Jennifer Aniston Ring Watch: Justin “helped design the ring” of course

Here are some of those photos of Jennifer Aniston yesterday, on the set of We’re the Millers, filming a scene with her shirt open and her bra exposed. Judging from her Rachel-Green-is-peeved expression, I’m guessing that the scene has her fuming and telling off her pretend husband, played by Jason Sudeikis, possibly because he was the one to pop open her blouse?

Anyway, as we continued to discuss yesterday, everyone is still on Aniston Ring Watch. She’s building the anticipation for the big reveal! Because I still don’t think she’s even been wearing her engagement ring the past few days – I think she’s just been wearing her prop wedding band from this dumb film. People Mag got into the whole “Ring Watch” thing yesterday when they revealed some previously unknown information about the ring:

Jennifer Aniston happily shared her engagement news – but she hasn’t been so forthcoming about the ring she received from Justin Theroux.

The newly engaged star, 43, seems to be playing peek-a-boo with her ring as she was photographed leaving a movie theater in North Carolina, where she is filming the movie We’re the Millers. In the photos taken Friday, she mostly keeps her left hand hidden in her pocket, but in one shot is seen wearing a simple gold band on her ring finger.

But is the plain band the same ring she accepted from her fiancé when he popped the question on his birthday earlier this month? Has she turned the bauble around to hide a diamond or is it really a simple band?

According to a source, Theroux, 41, helped design the ring with a friend who is a jeweler, which suggests something more elaborate than a gold band.

Reps for the couple are staying mum.

So for now, fans will have to wait for the ring to be unveiled.

[From People]

So, Justin “helped design the ring”. What does that remind me of? I can’t quite remember. It’s probably not important. Believe it or not, I’ve actually been giving JustJen the benefit of the doubt the past few weeks, but as the ring debut gets drawn out, I’m beginning to reach for my Uncool Bermuda Triangle tin-foil hat. Why is that we can’t even get a confirmation on WHICH jeweler Justin Theroux went to for the ring? I’m fine with the idea that we haven’t seen the ring yet, and that Jennifer hasn’t wanted to show it off. But it seems really strange to me that no information has been confirmed about the ring thus far (I’m not counting Life & Style’s report, because it just seemed like guesswork).

Is Jennifer Aniston finally showing off her engagement ring? Probably not.

Fame/Flynet is promoting these photos as “Newly engaged star Jennifer Aniston shows off her engagement ring on the set of her new film “We’re the Millers” on August 20, 2012 in Wilmington, North Carolina.” Er. Is that really what’s happening here? Here are the possibilities:

1. This is totally Jennifer’s engagement ring, she just has it turned around so the diamond is facing towards her palm.

2. This is totally Jennifer’s engagement ring, and Justin Theroux is super-cheap and the diamond is so small, it’s practically invisible.

3. This is Jennifer’s wedding band! Because JustJen eloped months ago.

4. This is Jennifer’s prop wedding band for the film We’re the Millers, considering she’s in costume as a hooker turned pretend wife/mother, and the wedding band is part of her character’s character.

5. This is a prop ring because Justin Theroux hasn’t bought her engagement ring yet because CONSPIRACYBrangelinaUNCOOL, etc.

6. This is a prop ring because Jennifer hasn’t had the chance to buy her own engagement ring, which will obviously be much bigger than the ring Brad gave The Leg.

7. This is Jennifer Aniston’s wedding band from her marriage to Brad Pitt. Because sometimes she wears it while eating ice cream and watching ‘Say Yes To the Dress’.

8. This is a promise ring given to her by a Jonas Brother.

9. This is the same ring she’s been wearing for months, ever since she started dating Justin Theroux.

10. This is a ring she stole from Heidi Bivens. Obviously.

11. This is a ring that somehow, somewhere, in some way equals BABIES!

Is that enough? Are there possibilities I didn’t get to? Let’s be real – we’ll eventually see her engagement ring. I’m excited for the big reveal to happen, and I hope that when it happens, it will be at some major event and everybody will get lots of photos from The Ring in different angles and we can all Ooo and Ahh and judge the ring. But that day hasn’t come yet. Pace yourselves!

