Kristen Bell & Dax Shephard welcome daughter Lincoln, that’s a girl’s name?

Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard, one of my favorite celebrity couples, have welcomed a baby daughter. I’m surprised that Kristen gave birth already, as it seems like she’s only been pregnant for a short while. That’s to her credit since she didn’t announce the pregnancy until she was several months along. The happy couple made the announcement on Twitter in their typically tongue-in-cheek way, which is way better than the “over the moon” statements we’ve come to expect.

It’s a girl for Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell!

“Lincoln Bell Shepard is here,” the Parenthood star Tweets. “She has mom’s beauty and dad’s obsession with breasts. Hooray!!!”

“My new roommate poops her pants and doesn’t pay rent…basically Dax pre-sobriety,” Bell adds. “Welcome baby Lincoln.”

Shepard, 38, and the House of Lies star, 32, announced the pregnancy in November.

Earlier this winter, Bell celebrated her baby shower while Shepard joked that he hoped their baby resembled his fiancée.

[From People]

I’ve never heard of Lincoln as a girl’s name. Just a couple of days ago my son was playing with a three year-old boy named Lincoln, and I remembered the kid’s name because I have a close friend with a son named Lincoln. I’m used to hearing that name for boys, and it just seems weird that it’s being used as a girl’s name. Kaiser and I were emailing about this and she mentioned that “Clinton” isn’t a common name yet, while I was surprised that “Reagan” is so common a name for girls. It just seems like “Reagan” should be a boys name, but somehow it got associated with girls.

Maybe that’s what Kristen Bell was thinking – she should reclaim the name “Lincoln” for girls/women. You know, she probably just started a trend. She’s famous and adorable, I can see the name shooting up in popularity for little girls.

Remember when Kristen was so over-the-top and sobbing on Ellen when she was confronted with a sloth? How much of a mess must she be now that she’s got her own baby? She must be so obsessed with little Lincoln, but she’s trying to play it off like they got a roommate. Congratulations to Kristen and Dax!

Kristen Bell on if she’s having a natural childbirth: “I’ve got nothing to prove”

Pregnant Kristen Bell was on The Ellen Degeneres show today, and the Ellen people sent us some clips. Bell, 32, is pregnant with her first child, with fiance Dax Shephard. I love those two as a couple and hope for the best for them and their baby.

Kristen revealed to Ellen that they knows the sex of the baby but are choosing to keep it a secret. She said she’s due sometime in late Spring, which I would guess to be around May. Ellen wouldn’t take no for an answer on the baby’s sex and she seemed to get some clues from Kristen suggesting that it’s a boy. My favorite part of the interview is when Ellen asked Kristen if she’s considering a natural birth and she’s all “hell no.” This was really funny:

On if she’s going to have a natural childbirth
I’ve got nothing to prove. I feel like when I arrive at the hospital. I want a glass of whiskey, I want the epidural in my back. And, I want to get hit in the face with a baseball bat and wake me up when it’s over because I’ve seen the videos and it looks terrifying.

On how she has dopamine-induced high self esteem
I look in the mirror and I think it’s the reverse body dysmorphia because I can understand what my shape is but I see Brooke Shields. And, it doesn’t make a lick of sense but it’s something that the baby’s giving me hormonally makes me feel really giggly and happy.

On if Dax Shepard is excited
He is, yeah. In different ways then I am. He’s just thinking about all the off-roading he’ll have in this tiny partner.

Ellen says “So, it’s a boy?”
Maybe? Do you have to be a boy off road? Absolutely not.

[From The Ellen show, received via email.]

Kristen also shared this adorable picture of Dax practicing for their baby by putting one of their dogs in the Baby Bjorn. She claims the dog got in there willingly.

And she also dressed her dogs up for Halloween like Downton Abbey staffmembers Mrs. O’Brien and Thomas Barrow. I sh*t you not.

Do you remember the last time that Kristen Bell was on Ellen and she started crying when Ellen told her there was a sloth backstage? (Video is here.) That was just a year ago, and Ellen was punking Kristen, there was no sloth, and kind of exploiting her strange obsession with sloths. Last year Kristen told Ellen how Dax hired a sloth to come to her 31st birthday party. She was so freaked out about it, even recounting the story, and explained that she’s one of those people who cries easily.

