Miley Cyrus admits she can’t play Hannah Montana forever

miley cyrus 180309

There has been a ton of gossip over the last year that Miley Cyrus doesn’t want to do her Hannah Montana shtick anymore. There were rumors that she and her dad Billy Ray were acting like divas on the set of the TV show in an attempt to get fired. But the dynamic Cyrus team clearly realized the bad publicity wouldn’t help them towards their ultimate goal (global tween domination) and changed their attitudes, putting on a full court PR press. It’s all about how much Miley loves the role, loves the show, loves Disney, etc. Though she did slip in that she obviously can’t be Hannah Montana forever.

Miley Cyrus hopes Hannah Montana: The Movie (out April 10) won’t be the last time people get to see her beloved Disney character.

“This movie was never meant to be the end of Hannah Montana,” she tells April’s Billboard magazine. “The thing is, a lot of people put where the show’s future lays in my hands — and it’s not up to me. It’s up to Disney and whether they want more episodes, and we hope that they do.” (A Disney Channel rep says the network is still considering the option to renew the show for a fourth season.)

Still, the 16-year-old — who recently released the memoir Miles to Go — says she has come to terms that her Hannah Montana days are winding down.

“It’s just an honor for people to be able to relate to me and my music — and not so much the character anymore,” she says. “I can’t be Hannah Montana forever. I have to have something after this. I can’t do this when I’m 30.”

[From Us Weekly]

I would love to see Hannah Montana at 30 and find out if she turns into the major skank I suspect she really is. Seriously though, is there any chance Disney wouldn’t renew the show for another season? I like how they’re playing all coy about it, and Miley’s acting like she’s so eager to please. When in fact they’re probably mailing her golden dollar bills (much better than gold or money alone – gold shaped into the form of money) and sending president/CEO Robert Iger over with a basket of mini muffins and tears streaming down his face. Please.

If Miley and Disney are smart, they’ll both bleed this thing dry. I really doubt she’s going to be able to transition into the adult market successfully. And Disney’s got a cash cow. Save your money honey – unless you really do want to play Hannah Montana: Senior Center Reunion.

Hannah Montana film says ‘no thanks’ to Dolly Parton

cyrus

Dolly Parton just got quite a slap in the face from the producers of the upcoming “Hannah Montana” film. They’d asked her if she’d reprise her role as Aunt Dolly, and she excitedly accepted. They didn’t say anything else to her, and lo and behold once the script came out, Parton discovered she wasn’t included.

It’s all over the Internet that Dolly Parton will be in the upcoming “Hannah Montana” movie, but Parton says she didn’t make the cut. “I’m not in the movie,” she said. “I wish I had been.”

According to Parton, producers had asked her early on if she would revisit her recurring TV role as Aunt Dolly in the film, due out April 10, starring teen sensation Miley Cyrus.

“I said I would love to! I assumed that they were gonna be writing me a part,” she said in a recent interview.

But her character was not included in the script.

Even though she’s disappointed, Parton said little kids still come up to her all the time, saying “Hi, Aunt Dolly!” The 63-year-old singer called doing the TV show “probably the best move” she’s ever made, since it introduced her to an entire new generation.

Parton is now blogging on her Web site and is active on her Facebook and MySpace pages.

“I feel like I came from the dark ages into the light ages. When I first started out, we didn’t even have electricity,” she said. “I was singing on TV before we even owned one. Now here I am in this high tech world. I don’t even know half of what the stuff means. But I’m on it.”

[From Pantagraph.com]

That stinks about not being included in the film, but at least Parton was able to take something good away from it. She has a vivacious, upbeat, infectious personality, and I’m not surprised that young kids would still get a kick out of her. It’s definitely been a good career move, all in all.

I can’t imagine why the “Hannah Montana” producers cut her part. Dolly seems like a consummate professional who people would want to work with. It’s probably nothing personal and came down to the film’s length or some other technical or business issue. Nonetheless… let’s hope the producers at least send an apology her way.

Cindy Crawford’s kids aren’t allowed to watch Hannah Montana

fp_1493559_crawford_cindy_fp_09_091408
This is a boycott I can get behind. Supermodel and mom Cindy Crawford recently said that she’s implemented a ban on Disney’s hit show “Hannah Montana” because she says it’s been teaching her seven-year-old some bad habits- namely, talking back to her mom.

Cindy Crawford has banned her daughter from watching Hannah Montana.

The supermodel believes Kaya, 7, will become “sassy” if she starts watching the Miley Cyrus-starring Disney show.

Cindy says, “I love Hannah Montana, but she (daughter) learns to be sassy from that show.

“I’ll say to her, ‘I don’t let anyone talk to me like that. I’ll certainly not take it from a seven year old in my own house.’”

