Lindsay Lohan is probably going to jail, finally
Lindsay Lohan Heads To NYC!

These are photos of Lindsay Lohan headed to New York yesterday. She looks… healthy. Ugh. Is this rock bottom? I know we ask that practically every week, but Lindsay is seriously not looking good. She’s not going to be feeling good either, once whatever this (above) is wears off and she’s faced with this news: her ass is likely going to be sent to jail. TMZ reports that Lindsay has violated the terms of her probation, and the judge is one of those “send her dumbass to jail” types who will probably follow through. Say your prayers. For the judge, I mean:

Lindsay Lohan has violated the terms of her probation and is headed for a showdown in court next month that will almost certainly land her in jail.

Lohan — who is on probation for DUI — has not fulfilled the alcohol education requirement laid down by the judge … TMZ has learned.

Judge Marsha Revel made it clear to Lindsay late last year, she must attend alcohol ed courses once every 7 days. The only exception — if she was in inpatient rehab. And the judge was explicit … if Lindsay did not comply with the terms of probation, she was going to jail.

The school in which Lindsay enrolled is required by state law to inform the court only if the student is MIA for 21 days. So here’s the disconnect: The school has not reported an attendance violation … because Lindsay frequently waited until the 21st day to attend classes.

Bottom line — Lindsay met the school’s requirement, but squarely violated the judge’s order.

We’ve learned what’s going to come out at Lindsay’s progress hearing on May 20 — that she has habitually violated the judge’s requirement to attend classes at least once every 7 days.

Judge Revel has made it clear to Lindsay — no more chances. If probation is violated, she’s going to jail … and probation was repeatedly violated.

We asked Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, for comment and received the following email: “We have received no negative written report from the program and contend Ms. Lohan is therefore in compliance.” Good lawyering for sure, because — as we just told you — the program may not have a problem with Lindsay, but the judge is going to have a big problem.

[From TMZ]

Oh, a technicality! That’s rich. Wouldn’t it be funny (disturbing) if Lindsay got sent to jail on a motherf-cking technicality? That the only thing standing in between Lindsay and the big house is a judge’s whim? Sometimes I really hate our justice system.

By the way, I put this in the links yesterday, but it’s worth repeating: Lindsay turned down a $1 million offer to appear on Celebrity Rehab. Honestly, though, I can’t say I blame her. I don’t think I would take $1 million to hang out with Dr. Drew either. That man makes my skin itch. Lindsay can’t say that though, because her skin always itches. Because of all of the drugs.

Lindsay Lohan, puffy vampire, ditches deposition to go shopping

lohan_shopping_switch_003_wenn5460562

I haven’t looked at photos of Lindsay Lohan in a few days, and I’m struck by how drastically different she looks from day to day. Especially in day to night situations – I’m just realizing that I’ve only been seen photos of Lindsay at night for the past few months. Now that I’m looking at her in daylight – she looks like a vampire, doesn’t she? All pale and squinty. She’s puffy too – like she’s been on a month-long (years-long) bender. Anyway, these are photos of Lindsay from yesterday, as she shopped at boutique Switch, picking up some more clothes and jewelry to hoard. She looks like she doesn’t have a care in the world, right? Not so much. This shopping excursion was what Lindsay did instead of appearing for a scheduled deposition in that lawsuit about her holding those dudes hostage in 2007. Bailing on your deposition to by more sh-t to be a cracked-out hoarder? Priceless:

Lindsay Lohan has bailed on a deposition in the court case in which she’s being sued for allegedly holding three men hostage in an SUV. Never a good idea. The train wreck being sued over the 2007 incident -in which she allegedly hijacked an SUV – with three men and a baggie of cocaine inside. Also not good.

According to witnesses, she allegedly took the wheel and chased another car from Malibu to Santa Monica … where she was ultimately arrested for DUI.

This morning, Lindsay showed up to a lawyer’s office in an SUV, as a passenger with no coke (probably) this time, but there was a scheduling conflict.

Lawyers for the three men (and the lawyer for one of the women in the car) wanted to grill Lindsay all day, but Lindsay said she only had a few hours.

What conflict could Lindsay Lohan have? She has no job whatsoever!

So, after showing up an hour and a half late, Linds bailed without even getting out of the SUV. The plaintiffs’ lawyers apparently told her if she wouldn’t show up for her deposition for the full day … she shouldn’t bother at all.

