Star Jones continues to freeload

Star Jones famously got a large portion of her sham wedding ceremony to Al Reynolds comped. Now she doesn’t want to pay for stripping-focused exercise lessons, since she’s not going to need them anyway:

The large-and-in-charge co-host of “The View” - looking to tighten up after getting a breast lift (with implants) and losing 150 pounds (with gastric bypass surgery) - asked her manager to set up free private lessons at S Factor gym, where owner Sheila Kelley teaches her charges to use a stripper pole. Kelley offered only the first lesson for free, and Jones decided to stick with Equinox. Despite e-mails that show otherwise, a spokesman for Star said it was Kelley who approached her.

Obviously Jones is up to her old tricks and thinks that her dim star power is enough to get her anything she wants. She should just be canned from The View already and become a spokesperson because she doesn’t have many career options left.

By all accounts, Jones’ return to the View after the health scare she suffered from breast lift surgery was unremarkable. Jones brought some falsies in for her co-hosts, saying she no longer needed them, and admitted that she did have a scare on the operating table. She continued to downplay the threat to her health though and insisted that she was “eating bacon and eggs” the next morning. Jones seemed to get along fine with Joy Behar after their snotty exchange on the phone over the air. The two must have been making a special effort.

Jones was honored by Dress for Success at the Marriot Marquis in NY last night. Dress for Success is a non-profit organization that provides secondhand business attire and interview tips to disadvantaged women. Jones must be considered a wonderful example for women afraid to ask for charity.

Here’s Jones in what’s probably a borrowed dress at the Dress for Success event last night.

Comedy for a Cure Benefit

The fifth annual “Comedy for a Cure” benefit for The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance was held last night in Hollywood. Attending stars included Julianne Moore, Teri Hatcher, Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Kaczmarek, Patricia Heaton, and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Royal asshole Billy Bush served as master of ceremonies.

Calista Flockhart was also supposed to serve as a host, but does not seem to have shown up since there aren’t any pictures of her.

A little more about the disease Tuberous Sclerosis:

Tuberous Sclerosis is a devastating disease that causes seizures, autism, mental retardation, kidney failure, lung failure and worse. There is currently no cure. The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is the only national organization dedicated to finding a cure for tuberous sclerosis while improving the lives of those affected.

The event featured live auctions and comedy. Teri Hatcher even sat on a winning bidder’s lap.

12 more pictures after the jump.

J.Love cooks brownies for old people

Jennifer Love Hewitt volunteered to take brownies to old people as part of a marketing bid by Betty Crocker. She got involved with “Bake and Take Day” which hopes to inspire people to make food for others in their community. It really is a nice idea, and we’re just being snotty. The press release is a bit self-congratulatory, though:

“I’m very happy to be working with Betty Crocker and the Bake and Take program,” said Hewitt. “It’s a wonderful way to raise awareness about the importance of giving back to people in your community by working with organizations that directly contribute to a person’s well-being, not only by providing nutritious meals but also human contact and interaction.”

Betty Crocker and Hewitt hope to inspire others to bake their favorite items and take them to the elderly, sick or needy in their community, and to encourage people to make a difference by getting involved with organizations like Project Angel Food, senior care centers, and other institutions.

We know Jennifer Love Hewitt is a kind, decent person because she listens to old people talk about their dead relatives and does lots of volunteer work.

Here is J.Love, who Wilmer Valderrama rated an 8 out of 10 in bed, working with “Bake and Take” yesterday in LA.

Angelina Jolie to write autobiography

Angelina Jolie wants to write her life story, and will focus on her role as a mother and include stories from other mothers around the world:

The 30-year-old is planning on writing a book chronicling her Hollywood career and her experiences traveling around the globe. A source tells magazine Star, “She’s writing about her experiences adopting children and becoming a new mom.”

The source added, “She also wants to include memoirs from all mothers she has met around the world and got to know. She’s going to include stories about the orphans that she’s met, and she’s hoping it will encourage people to adopt and help others understand why she travels and is so active as a goodwill ambassador.”

That’s a great idea and it’s sure to be a best seller. Angelina has used her fame to bring awareness to important causes and by highlighting the role of mothers, her new book should make a difference.