Jennifer Aniston’s engagement ring is allegedly “a huge emerald-cut diamond”

On Monday, Jennifer Aniston was photographed on the set of We’re the Millers, that film where she’s playing a stripper or hooker masquerading as a wife and mom. We didn’t have access to the photos, but you can see them here – she was photographed wearing a grey robe and flip-flops, in between costumes and such. What was notable was that the photographer didn’t get a shot of Jennifer’s new engagement ring. She managed all the right angles, positioned and draped fabric just the right way so that the photographer didn’t get the shot. What does it mean? Does it mean that Justin hasn’t picked out a ring yet? Does it mean that Jennifer didn’t want her big ring debut to be while she was wearing a robe and slippies? I don’t even know. Life & Style claims that THEY know, though. They claim that Justin gave Jennifer a giant emerald-cut diamond ring:

Justin Theroux certainly knows the way to his lady’s heart! Just four days after Justin proposed to his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, on his 41st birthday, Life & Style, on newsstands tomorrow, can reveal exclusive details about Jen’s much-talked-about ring!

“It’s a huge emerald-cut diamond,” a friend of Jen’s tells Life & Style. “It’s a rectangle with tapered diamond baguettes on the sides.”

The source estimates the ring to be 8 carats, adding, “It’s beautiful.”

And the 43-year-old actress is beaming with happiness.

“Just after Jen got engaged, she called all her friends and told them about it,” the friend reveals. “She was so happy and said she loves the ring. I think she was overwhelmed and overjoyed by the size and beauty of it!”

Though the duo are very protective of their personal lives, Jen has revealed just how great it is to be in the relationship.

“I’m very happy,” Jen has said about her personal life with Justin. “I’m extremely lucky, and I’m extremely happy.”

“Having experienced everything you don’t want in a partner over time, it starts to narrow down to what you actually do want,” she’s also said. “As I get older, I realize what qualities are important in love and what suits me — and what I won’t settle for.”

The couple have been dating for more than a year since meeting on the set of Wanderlust in May 2011. Before meeting Jen, Justin dated Heidi Bivens for 14 years. Jen was married to actor Brad Pitt in 2000 and finalized their divorce in October 2005.

[From Life & Style]

I love a good emerald cut. Emerald-cuts are maybe my second favorite after Asscher cuts, although in the past decade, Asscher cuts have grown in popularity to the point where they just don’t seem as special anymore. Sigh… what were we talking about? Ah, yes. Jennifer and the ring. I hope she got a nice one. I hope Justin picked it out himself and that he has a good eye for jewelry. I’m not sure if I buy Life & Style’s story, but I do think it’s strange that no jeweler has come out, proclaiming that Justin Theroux bought from their boutique. Hm.

By the way, yesterday Jezebel ran a strange piece about Aniston and our (society’s) continuing interest in the state of her womb, and how we should all just leave her alone, pity party, etc, and why oh why does this never happen to George Clooney? I’ll say what I always say – Jennifer did this to herself, she brought all of the speculation on herself because she talked about having babies for years and years and even in that infamous Vanity Fair interview in 2005, she was still claiming that she wanted babies and of course Brad did not leave her because of the lack of babies, etc. I would be fine if Jennifer came out and said, “Yeah, I never really cared about having babies.” You know, because that’s what George Clooney always says or indicates – he’s not interested in having a wife. He’s not interested in babies. He’s honest about it when asked, which is why his private life gets treated differently – because he sets up a different set of expectations. Just my opinion. This is just to prepare all of you for 20 million tabloid covers proclaiming “Jennifer Aniston: A wedding AND a baby!” and “JustJen’s Twins and a Greek Elopement” etc.

Should Duchess Kate be criticized for wearing a $78K Cartier necklace?

We discussed this a bit yesterday, but I missed the price tag on the necklace Duchess Kate wore to her pre-Olympic photo-op at the National Portrait Gallery. In addition to wearing that blue Stella McCartney dress (the color suited her, but the design was awful), Kate wore an uncharacteristically large Cartier necklace. It cost… $78,000!!!!

Kate’s Olympic-style necklace is from Cartier and is said to be from her personal collection. It happens to come at a price of $78,000, too, a source at the store in London tells PEOPLE.

