I enjoy the occasional “who got plastic surgery?” story because inevitably, I tend to think that celebrities got the wrong procedure done. For some stars, the rumors are always about facelifts or Botox, when they could really use a nose job. For others, I take a quick glance and think “Damn, they looked better before that hack cut them up.” For the latest round of rumors, we have Amy Winehouse and her boobs.

Now, I don’t mean to be cruel and judgy, but if you had thousands of dollars to spend on elective surgery, would you get your boobs done? If I was Amy, I’d take a crack at the sun-damaged, drug-and-alcohol-damaged face before I’d ask someone to start messing with my boobs. But Amy decided that it was her boobs that needed an upgrade, and reportedly had them done last week, going from a 32B to a 32D. CB doesn’t think she had a boob job because photo evidence suggests that Amy has always been pretty stacked. But my reasoning is that that Amy has lost a lot of weight over the past year, and some of it might hae been in her chest. Plus, I don’t think she went up that much – B-cup to D-cup isn’t a huge difference.

It’s being claimed that Amy Winehouse checked into a London clinic at the beginning of last week.

So we’re not entirely sure how she’s going to perform so soon after the operation (although she’s probably performed near death quite a few times) and producers of the programme are concerned she may not show up, having missed rehearsals because of the procedure. Management are also worried she may suffer an infection if she goes up on stage. And no-one wants to see that.

A source said: “She looks amazing, like a new woman. Amy told us she wanted a new look – it’s all part of her fresh start for her big comeback. We all feared she’d fallen off the wagon when she came in. Then we saw her bouncing around with these huge boobs which stand out as she’s so tiny and skinny. She looks amazing, like a new woman. We can’t believe someone actually said that. Winehouse’s breasts have reportedly gone from a 32B to a 32D.

A patient added: “She started rambling and said, ‘I’ve had a boob job. I ‘ad ‘em done for Strictly. I wanted to look my best and I’m sick of stuffing hankies down my bra’. It was hilarious. I didn’t even know she was going on the show – but the way she was when I saw her she was struggling to string a sentence together. I’ll be amazed if she can sing on TV. She seemed in a hell of a state – completely out of it.”

Speaking as someone with natural DD-cups, it always pisses me off when women go above a C-cup or a D-cup, because they have zero inkling of the back pain, the hassle and bullsh-t that goes on with having big boobs. It sounds like Amy didn’t go up too much, and judging from recent pictures of her over the weekend, I would have simply suspected Amy got a padded bra, or that she gained some weight back in her bust. Whatever it is, it looks natural enough.

Of course, nothing is ever that simple in Amy Winehouse’s world. It seems that Saturday night Amy made a guest appearance on Britain’s “Strictly Come Dancing” (video here), which is like America’s Dancing With the Stars. After a reportedly “subdued” appearance doing “backing vocals for her 13 year-old goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield,” reports indicate that Winehouse was hospitalized for a “botched boob job”. For the love of God, Amy. According to reports, Amy’s manager (that poor bastard) took her to hospital where she was shouting, “I need to see someone, my boobs are f-cking killing me!” Doctors kept overnight and she has since been released.

Tori Spelling was hospitalized twice in the past two days for severe stomach pain. Her husband, Dean McDermott, posted updates on his Twitter indicating that Tori had undergone tests and that they didn’t yet know what was wrong. People are inevitably going to make comments that she needs to eat something and speculate that her extreme thinness contributed to whatever is wrong with her. I don’t think that’s fair, because illness can strike any of us and it’s often hard to diagnose at first. If you haven’t experienced anything like that in your life, consider yourself lucky.

Tori Spelling is in recovery mode. From what, nobody knows.

The Inn Love reality star and professional marriage rumor-debunker is currently laid up in a hospital, where she has been receiving treatment for severe stomach pains.

“Tori went to the hospital last night for abdominal pain,” her rep told E! News. “They released her last night. She wasn’t feeling any better today so she returned to the hospital for more tests.”

There’s the clinical, succinct explanation. For the slightly less composed alternative, we turn to Spelling’s concerned hubby, Dean “Twitter Play-by-Play” McDermott.

“The hits just keep coming!!” he wrote yesterday. “T is in the hospital now with severe stomach pains. We’re trying to get her comfortable.

“Will keep you updated the best I can. Phone battery is dying.”

A man of his word, McDermott kept his followers abreast of Tori’s state later last night.

“Just out of the hospital. After a battery of tests, no conclusive answers. She still feels terrible. Hope it passes soon. She’s in a lot of pain.”

There have been no further updates from McDermott on his wife’s condition, but we’re sure another is on the way. Just as soon as he finishes doling out cross-state trick-or-treating advice.

