Milo Ventimiglia calls himself single despite hanging out with Hayden Panettiere

milohayden.jpg
In the March issue of Cosmopolitan, hunky “Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia, 30, is interviewed for the mag’s “Informer” section, but don’t count on any information about the actor’s love life, especially the status of his relationship with co-star Hayden Panettiere, 18. In fact, a “factoid” text box that overlays the actor’s yummy photo shoot identifies him as “single,” and in the interview, he tells the reporter, “I’ve been single for a year and a half.”

Do you get nervous on dates?

Yes. I’ve been single for a year and a half. It’s tough being witty for two hours.

Have friends tried to set you up?

Yeah, someone thinks you’d look “cute” together, but you share no interests and become combative [on a date]. You just wish you were home, scrubbing your toilet.

[From Cosmopolitan, March 2008 print issue]

Somebody needs to let Hayden Panettierre in on that little nugget, because she is clearly under the impression that Milo is her boyfriend. The couple have been seen everywhere holding hands, hugging and definitely behaving in a way that is not consistent with that whole “We’re just good friends” line of crap Milo has been feeding the press for months. At a recent party hosted by Candies shoes, for which Hayden is a spokesmodel, Milo went as Hayden’s date to show his support. And I’m no psychic, but he sure didn’t look like he would rather be home scrubbing his toilet.

Hayden Panettiere joins Save the Whales rally

I have to admit that when I first heard about Hayden Panettiere and her whole saving whales from Japanese fisherman thing, I wasn’t really all that impressed. Hayden and a group called Save the Whales used a surfboard to paddle into a cove in southwestern Japan near Taiji where dolphins were being corralled to be slaughtered and eaten. The group was blocked by a fishing boat and had to turn back. Unusual publicity stunt, right? Especially after those pictures of her crying were plastered all over the news. But hearing Panettiere talk about it over time, it because pretty clear to me that she not only cared about saving whales, but was incredibly passionate about it. As a result of her activities, a warrant was issued for her arrest in Japan. Hayden hasn’t backed down, and this past weekend joined a protest in Washington DC to stop whale hunting.

The 18-year-old Heroes star, speaking without notes, told the crowd, “Not only are these animals being cruelly slaughtered, the meat is contaminated by huge levels of mercury,” reports The Washington Post’s Reliable Source column, which likened the Heroes star to a latter-day Jane Fonda – though less politically controversial. Continued Panettiere at the rally: “And we’re not taking a stand because Japan is one of our biggest allies in the war on terror, but Australia is an ally and they’ve told Japan what they think, and good on them!”

As for her confronting Japanese fisherman last fall, to protest the killing of dolphins – the incident let to a warrant for her arrest – Panettiere told the crowd at the rally: “I was wearing a wetsuit and shoes. I was like if I’m going to jail I ain’t going to jail in a bikini.” Panettiere, spokesperson for the Save the Whales Again! Campaign, added: “At one point this baby [dolphin] popped its head up and looked at me. To know what was going to happen and to know that I couldn’t stop it is just such a helpless feeling.

[From People]

Today Hayden Panettiere and Save the Whales will take their campaign to the Norwegian, Japanese, and Icelandic embassies. Hayden also created a charity, Panettiere’s Closet, where she sells her clothing and accessories Heroes. The money is donated to the Whaleman Foundation. I’ve been waiting for Hayden Panettiere to turn into Lindsay Lohan. It just seemed like an inevitability, and she has a stage mom who’s supposedly worse than Dina Lohan. As soon as Panettiere turned 18 she was out and about with much older Heroes costar Milo Ventimiglia. I figured it was a matter of weeks before she was in rehab. But instead she and Milo seem to have a pretty stable, sane relationships, and she’s risked her life to help save helpless animals. It seems like she’s proving you can be an actress, have fun and be popular with the tabloids, but still be a decent person who cares about things bigger than photo ops. Good for her.

Hayden Panettiere Opens Up Her Closet

Hayden Panettiere is selling her clothes. She’s offering up some dresses, a pair of shoes, a few hoodies, a watch or two and even some iPod covers. Why? To help save the whales.

Hayden last year was involved in trying to help save a pod of dolphins, when she went to Japan with a group of Australian surfers and tried to prevent the animals from being blocked into a cove and killed. Unfortunately the attempt failed and Hayden left in tears. The dolphins are also caught and sold off for placement in captivity and television shows, as well as being a food delicacy in Japan.

Now we need to save the whales, just like in the eighties, as they are still being killed for ‘scientific purposes’. Which is code for ‘dinner’.

The Heroes starlet’s website explains her fundraising plan, which allows fans to shop online and purchase her clothes.

It states: “Can you look good and help a worthwhile cause at the same time? Yes, you can!”

“Many have hailed Hayden Panettiere for her impeccable taste in fashion. Now you can wear what the celebrities wear at a fraction of the cost–WHILE supporting a worthy cause! Looking good never felt so good!”