The necklace, from the Trinity range, is made from white and yellow gold and, with its five rings (capped with a large one at its pendant), she felt it was “appropriate” to wear for the event, which celebrated pictures of leading athletes at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Beyond confirming it was from her “private collection,” a spokesman at Kate’s office would not comment on the piece, or its price or whether she received it as a present, saying only, “It’s a personal piece which she’s had for some time. It’s not an official Olympic item but it’s appropriate to wear it.”

[From People]

You know what? I think I’m one of the few people that doesn’t have a problem with this whatsoever. I love jewelry. I love looking at photos of jewelry. I love talking about jewelry. I like that Duchess Kate is bringing out some jewelry-p0rn – because that is part of her “job” too, in my opinion. We expect her to wear nice things to appropriate events – and I think this was an “appropriate” event. It’s not like the time she wore an expensive Alexander McQueen, button-smothered sailor suit to meet with the victims of the London riots. And it’s not like (this hasn’t happened) she wore a $100K diamond necklace while meeting with the homeless. She wore a nice piece of jewelry to a gallery event. It’s fine.

But I’ve glanced through some American and UK sites, and Kate is being heavily criticized for wearing such a pricey piece of hardware, and there are questions about how this came to be in her “private collection.” Eh. I love a good conspiracy theory, but I still think this is fine. I do have a hilarious interpretation of Kate’s necklace, though – you know how it looks like an Olympic medal? It’s like Kate is telling the Olympic athletes, “I have a medal too! Mine costs more than yours! And I got my medal for waiting 10 years to marry a prince! That’s a sport, right?”

Meanwhile, Kate’s parents have gotten into a spot of trouble. It seems that their company, Party Pieces, is using official Olympic images without permission from the Olympic committee. So… yeah. Scandal!

Party Pieces, the company started by the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents, Carole and Michael, in their garden shed in 1987, has been asked to change parts of its website by Olympic officials concerned about its promotion of goods associated with the Games.

The couple built up a lucrative business through producing fun bags and themed items for celebrations, such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and their daughter’s wedding.

But their Olympic themed party goods advertised under the heading “Celebrate the Games” have been investigated by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.

Locog is keen to protect the integrity of official sponsorship deals with 55 companies worth £700 million.

The committee has apparently asked Party Pieces to change a page bearing a picture of the Olympic torch covered by a Union flag, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Another image to attract the attention of Locog was one of a woman throwing a javelin under the strapline: “Let the Games Begin”.

Locog said in cases where firms breached rules enforcement officials would send them a warning letter or phone them. Only the most blatant breaches would result in further action.

“We will ring and explain the obligations and most times this dialogue is friendly.

“People are usually doing it to be part of the fun, but companies are not allowed to promote an association with the Games if they are not a sponsor.”

[From Hello Mag]

The Olympic committees take this stuff very seriously in all countries. We can’t just claim “OMG, Come and celebrate the Olympics with Celebitchy!!” or use any of the Olympic logos. I’m actually concerned about what we’ll be able to cover anything from the Olympics because there will probably only be ONE photo agency with a contract with the Olympics, and the videos from the events will be closely guarded too. Eh, we should be able to make it work. As for the Middletons and their problems with the Olympic committee – it sounds like everything was already handled in a low-key way.

She got a gold medal in waiting!! It’s because she stuck the landing.

Why did Justin Timberlake buy Jessica Biel $250,000 worth of engagement jewelry?

Do you know how much I love writing about jewelry? I wish I could write about jewelry every day. I wish more celebrities bought and gifted more jewelry, and they all issued press releases about the jewelry and we had lots of close-up photos of the pieces. Oh, and handbags!! I could spend all day on handbags and jewelry. Anyway, this is a story about jewelry, and it’s also a story about Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. I never thought of Justin as a big gift-giver, nor do I think he really has an “eye” for ladies’ fashion or jewelry – judging by his choice for Biel’s engagement ring, he likes really big, gaudy pieces. Apparently, Justin is getting into the spirit of things, though, and he gave Jessica some additional bling to celebrate their engagement:

As if the $130,000 engagement ring that Justin Timberlake dropped on Jessica Biel back in December weren’t enough, he just showered her with a prewedding gift fit for a princess: $250,000 worth of jewelry! JT presented Biel with a stunning diamond necklace-and-bracelet set worth more than many American family homes.

