MTV’s Josh Horowitz is an affable guy who is pretty skilled at putting celebrities at ease and getting them to answer personal questions. He got Angelina Jolie to talk about rolling around on the floor with Brad Pitt and had Johnny Depp admitting that he quit smoking. Kate Hudson wasn’t that receptive to Horowitz’s attempt at humor, though. He tried to show the actress a photo of her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, as a centaur and asked her if the rumors that Alex had a picture of himself as a centaur over his bed were true. Kate laughed nervously at first and then got offended and refused to answer the question. A-Rod totally has a centaur portrait or Kate would have said something simple like “no,” instead she got a little snotty about it.

When an MTV News reporter showed the actress a mock-up of her Yankees boyfriend as half-man, half-horse, the actress blushed and laughed — but refused to confirm or deny Us Weekly’s reports that such a painting exists in Rodriguez’s bedroom.

“What is that?” she said of the mythological image “That’s horrible.”

When the reporter asked Hudson, 30, to clarify the story, she deflected. “That is the craziest thing anyone has ever asked me,” she said.

“I don’t indulge in those types of stories,” she continued quietly, “As humorous as you might think they are.”

A former fling of Rodriguez recently insisted to Us Weekly that Rodriguez actually had two centaur paintings created with his likeness. “He was so vain . . . It was ridiculous,” the ex told Us.

Kate had a similar response last summer when the ladies on The View asked her about then-boyfriend, Lance Armstrong. At first she started laughing and then she said “I try not to talk about my personal life.”

Things are going much better for Kate in her latest romance than in her high-profile summer fling with Lance. Her boyfriend’s team just won the World Series and by most accounts he’s very serious about her. Fox 411 has a report with quotes from an insider saying that Alex is so into Kate that he “hardly looks at other women,” and even avoided talking to cheerleaders at a party. The source goes on to say that Alex “has decided to drastically avoid most contact with women that could get him in trouble.” I guess that’s worth overlooking some ridiculous centaur portraits, even if they are rather embarrassing.

Just think, it all started out as a pleasant little summer romance. It wasn’t supposed to go anywhere. And yet, here we are, still talking about Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez. Their relationship started in late spring of this year, and it’s lasted until the fall. Good for them. Seriously. The rumors about Kate and Alex have been mixed – everything from “they’re moving in together and getting married” to “everybody hates them together”. I tend to think Kate is probably following her standard operating procedure in this relationship – she moves in really fast, gets serious and loved up in a matter of weeks, and spends the rest of the relationship, however long, eating the guy’s soul. I mean that in a good way.

I’ve been reading bits and pieces of this latest “Kate Hudson is knocked up” rumor for several weeks. I think it’s because Kate wears loose, hippie clothes that make her look bumptastic (pictures here and here), and because when Kate gains weight, it tends to go to her stomach. I don’t think it’s a baby bump. I think it’s Yankee Stadium’s hot dogs and beer.

When I’m reading about Kate Hudson’s dating habits and how she always rushes into commitment, and introducing her son Ryder to her whichever new boyfriend, I always wonder what Ryder’s dad thinks about all of this. Kate and husband Chris Robinson split back in 2006, and there were rumors at the time that she had basically left Chris for Owen Wilson, her costar in You, Me and Dupree. Of course, there were always rumors that Chris liked the groupies while the Black Crows were on tour, so it seems both of them might have had issues with fidelity. No matter what really happened between while they were married, they’ve always seemed to have a really great relationship as a divorced, co-parenting couple. Chris seemed to publicly support whatever Kate wanted, and they were even spotted kissing two years after their split.

I’ve gone into this little gossip history lesson, because I think Chris has done something that will send Kate Hudson into a minor tailspin. Chris has gotten his girlfriend pregnant! Chris’s rep confirms that the baby is due in “early 2010”:

Our spy caught the bubbly blond proudly sporting the ring while typing away on her BlackBerry when her slugger wasn’t up. Either A-Rod is making it official, or Ms. Hudson made some very careless jewelry choices! Neither a rep for Hudson nor Rodriguez returned calls for comment.

Yeah, I seriously doubt Alex Rodriguez wants to marry Kate, but he probably doesn’t mind an engagement rumor here and there, just to make her feel better. Am I the only one who find this engagement ring story a little suspicious? I think that Kate is probably happy for Chris, but it probably threw her for a loop to acknowledge that Chris isn’t waiting around for her. It’s like therapy through the tabloids.