No word on when or if the meeting was rescheduled, whether Lohan was drunk at the time (not a bad assumption by any means) or whether she will be in a 5150 hold the next time the plaintiffs attempt to depose her.

[From The Hollywood Gossip]

At this point, it might be too much to hope for Lindsay actually paying some kind of penalty for being such a spastic mess. Who goes shopping when you’re supposed to be deposed? With the paparazzi taking photos of your dumb ass the whole time? It’s not like you can go in and be like, “Oh, I was sick, I didn’t feel well, that’s why I didn’t show up.” No, Lindsay’s excuse will be, “See, I’m a cracked-out hoarder, and I had to buy some more sh-t I won’t wear, just because. And I was hungover and I’m a vampire. And a milkaholic. And a child.”

Padma Lakshmi really doesn’t care for her baby-daddy at all
Pampers Dry Max Launch Party New York City

It was only back a few weeks ago that we finally got any kind of confirmation that Padma Lakshmi’s baby-daddy was in fact the age-appropriate and generally attractive venture capitalist Adam Dell (photos here). Padma didn’t confirm the identity herself – but People Magazine and Page Six did some digging, and it seemed like Dell himself was telling people that he was the father of baby Krishna. Of course, he was generally telling people in the context of “Hey, do you know a good custodial issues lawyer? Because Padma won’t let me see the kid.” Yes, it seems Padma has little to no interest in having Adam in her life, or in Krishna’s life. Now a “source” is telling People the reasoning behind Padma’s decisions:

Since Adam Dell was revealed as the biological father of Padma Lakshmi’s baby daughter Krishna earlier this month, the venture capitalist has been trying to “get back into [Lakshmi's] life,” says a friend.

But the Top Chef host, who gave birth on Feb. 20, is not open to the idea.

“Her relationship with Dell was nothing more than an on-again, off-again fling. She moved on months ago,” the source says. “The only role he will have in her life going forward is as the biological father of her child. She wants nothing more to do with him.”

Ever since Lakshmi, 39, announced her pregnancy in October she has remained mum about the father’s identity. And when stories surfaced naming Dell – whose tycoon brother Michael founded computer-manufacturing company Dell Inc. – as the dad, Lakshmi still wasn’t ready to discuss their relationship.

“I have a newborn,” Lakshmi told PEOPLE at the time. “I just want some peace and privacy.”

Meanwhile, the fact that Dell, 40, hired a publicist raised eyebrows with Lakshmi. Her friend calls the move “a disgrace.”

A source close to Dell said he is merely “seeking more liberal visitation rights with his child,” and denied that he is trying to be back in Lakshmi’s life.

“Adam … signed an agreement spelling out visitation and should live by it,” Lakshmi’s friend says. “Padma is.”

[From People]

Oh, meow! This is some good gossip, and I believe every word of it. It’s People Mag after all – this is Padma’s version of events. Now, do I believe that Padma is so super-organized that she already got Adam to sign away custody? Kind of. I’m not up on all of the technicalities of custody issues, but if Padma and Adam weren’t married, and she went through the pregnancy and birth totally on her own, I don’t think Adam has a lot of room to try to push through any kind of joint custody or anything like that. Correct me if I’m wrong, lawyers!

Oh, I really want these jeans that she’s wearing. Perfect wash.

Blogger alleges that Jake Gyllenhaal shoved a girl
82ND ACADEMY AWARDS, RED CARPET ARRIVALS

Over the weekend, there was a rumor floating around that Jake Gyllenhaal beat up a girl. The whole story originated at Drunken Stepfather (NSFW site), where one of their bloggers claimed that he (the blogger is a dude) went up to Jake and asked, “Aren’t you the guy who kissed Heath Ledger?” To which Jake allegedly went crazy, and ordered security to take away the blogger dude. The blogger went on to allege that Jake “shoved” one of the girls the blogger was with. Of course, Drunken Stepfather then changed both the blogger’s words (to “Hey isn’t that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?”) and the name of the original post (from “Jake Gyllenhaal is a F-ggot of the day” to “Jake Gyllenhaal Pushes Girls Around of the Day”). E! News sums up the situation:

Did Jake Gyllenhaal roughhouse with a woman this weekend?

No, we don’t mean in the fun way, babes. There’s a report going around that the Prince of Persia star got into a little altercation up in Montreal over the weekend.

