Star: Jim Toth’s ex says Jim is a ‘slimy drunk’ who ‘corrupted young women’

I know many of you simply roll your eyes at many Star Magazine stories, but occasionally they latch onto some interesting pieces of information that I’m willing to buy. This is one of those times. Even before Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth got arrested in Georgia in April, I sometimes wondered if there was something shady about Jim. It wasn’t like I had any proof or anything, but he just seemed like a guy with secrets, a guy who worked in Hollywood and married an Oscar-winning actress but a guy who actively shunned the spotlight. Well, Star has an interview with a woman who claims she dated Jim years ago, and she has an interesting take on who he really is:

The arrests of Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth came as a shock to most everyone – particularly when the sauced Hollywood agent tried to distance himself from Reese by telling Georgia State Patrol, “I had nothing to do with that.” One of Jim’s former flames, however, has come forward in an exclusive to tell Star that Jim’s April 19th arrest was far from a surprise, claiming it’s the latest development in a long line of selfish, reckless behavior.

“I always knew he was bound to get caught eventually,” says the ex (who asked not to be named). “When I heard the news about the arrests, it didn’t really faze me.”

Jim’s ex describes his history of using women – and she is convinced that it’s only a matter of time until he breaks Reese’s heart.

“There is a whole other side to his personality that people don’t know. He wants people to think he’s a great guy, but he’s not. He’s a bad guy who will only drag Reese down.”

Jim’s ex says he was always a slick-talking insider with an eye for naïve girls new to the industry: “I was a lot younger than him when he hit on me,” she recalls, and claims that Jim, now 42, happily used his age and industry knowledge to his advantage. “He put on this front like he wasn’t like all the other backstabbing Hollywood agents, but I quickly realized that he was. That’s why he is so successful at his job.”

She says he was a “slimy” drunk who would throw poolside parties at his mansion, to which he would invite other, younger women. “He had a closet where he kept bikinis in all different sizes so the girls could undress and get into his hot tub. He corrupted young women and sucked the life force out of them.”

Jim’s reps deny his ex’s claims, but his ex says that Jim’s drunken antics have been going on for years: “He used to drunk dial me all the time. If I didn’t pick him up, the next day he’d call me and tell me that if he had driven home drunk he could’ve killed someone. Last time I checked, he was a 30-something man who had enough money to call a car service.”

“Jim is a manipulative snake with no respect for others’ well-being. This incident with the arrest is the exact Jim I knew.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

While this story seems kind of vague and histrionic, it does have me interested in finding out more. Like, just how young were the women invited to his famous pool parties? And a single guy with a closet full of bikinis in different sizes? I’m sorry, but that’s gross. That says, “I think I’m Hugh Hefner” and who wants that? As for the other stuff… yeah, he drunk dialed and he fooled around and he seemed like a sleaze. Maybe I’m naïve, but I think all of that is a requirement to be an agent, right?

Reese Witherspoon & Jim Toth get boozy together in NYC, so much for rehab

These are not the best optics for Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth. They’ve been in NYC for a few days, and on Tuesday, they were photographed enjoying some beverages during a visit to the Soho House. Jim seems to be drinking a glass of rosé while Reese has slurped down what looks like… a gin and tonic maybe? Something with a lime twist, although it could be water (do people order water with lime twists?). It’s one thing to hear about Reese and Jim continuing the party just days after their boozy Atlanta arrests, but it’s quite another to see how comfortable they are (presumably) draining some alcoholic beverages in the middle of the day.

What’s interesting is that before the videos of Reese’s arrest went public, her PR strategy seemed to be “throw Jim under the bus”. Someone leaked to People Magazine that Jim was a big social drinker and that post-arrest he was considering going to rehab. Then the videos came out and suddenly people were like “Wow, Reese is one obnoxious drunk bitch.” Maybe we can just take these photos as proof that neither Jim nor Reese really give a crap about how much they’re seen drinking. Now my idea of their marriage is more Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and less Legally Blonde.

I guess there are some people who like Reese more now that she’s been revealed to be an obnoxious drunk who mouths off to police officers and lets her drunk husband drive her home. I guess her fanbase has grown because of this experience and she feels like she doesn’t have to follow-through with any real changes to her behavior. Which means that chances are, what happened in Atlanta will probably happen again.