[From ShowbizSpy]

My daughter has been banned from watching the show too – but for different reasons. First, it’s the most annoying children’s show on TV. Not since “Barney and Friends” has a show tortured me so much. Second, I just can’t stand all the hype and commercialism surrounding the show. Hannah Montana has become a public commodity – her toothy grin is on everything from cereal boxes and backpacks to string cheese and toothpaste- and it doesn’t stop there. There are dolls, CDs, and that 3D movie. I just don’t want my daughter getting sucked into that and becoming a consumer slave to the Hannah Montana Empire. Every time she asked me for some Hannah merchandise, all I could think was, “This is contributing to the Billy Ray Cyrus Hair Weave Fund!”

I really don’t think Miley Cyrus is much of a role model for my kid. I’d rather have her idolize someone who isn’t a phony. I think we all know where “little miss innocent” is heading with the 20-year-old boyfriend, slutty photos and massive bank account, don’t we? Yeah. Destination: Britney.

Miley Cyrus gets hacked again

Miley Cyrus has to learn to create a difficult password as well as she works it for the camera. Someone has broken into her you tube account and placed a ‘Miley is dead’ message. It reads:

Hey guys, this is Mandy and I have some very sad news :(

We’re very hurt to tell everyone this, but Miley died this morning after being hit by a drunk driver.

Miley told us if anything ever happened to her then we should let the fans know before the public.

R.I.P. honey, we will miss you so much.

Video has been removed from YouTube, but you can watch it here.

Is it common for death notices to feature a smiley?

There are some video claims that Miley did in fact have a car accident but wasn’t seriously injured also on YouTube (not in her account) but considering the fact she isn’t able to drive unsupervised yet I don’t think these claims are true. Paticularly in light of the fact that this rumor was started sometime early in September.

A person pretending to be a Reuters correspondent is circulating ‘Miley is dead’ reports, but unfortunately didn’t realize that generally, Reuters reporters can spell.

Actress Miley Cyrus Died in Terrible Car Accident

Teen star of the hit Disney television series “Hannah Montana” Miley Cyrus appears to have died in a tragic car accident in the early hours of Friday morning. The young starlet was on her way to the filiming [sic] of the upcoming “Hannah Montanna” [sic] Series when her vehicle was reportedly hit by a large truck. Witnesses estimate that the colliding vehicle was travelling [sic] at “At least 55mph” and had “Run a stop sign.” Although rushed in a [sic] critical condition to Pacific Alliance Medical Centre [sic], the news broke quickly amongst reporters that the teen had succumbed to her injuries during surgery.

Urban Legends

Miley isn’t dead, obviously, and hasn’t been injured in a car accident. Nor was she even involved in a car accident. I expect an official statement regarding her ‘death’ early Monday morning. She’ll continue to grace our screen as Hannah Montana and offend our ears via our tweenie friends for years to come.

Malia and Sasha Obama invited to appear on Hannah Montana

When you’re 7 and 10 years old the excitement of your dad becoming President of the United States might be a little lost on you. But being invited to appear on Hannah Montana is a whole other story. Malia and Sasha Obama, President Elect Barack and Michelle Obama’s daughters, have been invited to appear on the hit Disney show.

President-elect Barack Obama’s two young daughters have been invited to appear on popular kids television show “Hannah Montana,” actor Billy Ray Cyrus said an interview aired on Monday.

Cyrus, the father of “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus and also an actor on the hit Disney Channel show, said the show had asked Malia, 10, and Sasha Obama, 7, to take part in an episode possibly around April.

“They probably will. The invitation is there,” Cyrus told Access Hollywood in an interview. “You know the ‘Hannah Montana’ film comes out in April. Maybe something might happen around then.”

Pressed for details, Cyrus said; “I can’t, I can’t. I have got to keep a secret.”

[From Reuters]

Obama has mentioned that his girls are big fans of the popular tween show so I’m sure they’re freaking out right about now. But the next President and his wife haven’t said if the invitation will be accepted. The girls have been kept pretty sheltered from the media side of the circus that has surrounded their family for the last year, and that’s been done on purpose.

How would you explain to your pre-teen girls, who will be right in the midst of having their world turned upside down in April, that they can’t go be a part of a show they’re crazy about. Sasha and Malia appear to be very mature and well-raised young ladies, but no 7 and 10-year olds could be expected to be that understanding. On the other hand, it would be hard as a parent to let your young, impressionable daughters go hang out with Miley Cyrus.

Miley Cyrus gives a conflicted interview; Katy Perry wants to kiss her

I’m actually starting to feel a bit sorry for Miley Cyrus, although up until today I couldn’t stand her really irritating music and can’t believe how much of that Hannah Montana crap I bought for my teenage sister. My new sympathy is because the same week more photos of her have been leaked, she’s given an interview to TV Guide where she seems very confused, caught between her teenage self and her Disney child star image.

Firstly, she talks about wanting to stay a virgin until she’s married – this interview was done before the hacker ‘Trainreq’ claimed to have viewed, but conveniently forgot to save, emails where Miley says she had sex with a Jonas brother. No one has seen those emails, probably because they don’t exist.