Dean also tweeted that he was in the hospital 10 days ago for a bad stomach virus (which kind of sounded like food poisoning to me) and that both of his children with Tori, Stella, 15 months, and Liam, 2 and a half, had the flu and then colds last week. It sounds like something is going around at their house and I hope that Tori recovers soon. There are all sorts of things that can cause bad abdominal pain and hopefully it isn’t anything serious.

Troubled actress Mischa Barton sat back on The View’s couch this morning to promote her new CW show The Beautiful Life and (of course) answer any and all questions concerning her hospital stay this summer. Barton was forcibly removed from her Los Angeles home in July and taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s psychiatric ward.

Barton at first tried to play off her hospital stay saying it was “silly” and “blown out of proportion” but when Barbara Walters pointed out that she was actually in a rubber room and not just your normal hospital ward, Barton again blamed her teeth.

“I had an infection and a dry socket and I woke up on a Sunday morning and there was no doctor available,” Barton continues. “I was trying to take the minimum amount of pain killers and get through it because I had to go to work soon and I was getting ready to go do this show, ‘The Beautiful Life,’ and meanwhile I still had a schedule to travel. I was going to Europe. I was going to London. I had things to do and I was prepping to do photo shoots and I was just overwhelmed. I had so much work to do and the surgery had gone so badly for me. And I think that I was just starting to feel completely overwhelmed. It was just too much to have this surgery go so wrong.”

Barton, although seemingly a little malaised, appeared to be in her right mind, and spoke calmly about the dramatic incident. The former star of The O.C. explained that she had “a meltdown” and that because she mentioned that she “wanted to die” because of the pain, they took her very seriously. Hence the 5150 hold. The wish for death is understandable. I’ve had dry sockets and they’re no joke. But she must have been FLAILING and seriously flipping out for them to lock her up.

Walters (who is showing her advanced age, I could barely make out the question) also asked her how she got through it.

“I just figure that if you hit rock bottom like that … and you’re around people, you know, you realize I’m nothing like these people,” she says. “I have a career, I worked so hard for it. I’m such a positive person and I really … I think you can overcome anything and for me having that kind of chronic pain for the first time in my life, like being in serious pain was such a wakeup call because, you know, I’ve seen friends go though terrible, terrible pain and I’ve worked in hospitals and never experienced it myself. And I have such a newfound respect for people who live with that kind of pain and I think it was just a wakeup call for me about life and respecting life so much more.”

“Anyway, I got really healthy since then,” Barton adds. “I’ve just been doing everything I can to keep my job happy and healthy and I’ve moved to New York with my two dogs and I have a great apartment I just got.”

Barton, who has long been rumored to be a party girl in excess (remember the freakout at Nicole Richie’s 2007 Memorial Day BBQ and her drunk driving arrest?), seems to be taking this incident as a wake up call. Hopefully this is a sign that she’s getting it together, focusing on her career, and not having dental surgery again anytime soon.

I’m rooting for Mischa Barton. Some of you say that she’s stuck up or can’t act or whatever, but she’s always struck me as smart, self aware, and much more together than other celebrities her age. 23 year-old Mischa wasn’t as in control as I thought, and she had a massive very public fall from grace with an admission to the hospital for a psychiatric hold almost two weeks ago. Maybe people will say they saw it coming, but it was a shock to me and I assumed that Mischa just liked to party but wasn’t into anything dangerous or excessive. In Touch reported this week that Mischa was so out of it that she’s the one who called the cops, saying “I see tree people.” They reported that “she was hallucinating and thought she saw people hidden in the foliage outside her house in a gated community.”

Anyway Mischa is out of the hospital now and has hopefully put all that behind her. Judging from her appearance at the airport in LA yesterday, she’s doing fine. Gone is the caked-on eyeliner (liquid eyeliner is only for the lids, don’t rim the bottom of your eye with it!) and spaced-out look. Maybe this will last for Mischa and she’s learned that she can’t touch the hard stuff.

Mischa Barton is out of the hospital and plans a return to work almost two weeks after Los Angeles police say they escorted her for an undisclosed medical problem.

Spokesman Craig Schneider said Monday that the 23-year-old actress is “out of the hospital and continuing to improve in anticipation of resuming production as planned.”
He would not elaborate on Barton’s condition, but said Barton planned to report to work on the new CW series “The Beautiful Life.”

A CW spokesman for the show, which stars Barton as a pill-popping supermodel, said last week that production was scheduled to begin Friday.