Dash-cam video of Reese Witherspoon’s arrest released & it’s amazing

Reese Witherspoon’s GMA interview yesterday seemed to inspire mixed feelings from most people. I think many of Reese’s fans will be able to forgive her transgressions and they’ll eventually see her as the same old bubbly, blonde sweetheart. Maybe the only thing Reese won’t be able to get away with – for a while, anyway – is acting like she’s the only “good girl” in Hollywood. No more simpering judgments about nude photos, no more holier-than-thou interviews where she reinforces the idea that she’s the only sane woman in Hollywood. Never again!

So, as I said in yesterday’s post, Reese’s “post-arrest comeback” plan is immediate and multi-pronged. The interview was part of that, and so is this news – that Reese has already quietly taken care of her disorderly conduct arrest.

Reese Witherspoon’s day in court has come and gone, with virtually none of the drama that surrounded her original April 19 arrest in Atlanta, Ga. On Thursday, May 2, the Oscar winner’s lawyer, Bruce Morris, appeared in court on her behalf to plead no contest to the disorderly conduct charge that had been leveled against her, TMZ reports. Her husband, CAA agent Jim Toth, pled guilty to driving under the influence, and was present for the court date.

Witherspoon, 37 — who famously asked the arresting officer if he knew who she was — will reportedly pay just a $213 fine for her infraction. But Toth, 41, will face a harsher punishment.

While he didn’t receive any jail time for the DUI charge, he has been sentenced to perform 40 hours of community service. Additionally, he must attend an alcohol education program and will be on probation for 12 months.

According to TMZ, the judge told Toth he was lucky the damage wasn’t worse. “Consider yourself fortunate you didn’t injure your passenger and didn’t kill anyone,” the gossip site quotes the judge as saying.

The court news comes just hours after Witherspoon’s mea culpa on Good Morning America. Speaking about the arrest on the ABC show, the Mud actress said she “literally panicked” when she saw the police officer arresting her husband.

“I told him I was pregnant. I’m not pregnant,” she revealed. “I said all kinds of crazy things.”

“I was so disrespectful to him,” she added of the cop. “I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It’s just unacceptable.”

[From Us Weekly]

That judge sounds pretty no-nonsense. And 40 hours of community service plus an alcohol education class? How easy is that? I bet his lawyer will even be able to work it out so Jim can do his community service hours in LA too. As for Reese’s punishment… only $213 for mouthing off to a cop? Only $213 for refusing a direct order from an officer arresting a drunk driver? I wonder how differently this whole situation would have gone down if Reese and Jim were African-American. Someone would have gotten tasered, at the very least.

Oh, and the dash-cam videos from Reese’s arrest were released and they are a hoot! We already know all of the crap she said, but hearing her say it is pretty awesome/frightening/hilarious. This is how I imagine Lindsay Lohan acts all the time:

Reese Witherspoon returns to her children in LA: ‘Her kids are everything to her’

Reese Witherspoon was photographed yesterday. We don’t have the photos – you can see them here. I guess she knew there were cameras and she made sure to smile her big Southern-girl smile. “Who me? I would never play the ‘do you know who I am?’ card!” What I find interesting isn’t that Reese and Jim have returned to LA after a liquor-soaked trip to Georgia that ended in dual arrests. No, what I find interesting is that Reese is only now “reuniting” with her kids…? So, were Ava and Deacon with their dad this whole time? And where was baby Tennessee James? Luckily, People Magazine has a rosy, sympathetic story to go along with Reese’s return:

Reese Witherspoon is getting back to life as usual.

“She is happy to be home with her kids again,” a source says of the actress, 37, who returned to L.A. on Monday after her April 19 arrest in Atlanta for disorderly conduct and her husband Jim Toth’s DUI arrest the same night.

Her older children, 13-year-old Ava and 9-year-old Deacon, had been staying with their father, actor Ryan Phillippe, while Witherspoon was on location in Atlanta shooting the drama The Good Lie.

