Even though Keira Knightley is freakishly thin, I used to believe her when she said she wasn’t anorexic. Why? Because I have this stupid desire to see the best in people and figure they know themselves better than I do. So when Keira Knightley says she’s just got the world’s most freaky metabolism, I wanted to believe her. She even sued people for saying she was anorexic and went out of her way to say she doesn’t want to promote eating disorders, yada yada. And she seems to be one of the more intelligent women in Hollywood. But mostly because I am gullible, I suppose. But Keira made some comments to Female First that make it pretty clear she’s suffering from anorexia, along with body dysmorphic disorder. She gave some shockingly frightening quotes, and I’m not taking that out of context.

“‘Weight is a big issue in Hollywood because I’m twice the size - height and everything else - of most of the girls who are going in to see the director for a part. When you realise that I am, at my size, one of the largest actresses there, you start to think, ‘I don’t think it’d be healthy for me to stay here much longer.’”

Well I do have to agree with Keira, in terms of it not being healthy for her to stay in Hollywood much longer. But not because everyone else is messed up and way too skinny, but because her perception is so messed up. I can’t imagine that she weighs more than 90 pounds, max. But because of said previous lawsuits from a paper suggesting she is anorexic, I’m just letting Keira’s lawyers know that I think she’s just the absolutely picture of health, both body and mind.

“The 22-year-old actress has been criticised in the past because of her weight, and accused of having an eating disorder. She was awarded £3,000 damages earlier this year after a British national newspaper suggested she was anorexic.

“Keira has always vehemently denied the claims, but has revealed the life-threatening illness runs in her family. She previously said: ‘I’ve got a lot of experience with anorexia. My grandmother and great-grandmother suffered from it, and I had a lot of friends at school who suffered from it. I know it’s not something to be taken lightly and I don’t.’”

It seems like in the past, she knew how to say just the right things, but this one slip really goes to the heart of the issue. Keira’s able to exist in Hollywood more successfully than other starlets with issues because she isn’t out boozing and clubbing and flashing her lady bits at any photographer who’s willing to look. So people generally lay off her. I remember Nicole Richie freaking out on paparazzi on several occasions for the “eat a sandwich” type comments they were always typing her way. While I’m not sure of it, it doesn’t seem like Keira has to deal with that in London. She generally lives a respectable life (at least by most appearances) so people lay off a bit. Thus no one’s screaming at her (via their keyboards, of course) like we all do at Britney and Lindsay to get their shit together. But frankly, I really hope someone helps her. Something is clearly off.

Jenna Jameson walked the runway for New York designer Heatherette yesterday, and looked like death on a stick. I know she’s blamed her scary weight loss on her diagnosis of malignant melanoma, but that was back in November of 2004 – so nearly three years ago. She had the misshapen mole removed the following month, and says she’s been “100 percent cancer free” since then. So that really doesn’t explain why she looks as skeletal as ever. She seemed to be looking a little healthier lately – less orange tan (after a skin cancer diagnosis, you’d hope even a porn star could at least stay away from the tanning machine) – took out her fake boobs, seemed to have put a little weight back on her emaciated frame. But it seems the porn star has gotten a little skeletal again, considering how he looked on the runway.

“Jenna Jameson is making a transition from the seedy world of porn into the Hollywood celebrity set and has been doing the rounds at New York Fashion Week. She recently stole the show when she walked the red carpet at the Heatherette show looking like a shadow of her former self.

The actress has been battling rumours she is struggling with anorexia for the last few months but she has dismissed those reports and blamed her recent bitter divorce. The Queen of Porn has said it upsets her when fans tell her to “eat a burger” or that they prefer the “old Jenna.” Jenna had posted this message on her MySpace page in response to the accusations a couple of months ago but her situation has not improved and she has gone on to lose even more weight.

When Jenna first started losing too much weight, she blamed the stress of the skin cancer diagnosis (which also caused her to have a miscarriage). That’s totally understandable, but as those issues faded into the background, she didn’t look any healthier, and has recently been blaming the stress of her (albeit very acrimonious) divorce.

“I feel like I need to address the weight rumors that have been swirling for a few months now. This saddens me… only because, everyone that is judging me… has absolutely NO idea what is happening in my life. People are hateful and accuse me of being a drug addict, or an anorexic.

