Jennifer Connelly & Paul Bettany show off adorable baby Agnes in France

Here are some new photos of Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany arriving in Nice, France, probably for the Cannes Film Festival. Yes, that’s their youngest child, daughter Agnes, in Jennifer’s arms. How cute is 11-month-old baby Agnes? I love that the baby got Paul’s coloring. Not that Jennifer has bad coloring at all – I love her dark hair and light eyes. But I just think it’s cute that both of Paul and Jennifer’s kids – Agnes and Stellan look more like him. They make beautiful babies. *sigh*

Over the past week, I’ve been seeing stories about Jennifer, but I never really stopped to see what she’s promoting. It’s a movie called Virginia, and I think it’s probably going to screen at the Cannes Film Festival. The film screened in NYC a few days ago too, and Page Six spoke to Paul about his wife’s role – as a blonde! Paul said, “I thought it was remarkable… Somehow I thought it really suited her. I’ve never seen her as a blonde.” But when Paul was asked if he would like Jennifer to keep the look, he just said: “I married a brunette.” Aw… he loves her dark hair. Sexy.

Jennifer was also on Anderson Cooper’s daytime show recently, and she spoke about her family:

Age may just be a number, but for Jennifer Connelly it’s been the secret to her family’s success.

“I’ve got a massive family now. It’s really unbelievable. They are all such extraordinary kids and they’re great together,” the actress, 41, tells Anderson in an interview airing Tuesday.

“They never fight, they look after each other. They are loving.”

Connelly, who is mom to sons Kai, 14, and Stellan, 8, and daughter Agnes Lark, 11 months, attributes the brood’s bliss to her and husband Paul Bettany‘s ability to spread the love.

“I am just blessed they are such great, really wonderful kids,” she raves. “Maybe it has something to do with the huge age gap between them, there is no competition and they all have so much attention and focus.”

However, despite the synchronization among the siblings, Connelly admits she won’t be expanding their family any further.

“I think we should call it quits,” she says. “It’s like trying to move an army getting out of the house and we go everywhere together, so it’s a lot of bodies to move.”

[From People]

I’ve heard Jennifer talk about motherhood and her family before, and it really seems like she and Paul are really… what’s the word? Like, they’re organized and focused on their family, and you can tell that their marriage and their children are always their first priorities. Paul has backed out of several films and projects over the past few years because he wanted to spend more time with his family, and Jennifer is really into the whole “Earth mother” thing. I really do love this family.

Jennifer Connelly’s first appearance since giving birth: beautiful?

wenn3524823

These are new photos of Jennifer Connelly looking gorgeous at a NYC event for Save the Children. It’s Jennifer’s first red carpet appearance since giving birth to daughter Agnes, fathered by Jennifer’s hot husband, Paul Bettany. Paul was not with Jennifer last night, unfortunately! I know, I would like to see some new photos of Paul too – I put the latest candid shots of Paul and Jennifer’s two sons, Kai and Stellan, at the bottom of the post.

Anyway, Jennifer and how beautiful she is. I love the way she looks right now – she still has some post-baby weight, her face is filled out slightly and she just looks so healthy and gorgeous. At the event, Jennifer talked about her home birth and her midwife:

Beautiful mind AND body! Stepping out at Tuesday’s “Every Woman, Every Child” for Save the Children benefit at NYC’s Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jennifer Connelly walked her first red carpet since giving birth to daughter Agnes Lark Bettany May 31.

The stunning Oscar-winning actress, 40, wasn’t shy to reveal a bit of her post-baby weight loss in a black sheer top (with a black bra underneath) tucked into flattering, pleated black pants.

Connelly told Us Weekly she felt compelled to step out for the benefit, which supports a cause near and dear to her heart. “I gave birth to my daughter Agnes three and a half months ago, like many women, I gave birth to her at home,” the Dilemma star told Us.

(Agnes was born via schedule home water birth at the NYC apartment she shares with husband Paul Bettany.)