I hate it when celebrity gossip and sports collide. This is because I always feel like an idiot trying to make even a passing reference to anything sports-related. It seems A-Rod and Jeter have some kind of rivalry going on, which may be the cause of the coldness between Kate and Minka. According to a source, the girlfriend-rivalry is making people “choose sides”.

SHE made it past third base with Alex Rodriguez, but Kate Hudson isn’t getting a warm reception at the plate from Minka Kelly, longtime squeeze of Yankee captain Derek Jeter.

At home games in The Bronx, things between the two photogenic actresses are frostier than the new stadium’s $9 beer, according to spies.

“There’s been visible coldness between Minka and Kate,” an insider told The Post’s Lachlan Cartwright. “I don’t know if it’s a personal thing, or just an extension of the ongoing A-Rod-Jeter rivalry.”

Our source added, “People are choosing sides.”

“Friday Night Lights” hottie Kelly has been dating Jeter since last year. Since then, she’s usually cheered him on from his private seats, kept a low profile and has rarely been photographed with him.

Then, high-profile Hudson arrived on the scene. She’s been snapped smooching A-Rod in the stands, and recently switched from sitting in a private box to hanging in the family seats, cheering on the team with Yankee wives including Amber Sabathia and Karen Burnett.

Hudson, who also enthusiastically attended the Bombers’ family picnic, seems to have gotten an early thumbs-up from veteran Yankee wives Michelle Damon and Laura Posada, whose stamp of approval is crucial, a source said.

Reps for Hudson and Kelly didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Kevin Spence, who ranks player wives and girlfriends on WAGrankings.com, noted: “It would be the best reality show ever if they would allow a camera to follow them around. I think tensions and jealousy will grow in time.”

I had to look up Minka Kelly to make sure she was the girl I was thinking of. She wasn’t. Minka gives off a Leighton Meester vibe to me, does anyone else see it? She’s attended games with her mother, Goldie Hawn and stepfather, Kurt Russell, so it’s safe to assume that A-Rod has met Kate’s family. She’s also been seen posing happily in the player’s wives’ section. According to In Touch, Kate is so serious about Rodriguez that she’s pressuring him to have a baby. Kate has son Ryder, 5, from her marriage to Chris Robinson and Alex has two children: Natasha, 4, and Ella, 16 months, with his ex-wife Cynthia. This story comes from In Touch, so it’s just as likely to be wishful thinking on their part. I could see Kate asking for kids, though. She moves fast and they’ve been together three months already.

Kate seems so kind to me, but just totally clueless when it comes to guys. It’s like she’s needs her friends to tell her to play hard to get. If this is true, and that’s a big if, I would tell her to skip a few games, go out on the town with friends, and spend some time at home – not calling A-Rod. Let the guy have his freedom and come back when he’s ready. Rodriguez is only 34 and he’s just coming out of a divorce. By most accounts the guy was a big player both when he was married and in the wake of his separation. You don’t pin those kind of guys down by pressuring them to have kids and being available all the time.

Whatever Kate’s doing, Yankee fans credit her with improving A-Rod’s game. Kate and Alex were photographed kissing in late July at a Yankees picnic. The NY Daily News reports that since that incident A-Rod’s batting average has improved 25 points. I have no idea if that’s a large amount or not, but from the big deal they’re making out of it, it sounds like it is.

The Yankee slugger’s latest girlfriend, movie star cutie Kate Hudson, loves to cheer him on from the stands – and he’s been on top of his game ever since they went public.

His batting average since their first public smooch on July 25 is running almost 25 points higher than his season average. And he’s socked two homers in the last three games – including a two-run blast that ended the marathon Friday night/Saturday morning game against the Red Sox.

The bubbly blond Hudson, 30, has been rooting for Alex Rodriguez all summer, laughing and waving from a front row seat at Yankee Stadium.

The News caught up with Hudson last night at Los Dados restaurant in the Meatpacking District and she declined comment – but smiled – when asked if she’s helped A-Rod’s game.

The two made their relationship official at the team’s family picnic day, cuddling and smooching for the cameras. Ever since, he’s been batting .283 – hitting two homers over the weekend and striking out less. He was 1 for 3 in last night’s game and his season average is .259.