Does anyone seem to remember the fact that I am going through a nasty divorce? It has been weighing heavily on me. I worked extremely hard for years to secure my success, and i have been forced to fight for everything I busted my ass for. This has definitely affected my weight. It really hurts that my fans (and everyone else) have taken it upon themselves to be so horrible, screaming eat a burger! or we want the old Jenna back! I’m sure everyone out there has gone through tough times, and this is when I need support.

“I wish I could enlighten everyone with what is exactly going on in my divorce and business, but I can’t because of legal proceedings. I know a lot of people don’t eat when they’re stressed, but when you have chronic stress and don’t eat as a result, that is a real problem. I’m not sure if it’s anorexia by definition, but she sure seems beyond the point of having lost “stress weight.” Anorexia is a disease that - for many sufferers - is about control. When you can’t control all the other stressful things in your life, you can control how little you eat. It seems logical that Jenna could be having those issues right now. Since she spent so many years in such a body-focused industry, it makes sense that she could try to control that one area of her life right now, and take it too far. She doesn’t look quite as cartoonish as she did for a while – though her boobs still don’t look natural to me, even though she claimed to have had her implants removed. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when her divorce is over – if she’ll magically put on some weight, or if she’ll come up with a new excuse.

According to the latest National Enquirer, Owen Wilson was on a new antidepressant right before he attempted suicide, sparking fears that side effects from the unnamed drug might have prompted his self-destructive behavior.

Owen’s suicide attempt, in which he slit his wrists and took a large quantity of pills, was his third attempt at killing himself. His friend Woody Harrelson staged two interventions to try and save him. And while most of us thought that Owen was in the hospital in the week before Labor Day, The Enquirer claims he was holed up at Harrelson’s house for several days.

Owen’s recent depression also had nothing to do with his split from Kate Hudson or with her high-profile romance with Dax Shephard, according to the Enquirer. As is consistent with other reports, they say that he was the one who broke up with Kate, that he didn’t regret it, and that it was an argument with a friend over a business matter that left him distraught:

An in-depth Enquirer investigation also reveals stunning new details about the story that has rocked Hollywood, including the fact that the deeply troubled star was on a deadly drug cocktail in the months before his most recent suicide attempt, mixing illegal drugs with antidepressants and Valium.

As Owen spiraled downward into drug use and depression, his close friend Woody Harrelson tried two interventions to save him.

“This isn’t the first time Owen tried to commit suicide,” a family friend revealed exclusively to the Enquirer.

“A good portion of his life has been dedicated to fighting depression and addiction. Owen’s been on and off drugs for years - and this is actually the third time he’s tried killing himself…”

The Enquirer has learned that Owen secretly has been plagued by many career and personal demons for a long time, but was sent hurtling toward the edge by a huge fight with a close friend, who was working with him on a movie project, say sources.

The comedy star’s failure to write any material for the production triggered the clash…

While most of the world thought Owen was still in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center - where he was transferred after being treated at Saint John’s Health Center - The Enquirer learned he quietly checked out on Wednesday, August 29, at around 11 am and went to Woody’s Beverly Hills home, where he stayed for several days…

Contrary to reports elsewhere, Owen’s breakup with Kate Hudson is not what pushed him over the edge. In fact, it was Owen who ended that relationship…

The actor also started taking a popular antidepressant - which can have devastating side effects, according [sic] a source close to the case. The antidepressant was legally prescribed to him…

The side effects of the antidepressant could well have triggered Owen’s suicide attempt, say medical experts contact by The Enquirer.

Several commentors mentioned here that while a lot of people were surprised over Owen’s suicide attempt, it just brought home how common and hidden depression can be. Commentor Amanda said “I have read numerous reports about people saying he doesn’t seem like the type. There is no type. My best friend killed himself 13 months ago and he was the last person you would think would do it. I also deal with manic depression and no one would guess that I am depressed let alone that I nearly killed myself 6 months ago. Point being just because someone appears happy and ‘normal’ doesn’t mean they are.”

After hearing those type of stories, I guess it’s not surprising that Owen had earlier attempts. He seems to have a good support system with his two brothers and good friends like Woody and I hope he makes it through to the other side soon. He seems like a very good guy, and he’s quite talented. We would love for him to continuing entertaining us well into his old age, if that’s what he wants to do.

If you or a friend or family member is depressed please talk about it and get help. Owen’s case shows us that you shouldn’t wait until it’s too late, and thank goodness he didn’t do permanent damage.

It sells a lot of tabloids to claim that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are breaking up, and they seem to have broken up in the glossies at least three times this year despite the fact that they’ve only been apart for a few days here and there. This is also one of many times that Angelina has been said to have some medical problem, because it’s easy to speculate that she’s unhealthy based on how thin she is.

