Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher won’t confirm the birth of their second child

wenn2833903
I remember reading that Isla Fisher, Sacha Baron Cohen’s wife, was pregnant with the couple’s second child, but it kind of slipped my mind because we don’t hear much about the two of them. There was some minor drama a couple of years ago about whether they would ever get married, which they did in March after Isla reportedly converted to Judiasm. It took eight years and two kids together before they made it legal. Apart from that we rarely hear about them although there are the occasional paparazzi photos of Isla out with their daughter.

Now we have some candids of Sacha, Isla, their oldest child Olive, two and a half, and a baby carriage presumably carrying their new arrival. They looked pissed as hell to be photographed out together in the photos we’ve seen. (Which we don’t have access to, you can see a photo on Celebrity Baby Scoop and another one on E! Online and People has a third.) They seem to be very protective of their family, and I guess I don’t blame them. They didn’t confirm Isla’s pregnancy and they’ve refused to confirm the new baby or even the gender. Is this a bitchy move or something they should be respected for?

Who’s that strolling in London Friday with Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher and 2½-year-old daughter Olive?

It seems as though the trio has welcomed the latest addition to their family, although a rep for the actress says they likely won’t be commenting on the birth of the new baby.

The intensely private pair prefer it that way, having kept quiet about the impending arrival of their second child as well as their March nuptials.

We last spotted Fisher, 34, and Olive out and about in Los Angeles at the end of May, but the actress and husband Baron Cohen, 38, have managed to stay undercover since!

[From People]

It’s my feeling that since they’re famous, they each make a ton of money in movies and are public figures, the least they can do is confirm the birth and sex of the baby. They don’t have to tell us his or her name if they want to keep it private. I like how Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber handle the press. They’re low key and try not to draw attention to themselves but they acknowledge their kids and will talk about them occasionally. Maybe the paparazzo is screaming rude stuff to the Cohens, though, which would explain their bad moods along with their unwillingness to open themselves and their family up to scrutiny. I’m not in that position so it’s hard to tell.

Despite the fact that Sacha can probably no longer work his character-driven shtick on the public due to how famous and recognizable he is, he’s still earning a ton of money. We heard this spring that his agency struck a huge deal for him with Paramount for an upcoming comedy in which he’ll play two roles “a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the United States.” According to Deadline Hollywood, Cohen stands to make $30 – $80 million on the deal, which offers him a significant piece of the film’s gross. He didn’t sell out his family to get there though, that’s for sure.

Isla Fisher & Sacha Baron Cohen expecting second child – soon!
Isla Fisher Seems To Have Given Up Hiding Her Apparent Baby Bump!

No sooner did Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen walk down the aisle in Paris, then Isla shows up with something looking like a baby bump. Their “surprise” elopement happened about a month ago – and Isla looks to be carrying a second-trimester bump (if not third). Sacha and Isla have been together for eight years, and they already have a a 2-year-old, daughter Olive (in these photos with Isla). Here’s more from Fame Pictures:

It seems Isla Fisher has given up in hiding her apparent baby belly despite the fact that neither she nor her husband Sacha Baron Cohen have made an official announcement yet. The actress took a stroll hand in hand with her daughter Olive Cohen in Los Angeles, CA on April 20, 2010 wearing a shirt that showed off how prominent her belly had really become! It’s a wonder when the couple will officially announce the happy news!

[From Fame Pictures]

This news has been around for a few days, but these are the first photos we’ve had access to, that’s why I’m doing the story. Plus, I’m rather startled to see just how far along Isla is. She must have even had a considerable “bump” when she married Sacha in Paris. Ah, shotgun weddings. At least she got him down the aisle, right? And I think that was her goal in the end.

But you know what these photos really make me think of? Isla’s more talented doppelganger, Amy Adams! Amy is pregnant too, and it seems like she’s been gestating forever. She should be ready to give birth any minutes now, shouldn’t she? Ah, Amy. She’s my real favorite.

By the way, I mean the following images to be a representation of how I think Isla got knocked up:

Sacha Baron Cohen & Isla Fisher finally marry after 8 years together

wenn1056297

It finally happened! Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher were finally married in Paris over the weekend after a six-year engagement! Let me repeat: six-year engagement! And they were together for 2 years before that. That’s a total of eight years together! I didn’t think he was ever going to marry her. He made her convert to Judaism (or his mother made her convert, and Sacha‘s such a mama‘s boy that he does what mommy tells him), they had a daughter together (Olive, who is 2 years old), and he was still keeping Isla waiting. Apparently, their wedding ceremony was very low-key, and very few people were invited, but they notified their friends via e-mail. What the hell?