“She didn’t feel good about being away from them after the news of her arrest broke,” says the source. “Her kids are everything to her.” As PEOPLE reports in this week’s issue, a worried Witherspoon called her kids to tell them what had happened after the arrests. Another source close to Witherspoon says she remains “mortified” by the incident, and several who know her well say they are surprised she let the situation get so out of hand.

“She’s a fun girl who likes to have a good time and let loose every now and then,” says another source. “What’s shocking is she didn’t rein it in enough to keep herself out of trouble. It was a really bad decision on both their parts and trust me, they’re evaluating that and they will make damn sure it doesn’t happen again.”

As for Toth, 42, the high-powered CAA talent agent is widely known as “a big social drinker,” as an insider tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

But the couple, who are parents to 7-month-old son Tennessee, “are seen as very solid,” says an industry insider. “They’re very well-liked.”

On Wednesday, Witherspoon sipped water with her salad at a business lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, while Toth returned to work at CAA. The pair are due to appear in court on May 22 in Atlanta, where a typical plea deal in a DUI case such as Toth’s would involve fines, 40 hours of community service and 12 months of probation, says Ben Alper, an Atlanta criminal defense attorney who is not affiliated with the case.

Witherspoon, who has wrapped the Atlanta portion of The Good Lie, would most likely face community service and a small fine, says Alper. She has already issued an apology, admitting, “I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said” to officers.

[From People]

I didn’t even think of what kind of punishment would be handed down in Georgia. I’m so used to California Justice, also known as “Fun Times Party #YOLO” where you can drive drunk and smash into babies and the judge will give you a friendly pat on the firecrotch for your trouble. Georgia is a lot different. There will be some consequences. Admittedly, they won’t involve jail, but it will be interesting to see what happens there.

I like how the “sources” are framing and re-framing the issue. Reese is just a good girl! She just got a little bit drunk! She’s so embarrassed! She won’t ever mess up again! She’s such a good mom! You know what I wonder? I wonder what Ryan Phillippe told Deacon and Ava about their mom’s arrest. And what I’m getting from the People Mag article is that Tennessee James was in Georgia with his parents and they still went out drinkin’ and drivin’ and hollerin’ at cops. Interesting.

As for the tabloids… let’s see. Star Magazine’s sources say Ryan was the one to explain everything to Ava and that he assured her that “mommy will be fine.” Their sources also say that Reese initially thought Jim’s drinking was cute, but she’s grown irritated by his three-martini lunches. And when Reese drinks, “she’s an angry drunk… she’s very nasty and uptight – not very sweet at all.” The Enquirer has a story about Reese boozin’ it up because her parents’ divorce situation is full of drama, but that story bored me.

Here are some photos of Jim Toth on Wednesday in LA:

Reese Witherspoon partied with Chelsea Handler & Cameron Diaz post-arrest

I have a real question for all of you: is it possible this Reese Witherspoon situation is ripe for a conspiracy theory? So many of us love a good conspiracy theory, and it seems like we should at least briefly entertain the possibility that Reese’s drunk-redneck-bitch act is just that: an act. But for what purpose, to what end? Could it be that “America’s Sweetheart” Reese wants to dirty up her image so that she’ll be in contention for different kinds of roles? She can’t just play an endless stream of ditzy blondes in romantic comedies, you know. So maybe she’s trying to dirty up her image. I’m not saying I believe that or anything, but it’s as legitimate a theory as some of the Twihard stuff, you know? Anyway, I was just thinking about that while I read this story of how Reese spent the days post-arrest: by hanging out with Chelsea Handler and Cameron Diaz, best known as The Drunk Bitches.

Reese Witherspoon needs her friends’ support more than ever. Two days after the actress was arrested for disorderly conduct in Atlanta, the Academy Award winner and her husband Jim Toth joined their A-list pals for drinks at New York City’s Greenwich Hotel Apr. 21. (Toth was also arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated; he took a field sobriety test and blew a .139, more than 17 times the legal limit.)

After briefly attending the Cinema Society screening of Mud (where she declined interviews), Witherspoon, 37, and Toth, 42, met up with Chelsea Handler, Cameron Diaz, Michael Keaton, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann at the Greenwich Hotel, a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “Nobody was drunk — it was pretty tame,” a source says of the group, who sipped on San Pellegrino instead. “They all seemed really happy. There was no indication that there was anything wrong.”