“She’s ecstatic, she looks incredible in the set,” says an insider, who noted that JT had been planning to give her the jewelry for months, even using a shopping trip in May to jeweler Eli Halili’s store in NYC’s SoHo to gauge her tastes.

Even her engagement ring can’t compare to his sparkly gift, which is “easily worth a quarter of a mil,” the insider says. But Jessica and her family are thrilled because to them the present represents a lot more than its dollar value.

“It’s like he has finally made up his mind and is ready to spend the rest of his life with this woman,” the insider claims. The gems are all part of a trend of Justin showering Jessica with rocks after what has been a rocky relationship. Over the past four years, Star has reported him straying with no less than four separate women.

The jewelry seems to have a palliative effect. “The whole Biel clan is really excited… no one more so than Jessica, who finally – after all the heartache and tears – has landed the man of her dreams.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

You know what I got from that? Justin can (continue to) do whatever he wants with whoever he wants just as long as he continues to give Jessica nice jewelry. Is that an acceptable trade-off? If Jessica was hoping for true love, a love of commitment and mutual respect and fidelity, I would say it’s a crappy tradeoff. But I think Jessica is fine with Justin doing whatever and whoever, so maybe the jewelry is just a bonus. Would you have sex with Justin Timberlake for $250,000 worth of diamonds? I might consider it, honestly.

PS… If you’re like me (a total jewelry wh-re), check out this blog.

Keira Knightley shows off her 2-carat, $40K diamond engagement ring in London

Last week, Keira Knightley and James Righton announced their engagement. This was weird to me because A) Keira is super-private these days, and I was surprised that she would even confirm or announce her engagement and B) I didn’t know Keira and James were so serious. I really thought James was Keira’s jumpoff, her rebound after five years with Rupert Friend. But it looks like James is The One. Anyway, these are new photos of Keira and James last night in London. This is actually the second post-engagement, paparazzi-friendly outing that they’ve done – you can see the first batch here. It feels like… Keira wants all of us to see her with James, and to see the ring? Which is kind of cute, I think. Keira is the kind of girl who wants to show off her ring. It’s adorable. They seem so happy.

As for the ring, Us Weekly contacted “jewelry expert” Michael O’Connor, who discussed his opinion on the ring: “This is truly the most classic of all engagement ring styles… It’s a solid platinum band with a brilliant cut solitaire diamond, approximately 2 carats. Estimated price tag is $40,000. Not only is this ring sophisticated and timeless, but I love that she’s wearing a platinum setting that you can find within most budgets.” You can see clearer photos of the ring here, but I’ve also included some closeups below:

Thoughts? It feels like a ring that James picked out himself. Like, he went into the jewelry store and, knowing Keira so well, decided that he would choose something for her. I like the simplicity, and God knows I love the minimalism. I think it suits Keira – the real Keira, who I think it probably very low-key. The bitch in me wishes the stone was bigger, though.

Angelina Jolie “Style of Jolie” jewelry line is being used to build girls’ schools

Last year, Angelina Jolie debuted her new jewelry line in association/partnership with jewelry designer Robert Procop. The profits from the “Style of Jolie” line go to charity – we covered a preview of some of the pieces here. While I don’t think the “Style of Jolie” line is full-on awful, I do see Angelina’s 1970s-style-influences all over these pieces. She loves a smoky topaz. She loves emeralds. She loves yellow gold, and she likes jewelry that I would call “chunky”. Best case scenario: I like some of earrings and I would probably wear some of the rings. But in general, this is not my aesthetic, although I should note that “The Style of Jolie” is getting some love from Hollywood.

Anyway, Procop and Jolie have designed even more pieces for 2012, and Procop gave an interview to People Magazine to talk up the line:

Her engagement ring caused quite a stir, but Angelina Jolie is hoping the latest gems from her jewelry line, Style of Jolie, attract even more attention.

“It’s a labor of love,” Jolie’s co-designer, Robert Procop, tells PEOPLE. That’s in part because 100 percent of profits benefit the actress’s charity, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. In fact, she’s planning to break ground on a school for girls in Qala Gadu, Afghanistan, using funds from jewelry sales.