This week is no exception, with The Enquirer claiming that Brad and Angelina had a huge fight and that Brad wants to keep the kids once their relationship inevitably ends. The only thing substantive they seem to have to support this is the fact that Brad told Maddox to say “excuse me” when he interrupted the guide at the Chicago Field Museum, which made Angelina give Brad him a dirty look. There was also a supposed screaming match at home between the two, but to me it sounds like only that detail from the museum is true and that the screaming match was fabricated, because the details are more vague:

When the museum guide was showing the family around the exhibits, excited little Maddox… couldn’t help but butt in on the guide’s conversation,” an insider explained.

“Brad scolded Mads and told him that he needs to say: ‘Excuse me, sir,” and ‘Pardon me, sir’ before he jumps in and starts asking questions.

“Brad was trying to teach him some manners, but Angelina was giving Brad dirty looks for scolding Mads.”

The article goes on to say that it happened again at home the next day where Maddox interrupted them and Brad told him to say “excuse me” which resulted in a screaming match because Angelina didn’t agree on that issue. If these two break up, Brad will want to make sure that he retains custody of the children, The Enquirer claims.

My husband and I disagree about how to discipline our kid all the time, and we’re not going to break up over it. It’s hard to reach a common ground on that issue. Angelina rolling her eyes is hardly enough for a full story, so they have to say they were yelling at home over the same thing. It could be true, but I doubt it.

Meanwhile Star takes it to the next level - death - and says that Angelina is suffering from hepatitis. It seems like speculation from journalists who looked at pictures of how thin she is. Remember when The National Enquirer said back in April on the cover that she was suffering from some “Deadly Disease” and then claimed inside that it was anorexia?

Star says that “friends fear” and “doctors, who have not treated the actress, say.” That sounds to me like they’re making it up and covering their asses.

But now a source tells Star that friends and family of partner Brad Pitt fear that all these symptoms may be pointing to something far more serious than an eating disorder - they’re afraid Angie could be fighting a potentially deadly liver disease!

“Angelina has had a lot of doctor’s appointments - some she’s gone to, some she’s skipped,” a source notes. Meanwhile, adds the insider, Brad has confided to family members that the 32-year-old actress has an illness that isn’t going away, something she “will have to live with… and control with medication.”

Brad, says the source, finally “convinced Angelina to go see a doctor because he was afraid something was very wrong with her. She doesn’t have much of an appetite and is eating very little. Tests were run and Brad’s family were led to believe that her illness might be something like hepatitis, but since then he’s clammed up. I think he knows what’s wrong, but he’s keeping it from people.”

There’s no evidence that Angelina has hepatitis apart from that supposed vague statement Brad gave. They go on to quote doctors who talk about the disease. Angelina is also said to be having mood swings and fighting with Brad a lot.

In verifiable Brangelina news, the two skinny superstars helicoptered to the Hamptons this weekend to host a benefit for Brad’s Make It Right project, which builds environmentally-friendly homes for Katrina victims. I wonder if a caterer witnessed Angelina holding onto a chair for support and if that’s going to turn into another medical scare. Maybe she asked Brad to get her wrap from off her chair and that means she’s ordering him around.

When it comes to these two, I won’t believe it’s true without decent evidence. It could be partially true, but the worse their relationship and the more fragile the state of Angelina’s health, the more tabloids sell.

So in news that isn’t exactly all that shocking, Amy Winehouse has officially canceled all of her North American tour. Rumblings have been going on for quite a while, and to be fair we all assumed she would, just because she’s that way. And she has. Even before the whole rehab in-and-out debacle, it was pretty much assumed she’d cancel her shows because she was so drunk all the time that bookies were actually placing odds on her showing up. Of course her PR people are vague – is she canceling because she’ll be in rehab, or canceling because she’ll be too plastered? At last check, Amy was out on the lose again, but that could change at any moment. I feel like we need some type of Amy Winehouse alert system here.

“‘Due to the rigors involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September U.S. and Canadian tour dates,’ the British singer’s publicist, Tracy Miller, said in a statement Tuesday.

“‘Amy’s European and U.K. tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her U.S. tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health.’

Last week, it was announced that the 23-year-old was canceling all her August performances due to ‘severe exhaustion.’ While British tabloids have claimed the retro-soul singer has been in rehab due to drug abuse, her spokeswoman has denied such claims.”