The singer and actress wear a purity ring signifying her strong Christian faith and desire to remain a virgin until she marries.

She explained: “I like to think of myself as the girl that no-one can get, that no-one can keep in their hand. Even at my age, a lot of girls are starting to fall and I think if [staying a virgin] is a commitment girls make, that’s great.”

Girls are ‘falling’, by which I think she means they are having sex, unless she’s talking about falling on her ass as Disney kicks her to the curb. Her career will probably thrive if Disney does drop her for newcomers Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. Miley has a plan for her next career move, a ‘younger cleaner version’ of Sex and the City.

You know, I think Miley missed the point of the show, which is maybe a good thing because she’s not old enough to watch it anyway!

Then Miley seems to remember that she’s owned by Disney studios and drops this delicious line.

“I don’t dwell on the negativity. I want to be a positive role model, so we just try to keep [that stuff] as much not talked about as possible.”

All Quotes from TV Guide via Daily Telegraph

Do you feel a bit like she’s paying lip service here? It seems like there is no meaning behind it, it’s just something she’s saying?

Some one else who thinks Miley Cyrus might be good for her image is flavor of the month Katy Perry, who sings the song ‘I Kissed a Girl’. She says that she’d like to kiss Miley Cyrus In a Madonna-Britney style pash (why doesn’t anyone ever remember that Madonna kissed Christina Aguilera too?) admitting that while it wouldn’t do much for Miley’s career, ‘it would definitely help mine!’ Poor Miley, everyone wants a piece of her, although Katy’s offer is at least transparent.

Hannah Montana movie tickets sell out too (update)

The Hannah Montana movie is selling out and tickets are predictably becoming a hot commodity. The film is only in theaters for one week starting February 1 so it looks like they wanted to create a scarcity of tickets to add to the hype surrounding the Disney star:

Hundreds of showtimes are already sold out on Fandango and theater owners are constantly adding new ones, says Harry Medved, spokesman for Fandango, the nation’s largest movie ticketing service. The movie opens nationwide Feb. 1 and runs for one week only. Tickets went on sale Dec. 1 and can be purchased online or at the box office.

“We have 21 girls in our Girl Scout troop and I wanted to be able to offer it to all of them, thinking it would be great if we could go together,” said Patti Feurman, mother of two in Ridgefield, Conn. “It was impossible to get that many tickets for a single show. We all had to break up to try to find tickets and we are all at different showtimes.”

“Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” captures singing sensation Miley Cyrus during her 54-date tour. In the movie, Miley, 15, star of Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” series, performs as both a solo artist and as her television character, Hannah Montana. The movie is in Disney Digital 3D.

The concert movie was the No. 1 seller on MovieTickets.com its first week on sale, selling more on that Friday, Saturday and Sunday, than any other movies for the entire week, said Joel Cohen, MovieTickets.com’s executive vice president and general manager. He says the ticketing service has sold thousands of tickets each day since.

The film was 30 percent of the ticket sales on Fandango as of Thursday, right behind “Cloverfield,” which comes out Friday, and has consistently been a top-selling ticket on the site, says Medved. A Los Angeles movie theater had a 12:01 a.m. Feb. 1 showtime, with other theaters starting around 8 a.m. that day. The movie is playing in more than 600 theaters.

“It’s the best-selling concert movie in Fandango’s seven-year history,” said Rick Butler, chief operating officer of Fandango.

[From The Huffington Post]

This film was supposed to be a consolation prize for all the kids who didn’t get to go to the sold out concerts, but it’s only going to disappoint if it’s just out for a week. The Huffington Post notes that Disney refused to comment on why they decided to only put the film out for a week and that they also wouldn’t say if the film’s release will be extended.

They quote a communication professor as saying that it’s more like a television movie and that it’s common for smaller films to have a run of just one week. Tickets for the Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus concerts went for thousands of dollars on the black market so Disney must realize that the film is going to quickly sell out too.

There was a minor scandal with the teen star when it emerged that she was using a body double for a short time in her live concerts as she ended a song and started another to help ease her transition from Hannah Montana to Miley Cyrus. Miley’s people issued a statement confirming that a body double is used on stage for just one to two minutes, but stating that she performs live for the rest of the show.

Miley Cyrus is shown at the premiere of the “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus – Best of Both Worlds Concert” movie on 1/17/08, thanks to PRPhotos. The Jonas Brothers and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, are also shown. Is it just me or does she look kind of smug here? Cute dress though.

Update: Miley Cyrus has spoken out about Britney’s problems. It seems like some interviewer asked her specifically about Britney as US Weekly quotes her as telling Extra “I think it’s so crazy and I think that she [Britney] needs help. If I didn’t have [my family], I’d probably be in the same position. You just got to know who your true friends are, and I think for me, is my mom. If you have sisters, I mean any girls that are in your family, that can understand and relate to you, I think is the best.”

Miley has also apparently dyed her hair black, which I didn’t notice. She said “”I was just trying to get more into my rock and roll vibe.”