Star reported this week that the very bad reviews of Mischa’s latest movie, Homecoming, contributed to her breakdown and that “she is upset over her sagging career, and she doesn’t think anybody really cares about her.” Hopefully Mischa realized that people do care and is now ready to move on with her career and her life. She has a lot of opportunities and advantages that the rest of us can only dream about, and maybe she’s starting to realize that. At least she has a job to go to now that she’s out.

Radar Online points us to this interview with Mischa Barton, taken on June 27 when she opened the Harrod’s Summer Sale in London. Her voice is very hoarse and her eyes are droopy. She looks like she’s on something and out of it, which is sad because the answers she gives to the fashion questions are kind of impressive. Mischa always struck me as a smart, aware person and I really hate to see her like this. She slips into a British accent occasionally, but she lived in England until she was five and has parents who are English and Irish so that’s understandable. It’s her kind of sleepy, slurry appearance that makes me feel for Mischa and hope she gets help. There’s also another interview with Barton taken that day in which she’s filmed from father away and seems more coherent.

People Magazine has been running stories about Barton nonstop since she was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold. They’re saying she’s a party girl who didn’t know her limits, that she had a falling out with close friends over her drug use, and that she has body image issues made worse by the media’s focus on her weight.

She has big self-esteem issues. … She hates her legs,” says a source close to Barton. “She isn’t comfortable with her body. It’s been a big source of stress and self-hate.”

Speculation about 23-year-old actress’s weight and nasty comments from tabloids and blogs also fueled insecurity.

“She had a big problem with those photos of her cellulite. … She didn’t like it,” says another source. “That just was something that contributed to her spiraling but she didn’t do much to fix it because of her partying.”

While another friend tells PEOPLE the photos upset the former O.C. star – “[She was] more pissed off than hurt and she complained a lot about that” – she didn’t let them get “to her too much. … I never saw her diet.”

But when photos showed a thinner Barton, she took to her blog and spoke out about the “crazy press,” telling fans that she’s “happier and healthier than ever so there’s no need to worry about me.”

Some people say they saw this coming, but I wouldn’t have guessed that Barton had any issues other than smoking up and drinking too much like a lot of young people. She comes across as articulate and self aware without being self absorbed, and that’s rare for young women in that industry. I’ve thought that friends of mine were fine, too, and didn’t find out that they were really hurting until things were out of control. Barton is just 23 and she can get her life back on track if she’s serious about her sobriety. As far as we know, she’s still in the hospital being treated. Maybe this is the wake up call she needed. Mischa has her whole life ahead of her and I hate to see the media trash her for this. She’s only human, and she has a real chance to turn things around.

With fourteen kids running around, it’s no surprise that it’d be nearly impossible for Nadya Suleman to keep track of who’s eating what. Unfortunately all of the kids are under the age of eight, which puts most of them squarely in the “likes to put non-food items in mouth” age. This weekend Nadya’s 2-year-old son Caleb ingested some of the saline solution from his older brother’s volcano kit. Though he threw it up, Nadya called 911 and he went to the hospital – which naturally resulted in a bit of internet pandemonium.

Nadya Suleman is facing some new drama! Her 2-year-old son, Caleb, was treated and released from a Los Angeles-area hospital Friday after accidentally ingesting a chemical mixture from a home volcano kit. “He’ll be perfectly fine,” Suleman, 33, told RadarOnline.com after returning home with her son from a precautionary trip to the St. Jude Medical Center’s emergency room. Caleb, one of Suleman’s 14 children, vomited at the family’s La Hambra, Calif., home after swallowing liquid from his older brother’s volcano kit, prompting Suleman to dial 911. The boy was taken by ambulance to the Fullerton, Calif., hospital, underwent diagnostic tests and was released. According to Suleman, no further tests or medication will be needed. During the ordeal, Suleman’s other children – including her nearly 6-month-old octuplet babies – remained under the supervision of nannies.

Radar reported that the aforementioned “chemical mixture” was actually a saline solution. They also noted that police and CPS workers visited the home as required.

Nadya returned home with 2-year old Caleb at 10:45pm PT and he is fine. Two hospital social service workers went to Nadya’s home to interview her children. Two police officers were also there providing security. It was all standard operating procedure. After 15 minutes inside the social workers determined everything was fine and they left with no further action.

While I’d like to say this is obviously what happens when you have fourteen kids, a kid swallowing non-food items can happen to any parent. I’m sure having fourteen kids doesn’t help, but Caleb drank something that, while he probably shouldn’t have been given access to it, also was part of a toy. It’s not as though he got into anything under the sink – that would have indicated a bigger problem.

