Michael Lohan suffers a heart attack
Michael Lohan outside Beso restaurant in Hollywood

Michael Lohan was rushed to the hospital yesterday with chest pain, and his spokesperson/girlfriend/drunken ex-Jon Gosselin hookup, Kate Major, claims that he suffered a heart attack. As Michael K. at D-Listed reports, you just know that Lohan is going to use this as an excuse to spout off to any celebrity outlet that will pay his fee. He doesn’t have any phone tapes left to sell and he’s going to capitalize on his medical issue. That’s not to say that I don’t wish him a full recovery, I just don’t want to hear from the guy ever again. He’s a nasty person who picks fights with everyone he’s ever claimed to care about. Don’t they say that you’re supposed to avoid stress and strife after a heart attack? I would imagine that a prolonged petty legal battle with your ex would only add to that.

Lindsay Lohan’s dad had a heart attack today, according to his girlfriend/non-doctor Kate Major.

Michael Lohan was taken to a hospital in New York after suffering chest pains that radiated to his arms. Kate says an EKG showed evidence of a heart attack.

Kate says Michael is at St. Francis Hospital in Manhasset. She says Michael will undergo a “procedure” but wasn’t specific.

Back on March 6, Michael suffered chest pains and was told by his doctor that he needed a heart catheterization.

[From TMZ]

A near death experience isn’t going to change Michael Lohan. He’ll just use this heart attack as an excuse to fuel his anger at every perceived slight brought on by his insufferable personality. Fingers crossed that he goes away for a long time to a spiritual retreat in a remote area without Internet access or cell phone reception.

Harry Smith gets a live colonoscopy on The Early Show

Watch CBS News Videos Online
Warning: this shows the inside of the colon during the procedure
It’s colorectal cancer awareness month (and national nutrition month, so eat your veggies!) and Early Show host Harry Smith is doing his part. He had a live colonoscopy this morning on The Early Show, and fellow hostess Maggie Rodriguez noted that “he’s the first anchor to have this done live on network TV,” as if that’s something we’d ever expect to see! In all seriousness, it’s an important health screening procedure that can save lives. Smith was accompanied to his colonoscopy by CBS Evening News anchor Kate Couric, who lost her husband in 1998 to colon cancer when he was just 42. Katie herself had a colonoscopy that was aired in March, 2000, which may have contributed to an over 20% increase in people seeking the procedure. Katie’s colonoscopy wasn’t live, though, so now we have Harry Smith making television history.

While I didn’t expect the actual colonoscopy procedure to be shown on television they did show it! I had one years ago and was blissfully unaware of anything that was going on, but Harry was conscious toward the end. He even sat up and talked during the procedure! They showed the inside of his colon while Kate Couric narrated and called it “clean as a whistle.” I’ve seen more graphic stuff on CSI, but seeing the inside of Harry’s colon turned my stomach. The doctor even showed where the blue part of his liver was visible through the colon.

Smith, 58, got a clean bill of health afterwards. I know I’m due for another colonoscopy soon and that I’ve spoken to my loved ones about getting them. By showing there’s nothing to be afraid of, Smith and Couric are doing a great service. Colonoscopies are recommended around every 10 years for older adults depending on what your doctor advises. Nearly 147,000 people were diagnosed with colorectal cancer last year and almost 50,000 people died from it. Good for Katie and Harry for raising awareness of this important procedure.

Here’s a link to the longer video of Smith’s colonoscopy prep and results. You can also learn more on CBS.com.

Liz Hurley’s diet: no coffee, one meal a day & vodka

wenn5381250

Generally, I’m pretty “meh” on Elizabeth Hurley. I think she’s very pretty, I think she tries too hard, and I think she gets a bad rap about a lot of things, some of it deserved, some of it not so much. Liz is out promoting her new line of organic food, from her new organic farm in England, that her Indian billionaire husband bought her. So Liz is doing what she does best, which is a little self-promotion. But it sort of went off the rails - Liz admits that to keep her model figure in check, she’s had to cut out wine and coffee. Now, she says, she just drinks vodka. And she only eats one meal a day. Damn. That’s not right.

