Paris Hilton, her monotone voice and her Botoxed to hell mom were on The Piers Morgan Show last night. She went on at length about how her sex tape partner, Rick Soloman, sold her out and ruined her dreams in the process. At one point she even sort-of compared herself to Princess Diana. It was ridiculous. Throughout it all, Paris’ mom Kathy cried but only her lips and hands moved while her unnaturally puffy face tried to scrunch up in a “sad” expression that she couldn’t quite manage. Meanwhile Paris just acted and sounded bored and vapid, like she always does. She’s promoting her “World According to Paris” reality show, which premieres on Oxygen tonight.

P. HILTON: I just — just felt so betrayed. This was not some random guy. This was someone I was with for a few years.

MORGAN: That you loved?

P. HILTON: I thought I did and I can’t believe that he would do something like that to me. It’s something that changed my life forever. You know, and I was a little girl, I looked up to people like Princess Diana and these women, and I feel like he took that away from me.

This is not what I planned. I didn’t want to be known as that, and now, when people look at me they think that I’m something I’m not just because of one incident one night with someone who I was in love with. People assume — oh, she’s a slut just because of one thing that happened to me and it’s hard because I’ll never — I’ll have to live with that for the rest of my life and explain it to my children.

And it’s — it’s something that’s changed my life forever and I’ll never be able to erase it…

K. HILTON: And it doesn’t go away, I mean, that is something that will always —

MORGAN: I see people now, you know, pretty low-ranking celebrities who I suspect are almost deliberately creating sex tapes and putting them out there.

K. HILTON: Like it’s some recipe.

MORGAN: Yes — like it’s almost part of becoming a celebrity.

K. HILTON: Well, I can say this — Paris already had, you know, 14 or 12 or 14 pages in “Vanity Fair.” I think that we have to give Donald Trump and also Graydon Carter from “Vanity Fair” some credit because they both — you know, Donald actually was handling her modeling career and talked us into even allowing her, because we were friends with him. So, he really started her out and then Graydon spotted her, you know, in New York and — and did this whole story on her.

So, that really was when people started to see, you know …

Read where Paris’ mom said that her daughter had some pages in Vanity Fair so you can’t chalk her fame up to the sex tape. Piers brought it up on that ass-kissing way of his, but still it’s ridiculous. You can tell that Kathy is still hurt and upset by all this while Paris is totally over it and just giving it lip service.

I would say that like so many of her contemporaries after her, Paris may cry and complain about her sex tape getting out, but no sex tapes are released commercially without co-stars signing off on them. There’s no “hard” evidence that Paris cashed in on her sex tape, just a rumor from the NY Post that she was overheard bragging with Soloman that they’d each made a million off of it. Also, the tape coincidentally came out just a week prior to Paris’ small screen reality show debut, The Simple Life. Paris did sue Salomon for the tape’s release, but only after he sued her first for defamation when she tried to claim that she didn’t sign off on it. (I got a refresher on all that on Wiki)

So the whole sex tape issue with Paris is sketchy, and since the tape came out right before her first reality show and helped catapult her to fame, I don’t think it affected her negatively at all. There was never an option for Paris to be the next Princess Diana, and if she was aiming for that maybe she should have followed through on some of that charity work she pledged to do after she got out of jail. Like that time she promised to go to Rwanda and never quite got there. Handing her bikini photos out to orphans while her then-boyfriend was on tour in South Africa doesn’t count.

A bunch of members of the insanely dysfunctional Hilton family went out to dinner last night, including Paris, her sister Nicky, her aunts Kim and Kyle Richards, Kyle’s kids and her husband, Mauricio. Paris is still looking very pregnant, and even more so here, and it’s telling that we’re not really going to focus on that and are going to gossip about her aunts instead. We know that Kyle is an abusive catty bitch and that Kim is a wacky alcoholic (after their appearance on the first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and from the looks of these photos, nothing has changed there. Kim is red-faced and looks blotto and Kyle is typically smug. I suspect that if Kathy wasn’t wealthy in her own right and had joined the fray on Real Housewives we’d see that she has a similarly unhealthy dynamic with her two sisters.