And I am well acquainted with this childhood almost-rite of passage. When I was five I swallowed a penny. How’d I do that? Well naturally I had it in my mouth while I was watching television. I’ve never liked to watch TV without having some other activity to focus on, and there was no internet back in 1986. So the next logical way to distract myself was to put spare change in my mouth and clink it back and forth between my teeth. This was surprisingly satisfying. After about day five of this activity a penny naturally flew into the back of my mouth, and I decided it was better to swallow it than try to pull it out. Luckily. It left my body on its own accord, thanks to the digestive powers of youth. A few months later my 1-year-old sister swallowed a leg from a Cootie game. She always had to one-up me.

You’ve probably heard by now that Mischa Barton had some sort of episode at her home and had to be taken to the hospital under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

People Magazine has a whole story chronicling all of Barton’s “troubles” and saying she’s a “party girl.” She drank a lot and was often photographed drunk, and she does have one DUI. She took responsibility for that, though, and seems like she handled it well in light of everything. She did have some normal personal issues like breakups with guys, but she’s young, and she’s always struck me as much more level headed than her peers.

I’m going to wildly speculate what happened, and a lot of people are going to assume it was “illegal” drugs, but I would bet it was some sort of prescription drug issue, either abuse of prescription drugs and alcohol or some kind of accident or side effect. I have no information whatsoever to make that assumption except for the story that she had dental surgery three weeks ago along with the fact so many people are having this problem lately.

I’ve seen friends become addicted to painkillers they really needed, their personalities totally changing in the process. Add a couple of cocktails in there and it can cause a person to really lose it. A drug interaction or new prescription can also lead to psychiatric problems that are completely uncharacteristic for a person.

All we know is that a young actress went to the psych ward and we have no idea what she was taking, if anything. When the same thing happened to Britney, though, people were quick to say she was crazy. They ignored the fact that Sam Lutfi was slipping drugs in potentially harmful combinations into her food. She did flip out, but she was also drugged against her will most of the time and people forget that. You mix some of that stuff together and it can really mess a person up. Sure there is free will and personal responsibility, but that doesn’t mean we can’t show compassion and give someone the benefit of the doubt.

Ten to one Mischa had a bad reaction to something, illegal or not, and she didn’t just wig out on her own. We’ll have to wait and see if we learn what happened though, and for now this is pure conjecture. The important thing is that she’s ok, is under supervision, and will hopefully get proper treatment. Janice Dickinson had to be rushed from the jungle set of “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here” after suffering from a viral infection. It turns out that seventy years of living off carrots and heroin will leave you with a sorta weak immune system. Okay that’s not fair, I don’t know that to be true. Viral infections can be harsh on anyone, I have no reason to believe all the vegetables and drugs made it any worse for Janice Dickinson. But that’s still my completely unproven, B.S. theory.

Janice Dickinson was rushed away from the Costa Rican set of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! with a medical emergency, a production source tells Usmagazine.com.

“She is not in the hospital,” the source says. “It’s fair to say she was taken by ambulance this weekend from camp to an on-site medical facility for treatment for an undisclosed condition.”

The former model has complained of hunger and bronchitis on the NBC show.

Details will be revealed on tonight’s episode.

“Her fate is decided tonight,” another source tells Us. “Either she quits, or she might be too sick to go on, or she’s taken off — or she may go back to camp.”

From the little snippet of the incident on Radar’s site, it seems like everything ends up okay for Janice. She’s shown at the end waving people off and saying something about how she’s fine. They also mention the viral infection, though don’t specify what it is or how she got it. I could make a lot of offensive jokes about the possibilities, but it looks like Janice was in legitimate pain so I’m going to contain the snark for a few minutes. She also strikes me as a tough old bird. If I had to place my money on anyone, it’d be her. I mean she managed to deal with years of acrimony with Sylvester Stallone AND Tyra Banks. That woman’s a fighter.

Heidi Montag was rushed to the hospital in Costa Rica on Saturday after suffering from a rumored gastric ulcer brought on by stress while filming the NBC reality show “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.” Heidi and her new husband, Spencer Pratt, were sequestered in a dark room called the “lost chamber” as their punishment for quitting the show and then opting to return. They were either there for three days without food and water with large spiders being dropped on them from above, if Heidi’s sister-in-law is to be believed, or were there for 14 hours and were given food and water, if NBC is telling the truth.

Heidi’s sister-in-law, Stephanie Pratt, says the couple was tortured on the show and treated like terrorists. Producers claim that Heidi and Spencer were treated fairly, that they acted as if everything was ok when they were released, and were never in any danger. Meanwhile Spencer is said to be planning to sue NBC. Whatever happened to these two, Heidi’s medical condition seems to show that she was under an undue amount of stress. She was said to have been throwing up convulsively, which brought on the (rumored) ulcer:

That’s what their family is claiming. A show insider, on the other hand, says all reports that the pair were mistreated have been greatly exaggerated.