Her perfectly toned body is the envy of every yummy-mummy.

But at the age of 44, Liz Hurley has confessed how she has been forced to adopt a more extreme dietary plan to keep her famously svelte figure.

Miss Hurley has revealed how she has had to cut out coffee and wine from her diet. Now, instead of enjoying a glass of claret when she is at a social gathering, the model and actress has turned to vodka to keep her midriff trim.

Asked whether she missed wine, she said: ‘No, I don’t miss having a glass of wine because I’ve switched to vodka. I don’t really like vodka that much but if I’m at a party I have a small one with a lot of fizzy water and a huge squeeze of lime. Initially it’s like medicine but I’ve got used to it now.’

Miss Hurley, who lives in Gloucestershire-with husband Arun Nayar and her seven-year-old son Damian, admitted: ‘I used to drink an awful lot of coffee, but I was told after the age of 40 you have to be careful with coffee and wine. Apparently, that can be one of the reasons older women get bloated around their stomach.’

With her acting career sidelined, Miss Hurley has instead concentrated on her swimwear range and modeling.

Following the birth of Damian, she revealed how she only eats one meal a day and often goes to bed hungry. It was also reported last year that she has just one square of organic chocolate or one tablespoonful of ice-cream when she wants a treat.

[From The Daily Mail]

Alright, first I do have to give Liz credit for actually admitting how extreme her diet is. I get tired of girls claiming that they “eat everything” when they’re in reality cokehead anorexics. So, Liz gets a point for being honest. She loses points for actually being on that kind of extreme diet though. I do have to admit a few things - I’m not a coffee, wine or beer drinker either, and part of the reason is my concerns about the extra caloric intake (except for coffee - I’ve just never had a taste for it). I prefer hard liquor too, if I’m having a drink while watching my beloved NCIS. I have a Scotch, just like Leroy Jethro Gibbs (he has his straight, I take mine on the rocks). Then again, I eat three meals a day, so what do I know?

Jeremy Piven claims soy milk gave him moobs

fp_2021131_piven_jeremy_sam_032109
I had a friend who swore by soy milk. She claimed that soya tasted better than real milk, and that it helped her diet considerably. Personally, I’ve never been a milk or soya person. I don’t have cereal for breakfast (I have fresh fruit, so I am somewhat healthy), and I don’t drink coffee, so I don’t have any need for milk, half-in-half or soya. So I have no opinion generally on the Milk v. Soya War. I’m just putting that out there.

Jeremy Piven was once a soy milk person. He drank it all the time, but he had to quite because… wait for it… soya gave him moobs. Moobs are defined as “man boobs” and to my eyes, Jeremy had at least a perky B-cup the last time I saw pictures of him shirtless. Of course, he was also waxed and gross. You can’t blame soya for everything, Piv!

‘Entourage’ actor Jeremy Piven stopped using soya milk because he was afraid it would make him grow breasts.

Jeremy Piven drank so much soya milk he started to grow breasts.

The ‘Entourage’ star has revealed he “dabbled” in using dairy substitutes on his cereal, but switched back to the real thing when he started to feel like a woman.

The 44-year-old actor explained: “I was the guy that dabbled in soya milk, but now I’ve found out soya milk has enough oestrogen for me to grow breasts; I had to put the soya milk down.

“It was a very confusing time.”

Though he was keen to embrace soy products, Jeremy admits he is far less adventurous when it comes to other culinary choices.

He said: “I don’t go too far out with my choices. Although when I was in Japan, I had a traditional Japanese breakfast that consisted of some quail eggs and you actually eat the head of some strange fish. “

“It all looked like Jurassic Park! I don’t think I could be a samurai, but I ate it.”

