Lynne Spears didn’t want Jamie Lynn to have the baby; it’s a girl due March 7

I read the much-anticipated tabloids’ take on 16 year-old Jamie Lynn Spears’ pregnancy, which she announced through celeb-friendly OK! Magazine, and they have more details that suggest that she was fibbing to OK! We already reported on the news that she’s more than just three months’ pregnant as she claims and that it is suspected that her on-off boyfriend Casey Aldridge is not the father. (Most of you have heard that she may have been the victim of an older producer on her tween-oriented series Zoey 101, and that he could be the father of her baby.)

Star focuses on Casey, as we reported, and how he was fooling around behind Jamie Lynn’s back and may have even fathered another young woman’s baby while he was dating her.

The National Enquirer also reports that Casey is a cheater, and says that Jamie Lynn is due on March 7, which would make her six months’ pregnant, not three as she claims. They say that her mother Lynne Spears didn’t want her to have the baby at first. They skirt around the topic of abortion, but it seems clear that’s what they mean. It was Casey who talked Jamie Lynn into keeping the baby, they claim:

Jamie Lynn Spears’ baby is due March 7 - and an ultrasound shows that it’s a girl, the Enquirer has learned exclusively. And while her mother demanded she not keep the baby, Jamie Lynn refused - and how the 16-year-old has set her heart on marrying the baby’s father, boyfriend Casey Aldridge, a close source reveals.

“Jamie Lynn learned she was pregnant in late July, but her mother Lynne didn’t want anyone to know,” the source told The Enquirer…

“To keep is quiet, Lynne whisked Jamie Lynn from California back to her home in Kentwood, LA, as soon as she finished filming… Zoey 101 in August.

“The Lynne demanded that Jamie Lynn not keep that baby. At first, Jamie Lynn agreed, but then Casey talked her into keeping the baby.

Determined to have her way, Jamie Lynn threatened to run away, marry Casey, who’s 18, and go live with her big sister Britney, said another insider.

Lynne, 55, dropped her demand, but she’s suspicious of Casey’s motives, sources say.

“Lynnes doesn’t believe Casey loves Jaime Lynn, even though he wants to marry her. She thinks he got Jamie Lynn pregnant on purpose for money and the fame of being the father of her baby,” said the source.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, January 7, 2008]

How complicated can this story get? Jamie Lynn wanted to get married to Casey and move in with Britney, and that would have been entirely possible if they could have hired an organization expert and cleaning team to sanitize the mansion. Britney doesn’t live there anyway.

I guess it’s not surprising that Lynne wanted Jamie Lynn to have an abortion, even though the family is reportedly Southern Baptist and pro-life. I’m pro-choice, but understand the strong feelings that people have on both sides. To me it is an individual choice, although I respect the pro-life stance and belief that it’s wrong not to carry a pregnancy to term. My opinion on it changed quite a bit after I had my own baby, and I’ve had disagreements with family members about this very emotionally-charged issue.

It’s just a sad situation all around. Hopefully this baby will get the love and care it deserves and everything will work out for the best, no matter who is the father. It seems like Casey at least thinks he’s the dad if he’s supporting Jamie Lynn so much. Either way, once Jamie Lynn’s daughter reaches googling age she’ll be able to find out that her grandmother didn’t want her mom to have her. Maybe she’ll have other reasons to hate her by then anyway.

Jamie Lynn and Lynne Spears are shown at the LA Airport on 10/6/07, thanks to Splash News. Jamie Lynn would have been a few months’ pregnant by then, but it’s hard to tell.

Dr. Phil thinks Lynne Spears is a great mom

dgg-014721.jpg

I have a confession to make: I like Dr. Phil. I know 99% of his show is trash, but I enjoy it, and it makes me feel a little less guilty than if I were to indulge in, say, Jerry Springer. I can pretend I’m learning something useful, and then spout off phrases like, “You teach people how to treat you,” and various phrases involving cats, fertilizer, and brick walls. Obviously the guy’s a bit of a hack, but normally he can justify what he says in such a way that I’ll be nodding along with him in a few seconds flat. This is not one of those times. Apparently Dr. Phil is good friends with Lynne Spears, and has gone on the record, telling People that she’s a good mom, despite the fact that she’s about to be a grandmother for the third time… and her daughters are 26 and 16. Right on.