Witherspoon and Toth “were cuddling” and looked “cute,” the source adds.

Later that evening, Witherspoon (via her rep) apologized for her behavior in Atlanta. “Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,” she told Us Weekly in a statement. “It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”

[From Us Weekly]

Yes, because if Cameron Diaz and Chelsea Handler are known for anything, it’s contemplative, quiet sobriety. I’m surprised some “eyewitness” didn’t notice that some members of the party kept sneaking off to the lady’s room and came out sniffling. I’m just saying, if Reese was truly upset by her newly banged-up “drunk redneck” image, she really shouldn’t be hanging out with Camy and Jennifer Aniston’s drunk attack dog. That’s not very sweetheart-y. But maybe that’s the point? See? Conspiracy theory.

Meanwhile, People Magazine got an “exclusive” from some unnamed source close to Reese’s husband Jim Toth. According to the source (who is probably just Toth), he “feels awful that he involved Reese in the situation… He made a bad decision and it certainly made things worse that he dragged her into it.” Jim apparently “gets” that he has to “pay the consequences”. His job as a CAA agent is being blamed for his sloppy-drunk ways, with the source claiming: “Jim has always been a big social drinker. A lot of his job is being social. He’s out to lunch or dinner almost every day of the week, schmoozing clients and taking business meetings. [The arrest is] just going to make the two of them stop and pause, and think about maybe how much Jim’s drinking plays a role in their lives – if it does or not.” Another source says that if Jim ends up going to rehab, “no one would be surprised.” That is interesting.

Reese Witherspoon arrested for disorderly conduct, Jim Toth arrested for DUI

Ooooh, scandal!! I love it. Reese Witherspoon, your judgy Southern BFF, got arrested!!!! Reese has been in Atlanta, Georgia this month, working on her new film The Good Lie. This is why she’s brunette, by the way – she dyed her hair for the film. Anyway, it seems that Reese brought her family down to Georgia while she’s working. And on Thursday night, Reese and her husband Jim Toth went out drinkin’. And Jim tried to drive them home and he got pulled over under suspicion of a DUI. But Reese was also arrested for disorderly conduct and you can see her mugshot here. Wait until you hear WHY!!

Reese Witherspoon and her husband, CAA agent James Toth, were arrested and briefly jailed early Friday morning in Atlanta, Ga., after he was pulled over under suspicion of driving while intoxicated, confirmed an official at the city’s Dept. of Corrections.

While Toth is facing a DUI charge after driving in the wrong lane, Witherspoon was also arrested on a disorderly conduct charge according to a police report obtained by Variety. She was handcuffed after disobeying repeated instruction from the arresting officer, with whom she verbally sparred, to stay inside the vehicle.

The couple was released on bond at approximately 3:30 a.m. ET on Friday. CAA, which employs Toth and represents Witherspoon, and her publicist, Meredith O’Sullivan Wasson, declined comment.

A court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 8 a.m. in Atlanta Municipal Court, but Witherspoon and Toth aren’t expected to appear, according to sources. Their attorney is expected to request that court date be postponed. Witherspoon, 37, was with Toth, 42, in Atlanta shooting indie drama “The Good Lie.” Production on the film was not interrupted by the arrests, according to sources.

Witherspoon has been married to Toth since March 2011. The couple had a son, Tennessee James Toth, last September.

Toth was pulled over after midnight Friday driving a silver 2013 Ford Focus, which the officer witnessed weaving across a double line on Atlanta’s Peachtree St. Toth appeared disheveled and his breath smelled of alcohol, according to the police report, prompting the officer to administer a sobriety test. As Toth walked in the Walgreens parking lot where the officer instructed him to pull over to, Witherspoon became increasingly agitated from the vehicle, which prompted the officer to warn her to stay in the car for the sake of her own safety.

“Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer,” according to the police report. “I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet.”

Once Toth was placed under arrest, Witherspoon exited the vehicle and was instructed to get back in the car. According to the report, she “stated that she was a ‘US citizen’ and that she was allowed to ‘stand on American ground.’”