[From BANG Media International via CelebEdge]

So I googled “soy milk estrogen” and I found that there is some evidence that the Piv might be on to something. Some health-related sites claim that soy “contains a natural chemical that mimics estrogen” and that “soy might increase the risk of breast cancer in some women, affect brain function in men and lead to hidden developmental ab-normalities in infants….2 glasses of soy milk/day, over the course of one month, contain enough of the chemical to change the timing of a woman’s menstrual cycle.” There’s also a few pieces devoted to the idea that “soy milk will make boys gay”. Whatever. Everything in moderation.

Anyway, the Piv and his food, I just don’t know. It was back in December of last year that Jeremy claimed he had mercury poisoning from eating too much sushi. And now he’s blaming soya on his moobs. Maybe the Piv needs one of those nutritional experts to give him some kind of consult. Because he obviously can’t choose his own food anymore.

Cindy Crawford: I’m too healthy to be a supermodel today

fp_3805572_goff_crawford_cindy_101409
Cindy Crawford is giving us one of those “duh” moments. She’s out there promoting something, and during an interview she claimed that by today’s standards for models, she is simply too healthy to make it. Dur. Cindy goes on - talking about how she has “big breasts” (not really), normal thighs (still look skinny to me, but whatever) and toned upper arms (she does have great arms). I get that Cindy is trying to maybe make us feel better when describing a simple truth about the current crop super-skinny models, but I feel like this is a “thank you, Captain Obvious” moment. Is there anyone out there who doesn’t look with horror at the nearly pre-pubescent, shapeless girls that pass for “supermodels” these days? I miss Cindy. I miss Linda Evangelista, too. I loved Linda.

US former supermodel Cindy Crawford says she would have little chance of making it big in the fashion business today with her curvy figure, a German celebrity magazine reported Tuesday.

“I would not have become a supermodel in 2009. I look too healthy,” Crawford told Bunte.

“A body like mine with big breasts, normal thighs and toned upper arms” is no longer what the industry is looking for, she said.

Crawford, 43, said she was happy with her physique but worried about the effects of ageing like wrinkles and bulges.

“That’s why I like being in my 40s so much — being at peace with yourself, knowing about your strengths beyond being pretty,” she said.

Crawford, known for her trademark beauty spot above her upper lip, briefly studied chemical engineering before becoming one of the world’s most popular cover girls in the 1980s and 1990s.

[From Yahoo News]

It seems like Cindy has been getting more press lately for whatever reason. Part of it is that she’s launched a home accessories line at J.C. Penney, and she’s been giving more interviews. A few months ago she even talked about her “cellulite” in Redbook. Cindy has also been in the news because she’s been hanging out George Clooney and his girlfriend, who looks like a budget version of Cindy. I wonder if Cindy ever really thinks about that - that her husband’s best friend is a little bit obsessed with her, to the point where he seems to date women that look a lot like her.

Suzanne Somers’ anti-chemo book questioned by American Cancer Society

brandnewspics-270

Suzanne Somers is promoting an incredibly dangerous message according to many medical professionals and the American Cancer Society. In her latest book she argues that chemotherapy does not work for most cancers and that patients should turn to alternative medicine instead. This is something she’s believed for a long time – when she had breast cancer ten years ago, she chose to undergo radiation along with a lumpectomy. Since she’s doing okay, that’s evidence to Somers that chemotherapy is unnecessary for breast cancer. She also recently said that chemo killed Patrick Swayze, not pancreatic cancer.

Somers has some very extreme views on the lengths she’ll go to in order to remain looking and feeling young and healthy. She messes around with complex bioidentical hormones and pops over 60 pills a day. In January she was on Oprah espousing her ideals, and frankly she came off as a whack job. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt at the time, but in hindsight I should not have. She’s careful about phrasing things in terms of “this is just what I think I should do, you have to make your own choice,” but saying things like chemo kills, not cancer, shows that’s not what she really believes.