Ever the optimist concerning the Spears family, Dr. Phil McGraw commends matriarch Lynne Spears – despite the current controversy regarding her 16-year old daughter’s pregnancy. “We know the Spears family, particularly the parents,” he tells PEOPLE at Adrienne Maloof and Dr. 90210 Phil Nassif’s holiday party in Beverly Hills on Saturday. “An asset that Britney and Jamie Lynn both have is a great and dedicated mother.”

McGraw admits that his friend is “troubled right now” but is “really looking for the positives in this.” As her daughters live under the glare of public scrutiny and criticism, Lynne has “her feet squarely and solidly on the ground,” he says.

“They’re a very strong, close-knit family,” says Dr. Phil’s wife Robin, “They’re relying on each other.” And with her book recently put on hold, Lynne is also drawing strength from her faith. “I talked to Lynne yesterday and she said they’re turning to prayer, asked that I pray for them. That’s how they’re going to get through it.”

[From People]

I get so annoyed with people who don’t behave as if they’re religious, but then suddenly start referring to scripture right and left when they’re in trouble. Or when they win a Grammy. It just comes off as hackneyed and trite, and certainly doesn’t make me say, “Oh, well I guess I was wrong, Lynne Spears IS a good mother!” Frankly I think Jamie Lynn getting pregnant at sixteen doesn’t speak nearly as badly as to Lynne’s parenting as does Britney’s psychosis. But while Lynne’s getting a lot of negative attention lately, it’s important to remember that the girls have two parents, and their father is just as culpable. Jamie Spears has kept a pretty low profile, but he’s struggled with alcohol addiction. Probably an excellent reason that he should try being a little more involved with his daughters – maybe to help Britney with her own addiction issues. I think Dr. Phil should move the whole Spears clan into the Dr. Phil house (you have to say that with the bravado with which he says it) with the 88 cameras, lock them in, and do some intensive therapy. For a year. You know an on-camera teenage birth would make for great ratings. And Britney and Jaime Lynn fighting over who gets to/has to breast feed the baby would make for a great Dr. Phil intervention.

Details from The OK! Interview with Jamie Lynn Spears; Casey is 18

I finally have access to the OK! Interview with Jamie Lynn and Lynne Spears, and there are some details about Casey and Jamie Lynn’s relationship that I haven’t read in other sources yet. There’s also a recent interview with Casey’s uncle that makes it clear Casey is 18, not 19, and that he’s just a month less than two years older than Jamie Lynn. That means that their relationship would not be classified as statutory rape in Louisiana, but that it is legally a misdemeanor in California.

1. Jamie Lynn and Casey are not living together, according to statements she gave to OK! Magazine.
Of course she would deny this when asked directly, but this is what she told OK! She also said she had to call him to tell him she was pregnant and that they had to meet to talk about it the next day, so it doesn’t sound like they were living together.

Are you guys living together?
No, I live with my mom. He lives with his parents. For now, that’s the best thing to do. We need to focus on the baby right now.

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, December 31, 2007]

2. Casey’s birthday is April 29, 1989, which makes him 18. Jamie Lynn’s birthday is April 4, 1991, which makes her 16. They are just under two years apart.

Casey’s uncle told CelebTV that he was born on that date, and his birthday was confirmed with the Mississippi Department of Motor Vehicles.

As we mentioned above, this means that this relationship does not meets the two year age difference cutoff for possible prosecution under Louisiana law, but that under California law it is a misdemeanor that could result in up to one year in county jail.

Here is a recap of the laws on statutory rape in the applicable states:

Louisiana law defines this unlawful carnal knowledge as “sexual intercourse with consent between someone age 19 or older and someone between age 12 and 17.”

In Louisiana a person can only legally consent to sex at age 17. If aged 15 or 16, the other person involved must be no more than two years older for the act to be considered legal…

The Californian Penal Code states that any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 18 who is not more than three year younger than the perpetrator, is guilty of a misdemeanour and faces up to one year in a county jail.