And we’re here to sort things out for you…

The alleged incident supposedly went down Saturday night at restaurant Garde-Manger.
Apparently Gyllenhaal was dancing on the bench of his table with a group of pals, ticking off a blogger from DrunkenStepfather a few feet away who found the show to be quite egocentric.

Said blogger then went up to Jake’s table, turned to a girl there and goes (according the blogger himself): “Hey isn’t that the guy who kissed Heath Ledger?”

Gyllenhaal apparently got in the guys face, told him to f–ck off and got the dude escorted out of the club. Only problem is in this he-said, he-said tale is that the blogger also claims his female guest was pushed about 10 times by Gyllenhaal before J.G.’s crew pulled him away.

Gyllenhaal’s rep claims blogger’s story is “libelous” and informs us his lawyers are taking “immediate action.”

And for more info on what really went down, here’s what we’ve learned:

Jake was definitely at the restaurant Saturday night (he’s a regular there) as was the blogger. Main discrepancy here? We’re told by sources who were present that the blogger in question said, “Hey isn’t that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?” prompting Jake to yell to the bouncers “get these guys out of my face.”

The instigator and his crew were then thrown out.

We originally read this blog post yesterday, where the site definitely had “killed” not “kissed” up until it was later changed. The post actually backs up this supposed kill claim by ranting in the item that if Jake was Ledger’s friend, he probably would have been there for him in his low point.

Seriously can’t say we blame Gyllenhaal’s heated reaction. “Isn’t that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?” Not a funny joke, dude. We wish punches were thrown.

As for this girl who was supposedly caught in the crossfire? Onlookers tell us “there were a bunch of girls” there but “no one was shoved or hurt.”

Jake is currently in Montreal filming Source Code, which won’t be affected by this nonincident. We hear filming has been going “great” up there before this.

[From E! News]

Currently, Drunken Stepfather still has the story up, and they added a new one basically claiming to stand by the story, and publishing the letter sent by Jake’s lawyer, which in a nut shell claims: “the story is entirely false. Specific false and defamatory statements in your story include, without limitation, the claims that he was “making out” with a girl in the restaurant, that he threatened you, and, most damaging of all, that he pushed the girl who was with you into a table at least ten times before his crew held him back and that he “pretty much hit a girl.” As you know, none of this is true, and there was no physical contact between Mr. Gyllenhaal and the girl in question – nothing that could under any interpretation be described as hitting her or shoving her. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of irresponsible journalism.” DS responds:

“I know what happened. I know what I saw. I don’t really care whether his profession Lawyers, managers, Publicists and other keepers say it didn’t….

I wasn’t the drunk one dancing on bars like a fool. I saw what I saw. I witnessed what I witnessed and telling my story is not defamation of character, it is free press, I am allowed to say what I saw as a first hand account of the events that took place if I was in fact there…I love that they are telling me what I saw, or at least trying to tell me what I saw because rich and powerful people can create my reality if it involves their client…If he doesn’t want to be called someone who shoves girls…he shouldn’t shove girls….especially since he only lost his mind after I made a comment to a person he was with, not even directly to him…

What I can tell you is that when he got in my face I thought it was a joke…but when he hurt and scared the girl I was with for telling him to calm down and even made her cry…it was no longer that funny…

I hate how celebrities think they are above the law, that they can do what they “erase” events I witnessed, that they try to destroy the little credibility I have while using scare tactics cuz I don’t come from a rich Hollywood family…”

[From Drunken Stepfather]

Ugh. I don’t really know who to believe, especially since DS’s story changed to reflect the kissing/killing problem. I believe Jake would get angry if someone said something to him about “killing Heath Ledger”. I believe that Jake would try to get that guy thrown out. I believe that Jake would probably try to get the guy’s friends thrown out too. BUT… shoving a girl? Eh. I just doubt it. Of course, I also think DS is generally horribly offensive, so maybe I’m just one of those sensitive types!

Conrad Murray stopped CPR on Michael Jackson to get rid of evidence

Michael Jackson's doctor charged with involuntary manslaughter in Los Angeles
If there was any doubt that Michael Jackson’s physician, Conrad Murray, didn’t know that administering propofol was a crime, the new details revealed about what really happened at the time of the pop star’s death will remove it. According to an eye witness, Murray stopped administering CPR to Jackson to dispose of vials of the drug that was responsible for his death. Other chilling details: Jackson’s children, Prince and Paris, entered the room and saw their father dying.