Anyway Ellen brought a real sloth on stage with Kristen this time! The sloth’s name was Lola, and Kristen said that she’d actually heard that there was a sloth named Lola in LA. She has all the LA sloths’ names memorized apparently. Kristen really kept it together this time, I was surprised. I cry easily too although I can hold it in if I focus. I could see Kristen struggling not to cry. (My kid has a school project to do on Helen Keller and those YouTube newsreel videos really do me in.) Kristen was working hard to seem calm about the sloth but she was probably dying inside.

Here’s the video of Kristen seeing the sloth. She’s also gifted a baby sloth outfit from Ellen and she loves it. This girl is such a trip.

And here’s the rest of Kristen’s interview:

Emily Blunt in cutout Michael Kors at the Golden Globes: edgy or terrible?

There were quite a few light-colored sequined dresses at the Globes last night. My favorite look was on Helen Hunt, which I’ll get to in a moment. First off we have Emily Blunt in a bizarre yellowish Michael Kors dress with cutouts along the ribcage. This is such a fug dress I’m wondering how Emily and her people greenlit it, like how did that process go and did anyone even second-guess this gown? Emily loves formfitting gowns, and we’ve seen her in cutout dresses before, but this is a convergence of so many poor choices in one dress. There’s some swirly lace, it’s an unappealing color, and it has round sequins stuck on it in a random pattern. At least the cut is flattering. Also, what is going on with those bright, chunky earrings and her updo? It’s just a bad look all around.

In contrast, a visibly pregnant Kristen Bell wore a very cute cap-sleeve empire waist Jenny Packham gown. The dress flowed beautifully in motion and she looked very comfortable on stage. This is an elegant maternity gown.

I thought Isla Fisher was gorgeous in Reem Acra. I love the sheer shoulder panels on this gown and the very simple but striking square sequins. It’s a very straightforward dress that packs a lot of punch, but some people are bound to find it boring.

Helen Hunt really killed it for me in this wide-striped sequin and mesh gown. Look at the amazing detail on the neckline and bodice. This dress is a work of art. (I can’t find a designer ID on this yet.) It also highlights her great figure without showing too much skin.

Connie Britton wasn’t as successful in a formfitting sleeveless silver gown. It was a pretty dress, the cut just seemed a bit cookie cutter to me. Still, I loved her hair and makeup.

Kristen Bell is pregnant with Dax Shepard’s baby, surprising for them?

I’m honestly surprised to hear that Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are expecting a baby. I know they’re a picture of supercute, mildly cloying, couplehood, what with that movie they did together this summer and all, but they don’t seem like the type to have a kid. They’ve been engaged for almost three years, and Kristen has offered varying explanations as to why they haven’t made it official yet (it’s too much stress, they’re waiting for same sex marriage to be legal) so I assumed they were happy with the way things were. Whatever the case, they’re having a baby! I’m really surprised and happy for them. Here’s more:

Life is imitating art for Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell.

The Parenthood actor and the House of Lies actress are expecting their first child in late spring, a close friend of the longtime couple tells PEOPLE.

“They’re so excited — they’re both ecstatic. They can’t wait to become parents,” the friend tells PEOPLE.

“Kristen had a little bit of morning sickness early on but she just started shooting the second season of House of Lies and is feeling great now.”

Bell, 32, and Shepard, 37, started dating in 2007 and have been engaged for nearly three years.

While promoting their film Hit and Run this summer, the couple said children were definitely in their future and would likely come before a wedding, since they don’t plan to marry until same-sex marriage is legal in their home state of California.

“We wouldn’t want to invite all of our friends who don’t have that right to celebrate us, who have that right. We just don’t feel right about that,” Shepard said on The View in July. Added Bell: “Can you think about how rude that would feel?”

Having kids before marriage, Bell told Larry King in August, “doesn’t really bother us.”

[From People]

Let’s see… if Kristen is due in late Spring, like May or so, that means she’s around three months along and that she got pregnant in August when they were on the press tour for Hit & Run. I like that they admitted they would have kids before marriage, and it sounds like they were trying back when they said that. Good for them!

