Hilary Duff got her lips done, and they’re really obvious: does she realize?

I live on the East Coast in a rural area, so my friends are less likely to get Botox, fillers and plastic surgery. People are pretty casual here and they rarely go in for injectables. I do have friends that have done Botox, but generally they take it easy and it’s not that noticeable. That’s all a preface to this story about Hilary Duff’s very obvious new lips. I like Hilary so I’m trying to rationalize this for her as a kind of cultural thing. Like what looks ridiculous and over the top to us is actually how a lot of Hollywood women end up looking, and her friends may have convinced her that this would be worth it.

I know, from past celebrities with terrible slug lips, that this will probably settle for her at some point and not look as joker-like. As long as she just got a jab and not one of those Lisa Rinna or Taylor Armstrong lip implants, she should be ok. For now, though, it’s looking really painful and obvious.

Once last year I got my eyebrows done and the hairdresser totally botched it. She made them tiny and black and I was mortified. (I’ve surely told this story before, forgive me.) So I got some Jolen facial bleaching cream to undo the damage from the awful eyebrow dye, and I bought a bunch of powders and eyebrow pencils to fill them in. Before I figured out what to do with my eyebrows, I was mortified and didn’t want to leave the house. (They’re back to normal now, thanks for asking.)

So what I want to know is if Hilary feels super embarrassed and is just making the best of a bad situation or if she thinks she looks good. From far away she looks ok, but up close not so much. If she knows how obvious her new lips are, props to her for leaving the house and being like “I have to deal with it and cannot hide.”

Also, she looks great otherwise.

Hat tip to Celebslam for pointing this out

Hilary Duff on her post baby bikini body: “the weight doesn’t fall off overnight”

Last week some photos came out of new mom Hilary Duff, 24, in a bikini in Mexico with her adorable three month-old baby. You can see those photos here. She looked like she just had a baby, and like she was toned and fit. She looks good to me, and confident, only some people were rude to her because she’s not super tiny already like a supermodel. Hilary has a new interview with In Touch [via The Daily Mail], in which she defends herself against criticism that she hasn’t lost the weight fast enough.

Three months after giving birth to her first child, Hilary Duff says she’s not back to her ideal weight.

But she has hit back against a cascade of mean-spirited chatter which hit the internet last week in response to photographs of the 24-year-old in a bikini.

‘Say it to my face,’ dared the With Love singer.

‘I’m not perfect, but I feel fantastic,’ Hilary told In Touch magazine.

‘This is how it goes for most women – the weight doesn’t fall off overnight.’

The actress and singer told the magazine she has been exercising ‘a few’ times a week, mixing spin classes with private training sessions.

While many of Hilary’s fans were supportive of her wearing a bikini despite her extra post-baby pounds, others were cruel:

‘A month or so ago I was concerned that she wouldn’t even try to lose weight,’ wrote one online critic.

‘Now I’m convinced she doesn’t even care how she looks, gross!’

‘She’s turned into her mother. That happens,’ wrote another.

‘I don’t care what people say. I’m not back to where I want to be, but I’m not stressing it,’ said the Gossip Girl actress.

Hilary began dating NHL player Mike Comrie in 2007.

In February 2010, the couple announced their engagement.

Hilary and Mike married in August 2010 in Santa Barbara, California, and Duff gave birth to their first child, a son Luca Cruz Comrie, on March 20 this year.
In the interview, Hilary says Mike ‘doesn’t care’ about her extra pregnancy weight.

‘Even during my pregnancy he thought I was beautiful.’

[From The Daily Mail]

It sounds like Hilary is losing the weight the right way, and that she just adores her son. She tweeted this recent photo of little Luca. His face has filled out and he’s such a cutie! It’s hard to remember that time in my son’s life, but it’s all so precious when they’re little like that. Good for Hilary for focusing on what matters as a new mom.

Also, Star reported a couple of weeks ago that Hilary was offered a nice deal with Weight Watchers to lose her baby weight. We know that Jessica Simpson is doing a $4 million WW deal now and that she’s under the gun to lose the weight. Star quoted an insider who said that Hilary turned it down and that “No amount of money could make [her] put herself under that type of microscope. She’s really pleased with her curves and hates people asking her about her body. Plus, she’s planning to get pregnant again ASAP, so she’s not in some desperate rush to get back to a size zero.” You go Hilary!