“But unlike many women around the world, my birth was attended by a skilled midwife,” she continued. “I’m very excited to be here to support Save the Children and to support mothers around the world that don’t have access to health care.”

Agnes joins big brothers Kai, 13 (his dad is Connelly’s photographer ex David Dugan) and 7-year-old Stellan, Connelly’s son with The Tourist star Bettany, 40, whom Connelly wed in 2003.

[From Us Weekly]

Lovely. Great cause, Jennifer speaks with intelligence, and I basically have no problems with anything she or Paul ever want to say or do. I love them so much.

Jennifer Connelly & Paul Bettany welcome baby girl Agnes Lark

wenn5581305

Aw, Jennifer Connelly had her baby! She and her ginger Godsend of a husband, Paul Bettany, welcomed baby girl Agnes Lark on May 31. Damn! They kept that quiet. Apparently, it was a home birth. Baby Agnes joins two big brothers – 7-year-old Stellan and 13-year-old Kai (who is Connelly’s son from a previous relationship). What are your thoughts on “Agnes Lark”? I like the “Lark” part. I think that’s adorable. As for “Agnes”… well, I hope it’s a family name. It sounds like a grandmother name.

It’s a hat trick for Jennifer Connelly: the Oscar-winning actress, 40, is now a mom of three! The Dilemma star and husband Paul Bettany welcomed a baby girl, Agnes Lark Bettany, at their home in New York City on May 31, her rep tells Us Weekly exclusively. Little Agnes was born via scheduled home water birth in a birthing pool, the rep explained.

“Everyone is healthy and doing well,” Connelly’s rep tells Us. “The family is very excited.”

Agnes joins big brothers Kai, 13 (his dad is Connelly’s photographer ex David Dugan) and 7-year-old Stellan, Connelly’s son with The Tourist star Bettany, 40.

Us first broke the news first back in December that the actress was expecting again.
In January, Connelly opened up on the Late Show with David Letterman about extreme nausea — and cravings! — during her third pregnancy.

“The first three months were very sketchy,” Connelly admitted. “You know how like you have your cell phone and you have to stand in one spot? It was like that with nausea. I had to stand in one spot, which happened to be in front of my refrigerator, which was open with me dipping pretzels in cream cheese and stuffing them in my mouth.”

After meeting on the set of 2001′s A Beautiful Mind, Connelly and British actor Bettany, 40, wed in a small, intimate ceremony in Scotland in 2003.

[From Us Weekly]

Congratulations to Paul and Jennifer! Both of her sons seem to have gotten her coloring, so it’s probably too much to hope that little Agnes is a strawberry-blonde/ginger, like her daddy. It would have been awesome, though. Can’t you just see Paul with a ginger baby girl? That thought just made my ovaries weep.

Jennifer Connelly & Winona Ryder at ‘The Dilemma’ premiere: cute or meh?

wenn3157711

I have no idea why the photos from the premiere of The Dilemma are so completely crappy. My only guess is that the film is extremely bad, to the point where no one even wants to promote it, and none of the half-decent photographers were called for the red carpet. Anyway, here’s the best shot we have of Jennifer Connelly (who plays Vince Vaughn’s wife in the film) and her growing baby bump. I don’t know who did the dress – the color looks nice on her, although I’m not a fan of whatever is going on in the shoulders. It makes her look hunched. However, Jennifer looks so lovely with some extra weight, doesn’t she? Her face fills out and she just glows. Surprisingly, though, her hot husband Paul Bettany wasn’t around. Boo!

By the way, you want to see how crappy this movie is going to be? Here’s the version of the trailer after they took out all of the “that’s so GAY” stuff.