And health professionals are saying she’s downright dangerous. Here are some excerpts from the Huffington Post’s article about Somers’ medical advice.

Suzanne Somers is at it again. Less than a year after the former sitcom actress frustrated mainstream doctors (and cheered some fans) by touting bioidentical hormones on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” she’s back with a new book. This one’s on an even more emotional topic: Cancer treatment. Specifically, she argues against what she sees as the vast and often pointless use of chemotherapy.

Somers, who has rejected chemo herself, seems to relish the fight. “Cancer’s an epidemic,” said the 63-year-old actress in an interview in a Manhattan hotel a day before Tuesday’s release of “Knockout,” her 19th book. “And yet we keep going back to the same old pot, because it’s all we’ve got. Well, this is a book about options. “I’m ‘us’,” Somers adds. “I’m not them. I’ve been on the other side of the bed. And it’s powerful to have information.” The American Cancer Society is concerned.

“I am very afraid that people are going to listen to her message and follow what she says and be harmed by it,” says Dr. Otis Brawley, the organization’s chief medical officer. “We use current treatments because they’ve been proven to prolong life. They’ve gone through a logical, scientific method of evaluation. I don’t know if Suzanne Somers even knows there IS a logical, scientific method.”

More broadly, Brawley is concerned that in the United States, celebrities or sports stars feel they can use their fame to dispense medical advice. “There’s a tendency to oversimplify medical messages,” he says. “Well, oversimplification can kill.”

…Somers is now hoping for a return invitation to Winfrey’s hugely influential stage to discuss her cancer book. Her theories on chemotherapy did get one bit of attention she could have done without, though: The actress had to apologize recently when her offhand comment that chemo had likely killed actor Patrick Swayze, rather than his pancreatic cancer, made tabloid headlines. “I shouldn’t have said anything,” Somers says now. “I apologized to his family. But she adds: “We all know that chemotherapy does nothing for pancreatic cancer.”

…One criticism sure to come up with Somers’ cancer book is its reliance on several doctors who have controversial histories, including Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski in Houston, who has devised his own alternative cancer treatments and has had protracted legal battles with the FDA. But Somers defends him passionately, as she does the other doctors interviewed in her book. As for herself, she says, she is at ease with her role as celebrity health guru… “Celebrities are easy to pick on,” Somers says. “But I don’t have an agenda. I’m just a passionate lay person. And I’m using my celebrity to do something good for people.”

[From the Huffington Post]

Suzanne Somers obviously has the right to choose her own medical care, and she’s got the right to say whatever she wants about her beliefs. But because they’re potentially dangerous, it’s just as important to remember that the American Cancer Society and doctors and journalists have just as much of a right and responsibility to point out that experts disagree. They’re not calling for her silence. They’re saying she’s wrong, and that she’s putting out confusing information. We all know Suzanne Somers is not a doctor. But holy hell, I even felt myself someone swayed when watching her Oprah interview.

I have an aunt who was diagnosed with untreatable breast cancer two and a half years ago. The doctors said there was no point in giving her any sort of treatment and she had a month or two left to live. Because she had no other options, she started seeing a well-respected naturopath. Not because she chose to forgo traditional treatment options, but because she was told by every professional she saw that those options would not work for her. And she’s still alive today. There are two sides to the debate, but stories like this are beautiful miracles – and rare. Suzanne should consider herself lucky, but not necessarily consider herself science.

Britney Spears is done with Cheetos, junk food

91019f2_spears_b_b-gr_07
These are some nice pictures of Britney, her sons and her boyfriend vacationing in Mexico. Britney looks good, doesn’t she? I mean, her hair is a train wreck, as usual, but her body looks great and she doesn’t look crazy. According to Page Six, this is because Brit has quit the junk food. Will Michael K at Dlisted be able to go on? If Britney Spears, Our Lady of Immaculate Cheetos (or whatever Michael K calls her) is off the junk food, what will we do? Say it ain’t so! Apparently, whenever Brit-Brit needs her salt fix, she reaches for sushi, not potato chips, corn chips, hot dogs, Big Macs, or Funions. Her video stylist noted that Britney’s back and better than ever, and when they filmed her latest music video “3”, Brit even “sang live”. Gasp!

