Did Eva Longoria mess with her face, or is her foundation just too light?

Eva Longoria
Here’s Eva Longoria last night vs. Eva Longoria a couple of months ago. She looks like a Kardashian now, doesn’t she? At first I thought that Eva might just have way too much makeup on, and that her foundation might be too light in the center of her face. She usually does that same heavy-handed makeup look, though. Her face is way puffier than usual and it’s not a simple case of weight gain (which would look good on her if it were normal) or different makeup. She looks like she’s had some fillers, and it looks really weird and unnatural to me. People are going to say she looks the same, as that’s what always happens on these plastic surgery/injectables posts. Just look at her closely first. Something is off now and she was so much prettier before!

wenn3609097

Eva was at the “Hollywood Style Awards,” and she was one of the big “gets” at the event, which also drew Mandy Moore, Khloe Kardashian (Kaiser covered her goth look here) and Kristin Davis. In terms of Eva’s look, it’s not bad. It’s a boring dress but she’s showcasing her gorgeous body at least. Eva was in Victoria Beckham, and Victoria wore that same dress in blue on the same day while out and about. Oops!

Rose McGowan’s face also looked pretty tweaked, but she always looks like this. She looks like she’s on something. Like Mandy Moore below, Rose paired red pumps with a black dress, but it’s too much on Rose with the velvet peep toes and the tiny lace-trimmed dress.

hollywood_style_awards_066_

Kristin Davis was in vintage red Azarro. That dress is kind of shapeless but I think she really pulls it off with her lovely hair and makeup. She looks so pretty! Is she wearing platform shoes though?

When did Mandy Moore get so hot? She looks great here, and I love the red shoes.

Jaime King in a colorblock sheath with a see-through bottom panel. That dress might work with different shoes, but the solid chunky shoes just ruin it! I’m not a fan of the high bun that’s so popular lately.

Kyle and Kendall Jenner (Kardashian). They’re still just 16 and 14. Just wait, they’re going to be all over the place soon.

Kristin Davis adopted a baby girl named Gemma Rose Davis

wenn3279368

Exciting news for Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis – she just became a mom! Well, not “just”. Apparently, Kristin adopted a little girl through a domestic adoption process several months ago. Kristin named the baby girl Gemma Rose Davis. As far as I know, Kristin is not in a relationship with a man or a woman (there are rumors that she’s a lesbian, but I’ve never seen anything confirmed), so I’m assuming Kristin will be raising Gemma as a single mom. She issued a statement (and a photo, here) to People Mag:

Kristin Davis is a new mom!

The Sex and the City star, 46, welcomed daughter Gemma Rose Davis through domestic adoption a few months ago, PEOPLE has confirmed exclusively.

“This is something I have wanted for a very long time,” Davis tells PEOPLE. “Having this wish come true is even more gratifying than I ever had imagined. I feel so blessed.”

Davis, who is a global ambassador for Oxfam and a patron for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, will next be seen in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

[From People]

Congratulations to Kristin! I like it when celebrities fly under the radar so effectively. Kristin is never in the tabloids, even when she’s promoting something. While the Sex & the City set was, at times, consumed by a catfight between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, I never heard anything about Kristin fighting with any of her costars, on that series or any project. So… my verdict is that she’s just the kind of sweet, stable and charitable woman who should be a mom.

The Sex and The City gang bring their dog and pony show to Japan

Cast members Parker and Cattrall attend the Japan premiere of Sex and the City 2 in Tokyo
The Sex and The City ladies are continuing their tour promoting soulless conspicuous consumption and offensive throwaway plot lines. They were seen in Japan toasting their fat paychecks and fabulous outfits. Despite the terrible reviews and mediocre box office performance the show must go on.

Earlier today we reported that Sex and The City 2 was second at the box office this holiday weekend. When Monday was included, the film was actually third, with Shrek 4 in the lead and Prince of Persia second. Kaiser pointed me to this amusing recap of the Memorial Day box office results on Gawker, which makes the scary conclusion that we may be in for yet another Sex and The City if the numbers are right. I’ll quote from Box Office Mojo on how the movie performed as expected for a sequel, especially one as shabbily made as this:

Cast member Cattrall attends the Japan premiere of Sex and the City 2 in Tokyo

Sex and the City 2 notched an estimated $37.1 million four-day weekend on approximately 6,100 screens at 3,445 locations, bringing its total to $51.4 million since its Thursday debut. That’s a huge step backwards from the first Sex and the City, which bagged $57 million on its first three-day weekend and had $68.1 million by day five. Distributor Warner Bros.’ exit polling indicated that a whopping 90 percent of Sex 2′s audience was female, and 54 percent was under 35 years old. By comparison, the first Sex’s opening weekend audience was 83 percent female.