According to bodyguard Alberto Alvarez (right), Dr. Murray stopped CPR and handed Alvarez drug vials and told him to put the vials in a bag.

Alvarez told investigators when he went into the room he saw an IV attached to Jackson’s leg. Also Jackson’s mouth and eyes were wide open and there was no sign of life.

According to the AP, Michael Jackson’s kids, Prince and Paris, entered the room and cried as they watched Dr. Murray administer mouth-to-mouth.

According to Alvarez, Dr. Murray took several vials and told Alvarez to put them in a plastic bag, then told Alvarez to put the plastic bag in a canvas bag. Alvarez also says Dr. Murray told him to remove the IV that contained a white milky substance (Propofol has this quality) in another canvas bag. Alvarez didn’t say where the bags went.

The report says, after Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center, Murray said he needed to go back to the mansion to get cream Jackson had “so the world wouldn’t find out about it.” The statement did not get more specific.

As TMZ first reported, Alvarez — who called 911 — told cops several months after Jackson’s death that Dr. Murray hid bottles of Propofol in a closet so family members and cops wouldn’t find them.

Sources connected with Dr. Murray’s defense say the doctor didn’t hide anything.

[From TMZ]

Meanwhile, Murray’s legal team is trying to cast aspersions on the L.A. prosecutors trying the involuntary manslaughter case, stating that they are deliberately withholding files. If anyone is withholding information, it’s not the prosecutors!

I’m not saying that CPR could have saved Jackson at that time. It sounds like he was already gone. But a doctor’s first priority is to try to revive the patient, even if the odds are against him. Clearly, Murray was looking to save his own ass. And just thinking about what those children saw that day is very upsetting.

Charlie Sheen pleads not guilty on domestic violence charges

infphoto_1218719

On Monday, March 15, Charlie Sheen pleaded not guilty to the one felony charge and two misdemeanor charges leveled against him by the Aspen, Colorado district attorney’s office. The charges stem, of course, from the alleged, alcohol-soaked Christmas beating he gave wife Brooke Mueller. Officially, it was Charlie’s lawyer Richard Cummins who entered the not guilty plea on Charlie’s behalf. The trial won’t be until July.

In addition to that, Radar has word that Charlie has hired a new lawyer to represent him for this case. This guy, Steve Cochran, has a reputation as a celebrity heavy-hitter, and his other clients have included Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and Forest Whitaker, amongst others. Here’s more, from Radar:

With his freedom hanging in the balance, Charlie Sheen has hired a new, high-powered Los Angeles lawyer to help defend him in his domestic violence case, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Sheen hired Steve Cochran, a well-known L.A. criminal defense lawyer who has worked on many high-profile cases including defending Michael Jackson. RadarOnline.com learned that Sheen wanted more firepower in the courtroom. Richard Cummins has been Sheen’s lead attorney until now.

Cochran will be admitted pro hac vice to assist in Sheen’s defense Monday. Pro hac vice is a term used “for the moment” that allows a lawyer to practice in another jurisdiction.
It is unclear if Cummins will remain as the lead attorney but sources tell RadarOnline.com that Team Sheen believed they needed a “more high powered” attorney on the case for the Two and a Half Men actor.

Cochran left Jackson’s defense team in 2004 for unspecified reasons. Thomas Mesereau Jr. continued to represent Michael, who was acquitted. Cochran represented Jackson on many matters, including in 1993 when the singer was accused of child molestation. He has also represented Sheen previously, Britney Spears, Forest Whitaker and other tops stars.

Colorado has been cracking down on domestic violence cases and as RadarOnline.com reported Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin will not accept a plea bargain from Sheen that does not include a felony charge. Sheen will not plead to a felony but would be willing to make a deal pleading to misdemeanors in exchange for no jail time, sources told RadarOnline.com.

But with both sides at a stalemate the court action gets underway on Monday with Sheen’s arraignment. The actor will face jail time if convicted. RadarOnline.com learned exclusively he will contend that the violence and threats never occurred and that his wife’s drug problems make her words unbelievable.

Sheen, who has returned to work on his TV series, had been in rehab for several weeks because he had started drinking alcohol again and using cocaine.

Brooke Mueller recently went into rehab, is addicted to crack and is an alcoholic. She has been in rehab more than five times over the years, RadarOnline.com learned. Mueller does not want to cooperate with prosecutors. Her 911 call will be a key piece of the the prosecution case but the defense will counter by saying she was drunk at 8:30 in the morning and also on crack.

