Jon Stewart and Steve from Blues Clues to guest on Noggin show

Daily Show host Jon Stewart is going to appear on Children’s television network Noggin’s Jack’s Big Music Show on Friday February 2nd. Stewart once worked on the side as a children’s puppeteer, and has two children with his wife Tracey, Nathan Thomas, who will be three in July, and Maggie Rose, who is almost one.

What’s more, Steve from Blue Clues is going to appear in a music video to air on the show. Steve ranked high on our list of The Hottest Guys on Children’s Television, and moms everywhere commented that they were heartbroken when the emo cutie left the show.

It’s a star-studded lineup at Jack’s clubhouse, as Jon Stewart and Cheryl Hines visit musical puppets Jack, Mary and Mel this February on NOGGIN’s original hit series Jack’s Big Music Show. Stewart will play Groundhog News Network reporter Brunk Stinegrouber in “Groundhog Day,” which will premiere as a simulcast on NOGGIN and Nick Jr. on Friday, February 2 (on Groundhog Day) at 12:00 p.m. (ET/PT). On Saturday, February 10 at 12:00 p.m. (ET/PT), NOGGIN, the commercial-free educational network from Nickelodeon, will debut Hines’ guest-starring role as professional dog stylist Sudsy Bubblestein in “Mel’s Bath Day.” Jack’s Big Music Show airs regularly Monday through Friday from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. (ET) and on weekends from 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. (ET) on NOGGIN.

The “Groundhog Day” episode will also feature an original music video collaboration by The Flaming Lips’ Steven Drozd and indie rocker and former Blue’s Clues star Steve Burns, entitled “I Hog The Ground (Groundhog Song).” On Sunday, February 3, the “Jack’s Super Swell Sing-Along” episode will feature a new music video by recording artist Lisa Loeb entitled “Jenny Jenkins.”

Jack’s Big Music Show is a half-hour live-action series hosted by preschooler puppet Jack and his melodious cast of friends who play everyday at his clubhouse.

Here are some pictures of Stewart’s upcoming appearance.

And here’s a clip of Jack’s Big Music Show that does not feature John Stewart or Steve Burns, but is still cute:

The Noggin people e-mailed me this story, and I know it’s not our usual fare but The Noggin Website is my son’s favorite, and since I love Jon Stewart and Steve Burns I thought I’d run it.

White Trash Parenting

wt-parenting.jpg
White Trash Parents Britney and Kevin have worked out the January custody arrangements
for their children. Brit and her posse are taking the kids to Miami for the first part of January. Britney is supposed to let K-Fed know where she is while in Miami. White Trash Mom wonders if this includes telling him about the nightclubs she’s partying and flashing at.

After Brit returns from Miami, the children’s father gets to see them for three weekly visits at Britney’s new home. Visits are to be no more than 4 hours in length. Since this is about a 1000% increase in the time K-Fed usually spends with the boys, I’d say at least one of the two of them is trying to improve.

The only people that are allowed at the “January Father Visits”: Britney, Kevin, a nanny, Britney’s personal assistant and “household staff”. So I guess that is about 25 people if you count the staff. It warms my little WT heart to see how family centered Kev and Brit are being, don’t you agree?

Is it a big deal if Lebron James let his kid see some boobies? (NSFW pics)

People are saying NBA star Lebron James is a bad dad for bringing his kid to a party in which a hot surgically altered babe is walking around topless. On one hand, I don’t see the big deal. There’s a nice public pool next to our place in Switzerland (I’m still in NY now, hence the later lazy posting) and I’ve seen women change their tops right outside and think nothing of it. They’re not nude all the time but if they were and everyone else was I wouldn’t care. My husband and I go to the public saunas and there are plenty of people walking around naked. What’s the BFD with boobies?

On the other hand, I remember thinking a European woman at the gym was being an exhibitionist for not wearing a towel while she dried her hair in the locker room. Before I moved to Europe, I had a more conservative opinion about nudity, because for me at least it was culturally influenced.

As Socialite’s Life points out, this wasn’t a breastfeeding mother earth-type party, this was a hot chicks getting the action started-type party.

Was Lebron James off base for not shielding his kid from it? The thing is - there’s only one far away pic of his kid around the women and all of them are wearing bikini tops. We don’t know when it was taken and what he actually saw.

I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I can see how people would say he’s being a bad parent for letting his kid be around that atmosphere - if he saw something. I only see one woman with her top off in these pictures, not that she’s easy to miss.

Thanks to ONTD and Splash News for these pics.

