Juliette Lewis tries to get it together: cute, bland or tragic?

due_date_arrivals_06_wenn3070687

These are photos from last night’s premiere of Due Date, the Robert Downey Jr. film about a dude whose wife is about to give birth and he’s trying to make it across the country in time to see his baby or something. It’s actually just a premise to make an old-fashioned buddy comedy, with RDJ’s “buddy” played by Zach Galifianakis (who I will be referring to as Zach G. from now on). Anyway, Juliette Lewis is in the movie too…? Yes, she is. And so Juliette decided to wear this for the premiere…now, I don’t hate it, just like I don’t hate Juliette. But I think Juliette is trying too hard to “dress like a grown up” when she is, at heart, the weird punk-goth-rocker girl. So… when I judge her by normal standards, I kind of think she looks like hell. Judging her on her own special standards, she looks good, even great.

Michelle Monahan is in the film too… and she wore this totally bland red dress. She tried to work it, hard. But the whole effect is just “meh” to me.

I thought Zach G. was Phillip Seymour Hoffman for a second. They should play brothers.

Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan both looked great though! Susan was the best dressed, I thought. I also love how RDJ and Susan color-coordinate their outfits. They must have so much fun together!

Jennifer Aniston does a black mini and a tube top for ‘The Switch’ premiere

wenn5527811

Here is Jennifer Aniston at last night’s premiere of The Switch. Maybe it’s not a tube top, but at first glance, I thought it was. It’s some kind of fancy bustier thing in beige (ugh). And then the skirt is a black mini, with an extra dash of fabric on the side. I would have liked to see the skirt as a full dress, you know? It would have been a standard LBD (little black dress), but I’m thinking that might have been better than the beige. One thing you have to give both Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie – they both seem to love the neutrals that wash them out. I’ll also give this to Aniston – she looks like she’s gained a little weight, and it looks really good on her. She looks like she isn’t working out constantly and obsessively, and like she’s actually taking some time to eat some pasta every so often. Of course, her body is still great, I’m not saying that. I’m just applauding her for having some meat on her bones. Although… it could just be the outfit, right? There’s some weird fabric puckering around the waist.

The hair is still flat-ironed though… oh well. Jason Bateman looks good! And did you know that Juliette Lewis is in this film? She plays Aniston’s “kooky” friend. US Weekly recently spoke with Juliette about working with Aniston, and whether it was weird considering they both were with Brad Pitt at one point. Juliette said: “I love her so much. We have a mutual affection, she’s really down-to-earth and a girls’ girl… plus, there’s, you know, that obvious history we share… no, [we didn’t share stories] but I met her ages ago when they were at a restaurant, and he introduced us. For her, being with him was profound, as it was a marriage. For me, it was only like high school relationship. Brad and I were on a journey together at the beginning of our careers. Then he became this sensation in a whole other way. I always knew I’d stay an outsider.” She also talks about being down the Xenu for 22 YEARS. Damn. Anyway, here’s Juliette at the premiere, with her “outsider” blue hair.

Alexander Skarsgard talks gay sex scenes, avoids talking about Kate Bosworth

wenn2820065

The way that Alexander Skarsgard looks in these photos makes me want to forgive him for dating that asshat Kate Bosworth. He looks amazing here, doesn’t he? These are photos from Alex’s appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival, where he was promoting Metropia, a odd-looking “animated dystopian thriller” which Alex did voice work for. People Magazine also scored the strangest red carpet interview with Alexander Skarsgard while he was at the premiere. They got him to talk about a “very graphic sex scene” he just shot with a dude on some film (must find), and his personal dating rules.

Alexander Skarsgard has a simple rule when it comes to dates: Focus on the girl, not the activity.

“I try not to plan it out,” the True Blood star, 33, told PEOPLE on Saturday at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his new movie Metropia in New York. “It has a tendency to get a little stiff and contrived if you work on it too hard. So, I try to be spontaneous.”

But surely a girl will appreciate going to a big event like, say, the Coachella music festival?

“It’s not about what you do, but who you do it with – that’s most important,” says Skarsgard, who has been linked with his Straw Dogs costar Kate Bosworth. “If you are with someone who is awesome and having a good time, you can sit at a bus station and still have fun.”

Not only is Skarsgard spontaneous, he’s also comfortable in his own skin – a good thing, considering the amount of nudity on True Blood. The actor says he doesn’t mind removing his clothes, despite being teased about it occasionally by his five brothers and one sister.

“I’m not a prude at all,” he says. “I shot a very, very graphic scene two days ago with a man. I am from Sweden, and it’s different there. If it makes sense, I’ll just do it. And to me, so far, it’s made sense every single time I’ve got naked or made out on the show.”