Borat punkster Sacha Baron Cohen and his fiancé Isla Fisher have married in an intimate Paris ceremony.

British comedian Sacha, 38, wed the Australian actress in a small Jewish ceremony last Monday, according to Aussie magazine Woman’s Day.

Isla, 34, confirmed the good news in an email to friends: “We did it — we’re married! It was the absolute best day of my life and in so many beautiful moments I missed you all so much. I thought of you as everything was happening, but Sacha and I wanted no fuss — just us!”

Sacha and Isla, who have a two-year-old daughter, Olive, have been engaged for six years. They met at a party in Sydney in 2002.

[From OK! Magazine]

Well, congratulations to Sacha and Isla. More to Isla, because she finally at long last got that sh-t nailed down, and this is obviously a man who needs a woman with a lot of patience. Well, he got her! Am I being too harsh? Obviously, they love each other and support each other, and I think they probably had other priorities, especially after Isla gave birth to Olive. And yet… Isla comes across as a girl who likes “tradition” and I’ve always suspected she wanted to be married before she gave birth. It doesn’t really matter to me, I’m saying it mattered to her. But obviously, other things mattered a lot more to Sacha (and his mom). Well, she converted and now everything’s settled. Mazel Tov!

Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Bruno’ is angering gay community

fp_3177664_bulls_bruno_photocall_062109
Who could have predicted it? Actually, I thought there might be trouble brewing in the gay community when as I read this line Sacha Baron Cohen delivered as Bruno, claiming that he wanted to “redress the wrong done to the gay community by that Hollywood movie on Harvey Milk which was acted by Sean Penn, who’s not even gay.” When Sacha brought Borat to film audiences, Kazakhstan formally protested the portrayal of the country in general, and of this fake Kazak in particular. Now, it seems like relatively small potatoes to mess with a poor, former Soviet-bloc country. Sacha’s Bruno has moved on to alienating a much more powerful group.

Page Six had a story up on Sunday about the start of some rumblings in Hollywood from some prominent Hollywood gays. Milk’s Oscar-winning screenwriter compared Bruno’s faux-gay act to a white person doing blackface – you knew someone was going to go there, might as well get out of the way fast. So far, a rep from GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has only made one comment, no formal condemnation yet:

“BRUNO” is raising gays’ temperatures to the boiling point. Despite Universal Pictures’ claim that the movie lampoons homophobia, the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy, opening July 10, has activists up in arms.

“I thought I was going to throw up,” gay writer-director Mike White said after a screening, according to TheWrap.com.

At a recent gala honoring Oscar-winning “Milk” screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, some gays likened Cohen’s limp-wristed portrayal of a flamboyant Austrian fashion reporter to a white person in blackface.

A rep for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation told us, “It’s really a 90-minute series of sketches — some of which hit their mark, but some of which hit our community instead.”

[From Page Six]

I tend to think GLAAD understands that if they protest too loudly, they’ll just be giving added promotion to Bruno. The film hasn’t come out in America yet (release date July 10th) so I don’t know if it really is bad, or just on the edge of grossly funny and grossly offensive. I suspect Sacha’s Bruno is a send-up of much more than just being gay – he seems to be making fun of the fashionistas, the celebrity “it” culture, and hip-because-it’s-Euro thing. Maybe I’m wrong and it really is bad, though. I’ll wait to see it.

On an added Sacha Baron Cohen note, it looks like he and fiancé Isla Fisher has postponed their wedding yet again. Apparently, they were going to have a wedding after Sacha finished all of his promotional duties for Bruno, but Isla just signed on for a film in Ireland, and will be gone for months. This is like the tenth postponement – at some point, they’re just going to start telling people “We don’t need to get married, we’re fine as is.” And I really hope they are – because I worry that Sacha might be one difficult bastard to get down the aisle. I’m lighting a candle for Isla.

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen celebrate 7th anniversary

fp_991125_cohen_fisher_baby
I love hearing about celebrities behaving like normal people. Sure, diva behavior and outrageous spending are fun, but there’s something about rich and famous people doing average things that warms my heart.

