Hayden Panettiere’s parents say nothing happened- it was all a ‘misunderstanding’

Yesterday, we reported on a domestic abuse call and arrest occurring between the parents of “Heroes” actress Hayden Panettiere. According to TMZ, who spoke with the arresting officers, Alan Panettiere struck his wife in the face three times with a closed fist, and Lesley Panettiere herself called the police, who arrested Alan. Now that he’s out on bail, both Alan and Lesley have been talking to Extra’s Mario Lopez (gag) and insist that nothing happened. They say there was no incident, and that not only did Lesley not call the cops, but didn’t know her husband was arrested. Huh?

Lesley and Alan told Mario Lopez, “Nothing actually happened.” Explained Mario, “In fact, Lesley wasn’t even aware that Skip had been arrested. Hayden found out about her dad’s arrest when he called her from jail. They love each other very much and want everyone to know that the matter was completely blown out of proportion.”

Alan was busted at their home for allegedly hitting Lesley on the cheek and leaving a visible mark. It’s been reported that they had quarreled earlier in the evening at an event at Eva Longoria’s restaurant, Beso.

[From ExtraTV.com]

If nothing happened, then why did the cops arrest Alan? Why was there a police report? Why were there “visible marks” that warranted the police to take photos? I may not be an expert but I do know that marks don’t just appear magically on someone’s face. I really hope that Lesley Panettiere isn’t dropping the charges out of fear, or because she doesn’t want to harm her daughter’s career. Unfortunately, that happens all too often in domestic abuse cases. The batterer swears he’ll never do it again, it was just this one time, etc. I hope the police put Lesley in touch with a support group or counselor- because if he gets away with it once, he’ll do it again. Count on it.

Also, Mario Lopez is an idiot.

Hayden Panettiere’s parents involved in domestic dispute

Many have been calling Heroes star Hayden Panettiere the next Lindsay Lohan, and it looks like the first step down that path has been taken in the form of her publicly feuding parents. Hayden and her mom and dad attended a party at Beso restaurant last night, looking like the happy family; but when they returned home, Hayden’s father allegedly struck mom Lesley and the police were called.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Alan and Lesley Panettiere were at a party earlier in the evening. We’re told Alan was upset because Lesley was “hanging” with someone at the shindig and he felt she was “disrespecting” him.

Sources say, according to Lesley’s statement to Sheriffs, the couple went home, began arguing and he struck her in the cheek. We’re told cops took pictures and there are visible marks.

Paramedics advised her she should go to the hospital but she refused. Alan did not give a statement to the police. It’s unclear if any of their kids were at the house at the time of the incident.

[From TMZ]

It’s disappointing that the Panettieres are turning out to be another textbook pair of Hollywood parents. It happened to Macaulay Culkin’s parents; Britney Spears’ parents and of course the Lohans. The kid gets famous and all of the sudden the parents lose their minds. Add that to the fact that Hayden dresses like a 25 year old, is dating a 30 year old and is already fancying herself as a pop singer, and the similarities between her and Lohan are really starting to pile up. Hopefully we won’t be reading about her DUI or trip to rehab next.

Hayden Panettiere buys $2.6 million home

Hayden Panettiere is a mere 18 years old, but already she’s done something most of us can only dream of: purchase multi-million dollar luxury real estate. As though I didn’t hate her enough, with her hot boyfriend and dolphin saving.

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere is still in her teens, but she can already afford million-dollar digs! The 18-year-old just purchased a $2.6 million contemporary home in LA with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a pool. But she won’t be living in the 3,120-square-foot mansion alone.

“My best friend is moving in with me for a year,” she said during a July 15 radio interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest. And her family is nearby, too. “My parents are down the street,” Hayden told E! online. The Heroes star is releasing her first album later this year. The songs are “eclectic,” she says. “I spent the summer buying furniture,” she says.

[From In Touch]

Okay so Hayden bought a house and spent the last three months buying furniture. That’s pretty much my dream summer. Yes I know I have depth.

Hayden says she does plan on doing a bit of partying, telling Showbiz Spy, “”So it’s not like I’m living in this house, partying by myself.’ When asked if she is planning to host frequent parties in the property, Hayden replied: “Oh, yeah. I have this big living room and I have this 14ft by 14ft couch. I fill pretty much the whole room with it and it’s kind of the hangout spot. It’s comfy and people can make a mess in the room.’”

It’s probably unhealthy to be this jealous of an eighteen year old.