Hilary Duff tweets two-week-old baby Luca Cruz’s first adorable photo

Hilary Duff

Yesterday, Hilary Duff tweeted the first photos of her two-week-old baby boy Luca Cruz Comrie. Hilary gave birth March 20, and she’s already been pap’d a few times (solo) since the birth. I’m including some photos of Hilary out and about in LA just days after Luca came into the world – she was even wearing heels! Crazy. Anyway, Luca Cruz is a little cutie:

Luca Cruz Comrie

I like when parents wait a few weeks to do the baby photos, mostly because all newborns look alike, especially when they’re fresh out of the womb, you know? That being said, it’s kind of funny (to me) how Hilary could barely wait two whole weeks to show off photos. I wonder if she got offers to sell the first photos? Honestly, I would imagine that she did get some low-ball offers from People and Us Weekly, judging solely from how hard she pimped her pregnancy. There was interest in her pregnancy, and there’s interest in the baby. Because motherhood sells, but for Hilary, I would imagine it would sell for less than $100K. So she just decided to give the photos away for free. Thoughts on her choice? I kind of like it. Mostly I just like the fact that we (and every other outlet) can use the free photos.

So… get used to this. Hilary will be tweeting photos of Luca nonstop from here on out.

Hilary Duff finally gave birth on Tuesday, to baby boy Luca Cruz Comrie

Poor Hilary Duff! Hilary’s pregnancy situation was a lot like Jessica Simpson’s – both women announced their pregnancies early because both began showing very early. As a result, it feels like Jessica has been knocked up for more than a year, and Hilary… well, maybe even longer. But Hilary finally gave birth on Tuesday! Huzzah. Hilary and her husband Mike Comrie welcomed a baby boy, whom they named Luca Cruz Comrie.

Hilary Duff is a mom! The actress and her husband Mike Comrie welcomed a son on Tuesday, March 20, Duff Tweets.

“Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie! Tuesday evening, we became proud parents of a healthy 7 pound 6 ounce beautiful boy,” she writes.

“We are overjoyed and feel like the luckiest parents in the world,” she continues. “He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well.”

Duff, 24, announced in August that she was expecting her first child, saying that she and Comrie were “ready to start this new chapter in our lives.” And she described the experience of being pregnant as “kind of like a little alien has taken over your body. You just don’t quite feel normal.” Nevertheless, she said her pregnancy was “super easy.”

In November, Duff flaunted her growing belly on the red carpet, where she said she’d decided to forego loose fitting outfits and to show off her changing figure. “I’m kind of like, ‘Well, it’s there, and everyone knows it’s there,’ so I think it looks better to wear tighter clothes.”

Over Christmas, the star even embellished her bare belly with a picture of a gift and wished fans happy holidays “from the three of us.”

Duff and Comrie – who got married on August 10, 2010 – can now look forward to many happy holidays as a family.

[From People]

Thoughts on the name? I don’t hate it. I don’t love it either. I feel like there are so many variations on “Luke” and “Lucas” these days. Luca is fine, Luca Cruz sounds… I don’t know. Odd somehow, but also like I might already know someone with that name already? In any case, congratulations to the happy family and I’m happy that Hilary had a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery. Yay!

Hilary Duff’s very tight short dress: pregnancy pass or what was she thinking?

wenn3611199
When I first saw the thumbnails for this photo set I thought I was looking at a woman crammed into a too-tight dress. From far away, from the front, that’s what it looks like. It wasn’t until I saw the photos on Evil Beet that I realized I was looking at a pregnant Hilary Duff crammed into a too-tight lime green sequin dress. (There are more photos here) This is not a flattering look for her at all, and I think pregnancy passes should be reserved for shapeless shifts, but at least she’s trying to switch it up. I love this color too, but as an accent piece or a shirt that pops not as a whole dress! Still, she’s going for bold and she’s knocked up and loving it. Plus she looks cute and like she has a devoted husband in hockey player Mike Comrie. (Not so much here, but in the other photos.)