As for how they’ll be as parents, they’re going to love that baby to pieces. Do you remember that viral video of Kristen freaking out on Ellen just at the memory of having a baby sloth visit her at her birthday party? She’s going to be flipping out once she realizes how amazing and adorable her own baby is. I have the feeling Dax is going to be the responsible one. Maybe they balance each other out that way.

Here’s Kristen on 10-10. She doesn’t look pregnant, but she was only a couple months along at this point:

Kristen Bell won’t marry Dax Shephard until same sex marriage is legal in CA

I love Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard as a couple. I know she seems a little high strung and over-emotional, judging by her viral video featuring her reaction to the mere mention of a sloth on Ellen. (Seriously, watch it if you haven’t yet.) But she also seems cool to me, in the way that a friend who’s over the top makes life seem like an awesome adventure. Maybe you couldn’t take it to hang out with her every day, but she seems like a hell of a lot of fun. (Check out this recent profile of her in Esquire, which confirms my impression of her.) Dax Shephard is also the highlight of my favorite drama, “Parenthood,” and I’ve been impressed with him in the interviews I’ve seen. He kind of reminds me of my brother, which is probably why I think he’s so cool.

So I’m glad to have a chance to write about them, and to help promote their movie. They’re co-starring in Hit and Run, an action movie also featuring Bradley Cooper, Kristen Chenoweth and Tom Arnold. It was written and co-directed by Shephard, and the trailer is below. It looks fun as anything. Hit & Run is out next week.

As part of promotion for the film, Celebuzz asked these two when they were going to get married. They got engaged a whopping two and a half years ago, over the holiday season in 2009/2010. Earlier this year Kristen saidWe consider ourselves already married. We already wear the rings. I don’t want a wedding. It’s too much stress.” Now she’s saying that they’re waiting until same sex marriage is legal in California:

They met in 2007 and he popped the question on Christmas day 2010, [sic: it was Christmas, 2009] but Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard aren’t ready for a stroll down the aisle just yet.

“This is very much up to the State of California,” Bell told Celebuzz when asked about her wedding plans.

“We’ve been very vocal about not wanting to be married in a state that doesn’t allow that right to all of its citizens. We’ll wait until California gets on the right side of history.”

A union of another kind came early for Bell and Shepard as the two star in Hit & Run their first movie together since 2010’s When in Rome. Directed by Shepard and starring his good friends Tom Arnold, Bradley Cooper and his Parenthood costar, Joy Bryant, the new movie fulfills one of the actor’s lifelong ambitions.

“Seeing the man I love really accomplish one of his dreams, which is directing a real car chase movie, I wanted to give him the best performance,” said Bell. “I wanted to be able to do what he wanted to see. So there wasn’t ego involved when he was directing me.”

Not this time, but there might have been. Working with a loved one can be bliss or it can be hell. Chemistry in the home can turn into chaos on the set, especially when budgets are as short as the shooting schedule.

“We disagree on almost everything,” said Bell.

“But not work,” added Shepard. “We typically like the exact same movies. We have the same opinion on scripts and on television shows. In that respect, we’ve very, very aligned.”

[From Celebuzz]

So earlier this year Kristen said that it was too much stress to get married, and now she’s saying she’s postponing the wedding in solidarity with same sex couples. Maybe she’s just happy with the way things are and doesn’t want to mess it up. They live together (next to Justin Bieber) and it sounds like they’re doing well – I hope! I was ready to praise them for taking a stand on an important issue, but now it sounds like Kristen has her own reasons for not wanting to make it official yet. Whatever works for them.

Here’s the trailer for Hit & Run. I think Bradley Cooper is a solid actor, and this looks really funny.

These are photos from the Hit & Run premiere last night, also including Bradley Cooper. I really dislike that jumpsuit on Bell, but I’m not going to focus on that. Credit: WENN.com

This is a still from Hit & Run. I used it for the front page because there’s such a height difference between the that I had a hard time finding a photo where their faces were side by side

Kristen Bell in gold Reem Acra at the CMT awards: try hard or gorgeous?