“Our commitment is always supporting the children’s charity, which remains the overall intention and purpose of the collection,” Procop adds.

But there’s fun involved, too; Procop says the pair “strive for nothing less than artistic innovation with every jewel,” like the newest offering, a sleek emerald bracelet.

“She is very classically chic,” he says of Jolie. “We cultivated this style, which echoes a woman’s timeless allure. When you see the collection, it has a distinction. When you look at it, you recognize that it’s the Style of Jolie.”

Last year, Procop told PEOPLE that Jolie was involved “every step of the way” in the design process. “[The collection] is what she enjoys wearing on the red carpet, but also what she enjoys when she’s at home,” he added.

She enjoys wearing it on her ring finger, too; Procop created her engagement ring with input from her longtime partner, Brad Pitt. According to a rep for the jeweler, “the feedback [on the ring] has been wonderful. It’s all about love.”

[From People]

We can’t use the image of the new emerald bracelet (it’s just an emerald tennis bracelet set in yellow gold – it’s pretty but kind of dated), but you can see it at People online. I also looked around and Procop does have a site and there are lots of photos of The Style of Jolie line, which you can see here (I’m including some images below). I could totally see my mom wearing this stuff – back in 1979, while wearing a fashion-forward muumuu.

Jessica Biel joins Twitter, is considering Britney Spears’s wedding dress designer

Jessica Biel has a Twitter! And it just took me way too long to find it – you can see her feed here. She began tweeting right before the Met Ball, and has now tweeted two photos and several cheesy movie titles using the word “t-tties”. Just before the Met Ball, she tweeted “I can’t zip up my dress. Welcome to my world! #MetBall” with this photo:

Jessica Biel on WhoSay

Now, I don’t hate the idea of celebrities on Twitter. At this point in time, I consistently get good stories and gossip from celebrity Twitter accounts. I don’t think Jessica will be a LeAnn Rimes-level tweeter, but I hope she won’t be just some boring shill like Jessica Simpson, who constantly tweets stuff about Fashion Star. Personally, I’m looking forward to Biel’s musings. Maybe she won’t seem so boring and vanilla when we can read her drunken Twitter ramblings.

Also, Us Weekly (and People Magazine) report that Jessica and Justin’s post-Met Gala activities included ring shopping! You know I can’t help myself around jewelry stories:

The lord and lady of the rings! Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were one of the most jaw-dropping couples on the red carpet at Monday’s Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. (Biel wore a plunging white Prada dress with cascading jade green stones; Timberlake looked handsome in a black Tom Ford tuxedo with a satin shawl lapel, evening shirt, satin bowtie, cufflinks and leather “Chelsea” boots.)

Over the weekend, however, the recently engaged couple were their more typical low-key selves in the Big Apple at jewelry boutique Eli Halili in Soho — where Biel, 30, and Timberlake, 31, tried on wedding bands.

Set to wed this August, the couple of five years spent over a half an hour Saturday in the shop with jewelry designer Eli Halili trying on wedding bands and perusing other pieces in the shop, including one-of-a-kind ancient rings and precious stone necklaces.

Although they didn’t select their wedding bands during Saturday’s jaunt, the twosome did drop $6,500 — buying a $2,200 ring (a 24 carat gold ring with a labradorite semi-precious stone) and two necklaces ($2,500 and $1,800, respectively).

No confirmation yet on what designer New Year’s Eve actress Biel will select for her wedding gown.

“Monique Lhuillier has sent over some sketches,” says a Biel pal. “She’s Jessica’s first choice.”

As for the venue? The couple have reportedly been mulling locations from California to Italy. “It will be a big wedding,” a source told Us. “They have lots of people they want to invite.”

[From Us Weekly]

I had to Google images of labradorite to see what that stone looks like. It’s kind of pretty – I’m not sure if I’d like a labradorite ring, though. I don’t know… I’d have to see it. I hope Biel tweets a photo of it. As for the possibility that Biel would wear Monique Lhuillier… I seriously doubt it. Biel will not wear a wedding gown designed by the woman who also did Britney Spears’ wedding gown to Kevin Federline. My guess is that Biel will go with someone like Valentino or Giambattista Valli, who Biel is trying to become the “muse” of.