[From Radar]

To me it seems like Charlie is really serious about not going to jail and not being forced into some kind of alcohol or domestic violence program. And you know what? If he’s got the money for these big-time lawyers, chances are the lawyers will drown the local, civil servant district attorney’s office in paperwork. I don’t think Charlie is going to jail. I don’t think Charlie is going to be forced into going into any kind of program. I think Charlie is back to drinking, doing coke, and bangin’ hookers, and that’s what he intends to keep doing. Just my theory!

Michael Douglas was never a sex addict, but was a bad father

mdvf

Last week, Michael Douglas’s 30-year-old son Cameron had his hearing last week on the felony drug charges he’s facing. At the hearing, Cameron’s lawyers pretty much blamed Michael for all of his addiction and legal problems. Now, while I’ll buy that Cameron probably had a very screwed childhood, and that addictive personalities run in families, at the age of 30 years old, it’s a little tired to continue to blame your daddy. Meanwhile, Michael is blaming himself too in a new Vanity Fair interview (full piece here).

The article points out that Kirk Douglas (Michael’s dad), Eric Douglas (Michael’s brother) and Michael himself have all had addiction problems, with Eric even dying of a drug overdose in 2004. Michael tells the magazine, regarding Cameron: “Anybody who has a relative or child in substance abuse has some idea of what this feels like. This is one of those worst-case scenarios. It will ultimately be a painful lesson and very expensive as far as time is concerned. I don’t wish it on anybody, but then, you know, look, everybody’s got difficult things in life… my priorities were very similar [to my father’s… Career first.” Of course, it also sounds like Michael still blames his daddy for some of his crap too:

Michael on second-generation Hollywood actors: “The history of second-generation actors isn’t great in our industry. It’s kind of a tragic road, actually.”

On his father, Kirk Douglas: “He was a very intense, talented survivalist… He was consumed with clawing out and making something of himself, and he probably was a little early in his career to have children. Certainly didn’t get a chance to enjoy them until later in life.”

On producing Oscar-winning film One Flew Over the Cuckoo‘s Nest, and not casting his dad: “My father has played up his disappointment with that pretty good,” says Douglas, managing a chuckle. “God bless him, he’s 93. I finally said, ‘Dad, I worked six years getting this together … ’ I have to remind him, I shared part of my producing back-end with him, so he ended up making more money off that movie than he had in any other picture.”

On Oliver Stone: Douglas credits director Oliver Stone’s callousness in getting the performance out of him. As Douglas tells it, one day when he was in his trailer, Stone came in and said, “You look like you haven’t acted before in your life.” Douglas was immediately put on edge. “Ultimately what he was doing,” says Douglas, “he wanted a little more nastiness. The guy [Stone] is not afraid if you want to spew or vent it on him, as long as it comes out.” The role earned Douglas the Oscar for best actor.

His 1992 rehab stay: In 1992, Michael went into rehab, prompting the rumor that he was there for sex addiction. “It stuck,” he says, pinning the blame on an unscrupulous British journalist who just wanted to jazz up his story. (Kirk, who also had a fidelity problem, didn’t see anything wrong with the sex-addiction charge; he actually thought it was kind of funny.) Michael successfully completed the rehab program, but it was too late to fix his family. Just as his father had done, Michael parted ways with his wife and left behind a son who would have acting aspirations and an absent, superstar father.

Of his son Cameron‘s drug and legal problems: “We always tend to be kinder or make more of an effort to strangers than we do to the person closest to us,” Douglas says of what he’s learned about making marriages work. “Anybody who has a relative or child in substance abuse has some idea of what this feels like. This is one of those worst-case scenarios,” Douglas says. “It will ultimately be a painful lesson and very expensive as far as time is concerned. I don’t wish it on anybody, but then, you know, look, everybody’s got difficult things in life.” Though Douglas isn’t one for public hand-wringing, he can’t help but see his own role in Cameron’s fate. “My priorities were very similar [to my father’s],” Douglas says about Cameron’s formative years. “Career first.”

[From Vanity Fair]

Eh. Is it okay if I just dislike every member of this family? I think Kirk was probably one of the biggest sons of bitches ever, and Michael doesn’t seem like the best guy either. As for Cameron? Well, maybe ten years in prison will get him to wake up and take some responsibility. That being said, I just re-watched Romancing the Stone, and Michael used to be so good-looking and so cool! I love that movie. I wonder if Michael’s going to have some kind of late-life career renaissance now that Wall Street 2 is coming out? Weirder things have happened.