Prince of Persia and Sex and the City 2 ranked a lowly 15th and 17th, respectively, among Memorial Day opening weekends and, in terms of estimated attendance, they wouldn’t even crack the Top 25. Based on their content and marketing, though, it would have been unreasonable to expect otherwise.

People seem to lose their heads in regards to sequels, but, aside from aberrations like The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Sex and the City 2 was closer to the way sequels are supposed to behave, though the movie’s marketers exacerbated the situation with a severe case of “sequelitis.” They assumed that the brand name was all they needed for another summer hit, delivering an utterly inessential and random sequel after the first movie tidily wrapped up the storylines. It’s a wonder that they didn’t subtitle the movie “The Legend of Carrie’s Shoes.”

[From Box Office Mojo]

I’ve passed a lot of time laughing at the terrible reviews of Sex and The City 2, with my favorite coming from Dustin Rowles at Pajiba. He likens SATC to Transformers 2 for women, but with designer duds instead of Megan Fox’s bouncing butt. There were so many excellent lines in his review it’s hard to know which ones to quote. My favorite was this one, “There’s a definite narrative pattern in SATC 2: Each of the four women does something banal individually, followed by a scene in which they get together and process that banality, usually while drinking and wearing something colorful or with feathers.” Kaiser’s favorite part was this:

If you were so inclined, there’s a lot you could take offense to here: Their disrespect of the culture, the extravagance they are afforded (they each get their own luxury car and their own butler), and the way they choose to comport themselves — not just in Abu Dhabi, but in the entire movie — while the country is mired in a recession. Is it tactless to release a movie that glorifies consumption during hard economic times? It seems like a petty complaint to lob against a Hollywood movie, which are often about wish fulfillment. But it’s an easy critique to offer up. Most offensive of all to me, however, were the groan-worthy puns and the hideous word play littered throughout the film (“Abu Dhabi Doo!” “Bedouin, Bath and Beyond,” “Lawrence of my Labia”).

[From Dustin Rowles at Pajiba]

So have you seen Sex and The City 2 and was it a semi-pleasurable way to waste two and a half hours? Could you turn off your brain and just drool at the shoes and clothes? Like men looking for T&A, there are much better ways to get some (online) than paying someone $10 to deliver it to you with a thin plot. I like my shoe and fashion porn silent.

Note: The term “Dog and Pony Show” is not meant as a negative reference to any of the actresses’ features. It’s meant as a traveling circus, and according to WikipediaThe term has come to mean an elaborately staged performance, presentation, or event designed to sway or convince people. It is often used in reference to a series of informational events put on by a company or group.”

Did Kristin Davis lose weight, or was she Photoshopped to hell?

fitness

I love Kristin Davis. I’ve loved her since Melrose Place, and I ended up loving the Charlotte character on Sex and the City – the television show, not the film. One of the reasons I’ve always adored Kristin is that she always had a “realistic” body type and she seemed to own it. She’s “pear-shaped” I suppose – with bigger hips, thighs and booty on an otherwise small, slender frame. Though SATC was so heavy on the fashion porn, I always appreciated that they tried to keep Charlotte grounded in fashion reality, to a point. She always had the best clothes, I thought, great shifts and pencil skirts and pieces that emphasized her curves. So it with consternation that I’m looking at Kristin’s cover of Fitness Magazine. Is this her body? I don’t remember her body looking like this. Her top half, sure, I’ll buy it. But Kristin is a girl with some hips and thighs. Did she lose a lot of weight? Judging from her interview, it doesn’t sound like it. Kristin talks about how much she enjoys food, so the Photoshopped cover makes for an interesting dichotomy:

Here’s the skinny: Kristin Davis has embraced her curves.

“I’m never going to be the thinnest actress, and I don’t want to be,” the Sex and the City star, 45 (the sequel hits theaters May 27), tells the May issue of Fitness. “I have hips!”

Davis admits it was “very intimidating” to slip into a bikini for the mag’s cover.

“There are people who feel comfortable in bathing suits, and I don’t know how they do it,” she says. “I worked with Kristen Bell and Malin Akerman on the movie Couples Retreat, and they didn’t care about standing around in their bikinis for days. The guys in the movie were more self-conscious than they were!”

Davis — who has been running since her days on Melrose Place, and even taught yoga when she first moved to L.A. — tries to keep a healthy diet.

