Are Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth separated?

wenn2840487
I was just telling my mom that Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth have been married for over ten years. She’s a big Nurse Jackie fan and was recommending him for Hot Guy Friday. He’s not really my cup of tea, particularly as that strange-looking doctor vampire on Twilight. (Why did they have to dye his hair blonde? He just looks freaky that way.) I get Peter’s appeal though, and there are surely plenty of other women who would jump at the chance. If Perez Hilton is to be believed, Facinelli (and Garth) admirers may have their opportunity now that the couple is separated. They’re supposedly living apart. They were married in January, 2001 and have three daughters together: Luca, 14, Lola, 8, and Fiona, who turns five in September. Here’s the story from Perez:

Sources close to the couple reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that Twilight star Peter Facinelli and 90210 alum Jennie Garth are currently on a “break”.
The pair, who have been married since 2001, are currently living apart, insiders tell us.

“Jennie is living in the family home in Toluca Lake and Peter has been renting a home in Santa Ynez,” according to our source. “It’s not looking good!”
Insiders insist that no third party is involved, but divorce is looking like the final outcome.

[From Perez Hilton]

That’s sad for their family. I’ve heard too many stories lately about couples not being able to work it out.

Back in November, 2008, Jennie said that divorce was not an option and seemed to hint that she was having problems in the marriage:
In this industry, there’s always going to be someone more beautiful out there. It’s easy to be tempted. I’m not interested in taking the easy way out. Divorce is not an option for us. I want to be with my family.”

Jennie also said back then that she wanted more kids, but implied that Peter wasn’t on board. She joked “Will you talk to my husband for me please? I want to have a baby or adopt. My body keeps telling me to have babies.”

So it sounds like these two have been having problems for a while, and are disagreeing about whether they should have more kids. I hope that this report is wrong though. They seemed so solid. These photos are from May and June of 2010. A lot can change in a year.

Jennie Garth hints at problems in her marriage

Jennie Garth seems to be having some problems in her marriage. It could be nothing, but in a recent interview with OK! Magazine she talks about “making her marriage work” and how “divorce is not an option” and there’s always other, more attractive people in Hollywood. Somehow she tries to frame it in a positive light, but really it comes off more as an alarm bell than anything else.

Keeping her family together is the number one priority for 90210 star Jennie Garth. The actress, 36, who has been married to Twilight hottie Peter Facinelli for seven years, tells OK! that when it comes to making her marriage work, it’s about the little things.

“Today I went to Coffee Bean and got him a drink — just keeping your partner in mind,” Garth says. “In this industry, there’s always going to be someone more beautiful out there. It’s easy to be tempted. I’m not interested in taking the easy way out. Divorce is not an option for us. I want to be with my family.”

Speaking of family, Jennie and Peter have three adorable daughters, Luca Bella, 11, Lola Ray, 5, and Fiona Eve, 2. Three kids is a lot by anyone’s standards let alone two working Hollywood parents. But Jennie says she’d love more kids.

“Will you talk to my husband for me please?” she jokes. “I want to have a baby or adopt. My body keeps telling me to have babies.”

[From OK! Magazine]

I’m assuming Jennie means that divorce is not an option in THIS marriage, not that divorce isn’t an option for her – because she’s been divorced before. There’s also some speculation that she cheated on her first husband with her current husband. It’s hard to tell because the ending of her first marriage and beginning of her relationship with Facinelli both occurred in 1995, and she got pregnant with their first child in September of 1996, before her divorce from first husband Daniel Clark was finalized.

The whole, “It’s easy to be tempted” line is sort of asking for trouble. Why in the world would you say that to OK Magazine? And why tell them how you’re NOT getting divorced – unless you’re trying to head off rumors? Hopefully Jennie and Peter are fine and it was just poor phrasing or something on her part.

Shannen Doherty booted from 90210 for bad behavior – again

Shannen Doherty claimed that she had another project in the works and that’s why she couldn’t stay on CW’s 90210 remake beyond her initial four episode commitment. The truth is that she wasn’t wanted back after she showed major attitude and tried to rewrite her lines, reports the Enquirer. In the end, producers decided she was more trouble than she was worth and she got canned:

Fourteen years after she was fired from “Beverly Hills, 90210″ for bad behavior, the show’s given Shannen Doherty the boot again!