Daily Telegraph

She has some really cute looking hoodies, and some cute shoes. She actually includes size charts and other information, because the clothes are meant to be worn again, they aren’t just fan merchandise. How awesome is that? Of course, not many of us have a figure like Hayden…

The clothes are mostly in a ladies size small, but apparently more styles and sizes are going to become available. You can also donate money.

According to reports, Hayden is considering another cheerleader role, in which she shows a class nerd the night of his life after he declares his love for her during his valedictorian speech. Has this ever happened in real life?

Note by Celebitchy: You can buy Hayden’s clothes at PanettiereCloset.com. Many of the items are sold so hurry if you’re interested. Thanks to PanettiereCloset for the photos below. Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia are shown on 12/15/07 at The Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Stan Lee and the cast of “Heroes” was there. Hayden Panetteire loving the single life

18 year-old Heroes hottie and would-be dolphin saver Hayden Panetteire is probably no longer dating her older co-star, Milo Ventimiglia. Milo was said to have given Hayden a $1,950 gold ring for her birthday, and although the two claim to only be friends, who gives their opposite sex friends expensive jewelry like that?

Hayden has been spotted out on the town looking cosy with not one but two guys recently, Diana Ross’ son Evan and singer Ne-Yo. Maybe she’s just being flirty, or perhaps she’s trying to make Milo jealous, as neither seems to have moved into the realm of romance. Ne-Yo told People magazine he’s just friends with Hayden, and says they only met recently. He claims he was holding her hands to help her walk in her painful shoes, and he dismisses the romance rumors, saying they met doing charity work, that he barely knows her, and that she’s “silly”

“Hayden and I just met yesterday. We’ve only known each other for one day,” Ne-Yo told PEOPLE at the Ronald McDonald House Charity’s World Children’s Day event Tuesday, where Panettiere, 18, also made an appearance. “She was hanging out with some friends and invited me to come out.”

As for the hand holding, “I was helping her out of the car!” says the singer, 28. “She had these shoes – they were cute – but they were torture devices, so I had to help her.”

The duo only spent 48-hours together as they toured Ronald McDonald Houses in Dallas, Detroit, Philadelphia, and New York, but they definitely hit it off. “I’m a fan of Hayden’s show Heroes, so I was excited to know she was going to do this with me,” the singer continued. “Hayden is cool people. She’s a little silly. But silly is good.”

[From People.com]

R&B singer Ne-Yo said he would help Hayden on her first album, which is in progress, and that they’ve talked about a possible collaboration.

Meanwhile Hayden was quite friendly with Evan Ross at a recent party:

“Heroes” star Hayden, 18, spotted the hunky 20-year-old [Evan Ross] and headed straight for him at a party in Los Angeles on November 13, an eyewitness tells The Enquirer.

“The were sitting really close to each other and looked very flirty, whispering in each other’s ears and giggling,” said the eyewitness…

And while Hayden’s rep says she and Evan are just friends, the eyewitness adds: “You could tell they were really enjoying each other’s company…”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, December 3, 2007]

Good for her. Hayden’s not heading off to hotel rooms or drinking herself into oblivion, she’s engaged in some harmless flirting at parties and while doing charity work. I used to find Hayden annoying and didn’t cover her for a long time. She was rumored to be personally calling the paps to tip them off as to her whereabouts, and she seemed to be desperate for attention last year, showing up at all the hot spots. She seems to have matured quite a bit this year.

Hayden was named “obsession of the year” by GW Magazine, and denies a relationship with her co-star Milo Ventimiglia in the accompanying interview. She says that there are rumors that she’s dating every man she hangs out with, and says that it’s fine with her if she’s rumored to be dating Hollywood elite, including women. Here are the photos from the issue, thanks to PopSugar. Thanks to Splash News for the header photo of Hayden and Ne-Yo.

Japanese issue arrest warrant for Hayden Panettiere

haydendolphinsheader.jpg

Little Hayden Panettiere went to Japan last month in order to save some dolphins from getting slaughtered. Don’t get mad at me for calling her little, she looks like she’s twelve. It actually seemed like a surprisingly noble and brave thing to do, and considering what most celebrities do to get attention, I’d take saving a dolphin any day. Hayden joined the group Save the Whales and used a surfboard to paddle into a cove in southwestern Japan near Taiji. The dolphins were being corralled into the cove to be slaughtered and eaten. While the group did their best, they were blocked by a fishing boat and had to turn back. Hayden was videotaped crying pretty hard afterwards. I admire her bravery, not many 18-year-olds would do something like that. The group left Japan right away to avoid being arrested, but a warrant has been issued for Panettiere.

Hayden Panettiere’s heroic dolphin-saving mission last month wasn’t without its consequences. “I learned that they have an arrest warrant out for me in Japan,” the Heroes star told E! News exclusively Wednesday. “We just found out.” Panettiere, 18, was part of a convoy of activists from the U.S. and Australia who on Oct. 30 paddled out on surfboards to protest the annual slaughter of dolphins and whales by Japanese fisherman.

