Prince Harry allegedly wants to meet ‘his number-one girl’ Jennifer Lawrence

I always thought that both of Princess Diana’s boys would end up with blondes. I’m still kind of surprised that William ended up with a brunette… although every time William and Kate broke up, he rebounded with a fair-haired girl. Something to think about. But Harry… he’ll definitely end up marrying a blonde. I think every official girlfriend he’s ever had has been blonde (or dirty blonde). Harry’s type is a bit more complicated than just “blonde” though. She’s got to have a great body. Big boobs are a plus. She’s got to be somewhat trashy, to varying degrees. She’s got to know how to party. Family money is a big plus.

A few years ago, back before Blake Lively was with Ryan Reynolds – even before she was with Leonardo DiCaprio, I think – I suggested Blake for Harry. THAT is his type. Pretty, blonde, boobs, and kind of trashy. Kind of Uptradey. I still think that type holds, although Cressida Bonas is definitely on the “classier” end of that scale. But if Harry gets tired of Cressida (and chances are pretty good that he will), would Harry ever seriously consider a Hollywood starlet? I think he might – but just for a brief fling, a quick romance. He would never marry an American actress. Not even Blake could have managed that. But what about our new American Sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence?!

Prince Harry is doing everything he can to meet actress Jennifer Lawrence when he travels to NYC this May. Even though he has been dating model Cressida Bonas, he reportedly is excited to meet the Oscar-winning actress.

Ok! Magazine is reporting that Prince Harry, 28, is inviting Jennifer to NYC when he’s in town.

“He has given his flunkies a list of Hollywood hotties he wants to attend,” the source says. “Harry has a thing for all of them, but Jennifer’s his number-one girl right now.”

The source goes on to say: “Harry thinks Jennifer is a girl after his own heart — very chill and out for a good time. Harry is looking for a serious relationship and is ready to settle down. And the way he’s thinking right now he could end up with a Hollywood wife.”

[From Hollywood Life]

OK Mag is like the black pit where half-decent gossip goes to die. I would have loved if this story had come from a UK tabloid, because then I could pretend that it might be true. But since it comes from OK Mag… no. It’s not true. And that’s disappointing, because I would LOVE that photo-op. I would love to see Prince Harry flirt with Jennifer. She’s blonde. She has great boobs and great legs. She likes to smoke weed. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. The problem? I get the feeling that Jennifer isn’t as Uptradey and “angling” as all of the other ladies in Harry’s orbit. Like, Jennifer would flirt with him but she wouldn’t know how to work the palace.

Star: Jennifer Lawrence has everyone worried since she smoked pot in Hawaii

Jennifer Lawrence

Kaiser recently described me as “the resident Jennifer Lawrence-loonie,” and I will agree that this claim is mostly accurate. I definitely do give JLaw a lot more leeway than other young stars, mostly because she’s (by all accounts) a complete professional on set and while performing all work-related and promotional duties. She’s not an eye-rolling brat who whines about the injustices of fame like someone else we know.

Okay, I’ll just come out and say it — JLaw is no Kristen Stewart, which is why I didn’t make a huge deal out of it when Jennifer showed her middle finger to the Oscars press room. It’s not like JLaw does this all the time, but I imagine she was feeling a bit unnerved after falling up a set of stairs in front of several million television viewers as well as her peers. The poor girl had endured a very long awards season that was further plagued by a nasty case of walking pneumonia and (probably) Harvey Weinstein whining at her to wear Marchesa. She really needed to take a load off, and she’s just so damn adorable that it’s hard to get mad at her for one instance of a middle finger. I’m not saying it was a smart move, but it was a one-time thing.

