing on the front steps of the courthouse blabbing her face off as soon as the judgment was made! And don’t even get me started on Gloria Allred. That woman takes the phrase “publicity whore” to an entirely new– and disgusting– level. I really can’t think of two more insipid, vile women on the planet than these two.

I sure am going to miss Heather’s old publicist. Remember her wacky YouTube videos, and how she tried to paint a sympathetic picture of a woman so poor, she “had to drive a PT Cruiser”? Well, now that Heather has her hooks into Paul’s money, she’s not messing around anymore. The Daily Mail estimated that Heather received 700 pounds for every hour she was married to Paul. Relatively speaking, I’d say that’s a bargain. Maybe she should call Eliot Spitzer once she arrives in the U.S. I hear he’s looking for a new whore to spend his money on these days.

Scary Spice predictably files paternity suit

Melanie Brown and her lawyer, the (in)famous Gloria Allred, announced that Brown has filed a paternity suit against Eddie Murphy. Apparently Eddie hasn’t stepped up to the plate yet. Shocking. In her statement, Brown said that she wanted her daughter, 4-month-old Angel Iris Murphy Brown, to know that she was planned and wanted by both of her parents. Somehow I doubt that’s entirely true, but it’s nice to do what you can to get the kid to believe it. Brown told reporters:

“‘I am here for one reason and one reason only – her name is Angel. Angel is my baby and Eddie’s. She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us, but I want her to know that she has two parents who desire to be responsible for her during her life and who love her so much that they want to be a part of it.’”

[From the Associated Press]

Gloria Allred was a little tougher than Brown… but that’s what she’s paid for. She told reporters that Murphy “’has not paid one penny of child support’ for the former couple’s daughter, said she plans to ask the court to award child support and ‘to decide what is reasonable.’” Allred also mentioned that although they have proved through DNA that Murphy is Angel’s father, he has yet to acknowledge her legally. “’We’ve had communication with his attorney, and now we’re moving forward,’” she said, adding that the papers are sealed because they concern a child.” She got a few good jabs at Murphy in her speech.

“’Murphy was promising to do the right thing, but to date he has not done the right thing,’ said Allred. ‘Mr. Murphy can have all the babies he chooses to have, but his responsibility needs to be to his own children. [Brown] is seeking sole physical and legal custody.’”

“Still, Allred said Brown would be happy to arrange for Murphy to see his daughter regularly ‘like millions of parents do.’”

“’He bought a big diamond ring for his new fianceé,’ added Allred, referring to Murphy’s recent engagement to girlfriend Tracey Edmonds. ‘It is nice to be generous to others, but what about his own baby?’”

[From People]

Eddie Murphy, you got served! Literally this time. I like Gloria Allred. She’s so tough with just a tiny hint of crazy. Unlike Nancy Grace who is crazy with a tiny hint of tough. I also love anyone who wears clothes to coordinate with their last name. Really though, how hard is it for Eddie Murphy to step up and support his child? There’s so much bitterness here that it’s doubtful he’ll ever be in his daughter’s life, but at least take some responsibility for your actions. Poor Angel Iris Murphy Brown. Not only does she have two kinda wacky parents, but her last name is Murphy Brown. I really hope kids today won’t get the reference.

Celebrity Attorney Gloria Allred Gets Her Own Show

sgg046055420.jpg

Just what we need - another reality show.

Hard hitting attorney Gloria Allred is slated to star in her own reality series, “No Guts No Gloria,” which is currently being shopped around town with the anticipation that one of the networks - cable or otherwise - will take it on.

According to Hearst Entertainment, the concept of the show is to pair up Allred with people who are “angry and out for justice,” making room for Allred to use her “take-no-prisoners attitude and unconventional tactics,” to help them find real and fair solutions to problematic situations.

According to Jerry Shevick, Executiave Vice President of Reality and Documentary Programming for Hearst and who will produce, says Allred’s time has come:

“Gloria has been in the middle of some of the past decades’ biggest stories, and I believe that she will help us create situations for our series’ participants every bit as dramatic and newsworthy as she’s done for hundreds of her own clients.”

Allred, who has been a practicing attorney for over 31 years, has some high profile cases under her diamond studded belt, including Amber Frey, who was a witness in the Scott Peterson murder trial.

Allred, who hosted a radio talk show on KABC for 14 years and who is the author of “Fight Back and Win: My Thirty-Year Fight Against Injustice And How You Can Win Your Own Battles,” says:

“We believe that we’ve found a creative and unique concept that will be both entertaining and empowering. I love a new challenge, and I think our participants will too.”

Hollywood Reporter

Most recently, Allred is heading up the cases of at least two Hollywood heavyweights; Melanie Brown and her paternity suit against her baby daddy, Eddie Murphy (TMZ caught Allred and Brown lunching at the infamous Mr. Chow last week) as well as former NYPD Blue star Esai Morales, who is being sued by a former girlfriend who claims the actor assaulted her and gave her herpes.

That should be enough to keep her busy for oh, a few more weeks at least.