Rodriguez, 33, told reporters Saturday he feels much “freer” and “liberated” this season, after admitting in February to using steroids in the past.

Over the weekend, Hudson brought mom Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell to root for her new boyfriend. Meeting the parents is a nice-guy turn for A-Rod, who was linked to Madonna and a Vegas stripper before divorcing his wife Cynthia last year.

Hudson also went with the Yankees on their last two road trips, cheering on her man in Tampa Bay and Toronto.

I love that guy’s quote, “It’s making up for all of her terrible movies.” Most of Hudson’s films are chick flicks and that guy was probably subjected to a few. Sports fans are so superstitious, aren’t they? If the love of a good woman is working for Alex, good for him. I would still tell Kate to back up and start thinking with her head instead of her heart for a little while.

This story really cracks me up, and I’ve sort of been there before. Kate Hudson’s “friend,” who is probably her assistant, usually drives her out in her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez’s car in the mornings to get coffee. The two were involved in an accident yesterday in which Rodriguez’s suburban sustained a huge dent across the back from a collision with another car. It’s hard to tell who was at fault from looking at the damage, but since the car is wrecked in the back, they were probably rear-ended and it may not be their fault. According to Radar Online, the women quietly pulled the car back in and didn’t tell A-Rod about the accident at all, leaving it for him to discover when he went out. Whether they told him or not, the photos show that he was clearly furious and was yelling at Kate’s friend for the accident.

Love hurts. Or in the case of Alex Rodiguez [sic] and Kate Hudson, it can really put a dent in things. Heading out of his Manhattan apartment to prepare for a game on Wednesday, the slugger got an unexpected surprise when his car pulled up with a big dent in it from the morning. Little did he know his current lady friend Kate Hudson was at the scene of the accident!

“Kate Hudson’s girlfriend, the one she is seen with at Yankee games, has been driving his Suburban with Kate every morning, bright and early, to get coffee,” a source tells RadarOnline.com. As the two women were pulling out of the garage, they hit another car! Hudson and the pal quickly re-parked and headed back upstairs.

Apparently, they forgot to tell Rodriguez about the incident. “A short time later the friend pulled around the car for Alex,” the source continued. “As soon as he saw the rear of the vehicle and the damage done, he had her get out of the car and started talking about her reckless driving.”

“He was visibly upset. The crash was so bad the license plate was obscured. He was ranting and raving while she stood their sheepishly.”

I once scratched my husband’s car on the side and caused some very minor damage. There wasn’t a dent at all, but he was very concerned about it while I of course tried to minimize the issue, saying “it’s not that bad,” etc. A-Rod is a multi-millionaire but he still gets understandably annoyed when his car is wrecked, and he’ll probably have some inconvenience to deal with while it’s fixed. He lives in Manhattan, though, and he can easily make due with drivers and cabs until the car is repaired. He could alternately get a rental. Will this sour Kate and A-Rod’s new romance? Could this car accident be the turning point in their new relationship? I doubt it, but if the guy was this upset it’s got to be a reality check to the coursing endorphins of new love.

Sometimes, when I’m reading a story about a celebrity couple that spends a lot of money on each other, buying each other extremely lavish gifts, I think to myself “Soulless consumerism meets celebrity oligarchy, end times are near.” Other times, I really enjoy hearing about the gifts. It really depends on the couple. With a couple like Posh and Becks, or even Oprah, I tend to roll my eyes. When it’s someone like Denzel Washington, I go “aw… sweet.”

So imagine my surprise when I read this In Touch report on how Alex Rodriguez is dropping major cash on Kate Hudson and her son – I didn’t roll my eyes. I actually found it a little sweet. A-Rod apparently treats Kate like a queen, buying her lavish gifts and letting her use his plane whenever she wants. He also gets gifts for her son Ryder. Now, I don’t think Kate and Alex are going to last or anything, and yes, she’s probably screwing up her son by letting him get attached to these guys, but I still like this story. Mainly because I don’t think Kate is very materialistic (she really does seem like a hippie), so it must be nice for her to experience a guy who actually wants to spoil her a little:

They’ve only been dating for a few months, but Alex Rodriguez is already spoiling Kate Hudson. According to an insider, Alex recently bought her an 18-karat gold Cartier Roadster watch, and gave her unlimited access to his private jet.