Similarly, I don’t see a big deal about JLaw being photographed smoking pot in her hotel room in Hawaii a few days after the Oscars. She was in the privacy of her own room, and the paps were taking photos of the interior of her suite with long-range lenses. So she wasn’t flashing the joint about in the open or tweeting photos of herself and a cloud of smoke or some other such nonsense. She was simply relaxing in her room during the few days before she had to be on set for Catching Fire. Hell, I’d be worried about her if she wasn’t taking a load off since her schedule is so jam-packed these days, but this week’s issue of Star says that JLaw is in the midst of a Bieber-esque tailspin now, and her family is so worried about her. Here’s the story in case you want to laugh too:

Jennifer Lawrence

As soom as she finished her self-deprecatingly funny acceptance speech at the Oscars, Jennifer Lawrence went from up-and-coming actress to America’s Golden Girl. But just moments later, the talented beauty was downing a shot of booze and flipping off reporters. It’s clearly been a whirlwind for the 22-year-old Academy Award winner for Best Actress, and she’s been celebrating nonstop ever since.

Days after the Oscars, the Silver Linings Playbook star took off for Hawaii to reshoot scenes for the upcoming Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. And on the balcony of heer room at the posh Modern hotel in Honolulu on Feb. 27, now dyed brunette, she was spotted drinking heavily and smoking marijuana. “Jennifer was partying it up with one of her friends, smoking weed and drinking wine and dancing around like crazy,” says a witness. “You could smell the weed wafting out from her room.”

That is also where Jennifer got hot and heavy with a mysterious dark-haired female “friend,” fueling rumors that the Kentucky-born beauty might be gay! “They were holding hands and very touchy-feely. We all noticed it,” says a staffer at the hotel who witnessed the pair later in the night while drinking at the hotel bar The Study. “Jennifer was pretty drunk and loud. She was hardly wearing any makeup, but she still looked really gorgeous. The guys were all trying to hit on them, but it was a no-go.” At about midnight a couple of Jen’s male friends, including her Catching Fire costar Jeffrey Wright, joined the pair. He ordered a round of tequila shots, and “even though Jen had been drinking red wine all night, she had no problem slamming it back,” the source explains.

Afterward, they all went to raunchy Honolulu strip joint Club Femme Nu for last call. “Jennifer was holding hands with the dark-haired girl, and they were whispering in each other’s ear,” says another witness. “But they both looked kind of uncomfortable and bounced after about five minutes.”

While it may all be fun and games for Jennifer right now, her family is worried that her relentless parting and newfound fame may be too much for her. “She’s just a young girl and feels overwhelmed,” says a source close to her family. The last thing her family wants is the fame and fortune to eat her up like it’s done to so many celebrities. Just days after heading to Hawaii she admitted that she’s taken too much on, saying, “Don’t ask me about my schedule, because I’m sinking into a bit of depression …. I just want to sit on my couch and drink and not change my pants for days at a time.”

While Jennifer’s family has been trying to keep a closer eye on her — and even pushing her to talk to a therapist — she has become such a bit star that it’s not going to be easy to slow her down. As the family friend explains, “She’s a tough girl, but the pressures of Hollywood can take their toll on anyone.”

[From Star, print edition, March 18, 2013]

So … the strip club stuff seems like complete nonsense, right? The girl in these photos is rumored to be the girlfriend of one of Jennifer’s brothers, but since there’s a photo of them hugging, it feels like Star is pretty much just making sh-t up about them being all cuddly and “gay” together. I mean, how scandalous.

Look, I don’t doubt for a moment that JLaw must certainly be feeling the pressure of such immense success in just a few year’s time. She works nonstop and tirelessly, but she’s always been nothing but gregarious and kind towards journalists. Will there be an eventual backlash to her overexposure? Eventually, that will probably surface, but Star’s going to have to try much harder than this silly story to make it happen.

Did Jennifer Lawrence ignore Leo DiCaprio’s moves b/c ‘she had eyes for BCoop’?

Leo DiCaprio

The MTV Awards nominations were just announced, and the liplock between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper received a nod in the Best On-Screen Duo and Best Kiss categories for Silver Linings Playbook. Interestingly enough, the Twilight franchise — which has historically swept the Best Kiss category — was completely left out of the awards except for one category (Best Shirtless Performance on behalf of Taylor Lautner). Ouch.