The producers of the new “90210″ originally wanted Shannen, 37, to appear for the entire season, but the Enquirer learned she was so difficult on the set that producers gave her the heave-ho as soon as they could…

“She argued with people, hated some of the scripts, and wanted things done her way. She pranced around the set like she owned it and often ordered changes in her dialogue, which cost time and money.

“After the first taping, the brass decided she just wasn’t worth the hassle.”

Many of the cast and crew did not like working with her, according to the insider, and as The Enquirer reported recently, “90210′s” rising young star Shenae Grimes clashed with her immediately.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, September 28, 2008]

It seemed like Doherty has changed since her first stint on 90210, but if this report is true she’s just about the same.

Mild 90210 spoiler for a past episode follows
This week it was revealed on the show that Dylan McKay from the first series – played by Luke Perry- was the father of single mom Kelly Taylor’s four year old son. Jennie Garth, who plays guidance counselor Kelly, is one of the staples from the initial show and has signed on for additional episodes.

There was speculation that Perry and old costar Jason Priestley, who played Brandon Walsh, might revise their roles too. Luke Perry has ruled out an appearance however, and Priestley has also declined, according to sources quoted by E! Online. Perry has an upcoming guest role on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and has starring roles in two smaller films out later this year. Priestley has been doing television work and also has a smaller film coming out. They’re both probably hoping to distance themselves from the roles which made them famous in the 90s.

Shannen Doherty won’t do more episodes of new 90210

Photobucket Image Hosting
Shannen Doherty won’t film more episodes of the new CW 90210 remake beyond the four she initially signed up for. She says it’s because she’s too busy working on other projects, and of course they wanted her back. Jennie Garth will do at least five more episodes than the six in her contract, though.

Just like Brandon, Dylan, Steve, Colin, and Matt before them, 90210′s producers just can’t get enough of Kelly. So, my sources tell me, they’ve signed Jennie Garth to appear in five episodes on top of the six to which she originally agreed.

So now we’re gonna get the Kelly-Brenda rematch we’ve all been waiting for, right?

Erm, no. Though Shannen Doherty may return later in the season, for now it appears that the first four episodes she signed on for will also be her last (the second of those episodes airs next week). “They asked me to do a lot more,” she says, but “I’m in the middle of pitching a show, [so] I couldn’t commit to more than [I did].”

[EW via TMZ]

EW’s Michael Ausiello goes on to recommend that Tori Spelling get some respect and the salary she deserves to be brought back on the show. Rumor had it that Tori was offered just $10-20k per episode but Jennie and Shannen were receiving something like $35-50k an episode. When Tori found out that her pay was significantly lower, she dropped out of the remake. It is thought that she might return around November in time for sweeps. The show is doing well in the ratings, but isn’t fairing as well with critics.

Shannen Doherty told EW Magazine in a joint interview with Jennie Garth a couple of weeks ago that she did not have the fistfight with Jennie that was detailed in Tori Spelling’s now number one book on the nonfiction list, sTori Telling. Doherty dismissed Spelling’s book by saying “I just don’t believe you write personal on-set experiences in a book… In 27 years of acting I’ve never sold out one of my cast members.” Maybe it’s a good thing there’s little chance these two will be working together again.

Jennie Garth & Shannen Doherty: there was no fistfight & Tori exaggerated

Entertainment Weekly has a new cover story and interview with former feuding 90210 costars Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty, who are back on the new version of the series on The CW as their original characters as adults. Both Garth and Doherty say they had no problems working together despite their conflicts in the past and that they’ve grown up considerably. As for their on-set fights, they say that there wasn’t the fistfight that Tori Spelling detailed in her book sTori Telling, and Doherty adds that that Tori sold her out by portraying her so negatively in that book and that she would never do that to a coworker:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: In Tori Spelling’s book sTORI Telling, she tells some pretty harsh stories about you, Shannen. Did you read the book?
DOHERTY: I will censor myself out of respect for Jennie because she’s friends with Tori. I got passages sent to me and a vast majority of it is incredibly exaggerated. Maybe it’s a difference of how I was raised. I just don’t believe you write personal on-set experiences in a book. For me, when you work it’s almost a sacred experience whether you get along with everyone or not. In 27 years of acting I’ve never sold out one of my cast members. Ever. And I will stick to that.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: In the book it says you two got into a fistfight. That sounds very badass. But is it true?
JENNIE GARTH: A fistfight? That makes us sound so tough.
SHANNEN DOHERTY: I know. Like we were serious gangsters.
GARTH: I didn’t read the book either.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You’re thanked in it.
GARTH: For what? I wonder what I did. I asked Tori if I needed to read it and she said no, I shouldn’t bother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, but back to the fistfight: fact or fiction?
GARTH: I don’t think we ever hit each other.
DOHERTY: We had our moments.
GARTH: I just remember being outside and the boys having to try to settle us down.
DOHERTY: No, we never punched each other.
GARTH: Scratching? I’m not going to deny that.

