Lead singer of Jamiroquai beats up paparrazi that weren’t for him

Jay Kay, the bendy lead singer of Jamiroquai, put the smack down on a bunch of photographers waiting outside a London club. In a a drunken stupor he thought they were there for him, but it turns out they were waiting for Lindsay Lohan, oops!

Jay Kay, frontman for the once-popular band Jamiroquai, became enraged when he thought a throng of photographers waiting outside of a nightclub were there for him. Apparently Jay Kay thought it was 1996. As it turns out the paparazzi were there hoping to spot Lindsay Lohan.

Kay was arrested and let off with a warning. Details of the one-sided fight were released by the paparrazi, who can call themselves victims for once:

Jay Kay, the lead singer of hit music act Jamiroquai, has been released by police and let off with a caution after being detained in a cell for alleged assault.

The 36-year-old pop star was arrested in the early hours of this morning following a brawl outside the Kabaret’s Prophecy nightclub in Soho.

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed: ‘At 12:30 BST today a man, aged in his thirties, was given a caution for common assault and released with no further action to be taken.’

Kay is reported to have slapped one photographer outside the club before punching another three times in the head.

Alessandro Copetti, who works for the Matrix picture agency and witnessed the incident, described Kay’s actions as ‘vicious’.

‘Kay came out of the club, quite visibly drunk and just suddenly launched a vicious attack on us,’ he said.

‘He kept calling us ‘gay boys from the south’ and said he could take all of us on.’

TMZ has a video of the incident, but I could not get it to play.

Jamiroquai is due to put out their first release since the highly danceable “A Funk Odyssey” came out four years ago. “Dynamite,” perhaps a reference to Jay Kay’s explosive personality, (that sucked, I know) is due for release on September 20th.