Hayden Panettiere has a new single and music video

Hayden Panettiere loudly proclaimed that she wanted to be a pop star, and my goodness she stuck to her guns. Despite a mounting heap of evidence that she shouldn’t have. I really like Hayden. I don’t watch her show, but I appreciate that she doesn’t go out clubbing and DUIing every night like a lot of other actresses her age. And she is super passionate about dolphins. Not normally something that makes me change my opinion about someone, but I like that she actually has something to say.

So Hayden vowed to become a music star, and unfortunately it appears that she’s too hot for any producers to have said no. Which they should have. If there’s any young starlet that I would wish to have a successful crossover musical career, I guess it’d be Hayden. But I don’t think that’s going to happen, even with a lot of the successful but generic pop music out there these days.

Hayden’s first single, “Wake Up Call,” is pretty bad in my opinion. Her voice is obviously digitally altered a la Paris Hilton. In fact she sounds nearly the same. There’s a reggae-esq backbeat that doesn’t really work with the lyrics or tone of the song. The video is pretty much different angles of Hayden over and over again. Hayden bares her thong. Hayden lounges around. Hayden pulls up her pants. Hayden wears dark makeup in a club. Honestly, considering the resources I assume she has access to, I’m surprised the whole thing came out so bland and generic.

It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but I doubt it’ll go anywhere. It’s not Heidi Montag-level embarrassing, but I’m guessing in 20 years Hayden’s going to deny that she had anything to do with this.

Milo Ventimiglia spotted ring shopping for girlfriend Hayden Panettiere

In Touch magazine claims that Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia, 31, is going to ask girlfriend and co-star Hayden Panettiere, 18, to marry him. The couple haven’t been publicly dating all that long, since Hayden only became legal last August. But it was widely rumored that they were together for a while before that. If she wasn’t so young, I’d probably say they seem cute and happy together, best of luck, etc.

Don’t tell Hayden Panettiere, but her boyfriend, Milo Ventimiglia, is planning to propose! The actor, 31, recently confided to a friend that even though Hayden is only 18 years old, he wants to get engaged, preferably this year. “Milo was looking at rings in late June,” the pal says. “He really likes Cartier and intends to spend around $200,000.” Hayden and Milo, who met on the set of Heroes, reportedly began dating in January.

[From In Touch]

I think January is when they actually kinda sorta acknowledged that they were seeing each other. I will admit that Hayden seems a lot more mature than most of the other girls her age in Hollywood. You don’t see her out tramping around like Paris/Britney/Lindsay. She goes out to dinner and shops and does all that other photographer-friendly stuff, but she’s never photographed falling out of clubs drunk, and I’m pretty sure she has yet to rack up any DUIs.

All that said, she’s still 18. Being more mature than Paris Hilton doesn’t make a person ready for marriage. If so, my cats could have gotten hitched years ago. 18 is still 18, and that’s damn young to commit your life to someone, no matter how great they are. I doubt Hayden’s had all that many boyfriends besides Milo. It makes sense that he’s probably ready to get married at his age, but even if she thinks she is, it’d probably be best if they gave it some time. Maybe he’s just getting her a promise ring or something else more age-appropriate.

Hayden Panettiere wants to become a pop music star

You’re no one in Hollywood unless you have a second career as a “designer” or are “working on an album.” I won’t even call most of the celebrities who have second careers in music musicians. Even with quotation marks, it’s still too offensive. The holy grail is getting all three. The list of celebs who have supposedly designed clothing lines is ridiculously long. By and large they didn’t design a thing, everyone has just replaced the word “endorsed” with “design.” Singing is a little harder to fudge – though computers sure can help.

Hayden Panettiere has jumped on the bandwagon and decided to join the ranks of other actors who struggle for musical credibility.

Hayden Panettiere is ready to work her vocal cords. She signed a deal with Hollywood Records before her Heroes TV show became a big hit and now she is ready to devote her time to working on a pop career.

Her new reggae-flavored song – Wake Up Call – has been written by Andreas ‘Quiz’ Romdhane and Josef Larossi, who have previously churned out hits for Halliwell, Diana Ross and Westlife.

She has also been working with U.S. fashion brand Candie’s, who will feature the track in a new summer ad campaign. The company will also pay for the star to shoot a video to accompany the tune.

The ad campaign will begin at the end of July, while the song will be released digitally Aug. 5. “Wake Up Call” will appear on Panettiere’s still-untitled debut album, which is slated for 2009.