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell wore a gold, sequin-embellished Reem Acra gown to the CMT Music Awards last night. Since she hosted the event, she later took to the stage in a variety of looks including Collette Dinnigan & Monique Lhuillier dresses as well. As for this red carpet look, the Reem Acra dress fits the mood of the venue but also makes her look much more “grown up” than her petite frame and usual fresh, youthful looks would otherwise suggest. I bet she gets really tired of being called “cute,” you know? Kristen’s make up looks gorgeous here, and the big hair suits Kristen well. She’s so damn pretty.

Kristen Bell

Also in attendance with Kristen on the red carpet was her betrothed (or possible husband), Dax Shepard. I know it’s been years, but I still find it so strange that she’s with him. Maybe he’s got a great personality … outside of his public persona.

Kristen Bell

Kellie Pickler

Kellie Pickler revealed a fair amount of boob in a shiny, blush-pink Herve Leger by Max Azria dress that obviously wasn’t a Herve Ledger bandage dress, but the visual effect was the same. I wasn’t crazy about the dress at all, but I loved her date and his dog! Kellie was escorted to the event by U.S. Marine Sgt. Sean DeBevoise, who (according to a a Memphis news television station) is a wounded Marine. That’s his service dog, Rusty, also on the red carpet. You can’t see it, but Rusty is wearing a bow tie in an effort to look stylish as well, but Rusty needn’t have bothered because he’d look great with or without accessories.

Kellie Pickler

Denise Richards

Denise Richards wore a sequined mini dress by Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet. Her body looked amazing, but the dress is a bit too escortish for me to take her seriously in a fashion context. Denise has always had great hair, but her makeup is overdone — as is the fake tanner. So much fake tanner!

Denise Richards

Lauren Alaina

Lauren Alaina wore a simple black cocktail dress and looked adorable with simple (yet still big) hair and makeup, but those icky blue shoes have got to go. The dress looks a bit “dressier” in the up-close shots.

Pregnant Alyssa Milano in a graphic dot dress at Hangover 2 premiere: cute

fp_7341988_rij_hangover2_32
I’m not going to do a cute or fug title for a pregnant lady. I might have done it with that pregnant Charlotte Gainsbourg woman who wore a sheer ruffled tie-front robe over a lacy bra to the premiere of that Nazi guy’s movie at Cannes with Kirsten Dunst. Alyssa looks cute at the Hangover 2 premiere in a graphic dot black and white dress. I would have chosen all black or white shoes, but that’s nitpicking and she’s probably going for comfort. From what I can tell she’s due around August.

fp_7341994_rij_hangover2_38

Alyssa is not in The Hangover 2, but plenty of other people who weren’t in the movie showed up too, like Kristen Bell. I really like her but she needs to ease up on the fillers a little bit. Her face is looking a little too perfect here, but it’s not bad. I love the cut of her dress although the sherbet colors kind of wash her out.

fp_7342005_rij_hangover2_49

fp_7342010_rij_hangover2_54

Also there was Kristen’s fiance, Dax Shephard. He’s not in the film either, I just like him too. Plus this picture is kind of priceless.

fp_7342011_rij_hangover2_55

We have the traditionally handsome Justin Bartha, whose role looks just about as limited as before.

fp_7342022_rij_hangover2_66

fp_7342023_rij_hangover2_67

Zach Galifianakis might be decent looking under that beard. I’m really wondering about that.

fp_7341984_rij_hangover2_28

Ed Helms’ tie is for Easter Sunday at the cheap country club.

fp_7341977_rij_hangover2_21

Jason Bateman wasn’t in this film, but I just want to say that his wife is a lucky bitch. He does not look 42 to me.

fp_7342026_rij_hangover2_70

fp_7342027_rij_hangover2_71

Robert Downey Jr.’s wife is also a lucky bitch, and she knows it and totally earned that.

fp_7342048_rij_hangover2_92

fp_7342047_rij_hangover2_91

Rain Wilson is the substitute teacher you give the side eye.

fp_7342019_rij_hangover2_63

Ken Jeong from Community is in this. He hasn’t been on the show much lately, probably because he’s been off doing Hangover stuff.

fp_7341963_rij_hangover2_07

This kid Trevor Donovan has never come to my attention before, and he’s very beautiful in that “ivy league, works at his dad’s firm, marries a beautiful woman, has 4 kids, cheats to try and recapture his youth” kind of way. He’s 32 and stars on 90210. I would have sworn he wasn’t over 24. He’s just a filler and isn’t in Hangover either.

fp_7342017_rij_hangover2_611

Let’s round this off with the star, Bradley Cooper, in a brown shiny suit. He’s really trying to work the tousled hair here. I’m kind of “meh” on Bradley. I could give or take him, and I’m not buying him as the next big star. Hollywood seems to be, though.

fp_7342041_rij_hangover2_85

fp_7342042_rij_hangover2_86

Oh and I can’t forget Crystal the monkey.