Ugh. More photos – here we have the mess of Winona Ryder. The dress is fine – spaghetti-strapped cocktail in black, pretty standard-issue, but the hair and the CRAZY EYES kind of ruin the look.

the_dilemma_39_wenn3157710

Vince Vaughn… well, at least he’s not wearing a rug, right?

the_dilemma_43_wenn3157714

I had forgotten that Kevin James and his wife were expecting. His wife is gorge.

the_dilemma_10_wenn3157678

And Channing Tatum, who plays “the other man” in the film, the one who is boning Winona. I have some affection for Channing, because I think he’s just a sweet ol’ Southern boy at heart… so I’m not judging him for being in this movie. Plus, he looks like the best part of this crapfest.

the_dilemma_21_wenn3157690

Ron Howard, you should be ashamed of yourself for making this movie.

Jennifer Connelly is knocked up again with hot, corpsey Bettany spawn

wenn3131657

When I was covering the NYC premiere of The Tourist last week, I noted that Paul Bettany’s wife Jennifer Connelly was looking especially pretty and healthy – she appeared to have put on some much-needed weight, and she just seemed to be glowing and lovely. Now we know why – she’s knocked up! Jennifer and Paul just announced that they are expecting their second child together – Jennifer gave birth to their son Stellan back in 2003. Jennifer also has an older son, Kai, from a relationship in her youth. Here’s the kicker: Jennifer is 40 years old! And Paul is 39 years old. Does anyone else get hot for two attractive people – who are the same age – in a loving relationship that includes babies every seven years or so? Forget the recent rash of breakups – I will be heartbroken if Jennifer and Paul ever split.

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany are expanding their family. The actress, 40, is pregnant with her third child, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Connelly and The Tourist star Bettany, 39, are already parents to son Stellan, 7, as well as Kai, 13, from her previous relationship with David Dugan.

“Becoming a mother has made all the difference in terms of learning to take more responsibility for myself and my life,” she has said.

“Parenthood changed the way I do everything. The biggest thing for me is wanting my kids to grow up safely and have happy lives. To me, that’s enough.”

The couple, who met filming A Beautiful Mind, wed in Scotland in 2003.

[From People]

Jennifer is such a lucky bitch. Of course, Paul is too, you know. He’s a corpsey, goony (hot) Englishman who hides his ginger and he scored a gorgeous American bird. For her part, Jennifer is a lucky bitch because Paul so obviously adores her and treats her like a princess. Sigh… I love this story.

Jennifer Connelly: motherhood changed my career for the better

wenn5233945
It’s sort of startling to read about an actress who is so utterly well-adjusted and down-to-earth as Jennifer Connelly. I would say that she’s boring, but even when she’s downplaying her great marriage, motherhood and life, she’s still really interesting.

Connelly sat down for an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald to promote He’s Just Not That Into You. In the film, Connelly plays a married woman absorbed with her career and her own idea of the perfect life – so wrapped up that she doesn’t notice that her husband (played by Bradley Cooper) is falling for Scarlett Johansson’s character. This is just my opinion, but I’ve always that Connelly is immensely talented, and this film is totally beneath her.

Connelly talks about how much her first son, Kai, changed her life. She also talks about her husband, British actor Paul Bettany a little, but I want more! She and Paul have another son together, a five-year-old named Stellan. Paul and Jennifer will be working with each other again on the Charles Darwin biopic, Creation. Jennifer will be playing Darwin’s wife. Sydney Morning Herald has more:

Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly has made a successful habit of playing generally unhappy or tormented women in movies. From her junkie role in Requiem For A Dream and her Oscar-winning performance as the struggling wife of John Nash (Russell Crowe) in A Beautiful Mind to her subsequent turn as a thrill-seeking journalist in Blood Diamond, she has avoided the lightweight roles that defined her early career.

“I was drawn to playing in something that was a little lighter,” Connelly says. “It’s a feel-good movie, it’s a popcorn movie. I like popcorn movies too. You can sit down with your friends when you don’t really want to watch anything heavy and have some fun with it.”

Perhaps it’s no surprise that Connelly plays one of the film’s less extravagant characters, the highly strung Janine, a professional who has taken the plunge and married. Her mistake is that she gets so caught up in creating a perfect life that she doesn’t notice her lawyer husband (Bradley Cooper) succumbing to Johansson’s charms.