Britney Spears has cleaned up her act. GK Reid, who recently styled the music video shoot for her hit new single, “3,” tells us, “She exhibited amazing energy and was in great shape — her body looked better than it has in years.”

“She munched on sushi instead of junk food, and even sang live with the words. She worked really hard and was really sweet to all the dancers.”

Says Reid of the video, which is an ode to threesomes: “It’s really steamy.”

[From Page Six]

Damn, I could use some corn chips right now. Is it wrong that I want corn chips for breakfast? It is, isn’t it? Before, I could always look at my food choices with some smugness, thinking to myself “Well, at least I’m eating better than Britney Spears.” No more! She does look really cute these days. Let’s hope that Britney didn’t just quit junk food, she quit the pink wig and all that it represents.

Jenna Fischer on the cover of Shape

shape_jenna450

“The Office” star Jenna Fischer recently posed in a bikini for the cover of Shape Magazine. Fox 411 notes that she has one of those, “Wow, who knew?” bodies, and while she does look great, Shape also has a long history of airbrushing the living daylights out of people. I’m not saying Jenna doesn’t look that great, just that Self is not to be trusted in this regard.

Jenna gave a cute interview to them. Apparently they asked her to take on a 10 day challenge in which she was supposed to improve several aspects of her health. Her first decision was to day the 10 day challenge in 14 days. She’s big on being realistic. It seems Jenna has a problem with doing just one thing at a time, and that became very apparent throughout the project. Here are a few of her challenges:

When the editors of SELF pitched me the idea of doing a get-healthier-and-happier challenge, I was instantly onboard. This is going to change my life! I thought. It’s like having my own personal life coach! No sooner did I hang up than regret began to set in. Challenges? I already wake up at 5 A.M.; what more do you want from me? My brain likes to watch The Real Housewives of Orange County and pet my cat. It does not like being challenged. But I was stuck. So my first order of business was to give myself two weeks instead of the 10 days SELF suggested. Then I tackled an easy one first. —Jenna Fischer

• Make a healthy, tasty Crock-Pot meal
First thought: My boyfriend is going to love this one!
Result Ladies, if you have a Crock-Pot you got for your wedding and never use, dig it out and start cooking. This is the best invention since the microwave for busy women who want a home-cooked meal. You can make so many great things: turkey chili, pot roast, chicken breasts, ribs and my all-time favorite—Mom’s Stuffed Peppers. I prepared everything the night before, threw it in the Crock-Pot in the morning, set it on low and came home to dinner. My boyfriend adored it. We had more time to spend together that evening. Since we didn’t have to cook, it left time for hanky-panky!

• Dress in a fresh way for work
First thought: Does a hoodie count?
Result I started by looking in my closet for a pair of pants. In five years on The Office, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve worn something other than mismatched sweats to work. I removed every pair of pants and put back only ones that fit. (I had a lot of hopeful pants in there.) I started sorting all of my T-shirts. Two hours later, my room was a disaster and it was time for bed. I haven’t finished my closet project, but I’ve learned a lot. I don’t have a good pair of black pants that fit; I don’t have a single casual skirt that isn’t five years old. Most of my T-shirts are shrunken or faded. No wonder I dress dumpy all the time! I did find an adorable pair of purple corduroy pants. I wore them to work the next day with a comfy gray sweater and a scarf.

• On a workday, go for a 20-minute jog
First thought: I hate the editors of SELF magazine.
Result My brain says, I do not want to do this. I’m tired. My feet hurt. Is that a swollen gland? Skip this challenge; they’ll never know. OK, I have to do this. How can I make it fun? I need a kick-ass iPod mix! An hour later, I had a mix and no more excuses. I went jogging. And it was awesome! I want to do this every day! I feel energized, strong, clearheaded. I alternated between jogging and power-walking, but that doesn’t matter. The point is that I got out there and didn’t stop moving. If I keep this up, I might be able to put some of those pants back into my closet!