LeAnn Rimes shows off her giant anniversary present ring: cute or awful?

These are some photos of LeAnn Rimes at the Malibu Beach Inn Hotel yesterday. As we discussed, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian celebrated their one-year anniversary yesterday, and of course, LeAnn spent the whole weekend on Twitter to celebrate. She was tweeting photos of her “presents” and such, which I’ll get to in a moment. First, this tweet made me LMAO: “Sitting w/ Eddie reading Kahlil Gibran. Amazing quote…. ‘Is there a greater fault than being conscious of the other person’s faults?’” OMG. That just happened. LeAnn and Eddie spent their anniversary sitting around, while Eddie read Khalil Gibran and LeAnn thought about how everyone judged her, and she decided to tweet about it to sound smart and she misspelled the famous writer’s name. Amazing. This is a photo she tweeted, which makes me think that LeAnn was giving Eddie a beej as he was reading. Ah, first anniversaries!

Anyway, LeAnn got presents! Nevermind that she had to give Eddie her credit card and explain to him exactly what kind of jewelry she wanted. She tweeted, “Angels gave me a gift…so pretty! What a great day already!” She probably means that her step-sons gave her this necklace… which I actually kind of like (I would like it more in white gold).

And before that, she tweeted this photo of the ring Eddie gave her. She wrote, “I have a very thoughtful husband with GREAT taste!!!!” Seriously? It’s a pretty tacky-looking cocktail ring.

What kind of stone is that? I’m trying to figure it out. I think it’s semi-precious. Like, a quartz or jade or maybe green tourmaline. Here’s a site with a list of green semi-precious stones: what does it look like to you?

Leonardo DiCaprio gave Blake a $35K sapphire bracelet for her birthday

blakepa007

As their summer romance gently makes its way into fall, Leonardo DiCaprio still seems like he adores Blake Lively. Leo is currently in Australia, filming The Great Gatsby, while Blake does the bicoastal thing, film Gossip Girl in NYC and filming the movie The Savages in LA with Olivier Stone – these are some recent photos from the Savages set, by the way.

You would think that perhaps Leo would invest in a new piece while his lover is hundreds of miles away – you would be wrong. By most accounts, Leo is keeping his head down and awaiting Blake’s next trip to Australia – she’s already flown out for one 4-day visit that we know of, and while she was there, Leo lavished her with attention, taking her out to dinner, organizing private tours of zoos and all of that good stuff. The dude is in love, and he wants to celebrate his love by lavishing all kinds of things on or around Blake. Allegedly, he already bought her a Prius, and there were reports that he dropped $70,000 on gifts for Blake while they were in Italy earlier this summer. So what did Leo do for her birthday? He shelled out some cash for a nice piece of jewelry. Not a ring, but it’s good enough.

Leonardo DiCaprio must be one of the most amazing boyfriends ever! Though a relationship isn’t based on lavish gifts, a girl can’t complain when her boyfriend hands her an incredible piece of jewelry — and that’s exactly what Leo did. He gave Blake Lively a $35,000 sapphire-and-gold bracelet for her 24th b-day on Aug. 25, a source tells Star magazine!

Not only did Gossip Girl star receive an expensive present, but Leo, 36, flew her to Sydney, Australia where he’s currently filming The Great Gatsby so that he could spend time with her.

“He gave her the bracelet as soon as she stepped off the plane,” the source reveals. “She was incredibly touched.”

And Blake may just be expecting another very pricey jewel from Leo quite soon … possibly an engagement ring.

“He says, ‘I could see myself settling down and having kids with this girl,’” shares the source.

[From Hollywood Life]

Blake is a Virgo (like me) – our birthstone is sapphire. It helps that sapphires are one of the prettiest gems (IMO), so I tend to love any story involving the purchase of some kind of sapphire. I really hope that Leo gave her a sapphire something-something, just because I want to imagine him in the jewelry store, telling the salesman about his girlfriend’s birthday. I like that image of him. Could it be that Leo is secretly a nice guy, and a good, present-giving boyfriend? Or are you still suspicious?

As for Blake – bitch has got game. Zoe Kravitz needs to step it up if she’s ever going to bring it like Blake.