“I eat a lot of chicken, salmon, eggs and side salads. But if all I ate were salads every day, I’d shoot myself,” she says. “Who cares if you can fit in your skinny jeans if you can’t enjoy life and have something good to eat? I went through periods when I said I can’t have this, I can’t have that. Now I don’t deprive myself. Food is meant to be enjoyed.”

The actress — who will host the More/Fitness Women’s Half Marathon in New York City’s Central Park on April 25 — does indulge in M&Ms and ice cream in the summer.

“One trick I’ve learned is that if I have an ice cream bar, I’m OK having four bites and then throwing it away,” she says. “I don’t need to eat the whole thing to feel satisfied.”

When asked about the worst rumor she’s read about herself, Davis says, “That the cast of Sex and the City hates one another. We’re standing so close during filming that we touch for 18 hours a day, and then people want to say we don’t get along. It’s the funniest thing in the world.”

She even hits the gym occasionally with Sarah Jessica Parker, 45.

“Sarah Jessica doesn’t need a support buddy. She’s one of the most motivated people I’ve ever met, and she has an amazing body even when she doesn’t work out; though, like the rest of us, she doesn’t feel that way,” Davis says.

[From Us Weekly]

Ugh, is that what happened? Kristin started looking at Sarah Jessica Parker and thought, “I want to look like that”? Please, no. SJP used to have a really amazing figure too – and I bought that it was just her genes and her active lifestyle. But in recent appearances, something has taken a turn for the worse. Anyway, I tend to think that Kristin still has the same basic figure she had during the show, and this cover was probably Photoshopped like crazy.

Why do the ‘Sex & the City’ ladies look so forced, so off their game?
ShoWest 2010 Awards Ceremony - Arrivals

This is barely a story, but I was just enjoying the hell out of the photos. The Sex and the City girls, minus Kim Cattrall, all went to Las Vegas for the Showest Convention, and the photos are priceless. I mean, sure, these are beautiful women. Sort of. I love both Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, and I think they both look great. Sarah Jessica Parker on the other hand… well, the black Marchesa dress is pretty enough, but check out how SJP really feels about these bitches:

Katherine Heigl at The Closing Night Ceremony of SHOWEST in Las Vegas

Kim wasn’t at the event because she’s doing the play Private Lives in London. And she probably hates these bitches too. No, I jest! They love each other, right? By the way, they’re standing around with an award because they actually won one. SJP, Nixon and Davis picked up the “Best Ensemble” award for this Sex and the City sequel that’s coming out months from now.

Would you like to see what these ladies wore to the earlier Showest event? It might blind you, this bad fashion:

Showest 2010 - Warner Brothers Presentation Day

Why would they all choose to wear such ugly prints? Did they talk about it beforehand? What does SJP really think about these prints?

Cynthia Nixon, Sara Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis at WB Presentation Day at Showest

Yeah, I thought so. Can I just say this – I think the promotion of this film is going to be epic. And hilarious, if these photos are any indication. It just feels so forced, like everyone is off their game, big time.

And finally, a little shoe-porn to take us out:

The Sex and The City 2 trailer isn’t intriguing or entertaining

A lot of new trailers are coming out this Christmas movie season. After watching the trailer for the Sex and The City sequel, above, I have to say it looks like more of the same one dimensional fluff that ruined the first movie. The last movie was decent, but it just felt like a thin rehash of the show with more focus on the lifestyle and material goods. In the trailer we have Carrie poised to play some kind of pseudo celebrity with the other ladies as her entourage. There’s also a head-scratching trip to the desert. I hope they’re headed to a mall in Dubai, because these women would look less out of place on a camping trip. (The scenes were filmed in Morocco, but there’s no telling where they’re supposed to be.)

They should have put this series to bed after the last movie. It made money at the box office though so they’re going to squeeze every dollar out of it. I’m glad they’re making films aimed at older women, but do they have to be as watered down and mediocre as this? Some of us liked the strong friendships in the show more than all the label worship.

Spoiler for last movie and mild spoilers for next one
In the last film, I was really disappointed that Carrie got back together with Big after he abandoned her at the altar. She went back to their old apartment for some shoes and picked Big up again like a shopping addiction she couldn’t quit. The show had a real chance to show Carrie’s friends rallying around her and helping her get through the breakup. Instead, Carrie fought with Miranda over a dumb issue in which she blamed Miranda for Big’s inability to commit. The film was a big let down, but they’re going to throw some more “labels and love” at us, in that order. Or is it just “love for labels”? Who am I kidding. I’m going to go see it for sure.