The officer then detailed how she resisted as he grabbed her arms to arrest as Toth attempted to calm her down.

As the report details, “Mrs. Witherspoon asked, “Do you know my name?” I answered, “No, I don’t need to know your name.” I then added, “right now.” Mrs. Witherspoon stated, “You’re about to find out who I am.”

The report also specified, “Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, ‘You are going to be on national news.’ I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine.”

Though he told an officer he had only a single drink hours earlier, Toth blew a .139 on a Breathalyzer test administered at the scene. He also is facing a second charge for failure to maintain a lane while driving.

Witherspoon’s alleged violation, which is specified on the police report as “disorderly conduct (obstruction),” is a local municipal ordinance.

[From Variety]

Dude! A blood alcohol level of .139 is INTENSE. There’s no way Jim only had ONE drink unless that drink was a Moonshine Big Gulp. And how funny/awful is it that Reese pulled the “don’t you know who I am?” card? I LOVE IT. Drunk Southern bitch. God bless us, everyone!! Obviously, drinking and driving is awful and Jim Toth should be ashamed of himself and there is no excuse for not hiring a car and driver or just calling a cab. But aside from the DUI stuff, I just love that Reese is a trash-talking drunk bitch at heart. She always tries to come across as SO classy and now this! Apparently, when she was arrested, the cop totally handcuffed her. Anyway, they were realized on bond just a few hours later and they’re due in court today.

Reese did release a statement late Sunday, and she attended last night’s premiere of Mud (photos below). Her statement: “Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.” Yeah.

Reese Witherspoon isn’t on a “new mom” diet, eats hot dog in public: awesome?

Reese Witherspoon

Upon first glancing these photos, I was almost mortified on Reese Witherspoon’s behalf because the images were captioned “Reese crushes a hot dog.” Then I realized how awesome these photos really are. As most people who read this site are aware, Reese only gave birth to her third child, the questionably named Tennessee James Toth, about a month ago. Oddly enough, Reese is not preening about in skinny jeans but is merely enjoying true picnic food in a casual setting. I know that, like every other Hollywood player, Reese has her own image in mind and probably has her own “game” too, but she just seems so damn normal and like a regular mom who is probably nursing and hoping to hit the gym at some point but hasn’t gotten there just yet.

While Reese looks really great here, it’s clear that she’s not on a mission to appear in some lame, post-baby bikini photoshoot in record time. Instead, she’s hanging with her family (specifically in this instance, her husband Jim Toth) and taking her time in losing weight, which will allow her more time to enjoy her newest child’s first days on planet Earth. Here, she’s shown at Brentwood School Carnival enjoying her lunch — a hot dog! The horror, the horror.

Reese Witherspoon

I’ve always admired Reese’s attitude to health and fitness. She’s a jogger, but she doesn’t overdo it, and she presumably enjoys eating on a regular basis. I’d love to characterize her figure as “real,” but that would probably earn me some tsk-ing from those few people who are lucky enough to be naturally thin. What I’m saying is this — Reese obviously accepts her body and indulges within moderation. She generally looks pretty fit, but she also accepts that getting back into shape after pregnancy is a slow process for most women, and she’s not willing to starve herself to get there faster. Damn, I’d love a hot dog too, but I haven’t purposely eaten meat for nearly 18 years; the last time I accidentally ate some hidden bacon in a dish, my body literally rejected it. So I envy Reese and this hot dog, and anyone who says she shouldn’t be “crushing” a hot dog can just suck it. Ahem.

Reese Witherspoon

Calista Flockhart was also in attendance at the carnival. She was, uhhhh, not eating a hot dog.

Reese Witherspoon is already plotting her post-baby career comeback

These are photos of Reese Witherspoon yesterday, in LA, showing off her little 3-month baby bump. She got pap’d shortly after Us Weekly released this week’s cover story, all about her pregnancy. It was later confirmed by People Magazine, who only got a confirmation from a “friend” not Reese’s rep. It still means that Reese is pregnant, but it also means that she’s playing some kind of PR game. And now that I’ve gotten a chance to read Us Weekly’s full cover story, I think I know what that game is. It’s along the lines of “My movies are bombing so I’m going to take some ‘time off’ and pretend that the time off is my choice, not that I’m doing crappy movies (and no one wants me for good movies), and after the baby I’ll have a big career COMEBACK!” Something like that:

A friend tells Us Weekly, “Reese and Jim were trying to get pregnant. This wasn’t a surprise… her kids are at an age where they are busy with friends and lives of their own… it will be nice for her to be able to do it all over again with her new husband.”