A-Rod has also been lavishing gifts on Kate’s son, Ryder – in addition to a VIP tour of Yankee Stadium, he got the 5-year-old a mini-motorized bike.

The two were even seen shopping up a storm together at Barneys in LA on July 12.

“Kate’s never had a guy spend so much money on her so soon,” her pal explains. “She’s very impressed with Alex’s generosity. But she also thinks he is a very nice guy. She is really falling for him.”

Is Kate falling for Alex? They’ve been dating for a couple of months now, so I guess they’re still in the heat of it. When the heat dies, that’s when the problems start, especially for Kate. Star Magazine has a semi-interesting take on the whole A-Rod/Hudson situation – it’s an interview with a woman A-Rod had an affair with back in 2004:

Alex and Cynthia’s divorce was finalized in January — but Alicia says Kate can forget about becoming the next Mrs. A-Rod. “If they’re together, they must have something in common. But I hope she’s just having fun with him, because he’s the type of guy who will break your heart!”

Okay, so this woman that the then-married A-Rod had an affair with back in 2004 is getting her name in the tabloids by giving Kate Hudson a “warning”. Interesting. I’ll buy that A-Rod is a douchey cheater, but I kind of think he’s a romantic too. I’m judging him from the whole Madonna incident, when it seemed like he was way more into Madonna than she was to him. I think it’s perfectly possible Alex has real feelings for Kate. And one thing to keep in mind: Kate is as much of a heartbreaker as Alex, if not more so.

In Touch Weekly has a hilarious story abut Kate Hudson this week. This classic of tabloid journalism is called “Kate’s a Curse For Men”. In Touch runs down her past relationships with Lance Armstrong, Owen Wilson and Chris Robinson, as well as her current relationship with Alex Rodriguez. The point? Kate exhausts whichever guy she’s dating, and she basically destroys their souls. Plus, whenever she and a guy break up or maybe just get together, something really horrible happens. Oh my God, she’s a witch! Burn her, In Touch Weekly!

Some of the little photo pull-outs are funny – they’ve got some of the worst pictures of all of these men, with little snippets saying: “Alex Is Exhausted: ‘He’s burning the candle at both ends,’ says A-Rod’s friend. ‘He seems sluggish and tired’ since dating Kate.” And don’t forget this: “Owen Was Devasted: Owen Wilson reportedly slashed his wrists during a suicide attempt following their split.” The moral of this story is that Kate is a succubus, I think.

Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez stayed out until 2:30 on June 20, and then the next night they hit Blade Lounge.

But club-hopping probably wasn’t the greatest idea for the New York Yankees’ third baseman, whose doctor pulled him from a game two days before because of “fatigue” – even though he reserved 100 tickets for his family – according to the team’s general manager, Brian Cashman.

A buddy of A-Rod’s says: “He’s in the middle of baseball season, yet he’s trying to wine and dine Kate… the two don’t go together very well.”

According to a friend, Kate is known for commanding a man’s attention and getting him to bend to her whims – even it it’s not in his best interest. “Guys become addicted to her,” says the friend. But trouble follows after men date Kate.

In August 2007, Owen Wilson attempted suicide after their split. Two months after breaking up with Kate, cyclist Lance Armstrong was questioned about using performance-enhancing drugs (he tested clean). Kate’s ex-husband, rocker Chris Robinson broke up with his band and broke his hand after falling in love with her.

“I had never felt anything like that,” Chris admitted. “It kind of took me over.” Since their 2006 separation, the band is back together.

Can Alex escape another Kate-caused controversy? His friend claims that Yankees management have already warned him not to let his latest romance become a distraction.

I don’t really hate Kate – actually, I find her mildly amusing. While I don’t really find her acting career all that interesting, I like that she doesn’t seem to follow the typical “I’m going to sit around and be a victim and get sympathy” route that so many female celebrities do. Kate’s been dumped several times, and she’s done the dumping several times. She always moves on and she never feels sorry for herself, which I really admire. As far as the whole “sucking the life out of a man’s soul” thing… well, most of those guys totally deserve it. Except for Owen. I really do think she messed him up big time, but it’s not all her fault. She’s not really a witch after all.

