Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber have welcomed their second child, a baby boy, on Saturday in New York.

“I can confirm Naomi and Liev had a baby boy yesterday,” said the actress’s rep.

A couple since 2005, Watts, 40, and Schreiber, 41, already have a baby boy, Alexander Pete Schreiber, born July 26, 2007.

There is no word on the baby’s weight or name, their previous son was named Pete after Naomi’s father. Wiki reports that the boy is named Nicholas Isaac, but the source listed doesn’t actually reveal the baby’s name. If that’s their new son’s name, they’ve chosen something sensible and classic that defies the unusual baby name trend.

Naomi and Liev declined to sell their first son’s baby pictures, although they happily allowed him to be photographed at two weeks of age when shopping at Brentwood Country Mart. Naomi has also never confirmed either pregnancy, allowing her blossoming belly to do the talking for her.

Last month, pregnant Naomi Watts sparked controversy by scootering around the mean streets of New York City on the back of a Vespa driven by baby-daddy Liev Schreiber.

But in Los Angeles, she has a shiny new car to drive around in, one that is both safer than a Vespa and has room for two car seats. The National Enquirer reports Liev bought Naomi a $50,000-plus Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC for her 40th birthday, and she’s thrilled.

The environmentally-friendly luxury SUV doesn’t hit the market until later this month, but Liev managed to score one weeks early — and had it delivered with a big red bow on the hood at a surprise bash he threw for his sweetie in L.A. Naomi, who is due to give birth to the couple’s second child in December, couldn’t contain her excitement and immediately took her new set of wheels for a spin around the block.

According to the Mercedes-Benz site, BlueTEC gets “the maximum power out of every single drop of diesel and so consumes significantly less fuel while conserving natural resources and actively preventing air pollution.”

Naomi came late to both fame and family, but now is doing great on both fronts. Her son Alexander turned one in July, her second child is due in December, and she’s said she still wants more kids.

She’s rumored to fill Tippi Hedren’s famous role in a remake of The Birds, with George Clooney as the male lead. Take this with a grain of salt, because Clooney is also rumored to play The Lone Ranger to Johnny Depp’s Tonto.

I feel sorry for Naomi Watts. Not only does she appear to be uncomfortably pregnant, but she’s constantly described that way. Or as a lot of the press has started phrasing it, “heavily pregnant.” I really, really, really don’t care for that way of putting it. I assume they all think they’re clever, describing a pregnant woman both in terms of saying, “she’s very pregnant” and “boy is she huge.” I’m not a fan.

Naomi and boyfriend Liev Schreiber have been in New York this past week where they’ve been spotted out and about. Naomi was supposedly trying to “hide” her large stomach with a huge bag (ironically from the Container Store) – but frankly the bag had to go somewhere, and the odds were good it’d land near her midsection. I seriously doubt she thought it’d distract from the bump or anything.

There was a story earlier in the month that Naomi Watts is pregnant with her second child with longterm partner, Liev Schreiber. US Weekly reported that she was in her second trimester but didn’t cite a source and there was no confirmation from her reps. Watts looked a little pregnant in recent pictures but her top was blowing out and it was hard to tell. New photos have come out showing the 39 year-old Australian actress looking undeniably pregnant, so we can assume the news is true. She has also been wearing what looks like an engagement ring on her left hand.

Watts has a recent interview with UK Newspaper The Times in which she refused to comment on whether she was pregnant or not, but the article mentions as an aside that her publicist did confirm her pregnancy. As for whether she’s planning to get married, Watts said “I never say never, but I’m not desperate to get married. I’m not someone who has always dreamt of a wedding day. I’m more disbelieving.”

Congratulations to Naomi and Liev! They also have son Alexander Peter, who turned one last Friday.

US Weekly is reporting that Naomi Watts is pregnant and that she’s in her second trimester. They just say she’s expecting but that her rep didn’t confirm it, and they don’t even mention a source. It’s possible they’re judging based on recent pictures, it’s hard to tell:

Naomi Watts, 39, has entered her second trimester with her second baby, Us Weekly reports in its newest issue, on newsstands now.

But don’t expect a huge announcement: When she was pregnant last year with her first child, her beau, Liev Schreiber, 40, didn’t confirm it until he casually told Conan O’Brien, “Yes, I’m going to be a dad.”

The couple — who met on the set of the 2006 drama The Painted Veil and have homes in NYC and L.A. — welcomed son Alexander in July 2007…

Over the weekend Watts was photographed wearing what looked like an engagement ring. Right before her first child, Alexander, now one, was born, Her boyfriend Liev Schreiber told the press that they were engaged. He later claimed that he was joking and many people thought it was cruel that he said it in the first place. It sounded to me like he really wanted to be engaged but that they made a decision to either wait or keep it private.

If this is true, congratulations to Watts and Schreiber. They’ve very admirably tried to keep their personal life private. Naomi let the paparazzi take the first photos of Alexander and chose not to cash in with a valuable magazine spread. These two are sure to try and keep their wedding quiet if this is true and I wonder if they’re planning to marry before the maybe-baby arrives.