wenn3611207
Hilary was attending the launch of The Beauty Book, which features photos of celebrities with proceeds to go to brain cancer research. So she’s doing a good thing here, even as a shiny bright green fashion miss.

wenn3611211
From what I can find, Hilary is probably around six months along. She made the announcement in mid August and if she waited a traditional three months first she would be six months’ pregnant now. Hilary is only 24! I know a lot of people know her as the kid from Disney’s Lizzie McGuire, but I honestly thought she was at least 28 or so. Still, she seems grounded and like she’ll make a good mom. You know she’ll do a baby photo spread if one of the magazines will have her.

Hilary Duff, 23, is expecting her first child with husband Mike Comrie

fp_7725983_duffcomrie_dinnerdate_lav_05_11

I should have known that Hilary Duff was pregnant. I’m ashamed to admit that my mind didn’t even go there when I noticed two things: one, her boobs were looking bigger in recent photos and two, she and husband Mike Comrie have been getting pap’d on a daily basis lately, for no apparent reason other than they’re probably calling the paparazzi themselves. So, Hilary is knocked up, and she announced it on her first wedding anniversary. Also, I found this shocking: Hilary is ONLY 23 years old. It feels like she should be about 35 years old by now, right?

Hilary Duff’s first wedding anniversary is extra sweet: she and Mike Comrie announced they are expecting a baby!

“This weekend, Mike and I are celebrating our one year anniversary! In memory of the special day, we decided to post some of our favorite pictures from our wedding!” she wrote on her official website Sunday.

“I can’t believe it has already been a year. Time really flies when you’re having fun! We also want to share the exciting news that baby makes three! We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives. Thanks to everyone for the continued love and support throughout the years!”

Duff, 23, wed pro hockey player Comrie, 30, on August 14, 2010 in an intimate sunset ceremony at a $29 million estate near the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif.

“We both love kids and we’re really excited,” Duff told Us Weekly Wednesday at the Kendra Scott jewelry event in L.A., just days before sharing her pregnancy news with the world. “It was a big deal for us because we had a year to be married.”

[From Us Weekly]

I can’t hate on her! I’m happy for her, truly. I’m glad she got knocked up and I hope that her fast-track to the Hollywood Mother Mafia goes smoothly, and the initiation process isn’t too grueling (I think Jennifer Garner gets to shank newbies).

Here’s something more shocking than Hilary’s age: she’s got one movie about to come next year, and another one in pre-production! Wow. And here I was thinking that she had no career and having a baby was her cling to relevancy. Now I’m just being rude! Congrats Hilary and Mike!

Hilary Duff’s “dream wedding” in OK! Magazine

okhilaryduff
I won’t buy a celebrity magazine for random wedding or baby pictures usually, but I love to look at my “friend’s” photos on Facebook. It’s not just wedding photos, I love baby pictures, showers, drunken college parties and vacation photos. I don’t know most of these people as I just have one Facebook account for Celebitchy. (Add me as a friend and I’ll check out yours. The other day I was checking out someone’s birthday vacation to Chicago, where she caught a Cubs game and took in the sights. I’m mentioning it to see if she reads this story.)

Anyway I knew when we saw just those blurry faraway photos of Hilary Duff’s wedding to hockey player Mike Comrie that she must have optioned the photos to a celebrity outlet. OK! Magazine has them, and Hilary looks really lovely on the cover. (If not a little ‘toxed and/or Photoshopped.) The cover promises to have “exclusive photos” and an interview with Hilary. I’ll buy the exclusive photos part, but I’m thinking the interview isn’t that extensive. Maybe I’m just so used to OK!’s bait and switch covers that I’m having trouble giving them props for an exclusive piece that they surely paid good money for. Here’s more, from E!, which has more of the story than OK! does on their site:

Hilary Duff’s big day began all wrong, but it certainly didn’t end that way.

“I started my day with a chipped tooth!” she reveals in the new issue of OK! “My wedding planner snuck me out to the dentist! Thank goodness it was fixed within the hour.”