[From EW.com]

The two say they’re pretty surprised at the racy direction the show is going in, and that it’s a departure from what they’re used to with the show. Both of them had input into their characters, though, and are pleased that they’ve matured and are in successful careers. One plot point they vetoed would have involved a love triangle between their characters fighting for a guy. Garth and Doherty say they’ve already done that and don’t think their characters would be in that place now:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: There is a rumor that in this new 90210, Kelly and Brenda will be fighting over the slightly Dylan-esque bad-boy English teacher, Ryan Matthews. Are we really going to see Kelly and Brenda fight over another guy?
DOHERTY: I would not do that.
GARTH: People want that. They want that love triangle because that’s what they’re comfortable with with us. But it’s not happening.
DOHERTY: That was one of the things I was adamant about: Brenda Walsh would not fight for a guy anymore. There are bigger, more important things in her life. Besides, I encourage [Kelly] to date Ryan. I offer to babysit.
GARTH: All those people who wrote the ”I Hate Brenda” newsletter are going to get mad at me now, like ”Why are you leaving your child with Brenda?”
DOHERTY: Hopefully those people have grown up.
GARTH: I doubt it.

[From EW.com]

Doherty came off as mature but tough in this interview. She’s gone through a lot in her personal life, and says she didn’t really like her character Brenda Walsh and the way she behaved on the old 90210. Doherty acknowledges how much she owes her fans and says that she’s willing to play Brenda again and it’s a kind of thank you to her fans for her past success. “At some point it hit me that this is what the fans wanted. They put a roof over my head. They allow me to eat and to feed my dogs. The only reason I survive is because of them. If there’s one way to possibly say thank you, it is to go back and play a character that you never even liked yourself.”

Doherty likely needs the work too, and I wouldn’t guess that she has a lot of offers coming in. She did Charmed, Scare Tactics, North Shore, and Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty, but nothing really lasted for her.

The new 90210 will premiere on The CW network on September 2.

Jennie Garth says working with Shannen Doherty not the worst thing ever

I find the idea of Shannon Doherty utterly terrifying. I mean just looking at her face makes me feel a little ill. Considerably more so when she smiles. The woman was never much of a looker, and being a legendary bitch didn’t exactly help her cause much. Doherty was fired from the first version of 90210 after her diva behavior became intolerable – she was consistently late to work, hung over, etc. Basically she was the Lindsay Lohan of her day.

She and Jennie Garth supposedly butted heads more than any other cast mates, which once resulted in a fistfight. So the idea of the two pairing up again had Garth understandably nervous. And while she didn’t exactly sing Shannon’s praises, she did say that it wasn’t as terrible as it could have been. It wasn’t as bad as war, death, or terminal illness. So when compared to those things, it was alright.

Jennie Garth admits she was initially uneasy about working with Shannen Doherty again… But when she reunited with Doherty to shoot CW’s 90210 spin-off, she tells TV Guide, “It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

“I’m not much of a small talker, and I don’t think she is either. I was a little nervous because I hadn’t seen or talked to her in 14 years,” she goes on. “Everyone was making it out to be such a big deal that I think we both fell prey to having that affect us.” With their squabbles behind them, Garth says, “I think it will be OK. We’re both grown women, both professionals. Once we were working, it felt like a good fit.”

Co-star Ryan Eggold, who plays Kelly’s new beau on the series, admits “everybody was on pins and needles and sort of waiting to see how they’d react. They started off kind of tentative, but by the time we were five takes in, they were giggling and seemed to be reconnecting,” he says.