You know what can improve your health when you have a drinking problem? Going to rehab and staying there. Divorcing your loser, enabling, drug mule husband. That’s obviously pretty easy to say from the outside looking in. We’ve all gone through hard times, and sometimes it’s rather embarrassing to look back on them. It’s going to be rather mortifying when Amy looks back on this someday. Though at this point I’m really just hoping she gets to “someday.”

Our dear little Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital this morning, amid much fanfare. No one seems to know why, but her very creative PR rep searched the annals of medicine to come up with the most creative malady known to the entertainment world: Exhaustion. That’s right, Amy Winehouse is suffering from one of the most extreme, debilitating, and life-altering cases of exhaustion ever known to man. Doctors really should study her and write the case up for publication in every known medical journal. Because truly, this is a case of unparalleled severity. Most shocking is that Winehouse will have to cancel the rest of her well-attended tour.

“TMZ has learned that Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital this morning after some sort of incident.

“Winehouse’s rep confirms to TMZ that the tatted up singer was taken to a London hospital and treated for ‘exhaustion.’ The rep says Winehouse has since been discharged and is currently at home. She has been ordered to take ‘complete rest.’

“When asked what prompted this, the rep would only say ‘it came about quickly.’ No other details were available.

”Winehouse’s rep says that the singer’s grueling world tour schedule is most likely to blame.

”For now, no no no more shows for Amy. They’ve all been canceled.”

Ooh Ooh, look how surprised I’m not. Why won’t anyone explain to Amy Winehouse that too much alcohol + too many drugs – enough food = exhaustion. It’ a pretty consistent equation. I’m pretty sure that if you wanted to sit around and do some math, you could calculate the average of how many shows Amy Winehouse has actually shown up for, and it’d be around 50%, max. You might think to yourself, “Hey, 50% is half, that isn’t that bad.” But let me take you back to your college days and remind you that 50% is an F. So I’m giving Amy Winehouse a big F on life. Or at least on creativity.

Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland collapsed on stage during the ThisDay Music Festival in Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday. Her rep, of course, claimed it was due to dehydration. The number of celebrities who suffer from dehydration and exhaustion compared to the rest of the population is just astronomical. Do you think it’s something about the California sun? The smoggy New York City air? Maybe something the Screen Actors Guild puts in their swag bags? The world may never know. Videos of the collapse are floating around YouTube, and it’s one dramatic crash. Rowland appears fine seconds prior, then she’s just down. She was taken to a hospital and treated, and returned to the US on Monday.

Rowland’s spokesperson Yvette Noel-Schure confirmed that Rowland did suffer a fainting spell as a result of dehydration.

“She was taken to an undisclosed local hospital for a check-up and is in good condition at present,” she said.

Schure said the 26-year-old singer is on a plane flying back to the US today and plans to continue the promotions for her new project.”

AOL’s Black Voices blog insinuates that something bigger might be going on with Rowland by comparing her to other celebrities who were diagnosed with dehydration or exhaustion, but later admitted or were strongly suspected of having eating disorders or substance abuse problems.

Rowland isn’t the only Grammy Award winner to suffer from dehydration.

Her galpal Brandy Norwood experienced a bout in the 1990s on the set of her TV show ‘Moesha’ and later admitted to having an eating disorder.

Chart-topping R&B heart-throb Usher also suffered a from dehydration and exhaustion.

Top selling diva Mariah Carey was hospitalized [at] Massachusetts General Hospital for a few days in the spring of 2000. Hospital spokeswoman Georgia Pierce said Carey was treated for dehydration and other side effects of food poisoning.

More recently, tabloid sensations Britney Spears and Nicole Richie were treated for “dehydration.”

Kelly Roland’s always seemed like one of the more together celebrities. She doesn’t get a ton of press, but in interviews she comes off as intelligent, and several of her songs actually have really great messages. I tend to agree with most people and believe that the “dehydration” diagnoses are pure bull, but I’m more inclined to believe it from her than others. She doesn’t have a history of canceling performances, and I’m no weatherman, but I’m under the impression Nigeria can be pretty hot.

It sounds like British rag News of The World is just taking tabloid reports about Britney to the next level. They claim she freaked out at the beginning of the week, wrote 666 on her head, and unsuccessfully tried to hang herself with a sheet from a light fixture in her room at that spa rehab Promises. Then the love of K-Fed saved her and she now wants another one of his babies to ignore. If this is true why are they the only source reporting it?

In a week of rehab madness the bonkers beauty wrote the number of the beast, 666, on her shaved head before running round the clinic screaming “I am the Antichrist!” at frightened staff.