Kristen Bell loves being 30 and engaged to Dax Shephard

wenn2966899
I don’t know much about actress Kristen Bell, 30, but after reading this recent interview with her in Parade I have to say I like her! She seems really normal and like she’s just grateful to be a working actress. There’s not a lot of artifice from her, and maybe the reason we haven’t heard much about her is because she doesn’t go to every event or have much tabloid drama to speak of. Bell has been engaged to actor Dax Shephard, 35, since early this year. In Parade she gushes about Shephard and talks about how she feels more comfortable in her own skin now that she’s 30. Yes, it’s a common interview theme from actresses, but I like her take on it and how she admits that she’s been too hard on herself in the past.

Bell is promoting her new film You Again, co-starring such Hollywood luminaries as (poop goddess) Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver and Betty White. It’s out in the US on September 24. Here’s part of Bell’s interview, with more at the source:

Remembering her high-school days.
“I think I was somewhere in between popular and nerdy. I went to a very small school where the consequences of bullying were a lot more dramatic than they were at a big school. You couldn’t just walk down the hall and shove a nameless face because we all knew each other’s families. There wasn’t a stereotypical bully. But in high school, I was just very insecure because I was always so concerned that everybody liked me so I was just very sweet, a little meeker than I am now, but I was really just so hopeful that I wouldn’t fight with anybody.”

Why she’s keeping it real.
“I have no desire to put on this face of perfection. I’m constantly striving to better myself, but that’s also maybe out of intense insecurities. Feeling like I went right from high school to Hollywood, it’s essentially the same dynamic. But I can admit, I don’t always have the best style. I trip a lot, I go to therapy because I make mistakes, I just try to be as real and as well-rounded as possible because there’s nothing really that interesting about perfection. It’s been done so many times before.”

On recently turning 30.
“I love 30 more than I’ve ever loved anything. I feel like I was born on my 30th birthday. It’s finally the time where I’ve fully accepted and loved myself, which I’m realizing more and more each day — it is so important to love yourself. Because if you don’t love yourself than nothing really matters. For a long time, I went through life kind of beating myself up and trying to be a perfectionist and do everything right and I just thought, ‘What’s the point?’ I have faults, that’s fine. I can still strive to be better, but I’m not going to be as rough on myself as I used to and it’s just kind of alleviating all of this stress and kind of taken a weight off my shoulders and I think now I’m just happy.”

Finding comfort in her engagement to Dax Shepard.
“I never loved dating. I think it’s very uncomfortable to put yourself out there and be vulnerable. I’m much more comfortable in a relationship and I’m very happy.”

They’re not your typical Hollywood couple.
“I’m definitely a homebody. I don’t know if I’ve been to a club in the last seven years, at least not one that I was forced to go to because it was for a friends’ birthday party. I’m not much for the club atmosphere, but I don’t drink so that may have something to do with it! I love to cook and I have a garden at home and I’m much more like a 1950s housewife, I think.”

The shows she’s hooked on.
“I like Damages, I like Mad Men. I love 30 Rock. I really like Friday Night Lights and was over the moon when they were finally acknowledged on the Emmys this year because I think they’ve been one of the better shows on television for a while now.”

Her one guilty pleasure.
“I’m always DVR’ing Jersey Shore, but I’ve never been ashamed to admit that. I probably should be ashamed to admit that, but I’m not. I think that it’s one of the greatest disasters to ever come to television and I just love the lessons they learn each week and the trouble they get into.”