“Although there are great guys in it too, I was really drawn to the idea of working with a bunch of women,” Connelly says. “A lot of my scenes are with Ginnifer, who plays my closest friend, and that was interesting to me because I haven’t really done that in a film. Usually I’m a wife or mother and often I’m with lots of men.”

Displaying a refreshing candour, Connelly, a self-confessed perfectionist, admits the joys of motherhood and her marriage to the outgoing British actor Paul Bettany, whom she met on A Beautiful Mind, have helped her to relax. However, she says it was the birth of her son, Kai (now 11), from her previous relationship with photographer David Dougan, that set her on the road to success.

“I don’t think I would have been able to do the quality work that followed if it hadn’t been for my son,” she says. “He changed me. He helped me to understand myself and find my place in the world.”

Connelly’s return to acting came after she had studied English at Yale and Stanford. She graduated to more adult fare in Mulholland Falls, Inventing The Abbotts, Dark City and Pollock, though admits “it took a while to change people’s perceptions of me”.

Her career blossomed with her appearances in the Oscar-nominated films House Of Sand And Fog and Little Children. She had a starring turn as a desperate mum in the horror film Dark Water and she was Eric Bana’s ex and co-worker in The Hulk.

“I wish there were more strong, dramatic roles. I love working and I don’t often find things that I feel [I] really love. I often make choices because it’s a decent choice.”

Connelly is a low-key kind of movie star. Based in New York, she and Bettany try to manage their movie commitments around their family, which now includes their five-year-old son, Stellan.

“Paul and I started out trying to work at different times but it’s a bit unrealistic with the timing of projects,” Connelly says. “That said, it’s worked out really well. We do a lot of flying around to different places to make sure the family is together. I think the longest we have ever been apart is two weeks … so it’s a lot of aeroplanes. It’s very bad for the environment, I know, but it’s been really good for our family.”

Currently she is again playing a wife, this time in the Charles Darwin biopic, Creation, which chronicles the naturalist’s early years as he struggles to cope with the loss of a child. Still, she’s not complaining as she finally reunites with Bettany on screen.

“We’d been circling around things, trying to find something to do together for some time,” she says, “and now I feel so lucky to be able to come to work with him every day. It’s really great. Not many people get to be so fortunate.”

From The Sydney Morning Herald

I didn’t know that Jennifer and Paul had their home base in New York – I really thought they lived in London. I’ve seen interview with Paul, and to say that he adores his family is an understatement – that man worships his wife, his son and his step-son. Jennifer Connelly might be one of the luckiest women in the world, but
she will forever underplay it.

“He’s Just Not That Into You” premiere photos

fp_1865463_rij_notthat_into
The stars were out for the premiere of He’s Just Not That Into You in Hollywood last night. Many of the female stars made risky outfit choices, with the exception of Jennifer Aniston, who donned a underwhelming black low-cut tuxedo suit with gold chains.

Drew Barrymore was goofy-looking in a short cocktail gown with a poofy bow on the bodice and her hair in a ponytail.

Scarlett Johansson wore a pink strapless down with giant flowers on it. It looked like a curtain print to me.

Jennifer Connolly showed off her legs in a very short green sequined dress with jeweled gladiator heels that seemed more like a holiday outfit.

Ginnifer Goodwin looked gorgeous in a short orange cocktail dress with a bold necklace and matching strappy heels. I love her hair and makeup.

Jenna Fischer is one of my favorite celebrities, but I’d like to see her get a new stylist. Her navy blue and black dress is too plain.

The guys goofed around on the red carpet, with Bradley Cooper giving Justin Long a hug. Kevin Connolly and Ben Affleck were both dapper in suits and were sporting some facial stubble.