Johnny Depp defends convicted murderers ‘West Memphis Three’
Walt Disney Pictures & Buena Vista Records Alice in Wonderland Fan Event

Not content to simply tell the world that child rapist Roman Polanski “is not a predator”, Johnny Depp has decided to put his time and effort to freeing three convicted murderers known as “The West Memphis Three”. I won’t go into any depth about the crimes these three men were convicted of, because this isn’t a legal or crime blog, and the details of the case are really gruesome, but if you’d like to know more, try this or this. Basically, these three men were convicted (while still teenagers) of murdering three eight-year-old boys. The teenagers (dubbed “The West Memphis Three”) were thought to have committed the crimes because of some kind of satanic urges/rituals. Anyway, Johnny is the latest celebrity to take up the cause of the West Memphis Three, and will even appear on Sunday’s 48 Hours Mystery about the case.

Johnny Depp may have fallen through a rabbit hole. To promote his movie version of “Alice in Wonderland,” he’s advocating the release of three men convicted of murdering three boys in a suspected satanic ritual.

Depp will appear on CBS’s “48 Hours Mystery” on Sunday to call for reopening the case of the West Memphis Three — convicted as teenagers of beating three 8-year-olds to death in 1994 — because he believes they never got a fair trial.

Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley were sentenced to life in prison, and Damien Echols, who is on death row, have all spent 16 years behind bars. But Depp joins such supporters as Eddie Vedder, Metallica, Winona Ryder and the Dixie Chicks in arguing they were convicted because they were devotees of heavy-metal music, Stephen King novels and the occult.

Famously private Depp’s agreement to appear on the “mystery” news documentary show even shocked CBS workers, with one staffer telling us last night: “Johnny Depp on ’48 Hours’ — are you joking?”

But Depp, who’ll also be on “The CBS Early Show” Thursday to promote “Alice,” his new Disney movie produced by Tim Burton, says Echols is running out of time.

He says on “48 Hours,” “I firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate the community. Damien Echols is on death row to be killed by lethal injection.”

The “48 Hours” investigation will highlight supposedly crucial new DNA and forensic evidence which could potentially clear the trio, as well as alleged juror misconduct that contributed to the convictions.

A rep for Depp — who plays the Mad Hatter in the 3D “Alice” being released March 5 with Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover and Anne Hathaway — did not return calls or an e-mail.

[From Page Six]

I was vaguely familiar with the case, and re-reading some of the details reminded me of just how sketchy the prosecution’s case was at the time. I have no idea if these men committed the crimes when they were teenagers, but I do think they should definitely get a new trial. There’s enough new evidence, and enough evidence of wrong-doing in the prosecution’s case (including recanted statements and shoddy forensic work) that the best solution would simply be a retrial. I wonder if Depp’s involvement will make a difference?

Here’s a clip from Depp’s appearance on 48 Hours:

Dying Dennis Hopper incapacitated, daughter instigated his divorce
Skybar Pre-Oscar Party To Celebrate LA Confidentials Oscars/Spring Fashion Issue

Last week, we heard about how Dennis Hopper, who is reportedly “on his deathbed”, filed from divorce from his wife of 14 years, Victoria. Victoria is his fourth wife, and they have a six-year-old daughter together, daughter Galen. Hopper also has three other adult children, including his oldest daughter Marin, who is 47 years old, and a single mother. Marin and her kid live in Hopper’s Venice home and Marin used to work for her dad, booking Hopper’s appearances. Apparently, according to “sources”, it is Marin who instigated the divorce filing against Victoria, her stepmother. Hopper – who reportedly only has “weeks” to live – was driven to the divorce lawyers and had him sign documents even though he “has no idea what is going on.” So… yeah. At this point, the whole thing is looking like a huge fight over money.

As Dennis Hopper is dying from cancer, a family confidant tells Huffington Post his eldest daughter Marin is engineering a divorce and sending lies out to the media to try and bleed extra millions out of his sizable estate. Hopper, who has weeks to live, is currently heavily medicated at his Venice compound. Despite reports, the friend says he is not at the hospital.