At any rate, I’ve been keeping an eye on the JLaw/BCoop chemistry meter since the SLP trailer, and the media really wants these two together. However, poor Bradley’s been dodging advances from nearly every actress since he had his big mainstream breakthrough in The Hangover, and JLaw is the girl to be pursued since falling down while winning her Oscar. Supposedly, even Harry Styles has a crush on JLaw, and he’s been attempting to flirt with her on Twitter, but I don’t think she’s listening. Now there’s a new story that Leonardo DiCaprio wants to get with JLaw. Is it true? Who knows, but this is awfully entertaining:

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence reportedly ignored advances from Leonardo DiCaprio recently as she “only had eyes” for Bradley Cooper.

Jennifer and Bradley appeared alongside each other in Silver Linings Playbook and their portrayal of a couple who are falling in love has caused speculation romance also blossomed off screen.

Although they have both denied they are dating, their behaviour at the Oscars last month — where Jennifer was named best actress — set tongues wagging again.

“They keep saying they’re like brother and sister, but anyone who meets them can see that their chemistry is off the charts. Leo DiCaprio was clearly hitting on her, but she only had eyes for Bradley,” an insider told Heat magazine.

The pair also attended a pre-Oscars party together, where they appeared just as friendly. They spent so much time with each other at the event other guests presumed they were an item.

“They were deep in conversation and talking about how they wanted to take a break after the awards season. Everyone at the party was talking about their chemistry; they really looked like they were together, but trying their best to hide it,” the source added.

Bradley, 38, has previously insisted that he is too old to date 22-year-old Jennifer. She has also insisted they don’t see each other romantically, claiming their chemistry is so good on screen as they have none in everyday life.

Their behaviour has led many to believe they aren’t being truthful though.

“When they’re at a party together, Brad constantly swoops around the room to check on Jen — it’s like he can’t stay away,” the source mused.

[From Yahoo!]

I don’t know if I could even begin to believe this story because JLaw doesn’t even seem like Leo’s type. He likes vacuous models, not down-to-earth actresses who can form a coherent sentence about something other than the trend of short shorts. Also, I doubt that Leo likes a girl who tells fart jokes or even one who farts at all. I’m pretty sure that Leo does all the farting in his relationships.

In addition, I really don’t see JLaw and Bradley becoming an off-screen couple because she admitted to setting him up with her friends (which would seem strange if she was really interested in him) and BCoop keeps insisting that he’s too old to date her since she’s 22 and he’s 38. If anything, they just really like working together because they’ll be seen together in both Serena and another (as yet untitled) David O. Russell film.

Meanwhile, I’ve been looking for an excuse to post the new Capitol Portraits that are sprinking forth in Lionsgate’s promotion of Catching Fire. Here’s JLaw, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Lenny “Rowrr” Kravitz, and Woody Harrelson in character. I imagine this first portrait shows one of Katniss’ Cinna-designed “wedding” dresses, and it’s pretty spooky looking.

Jennifer Lawrence: Tabloids let me pick what co-star to ‘be with,’ she chose BCoop

Jennifer Lawrence Bradley Cooper

Jennifer Lawrence’s post-Oscar interviews are continuing to filter forth in the media. While probably nothing will top the Jack Nicholson reaction video, there’s still a lot of adorableness to be found out there. For one thing, someone showed Jennifer her Miss Dior ad campaign, which she hadn’t seen ahead of time. Her response was as follows: “Oh, my God, that doesn’t look like me at all. I love Photoshop more than anything in the world. Of course it’s Photoshop, people don’t look like that.” See? I told you she looked plastic in those ads, and Jlaw herself agrees.