Fortunately, everything else went smoothly for the 22-year-old bride as she tied the knot with Mike Comrie last weekend in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Walking down the aisle in front of about 100 guests, Duff wore a Vera Wang gown with an organza mermaid look that was adorned with giant blossoms while carrying a bouquet of blush dahlias.

“There are not even words to describe it,” says the starlet about her dress. “It’s exactly what I imagined, plus 10 times better.”

Duff says she also abided by the tradition of wearing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

“I wore blue underwear and borrowed all of the jewelry [from Van Cleef & Arpels], and the something old was my great-grandmother’s cameo, which I wore on the inside of my dress. The dress itself was new.”

Upon exchanging vows, the newly married couple joined their loved ones under a muslin tent for the reception, which, according to Duff, featured truffled corn ravioli, pepper-crusted rib-eye steak and miso-glazed black cod, as well as a dessert station that included ice cream sandwiches with hot fudge dipping sauce.

[From E! Online]

That must have freaked Hilary out to no end to have chipped a tooth on her wedding day! Thank goodness she was able to get it fixed right away and I wonder if it was even noticeable. Also, I love food “stations” at weddings! I once went to a wedding with different chinese food stations ahead of, unbeknownst to me, the main meal. I walked around and filled up and then we sat down for a few courses.

OK! has two photo sneak peeks of Hilary’s wedding on their site, a picture of the reception set up and a photo of her shoes overlaid with a couple of her diamond accessories. The reception looks gorgeous, with multiple understated chandeliers, lots of draped fabric, and pink and yellow rose bouquets. It must have been such a special day. I wish she was my friend on Facebook so I could just see the pictures there and look at all her friends’ comments on how drunk they got.

There’s a little more gossip on Hilary. US Weekly reports that she had a prenup with her new husband, who is a multi-millionaire hockey player in his own right and comes from a wealthy family with a furniture empire. An insider says “It was a totally amicable agreement. They love each other very much and knew this was just a technicality.” That was smart, and good for them. People get married thinking it’s going to last forever, but the truth is that we all have about 50/50 odds – maybe a little better but it’s smart to be prepared.

Hilary Duff’s giant engagement ring est. at $300k, but did bf pay $1mil?

hilary_duff_06_wenn2751433
Hilary Duff, 22, is sporting a huge rock from her hockey player beau, Mike Comrie, 29, of the Edmonton Oilers. The two got engaged over Valentine’s weekend while in vacation in Hawaii, with Hilary’s sister telling People that the proposal was a complete surprise. Outlets have different cost appraisals for the ring, with E! reporting that Comrie bought it in Vegas and that it cost a cool million and Hollywood Life quoting a jeweler that estimates that the 4.5 carat ring was around $300,000. Maybe Comrie should have had it appraised before he plopped down that kind of cash.

I checked Wikipedia to see what kind of contract Comrie has, and he’s been making upwards of $3 million a year since 2001 with an initial very high contract that he might not have lived up to. (Maybe a hockey fan can help shed some light onto this. He’s moved around a lot and apparently angered Edmonton, his first team, by grandstanding in a contract dispute.) It breaks down to $10 million for three years with the Edmonton Oilers from 2001-2004; some time with the Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes, including a one year contract for $3 million with the Coyotes in 2006, $3.375 million in 2007 with the New York Islanders, and then $4 million with the Islanders again in 2008. His latest contract is for $1.125 million for one year back with the Oilers. So his stock is falling a little, but he still dropped a million on a ring.

Duff and Comrie were spotted out to dinner at Katsuya in LA last night, with Hilary happily showing off their ring. OK! reports that the two are looking to purchase a mansion together in Beverly Hills, with a budget of around $10 million.

I don’t know, I just think that 22 is too young to get married. I waited until I was in my early 30s and I still didn’t know what I was getting into. It’s a good age for some people, though. If they’re both ready to start a family they’ll be able to raise kids when they’re young and that’s a definite advantage. Congratulations to Hilary and Mike!