[From Daily Stab]

I used to dislike Hayden, but then she got all “save the dolphins” and actually walked the walk – something you can’t say for most celebs. So I guess if there’s any celeb I’d grant my magical good wishes to, it’d be her. But I can’t help but wonder about the wisdom of releasing a reggae song. We’ll see.

Hayden Panettiere goes to great lengths to hide, calls going out “a nightmare”

18 year-old Heroes star Hayden Panettiere will appear in the upcoming film “Fireflies in The Garden” with Julia Roberts. She has what could be a new interview with the Sunday Mirror, but they don’t say they actually talked to her and it could be one of those pieced together stories where they just take bits and pieces of things she’s said to other outlets, rephrase them slightly, and slap up a story and hope no one will notice.

Hayden supposedly said that she doesn’t go out, that she hides from the paparazzi, and that she finds living in LA and dealing with the “business… very intrusive.”

‘I don’t ever go out,’ she says, of her life in Hollywood, where she drives everywhere to avoid being recognised on the street. ‘I stay at home. I go from garage to garage, and keep myself out of sight.’ The 18-year-old, who has been catapulted into the A-list since taking on the role of cheerleader Claire Bennet in the top-rated US drama, admits she finds being famous ‘a pain in the ass’.

‘I love where I live and that I have wonderful friends there and I love what I do, but it really has a major impact on your life. This business is very intrusive. People want to know what you’re doing every day, and it becomes less about your craft and your art, and your love for acting, than it is about when you put food in your mouth, or when you’re walking your dog…

‘The interesting thing to me is, if you think about it, the glamour of Hollywood has been dimmed down by people that don’t necessarily love what they do or their craft,’ she says. ‘I think people who are mainly in the public eye and deal with this [attention], a lot of them like it and enjoy it. I don’t really enjoy going out, it’s a nightmare in my opinion.’

[From Sundaymirror.co.uk]

I don’t want to knock Hayden, because I have a high opinion of her after she did drop out of the spotlight and started pursuing her own interests like animal protection and activism. But a year ago she really bugged the shit out of me, because it was like she was everywhere. In fact she was out at practically every event, she went to Koi and Mr. Chow regularly, and she was even rumored to have been calling the paps herself to alert them to her whereabouts.

She may not be a hypocrite by saying that it all bugs her now, and it really does seem like she matured and realized that being an attention whore was not productive or rewarding for her. You have to give the girl credit for evolving and growing as a person, unlike some other obvious drunken attention-seeking examples. But maybe Hayden should have a little more perspective on the way that fame and those same events and photographers helped her before she trash talks the way they invade her life now.

Hayden Panettiere is shown at the Humane Society Genesis Awards, where she was presented with an award for her activism, on 4/2/08, thanks to Splash News.

Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards: Too Much Miley, Not Enough Harrison Ford

If you have children, you were probably subjected to Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kid’s Choice Awards ceremony on Saturday night. You have my sincerest condolences. I, too, had to watch, and it was often eyeroll-inducing: lame banter between celebrity presenters; boring and unfunny “behind the scenes” skits; stupid slime stunts that dragged out the show even longer and wayyyy too much Disney product, in the form of Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. Miley Cyrus won favorite female television star and favorite female musical artist, much to my daughter’s delight.

There were a few bright spots in the broadcast, including host Jack Black’s over-the-top opening musical number, in which he wore a bright green superhero costume and rocked out with a giant octopus playing guitar to the Kiss song “I Was Made for Loving You,” with the lyrics changed to “I Was Made for Sliming You.” (In my opinion, Black was the only funny, high-energy part of the show and should have been allowed to riff and get crazy even more.) The theme of each Kids’ Choice Awards, you see, is that celebs and kids in the audience get buckets of green slime poured on their heads at random moments. Slimed celebs included Harrison Ford, who recreated a famous scene from “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” which concluded with him being covered in green slime. Other mildly amusing segments included a celebrity belching contest that featured Jodie Foster attempting to burp along to the song “YMCA.”

All in all, the show had the same problems as most other awards shows: it went on too long, there was too much unfunny dialog, and the host didn’t get enough chances to do what he does best. But if you are at all interested in the winners, here they are.