Now onto the topic of this story, which is that everyone (including the media) wants to set Bradley Cooper up with someone. Poor Bradley himself seems very aware of this phenomenon and even goes out of his way to not walk next to female journalists who are interviewing him for fear that they’ll end up together on a tabloid cover. Of course, when Bradley and Jennifer first appeared in the trailer for Silver Linings Playbook, I predicted that it wouldn’t be long before they were linked in the gossip pages, and Bradley himself later found himself denying a romance because he “could literally be her father.” Never mind that “literally” actually means that Bradley would have had to have slept with JLaw’s mother to make that claim, but we know what he meant.

Jennifer also makes an interesting claim in an interview with Us Weekly about how her publicist warned her that a tabloid was about to publish a story about her getting involved with a co-star, and she got to choose whether she was “set up” with Bradley or Sam Claflin. She chose Bradley, of course! Because serial killer eyes make for better pretend romances, but JLaw’s really trying to set him up with her friends. Here’s the details:

Bradley Cooper Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper have undeniable onscreen chemistry, but the Silver Linings Playbook costars have no intention of dating in real life. Despite rumors to the contrary, both actors have repeatedly refuted reports that they’re an item.

Before Lawrence nabbed the Best Actress in a Leading Role at Sunday’s Academy Awards, the 22-year-old spoke to MTV about her alleged affection for Cooper. (The Oscar winner split with her X-Men: First Class costar Nicholas Hoult in January following a two-year courtship.)

“My publicist told me that a magazine was going to say I was having a thing with either [The Hunger Games: Catching Fire's] Sam Claflin or Bradley Cooper, and I got to choose. And I chose Bradley Cooper because I love Sam’s fiancee [actress Laura Haddock] so much,” Lawrence said. “Sam is so sweet. So sweet that he’s almost not hot anymore.”

Cooper, whose on-and-off romance with Zoe Saldana ended in December 2012, is even getting assistance from Lawrence in the dating department. “I feel like all I’ve been doing lately is setting him up,” the actress revealed. “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna save time and just get you a booklet with pictures of my friends. You just go through and pick them out, because this is getting exhausting.’”

[From Us Weekly]

Isn’t that sweet how JLaw chose not to “be with” Sam in the tabloids because she likes his fiancee? The subtext there is that she doesn’t much care for Bradley’s on/off girl, Zoe Saldana. This week’s issue of Enquirer adds something to this issue with a claim that “protective” JLaw was resting her arm on Bradley at the Vanity Fair Oscar part and “glared at Cooper’s on-again/currently off-again girlfriend Zoe Saldana as she passed by.” That’s actually kind of hilarious, but I hope that whomever JLaw ends up setting Bradley up with is well aware of the fact that the dude hates deodorant. Gross.

Here’s some more photos from Jennifer Lawrence’s Hawaiian getaway. Yes, she’s there to do reshoots for Catching Fire, but I’m willing to bet that producers at least gave her a few days off so she could hang on her balcony and smoke some weed.

Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence want more screen time in ‘X-Men’ sequel

Right after Halle Berry won her Best Actress Oscar in 2002, you know what she did? First, she completed filming Die Another Day (Pierce Brosnan’s last James Bond film) and then she fulfilled her contractual obligation to costar in the sequel to the wildly successful X-Men movie, X2. I remember thinking back then – “Is this a smart career move or a really dumb one right after she wins an Oscar?” Looking back on it… those are probably two of Halle’s most beloved roles, as Jinx and Storm.

Where am I going with this? Ah, yes – Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer just won the Best Actress Oscar, and what are her next career moves? Why, she’s wrapping up production on Catching Fire, a giant, popcorn-movie franchise that rests on her shoulders, and then she’s going to return as a young Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Is it wise for her to follow-up her Oscar win with two sequels? A question for another day. But according to Star, Jennifer is fine with coming back to do Days of Future Past (probably because of L’Fassdong), but she just wants her role to be bigger. Meatier. Maybe with some scenes of Magneto getting down and dirty with Mystique?

The stars of the new X-Men sequel, Days of Future Past, may be ready to suit up for filming, but Star has learned that the A-list cast is anything but united. Jennifer Lawrence is furious with director Bryan Singer for slashing her screen time in favor of Hugh Jackman and Anna Paquin – and she’s not alone in her ire.

“Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are also victims of Bryan’s editing pen, and they’re just an annoyed as Jen is,” tattles the on-set source. “All three stars are earing $3 million for their roles. So they’ve decided to team up and make a plea to Bryan.”

But Jen’s managers are worried about her breaking rank this early in her career.

“Bryan Singer is not the sort of person you want to piss off,” warns the insider. “She should just shut up and get on with things.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

While I have trust in Bryan Singer, it does sound like he’s jamming a lot of stuff into this movie. Fassbender, McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Peter Dinklage, plus scores of the “original” cast members are rumored to return, like Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and on and on. Incidentally, there are no rumors involving the return of Zoe Kravitz or January Jones, both of whom gave horrible performances in First Class. For me, X-Men: First Class worked so well because we really got to know Eric and Xavier as young men/mutants, seeing how their personalities developed. So… I do hope we get more of that, because God knows I’ll only be going to this one because of FassVoy.

Here’s an alternate theory though – maybe all of these spectacular actors come together because these X-Men movies are kind of fun and they like Bryan Singer and none of them feel like the franchise is resting on their shoulders alone? Maybe it’s just a fun way to spend a few months, you know? Getting paid to hang out with Fassy, McAvoy, J-Law, McKellen, Jackman and Dinklage… that would be a hoot.

Was Kristen Stewart really happy that Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar?

For the past year, the tabloids have been trying to make a girl-fight between Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart happen. They’re the same age, they audition for the same parts, they’ve made cryptic comments in the press, seemingly about each other. The tabloid narrative is this: K-Stew was the big cheese for years, and now Hollywood has a new bright young thing who isn’t so grumpy and lip-bite-y, and Kristen is totally jealous now that everyone is like “Wow, we like Jennifer so much better.” But… does that narrative have any bearing on real life? Jennifer and Kristen allegedly hung out together in Toronto last year, and they seem to like each other – in a “professional friends” sort of way. And now this suspicious piece from Us Weekly:

Bella is Katniss’ biggest fan. When Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress Oscar (for Silver Linings Playbook) on Sunday, Feb. 24, an eyewitness inside L.A.’s Dolby Theatre tells Us Weekly that no one was more excited for her than Kristen Stewart.

“When they announced Jen’s name, Kristen was so happy and cheering for her!” an audience member tells Us. “She was going crazy in her seat.”

Indeed, a mutual pal of the Twilight and Hunger Games stars, both 22, tells Us they’re “very friendly.”

“They’ve hung out a bunch and text,” the friend adds. “They’re funny together.”

In addition to being stars of big movie franchises, the two share another thing in common: they’re both accident prone. Earlier in the evening, Lawrence saw Stewart using crutches and was photographed helping her on the red carpet. Later that night, the Oscar winner suffered her own mishap when she took a tumble — as a billion TV watchers looked on! — while ascending the stage to accept her award.

Back in November 2012, Stewart raved about hanging out with Lawrence and Harry Potter actress Emma Watson.

“She’s so cool,” Stewart told MTV News of Lawrence. “I was a lot younger than her when I first sort of entered this world of franchise land, and I don’t know, I guess we sort of both went, ‘Wow, this is so weird.’ We were actually sat in a corner with Emma Watson as well, the three of us. We were like, ‘Wow, this is strange. This is really cool.’”

“I think people assume that actresses don’t want to [be friends],” she added. “It was kind of a great feeling, to be honest. I was like, ‘This is kind of just awesome.’”

[From Us Weekly]

I think it’s perfectly possible that Kristen is genuinely happy for Jennifer AND Kristen is jealous of Jennifer’s success. People aren’t robots – they can feel a mix of emotions, and I’m just saying, if I was in Kristen’s shoes, I would be jealous too. I like that she’s not making it into a thing publicly though. Hopefully the Twihards and Kristen-loonies will go easy on Jennifer now that they know Kristen has given J-Law her blessing.