• Reconnect with an old friend
First thought: Where do I start!
Result I called my best friend from high school, Ellen. We had lost touch in college but saw each other again at our 10-year reunion. We keep in touch with emails here and there. I called her on a Sunday. I put on my headset, and we chatted for 30 minutes while I cleaned my kitchen. It was a great conversation and reminded me of how important it is to feel a connection to those people who have known you for longer than your current success in life. The hands-free headset is the key to keeping in touch. They only cost about $20 at Target. You don’t have to choose between chatting and cleaning the kitchen. I did both!

My favorite thing about the challenges was having the opportunity to concentrate on one area of my life at a time and really examine the way I approach each. And of all the challenges, the BlackBerry embargo has had the most lasting effects. While I was shooting my latest movie in New York [Solitary Man, with Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito], I left my BlackBerry in my trailer on most days. If I did bring it to the set with me, I didn’t carry it in my pocket but left it by my chair instead. My workdays have been much less stressful because of that change. I came away from my SELF live-better challenges with a great overall lesson: one thing at a time.

[From Self]

As mentioned at the end, Jenna had to go without her Blackberry for a day and ended up really liking it. She also noted that the only challenge she didn’t complete was reading for 30 minutes – just once. She said that even when she reads, it’s always a script or something work-related. She felt guilty and like she couldn’t make time for something that would demand 100% focus and was purely for pleasure. It sounds like she’s dealing with a lot of the stresses we all face. We’ve got so much technology around – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing – but you can start to forget how much it interferes with your life. You’ve got to be hooked in and connected 24/7, and if you’re not you feel like you’re slacking.

I’m sort of surprised she chose to go the bikini route. I love Jenna to death, she strikes me as one of the few actors who’s still totally the same person as she was before she was famous. There’s nothing wrong with the bikini, it just seems unnecessary and a bit beneath her. C’est la vie.

Here’s Jenna at the Los Angeles premiere of Inglourious Basterds on August 10th. Images thanks to WENN.com .

Tori Spelling rebukes Star Mag: “I’m 107 pounds”
Tori Spelling grocery shopping with her son Liam in Malibu

Earlier this week, we covered Star Magazine’s current cover story, “95 lbs! Tori Spelling Collapses!” What was strange about it (in my mind) was that Star didn’t really spend too much time on the “Tori Spelling is too thin, she must have an eating disorder” part of the gossip. Instead, the story was mostly about how Tori is really upset after reading or hearing about Dean McDermott’s ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace’s book. Eustace’s book is full of many, many stories about Tori and Dean, and Star happily excerpted even more. Star’s report made it sound like Tori was really, really stressed out, and that’s why she was hospitalized last week.

Tori took to her Twitter account to rebuke the “LIES” in Star’s report. But all she really corrects is her weight, not the part about Mary Jo’s book. Star claimed Tori weighs “95 lbs!” when Tori claims she actually weighs 107 pounds. Eh. Really? I’d actually put her at something closer to 115 pounds, given her height and those massive, disgusting implants. Saline counts when you’re calculating your weight, Tori!

Here’s the skinny. Tori Spelling is slamming a Star cover story that alleges she collapsed and had to be rushed to the ER for being drastically underweight at 95 pounds.

The Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood star, 36, took to her Twitter account to set the record straight.

“Star Mag…LIES!” she posted Thursday. “Literally not 1 factual thing in entire article. And, come 2 my house & weigh me Star! I’m 107lbs. if you care about FACTS?!?”

The tabloid alleges that a painfully thin Spelling collapsed after an “angry showdown” with husband Dean McDermott, whose ex-wife has written an incriminating tell-all.