Catherine Zeta-Jones on the set of Mostly Martha

Catherine Zeta-Jones is filming “Mostly Martha” in NY. “Mostly Martha” is a remake of a 2001 German film of the same name. I’ve seen the original. It’s a thoughtful film about a single female chef who cares for her niece after her sister dies. The chef is a workaholic who avoids relationships and tries to express her emotions through cooking. Hopefully the remake will be as good as its predecessor.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband, Michael Douglas, are the latest celebrities to lend their star power to a cause for the United Nations. They will attend a UN dinner on April 4th to raise funds for landmine removal.

Paris Hilton fulfills wish for superficial cancer patient

Paris Hilton got all choked up in an interview while describing the earth-shattering experience of opening her closet to a 16 year-old girl in remission from thyroid cancer:

“I’ve been wanting to do this a long time, working with make a wish. Giving one day of your life can make such a difference, really brighten kids spirits, and it’s just…

I mean just the look in their eye when you just meet them, I mean how happy and grateful they are, there’s nothing like it.”

You can watch the video here, and see for yourself when Paris starts to fake cry - right at the point when she’s describing “the look in their eye when you just meet them.” Yes Paris, it’s overwhelming to be so adored. (Paris needs more attention, watch this video of her taking her own picture over and over again.)

Paris opened her heart and her closet to Amber, who was celebrating her 16th birthday the next day, saying things like, “lets find you a hot outfit for your birthday,” “you love it,” and “you like this.”

Later the two went shopping on Rodeo drive. Amber said it was her dream to meet Paris Hilton and she called the day “amazing.”

It is nice of Hilton to volunteer for the Make a Wish foundation, and we’re glad she found someone who can appreciate exactly what she has to offer. [via]

Sting can’t stop thinking about his strip club

Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, performed in a one-night-only theater benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at the The New Victory Theater in NY last night. Sting and Trudie read and performed “the most intimate words, music, and shared passions of the extraordinary composers and lovers Robert and Clara Schumann.”

Sting looked like his mind was elsewhere as he posed with his wife at the event. With the news that he’s opening a strip club with David Bowie and is keen to get invited to high-class sex parties, you can bet their relationship is less than stable.

Four more pictures after the jump.

Cynthia Nixon lobbies for school funding

Cynthia Nixon appeared today at City Hall in NY to lobby for more funds for schools as part of the “Our Kids Can’t Wait” campaign.

Nixon made headlines a year and a half ago when the news came out that she had left her husband for a female partner.

She is currently appearing in a Broadway play called “Rabbit Hole” about a couple “trying to cope with the loss of their son.” It is a tear-jerker that has received rave reviews.

Chloe Sevigny nude and hairy (NSFW)

Chloe Sevigny appears nude in the latest issue of Purple Magazine. While we can’t verify it, Purple may be a breast cancer awareness magazine, so it’s for a good cause. (Purple might alternately be a foreign publication based on the writing on one of the photos.)

Sevigny recently said that she believes the tabloids and that they’re accurate in her experience:

“[Tabloids are] horrible, but they’re really addictive,” she told Rolling Stone magazine.

“And I believe that almost all of it is true. Sadly.”

“Everything that I’ve read that has to do with anyone I’ve ever known has been pretty spot on.”

Wow, there you have it. The tabloids have accurate dirt on the B-listers.

These pictures are NSFW at all.

Jessica Alba at “Girls in the Director’s Chair and Women In Film” event

Jessica Alba was a panelist at “Girls in the Director’s Chair and Women In Film Empower Young Girls to Reach for the Stars” event at the Beverly Hills Wiltshire hotel yesterday. Academy-Award winning Crash producer Cathy Shulman also attended. “Girls in the Director’s Chair” and “Women in Film” are non-profit organizations that seek to encourage and mentor young women in the entertainment industry.

A two-minute short and a public service announcement produced and directed by teens were premiered at the event:

In line with GIDC’s mission to empower young women in their filmmaking aspirations, the PSA focuses on a young girl’s dream to become an established director in Hollywood and encourages other teens to explore their own creativity and artistic potential through Fresh Films, a national platform for teen filmmaking.

Girl’s in the Director’s Chair was created by Fresh Films, which is sponsoring a national teen filmmaking program that is now accepting applications for its summer program.

Here are photos of Alba on the panel.