Her group attempted to reach a pod of dolphins before it was driven into a nearby cove and massacred, but they were blocked by a fishing boat before they could reach the sea creatures. “It was really frightening,” Panettiere said at the time. “But in the end, all we really worried about was the dolphins.” After returning to shore, the group headed directly to Osaka and left the country to avoid being arrested for trespassing by the Japanese national police.

Now it looks like the scare’s not quite over for the actress. When asked what the arrest warrant could mean, Panettiere replied, “Potentially jail, but I doubt it. I guess they could come here and get us, but probably not.” She said she was thrilled that the incident was receiving international attention, as it could result in educating others about the dolphins’ plight.

[From E! News]

I doubt the Japanese have nothing better to do than actually arrest Hayden Panettiere, but who the hell knows. Hayden’s a little mistaken in her worry that they “could come here and get us.” They could try to extradite her, but again I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t work out so well. I would think the arrest warrant being issued was more a formality and a response to her breaking the law. In Washington state animal rights activists have been protesting for years about the Native American Makah tribe’s annual whale hunt. Protesters have been arrested but generally not charged for trying to interfere with it. No matter what, it’s pretty cool that Hayden was willing to stick her neck out there and actually do something instead of just writing a check.

Hayden Panettiere cries at failing to save dolphins from slaughter

Hayden Panettiere went to Japan to try and physically save some bottle-nosed dolphins from slaughter. She was with a group of surfers from Australia and the US who paddled out on surfboards while dolphins were being corralled into a cove where they would be killed. Dolphins are a delicacy in Japan and their meat is highly valued. They are also sold off to the captivity industry for use in “swim with the dolphins” programs and dolphin shows.

Unfortunately Hayden did not successfully prevent the slaughter after fishing boats blocked her attempt.

Panettiere, 18, recently paddled out on a surfboard in an effort to prevent a group of dolphins from being steered into a nearby cove and massacred, Sky News reported Wednesday.

She and a handful of other surfers from Australia and the United States were blocked by a fishing boat before they could reach the dolphins.

Faced with the ship’s propellers and boathooks, the surfers returned to the beach.

It is believed the dolphins were later slaughtered.

“It was really frightening,” Panettiere told Sky News. “It was so incredibly sad. We were so close to them and they were sky hopping, jumping out of the water to see us. … One little baby dolphin stuck his head out and kind of looked at me and the thought that it’s no longer with us is really hard to take.”

[From UPI]

Hayden’s new boyfriend, her Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia, is a vegetarian and he may have influenced her decision to take on this cause.

Here’s a link to an incredibly sad video about how the dolphins are killed in Japan. Warning: I didn’t post it here because it’s very graphic and hard to watch.

I’m a meat and fish eater and usually support causes other than animal rights, but the brutal and cruel way these sentient, gentle animals are killed makes me so upset. Hayden may have failed in her attempt to save that group of dolphins, but she has brought awareness to a very barbaric practice that needs to be stopped. Before Hayden took on this cause I was not aware that dolphins were slaughtered in Japan. Although Hayden has pretty much annoyed me up until this point, I have to say I have a newfound respect for her now.

You can learn more about how you can help save Japan’s dolphins at SaveJapanDolphins.org.

Hayden Panettiere Receives A Ring From Milo Ventimiglia

The Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia conspiracy continues! For her “18th birthday” Milo, 30, bought his fellow “Heroes” co-star and rumored girlfriend a $1,950 gold ring. The two deny dating and claim to be simply super good friends.

“According to an insider, Milo, 30, gave Hayden an 18-karat yellow-gold ring – worth $1,950 – from the famed jewelers as a belated birthday present, since she turned 18 in late August. The ring, called Somerset Heart, features a woven band and a heart, and according to the insider, is inscribed, “Sweet like Hayden.”

[In Touch Weekly via Perez Hilton]

The large age gap between the two has sparked a bit of an “ewww” factor at the mention of dating. After they appeared to be cozy at several different events the dating rumor mill began to turn. At the Governor’s Ball after party the NY Daily News reported that Milo cut Hayden’s meat at dinner. After the weird meat cutting the two danced as Hayden shook her money maker and “grazed Milo’s face with her hand.” Reps for both camps vehemently deny any romance between the two. Some find the belated birthday gift of a ring from Tiffany and Co. to speak for itself. Not to mention Milo’s comments before her birthday.

“Back in December, Hayden told USA Today that Milo was “like the big brother” on the set, explaining, “He’ll always raise an eye when he passes to let me know he’s watching, and that makes me laugh.” As for Ventimiglia, when the paper asked what he found “attractive” about the actress, he quipped, “Ask me Aug. 21 [Panettiere's 18th birthday], and I’ll tell you a zillion things.”

Picture note by Celebitchy: Hayden and Milo Ventimiglia are shown at the “Heroes” Season One DVD release on 8/29/07, thanks to Splash News.