He’s Just Not That Into You is out in the US this Friday, February 6. Here’s the trailer. It looks like a cute, fast-paced movie, and I usually enjoy movies like this with multiple sub plots. We’ll have to see how it does at the box office.

Thanks to Fame Pictures for these photos.

Jennifer Connelly’s weight loss explained

wenn5218957
Jennifer Connelly just lost a whole bunch of weight, which had some sources speculating that she was unwell, losing weight for her scary Balenciaga campaign, or competing with her He’s Just Not That Into You co-star Jennifer Aniston.

Her husband, Paul Bettany, felt compelled to reveal yesterday that the weight loss was because of grief.

Jennifer Connelly is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous actresses in Hollywood. But lately, recent reports have focused on Connelly’s sudden weight loss, which have people wondering if the He’s Just Not That Into You star is okay.

At Monday’s 20th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, Connelly’s husband, British actor Paul Bettany, finally addressed the weight loss rumors.

“I will tell you… My wife just lost her father,” he explained to OK!.

OK! Magazine

Jennifer lost her father Gerard in September.

Paul Bettany obviously felt the need to defend his wife’s weight loss, which is a bit sad in a way. I guess we can sometimes look at Hollywood stars and think they have these wonderful glamorous lives that aren’t touched by the same tragedies as ours. But the sudden loss of Jett Travolta this week, or Jennifer’s father Gerard, kind of shows us that everyone, no matter how wealthy, famous or intelligent, still lives through the same basic human experience we all do.

Jennifer and her husband Paul are working together on the film Creation, about Charles Darwin. She can be seen currently in The Day the Earth Stood Still, and He’s Just Not That Into You.

Jennifer Aniston had co-star Jennifer Connelly booted from magazine cover

There could be an off screen rivalry between Jennifer Aniston, 39, and her co-star Jennifer Connelly, 37, in the upcoming film He’s Just not That Into You. Aniston is said to have demanded that Connelly not appear with her in a cast photo for the cover of Marie Claire. Only Drew Barrymore and Ginnifer Goodwin could be shown with Aniston according to her stipulations, and she was to be the focus of the shoot. It’s unknown why Aniston and Connelly aren’t getting along, but they’re said to have acted cold to each other on set:

Connelly… will not be included in an upcoming cover shoot for Marie Claire magazine that will feature Aniston… and her other co-stars from the October comedy, Drew Barrymore and Ginnifer Goodwin. “Word is, Aniston threatened to pull out if Jennifer was part of the cover,” says an insider familiar with the movie’s shoot. “It was all about getting Jennifer Aniston front and center and looking as sexy as possible.”

So what’s Jen’s beef with [Connelly]? While Aniston’s rep denies that there’s any discord between the actresses, they just didn’t hit it off, says the insider: “There was no camaraderie between those two whatsoever. They didn’t seem like friends in the slightest.”

[From Life & Style, print edition, June 23, 2008]

I wonder what happened between Connelly and Aniston if this is true. Maybe Aniston realizes that Oscar-winning actress Connelly could potentially eclipse her as the film’s star if given a chance. IMDB has the plot containing a “series of interconnecting story arcs” so it’s possible that they get as much screen time.

There’s also a lot of talk about another one of Aniston’s potential rivalries. Her ex husband’s new partner, Angelina Jolie, has her film The Changeling out on October 24, which also when He’s Just Not That Into You first hits theaters. Since one film is a romantic comedy, and the other is a drama there doesn’t seem to be much competition. Aniston’s film is likely to do better just because of the subject matter and format.

Jennifer Connelly is shown at the Costume Institute Gala on 5/5/08, thanks to WENN. Jennifer Aniston is shown on set with Owen Wilson (below) on 5/21/08, thanks to Splash News.

Glamour Women of the Year Awards

The stars were out at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards at Avery Fischer Hall in NY City last night. Jennifer Garner was accompanied by her husband, Ben Affleck, to accept her award as “The Icon Next Door.”