Here are some photos of newly-brunette Jennifer just after the Oscars:

Jack Nicholson haunts a Jennifer Lawrence interview, JLaw has cutest reaction

Jennifer Lawrence

Now that the Oscars are over, we’ve steadily moved into the backlash phase, and the feeling of wishing Anne Hathaway would go away for a few years is a given. Somehow though, people don’t feel the same way about Jennifer Lawrence. People just want more of her, and she’s already gone back to work. Yesterday, JLaw almost immediately dyed her hair back to Katniss color for her Catching Fire reshoots.

Before I get to this story, I wanted to quickly mention an article that appeared in the Mail a few days ago, and we didn’t cover it because it’s been fashion city here. Here’s the thing — Jennifer is from Louisville, Kentucky, and whenever she pays a visit to home, she makes sure to stop by and see a very close childhood friend, 23-year-old Andy Strunk, who has Down syndrome. Now I’m pretty sure that her team didn’t put out this story; instead, everything comes straight from Andy (and his mother), who is very proud of JLaw and has been showing the media photos of him and JLaw together at various ages. According to Andy, he and JLaw “are like best friends,” and they talk on the phone all the time because, “She’s kind… I think she has spirit.” I just thought it was a sweet story, and a way to prove that Jennifer has apparently always been very down to earth. Some of you think it’s all an act for her public image, but it’s hard to fake it to this degree.

More proof? A new video from GMA that contains a post-Oscar ceremony interview between JLaw and George Stephanopoulos. The two were discussing Jennifer’s “actual shock” at winning a Best Actress when Jack Nicholson started looming out from the background. George casually stated, “Oh, you got a fan here.” and Jennifer rolls back in disbelief. Then JLaw and Jack compliment each other’s work, and then things get hilarious when Jack starts hitting on her: “You look like an old girlfriend of mine,” to which the she joked, “Oh really, do I look like a new girlfriend?” Jack smugly responds, “I thought about it.” Then he starts to walk away, and she fangirls, and it gets even better, but I’ll let you watch this video for yourself.

Warning: If you don’t like JLaw and don’t want to like JLaw for any reason, please do not watch this video because it will be your JLaw kryptonite.

I love this clip. Jennifer is totally in disbelief over the fact that Jack Nicholson even knows who she is. The dude may very well be a legend, but I think she has more range than he does! She’s so cute and genuine. I think she’ll be around for a very long time. Maybe even longer than Jack.

Thanks to E! Online for this gif.

Jennifer Lawrence in shimmery Calvin Klein at the Vanity Fair party: perfection?

Jennifer Lawrence

Yowza. Jennifer Lawrence killed it at the Vanity Fair Oscar party after her rise (and fall) on the way to claim her gold-plated statuette. This gown is Calvin Klein, and this is how you do shiny and metallic well … unlike Halle Berry’s dress for the evening. Does anyone actually think this dress would have looked better at the awards ceremony itself instead of the poufy Dior ball gown? It would have never happened though because Jlaw’s contractually obligated to wear Dior to most major events now, but a girl can dream.

This was JLaw’s night, and she clearly enjoyed the hell out of herself in this dress that highlighted every curve on her body. Everything about this look — from the fit to the hair and makeup to the simple yet bold jewelry (even the statement ring) — is perfection here. I dare you to find a flaw. Finally, her stylist got it all right at the very last possible moment of the awards season.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel didn’t look at all like her usual whimsiquirkalicious self in this drab Valentino dress. It’s a pretty dress, but it didn’t jump out and (obnoxiously?) grab you like most of Zooey’s wardrobe. Honestly, she looked kind of miserable, and the dress really swallowed her up. Her new haircut is really cute though!