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen aka Borat are one of the most normal Hollywood couples, and their little girl is so cute. It’s nice to hear that despite their long engagement they still celebrate their anniversary seven years on.

ISLA FISHER and SACHA BARON COHEN planned to celebrate their anniversary by seeing hit movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE – but had to leave the theatre when they couldn’t find seats together. The engaged couple, who are parents to one-year-old daughter Olive, headed to the cinema to check out the critically-acclaimed film, which is nominated for 10 Academy Awards at next month’s (Feb09) ceremony.

But they were forced to improvise another romantic date after realising the venue was too crowded to find seats.

Fisher recalls, “They only had two seats apart and, as it was our seventh anniversary, it didn’t feel right to sit away from each other. So we just walked around in the New York snow.”

Contact Music

I can just imagine any old couple doing this to celebrate their anniversary, and I like it better than the elaborate stunts pulled by some celebrities. Not that building your girlfriend an igloo to propose isn’t a beautiful gesture, but every time I tell my husband about these kind of things he just rolls his eyes and says ‘another grand gesture I can’t compete with? I’m going to give up and buy you a toaster this year’. He sort of has a point. Most of us can’t afford to get crazy romantic, but what we can afford is to go for a walk with your partner, and maybe catch a movie.

Recently Joe Biden and his wife Jill went for a date night and were turned away from sold out sessions of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Like Isla and Sacha, they mulled over their other film choices before leaving, without demanding special treatment.

Isla Fischer: Pregnant women are ‘subject to body fascism’

I imagine that a lot of the joys of pregnancy could be utterly ruined by the paparazzi. Living with the constant pregnancy rumors is annoying enough. It’s worse once you actually get pregnant and have to read all the commentary on your “bump watch.” I can’t explain why, but the whole “bump” thing annoys the crap out of me. I find it incredibly creepy. Being a pregnant celeb means everyone is chatting about your body and feels free to chime in about it. Whether you’re too big or too small, everyone’s got an opinion.

Actress Isla Fisher pointed out how unfair and upsetting this “body fascism” is.

Isla Fisher says she was stunned someone had said she packed on too many pounds when she was expecting.

“When I was pregnant, I remember someone wrote on a blog that I had gained too much weight,” she recalls in December’s Australian issue of FHM (via London’s Daily Mail). “I remember being really shocked that even during something as incredible and beautiful as pregnancy, you are still subject to body fascism.”

How did the 32-year-old actress — who welcomed daughter Olive with Sacha Baron Cohen in 2007 — shed the 55 lbs. she gained while pregnant? Not by going to the gym!

“I have never been a big fan of working out and I’ve never been a sporty person – I was always more of a book worm,” says the actress, who headlines the 2009 comedy Confessions of a Shopaholic.

“I know it sounds like a cliche, but I’ve been blessed with good genes,” she adds. “My mum is little, and I’m fortunate that I don’t like eating junk food. I just don’t like the taste of it.”

[From Us Weekly]

Carnie Wilson has also gotten a lot of heat for her pregnancy weight gain. She was featured in OK! on October 28th as a weight loss success story. A little over a month later she has put on a ton of weight and looks nothing like her former shape. But she’s freaking pregnant! It’s probably safe to assume that the OK! photoshoot took place a couple weeks before the pictures were published. And frankly, if nothing else, she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation for her weight. Everyone’s body does different things when they’re pregnant. Some women look like the baby is bigger than they are, whereas others have tiny little bumps. It’s just the way it is.

I’d seriously suggest that all pregnant celebrities stay away from the tabloids (and the internet) until well after they give birth.

Here’s Isla on the cover of FHM and playing with daughter at the park on October 14th. Header at the “Hot Rod” premiere on July 26th, 2007. Images thanks to Fame.

Olive Cohen has a star studded birthday bash

Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox arrive at the party with Courteney’s daughter Coco, 4
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s little girl, Olive, turned one on Friday, so Mom and Dad threw her a cowgirl themed BBQ birthday party this weekend with a guest list to rival a Hollywood event. With guests and a menu that were much more suited to a grown-up party, Olive celebrated her first birthday with family friends Courtney Cox and David Arquette, who, according to OK! Magazine, smuggled Jennifer Aniston in on the floorboard of their car.