Jim Toth “really wanted a baby,” the friend says. “Before Jim met Reese, he wasn’t sure about having kids. Being around her kids has really shown him what it’s all about.”

A source calls Reese and Jim refreshingly normal: “They’re not a ‘movie star’ couple… Reese makes Jim and the kids a priority. They’re together a lot… Reese doesn’t like to travel for too long and be away.”

As for Reese’s relationship with Ryan Phillippe, a source says the three adults avoid drama. “They’re amicable,” says a Witherspoon pal. “Reese and Ryan have a great system. One week the kids stay with Reese and Jim; the next, they’re with Ryan.”

Reese has slowly started to spread her baby news to her inner circle, but for the most part, mum’s the word. “She not telling a lot of people, just close friends and family,” says a source. “She wants to have this child and take some time off.”

The time is right to take a break, considering her last three films – This Means Way, Water for Elephants, and How Do You Know – were box-office disappointments.

“She’s not getting great offers…she wants to relaunch her career completely and have Jim handle it.”

[From Us Weekly, print edition]

That’s very interesting, isn’t it? That Us Weekly story was epic, by the way. I only culled the most interesting quotes. First, “She not telling a lot of people, just close friends and family…AND US WEEKLY.” Because after reading that story, I know for sure that Reese and her team had a hand in it, which means that Reese and her team sold the story to Us Weekly under the auspices of “Make Reese look like such a down-home mother!” Also, I’m fascinated that Reese wants her husband to manage her post-baby career. That could either be the best thing that happens to her, or it will destroy their marriage (and her career). It all depends on whether Jim treats Reese like his wife, his equal partner, or if he treats like a temperamental actress in need of coddling. How do you separate those two issues if you’re Jim Toth?

PS… I’m in love with her boots. I want to have a relationship with those boots.

Reese Witherspoon’s wedding photos in People: tacky or romantic?

people_reesesdreamday
Back when we reported the news that Reese’s wedding was about to happen, I said I would love to see some photos. Given how private Reese is, I expected her to release a single posed wedding photo, probably through the Associated Press, and to be done with it. Reese has a whole photo spread coming out in this week’s People, though, and they just put the cover online. This confuses me for several reasons. First of all, it’s Monday and we usually don’t see the magazine covers until Wednesday. (Kaiser reminds me that they did that last week with Elizabeth Taylor’s memorial issue.) Also, it doesn’t seem like Reese at all! This is a move that “stars” like Carrie Underwood and Hilary Duff make. This isn’t something that an A-lister like Reese needs to make public. Did she get a payday for this photo spread and is she going to donate the money to charity? She doesn’t have to or anything, I just don’t get it!

Reese Witherspoon’s country-elegant March 26 wedding to Pennsylvania native Jim Toth, 40, mixed her Southern roots with inspiration from her 1920s ranch estate.

“Timeless California architecture, rustic materials and beautiful gardens,” says a pal, gave the actress the perfect storybook setting for her special day in Ojai, Calif.

Wearing a custom-designed Monique Lhuillier blush-hued gown with a Chantilly lace corset bodice and full tulle A-line skirt, Witherspoon, 35, “wowed,” says a guest. “She took your breath away.” The gown was adorned with a double-face silk satin ribbon with cascading silk flowers, which matched the dress of Witherspoon’s daughter Ava, 11, who served as maid of honor in her own custom Lhuillier.

The bride changed into a second Lhuillier design – a white silk minidress with a party skirt – for the reception.

“There was a real family feel,” a guest tells PEOPLE. “There was so much joy in the room and a lot of laughter,” adds another.

For exclusive photos of Reese’s wedding – and all the details of her emotional, joyful ceremony – pick up the new issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Monday!

