I know everyone has probably seen these photos of Mariah Carey and Nick “Not Good Enough to Hold The Purse” Cannon leaving a medical center in LA yesterday. Dlisted already took the perspective of “WTF is Mimi wearing?” while Bossip asked my favorite question of the week “Why The Fu*k Is Mariah Carey Always Seen Leaving A Medical Building???” Basically, there’s all kinds of wrong happening in MariahWorld.
I have to say, it was the fashion aspect that attracted me to these photos. Mariah’s rocking the kind of Walmart-fabulous ensemble that would give Karl Lagerfeld a heart attack. Why would you pair low-key sweats with clunky heels? Does Mariah not know how to walk if she’s not wearing heels? Answer: Trick question, she barely knows how to walk, period. She’s carried everywhere. Another question: Why are the sweatpants cut like that? It makes her hips and thighs look even bulkier than they already are – and we already now Mariah has gained some “happily married” weight. Mariah is starting to remind me of Edina Monsoon in Absolutely Fabulous. “Thin ankles, darling, thin ankles!”
I won’t even get into how dumb Nick looks. This is the first time I’ve looked at photos of them and thought “mother and son”. He looks a 12-year-old kid about to start whining to his mom that he wants to play ball with his boys.

Sure, we’ve all pretended not to notice. Okay, not really, we all noticed and commented on Mariah Carey’s weight gain. Much like Jessica Simpson, it’s not Mariah’s weight that offends me in any way – Mariah looks happy and God bless her. No, what offends me is that Mariah still dresses like she has her old figure – and many of those ensembles were questionable even then. But I digress – The National Enquirer has an epic story about how in the two years of blissful matrimony to Nick Cannon, Mariah has gained 57 pounds. That seems like a lot. I don’t really think it’s that much – my guess is closer to 30 pounds, but I think I might be bad at guessing weights. The Enquirer’s piece quotes extensively from a doctor who isn’t treating Mariah, and he’s basically just saying that if she eats one more cheeseburger, she’s going to die. FYI: Nick Cannon comes across in this article like a really lovely man. Here’s more:
Has Mariah Carey turned herself into a foodaholic – just a few calories away from hitting a deadly high of 200 pounds?
“Mariah looks like she has really let herself go,” revealed a source close to the singer.
Mariah has packed on a whopping 57 pounds just in the last two years, says a concerned source. And her ballooning weight – now approaching an all-time high of 192 pounds – has brought her to the brink of life-threatening medical problems, warns an expert. But pals say the hardworking diva is under tremendous stress and is resorting to food binges to relieve her frustrations.
“Turning 40 was a big thing for Mariah, and she’s been trying repeatedly to get pregnant. Combined, the two things have hit like a one-two punch and stresses her out. She is turning to food for comfort.”
To make matters worse, Nick Cannon is sending the wrong message – telling Mariah there’s “just more of her to love.”
For the past several weeks, Mariah – who turned 41 in March – has been dropping hints she may be pregnant.
“Mariah’s been coy about the whole pregnancy thing right now to deflect attention from her weight gain,” said the close source. “She doesn’t want to have to address it. And Nick keeps telling her how beautiful she looks.”
When Mariah and Nick got married, she weighed 135 pounds. But over the past two years, Mariah has been cooking mac & cheese, fried chicken, pizzas, et cetera. “Nick has even suggested that her food is so good, she should think about writing a cookbook.”
Where she once was rumored to have undergone liposuction (in the fall of 2008), now “she has turned to high-calorie late-night snacking and she’s at her heaviest weight ever. Her attitude is not to fight the weight gain, but just to go with it.”

I remember the liposuction rumor! It seemed like all of sudden, around the winter of 2008-09, Mariah’s stomach looked really flat and, like, mysteriously toned. And only her waist was small, everything else was normal Mariah-sized. By the way, doesn’t Nick sound like a lovely husband? That’s probably why Mariah has been gaining weight – because Nick adores her no matter what she weighs, and he supports her in whatever she wants. It’s kind of awesome. Who would have thought that Mariah would have such a great marriage? Now, regarding the whole “Oh my God, she’s going to die!” stuff. I don’t know, I guess people should get a grip. Sure, she could stand to lose some weight, but we don’t know everything that’s going on with her, so just leave her alone. And make her buy some clothes in her size so she won’t keep jamming herself into this stuff.

Sometimes I think derogatory things about Nick Cannon. I’ll be looking at photos of him, and I’ll mutter “Purse carrier.” Or “Mr. Mariah.” Or “You poor bastard.” But as Nick and Mariah Carey approach their second wedding anniversary, I have to admit that whatever their relationship really boils down to (purse carrying, feedings, helping her drunk ass into bed), it’s working for them. I think Nick might have actually known what he was getting into when he married Mariah. And I think that as long as he treats her right, she’s going to spoil him. Plus, it seems like both of them enjoy a sense of whimsy, an old-school joy of celebrity exploitation. They seem to think they exist as gifts for all of us to enjoy. Which they kind of are. Anyway, all of this to say that Nick just announced that he and Mariah will be having their third “wedding” for their second anniversary. They’re going to renew their vows and Mariah will probably get drunk and Nick will pour her into bed, just like their honeymoon.
So nice, they’re doing it thrice!
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon will be tying the knot for the third time on April 30, which is their two-year wedding anniversary. Expect a similar blowout in 2011, 2012 … and beyond, as long as they’re together.
“We get married every year! That’s our thing,” Cannon explained to UsMagazine.com at Monday’s PepsiCo Feed America Volunteer Day event in NYC.
“So it’s going to be our third wedding this year. That’s what we’ll be doing on the actual [anniversary]…We’ll do something…A party or event, just to celebrate.”
The Grammy-winning singer is definitely getting more bling from her spouse. Cannon confirmed to Us that he’ll be getting his wife another diamond ring for the occasion.
“That’s totally right,” he said. “This is the third ring I have to buy…It’ll be something different. Something good.”
Carey’s engagement ring from Jacob & Co. Jewelers reportedly cost $2.5 million. After dating for just six weeks in early 2008, Cannon, 29 and Carey, 40, wed on the singer’s private island in The Bahamas in a surprise bash.
“It’s nice,” Cannon gushed. “We like being married every year.”
What’s the traditional gift for the second anniversary? Pink diamonds? I wish. Or sapphires. Oh, wouldn’t that be heaven? Your husband would have to buy a different spectacular jewel for every anniversary. Oh, but Nick isn’t really shelling out his money for all of these “presents” right? Mariah buys them for herself, and Nick “gives” them to her, correct? She’s the one with the big money. Plus, she probably doesn’t let him pick anything out.

Apparently, when I thought Mariah Carey looked like she was three sheets to the wind at the Independent Spirit Awards, she was really just pregnant. Allegedly. Mariah didn’t really announce that she is pregnant, she just told journalists that she has “something special” on the way. Jeez, can you just imagine the butterfly-clad, bedazzled, tutu-wearing stork that Mariah will demand? But I digress. Mariah could be pregnant. But it’s not definite. The “something special” could be a new Barbie dress. Or a dog. Or a butterfly. Or a piece of jewelry. Or a fart. God knows, Mariah probably announced her farts that way – “I have something special coming… wait… pull my finger!” Page Six has an epic recap of Mariah’s shenanigans at the Spirit awards… and yes, “shenanigans” means, in this case, “Mariah had to be carried everywhere”.
Mariah Carey was her usual fabulous diva self backstage at the Film Independent Spirit Awards — tottering around on skyscraper heels so high she couldn’t walk and having security prop her up all night.
The star, upstaging other actresses in a tight black dress showing off her famous curves, was celebrating her cast mates from “Precious,” which swept the board at Friday night’s awards at the LA Live arena — seen as a more relaxed precursor to the Oscars.
Carey — who famously once said, “I don’t do stairs” — had personal security to help her totter onstage. And she further fuelled baby rumors by telling Page Six that she had “something special” on the way.
A source said, “Mariah came out as a presenter but she was having trouble in her heels, which were eight inches high and so spiky, she accidentally stabbed herself in one foot before she was helped onstage.”
“She seemed to be the only star hanging onto personal security. Outside the press area she seemed really giddy and was overheard saying jokingly, ‘I don’t know if I can do this!’ And she didn’t arrive and leave through an elevator like the other stars. She had a BMW limo pull right up to the stage.”
Celebrating without husband Nick Cannon backstage, Carey did nothing to stop rumors that she’s pregnant or ready to adopt, telling us, “I have a lot of new acting projects coming up. I am talking to ['Precious' director Lee Daniels] about at least three movies. But there’s also something else very special on the way. I can’t say any more.”
Now, I wouldn’t hate it if Mariah was pregnant. She would probably be a better mother than most of us would expect. That being said, I doubt it. We’ve been on Mariah bump-watch for a while, and I really just think that Mariah is too focused on her career to start a family right at this moment. And she generally doesn’t play the “am I pregnant… wait for it!” game either. She usually pretty open about her priorities (butterflies > binkies). Methinks this was all just Mariah’s way of getting attention while her Precious costars got all of the awards. Bless her heart.
One thing I will say, though, in favor of the theory that she could be pregnant – her breasts look huge. They weren’t always this big. Pregnancy boobs?

This is why I love Mariah Carey! Because she wears sh-t like this. Not only does she wear it, you know she picked it out. Because she thought that sh-t looked good on her! I can’t stop giggling. Anyway, this is Mariah performing in LA as part of her “Angels’ Advocate” tour. Note that the dress is actually a two-parter. At first, she was just wearing it as a ball gown. Then she dropped the lower part of the skirt to reveal that the dress was really a totally nightmarish ‘80s inspired cocktail dress. Oh, Mimi. You crazy bitch.
Mariah Carey may have admitted ‘gaining a few pounds’ since her marriage to Nick Cannon, but she clearly isn’t ashamed of her curvier physique. Performing at the latest stop on her Angels’ Advocate Tour in Los Angeles last night, Carey showed off her figure in all its glory in a figure-hugging gold dress.
The two-piece dress, which started as a billowing ball gown before a section was whipped off to reveal a ruffled mini, appeared slightly too small for her ample curves. Clearly feeling confident with her figure, Carey showed off her tanned legs in a pair of silver sequinned £775 pair of Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels as she performed with her troupe of hunky dancers at the Gibson Amphitheatre.
Carey descended on the stage sitting in a swing in the huge ballgown, before her dancers whipped off the skirt to reveal the mini underneath. The dress was a gold variation of an outfit she has worn at previous concerts, which have also been made in white and lilac.
Speaking last summer, she admitted her happy marriage to toyboy husband Nick Cannon, 29, had affected her waistline. She said: ‘I’m a curvy girl and switch around with my diets all the time.’
When she first started dating Nick in March 2008, she was slim and toned and weighed around 130lbs thanks to daily workout sessions in her swimming pool.
Mariah admitted last year she had put on ‘few pounds’, but said she planned to resume her fitness plan again. Writing on her Twitter micro-blogging page last month, Mariah denied reports she was pregnant: ‘If I gained a few pounds… My trainer’s back living with me.’
Despite her good intentions, her husband didn’t help things by buying her tons of sweets for Valentine’s Day. The romantic singer/actor appealed to his wife’s sweet tooth by plying her with Rice Krispie treats, gummi worms, Runts, and Now and Laters that he picked up from a special ‘sweet suite’ in New York’s Renaissance Hotel, which was filled with over 300lbs of sweets.
Carey’s 22-date North American tour kicked off in New York on New Year’s Eve and set to end in Las Vegas this weekend. When she completes her tour and completes her next album, Carey has hinted she may try and start a family with her husband.
He said recently: ‘We absolutely plan to have a family. But we gotta prioritize, because that’s a major, major priority. That’s like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family. We want to make sure everything is out of the way and that we don’t have any distractions. We’re definitely moving toward [having children]. We got our house in LA, and we got a house [in New York], established and close to schools. So we take all of that stuff into consideration.’
Part of the reason I like Mariah so much (beyond the fact that she’s a crazy and hilarious diva who refuses to even deign to sit on a couch without needing her entourage) is that she’s still convinced she looks fabulous even though she’s put on some very noticeable weight. And you know what? She still does look fabulous. True, she should choose better clothes for her expanding diva figure, but I think she still looks good.

Mariah Carey has been the victim of a whirlwind of pregnancy rumors every since she married Nick Cannon. I’ve even fallen for it a few times, thinking that this or that report was probably true, and I keep waiting for the announcement. However, at this point it seems to me like Mariah isn’t all that interested in getting pregnant (at least not in the foreseeable future). But now Nick has given a new interview where he talks about their baby-making plans, claiming that a baby is a “major, major priority” and “like the only priority in life.” Uh-oh. I don’t think Mariah will be happy about this:

“We absolutely plan to have a family,” Nick Cannon, 29, told MTV News of his wife of nearly two years, Mariah Carey, 40.
“But we gotta prioritize, because that’s a major, major priority,” continued Cannon, who currently hosts America’s Got Talent.
“That’s like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family,” he added. “We wanna make sure everything is out of the way and that we don’t have any distractions.”
Getting pregnant may have to wait until Carey is done touring to promote her newest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Cannon said.
“She’s on tour right now, I’m doing a bunch of stuff, so eventually we want to be able to say, ‘It’s time to have a kid,’ and set everything up,” Cannon said.
“But we’re definitely moving toward [having children]. We got our house in L.A., and we got a house [in New York], established and close to schools,” he went on. “So we take all of that stuff into consideration.”
Oh, so “eventually” they’ll have a kid. Here’s the thing: I don’t blame Mariah at all for focusing on her career. She’s never been all gooey and gushy about babies and she’s never really played the “I’m ready to have a baby, wait for it, in a minute” game. She’s always made it pretty clear that her career is her priority, and that if she ever becomes a mother, it’s going to be years down the road. So… why not say right now that Mariah and Nick will eventually adopt? I think that would be really nice, if they just came out and said “Given everything we’ve got going on, we think adoption would be our best option, and that’s what we’re planning on in the years to come.”

I don’t even know how to describe this mess of a video from Mariah Carey. This is her new single “Up Out My Face”. What is with the 40-something divas and their hatred of “of”? First Jennifer Lopez’s “genius” single “Fresh Out The Oven” and now this. Damn it, I like “of”. “Of” is an important word.
Michael K at D-listed called this video “a Target commercial specifically aimed at wig-wearing women who spend all their coins on plastic surgery and only surround themselves with drag queens and make-up artists (aka Lil’ Kim).” And now I can’t get “Target commercial” stuck out my head. See? Needs an “of”. You miss the “of”. But yeah, Target commercial. I wonder if they got the same director?
Just a few quick shots: Mariah as a sl-tty nurse? What is she, a college girl dressing up for a kegger? Mariah as a Barbie doll? Ugh… sure. Actually, that one’s not a horrible idea. It’s past time for Mariah to have her own Barbie. Here’s the thing though – the imagery of this video has literally nothing to do with the song. Mariah just uses her videos to play out her juvenile dress-up fantasies. Oh, Mariah. You need to get up out my face.
Two nights ago, Mariah Carey got her first big acting award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. While most of us thought “Mariah? Seriously? What kind of insanely tight butterfly dress will she be wearing?” we missed out on the hilarity. You see, Mariah was totally wasted when she went up to collect her award. She was so sh-tfaced she could barely finish a sentence, she began clapping for no reason, and she was basically a big mess. As I mentioned yesterday, I’ll give Mariah Carey credit for being a happy, funny drunk. But I do not give her credit for trying to pretend that alcohol-socked speech was the result of “splashes of champagne.” Oh, yes. Because that’s all it takes for butterflies.
Mariah is blaming it on the alcohol.
At Wednesday’s People’s Choice Awards, the diva, 45, was asked about her sloshy speech Tuesday at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards gala.
“I don’t even know what it was,” she told reporters. “I heard clapping. You know, Lee [Michaels, Precious director] and I hadn’t seen each other in a long time, and he started right in with all these inside jokes, and I was like, OK.
“We were celebrating and having little splashes, and I hadn’t eaten, and that’s what it was. We were celebrating the movie and all the exciting stuff going on. There’s a time for celebration and a time for not – but really technically, it’s a party atmosphere. We had splashes of champagne. I love Lee, but he’s a bad influence.”
Carey was the butt of jokes by Sean Penn and Jason Reitman, director of Up In the Air.
“I think it feels just as good as Mariah Carey feels right now,” Reitman joked onstage while accepting an award at the show. “I should really leave now. I don’t think it gets better than that.”
I would respect Mariah more if just came out and said, “I was drunk, and it was fun, stop being such bitches.” But no! It has to be someone’s fault, as if getting drunk at an awards show is some kind of crime: “I love Lee, but he’s a bad influence.” Or am I wrong? Is Mimi such a lightweight that she only needs to drink a few splashes of champagne and her butterfly is praying to porcelain gods?