Kate Hudson seems like one of those women who moves too fast in relationships and is all too eager to rearrange her life to center around her new man. She dated athlete Lance Armstrong last summer and the two quickly met each other’s families and jetted around the country together. That relationship lasted three months and seemed to flame out almost as soon as it began. To their credit, neither of them spoke about the other to the press although there were enough photos of them at hitting the paparazzi hot spots together.

Now Kate is dating a notorious ladies’ man, Yankee player Alex Rodriguez, and seems to be making the same mistakes. Rodriguez is an even worse choice for a mate than Armstrong, and Kate is supposedly traveling with him as he tours with his team. The NY Post words this to make Kate sound like a puppy dog, she’s “following Alex around,” but I would bet that the feeling is mutual and that A-Rod is more than happy to have her with him:

In Touch has a story this week that claims that Hudson’s friends and family are advising her to be careful with A-Rod. This could be pure conjecture but I can’t imagine that anyone really approves of that guy as good boyfriend material:

While an associate of the baseball star says that Alex and Kate, 30, are longtime friends, it’s clear that they’ve taken their relationship to a new level. But Kate’s friends fear she’s setting herself up for heartbreak. “She should not take this too seriously,” says one pal. “Alex doesn’t stick with one woman…”

Many worry that, like Kate’s marriage to Chris Robinson and her failed romances with Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong, her romance with A-Rod will ultimately fall apart. “He has a very short attention span when it comes to dating,” says a pal.

It seems like Kate is happy to go along with what the guy wants and to honor however much privacy he’d like to have, which could explain why there are almost no photos of her out with Owen Wilson during the months they dated on and off. Owen guards his privacy and probably wanted to make sure to keep the relationship under wraps. I doubt that Rodriguez cares much either way and we will probably see photos of the two of them together at some time – if their relationship lasts much longer. Why do otherwise smart and successful women make such bad choices for partners? This is a guy who visited prostitutes while he was married. Maybe Kate will find the right one soon, though. You have to kiss a lot of frogs.

Remember, back in the day, when Madonna and Alex Rodriguez were all over each other in some kind of lusty steroid-haze? It was actually only a few months ago, but it feels like years. Back then, A-Rod seemed fascinated by Madge, causing even his estranged wife to comment that he seemed under Madonna’s spell. Rumors about their breakup were that Madonna had ended it because… she got tired of him or something. Both A-Rod and Madge bounced back post-split – Madonna with Jesus Luz and A-Rod with a string of very young women, and now Kate Hudson - although A-Rod was maybe trying to get back with Madonna for some time.

You’d think that after those little dramas, Madonna and R-Rod wouldn’t want anything to do with one another, but Gatecrasher is reporting something altogether surprising. Not only is Madonna peeved at Jesus Luz’s description of their relationship as “just friends”, it seems Madonna is “relieved” and “proud” that A-Rod is dating Kate Hudson. Madge thinks that she helped A-Rod “raise the bar” for the women he dated:

[If Madonna] is displeased with her Brazilian stud, Madonna is more than happy that another recent ex, Alex Rodriguez, has moved on with actress Kate Hudson.

“Madonna is actually relieved that A-Rod seems so happy with Kate,” a Madge insider tells us. “He’s always treated women like he treats home runs anyway. He’s getting a great batting average here. In fact, Madonna is actually proud that she’s raised the bar for him, so he can date a better caliber of women.”

Sources tell us Hudson and A-Rod have been secretly seeing one another for the past month and a half. “Kate said she’s been seeing someone new, but had to keep it very hush-hush,” one Hudson insider confided.

Added another, “When she hits Yankee Stadium, she sits in A-Rod’s private seats. They’re giddy when they’re together.” And although Hudson is currently filming in Oklahoma, she and her slugger keep the new love alive with sexy late-night phone calls.

Too bad Madge and Luz are just “friends,” because these four could have made for a very interesting double date!

Yes, too bad Jesus described Madonna as a friend. It’s also too bad that he described her as beautiful and lacking any visible faults. To get that kind of publicity, it’s almost as if you’d need a series of talking points from Madonna’s publicist. So, does Madonna approve of A-Rod and Kate Hudson? I doubt it. But I doubt because I don’t think Madge cares if A-Rod lives or dies, that’s how over him she is. And if that’s not the case, I doubt Madonna is happy with the simple fact that after she breaks up with a guy, whether it be Guy Ritchie, A-Rod or Jesus, he always goes running into the arms of someone much younger.