[From Parade]

See – she seems nice and normal and I like how she admits that she has trouble with her style. I’m getting mild Reese Witherspoon “type A” vibes from her, but I kind of have that personality too and appreciate it when I see it. (Bell seems a little less cutthroat than Reese, although it’s hard to tell.) I don’t know much about her fiance, Dax Shephard, but I watched him on Parenthood this season and think he’s a great actor. He’s also in a new film called The Freebie that’s getting a lot of positive buzz.

Here’s the trailer for You Again, it looks funny as hell and Kristen Chenoweth is even in it! I’ll be seeing this one.

And here’s a spoof video from Funny or Die in which Bell gets into a faux diva argument with some of her co-stars. Doesn’t Odette Yustman seem like a drama-less plastic surgery free Megan Fox? LMAO at Betty White “You might be a quarter of my age, but I’ll take you down.” That never gets old.

Here are a bunch of event pictures of Kristen from this year. Her style is hit or miss although sometimes she looks spot on. The header photo is from 8/19/10. Credit: WENN.com. Photo of Kristen and Dax together is from 7/08 credit: Ghost/Fame Pictures

Kristen Bell thinks Dax Shepard is the best she can do, ever
Premiere of Universal Pictures' "Couples Retreat" - After Party

Although I have admitted to not really “getting” Kristin Bell or why some people think she’s amazing, I do have to acknowledge that she seems like a young actress who has her act together. She acts professionally, she’s never photographed leaving some club in a drunken stupor, she doesn’t say dumb crap in interview after interview, and she seems to be quite intelligent and nice. So why does this girl think that Dax Shepard is the best she can do? Ugh. So, yeah… Kristen and Dax announced their engagement yesterday. What the hell?

Kristen Bell is engaged to Dax Shepard, her rep confirms to UsMagazine.com exclusively. Shepard, 35, proposed over the holidays, a source tells Us.

Bell, 29, debuted her ring on the red carpet of the Grammys Sunday night.

The couple first stepped out publicly in January 2008. Bell detailed her perfect date night with Shepard in the November issue of Women’s Health.

“There is almost nothing, barring a natural disaster, that I would let eat into my time at home, playing Scrabble with Dax or talking to my girlfriends,” she said.

She joked that they were competitive while filming romantic comedy When in Rome, currently in theaters.

“We were trying to one-up each other,” she said. “That’s what we do at home, too. It’s like, ‘Wait – watch me do this funny bit.’ ‘No, watch me do this funny bit!.”

The secret to their relationship?

“I’ve learned the necessity for healthy communication. How important it is to talk about your deepest, darkest fears and feelings,” she says. “Your partner should hear your most embarrassing insecurities, because once you say them out loud, you’ve created a safe zone.”

And “a snuggle party can fix anything — it’s true,” she added.

[From Us Weekly]

Bell did “show off” the engagement ring at the Grammys (photos here). It doesn’t look that big. Sigh… but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that Kristen think Dax is a keeper. This is the guy who got his start on Punk’d, for the love of God. And now we’re supposed to buy him a legitimate actor? And worthy of a television star trying to make it in film? Seriously? Besides that, every time I’ve seen him interviewed, he comes across like a total douche. I need to have a talk with Kristen.

Here’s Kristen at the Grammys. Dax wasn’t there, and you can’t see her ring. The dress sucks too. This girl needs a new stylist, in addition to everything else working against her.

Did Kristin Cavallari steal Kristen Bell’s thunder?

wenn2725667

I don’t really get the whole Kristen Bell thing. I didn’t watch Veronica Mars, so that might be a factor. I’ve seen Kristen in other things, and I’ve read interviews with her, and it’s not that I dislike her or anything. She seems like a very bright, engaged, talented girl. But why do people like her so much? She’s just kind of there. Anyway, just my opinion.

Kristen seems to be trying some fashionista moves maybe? Here she is at the LA premiere of When In Rome, that dumb looking romantic comedy also starring Josh Duhamel and Dax Shepherd. I was prepared to like this brown cut-out dress… but then I saw that the two pieces of the dress seem to be tied to together with a thick rope. Not cute.

Huffington Post points out that another Kristen kind of stole Bell’s thunder. Kristin Cavallari also went to the premiere, and she decked herself out in hot pink and killer shoes. I hate myself, but Cavallari looks amazing. This is what the star should wear when attending her own premiere.