Angelina Jolie as the Virgin Mary of Walmart

Artist Kate Kretz has created a beautifully detailed painting of Angelina Jolie as the Virgin Mary with her three children called “Blessed Art Thou.” It will be shown at the Art Miami Fair at the Miami Beach Convention Centre in the Chelsea Galleria booth from January 5th to 8th. The thing I love about the painting is that Angelina hovers on a cloud over a perfectly ordinary scene from inside a Walmart, with average people and racks of celebrity magazines off to the side. If you look at it quickly you’re almost fooled into thinking it’s a picture of a painting hanging inside an actual store.

This is similar to our artist in residence’s recent depiction of Angelina as The Mother of All Time, in which she wields a scythe and generally appears fierce. It’s funny how both artists depict Angelina with her children and exclude Brad.

Artist Kate Kretz says the work is about celebrity worship:

This painting addresses the celebrity worship cycle. The title, “Blessed Art Thou”, is taken from a line in the Catholic prayer “Hail Mary”: “…blessed art thou among women”. Our culture is deifying celebrities, but in the bible, it is the meek who are blessed, so the title presents a question for the viewer to ponder.

I chose a setting where the cycle begins: psychologically oppressive environments like this one are one of the feeding sources for the consumer, hungry for “information” about the celebrity’s private life. I am interested in the psychological ramifications of celebrity worship, particularly as they relate to class.

Angelina Jolie was chosen as the subject because of her unavoidable presence in the media, the world-wide anticipation of her child, her “unattainable” beauty and the good that she is doing in the world through her example, which adds another layer to the already complicated questions surrounding her status.

She’s already had several offers to purchase the painting and seems kind of amazed at the attention it’s getting. Well, she could have anticipated it. We can’t get enough of those holy celebrities.

The Mother of All Time New Year’s Art

Our artist in residence created this original New Year’s illustration for us. He told me he wanted to work Brad in “as either a pattern on the hem of her dress — or in the background holding her purse … but it got a little crowded.”

I think it’s a double play on Angelina’s status as top mommy and vilified home wrecker, but the artist lets us read our own meaning into his work.

Nicole Kidman screens “Happy Feet” for ill children

Nicole Kidman attended a special screening of the animated children’s film Happy Feet, in which she voices the character Norma Jean, for sick children from the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Around 400 children saw the film in Australia on Monday.

Kidman is a long-time supporter of the hospital and donated the screening for the children:

Kidman paid for and hosted a preview showing of her new movie, Happy Feet, for more than 400 patients at the Sydney Children’s Hospital and their families.

Kidman, who provides the voice for Norma Jean - mother of the animated star Mumble, the dancing penguin - in George Miller’s hit movie, met privately with a number of the terminally ill children before the screening.

“It puts life in perspective,” Kidman, who was accompanied by her daughter, Isabella, said as she walked into the theatre past a horde of photographers and television cameras.

But the screening was so low-key that there was not a fan in sight at the Hoyts complex at Sydney’s Fox Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park.

“It is just lovely to be able to do something for the children,” Kidman said.

The actor - who has been a financial supporter of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation for years - smiled sweetly for the cameras and then disappeared into the theatre with a young patient who was so enamoured with the Hollywood star that he told her he had handcuffs to keep her tied to her seat.

A number of doctors and nurses from the hospital also attended the screening in case the excitement proved too much for any of their patients.

A medical spokesman for the Sydney Children’s Hospital said that Kidman’s support was invaluable as she not only helped projects financially but also interacted with the children and their parents.

“She has known many of our long-term patients for a number of years,” he said.

A steady stream of obviously ill children - many in wheelchairs, others being carried and many with the distinctive baldness caused by treatment - stopped to cuddle a bloke in a Mumble penguin suit on the way in.

“This is just fantastic,” said Lindy Kingsford, whose son is being treated for leukemia.

“We usually can’t take him to the cinema because of his condition.

“This is the first movie he has been to since he was diagnosed last year.

“We didn’t tell him he was coming until this morning because we have had too many occasions where his illness has, at the last minute, prevented him from going.”

It was the first time Kidman had returned to her native Australia since her June marriage to country star Keith Urban. Urban is out of his latest stint at rehab and will spend his first Christmas with his new bride.

Kidman looks a bit fake to me, and I think her dress is too young-looking, but since she’s donating her time to a good cause I’ll leave it at that.

K-Fed takes his kids to Disneyland; Britney wears less clothes

While Britney gets constant press for stepping out drunk in various stages of undress, K-Fed tries to prove what a great dad he is by taking his kids with Shar Jackson to Disneyland. Shar was pregnant with K-Fed’s second spawn when he left her for Britney, but since he still supports her she has only praise for him in the press.