Senator John Edward’s wife, Elizabeth Edwards, was named “The Role Model,” and her award was presented by her children, Cate, Emma Claire and Jack. Elizabeth Edwards is a breast cancer survivor and is currently fighting stage four breast cancer that has spread to a spot on her rib. She is being treated with anti-estrogen drugs.

Young Abigail Breslin was named “The American Girl,” and famed author Toni Morrison was given a lifetime achievement award titled “The Voice of Our Time.”

Garner has an interview with Glamour in which she talks about balancing motherhood with her career and admits that she is a “goody-goody,” but is not immune to an occasional diva moment. She also says that she doesn’t pose on the red carpet with her husband Ben because she tries to avoid the needless speculation that goes along with that:

GLAMOUR: Your press is impeccable. Your fans adore you. Do you have a dark side, or are you a goody-goody?

JENNIFER GARNER: You totally called me out. I am a bit of a goody-goody. Not that there aren’t times when I think, I was kind of an asshole today. I work in a world in which people are really catered to; someone will come up to me and say, “Is it OK if this person’s makeup is done before yours for the premiere?” Right now Ben’s in Africa studying malaria and visiting slums with a lack of potable water and maternity wards where many women have HIV. So would I really put my energy into worrying that I’m second to get my makeup done? When you think about the bigger picture, it’s hard to not have some perspective.

GLAMOUR: Have you managed to find that balance for yourself?

JG: I’m trying to, but it’s hard: I just had a year off where I put every spoonful of food into [Violet’s] mouth. Now I’m working and though I’m usually with her more hours than not, some days I just can’t be. That’s hard for me, and for the first time, my daughter. Luckily my husband is a true partner, and he picks up where I leave off.

GLAMOUR: Is being in Hollywood hard on a relationship?

JG: We’ve worked really hard not to be one of those couples who are constantly in the limelight. In the past we’ve both been the kind of people who go along with things—if you’re supposed to be photographed together, you don’t question it. But how does that help your relationship? So now we refuse to walk the red carpet together: It’s a way of not condoning the attention. Plus, it just feels silly to be in that situation with him: Ben was nominated for a Golden Globe [for 2006’s Hollywoodland]. I remember being photographed next to him and thinking, This is ridiculous. You’re not some actor; you’re my husband.

[From Glamour.com]

Garner also talked about the causes she’s involved with, which include Hurricane Katrina victims and the Children’s Defense Fund.

As for whether nearly two-year-old Violet will have a career in show business, Garner doesn’t rule it out but says that she won’t allow her to get her start in it as a child.

Like Julia Roberts, Garner says she wants to help Britney Spears, and that she “wanted to go backstage and mother her” after her performance at the VMAs.

Garner said she doesn’t wear her Alias costumes for husband Ben at home, because that stuff isn’t that important to him since he doesn’t seem to notice how she looks. She said his lack of attention to her appearance is annoying when she’s dolled up for an event, because she wants to get him to comment on it, but that it usually works in her favor because “most of the time I’m a schlep.”

As for whether she’ll have another child, Garner says she will but that she’s not pregnant or trying yet.

Garner’s hero is her sister, who is “a mom and an accountant for the state of West Virginia.” She says that her sister is “able to juggle a job, kids, volunteer work and church, and she still manages to cook dinner every night without feeling bogged down.” If she’s anything like Jen, she probably does it all with a smile while looking fabulous.

Other women honored at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards include Dr. Victoria Hale, Donna Karan, Lara Logan, Lorena Ochoa, Mariane Pearl, Nancy Pelosi, Shonda Rhimes, and Alice Waters. The non-celebrity woman who was honored was Laura Crandall, a 39 year-old woman who founded the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Program after losing her 15 month-old daughter to unknown causes.

Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures of the event. Attendees that were not yet mentioned and are pictured include Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany, Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes, Eric Dane, Portia Di Rossi, Taye Diggs, Iman, Rashida Jones, Fran Lebowitz, James Pickens, Brooke Shields, Diane Sawyer, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