Other guests to the BBQ at Sacha and Isla’s house included Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi, Jack Black, Tobey Maguire, Kate Beckinsale, Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill. David Arquette gave himself the job of “in-SECURITY” and valet to the stars.

Getting into the party spirit, David Arquette acted as both parking valet and security guard for the cowgirl-themed bash. He even wore a t-shirt with the word “insecurity” emblazoned on the back, as he did his best to park the party guest’s cars and keep the paparazzi at bay.

Though witnesses tell OK! he could have done a bettter job with Ellen’s new Mercedes, which he managed to get wedged between two other cars.

When OK! spotted Ellen and wife Portia de Rossi leaving the party, we asked if they had any valet-parking tips for David. “Stay in school!” Joked Ellen.

[From OK! Magazine]

Sacha and Isla vacationed in Hawaii with the Arquettes and Maguires this summer, along with Leonardo DiCaprio. They look like they have a really good time together. While no mention was made of their kids being there, too, I’d assume they were and are all growing up in happy Hollywood fun together. Imagine funny it would be hanging out with Sacha and David Arquette, add in Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black and it might cause something to pop in your head.

Here are the stars outside Olive’s birthday party including her aunt, Rosanna Arquette, Laura Dern and Ben Harper with their daughter Jaya, 4, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Gary Shandling, Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres, Dustin Hoffman, Tobey Maguire’s wife Jennifer Myer and daughter Ruby, Ben Stiller, and Jonah Hill with a date. Jennifer Aniston is shown arriving with Courteney Cox and Coco and inside the party. She looks like she’s showing off a watch that John Mayer gave her, or at least looking at the time. At one point she gives Laura Dern a hug. Courteney’s daughter Coco, 4, is shown in a cowgirl outfit showing off a heart balloon. Credit: Fame Pictures

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s wedding postponed

“Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen is finding himself in the unpleasant position of being caught between his traditional Jewish parents and his modern working mom fiancee, actress Isla Fisher. The pair have been engaged for quite some time and now have a daughter, Olive. However, Cohen’s parents- particularly his mother- have insisted that the couple cannot wed until Isla has converted to Judaism. But Isla has been focused on her baby and burgeoning film career, putting her Jewish studies on the back burner- which means the wedding, originally scheduled for late summer, is now postponed indefinitely.

A source said: ‘Isla was supposed to spend her time after giving birth hard at work on her Torah studies, and that’s gone far slower than expected.

‘It’s very much frustrated her future in-laws, especially Sacha’s mother, who were really hoping for a wedding this summer.’

The source added: ‘Right now there’s no wedding date set because Isla hasn’t fully converted yet, and even though she’s working at it part-time, she’s far from being close to completing her studies.’

Isla, who has spent most of this summer filming her upcoming project Confessions Of A Shopaholic, is said to have a tense relationship with Sacha’s mother, Daniella.

The source said: ‘What made relations difficult between Isla and Sacha’s mother is that she really wanted Isla to spend more time with the baby and their family in England instead of being hasty and returning to work so quickly.

‘Now that Isla’s done shooting, she’s in the awkward position of making up for lost time.’

To this end, the Australian-born actress, who found fame in Home And Away in the Nineties, is spending increasing amounts of time with her in-laws in Britain, in an apparent effort to endear herself to them.

Meanwhile the notoriously reclusive Baron Cohen, 36, is patiently playing peacemaker between his wife and mother.

Instead of wedding preparations, he has channelled his energies into work, chalking up long hours on his new reality-based film Bruno, which has nearly completed filming and will be released worldwide next summer.

The source said: ‘Sacha is not as worried about the relationship between his parents and Isla as everyone else is because he’s extremely devoted to her and their child.

‘He also believes that putting too much pressure on Isla is only going to make the wedding happen later rather than sooner.

‘He is happy taking his time to get married the same way he was happy having a long engagement.

‘But in the meantime Isla’s had to endure a lot of awkward moments with Sacha’s mother, who just doesn’t seem to understand her future daughter-in-law’s drive to become a big star.’

For Isla’s part, the actress is said to be looking forward to becoming a Cohen.

The source said: ‘No matter what Sacha’s mother throws at her, Isla isn’t going to be scared away from the relationship or the family.

