Here are some cute photos from the LA premiere of The Runaways. Several things are happening all at once, so here are the basics: Kristen Stewart is not rolling her eyes in every other frame; K-Stew is wearing pink, which is so exciting, although the color is not really her best, I do think she looks cute as a button; Joan Jett and Cherie Currie walked the red carpet too, which is exciting; and little Dakota Fanning is adorable, beautiful, and she and K-Stew seem to have a very genuine friendship, which is so cool.

K-Stew and DakFan have already been out promoting The Runaways, with Kristen taking up most of the promotional duties. I guess because she’s older and she’s more famous? But it seems like DakFan is the one whose getting the best reviews out of this film, so we’ll see. Anyway, while doing press, Kristen was talking about her friendship with DakFan, saying: “Working this closely with someone, you can’t help but really become bonded with them and it really helps when you actually like them and can become really good friends… I haven’t really done a lot of movies with people close to my own age to have a good friend like that. So I was excited, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to do it with.”

Now, The Runaways will feature some girl-on-girl action between DakFan and K-Stew. Kristen told the press yesterday, regarding their on-screen kiss: “It was cool. I didn’t mind it. The way that it happens in the script is so just a sort of moment in time and fun and natural and sort of impulsive.” To which Dakota chimed in: “It was just another thing.” Kristen also told Access Hollywood that because of Dakota’s age (she was 15 when she filmed the movie), Kristen said she “wasn’t allowed to grope her… I’m actually not kidding, there are major restrictions that I don’t remember [from] when I was younger.” Kristen goes on to explain the kiss as “just something that happened in their lives. I don’t want to give anything way. It’s a really passionate, hardcore scene… No, it’s just a kiss. It’s not really a big deal.”

Sidenote: I just realized who Kristen reminds me of in these photos – she looks like Katy Perry, doesn’t she? Ugh.

It seems Joan Jett is concerned that Kristen Stewart might not be up the challenge of playing her. Joan’s official website released a statement as production on The Runaways started, saying in part, “While Joan is not involved with the casting decisions, she is eager to see Kristen’s work and meet with her about the upcoming role.” Translation: “Kristen Stewart is not worthy, but I won’t bad-mouth her until she pisses me off.” Meanwhile, Kristen seems to be diving head-first into playing Joan, even though her new ragged haircut seems to be pissing off the Twihards who demand that Bella should only have long, romantic locks of hair, because that’s the way Robert Pattinson likes it! And the Twihards definitely know what Pattz likes.

It seems Joan has made a few trips to the set to see Kristen and give her some first-hand lessons in Being Joan Jett. Unfortunately, Joan is really hardcore, and she made poor Bella cry. Uh-oh. Now the Twihards are going to come after Joan Jett! Eh, I bet Joan could take them:

Joan Jett is all about tough love.

The rocker gave Kristen Stewart, who plays a young Jett in the upcoming biopic “The Runaways,” a hard time last week, causing the young starlet to burst into tears on set.

Says an insider, “Joan just wants Kristen to play an authentic version of herself, so she needled her a little bit too much. But she apologized when she realized how upset Kristen got.”

At least there’s no bad blood between the two. Says our insider, “They’re like mother and daughter now.”

Better watch out, Joan — mess with Kristen and you’ll have Rob Pattinson to contend with. (LUCKY!)

In other news from the production of The Runaways, Tatum O’Neal (Oscar-winning daughter of Ryan O’Neal) has been cast as Joan Jett’s mother, while Alia Shawkat (of Arrested Development fame) will be playing Robin, “an 18-year-old tall and slender bass player who is the oldest and most feminine of the band, hinting further that the character may have been created in essence of the band’s original Micki Steele.”

I think Kristen was probably the best choice to play Joan because really, who else could they get, Megan Fox? But I wonder at the wisdom of the casting as far as fanbases go. Yes, Kristen is one the hottest actresses around, and I applaud her desire in wanting to try a new, hardcore character. But will her Twihard fanbase stick with her as Bella morphs into Joan? Doubt it.

The new movie based on the cult hit books, Twilight, has made stars out of recently unknown, young actors. Robert Pattinson and his admitted bad hygeine practices are everywhere. Girls who would literally turn their noses up at someone in their high school who bathes as rarely as Pattinson go crazy for him everywhere he goes. Another young actor with new found fame is Kristen Stewart. Stewart plays Bella Swan in Twilight and now she’s been tapped to play another cult hero, of another genre.

Fresh from the box-office success of “Twilight,” Kristen Stewart is set to portray Joan Jett in “The Runaways,” the rock ‘n’ roll biopic of the 1970s all-girl band.

The Runaways were hugely influential as the first commercially successful all-girl hard rock band; their members included guitarists Jett and Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer-keyboardist Cherie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox.

The film will revolve around Jett and Currie and follow them from the band’s meteoric rise as teenagers to their dissolution and disillusionment.

Video director Floria Sigismondi wrote the screenplay and is directing. Jett will serve as an executive producer.

The Runaways were groundbreaking for women in rock. The band was set up much the same as the Spice Girls, but dissimilarly were far more talented than anyone anticipated. Joan Jett and Lita Ford later became hard rock female icons and it was all because Kim Fowler thought the gimmick of teenage rock chicks in leather and lace would make some bank. I don’t think anyone expected the young musicians to be so talented.

Joan Jett is a rock goddess. What a plumb role Stewart landed. I saw Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in concert in the 80s and then again a couple years ago, and she’s just as amazing now as she was then. My feet were killing me from the day of wandering around the county fair, but you couldn’t keep me in my seat during that concert!

The Runaways is set to start filming in 2009, but they have to work around Stewart’s two Twilight sequels film schedules. The first sequel, New Moon, is also shooting the first part of ’09, so Kristen’s going to be a busy little lady.

Carmen Electra said she had a crush on singer Joan Jett when she was a girl, and now recently-single Carmen had the opportunity to make her childhood dreams come true. The unlikely pair was said to be all over each other backstage at a concert:

Carmen Electra, and rocker Joan Jett were getting hot and heavy, and they certainly were not trying to hide it. After Joan performed at the Music Box, the two were spotted backstage aggressively kissing, hugging, and touching. According to bystanders, the intensity between the pair translated to the real thing; true love may be in the air for this duo. Their relationship began in May when Carmen made an appearance in Joan’s new “A.C.D.C.” video. According to Carmen’s rep, “Carmen was at the concert. She is a really big fan of Joan’s and I guess this was her way of thanking her for the front row seats.” Wow, Carmen’s got some way of showing her gratitude!

That’s hot! Carmen played Joan Jett’s lover in that video and maybe it moved off screen for them. It might have been just a friendly kiss, but it sure doesn’t sound like it.