[From The Daily Mail]

3. Jamie Lynn said she met Casey in church when she was 14, but that they were “friends first.” They’ve been dating for two and a half years, which means that when they started dating she was 14 and he was 16.

How long have you and Casey been together?
This Christmas, it’ll be about two and a half years, I think. At first, I was just friends with him; I’ve been friends with him since I was about 14. Then we started dating. I met him at church. He came there with a friend; I came there with a friend. We started talking and then started hanging out.

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, December 31, 2007]

4. Casey and Jamie Lynn both told her mother together about her pregnancy

Jamie Lynn says the first person she told of her pregnancy was “probably Casey,” and that she and Casey told her mom that she was pregnant. She also said she decided to keep the baby because she’s “trying to do the right thing.”

Who did you call first when your pregnancy was confirmed?
It was probably Casey. It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in a complete and total shock and so was he.

When did you see him after finding out?
The next day, he wanted to meet me in person to talk about what we had to do. It was something we couldn’t really talk about over the phone. We met and talked about everything and decided what we wanted to do. He was 100 percent supportive, and we figured it out.

Was this planned?
Oh, it was a big shock.

Why did you decide to keep the baby?

I think my whole life I would have to live with knowing what I did or what I didn’t do. I’m trying to do the right thing. I think that this is what is going to make me happy in the end.

Other people your age might not be brave enough to take on this kind of commitment…

Well, I was scared at first. I took the time to think about it for myself, and I though: “What would be right for me?” I’m the one who has to live with it for the rest of my life. I put myself in this position, an adult position, so I have to act like an adult and take responsibility for what I did. I have really become at peace with the whole situation, and I think it’s the right thing for me to do. It’s a personal decision that everyone would have to make for themselves. This one is just right for me….

What was [your mom’s] reaction when you told her you were pregnant?
She didn’t really say anything at first. She just kind of looked at me. It was me and Casey that told her. She didn’t believe us. But then she looked at Casey and he’s always been very straightforward, and then she knew it was real. She was very upset because it wasn’t what she expected at all. A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive.

So if Casey and Jamie Lynn are separated as this point, as has been rumored, they were at least close enough when they found out she was pregnant to tell her mother. Jamie Lynn also said in the interview that Casey will make a great father, and that she wants to raise the baby in Louisiana so “it can be around my mom and Casey’s family.”

Jamie Lynn says she doesn’t have morning sickness but is not hungry

There has been a lot of speculation that Jamie Lynn Spears is further along in her pregnancy than the 12 weeks she admits to in the OK! article. Sources say there’s a photo shoot with OK! for Jamie and the baby scheduled for spring, which would make her at least four or five months pregnant, not three.

The Huffington Post has some quotes from the OK! article, and Jamie Lynn talks a little about her pregnancy symptoms. She says she doesn’t have much nausea now, but that she’s also not ravenously hungry and doesn’t have much of an appetite:

She says she has overcome morning sickness, has yet to experience weird cravings and does not show. “I definitely had sickness, but it’s getting better. It was at its worst a few weeks ago… I haven’t really got much of an appetite right now. I mean, I eat, but I’m not going crazy or anything.”

[Quotes from OK! Magazine found on The Huffington Post]

US Weekly has an interview with Jamie Lynn from three months ago in which she’s nonchalant when asked about her future. She was asked if she would be married with kids in ten years and she said “Whatever happens, happens, I guess. You can’t really say what is going to happen.” Does this indicate that she had a similar attitude toward birth control? She was either pregnant or just about to get pregnant at that point.

There’s a lot of heated debate over this subject and that’s understandable as this is a very young woman on a show aimed at tweens. Some commentors chastised me for assuming she didn’t use birth control, as no birth control is 100% effective. It doesn’t seem like a huge logical leap to reach the conclusion that there wasn’t birth control involved, especially considering the earlier story that she had a pregnancy scare, but maybe she used a condom and it failed. That’s happened to me, although thankfully I didn’t get pregnant until I wanted to.