“They kept them locked up and through the roof they were dropping spiders the size of [Heidi's] hands in on her in the black,” Spencer’s sister, Stephanie, just told me at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation’s A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival in L.A.

“They treated them like they were criminals or terrorists,” she added.

Stephanie said Heidi, who was reportedly rushed to a local Costa Rica hospital yesterday, was transferred to another medical facility today. She said she wasn’t sure what the final diagnosis was. But it sure doesn’t sound pretty…

“She was throwing up 30 times with nothing in her stomach,” Stephanie said. “She was really sick. She thought she was dying….I know they pulled such shitty antics,” she said. “But being treated like criminals or terrorists? It’s insane!”

The newlyweds will likely return home sometime this week, according to Stephanie.

A rep for NBC declined to comment, but ITV Studios, producers of I’m a Celebrity, deny any wrongdoing.
My show insider insists the newlyweds were not only fed, but they were only in the lost chamber for about 14 hours. “They slept most of the time,” said the insider, who asked not to be identified. “And when they weren’t sleeping, they were laying side by side praying.”

As for the spiders, the insider said, “There were no bugs added to the chamber. Maybe there was a small one that Spencer tried to kill.”

The insider also said Heidi was not vomiting: “They were in happy spirits when they came out of the chamber.”

We’ll get to see everything tomorrow night when the latest I’m a Celebrity airs. “Everything is documented because there are cameras on them all the time,” the insider said. “There are interviews, too.”

Radar Online had unreleased footage last week of Heidi trying to throw up for some reason, probably because she ate something unpalatable. She claimed “I don’t know how to throw up.”

Heidi might have just been unable to handle it all and to have been more affected than someone else would have been in that situation. Reality shows are a tough business and while they’re cheaper to produce than “scripted” shows they also bring up all sorts of ethical issues, even in seemingly benign shows like “Jon & Kate Plus 8″

I was hoping this story would turn out to be false or exaggerated, but now that People Magazine is running it there seems to be a sad element of truth to it. Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who took second place in the “Britain’s Got Talent finals” on Saturday night, is said to have been taken to a clinic after an emotional breakdown following the show.

Susan shot to fame seven weeks ago with her haunting and powerful rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” on the “Britains Got Talent” auditions, which quickly became the most viewed video clip on the Internet of all time. She’s a down-to-earth 48 year-old unemployed woman from a small town in Scotland. Up until recently it seemed like she was dealing with everything well, and she did several gracious interviews on big shows like Oprah and Larry King Live. We heard last week that Susan was having trouble with the pressure and constant attention, though. She got upset and was overheard swearing loudly in two separate incidents ahead of the show’s final. She ultimately took second place in the competition, behind the dance troupe Diversity. That seemed fair considering that the only other song we heard from her, “Memory” from Cats, was a little shaky.

Susan was calm and kind on stage when she lost, but you could understandably see some strain on her face. She is said to have had problems handling it all after the show, and an ambulance had to be called to her hotel. She is now resting in a private clinic.

Following a crushing defeat on Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle was admitted to a private clinic in London Sunday for treatment of exhaustion, according to Britain’s Daily Mail.

Police were summoned to Boyle’s hotel in the British capital, where the Scottish singing sensation exhibited symptoms of “emotional breakdown” following the show’s Saturday finale, the paper reports.

“We were called about 6 p.m. on Sunday to a central London hotel to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act,” a police spokesperson tells the paper.

“Police attended at the request of ambulance personnel and the woman was taken voluntarily to a clinic. No one was arrested and there were no allegations of crime.”

A spokeswoman at London’s Priory Clinic – where Boyle was reportedly rushed – would not confirm or deny whether the star had been admitted, the paper reports.

Britain’s Got Talent producers released the following statement: “Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery … We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.”

Susan seems to have a bright future ahead of her. She’s beloved around the world and can easily have a long and profitable career – if that’s what she wants. Maybe she hasn’t had enough time to process everything and think about whether this is the route she wants to take with her life. It’s got to be hard to come to terms with the quick way her world was turned around, and all of that has got to take a toll on a person. She went from living a quiet existence in the same small town she grew up in to becoming famous and having paparazzi outside her door. Hopefully Susan will get the rest and help she needs to decide what she wants to do next.

Judge Piers Morgan has confirmed that Susan is taking some time off, saying “I spoke to her yesterday for about half an hour and she’s fine. She’s gone in for some rest.