Garth says she wishes she could reconnect with Tori Spelling, who recently quit the show over salary disputes. Fighting back tears, Garth tells TV Guide, “I know Shannen probably doesn’t share the feelings that I have for Tori, but I love Tori like my sister.” She says she is encouraging fans to launch a “Bring Back Donna Martin” campaign.

[From Us Weekly]

Tears? Really? Okay to be fair it’s not all that cheesy – I often find myself tearing up at the mention of Tori Spelling. Although that’s mostly because I’ve seen some recent pictures of Tori over-sharing her boobs and I have nightmares about what years of silicone implants combined with pregnancy can do to an otherwise lovely body part.

In other 90210 news, rumors are that the new show sucks. This is based wholly on the news that the CW network won’t be sending out any screeners of the show, thus leading everyone to believe it must be because it absolutely blows. Though there’s an equal likelihood it’s just because they don’t want the show all over the internet before it even airs. Because it’ll probably suck.

Tori Spelling pulls out of 90210 remake amid rumors of unequal pay

I am probably the one person on the planet who is dreading the return of that awful teen soap “Beverly Hills 90210.” That show was a flaming pile of garbage the first time around. Don’t believe me? Watch one of the re-runs on Soapnet – I dare you to sit through an entire episode without feeling like you’ve permanently lost I.Q. points. It looks like the remake, or spin-off, has hit a snag. Tori Spelling, daughter of the original show’s producer, was supposed to reprise her dry-heave-inducing role as the troll-faced virgin, Donna Martin, alongside Shannen Doherty (quite possibly the worst actress in the world) as Brenda and Jennie Garth as Kelly. But when Tori found out her co-stars would be getting more money, she backed out, citing “timing reasons” as her excuse.

Insiders tell me that Tori was hired to reprise her role as fashion boutique owner Donna Martin for just “$10,000-$20,000″ per episode.

But then Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty were signed for “$35,000-$50,000″ a show. When Tori found out her former co-stars were getting paid way more than she was, she got pissed and demanded equal pay. But the network suits have refused. So now my sources tell me that Tori has pulled out of the series, which premieres with a 2-hour special on September 2nd. “She thought she deserved parity, and she’s got a point,” an insider explained to me.

That’s because, for some bizarre reason, Tori is a reality show ratings hit by Oxygen’s low standards. (Last Tuesday’s Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood was the most watched telecast in the history of that execrable women’s cable channel as 1.4 million viewers saw the episode where Tori gave birth to her 2nd child — which actually took place 5 months ago.) And Spelling wrote a bestselling book besides. Showing once again that it doesn’t pay to underestimate the terrible taste of the American public…

As for Tori, she has told the media only that the timing didn’t work out for her to appear in the 90210 pilot because she was giving birth. “So we’ll see what happens later in the season,” she said last week on CBS’ The Early Show. One insider tells me it wouldn’t be surprising if Tori and the show eventually agree to bring her onto 90210 as a November sweeps stunt. Hmm.

[From Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood]

What kind of world are we living in where having Tori Spelling appear on any show would be considered a sweeps stunt? I truly hope that nobody watches this show. But I am sure I’ll be proven wrong and nostalgic Gen-Xers hoping to recapture their 90s glory days of big sideburns, flannel shirts and bodysuits will flock to this crapfest. Not me- I’ll be watching “Mad Men.”

Tori Spelling & Jennie Garth join 90210 spinoff

Either this 90210 spinoff is going to be so legendarily awesome that the original cast members are just aching to get on the show, or the original cast members’ careers are in such abysmal shape that they’ll do anything to get on the spinoff. When Jennie Garth signed on, I thought it could go either way. But yesterday it was confirmed that Tori Spelling is also on board, and I think that makes it pretty clear exactly what kind of show this is going to be: the kind filled with desperate stunt casting.

Looks like Jennie Garth isn’t the only Beverly Hills, 90210 alum returning to her old zip code. Tori Spelling – who played Donna Martin – has been tapped to co-star in the new spin-off version of the ’90s hit teen drama, a source confirms to Usmagazine.com.