Sex and The City 2 is out on May 28, 2010 and will feature cameos from Penelope Cruz, Miley Cyrus, Tim Gunn and Liza Minnelli. John Corbett will probably reprise his role as Aiden as he was spotted in Morocco around the time they were filming. Sarah Jessica Parker would neither confirm or deny his involvement, but she did say that Jennifer Hudson won’t be back as her assistant. Parker called the sequel a “caper” and an “antidote” to the “sadness” in the last movie. Some of us want an antidote to the cloying superficiality of the show, but you know that’s never going to happen. We’re just supposed to embrace it I guess.

Sex and the City fashion: totally ’80s

fp_3580177_sex_and_the_city_scp_090909

In case you hadn’t heard, the Sex and the City movie is filming all over the place. Can’t you just hear Sarah Jessica Parker’s girlish scream and she runs in her four-inch Monolos? Oh, yes. And for this film, no one seems to be concerned about spoilers are revealing whatever meager plotlines or anything like that. Every time I see a picture from the set (“the set” = Manhattan), I just think “Thank God I’m not going to have to pay to see this movie.”

Most of these pictures have been all over the place, and many of you have probably seen them, but here they are all in one place! It seems we’re going to be treated to some kind of Sex and the City: Totally ‘80s flashback sequence. I’ve said it before, but my favorite has always been Miranda. I’m getting a kick out of her ‘80s blowout, shoulder pads and Working Girl gear. And is that a bowl cut I spy? She looks amazing, but oh, no. Honey, just no. Also – is it weird that 1980s Charlotte (Kristen Davis) does not look any different? Her kind of prim-and-proper yuppie style really doesn’t look weird – she ends up looking classic.

I could do without Sarah Jessica Parker’s Madonna-esque girdle-as-outerwear look, but I’m kind of digging the flash of flannel. It’s like Carrie Bradshaw knew grunge was coming, and she wanted to give Seattle (the other “sexy city”) a shout-out. Carrie is such a trendsetter.

Of course, the best ‘80s transformation goes to Kim Cattrall. I’m not even sure what this look is. Debbie Harry meets Joey Ramone meets Vivenne Westwood? Is it supposed to be punk? Is it supposed to be glam? Is it supposed to be this hideous? Believe it or not, I remember parts of the 1980s – my age was in the single digits, but I don’t remember women’s fashion being this horrible. Where’s the old-school Gianni Versace? Where are the parachute pants? Can a girl get some jelly bracelets?

Here are the girls filming in Manhattan yesterday. Images thanks to WENN.com and Fame Pictures .

Sex and the City sequel a go

2008_sex_and_the_city_027
It has just been announced that there will in fact be a new Sex and the City movie. There have been rumors flying about a sequel for a while now, but none of the actresses had officially confirmed or denied it. Now the writer, Michael Patrick King, has confirmed that he and all of the ladies have signed on for another movie.

SATC writer-director Michael Patrick King confirms the scoop! In an exclusive statement, King says, “I’m very excited to work with these amazing actresses again and would love to give everyone more information about the sequel…but I’m busy with my ‘Sex’ life.”

“Everything was finalized yesterday afternoon,” a source reports.

Until now, everyone had agreed to do a sequel, but there were no contracts signed with New Line, the studio behind the megahit.

As it is, King has yet to write a script, but shooting will reportedly begin this summer with a release date sometime in summer 2010.

Reps for the stars and the studio did not immediately comment.

In its first weekend alone, Sex and the City opened with almost $58 million in ticket sales, reportedly making it the biggest R-rated comedy opener ever. Budget to make the movie? A cool $65 million.

Quick recap in case you were one of the few who missed it: When we last left Carrie, she had married Mr. Big even after he left her at the altar. Samantha and her young beau (Jason Lewis) split, while Miranda and Steve (David Eigenberg) patched things up after he cheated on her. Charlotte and Harry (Evan Handler) not only adopted a baby girl, but Charlotte gave birth to a second daughter.

[from E Online]

For a month after the first Sex and the City movie came out, there were lines out the door at the movie theaters near my house, full of teenagers and twenty-somethings in cocktail dresses. Some of them were drunk from too many Cosmos. With the last movie having done so well, you can only assume that the studio was ready to do another as soon as the credits rolled – they just needed to wait a little until the hype from the first one died down. Now they can start building up the tension again with “unofficial” photos from on-set and “leaked” scripts. I’ll guarantee that in spite of, or perhaps because of, the recession, audiences are more than willing to spend $10 to watch wealthy New Yorkers running around in their new Jimmy Choos.

