I’ve been dying to see the new movie ‘21,’ which tells the story of some super-smart MIT math nerds who make big bucks counting cards in Las Vegas. I read the book it’s based on, “Bringing Down the House,” and the film stars one of my favorite new actors, Jim Sturgess, who was fantastic in “Across the Universe.” Now, Kate Bosworth, who co-stars in the film as Jim Sturgess’ love interest, reveals how they prepared to do a steamy love scene- they got hammered.

The 25-year-old actress cannot recall shooting her love scene with Jim Sturgess for 21, she told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s Cinema Society and Calvin Klein Jeans-sponsored screening of the film in Manhattan.

“We were both so drunk,” the Superman Returns star said. “Jim and I became such good friends, we decided to have a couple of drinks, loosen up and go for it.”

Sturgess – who plays the lead in the shot-on-location casino flick, based on Ben Mezrich’s book, Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas for Millions – has similarly fuzzy recollections.

“We were on Grey Goose, I think,” said the British actor. “It was brilliant for about half and an hour. As we continued to drink … it just became sloppy and messy. I couldn’t stand up at one point.”

I always wondered how actors got through these loves scenes- now it makes perfect sense. From what I’ve read, shooting these kinds of scenes are no picnic- there you are, often buck naked with someone you barely know, while an entire film crew is standing around talking and telling you what to do. Then again, Jim Sturgess is adorable, and I know many women who’d happily brave all that discomfort for the chance to smooch him. If you haven’t seen him yet in “Across the Universe,” do yourself a favor and rent it.

Kate Bosworth is the perfect clothes rack, and Katie Holmes looks like she’s shrugged off the religious brainwashing in favor of the soothing balm of consumerism.

Katie was seen shopping for shoes and purses at Christian Louboutin earlier that day, and even looked at a frilly pink coat for little Suri. Speaking of little Suri, she hasn’t been seen outside the house at any point during her supposed six months on this earth. Nary a baby carriage, carrier or accessory has been photographed, and although we have that great spread in Vanity Fair it seems a bit thin considering there’s no candid evidence of the tyke apart from those creepy helicopter pictures that came out. Yes, I always mention this, but isn’t it a bit suspect? Work with me on this.

Katie is in Paris with Victoria Beckham, and has been seen out on the town with her in various fashion-forward outfits.

Kate Bosworth, 23, has a starring role in “Superman Returns,” but she still seems to be uncertain about her star status. She says she was waiting to be replaced as Lois Lane, and that it’s easy to be insecure in Hollywood.

She got the role of Lois Lane in “Superman Returns” on the recommendation of Kevin Spacey, who directed her in “Beyond the Sea.” Director Bryan Singer saw a screening of the film and asked Spacey how she was to work with. Spacey had nothing but praise for the young actress, and Singer cast her in the role of Lane shortly afterwards. Bosworth was insecure about the big production, though, and was waiting for the axe to drop well into her work on the film:

Bosworth started her career in a role of a friend of the young girl in “The Horse Whisperer” at the age of 14. She was an accomplished rider and went to the audition on a lark. She had her big break in the surfing film “Blue Crush” in 2002 and went on to play in “Wonderland” and “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton.”

She says she’s turned down roles that required nudity, but she leaves the option open by saying that she’s not sure how she’ll feel about it in a few years.

Now that Bosworth is in a blockbuster film, the buzz is that she’s about to hit it big in Hollywood.

She doesn’t see the lack of privacy and stalkerazzi as a problem yet, and is more concerned about her status in Hollywood:

Bosworth says she’s not engaged to Orlando Bloom and won’t elaborate other than to say she’s “very happy.”

She was recently voted the sexiest Lois Lane over Teri Hatcher and Erica Durance.

One of Kate’s eyes is half hazel and half blue, and she has been asked to wear contact lenses to hide it in every movie she’s appeared in - except for “Superman Returns.” Director Bryan Singer liked Kate’s eyes the way they were and now the Lois Lane dolls have eyes that are two colors, just like the actress.

“Superman Returns” is doing well at the box office, with $21 million on its first opening day.

Kate Bosworth and new super-hottie Brandon Routh attended the premiere of “Superman Returns” last night in LA. Kate was dashing in a floor length white gown, but her ears looked elvish and she should have worn her hair down.

“Superman Returns” opens this weekend and is sure to be a hit with critics and crowds. It has an astonishing 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics saying that it’s “superb,” “triumphant,” and a lot of fun.

Here is an interview with Bosworth about her character, Lois Lane, in “Superman Returns.” The narration voice-over is really loud, so be careful if you’re watching at work.

Bosworth did all her own flying stunts with a harness in the film.

Bosworth is seen posing with her costar Brandon Routh, and with her flirty boyfriend, Orlando Bloom. People were saying that Bloom and Bosworth may have ended their tumultuous relationship after Bloom was caught nuzzling Claire Danes and having lunch with Sienna Miller.

Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth had a low-profile on and off relationship
since meeting on the set of a Gap commercial in the spring of 2002. They were said to be engaged in October, 2004, but then Bloom confirmed that he had broken up with Bosworth in February, 2005. It didn’t last long because Bloom and Bosworth were spotted shopping for engagement rings in mid-December of last year. They were last photographed together at the end of May.

Bloom was seen out with Bosworth last week, but had two different encounters with celebrity sluts that are suspicious:

The Mirror says it’s more than a coincidence that Sienna Miller and Orlando Bloom were at the same place at the same time, they were having lunch together and then left separately to avoid being photographed:

Orlando Bloom is not that hot to me, and I don’t get his appeal. In these pictures taken at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation launch party on June 19th he looks like some of the wannabe hipster programmer types I used to work with who could have used a good shower and a shave. There was a rumor a while ago that Orlando gave Kate herpes. With the types he’s associating with I wouldn’t be surprised.

Yesterday we mentioned that Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth attended a party by watchmakers IWC in the Swiss city of Geneva. Today we found the pictures from the event which include the lovely Cate Blanchett.

The theme of the night was 30s and 40s glamour, and the party was held in an aircraft hangar at Geneva airport. The band played big band music, and stars posed with classic airplanes.

Cate Blanchett is currently starring in the film “Little Fish” as an ex drug addict trying to reclaim her dignity. She will also star in the sequel to her critically acclaimed film, “Elizabeth,” which will begin shooting next month.

People speculated that Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth were broken up based on a blind item in the NY Post that seemed to suggest that Bosworth split with Bloom when she found out he had herpes. The two have not been photographed together in some time, suggesting that the rumor was true.

It seems that their relationship is fine, because Katie and Orlando were spotted in Geneva last night attending one of the jet-set parties taking place in the Swiss city:
