Christina Aguilera reverts back to her clown makeup for Time 100 gala: pretty or ridic?

Remember how Christina Aguilera cleaned up her act for her last red carpet appearance, like how she toned down the makeup, wore something flattering, and looked sober? Yeah, that’s over. People were pointing out that she’d lost weight too, but to me the takeaway was that she was wasn’t sporting clown makeup and a tight hooker dress. At the Time 100 Gala last night, Christina went back to her comfort default look of bleached bottle blonde, red lips, and a burnt orange complexion. Like Pamela Anderson, it must be hard for her to quit that. Baby steps. She does look somewhat sober though and that’s an improvement.

Christina somehow earned a spot on the Time 100 list, and they call her “one of the most talented artists the world has ever seen and heard.” It’s too bad her antics have overshadowed that for years.

I like her black dress somewhat. (Update: Thanks to everyone who pointed out that her dress is Victoria Beckham!) I mean, it’s not amazing or anything but it suits her well and she’s showing off her figure without hanging out all over. That necklace is overkill but it’s gorgeous. I would love to wear that. Still, look at this closeup of her face. How do you put on makeup like this (or get it applied) and not feel self conscious? Granted I understand wearing this type of makeup for a performance, but not for a night out. Ridiculous.

Mia Farrow was there rocking a Sox t-shirt with a black pantsuit. She didn’t get a spot on the Time 100 though. I love her! Her shirt reminds me of Neil Diamond leading a sing-along to Sweet Caroline at Fenway. That story gets me choked up every time.

Getting back to the point, Kaiser covered some of the other notable guests last night, so I’m just going to check out some of the guys. Here’s Frank Ocean looking very fine. He’s one of Time’s 100 most influential people and our photo agency labeled him “guest.” That’s a shame. Damn he looks good in a tux. He’s all of 25 years old so I need to stop thinking about him in that way.

Jimmy Fallon and his lucky wife, Nancy Juvonen. They look like they’re having a blast. I would love to hang out with them.

Ricky Gervais with his partner, who is coincidentally named Jane Fallon. (No relation to Jimmy.) I would rather be married to Jimmy than Ricky. Ricky seems like he could be a real pain in the ass.

Christina Aguilera ditched the bright orange spray tan and clown makeup: cute?

These are some new photos of Christina Aguilera at a screening of Season 4 of “The Voice” last night. It premieres on March 25, and since it’s a hit for NBC they’re really cramming them back to back. The last season just ended in December, but somehow it feels sooner than that. That must be due to all the promotion I’ve been seeing for this season. Aguilera was a judge for the first three seasons, but both she and fellow judge Cee Lo Green have left, they’ve been replaced by Usher and Shakira. (Whenever I think of her I get “Hips Don’t Lie” stuck in my head. Probably because it’s in one of the spin videos I do.) Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are still on the judging panel for their fourth season.

It’s unknown why Aguilera is no longer on The Voice, but she did regularly clash with fellow judge Adam Levine, and she was rumored to be a diva. So that’s why it’s nice to see her at the premiere for season 4. I don’t think she was contractually obligated to show up, it’s not like she’s on this season, but she did and she really put her game face on!

This is such an improvement for Christina, whom we regularly see looking wasted with day-glo fake bake and caked-on makeup. For comparison, this is how she looked the last time we saw her at an event, in October of last year.

See, she looks awesome now. She’s still fake baking but it’s not as dark. She wore a really cute, flattering dress, which Just Jared identifies as Parker with a Versace belt. The back of the dress is white, you can see it in the photo below. For her makeup she went with a neutral lip, cheek and eye, and she looks quite sober. It also looks as if she’s lost weight. This makes me wonder if she ditched that guy who served as her enabler, Matt Rutler, but I did find photos of them together just a month ago. Whatever is going on in Christina’s life, she should keep it up. Even if it only involved hiring a new makeup artist. I would love to see her get rid of that brassy blonde hair and go with a more nuanced color, but baby steps. This is a big difference!

Also there we have Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, looking coupled up.

Usher, who is hot to me when I don’t pay too much attention to his fashion. Those shiny red boots are atrocious! Also, I like him better with shorter hair.

And Yvette Nicole Brown! Just because I love her. Shakira wasn’t there, boo.

Zosia Mamet, Shoshanna on Girls, dyed her hair blonde: bad look for her?

I haven’t been watching Girls this season, but I watched the first season and Shoshanna was my favorite by far. That may have been down to the writing, her character was the “nice” and “normal” one, but I’ve been surprised by how different the actress is. It seems like I see Zosia Mamet on Go Fug Yourself more often than not. She usually wears some atrocious outfit that goes beyond “funky” and “bohemian” into just “bizarre” territory. At least she’s not cookie-cutter and she expresses herself as an individual. She seems like she’s fun, you know?

That’s why I guess I’m not too surprised to see that she’s dyed her hair blonde and is sporting some pretty extreme, unflattering makeup. It could be the bad makeup that’s throwing her off more than the blonde color, which doesn’t look suited to her.

This is the kind of makeup job you would do in high school and think looked hot. Bright, smeary red lips, overdone heavy liquid eyeliner and too-big eyebrows. I suspect that she wouldn’t look as strange without the makeup and photos bear that out. She was seen exiting the show with bare lips and she looks pretty and fresh-faced here.

There’s something really sweet about this girl, she doesn’t seem pretentious at all, but maybe she’s just a fabulous actress. She’s very convincing in the role.

In comparison here she is with brown hair. Still making the same makeup mistakes with that shade of lip color, but at least she looks more like her. She’s so pretty on Girls too, it’s kind of shocking to see her like this.

Thanks to Huffington Post for the tip! Photos credit: WENN.com

Rihanna gets huge MAC cosmetics collaboration deal: good pick?

Rihanna is turning into quite the celebrity industrialist. She has a new super cheap-looking fashion line, her perfume and now her branded MAC cosmetics, which she claims to have co-designed. MAC made the announcement that they’re going to put out four different collections from Rihanna this year. This is a new trend in celebrity endorsements, to give them some kind of ownership and creative control. Rihanna did a new interview with Women’s Wear Daily to talk about the project and I have to say she sounds very professional and excited about it. She says she’s used MAC cosmetics for years, that she’s excited to be working with them, and that she tried out her new makeup on all her friends to make sure the colors worked with different skin tones. Here’s more, with more at the source:

“The only thing the media really can get in the way of is my privacy,” said Rihanna — fresh from taking her runway bow in a cavernous former post office sorting space in central London after the Rihanna for River Island show last weekend. “Privately, yeah, it’s a pain in the ass, but at the same time they help me to get my message across. My creativity — I’ll never let anyone interfere with that — because that’s something I love. And if I’m not doing that, I’m wasting my time.”

The MAC agreement — which Rihanna called “a no-brainer” — will help her be even more creative. In an unprecedented deal for both, MAC and the Grammy winner have collaborated on multiple collections of color cosmetics that will roll out later this year.

The first product to launch will be RiRi Woo, a lipstick inspired by her favorite MAC red, Ruby Woo. Its release will coincide with Rihanna’s Diamonds Tour concerts on May 4 and 5 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where MAC will open a pop-up shop on the first night to showcase the line.

“When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC,” said the singer, who was dressed in a black, strappy, curve-hugging dress of her own design and matching Manolo Blahnik heels during an exclusive interview with WWD. “Whatever color you want, it’s like ‘Let’s go to MAC.’ I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand…”

Rihanna argues that creating makeup is no different from making songs — or clothing, for that matter. “Being creative is something that I love, so I can put that into different outlets. Music happens to be the first thing that I gravitated to, and now music opens doors to just so many different opportunities, and they all tie in. My makeup looks, my fashion looks…they help me to express myself as an artist. I think it helps people to understand me or my mood, my story.”

Although MAC has collaborated with myriad brands and celebrities in the past, this is the first time the brand has worked with a famous person for more than just a one-off project. “We always say that MAC likes to go on a date but doesn’t really want to go into a relationship,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC’s parent company. “This relationship with Rihanna is a long-term one that involves the development of four distinct color initiatives.”

[From WWD]

I just have to call bullsh*t on her first quote about the media getting in the way of her “privacy.” She’s tweeting and instagramming constantly. She’s the one getting in the way of her own privacy.

Getting back to this announcement, I’ve tried MAC in the past, but it’s very expensive and I stick to more affordable drug store brands now. There’s not shame in it! MAC has great eye shadow shades especially, but I can’t see spending that kind of money on a single shade. Plus what if I don’t like it? I just dropped over $10 on one color.

In terms of Rihanna as a spokesperson/collaborator, this is a great deal for both of them. MAC is edgy, they don’t care if Rihanna is tweeting photos with her ass hanging out while she’s smoking a blunt. Mac is known as a high end kind of punk rock brand. They’re not like Nivea, whose CEO who called Rihanna trashy, basically, and severed their relationship with her. MAC knows what they’re getting.

The MAC spokesperson was asked specifically about Rihanna’s relationship with Chris Brown and he had a pretty sophisticated response, “She’s a grown woman, and whatever makes her happy makes us happy. Life’s complicated. Far be it for us to judge.

Also, as Kaiser said to me it’s nice that MAC is trying to create makeup for women of color and this collaboration with Rihanna speaks to that. Sure she’s a trainwreck in her personal life but she’s massively successful and she loves makeup. As long as she stays away from Chris Brown (not likely) and stays safe she should be ok. She isn’t drinking and driving, getting in fights or trash-talking anyone besides Karrueche. I’ve developed a kind of tolerance and understanding of her. She acts like she’s super risky and hardcore while she does all her professional duties and cashes in bigtime. Her image is very calculated.

Blake Lively’s beauty tips: put your damp hair in a tight bun to make pretty waves

Blake Lively is the celebrity spokesperson for Gucci Premiere perfume. You may have seen her commercial in which she struts around in gorgeous dresses while applying perfume like she’s trying out a new vibrator. As part of her promotional duties she did a long video interview with fashion and beauty blog, Refinery 29. (You can watch the video there. I tried to embed it, but it’s auto-play.) Blake really knows how to give interesting beauty tips. I’m not sure they’d work for everyone, but Blake wants us to know that her style is “effortless” and will work for you, too. I’m sure she had a full blowout and a professional makeup application before she said this.

On her sense of style
You look at Katherine Hepburn and her pant suits or you look at Grace Kelly and her incredibly feminine gowns that look like a princess – very fittingly. I look to women like that because I always look for style and not trends.

There are two very different things. One can be iconic in any time period. I always want to wear things that my kids can look back on and say ‘mom, you look amazing.’ Not like ‘I can’t believe you wore that.’

On the paparazzi trying to get a money shot
It’s never comfortable when there are a million people with cameras that are screaming your name. A lot of them really want to get that embarrassing photo. You’re getting out of your SUV and there’s a guy on the ground trying to shoot up your dress and then it’s your fault later…

Leading up to it is never really stressful. You make it a fun process like going to a costume party.

On caring for her nieces and nephews before a premiere
The last premiere I went to I had my nieces and nephews I was babysitting them, they were at my hotel at the pool all day… I was getting dressed, I had my dress, my sister hadn’t shown up yet. She was late, so I was like ‘ok you guys you’re coming to the premiere…’ so I’m holding the babies I have them in the car with me, I walk the red carpet. I get back in the car and continue to watch them until my sister shows up and then I can continue with my night.

On her hair
I’m actually a pretty shy person by nature so it’s very much a safety net for me. I love to have my hair down and I love to have it full. I always like it to look really relaxed. [Structured hair] just makes me feel stiff and uncomfortable. If I have my hair down, there’s something romantic about it. I feel like it looks lived it… it has a story.

Her haircare tips
When I wash and dry my hair I have naturally wavy hair so I’ll dry it where it’s still a little bit wet and then I’ll put it just in a ballerina bun and then when I take it out it has a really nice natural deep wave… If you have any sort of natural bend in your hair, if you let it dry in that bun… make sure the bun is really tight then it will come out with really pretty waves.

Her beauty tips: improvise
It’s always about ‘are there any accidents that are going to happen… let’s use eyelash glue’ [to glue down a dress so it doesn't ride up]

My mom is very clever that way… always thinking of odd things in a pinch. My mom used Advil as blush once… she didn’t have blush, so she licked the Advil and took the pink off of it.

On fragrance
Fragrance for me is actually one of the most important things that I live by daily, as well as on the red carpet. I like a more natural, effortless look so I often don’t wear much makeup in my life if any, so fragrance is something that really defines you and it tells your story. It brings back so many emotions and so many memories. When you smell the smell of someone you love… the flood of emotions, the power that has is incredible.

Fragrance is something that can be your signature for life.

[Transcribed from video on Refinery 29]

I have long naturally wavy hair around Blake’s length and I doubt my hair would look cute if I put it up damp in a bun like that, but you know that I’m going to try it. I’ll probably be blowing it out again and then curling it to fix it afterwards. I don’t like my hair to look messy.

Blake also went on about how Gucci Premiere was “the perfect fragrance” because they were able to blend feminine floral notes with masculine wood notes and hints of citrus or something. This women is possibly the perfect spokesperson. She’s enjoying the hell of out that fat contract with Gucci.

I have to call bullsh*t on her “I’m actually a pretty shy person” comment. Blake is not shy. The interviewer was noticeably shy and reserved and it took her a while to warm up. Blake is always ready with an animated story about how she wrangles babies while attending move premieres and uses clever tricks to get her incredible hair and dewy skin. Blake’s brand of “shy” is anything but. She gives a great interview. She really knows how to make it all look “effortless.” Also, I got the sense that she’s looking forward to having kids soon.

Gwyneth Paltrow does her 1st Max Factor ad, thinks she’s a writer: lovely or silly?

Gwyneth Paltrow

As Kaiser reported in September, Gwyneth Paltrow has gone downmarket by signing on as the face of Max Factor cosmetics. In addition to the obvious slumming that Goop is doing for the quick buck endorsement, it’s also worth noting that she’s not a makeup person at all. In fact, Gwyneth has been known to attend events sans makeup because, basically, she can’t do her own makeup. So for whatever reason (the almighty Goop dollar), Gwyneth decided to sign on to tell all of the peasants exactly how they should do their makeup. Yeah, I don’t get it either, but let’s just humor her anyway.

Did you know that there are “seven sides of Gwyneth Paltrow“? That’s what Max Factor would have us believe about Goop, who has apparently inspired (through her illustrious, divine life) seven different make-up looks to inspire seven respective different aspects of their advertising campaign. Let’s see if I can come up with seven different reflections of Goop: shopper, traveller, shopper, woodburning-oven pizza baker, shopper. Ahhh, I give up. Luckily for the unimaginative sorts like me, Max Factor has already dreamt up seven different occupations for the “multi-tasking” Gwyneth, and they’ve already started with the most unlikely: writer!

Uh, writer? That’s an odd place to start considering that each of Goop’s newsletters generally consist of one paragraph of lofty, thesaurus-driven prose followed by a guest writer. She even used a ghostwriter for last year’s cookbook, My Father’s Daughter, in which Gwyneth was found to have actually written (all by herself), “I basically love anything that comes in a hot dog bun… except hot dogs (sorry, Dad).” Well, Max Factor still seems to think that Goop is a real writer, and so they’ve interviewed her as part of their advertising campaign. Here’s what she had to say in her defense:

Gwyneth Paltrow

On her “writer” persona: “The writer persona is me going into town for a lunch or into London for a meeting or going to a friend’s house for dinner. Or me when I’m most myself, doing something creative, having a look that says, confidence, creativity but still very much who I am.”

She’s not really a make-up girl: “I have a funny relationship with make-up, in my own life I wear very little of it. It’s huge part of my professional life and I have been getting it done since I was 18 for films and attending premieres. It’s been important for the professional aspects of my life. As I’m getting older I’m trying to experiment with make up more myself and use it more myself around the house. My make-up routine is very simple. I’m big into mascara and blusher and that’s about as far as I get when I’m running around at home.”

She’s learned so much from this campaign: “It’s been interesting doing the shoot and I’m starting to pay attention more to what the make-up artists do and how I can do it in my own life. I think maybe I can try this trick at home – maybe I can be a bit more brave and try a red lipstick or something.”

[From Max Factor]

Oh Gwyneth, hahaha. Her “writer” persona is nothing like the vast majority of people who actually write for a living. My friends don’t normally throw dinner parties as part of our profession — we meet at Panera Bread. But that doesn’t involve vintage wine and, therefore, is too gauche for Goop. I think the main part of the problem with the Goop’s “writer” persona is that she doesn’t speak at all about the actual writing process. Instead, she thinks it’s all about going out in London for dinner and meetings, which doesn’t really speak to the solitary process of a writer. Those differences aside, Goop doesn’t have any interest in doing her own makeup, and even if she did, she wouldn’t realize that a lot of writers stay at home and don’t put on makeup just to do their jobs. Still, I know how to do my own makeup, even if it usually only involves some minimal eyeliner and lip gloss.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes video (thanks to the Telegraph) of Gwyneth spouting off about makeup. She’s making far too much money for this.

Kristen Stewart in leather A.L.C. & terrible makeup in NYC: awful or not that bad?

Here are some new photos of Kristen Stewart entering a NYC screening for On the Road – we don’t have access to any photos from the actual carpet for the screening, but these are good enough. Kristen’s leather dress is by A.L.C. It’s cute. I think the jacket is Balenciaga – and I’m not a fan. I don’t mind that she’s doing a lot of leather these days, I just take issue with the “dated” looks that she chooses for some of her leather looks, but the dress is fine. I think the Barbara Bui heels are kind of cheap-looking, though. I’m sure they’re expensive, but I wonder if maybe a simple black closed-toe Jimmy Choo slingback might have worked better? Kristen didn’t attend the screening with Robert Pattinson, and I can’t find any reports that he was there, being low-key or whatever. He’s already seen the movie a few times, so maybe he just wasn’t interested this time.

Can we talk about Kristen’s makeup? What is going on with her lately? For years and years, I thought she had maybe the best makeup of any young actress in Hollywood. Like, her makeup artists knew what the hell they were doing, and Kristen just has the kind of “blank slate” face that can pull off really strong makeup looks. But then that corpse-y appearance at the AFI Fest happened last weekend, and now this. This was actually my first thought when I looked through these Kristen photos:

Right? Kristen totally looks like the Angry Unibrow Baby from The Simpsons. Kristen needs to stop getting high with her makeup people. Or she needs to stop getting high and trying to do her own version of a bold, smoky eye.

In other K-Stew news, Radar was sort of right – Kristen and Rob did adopt another dog! Radar said the adoption was coming, but Kristen confirmed the adoption while she was doing press this week in NYC. She got another rescue, and she named her Bernie. Like, short for Bernadette or Bernice?

When Kristen Stewart met her newest rescue dog, Bernie, at an animal shelter, the actress admits the pooch knew just how to steal her heart.

“She was very emotionally manipulative. She really milked it,” the Twilight starlet told Kelly Ripa on Wednesday’s episode of Live! With Kelly and Michael. “Then I got her home, and she was like, ‘I have arrived.’”

But while Bernie wasted no time making herself at home with an A-list star, with Stewart again comparing the pet to a “roommate,” her other rescue dog, Bear, didn’t fare as well with the adjustment.

“She was very comfortable instantly,” Stewart says of Bernie, “taking Bear’s stuff. I was like, ‘You need to slow your roll, girl. You need to watch it!’”

Asked by Ripa if she wanted to provide a playmate for Bear, the 22-year-old says it was a simpler motivation that led her to adopt again.

“I’m just sort of obsessed with rescuing the pooches,” Stewart said.

[From People]

So Bear is living with Kristen – but I thought Bear was more Rob’s dog? Didn’t he do the rescuing? Oh well. More proof that they’re together, I guess.

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga at the AFI screening of ‘OTR’: lovely or corpsey?

These are some photos from last night’s On the Road premiere in at the AFI Fest. I guess it was a “screening” more than a premiere, but whatever. On the Road doesn’t come out for wide release until December, and I guess the studio kind of wants to build the buzz for a possible Oscar nomination for Garrett Hedlund. But who can pay attention to Hedlund when Kristen Stewart is around? Ugh. I have to say… Kristen looked like ten kinds of hell at this screening. Almost always, I have to give Kristen credit for always rocking some great makeup – usually, her makeup artist knows what they’re doing, and Kristen can pull off some very strong makeup “looks”. But this was way, way too much. She looks ghoulish and corpsey. The lipstick is too dark, the eyes are much too heavy. As for the hair… eh. Kristen’s hair stylist is hit or miss, and I think this is a miss. Maybe her Glam Squad is pissed at her?

Kristen’s outfit is Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière. The pants are… not great. I don’t get why pleated pants are making such a comeback – they weren’t flattering the first time around, and this time around it’s not “retro,” it’s just fug. And that top looks like “Wonderbra by Balenciaga”.

I’m also including some photos of Hedlund, who was remarkably clean-shaven and that’s kind of killing any biscuit-tingle on my part. Also there: Amy Adams in a too-prom-y Dolce & Gabbana. CB likes Amy’s hair, though.

Did Courtney Stodden get a nose job, or did she just tone down the drag makeup?

We got a request to cover this story, so I figured why not? Otherwise I was just going to ignore it, as we’ve done with most Courtney Stodden stories lately. How many times can you say the same thing about this predictable sexed-up child and her lecherous aging husband? Plus, is it even her fault? I know technically she’s an adult now, but it’s like her mom just passed her off on someone else to care for except Courtney has to have sex with him. I don’t like thinking about it.

Anyway Courtney is on the new season of Couples Therapy with her creepy husband-dad, Doug Hutchison. That trainwreck premieres on October 3. As part of the lead-up, VH1 has released a preview (below) in which Courtney is sporting her 1.0 face. (Even if she had something already done at that point it wasn’t as noticeable as it is now.) She looks like a different model, like the “sister” version of her former fembot self.

I think she had a nosejob and/or fillers, although people are saying she just looks different due to makeup alone. I know some of you will agree. Courtney’s mom calls the rumors “ridiculous” and said “she’s doing her makeup differently—that’s all it is! Courtney decided she wanted to change her makeup. She went for a lighter, more natural look, old Hollywood kind of look.” This chick is as old Hollywood as Lohan is, but I have to say she looks way prettier and younger without the spackle and with lighter hair. Now there’s something even creepier about that relationship. Courtney’s mom went on to add “All she did was lighten her hair, used a lighter shade of makeup and tanner, and not use as much eyeliner. She told me, ‘I want to do it differently’ and all of a sudden they say she’s had plastic surgery!” Yes it’s so ridiculous to assume that a girl who got a boob job at 16 did something to her face a couple of years later.

Getting back to the video preview of Couple’s Therapy, it’s SO creepy when Doug snarls that he didn’t wait until Courtney was 21 to marry her because he “didn’t want to.” Then he puts his hand on her knee and it’s gross. This is why I haven’t covered these people, I just don’t like thinking about them.

At least Courtney switched out her stripper heels for another pair. Those old ones must have been getting rank. Also, I like her face now, but I wouldn’t recognize her at all if you didn’t tell me who she was and she wasn’t wearing her signature hooker look.

Cindy Crawford on aging: “I wear less makeup. It can make you look older.”

Cindy Crawford

God, I love Cindy Crawford. She was one of those amazing 1990s supermodels who actually dared to sport a little muscle on her bones, you know? Cindy always had a realistic figure and a girl-next-door-squared type of appeal, and she’s now 46 years old and still getting work, which is fairly unheard of as far as modelling is concerned. Of course, it’s very painful to remember how Cindy looked back in March when she’d done some tweaking; that is, Cindy had either indulged in an eye lift or some very aggressive Botox possibly combined with some eyelid surgery or fillers. As CB stated as well, Botox and fillers can have the paradoxical effect of making one look older, which is clearly the opposite of what one intends when consulting a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Now Cindy is, um, ignoring that little hiccup, and she’s talking out about how makeup is something to avoid because it ages the face. She sort of has a point, and the Mail points towards these photos of evidence that Cindy’s theory works, but they forgot that she’s wearing sunglasses in these photos. I’m including some pictures of Cindy without sunglasses at the bottom of this post, but here’s what she had to say about aging:

Cindy Crawford

As one of the world’s top models Cindy Crawford was used to wearing a thick face of makeup. And you might expect that as she aged she’d continue to plaster it on.

But the supermodel has revealed that she has in fact cut back on her use of war paint – and believes too much ages the face, “As I’ve gotten older I wear less makeup. It can make you look older, and hopefully we get more comfortable in our skin.”

She proved that point on Tuesday while out and about in Southern California’s most affluent city on Tuesday. The supermodel-turned-designer, 46, was casually chic in blue blouse, gray jeans and strappy heels, dark shades, tan purse and windblown hair completing her fashionable look. She wore minimal makeup, but she doesn’t really need it with that natural, earthy beauty.

Married 14 years to nightclub owner Rande Gerber, 50, and mother to two beautiful children, Kaia, 11, and Presley, 13, the world is Cindy’s catwalk.

[From Daily Mail]

I would agree that, in general, less makeup makes one look younger. One of my beauty habits is to only wear makeup (with the exception of some subtle eyeliner, which is rather indispensible but not in a Kate Middleton capacity) to a very important function or, say, out to dinner. People usually tell me that I look 25 years old without makeup, but — let’s face it — they’re full of crap since I’m 37 years old. At the same time, I don’t really mind hearing such ridiculous things. Hey, I can be vain too! So Cindy does have a point, but I find it rather unfortunate that Cindy is talking about feeling “more comfortable in our skin” when she’s clearly had some work done. Not that I can knock Cindy by any stretch — her fortune has always been her face, and it’s unfortunate that she felt the need to change her looks to keep up with the modelling industry when, obviously, she looked better before the work was done.

Here’s Cindy going (relatively) make-up free in Los Angeles on 9/11. She looks slightly less tweaked than she did last March, but she’s still not the same Cindy that she used to be.