“Later that night she tried to kill herself,” a friend told us. “She attached a sheet to a light and tied it around her neck. Paramedics were called, but luckily she was unhurt.”

But within days out-of-control Britney had swung from SUICIDAL to MATRIMONIAL as she told hubby Kevin Federline she wanted to take him back, renew their wedding vows and get PREGNANT.

The unpredictable 25-year-old star is now planning a new life for them and their two children in Louisiana as she sees out her stay at the Promises Clinic in Malibu, California.

A source close to the clinic said: “Britney has realised what a rock Kevin has been to her, and how out of control she has acted recently.

“She has been talking to Kevin every night for hours on the phone, telling him she still loves him.

“She just wants to be with him again, and thinks having another baby will seal their marriage.

“Britney seems much happier and has calmed down a lot. She’s a completely different Britney from the beginning of the week.”

Staff at the addiction clinic will be relieved.

Most of the US gossip rags are reporting that Britney and K-Fed are going to renew their vows once she gets out of rehab. In Touch speculates that she’s suicidal, but it just sounds like they’re jumping to conclusions. If she tried to hang herself earlier in the week we would have heard about it by now. Add the news that she’s clamoring for another baby and it sounds ridiculous. News of the World is just raising the gossip bar to sell papers.

News of the World also claims that Britney was said to be hooked on crystal meth, which isn’t that much of a stretch given her crazed behavior. We’ll have to see how she fares in rehab. She will hopefully kick drugs and booze but she also needs to gain some common sense and modesty. At least she’s on the right track.

Kylie Minogue’s unrelenting tour schedule seems to have taken a toll on the Australian singer. Minogue is in remission from breast cancer and people fear for her health after she cut a concert short and cancelled two others scheduled for tonight and tomorrow. Doctors say she has a respiratory infection and ordered her to rest.

Minogue, recovering from a battle with breast cancer, also cut short Saturday night’s gig after only 45 minutes.

Doctors diagnosed a chest infection — several of her crew are believed to have flu — and urged her to rest to be able to sing on Thursday and Friday.

Minogue’s British Showgirl Homecoming Tour followed a successful, but hectic, comeback tour of Australia.

A fan at Saturday’s concert said it was upsetting to see her suffering so obviously on stage.

“She tried to reassure us, but so many people were crying,” said office worker Alice Kennett, 27.

The singer told Saturday night’s disappointed audience she was unwell as soon as she appeared on stage.

She struggled through about nine songs before calling it quits.

“I must apologise because I can’t sing all the words tonight. I’ve got a cold and I’m struggling a bit. Do you mind if I just stand here and pose all night?” she said.

She was joined on stage by sister Dannii before abandoning the show.

The show was her 29th out of a 33th show tour of England and Australia.

We ran a questionable gossip item last week that Minogue is smoking a lot of pot. Whether or not that’s true, she seems to have pushed herself too hard in her incredible comeback tour. Best wishes to Kylie for a quick recovery and hopefully she’ll get the rest she needs.

The story is that Lindsay really did go to the hospital to have her appendix removed, but bloodwork found abnormal levels of liver enzymes and low protein, suggesting her liver is suffering from all that vodka she consumes. The National Enquirer makes it out to be a grave situation, but Lindsay is young and if she dries out and starts living healthy she might be fine. It’s doubtful that will ever happen, though. She seems to have serious emotional problems that she might actually have to think about if she stopped drinking and stayed in for a few nights. She should learn to cope with life’s dissapointments by just watching television like the rest of us. She’s certainly got the shopping therapy down:

The ENQUIRER has uncovered the REAL story behind Lindsay’s recent emergency appendectomy on Jan. 4.

“The appendectomy was routine, but what doctors discovered in her blood work was not,” a source close to the actress told The ENQUIRER.

“Lindsay’s liver panel shows her drinking is taking a terrible toll on her health. Her liver enzymes are extremely elevated, and doctors warned her if she doesn’t quit boozing she could die!”

The high levels of two particular liver enzymes indicate that some of Lindsay’s liver cells are damaged and are leaking these enzymes into her blood.

In addition to the raised enzymes, the levels of protein in her liver were shockingly low — so low her doctors “couldn’t believe she was even walking around,” said an insider.

Lindsay needs an intervention, but that would mean she wouldn’t get her picture taken for the few weeks she spends out of the bars while she cleans up. What do you think she’ll miss more - the publicity or the booze?