Many people are pointing a well-aimed finger at Lynne Spears, Jamie Lynn’s mom, and asking if she ever had a birth control discussion with either of her fertile daughters. The Huffington Post has a great editorial questioning how Lynn could so quickly sell her daughter’s pregnancy story, and wondering how she so fundamentally failed in advising either one of her daughters.

Some quotes from the OK! article may show that Lynne either had no idea that her daughter was sexually active or was in denial about it. She calls Jamie Lynn her “baby” and says she was home on time for curfew. It has not yet been confirmed that Jamie Lynn was living with Casey, although People reports that he “was a fixture at the condo where Jamie Lynn stayed with her mother, Lynne, while filming the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101.” Doesn’t that sound like he was living with Jamie Lynn and her mom? And if that’s the case, what does it matter if she’s home on time if she’s having sex with her boyfriend when she’s there?

As for Lynne Spears, Jamie Lynn and Britney’s mom, she was shocked. “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”

And don’t ask ask if Jamie Lynn and Casey should get married. “We’re not going there. We’re focusing on the baby. We’ve got so much to focus on right now.”

[Quotes from OK! Magazine found on The Huffington Post]

Meanwhile there’s a story that K-Fed heard about Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy before Britney did, because he has a close relationship with Lynne Spears and she confided in him on Monday before the news broke. As for how Britney is coping, she’s said to be driving around aimlessly, shopping, and going to whatever high end hotel will have her after she was barred from other establishments. It all sounds pretty average for Britney.

Our story yesterday that Jamie Lynn and her boyfriend Casey Aldridge have broken up seems likely to be true. Life & Style reports that they’ve had a rocky relationship and are currently apart:

A day after news broke that the 16-year-old is expecting, a Spears family insider tells Life & Style that she and Casey Aldridge, the father of her baby, are not seeing each other!

“Jamie Lynn and Casey are NOT together. They’ve broken up numerous times, but he was her first and she kept taking him back,” says the insider.

“They’re not dating now. He’s really got nothing to offer this baby. He’s a kid himself. They have no plans to get married.”

“At this point, Jamie Lynn has asked her mom — and not Casey — to be in the delivery room with her.”

[From Life and Style]

There will soon be a new addition to one of the most high profile celebrity families in the world. A very young woman is going to be a mother, but many of you have pointed out that this isn’t your average teen pregnancy as there will be no financial struggle for Jamie Lynn and all the help that money can buy. There could be plenty of confusion, lost opportunity, and personal soul searching for this girl as she matures and experiences the gravity of the situation. Let’s hope that she’s able to cope well and care for her baby, and that she turns out to be a better mother than Lynn or her sister. That bar is set pretty low.

Here are pictures of Jamie Lynn throughout the years, thanks to PRPhotos. Header image is of Jamie Lynn and Britney at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Premiere on 7/10/05. Dates of the photos below are noted with the larger images.

Britney’s mom Lynne Spears says she blames herself

This week’s Life & Style has a whole exclusive interview with Lynne Spears in which she seems to take several well-deserved underhanded verbal shots at Britney. Although Britney’s mom Lynne says she “blames herself” for Britney’s behavior, what she’s really doing is publicly acknowledging that her daughter is fucked up. By admitting her daughter has problems, she also seems to be letting us know that she’s not going to go easy on Britney in her upcoming tell-all book about her. Although Britney’s friend Sam Lufti claims the book is going to be about Lynne’s spiritual journey guiding Britney and Jamie Lynne’s careers or some shit, tabloids are hyping it, saying Britney is worried about the bombshells Lynne might come out with.

Britney has cut Lynne off from her money and seems to be enjoying spending it all on throwaway fashion and high end hotels each month, so Lynne has got to be ready to spill the beans. It’s doubtful that she can do any more damage to Britney than she’s managed to do on her own, but we’ll have to see.

Lynne cites her lack of involvement with Britney while she was touring as a teen, saying that she was too busy watching her other two kids to save Britney from an inevitable life of running over photographers’ feet and shopping and dining aimlessly, drifting to different four-star hotels each night:

For everything that’s gone wrong for Britney, “I blame myself,” Lynne says. “What mother wouldn’t?”