Faye Dunaway rips on Hilary Duff’s “Bonnie and Clyde” remake

faye-dunaway-header

In the “Leave My Classic Films Alone” department, some Hollywood slimeballs thought it would be a great idea to do a remake of the Faye Dunaway/Warren Beatty classic crime caper, “Bonnie and Clyde.” As if that isn’t bad enough news, they also thought that the role of Bonnie Parker, played so brilliantly by Faye Dunaway, should belong to former Disney star/pop singer Hilary Duff. It’s enough to make you choke on your popcorn, right? Well, Dunaway – always one to speak her mind – didn’t hold back her opinion on this project when asked about it, questioning the need for a remake – and the unfortunate casting choice.

Quick! Can you think of any remake of great film classic that has been better than the original?

No, I didn’t think so.

That’s also reportedly the reaction of both Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway upon hearing about a new ”Bonnie & Clyde” in the works.

Hollywood sources tell me the two Oscar winners both said, ”Why?” upon hearing the news little-known director Tonya S. Holly will direct ”The Story of Bonnie and Clyde,” based on her own screenplay. Holly says her project was inspired not by the 1967 film, but by news clippings of the famous Depression-era outlaws, found in an abandoned house on her family’s property.

Learning her role as Bonnie Parker would be portrayed by Hilary Duff, Dunaway supposedly zinged, ”Couldn’t they at least cast a real actress?” Wow. Meow.

Beatty’s Clyde Barrow role will be played by Kevin Zegers, whose credits include ”The Jane Austen Book Club” and ”Transamerica.”

The original ”Bonnie & Clyde” received 10 Oscar nominations, but won only two — Estelle Parsons for best supporting actress and for cinematography.

[From the Chicago Sun-Times]

Now, I don’t have ESP or anything, but I’m not predicting 10 Oscar nominations for this remake, are you? And you just gotta love Faye’s reaction. Of course, in my head, she is still dressed like Joan Crawford and screaming this at the top of her lungs with a wire hanger in her hand. Yikes! But I couldn’t agree more. Aside from her “Lizzie McGuire Movie” that came out a million years ago, what’s Hilary Duff done to deserve this role?

Audience have typically rejected attempts to remake classic movies – recent remakes of “The Omen,” “Psycho” and “Amityville Horror” all got dismal reviews and nobody saw them. So, what gives? Why does anyone think this is a good idea? I’m sure there are plenty of struggling screenwriters out there with original ideas who are dying for a chance to get a movie made. Anything’s got to be better than Hilary Duff pretending to be a 1930s bank robber, right?

Faye Dunaway is shown looking fabulous at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC, Sept. 2008. No more wire hangers! Photo credit: WENN.

Hilary Duff to be in Bonnie and Clyde “remake”

fp_1805809_duff_hilary_riv_
Hilary Duff, in her latest attempt to separate herself from her early Disney fame, will be starring in a movie about Bonnie and Clyde opposite Kevin Zegers. The article makes it very clear that this is not a remake of the 1967 film, but rather a new film with a new script.

Tonya S. Holly will direct the film from her own script, which is a new adaptation of the story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow rather than a remake of the 1967 classic film starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. Holly began working on the project after reading old newspaper articles about the gangster pair in an abandoned house on her family’s property.

Holly wrote, produced and directed the feature “When I Find the Ocean.”

“The Story of Bonnie and Clyde” is set to lense in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Natalie Canerday and Rance Howard will also star.

[from Variety via I Watch Stuff]

I do have to say I’m glad that they’re not expecting Hilary Duff to fit into Faye Dunaway’s shoes, remake-style. It’s such a classic film, and Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were brilliant together. It would be silly to think that they could ever recreate that kind of chemistry. However, with a new script and a younger cast, I can see how Hilary would view this as a good movie with which to launch a more serious film career. Hopefully it won’t turn into a ridiculous romp movie. Her last film, War, Inc., did not get good reviews and many people agreed that she tried a little to hard to break out of her good-girl Disney image. (For those of you who don’t remember, she did a scene in which she seductively fished a scorpion out of her pants.)

I’ve tried to take her more seriously recently, but somehow, she will never be anything but Lizzie McGuire to me.