One of Skarsgard’s favorite activities when he’s not on the set? Following the Hammarby soccer team from Stockholm, Sweden, where he grew up. “They are not very good but that’s my passion,” he says. “I try to go home a couple of times and go see them play … It’s a big thing for me.”

[From People]

So, is he talking about Kate Bosworth when he says stuff like “If you are with someone who is awesome and having a good time, you can sit at a bus station and still have fun”? Because Kate is not “awesome.” She’s the kind of girl who will call the paparazzi to tell them where she will be with her boyfriend, then put on her bikini and pose her ass off for them. Like this. Ted Casablanca at E! News was making a big deal about what Alex said, saying, “Anyone else noticing Skarsgård neglected to use a single pronoun there? Surely he’s talking about current squeeze Kate Bosworth. Right? So why all of a sudden so shy? The two were everything but sneaky at the Coachella festival the other weekend. Could it be there’s another special someone is Alexander’s life? Or just what we’ve been saying all along, Skarswood isn’t in it for the long haul. But have fun while it lasts, you two!” Eh. I think Alex and Kate are really dating, and that he really thinks she’s “awesome”. And that makes me sad for him. Poor Swede.

By the way, Juliette Lewis did voice work for Metropia too, and she was all over Alex at Tribeca. They totally make a cuter couple than he and The Bos.

Juliette Lewis on ex Brad Pitt: he’s “a fine man” & “total super father”

Central Park SummerStage - Juliette Lewis, Cat Power & The Pretenders
Juliette Lewis has had a few little projects to promote lately, so she’s been doing some media here and there. Of course, interviewers have been asking her about her relationship with Brad Pitt, seeing as how that relationship was his first big media spectacle/relationship. Last month, Juliette told a journalist that she and Brad used to smoke pot all the time when they were going out (shocking), which ended up being the first of many “Brad’s Reefer Madness” stories throughout the month of August.

Now Juliette has given one of those “Five Questions for…” interviews to People Magazine. As you can imagine, no one really cares what Juliette has to say about music (“I’m a disco lover”) or playing tough girls (“it’s really hard for me to be a bully”). The first question Juliette was asked was about Brad, of course. Juliette’s totally nice about it, though:

Juliette Lewis has played a range of roles: From hometown girl in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape opposite Johnny Depp to a brutal serial murder in Natural Born Killers – but she also takes center stage in her own rock band. Now Lewis, 36, is back with new album Terra Incognita, a mix of bluesy, brash and sexy tunes, out Tuesday.

She thinks her ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt is a super dad:
“When I run into him it’s like running into an old comrade,” she says. “Good vibes. He’s grown into a fine man and father. Total super father. It’s pretty impressive. Their family unit is inspiring.” And though she’d love to have babies of her own, she says she needs to find a steady fellow first. “At this point I don’t envision having children by myself.”

She loves extreme fashion
Currently taking inspiration from Tina Turner and David Bowie, Lewis loves to piece together “high-heeled boots, sequined- or jewel-encrusted shoulders on a jacket, or a skirt with boots,” she says. “Things that wouldn’t normally go together. In the beginning it was about wearing a T-shirt over a bikini and knee pads. But I want something that is a little bit more sophisticated these days.”

She avoids TV – because it can be so good!
Recently catching an episode of the Lifetime show Gay, Straight or Taken?, the singer/actress says, “This is why I don’t watch TV, because I would just sit there. I love this show. It’s cute even thought it’s filled with stereotypes.”

She’s obsessed with ‘YMCA’
“I’m a disco lover,” she says. “If I want to feel good that’s my happy place. ‘YMCA’ changed my life. I love it so much that I had my band learn it and we did a bluesy cover of it.”

She’s not as tough as she seems
“I know because of Natural Born Killers people think I’m all scary and stuff, but it’s really hard for me to be a bully.” But, she says, she was “such a bully” for her role in Drew Barrymore’s upcoming directorial debut Whip It. Learning to skate roller derby style was a challenging task, she says. “But we all became bad asses comparing bruises. Drew had one about eight inches long and five inches wide on the hip. I got some hip knots and a scraped chin, but thankfully no busted teeth. Bruises and scrapes are cool; busted teeth, not cool.”

[From People]

This Whip It movie seems so utterly strange – it’s Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut (and she stars) and the plot, according to IMDB is: “In Bodeen, Texas, an indie-rock loving misfit finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.” The cast is mainly female (for which I applaud Drew), and I think Ellen Page is the lead. In addition to Juliette and Drew, the cast included Kristen Wiig, Marcia Gay Harden and Jimmy Fallon. So utterly weird. Just like Juliette.

Orlando Bloom gets fug for new role

fp_1849327_ruffalo_bloom_fp
Heartthrob Orlando Bloom, 32, was photographed yesterday on the LA set of his new film, Sympathy for Delicious, looking larger and much shaggier. The film is directed by Mark Ruffalo, who also stars, and features Laura Linney. IMDB has the plot synopsis as “A newly paralyzed DJ gets more than he bargained for when he seeks out the world of faith healing,” and it’s listed as a Comedy/Drama.