‘You really get the sense that her devotion to Sacha is total, even if she’s stalled a little bit on her Jewish studies. She loves sharing her life with this guy.’

[From Huffington Post]

That mother sounds like a nightmare. And if Sacha were smart he’d put her in her place and make it clear that HE’S the one getting married to Isla, not the rest of the family. It’s setting a dangerous precedent to let the parents dictate the terms of the marriage, because then it never stops. Best of luck to Isla, and I hope the couple can work this out.

Ryan Reynolds makes all other men on the planet seem unromantic

Ryan Reynolds might be known for, actually I have no idea what he is known for. Except dating Alanis Morissette, and now Scarlett Johansson, and being really cute. Really cute. He’s also out promoting a new romantic comedy, and is keen to share his romantic credentials.

Ryan said: “It was a few years ago, but I once flew all the way to London to have lunch with this girl I was dating.

“She lived in the UK and I was in the US obviously. We had just started dating and didn’t really get to see as much of each other as we would have like to because of the distance and work. So I just jumped on a plane to be with her.”

Despite his splashing out on the grand romantic gesture, Ryan refused to pick up the tab for lunch.

He added to Britain’s Heart radio station: “I had to leave the very same day so it was pretty romantic but expensive. I made her buy the sandwich though!”

Sydney Morning Herald

Aw, this is just like in the movies. Which makes me suspect that it might actually just be a clever ploy to get us thinking all lovely and romantic and in the mood to see his latest flick Definitely Maybe. Is this cynical of me? Should we just accept that Ryan Reynolds is an incurable romantic, good, kind and strong, and this is just the kind of thing he’d do? Or should we declare it a shrewd marketing ploy, like how Hollywood is forever creating fictional relationships that ours in reality can’t match?

Ryan indirectly explained how he became such a sensitive guy. He was the youngest of four brothers and empathized with his mother’s plight at dealing with a house full of testosterone:

It didn’t help that Reynolds grew up as the youngest in a family where his father and two of his three brothers are very tall policemen. Maybe they could help out if he ever gets into trouble?

“I doubt that. If I ever get into trouble I’m f—ed. Those guys will see to it. I think their dream is to arrest me. They’re my brothers – it’s their job to some degree to make my life hell. I would never give them that satisfaction.”

How did he live with all that testosterone and turn out to be such a sensitive guy? “I have no idea. I think it was having empathy for my mother, who was dealing with these five horrific ogres in our house all the time. Having that empathy for her has fostered a sensitivity in me.”

Sydney Morning Herald

Under that romantic exterior he’s got some testosterone in his system, and he probably picked up some of his brother’s naughty tricks. And like every good tough guy, he won’t stand a word against his mother.

Ryan must be doing something right. He’s going home at night to Scarlett Johansson.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Here are stills from Definitely, Maybe thanks to Allmoviephoto. Ryan’s costars Elizabeth Banks, Rachel Weisz, Isla Fisher and Abigail Breslin are also shown. Definitely Maybe is out in US theaters on February 14. Here’s the trailer, it looks cute:

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher with one month-old baby Olive

The details were initially hazy about the birth of Sacha Baron Cohen and his fiance Isla Fisher’s first baby last month. Reports in Fisher’s native Australia declared correctly that the pair had a girl, but the exact date and place of the birth was unknown. Later rumors had their baby a boy, with the name incorrectly given as “Sandler James.”

It turns out that the Borat comedian and his fiance did have a girl last month, and that her name is Olive. Instead of opting for a high-paid magazine reveal, the hilarious impersonator and his lovely girlfriend decided to let the paparazzi take pictures yesterday as they stood outside a hotel. They looked happy and relaxed, smiling and showing the baby. Their good friends Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber also decided to debut their newborn by letting photographers have unpaid access to pictures. Naomi showed off little Alexander Pete Schreiber to paparazzi when he was two weeks old.

Isla looks incredible, and their baby is so cute! Babies are so adorable at that age. I remember an elderly woman coming up to my husband and me when our son was a month old and telling us how fast it all went. Now that he’s three I realize how right she was.

Baron Cohen will next appear in the film Bruno, in which he dupes people with his alter ego, a flaming Austrian talk show host. Fisher says she intends to be a stay-at-home mom.

Thanks to Splash News for these pictures and The Daily Mail for the heads up.