Okay, this footage is pretty amazing. Last night, Mariah Carey attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival to receive her award for Breakthrough Actress for Precious. I have no idea what kind of liquor they were serving, or even what kind of crazy pink, glittery, butterfly concoction Mariah is capable of getting hammered on, but whatever it was, Mimi was totally sh-tfaced by the time she accepted her award. Mariah Carey lived up to her sometimes loopy reputation at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards gala as the teetering diva gave a long, rambling acceptance speech after being named Breakthrough Actress for her performance in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”
Carey, in a skin-tight, black-beaded full-length Herve Leger gown, was escorted onto the stage Tuesday night, and at the podium, greeted her presenter and “Precious” director Lee Daniels with a little dance and a big hug.
Carey hesitated for a few seconds, looked to the ceiling, sighed and said, “Please forgive me, because I’m a little bit, um …” An audience member finished the sentence for her with an obscenity, to which Carey replied, “Yeah!” adding a long, hearty laugh.
“Oooooooh, my goodness!” she bellowed.
For the next few minutes, Carey rambled on about first reading “Push,” about meeting author Sapphire, and about meeting one of the night’s other honorees, Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren, whom Daniels said turned down the “Precious” role.
In the midst of praising Daniels’ work, Carey spontaneously burst into applause.
“Sorry,” she told Daniels. “Sometimes I get a little …” Carey then stopped cold to snap her fingers, then added “… you know, difficult.” And then she giggled again.
Carey went on to share a story about how Daniels told her to play the part, he needed her to listen to listen to her. She was trying to elaborate, and couldn’t come up with the words. She motioned to her face and said, “What do you call it?” When Daniels said he told her to remove her makeup, she said, “You could take my makeup off and I don’t look like that (expletive) from the thing,” referring to her “Precious” character. “Oh, god,” Daniels moaned, turning away from Carey.
A full minute before Carey and Daniels finally left the stage, the audience had begun to applaud them off. “I thank you all for all listening to my little spiel,” Carey said, wearily, “and god bless you.”
Seconds later, host Mary Hart did her best to bring the ceremony back to Earth. “Who says we don’t have fun here?” Hart asked, with a huge smile. The evening’s other winners included “Up in the Air” director Jason Reitman, “Up in the Air” actress Anna Kendrick, “Hurt Locker” actor Jeremy Renner and “Inglourious Basterds” director Quentin Tarantino. Mirren was honored with a Career Achievement Award.
Carey didn’t return to the stage Tuesday night, but her presence was felt for the remainder of the night. Before handing out a music award to songwriter-producer T Bone Burnett, actor Sean Penn quipped, “Think anything’s going to make YouTube tonight?”
Oh, f-ck, Dame Helen Mirren was there? You know she had a laugh. Also, I want Mariah’s slurred “Oh my goodness!” to be my ringtone. To give Mimi some credit, she seems like a very happy, chilled out drunk, and she was probably a lot of fun last night. I wonder if she got sick when she got home? You know that was probably a mess. Bless her heart. I love Mariah.

Nick Cannon has a brief video interview on People’s website in which he talks about how he keeps the romance alive in his nearly two year marriage to Mariah Carey. It’s kind of cute and you can tell that he adores Mariah. These two get a lot of flack for the way that Nick seems to be at Mariah’s beck and call, but he seems to be more than happy with his role in the relationship. He told People that he loves to give Mariah notes and flowers and that they have a lot of fun together. He also seemed in awe of her celebrity and said “there’s no one more famous than Mariah.”
I think my wife is the most famous woman in the world. If you want to contest that, help me out. I don’t know anyone that’s known from eight to eighty. I’ve yet to meet someone more famous than Mariah Carey.
How do we keep the sparks flying? Lots of kerosene. [laughs] At the end of the day we’re two silly lovebirds that love to have fun. Hopeless romantics. I’m always writing cards, sending letters and flowers. That’s what love is about.
We like to live out the fairy tale romantic comedy type of story… We’re a romantic comedy with a very happy ending.
That’s sickly sweet but nice at the same time. Of course life with Mariah would be a fairy tale with a lot of high priced accessories and kowtowing. She’s a huge diva and she wants things just so. Nick seems to put his wife on a pedestal and she’s probably thrilled with that. I give them two more years, but I never would have predicted they would have lasted this long either.