Favorite TV Show: Drake and Josh
Favorite Reality Show: American Idol
Favorite TV Actor: Drake Bell (from Drake and Josh)
Favorite TV Actress: Miley Cyrus
Favorite Cartoon: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Favorite Movie: Alvin and the Chipmunks
Favorite Movie Actor: Johnny Depp
Favorite Movie Actress: Jessica Alba
Favorite Animated Movie: Ratatouille
Favorite Animated Voice: Eddie Murphy (Shrek The Third)
Favorite Music Group: The Jonas Brothers
Favorite Song: “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne
Favorite Female Singer: Miley Cyrus
Favorite Male Singer: Chris Brown
Favorite Male Athlete: Tony Hawk
Favorite Female Athlete: Danica Patrick
Favorite Book: Harry Potter Series
Favorite Video Game: Madden NFL 2008
Wannabe Award: Cameron Diaz

If anything, the Kids’ Choice Awards gives parents a glimpse into the music, movies, and other pop culture their kids like– which should scare the crap out of you. I know I had a hard time sleeping knowing that the youth of America wants to be just like Cameron Diaz.

Milo Ventimiglia says “Halo” nickname for Hayden and him makes him smile

GQ has a new spread and brief interview with Milo Ventimiglia. The photo section features the hot “Heroes” star in city and office settings wearing thousand dollar designer suits by Versace, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. He looks like a conniver in this photoshoot, like the type of guy you would want to sleep with for a week or two but who would be too slick to make a decent boyfriend.

In the accompanying interview, Milo, 30, doesn’t acknowledge that he’s in a relationship with his 18 year-old co-star, Hayden Panettiere, but he does say that the nickname for their relationship, “Halo,” makes him smile, and that he tries not to talk about his personal life. This is a departure from an interview he recently gave Cosmopolitan Magazine, in which he called himself single for the last year and a half and talked about the perils of dating:

Halo. That’s what the blogs are calling you and Hayden. Does that bug you?
You know what, man – it makes me smile.

If you two are dating, why not just say so? I read you bought the girl a ring from Tiffany’s!

When you’re in the public eye, you try to keep whatever you can private. People can speculate and talk. But what can you do – stop living your life?

Hayden was GQ’s Obsession of the Year. Did you like those photos?
Yes, I did. They were very nice.

[From GQ Magazine, print edition, April, 2008]

In the most recent issue of Cosmopolitan, Milo’s maybe-girlfriend Hayden says she has to date guys who aren’t threatened by her job. She said “I need somebody who is very secure. In this business, I’m constantly standing next to gorgeous people. My job is to make out with [attractive] men. Like, hello, who wouldn’t be completely threatened by that? But at the end of the day, you have to realize that it’s just a job.”

Hayden also said that she doesn’t drink and is a “pizza-and-a-movie girl,” and that she’s secure with her body the way it is. She said she doesn’t have a model’s body but that “I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m okay with what I have. I can rock this body, you know?” [via Just Jared]

There are all sorts of rumors that these two are set to move in together after Hayden was spotting looking at condos with her mom. Maybe she’s just ready to move out of her parent’s place and isn’t about to move in with her boyfriend yet.

Hayden and Milo will pose together while they’re doing press for “Heroes,” but both have stayed wisely mum on their relationship.

Thanks to Stacie for these scans.

Milo Ventimiglia calls himself single despite hanging out with Hayden Panettiere

milohayden.jpg
In the March issue of Cosmopolitan, hunky “Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia, 30, is interviewed for the mag’s “Informer” section, but don’t count on any information about the actor’s love life, especially the status of his relationship with co-star Hayden Panettiere, 18. In fact, a “factoid” text box that overlays the actor’s yummy photo shoot identifies him as “single,” and in the interview, he tells the reporter, “I’ve been single for a year and a half.”

Do you get nervous on dates?

Yes. I’ve been single for a year and a half. It’s tough being witty for two hours.

Have friends tried to set you up?

Yeah, someone thinks you’d look “cute” together, but you share no interests and become combative [on a date]. You just wish you were home, scrubbing your toilet.

[From Cosmopolitan, March 2008 print issue]

Somebody needs to let Hayden Panettierre in on that little nugget, because she is clearly under the impression that Milo is her boyfriend. The couple have been seen everywhere holding hands, hugging and definitely behaving in a way that is not consistent with that whole “We’re just good friends” line of crap Milo has been feeding the press for months. At a recent party hosted by Candies shoes, for which Hayden is a spokesmodel, Milo went as Hayden’s date to show his support. And I’m no psychic, but he sure didn’t look like he would rather be home scrubbing his toilet.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Milo and Hayden are shown in the header image at a Lifetime Achievement Award presentation to Stan Lee Featuring the cast of “Heroes” on 12/15/07, thanks to PRPhotos.