“I wish I’d been there more while she was touring,” Lynne says. “But I couldn’t be. I had the other kids [Britney’s brother, Bryan, now 30, and sister Jamie-Lynn, now 16] to look after.”

And while Lynne seems unable to explain exactly what went wrong while Britney was out of her care, her conscience is heavy. “I didn’t raise my children to have Hollywood careers,” she notes. “This all just exploded in my face, and big dreams become big headaches.” Again, she says, “I do blame myself…”

In the meantime, Lynne says she’s trying to help broker the peace by acting as a mediator between Britney and Kevin. “Here are two parents who care about their kids,” Lynne tells Life & Style. “They’re good people. While my daughter’s, Kevin’s and the boy’s interest at heart, I’m trying to bring them together, to bridge the gap. I think things are getting good.”

As for her own relationship with Britney… “We’ve reunited,” Lynne says. “We’re friends…” Still, she notes, she and Britney aren’t going to be moving in together any time shoon. “Britney’s not a keep-me-around person,” Lynne says. “I also have a 16-year-old to look after. I can’t be there for Britney all time.”

[From Life and Style, print edition, November 19, 2007]

I picture Lynne Spears saying all that in this faux-motherly tone, looking all innocent. What she’s really saying is “Britney is fucked up, maybe I screwed up but there’s nothing I can do about it at this point. I’m working with Kevin and the kids are ok.”

While we were ignoring Britney, she failed one of the drug tests she bothered to show up with and ran a red light while her kids and court-appointed monitor were in the car for one of her random drives, maybe not in that order, I can’t keep up. The drug test failure was attributed to one of the various prescription medications she’s on, with the most recent theory being that the adderral she takes for ADD caused her to test positive for amphetamines.

She also ran over a third person’s foot and has to attend an emergency hearing today for running that red light. It is thought that Kevin will ask for her rights to drive with her two boys in the car to be suspended. So Britney is getting as much driving time in as she can before it’s stripped from her. She was spotted out driving last night while wearing dark sunglasses, her two kids passed out in the back of the car, the court appointed monitor riding shotgun.

Thanks to WENN for these photos of Britney last night.

Britney Spears reunites with her mom, but rejects intervention attempt

Britney Spears came crawling back to her mom, Lynne Spears. Well, she somehow got her mom to come to her, and then hopefully Britney crawled. We really have no idea as to what actually went down between Britney and her mother, but the most accepted theories seem to be that Lynne was instrumental in forcing Britney into rehab last year after her public baldness-inducing breakdown. Britney never thought she needed to go to rehab, and seemed to cut ties with Lynne shortly thereafter. At one point she hand-delivered a letter instructing Lynne to stay away from her kids, making sure to specify that Lynne might on medication which would impair her. Yeah that’s the pot calling the kettle black, and the kettle retorting, “Shut up you crazy hag!” Or some such thing. Well after Brit’s life has really gone to crap in the last few weeks, she finally summoned Lynne to her home, and I guess Lynne was pretty happy to go.

“Come to mama: Days after losing custody of her two kids, Britney Spears found some solace by reuniting with estranged mom Lynne Spears.

“‘Brit really needed her mom,’ a source tells PEOPLE. ‘So Lynne flew out and they met.’ Sources say Lynne and Britney’s younger sister Jamie Lynn flew from Kentwood, La., to Los Angeles Friday evening. On arrival at LAX, the two were mobbed by photographers. Jamie Lynn, wearing eyeglasses, kept her head low, later covered by the hood of her sweatshirt. Despite the attention, the women made a quiet exit from the terminal, declining to comment or to acknowledge the group.

“Around 3 a.m., Lynne paid a visit to her daughter’s Beverly Hills home before driving the two of them to Spears’s new Malibu pad. The mother-daughter pair had a falling out back in June, when Spears handed her mother a reportedly upsetting letter. According to TMZ, the letter asked that Lynne stay away from Spears’s sons if she is taking any medications that might cause her to be impaired.