It’s nice to see Mark Ruffalo working again after the shooting death of his brother in early December. Ruffalo dropped out of another recent project after the tragedy. Orlando’s role was originally slated for James Franco, who had to give up the part when filming needed to be delayed.

Bloom will have some competition for the most fug on set – Juliette Lewis is also in the film, although her look is likely to improve once she goes through wardrobe.

Thanks to Fame Pictures for these photos. Laura Linney is shown on set in photos from Splash News

Juliette Lewis says Brad Pitt is poorly endowed

Juliette Lewis’ career hasn’t really taken off since she dated Brad Pitt in the early 90s. She’s appeared in minor roles in several comedies and has worked steadily, but doesn’t have any television or film roles out this year. That may be because she’s busy with her music career. She’s had success as the lead singer for the punk band “Juliette and The Licks,” and is known for her half-dressed wild stage antics.

Juliette was out a bar recently when she dropped hints that Brad Pitt’s manhood is nothing to write home about. She said he wasn’t a big, emphasis on big, deal in the sack:

After playing a rockin’ set with her band at club Chop Suey in Seattle… Juliette Lewis – who was hot ‘n heavy with hunky Brad Pitt back in the Stoned Age – was mingling at the bar when a wiseguy fan blurted: “Hey, Juliette, how was Brad Pitt in the sack anyway?” Stunned for a second, she flashed a mischievous grin and purred: “He was no… BIG deal, if ya know what I mean!” As Juliette turned to head back on stage, the guy yelled: “Are you saying Brad was the PITTS?” Juliette started laughing so hysterically she banged into a table and sent everyone’s drinks flying – but quickly ordered a round on her and hopped back onstage, still giggling.

[From The National Enquirer, Mike Walker's column, print edition, December 17, 2007]

I bet Brad is probably average. He’s 5’11″ tall and although I couldn’t find his shoe size, George Clooney joked that his feet were small when they were immortalized in cement in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

So who’s got the bigger feet, Pitt or Clooney?

“He’s got very small feet,” said Clooney, in mock seriousness. “I don’t want that out, ’cause you know how those rumors can start.”

[From Showbuzz.cbsnews.com]

I might be on the wrong track in trying to judge Pitt’s manhood by his height and foot size. Menshealth on About.com says you can’t judge penis size by the size of a man’s hands or feet, but they don’t elaborate. Here’s a scientific study from 2002 (link is to PDF File) that found no relation between foot size and penile length among 104 men studied. So is Brad Pitt poorly endowed? We only have Juliette Lewis’ word for it.

Juliette is shown performing with The Licks on 11/17/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Jennifer Garner at the Catch and Release premiere

Jennifer Garner posed with everyone except her husband, Ben Affleck, at the LA premiere of her new movie, Catch and Release, last night. She was seen with co-starts wacky Juliette Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, producer JJ Abrams, and Victor Garber.

People diss Garner for supposedly not being drop dead gorgeous, and some say she has a “man face” and call her mean names, but she’s easily my favorite celebrity. She’s nice without being fake or cloying, and she seems like a genuinely kind, happy person. I also think she’s quite pretty and doesn’t look like she had a lot of work done. Her Golden Globes dress didn’t fit her thin frame perfectly, but it wasn’t fugly or anything. This dress isn’t doing her any favors, either, and in one of these pics with Victor Garber she seems to notice that it’s falling down.

I don’t know why people have a problem with her. The most scandalous thing about her is that she was divorced from her first husband, I guess, and some find that boring. Give me boring mom Garner over the teenage-acting trainwrecks any day.

Catch and Release is the story of woman rebuilding her life after her husband dies and finding herself with the help of her friends. It is out in theaters on January 26.

Here’s the trailer. It looks cheesy but I think I would like it.

Scientology impairs reasoning skills

Cults trap members into what cult expert Margaret Singer called a “closed system of logic” where only pro-cult rhetoric is permitted. Cults seek to impair and dismiss personal reasoning skills so that members can’t think themselves out of the situation.

Case in point: Juliette Lewis, 32, and Kirstie Alley, 55, long term members of the cult of Scientology. Lewis, appearing with her band Juliette and the Licks at the SXSW music festival in Austin on 3/17, wore a skin tight lemon-yellow body suit with criss cross metal buttons. Alley fared slightly better while also wearing a skin tight outfit at Celebrity Fight Night 12. Alley donned a fitted lingerie slip with a lacey flared bolero jacket.

Whether these two could benefit from the psychiatric drugs forbidden by their cult is up to debate. We think they might dress better if they were simply able to think for themselves.