K-Fed took his daughter, Kori, and son, Kaleb, (his children with actress Shar Jackson) on a five-and-a-half hour excursion to Disneyland on Wednesday evening, The ShowBuzz has confirmed.

Federline arrived at the California theme park just before 5 p.m. with his two children, an assistant and two others who appeared to be security guards.

“We had been notified the day before that they wanted to come so we made the appropriate arrangements,” a source from Disneyland says.

Father and daughter first jumped on the Disneyland railroad, went to New Orleans Square and got on the Haunted Mansion, which is decorated for the Tim Burton film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

“Kori said it was her first time at Disneyland … She clearly loved her dad and she was having fun,” the source said. “He was asking her ‘What do you want to do next?’ ”

Kori went on rides with her father while little Kaleb slept. “Kaleb was actually asleep in the stroller and he didn’t want to wake him up,” the source says.

They all stayed to watch the Christmas parade and the Christmas fireworks show and left at about 10:30 p.m., after fake snow fell on Main street.

“He was just like any dad with his kids. She was a very sweet little girl,” the source said.

K-Fed is suing Britney for custody of his other two children, in what people say is a move to secure a larger settlement in the divorce. He’s obviously using his kids with Shar to make him seem like a better dad to the public, and his ploy might just work. Britney is doing herself no favors by being seen out half dressed at high profile nightspots in the middle of the week.

Britney is shown in these pictures with a backless see-through lace dress, which she wore to her mom’s birthday party. Pictures from Splash News Online.

Brad and Angelina are For Real

angiebrad.jpg
Everyone is going to roast me for this but I think Brad and Angelina are actually good parents.

Maybe it’s holiday goodwill, or too many holiday cocktails but I am changing my white trash view Brad and Angelina’s parenting. Call me a sucker but I’m starting to think they actually be for real. Or at least, as real it can be for Hollywood.

I saw a story in Life & Style about a recent holiday shopping trip for the family. As their movie star peers shower their offspring with expensive gadgets, the Jolie-Pitts (or Pitt-Jolies?) purchased bunch of craft and art stuff:

On Dec. 8, the couple visited one of their favorite NYC stores, Lee’s Art Shop, on 57th Street, with Maddox, 5, and Zahara, nearly 2.

The store closed its fourth floor, otherwise known as Toy World, while the power couple and their tykes decided what to take home, an eyewitness tells Life & Style.

“They were really interested in the creative kits and projects and the things they could do together with the children,” says the eyewitness. “Angelina got down on her hands and knees to examine things with her kids. You can tell that she’s a wonderful mother. They were looking at activities that could expand the kids’ minds and things they could do as a family.”

More photos from Angelina Jolie’s Vogue spread

Some more photos from Angelina’s spread in Vogue have come out. She looks damn good to me.

One of the revelations in Angelina’s interview with People is that she’s the disciplinarian, and the Brad often gives in to the kids. She said the Maddox is a calm kid and that Zahara is “dramatic and creative and loud and charming.” Aww.

Thanks to Faded Youth for these pictures.

Angelina let Maddox eat some crickets

The Sun is making a big deal out of the fact that Angelina Jolie and Maddox once ate crickets while they were at a restaurant in Cambodia. Impoverished Cambodians began eating crickets out of necessity during Pol Pot’s tyrannous regime in the 1970s and they’re now a delicacy in the country. They’re said to be quite good fried up with oil.

WACKY ANGELINA JOLIE has fed INSECTS to her adopted son Maddox.

The actress, 31, and partner BRAD PITT bought the five-year-old a plate of crickets — a delicacy in the tot’s native Cambodia.

She said: “I recently took Mad to Cambodia and it was the first trip there where he really understood it. We took him to a restaurant in the middle of the night and he had his first plate of crickets.”

The high-protein bugs — reminiscent of TV’s Bushtucker Trials — are popular in the South East Asian country. They are often served with guts intact.

Angelina has previously eaten cockroaches and bee larvae and wants to learn how to cook them at home.

The Sun even has a list of “foods” Angelina can serve her kids, like Cockroach-au-vin, Egg-fried lice, and Flea cheeses pizza. Maddox is Cambodian and if people eat crickets there and he wants to try it, why make fun of Angelina or call her weird? If I was in Cambodia I’d eat one. They’re not live so it’s not all Fear Factor or anything.

Here are some pictures of The Brangelina family in a toystore in NY. I want Angelina’s outfit - she looks so chic in that white jacket with black boots. Pictures from SimplyBrad.