“She will be a recurring character,” the source adds. DeadlineHollywoodDaily.com first reported the news. “I am excited about it,” Spelling told Us in April when asked about the new version. “In some way, every show that followed 90210 was a remake of 90210,” she added. “For the fans’ sake, I am really happy for them.”

Spelling’s father Aaron created and produced the original series. Former Full House star Lori Loughlin has also signed on and The CW has also hinted that other original 90210 stars could be reprising their roles.

[From Us Magazine]

Just when I thought Tori Spelling couldn’t be more dumb and useless. Every show that followed 90210 was a remake in some way? So NYPD Blue, Friends, and Antique Roadshow then? I’m going to assume Tori’s as dumb as the characters she plays, and meant to say that every show of the self-indulgent teenage drama variety was a remake of 90210.

Apparently the original storylines are being drawn upon but updated a bit. I really hope they redo that episode where Brandon Walsh defies the school and daringly invites all the back kids from the inner city school to the Fall dance. At first there’s tension, but then they all mix it up to Brian Austin Green’s raps, and everything is A-OK. Oh, and whenever some outsider teases one of the gang for being over-privileged and going to Beverly Hills High, the character needs to reply – really indignantly – “Hey, I go to WEST Beverly.” And then walk away like he just proved his point.

Picture note by Celebitchy: A pregnant Tori Spelling is shown signing copies of “sTori Telling” on 3/14/08. Jennie Garth is shown at the PRISM Awards on 4/24/08. Thanks to PRPhotos.

Tori Spelling gunning for spot on Dancing with the Stars (past episode spoilers)

I live in Europe, so I don’t watch American television yet, (although I’m trying to get JayBird to install one of those Slingbox devices so I can.) Right now I’m on “vacation” in the states, though, and my mother loves Dancing with the Stars and we watched a couple of episodes, fast forwarding through the results episode because they just drag that shit out as long as possible.

The show is quite entertaining, and it’s easy to see how people get hooked. When excellent dancer and Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan was eliminated in an upset last week, I suspected that she was involved with her partner, because of the way he was clinging to her and she called him “baby” all romantic-like. Sabrina and her partner, Mark Ballas, are indeed dating, with Sabrina confirming their romance to TVGuide, saying that “I always call him ‘Baby Marky.’ I absolutely love and adore him.” She also said they were going out on a date the next day. Sabrina and Mark were spotted out at Hollywood hotspot Hyde, and TMZ has video of a photographer asking them when they’re getting married, with Sabrina answering “August of 08.”

With all the attention and fame that comes with competing on the dance show, many c and d-listers are vying for a place. Tori Spelling is said to be anxious to appear next season, and to follow her 90210 cast mates, Jennie Garth and Ian Ziering’s, lead. The thing is, she’s also gunning for her husband, Dean McDermott, to be on the show, and since he’s only known as Mr. Tori Spelling, producers don’t want to take him on:

[Tori Spelling] is campaigning to be on next season’s Dancing with the Stars after seeing how it helped Beverly Hills 90210 pals Jennie Garth and Ian Ziering. “She is hoping it will open doors,” says an insider. “At the very least, she can earn some money from touring with the dancers after the show. She’s the breadwinner in her family and needs to keep her career alive.” There’s just one hitch – Tori has hinted that she wants her husband, Dean McDermott, on the show. The show’s producers “don’t want Dean at all,” adds the source.

[From Star Magazine, print edition, November 12, 2007]

I can see Tori appearing on the show, but she seems so gawky to me that you wouldn’t expect her to get the hang of it. Maybe it’s just her um, features, that give you that impression and she could be a surprisingly good dancer.

Jane Seymour and her partner were eliminated from last night’s Dancing with The Stars, with Jennie Garth also in the bottom two. Four couples remain on the show, Melanie B and Makshim, Helio Castroneves and Julianne, Jennie Garth and Derek, Marie Osmond and Jonathan, and Cameron Mathison and Edyta. Marie Osmond was absent from last night’s results show due to the death of her father. Jane Seymour also missed a results show in week two due to her mother’s death that day.

Nearly 50 million people watched the premiere of Dancing With The Stars this season, so you can see how the show appeals to minor celebrities like Tori.

Tori and Dean are shown on 9/28/07 in Vegas before Tori’s appearance with The Pussycat Dolls.