On Sunday Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, their son Alexander Pete Schreiber, who will be four weeks old on Wednesday, and their nanny went out for lunch at Malibu restaurant Taverna Tony’s. They looked kind of annoyed going into the restaurant, but then at some point before they left Liev came out by himself and went off on the paparazzi, chasing one guy to his car and hitting it. Naomi then came out and tried to calm Liev down. It seems like word got around that Liev and Naomi were there with their newborn son and the photographers started gathering outside while they were eating, annoying Liev, who is probably sleep deprived and at the end of his rope. It’s hard enough to go out with a new baby without having to deal with hoards of paparazzi.

The cops were called to try and stave off the photographers, but because it was a public street there was nothing they could do. As they left Naomi and Liev looked super annoyed and Naomi even flipped off photographers. Here are the descriptions of the photo sets from Splash News:

The actor raced into the middle of the road, hit a photographer’s car and chased one snapper away. The new Dad had arrived at popular restaurant Taverna Tony’s with his new son and Naomi before chasing the media away. The police were later called but could not help Schreiber as the snappers were on a public street.

We went out for sushi with my son when he was four weeks old. Newborns sleep a lot and we had a window of maybe an hour when we could enjoy our meal. Then my son woke up and we had to get out of there and make sure he was fed and happy. It was stressful in that we kept worrying that he would wake up and we would have to leave. We didn’t have anyone with us to help out, though.

This was probably the first time Liev and Naomi have been out with their son for dinner and you can see how Liev would get annoyed. Maybe they feel like prisoners in their beautiful home considering how much photographers must stalk them. You can tell they weren’t expecting it either, because they’re not dressed up or anything.

Still, Liev should work on his temper and on coming up with ways to foil photographers, like using decoy cars or driving farther out of town. If you’re a celebrity and you want to live near Hollywood, and go out to eat or shop there you can forget about having any kind of privacy, especially when you have a beautiful new baby.

Naomi was also seen out earlier on Sunday strolling along the beach with friends in Malibu, where she attended a small get together at Jon Favreau’s beach house. It’s unknown if Liev or little Alexander were there with her as there are no pictures of them.

Unlike Britney Spears or Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who kept their latest respective babies under wraps for months, Naomi Watts and her beau Liev Schrieber were not afraid to let their newborn son be photographed. Two week old Alexander Pete Schreiber was seen with a smiling and happy Naomi and Liev out on a trip to the post office on Friday.

As two star parents, they can earn a million or more for exclusive photos of the tot, but they seemed happy and comfortable to give the paparazzi a glimpse ahead of any photo spread they might have planned. You have to respect that, and it’s refreshingly normal.

Commentors on I’m Not Obsessed note that Naomi looks great and that she must have been “all baby.”

On Saturday Naomi and Liev hung out with expectant couple Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fischer. Sacha and Liev worked out together and were seen hitting up a sporting goods store ahead of time. Naomi Watts had a baby boy Wednesday at 3:59 p.m. in Los Angeles. Alexander Pete Schreiber weighed in at 8lb, 4oz, and 22 1/2 inches long. He is the first child for Watts, 38, and her boyfriend Liev Schreiber, 39.

While most everyone assumed she was past her due date, Life & Style quotes an insider who says that the baby was actually early:

“Naomi was planning on giving birth next week– her due date was early August — but since she insisted on delivering naturally, she knew there was a chance she would have the baby before the due date. That’s what wound up happening.”

Naomi’s rep say they’re “doing great” and that the new parents are “ecstatic.” Congratulations to Naomi and Liev, that’s great news and we can’t wait to see their new arrival!

Naomi Watts looks like she’s ready to have her baby any day now. I was big like that, although I was a lot heavier than she is while in the late stages of pregnancy, and my son was two weeks late and weighed almost nine pounds. Her boyfriend Liev Schreiber said they don’t want to know the sex of their baby and that they want to wait to find out until the birth.

Is it a decent guess to say she’s having a boy because she’s big or is it hard to tell? I had one waiter tell me he could tell I was having a boy because my face had changed or something. I think that was a nice way of saying I was fat.

Stars don’t let the world know exactly when they’re due because they want some privacy. I wish I had kept my due date a secret too since people bugged me a lot in the 14 days I waited for my son to arrive after he was due. Due dates are just an estimation, and from what I remember reading first babies are often “late.”

I was calling Naomi Watts pregnant after last year’s Oscars so it’s hard to tell with her, but reader Millie pointed out to me that she’s wearing loose dresses lately and that her boobs are getting big. Things seem to be going well with her boyfriend Liev Schreiber, and Naomi has made no secret of the fact that she wants to start a family. Could she be pregnant? Well, she could. There definitely seems to be something going on under that dress. She could also just be favoring loose dresses, so we’ll have to see.