NY Post says Cynthia Nixon got new boobs, but she had cancer & they’re same size

The NY Post is reporting today that Sex and The City co-stars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon both underwent elective “minor surgeries” at the same hospital. These two are close friends, with Nixon saying on Oprah that Davis was the first person she told about her same sex relationship with Christine Marinoni. This makes sense because friends often influence each other to get work done.

In Nixon and Davis’ case, though, Nixon is said to have had a breast augmentation while Davis had varicose veins on her legs removed.

Apparently, soon after the movie’s release, [Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis] both paid a visit to Roosevelt Hospital on 10th Avenue for minor surgeries. “Cynthia had a breast augmentation and soon after, Kristin had the varicose veins on her legs removed,” said an insider. “They both made sure they did it on the quietest day of the week.” It could explain why Davis always wears long hems. Nixon, whose rep denied the surgery, could have been disappointed with her topless scene. Davis’ rep had no comment.

[From The NY Post]

Cynthia Nixon’s rep denies the story so it’s probably not true. Her boobs were visible for a few seconds in the Sex and The City movie and they looked great. They’re smallish and perky and she looked hot in a sex scene in the film, which kind of surprised me at how explicit it was. She deserves a lot of credit for agreeing to appear topless and for working the great boobs she has.

Nixon also appeared at an event on Tuesday and it doesn’t look like her breast size has changed at all, so I don’t think this story is true. Given the timeline they mention, Nixon had the surgery “soon after the movie’s release” and not this week.

Nixon had breast cancer two years ago and it’s possible she had a procedure to correct something related to that. She had a “very small spot” that was discovered in a routine mammogram removed along with six and a half weeks of radiation and is now cancer free. Judging from her breast size, which is about the same, she didn’t have an enlargement. Nixon is now a spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen foundation and emphasizes the importance of early breast cancer detection.

Cynthia Nixon is shown on 6/17/08 at “The Public Theater’s Annual Gala and the Opening Night of Hamlet at Shakespeare in the Park held at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park” thanks to WENN.

Lauren Hutton says SATC movie was written by male sluts

The new Sex and the City movie is causing a lot of controversy, with people saying it is bad publicity for New York, and that the ladies are too airbrushed in the publicity stills. Lauren Hutton, 64-year-old actress and model, had her own opinion to add.

She said, “It’s written by guys, who happen to be gay, who are sluts. That’s what I think.

“Let’s face it most men are sluts. That’s what testosterone is supposed to do. As a hunter, if you stayed alive after 30, nature wanted your genes out there. Women were just trying to get the best sperm to make a masterpiece.

“You have a bunch a guys who are sluts, writing for women and telling them they are supposed to act like this.”

The Today Show via San Francisco Chronicle

I’m not even going to touch the ‘gay’ remark, or the fact that I don’t think every man on the planet is a slut, but I will point out that Sex and the City had several female writers as well as men, and was based on a book written by a woman. I’m also going to assume that she meant the sperm was going to be used to make a baby, not an actual piece of art.

I found Lauren’s comments interesting because they came on the same day as this article in the New York Daily News, talking about New York women and their number of sex partners.

Everyone has a “number.” But how many is too many and were the “Sex and the City” women oversexed?

Definitely – compared to the average American woman, who has nine sex partners in a lifetime, according to a survey by the Durex brand of condoms. But compared to the average New Yorker, they were right on target.

According to Karyn Bosnak, who researched the topic for her novel “20 Times a Lady” – about a New Yorker who vows to have sex with a maximum of 20 men – the typical New York City woman’s number is twice the national average.

“Women in other parts of the country tend to get married much younger. It’s not a big deal to be single in your 30s in New York,” says Bosnak, “There’s also the anonymity factor. You can date men from different social circles here. If you have 20 sex partners and you live in a small, rural town, that’s not good.

“I stopped counting at 56,” says Christine, 35, a locations director from Bayside who lives in SoHo. “There are so many opportunities to meet men here – bars, restaurants, clubs, walking down the street, the deli. Men are everywhere.”

New York Daily News

FYI, Samantha had 42 partners, Carrie and Charlotte had 18, and Miranda had 17.

I’m not sure why this movie is causing so much controversy, except perhaps that
it features middle-aged women who are being portrayed as sexy, when normally those roles are given to twenty-something actresses. Sarah Jessica Parker herself won’t say no to a sequel, saying that at 43 and with a family, “it’s been the real last year of my life professionally.”

Sarah Jessica Parker is shown outside the Today Show yesterday, 5/29/08. Lauren Hutton is shown at an opening at the Broad Contemporary Art Museum on 2/9/08. Thanks to WENN.