[From People]

There are more details of Reese’s semi-rustic kind of country-themed outdoor wedding in this earlier story. I’ll buy this issue tonight if I can find it in stores. I’m really looking forward to seeing Reese’s wedding photos, and I’m especially interested in the decor and feel of the reception. Still, I’m kind of shocked that she went this route. Maybe Jim convinced her to do it for her career. He does work for Creative Artists Agency after all.

Reese’s dress is pretty and I love her simple hair and makeup, but why can’t we see her new husband at all? Also, why did she wear a blush gown? Is she so traditional that she feels she doesn’t deserve a white gown for her second wedding? I still really like Reese, but this People cover doesn’t seem like her to me, nor does the fact that she’s been hanging out with Chelsea Handler. Congratulations though, and she’s definitely pleasing a lot of fans. Reese is currently promoting Water For Elephants, out April 22, and this ties in nicely with that. Kaiser reminds me that Reese’s last movie bombed (remember How Do You Know? That was all she put out last year) and that could also be motivating her to go public with her wedding photos.

Here’s Reese out shopping on 3/24. This was before she got married. Credit: WENN.com

Reese Witherspoon married Jim Toth on her ranch in Ojai on Saturday

fp_5712439_witherspoon_reese_fpp_00_15

Well, we knew it was happening this weekend, but what’s surprising is how many really specific details were leaked. Reese Witherspoon wed her CAA-agent fiancé Jim Toth yesterday in California, on her Ojai ranch. The wedding date “somehow” got leaked a few weeks ago, and now both Us Weekly and People Magazine have, like, intimate details of everything. Here’s Us Weekly’s take:

Hello there, Mr. and Mrs. Toth! Reese Witherspoon married Jim Toth early Saturday evening at her 6-acre ranch in Ojai, Calif., UsMagazine.com has confirmed.

Wearing a custom-designed Monique Lhuillier gown, the actress, 35, exchanged vows with CAA agent Toth, 40, in front of 120 family members and friends (including Renee Zellweger, and Alyssa Milano, and Tobey Maguire) in the front courtyard of the Ojai house.

Witherspoon’s best friend, Heather Rosenfield, served as matron of honor, and her kids with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe — daughter Ava, 11, and son Deacon, 7 — took part in the ceremony. The Oscar winner’s young nieces served as flower girls.

The “Tennessee Waltz” was the processional music for Toth and the kids, while Witherspoon walked down the aisle to “Here Comes the Bride.” The 20-minute ceremony was officiated by Reverend Jimmy Bartz, founder of Thad’s church in Santa Monica, where the couple have been attending weekly Sunday services. The duo exchanged wedding bands designed by jeweler William Goldberg.

Located 90 miles north of Los Angeles, the Ojai ranch — where the star gardens and keeps horses, donkeys, pigs, goats and chickens — has been Witherspoon’s rural escape for years.

It’s the second wedding for the actress, who divorced Phillippe, 36, back in 2007 after seven years of marriage. Shortly after ending a three-year relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, she and never-married Toth began dating in January 2010. (Although A-list firm CAA also counts Witherspoon as a client, Toth has never represented her.)

The star’s rep confirmed their engagement to Us on Dec. 28, 2010. “They are extremely happy,” the rep said.

About a week later, Witherspoon debuted her engagement bling — a 4-carat, $250,000 Ashocka cut diamond ring from William Goldberg — at a Laker’s Game.

Sources close to the newlyweds tell Us they’re the perfect match. Says one pal of Toth, who’s bonded with her kids: “He’s a very confident guy who takes care of her.”

“[Reese] really wants to be married and have that security with someone,” another insider says. “They feel like they’ve hit the jackpot in this relationship!”

People Magazine claims they’ve got the exclusive, and yet they seem to have less details (go here for People‘s coverage). Which I think means that Reese and Jim are trying to get the covers of both mags next week, right? Probably. Anyway, it sounds like a really nice, respectable, quiet wedding service and I think and hope that Reese and Jim make each other happy in the long run. They truly seem like they “fit” and Reese seems happier with Toth than she’s been in a while. Congrats to the couple! I say she’s knocked up within a year. She won’t get pregnant right away, in my opinion, but it will happen by the end of this year, I think.