The 90210 alum was indeed admitted to the hospital twice within 24 hours on Sept. 29 — but for an undisclosed stomach ailment, her rep confirmed to Usmagazine.com.

Spelling has come under fire in the past for her thin frame, but told Us Weekly in June: “I am healthy…I am a busy working mom!” The actress went on, adding that she’s “always gotten” picked on for her slim body size.

“This is my weight, and I’m not unhealthy,” Spelling insisted. “I’m very healthy. It is hard to be criticized in public, and it’s harder for your family to deal with it than you. You kind of get a thick skin. When you have kids and when you have a husband, it’s upsetting.”

[From Us Weekly]

Well, I guess it’s nice that a celebrity responded directly to a tabloid lie. However, the problem with that is the sin of omission. Since Tori didn’t directly respond to the part of the story about Mary Jo’s book, can we assume it’s true? There in lies the rub, celebrities. I do applaud Tori for “revealing” her weight though - I don’t think many celebrities would do that to correct a tabloid story. Revealing your weight is like revealing how many people you’ve slept with.

Star: Tori Spelling collapses after reading Dean’s ex-wife’s book

star_toricollapses
Star Magazine’s cover story this week is “Tori Spelling Collapses!” This is not really news - last week, Dean McDermott was tweeting all over the place about Tori’s hospital stay for an unknown stomach ailment. Star doesn’t really know what kind of health problems Tori is facing, but they join together several stories into a pastiche of nasty gossip. First, according to Star’s sources, Tori has an eating disorder because she’s only “95 pounds”. I’ve seen recent pictures of Tori, and she’s not 95 pounds. Yes, she’s very thin. But it’s not that extreme.

Secondly - and the biggest part of the story - is that Tori’s hospital stay and mysterious stomach ailment is all related to Dean’s ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace and MJ’s tell-all book, Divorce Sucks: What to do when irreconcilable differences, lawyer fees, and your ex’s Hollywood wife make you miserable. Last week, Star excerpted parts of the book (Gatecrasher did too). While many of you thought MJ has every right to still be talking, writing and bitching about Tori four years after the divorce, I found the book excerpts revealing of Mary Jo’s lingering bitterness, nastiness and near obsession with analyzing every part of Tori and Dean’s relationship. Personally (and this really is just my opinion), I don’t think what MJ is doing is healthy or mature. Anyway, Star claims that Tori’s health problems are all related to the “stress” of being hit with revelations from Mary Jo’s book.

Tori Spelling has been in and out of the hospital throughout the past week. Now Star has all the details behind her health crisis — and why her marriage may be to blame!

Tori was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center late on Sept. 28, complaining of severe abdominal pains, headaches and dizziness. In our Oct. 19 issue — on sale now — Star reveals how doctors quickly ordered a battery of tests, which ruled out pregnancy, ulcers and ovarian cysts. She was given an ultrasound to check for kidney stones and had blood drawn to test for pelvic inflammatory disease, but these tests also came up negative. With no diagnosis, she was released early the next morning.

Two days later she was back in the hospital, but doctors were no closer to finding the specific cause of her illness at the end of her stay. Says a source, “They believe it could be stress-related.”

In recent weeks, Tori has indeed been dealing with serious anxiety, multiple sources tell Star. The stress caused by scathing revelations from Dean’s best friend and his ex-wife has made her sick and shaken her once-solid marriage.

Dean’s best pal, Michael Olifiers, and his ex-wife, Mary Jo Eustace, said that Dean only got with Tori, 36, to further his career — and that he was never attracted to her. “She feels overwhelmed with all of these statements,” a source says.

It could be. I could buy that Tori’s health problems are stress-related. She’s had a rough year with her mom’s crap, and now this “tell-all” from Mary Jo. But Star does have a record of really going after Tori and Dean, especially with their recent cover story about their “loveless marriage”. It could be that Tori just got the swine flu or something. Who knows?