Judging from these photos, Kim and Kathy are doing fine but Kyle is still being standoffish with Kim despite Kim’s attempts at being conciliatory where she had nothing to be sorry for. We’ve heard that all the members of the first season of RHOBH will be returning next season, so I’m sure we’ll see more of Kyle treating Kim like crap.

And we’ll soon see Paris, Kathy and maybe a little of Nicky on whatever reality show they have brewing with Charlie Sheen’s ex wife, Brooke Mueller. I doubt it will be half as interesting or drama-filled as RHOBH. It probably won’t even do half as well as that Kardashian mess, as much as I can’t stand those people. Paris is old news now.

So who do you think arranged this little paparazzi outing? Kyle, right?

John McCain sure didn’t think through his latest campaign ad very well. In it, he pokes fun at Barack Obama by claiming he’s the world’s biggest celebrity after Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. The McCain camp says it’s supposed to be funny, but it really isn’t. I’m not saying it’s not funny in the sense of “this is very serious stuff; you shouldn’t joke.” It’s just flat-out dumb and not very creative. It isn’t funny. And it’s clear they’re trying to paint Obama as some sort of frivolous dilettante with that ridiculous comparison.

What they really forgot to consider was that the Hilton family donated to McCain’s campaign. And now Kathy Hilton is pretty damn pissed.

If John McCain thought it was tough battling Barack Obama, let’s see how he likes having an angry mom to contend with as well! Paris Hilton’s mom, Kathy, is furious with McCain for picking on her little girl in a TV ad aired last week. McCain says the spot painting his rival as ‘just another celeb’ like Paris or Britney, was meant to be funny — but Momma Hilton doesn’t see the joke.

”It is a complete waste of the country’s time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs,” Kathy said on the Huffington Post Web site. ”And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States.” And McCain shouldn’t be expecting another check from the Hiltons in the post either.

Kathy and her husband donated $4,600 to his campaign this year, but she said the ad was ”a complete waste of the money John McCain’s contributors have donated to his campaign,” according to the New York Times.

Obviously McCain isn’t the first person to publicly make fun of Paris. But it is pretty damn tacky to take nearly $5,000 from someone and then turn around and make fun of their daughter. It was a stupid ad that the McCain camp clearly thought was clever, but at best was absolutely banal. At worst it was insulting. They should have spent that $4,600 on an ad agency that actually has a little bit of creativity.

Kathy Hilton claims she’s reached a year of sobriety – and that she’s done it for absolutely no other reason than to set a good example for her drunk driving offspring. Kathy’s friends are absolutely adamant that she doesn’t have a drinking problem. She just gave up booze completely for the heck of it.

Following a tough period of time for the Hilton family, mom Kathy recently celebrated a milestone: one year of sobriety. Because two of her four children have been arrested for drinking and driving, Kathy decided to give up alcohol altogether.

“She wanted to set a good example for her family,” says a pal of the 49-year-old, adding that although Kathy didn’t have a drinking problem, “she wanted to walk the walk.” The former actress had already given up her occasional cocktails when her 18-year-old son, Barron, was arrested on a DUI charge in February.

Now, with her brood back on track, Kathy is tackling another bad habit — smoking. “She doesn’t smoke in front of me!” Paris tells In Touch. After Barron was arrested, Kathy hired a family therapist to help them through the ordeal together.

I’d say that if that’s true, Hilton should cut back and show her kids responsible drinking, and the value of temperance. I don’t think a single one of Kathy Hilton’s spawn knows a thing about moderation. But quitting entirely sends the message that it’s all or nothing. And if I know anything about Paris Hilton, I’m guessing she’s going to choose all.

I myself am a near teetotaler for no reason other than it takes me massive, massive quantities of alcohol to get a buzz, but just a sip to get a hangover. Thus the cost is rarely worth the benefit. So I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with a non-alcoholic deciding to give up booze entirely. It’s not like you need a reason. But somehow the idea that the only way Kathy Hilton thought she could get her kids to not drink so much was to quit entirely – I just don’t buy it. I’m guessing someone saw her leave an AA meeting or something, and she worried she’d be exposed, so she’s trying to control the story. Or maybe Kathy Hilton is trying to teach values for the first time. A little late, but whatever.