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel

Jason Statham

Hot Jason Statham was there with Rosie Huntington-Whitely, who wore a really ugly Valentino couture dress. So many ruffles, and so many layers, and so much pink. Not only was the dress pink, but Rosie pinked up her mood lips too. The choker portion of this getup looks very uncomfortable as well. At least Jason looked good, but it’s pretty hard to mess up a tux. Guys are so lucky that way.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely

Leslie Mann

Leslie Mann wore a red-orange Andrew Gn gown with long sleeves and an understated plunge to the neckline. I think she looked really great here! Even though she’s totally covered up, Leslie managed to look both sexy and sophisticated due to the great fit of this dress. Her hair and makeup are typical of her usual style, but they’re still gorgeous here. This is how to be alluring while not letting one’s rack fall out all over the red carpet.

Jennifer Lawrence in poufy Dior at the Oscars: one of her best looks yet or boring?

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence continued her Christian Dior trend at the Oscars last night (where she won Best Actress!) with this white (pale pink?), poufy Dior Haute Couture gown. Perhaps my only complaint is that it was a white dress and too weddingish, and I wanted to see Jennifer in a brighter color. Maybe even red to reference that amazing Calvin Klein gown from two years ago. Too much to ask? Probably. Most of you seemed to love the white color on this close-to ball gown. I have to admit that Jennifer looks a lot better here than she has on most red carpets of late. What really won me over was not even the dress but the pearl-encrusted necklace falling down her back. Her makeup even looks good here! She should always do smokey eyes.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

Of course, everyone knows that Jennifer tripped (and fell!) on the way up the stage stairs. I think this happened not only because of the sheer size of her dress but also because she seemed breathless and genuinely surprised that she won for Best Actress. She probably really thought it would go to someone else — it was like she felt that she hadn’t paid her dues enough to win this massive award yet. Please don’t let her go all Gwyneth on us now. Here’s a video of the fall and JLaw’s acceptance speech:

Jennifer Lawrence

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried was pretty damn gorgeous in her lilac/nude organza gown by Alexander McQueen. You can tell that, unlike a lot of her other red carpet dresses, Amanda loves this gown. She should! She proudly admitted, “they’ve been working on this [dress] for months. I feel super lucky.” The halter top design is what really sets this dress off for me, and all of the embroidery would ordinarily seem like overkill to me, but everything just drapes so beautifully with this dress. Her dramatic makeup really brought out those peepers too.

Amanda Seyfried

Samantha Barks

Samantha Barks wore a wonderfully simple, silhouette-hugging, black Valentino gown. Bam! If audiences didn’t know who Samantha was before the show, they sure know now. Somehow, she pulls off a seriously plunging neckline without looking cheap, and this girl really reminds me of a younger Diane Lane in this dress. I wouldn’t use that comparison for hardly anyone, but Samantha’s just that gorgeous here. Jewelry is by Forevermark, and the slightly messy updo is perfect. Kelly Osbourne called this dress the black equivalent of Jennifer Lawrence’s red Calvin Klein gown.

Jennifer Lawrence wins the Best Actress Oscar, falls up the stairs (poor girl)

This was the hardest category to predict, I think. A month ago, I would have said that Jessica Chastain was definitely the favorite to win. But then the SAGs happened and Jennifer Lawrence was the one to beat. And then Emmanuelle Riva had a late surge because many Oscar voters thought she should get a de facto “lifetime achievement” Oscar. Quvenzhané Wallis and Naomi Watts both got early buzz, but the buzz faded significantly over the past month. I guess Jennifer and Emmanuelle came into the Oscars with the most buzz.

… And Jennifer won! And she immediately became a million times more likeable by falling up the stairs! Girl, I feel you. I’ve fallen up stairs too. She seemed genuinely shocked and it didn’t seem rehearsed. I liked her short little speech and I liked the she gave a shout-out to Emmanuelle for her birthday. I think I’m in shock a little bit – Jennifer is ONLY 22 years old! She’s one of the youngest Best Actress winners ever. Oscar historians: is she the youngest Best Actress winner ever?

Congrats, Jennifer! I hope you didn’t hurt yourself falling up those stairs! Poor thing. She handled that so much better than anyone else could have.