Last Thursday the actor filed from divorce from his wife of 14 years Victoria, the mother of his six-year-old daughter Galen. He has three older children.

“It’s so horrible, Dennis is at home, Victoria and Galen are living there as well, and Marin is pulling her father out of his bed and driving him to the divorce lawyers. The poor guy has no idea what is going on,” a friend of the couple has told Huffington Post. “Even his lawyers are telling people he is on painkillers and is essentially sleeping all the time.”

He filed the divorce papers even though his lawyers would not let him sign other paperwork at the same time, telling one family member that he was in an altered mental state due to the copious amounts of drugs he is taking.

He is reportedly delirious and having difficulty speaking.

Marin, who lives rent-free at her dad’s Venice compound with her child, makes a living booking appearances for her father.

One family friend told Huffington Post that Hopper delayed the start his chemo last fall so he could fulfill a paid gig Marin set up in Europe.

Friends believe that given his condition, Marin is the one behind recent statements that have gone out in the actor’s name. Dennis has not been seen in public for weeks and is not up to taking calls.

There are also a number of false claims regarding the estate plan that is in place.

“Victoria gets 25% of the estate unless Marin can push through this last minute divorce. Victoria has never asked for more and has no plans to contest the will. However, if the divorce is finalized, Victoria and Galen [get] nothing.”

Apparently the marriage rapidly deteriorated in recent months. Dennis changed his will last summer, right around his last cancer diagnosis, and started exhibiting “increasing signs of erratic behavior.”

The family friend continues, “Multiple police reports were filed. Dennis denied therapy to Galen and threatened to kill Victoria if she took their daughter to a therapist,” and “three unlocked guns with safeties house were found in the house and turned over to police.”

“Marin has always hated Victoria,” the family friend explained to Huffington Post. “If she can get her father to reject Victoria on his deathbed, and get more money in the process, she’ll be the happiest woman in Los Angeles.”

This is so sad. I get that with a family of this fame and fortune, there are usually going to be fights over the estate, but for goodness sake! They’re literally fighting over his dying body. As some commenters pointed out in the previous thread, Hopper has a reputation as quite the Hollywood son of a bitch, but even I don’t think he deserves all of this. It’s tragic, and it’s strange that everyone is letting Marin run everything. Here’s my question – when Hopper realized how little time he had, did he sign over power of attorney to anyone? I really don’t think marin has power of attorney, or she wouldn’t have to drag her dying father to the divorce lawyers, right?

Marin is the woman on the left, Victoria is the one on the right:

Gerard Butler isn’t going to jail, thank God

Damn, I had almost forgotten this happened. Back in October of 2008, Gerard Butler was charged with assault and battery for allegedly putting a beat-down on a paparazzo. The photographer claimed that Gerard pulled him out of his car and hit him in the face repeatedly with little to no provocation. Gerard’s side was that the guy was stalking him and driving recklessly, and that Gerard might have hit him once to get the guy off his tail. Something like that. Anyway, last May, Gerard was formally charged with a misdemeanor and it was announced that he could get up to six months in jail. Now an LA judge has dropped the charges against Gerry, thank God:

A Los Angeles judge has dropped charges against British actor Gerard Butler over a scuffle with a photographer after a premiere party in October 2008.

A court spokeswoman said a misdemeanour battery charge was dropped after the actor, 40, finished community service.

The incident took place on 7 October 2008 after Butler, the star of war epic 300 and romantic comedy Ugly Truth, left a party for his film RocknRolla.

He faced up to six months if convicted. His lawyer has declined to comment.

Mr Butler’s manager had said the star’s driver was forced to stop the car after the photographer raced through red lights, narrowly avoiding two pedestrians.

It seems kind of sudden for the charges to be dropped right now, doesn’t it? Well, Now Magazine reports that Gerry’s lawyer and the photographer’s lawyer might have worked out a settlement out of court. A spokesperson for the LA City Attorney’s Office told E! News: “The matter was resolved with a dismissal as a result of a civil compromise. The defendant settled with the victim, and also completed 50 hours of community service, which we required. Everything has concluded.” Jesus! Gerard did 50 hours of community service without me noticing? I’m such a bad stalker. I wonder how much money Gerard had to pay the guy? Probably in the 6-figures, right?

In just one more Gerard Butler-related note, he’s been confirmed to present at the Golden Globes two weekends from now. I wonder if he’ll work out a little and try to look less like a dude who has spectacularly let himself go?