“Spears told reporters at the time, ‘I’m praying for her right now. [I hope] she gets all the help she needs.’ Says a source, for now, ‘Everything’s great.’”

[From People]

I have that old Peaches and Herb song, “Reunited and it Feels so Good” stuck in my head right now, with an image of Lynne and Britney holding each other and swaying to the music… while a little bit drunk. I’m really surprised it took Britney this long to ask for her mom’s help and support. I mean things have just gotten worse and worse for her, and then you think she’s at rock bottom and she finds a way to dig herself down into a brand new hole. But if nothing else the girl is freakishly stubborn, and if someone tells her what to do (her mom… or a judge) she’ll flip them the bird and then get shitfaced and dance on some bars with her underwear over her head. And frankly we can’t complain, because at least that means Britney Spears had her underwear on at some point.

Hopefully calling her mom means that Brit has finally reached rock bottom and realizes just how messed up her life is. That’s probably a really scary and overwhelming feeling, but she’s got to understand that before she can correct her problems and get her life back together. Lynne Spears seems to be one of the few Hollywood moms that really has her act together and has given up a lot for her children’s careers, without expecting to be brought along to a lot of Hollywood parties as their own personal coke whores (ahem, Dina Lohan). Let’s hope this is an indication of some type of turning point, and Brit will take a few baby steps towards becoming a decent parent.

Note by Celebitchy: Britney missed a scheduled visit with her children this weekend, but it wasn’t exactly her fault. After first suggesting that the boys meet her at one of the many hotels she frequents, she agreed to return home to prepare for their visit. When K-Fed arrived at the gate, no one answered the intercom. He called Britney on her cell phone to tell her he was leaving, and she begged him to stay. It turns out the intercom was broken and she never heard the call.

And the latest news in the nonstop Britney saga is that she rejected an intervention attempt by her family yesterday. Her mom, sister, and K-Fed all arrived at her Malibu mansion on Sunday to try and convince her to get help.

Her weekend was quite eventful too. It seems that on Friday night she drove around aimlessly with her ex hook-up, producer JR Rotem, and one of his friends. She kicked the pair out before she went home early on Saturday, but then ran back down to the gate, screaming that her house had been broken into. She punctured one of her tires in her frenzy about the supposed break in, and a photographer changed it for her. The cops came and left, and then her family arrived to try and talk some sense into her:

Early Friday evening, Brit, producer JR Rotem and hanger-on Sam Lusty spent hours driving around Los Angeles and Beverly Hills being followed by a caravan of paparazzi, until utlimately ending up at the posh Peninsula Hotel, where Brit had holed herself up for a few days earlier this week, following the decision by Court Commissioner Scott Gordon to give full temporary custody of her two young boys to K-Fed.

Around 2am PT, the three louseketeers exited the Peninsula and drove, screaming at each other the whole way, to Britney’s gated community, The Summit, on Mulholland Drive, at which point Brit inexplicably gave her two traveling companions the boot at the gatehouse.

But the night was nowhere near being finished. A few minutes later, Brit comes roaring down the hill to The Summit’s entrance, where she begins to rant incoherently that her home had been broken into. Her driving was so erratic that she pulled up on a curb, damaging her tire so badly that it required repair — which a friendly photog was more than willing to do for Brit.

Eventually, officers of the law arrived and went up to the house with Brit, JR and Sam, before returning approximately 45 minutes later. No word on whether her house was truly broken into, though all signs point to “no.”

So, in the early morning hours, Brit and her pals packed back into her newly re-tired car and headed up the coast to her Malibu home — where her mom and little sis had just arrived.

[From OK! Magazine]

Then around 7p.m. on Saturday Britney stormed out of her house, seeming to reject her family’s help. She continued her random tour of hotels and restaurants, stopping briefly at the Viceroy Hotel and The Ivy. She was followed by at least 36 cars full of paparazzi.

Britney is still hanging out with her sister, even if the paparazzi think she’s rejecting her family’s help by continuing to drive around. She was seen out yesterday getting coffee and going for sushi with 16 year-old Jamie Lynn Spears. At one point she got lost and photographers told her the way home. Thanks to WENN for these photos.
