Matt Bomer, his partner Simon Hall & their son Kit support the Revlon Run-Walk

These are some new photos of Matt Bomer and his family at Saturday’s Revlon Run-Walk in LA. Bomer has been in a relationship with his partner, Simon Hall, for years and years – that‘s Simon in the navy windbreaker. Doesn’t Simon look a bit like Tim DeKay? I actually thought it was Tim DeKay for a moment. Anyway, Simon and Matt have three children together, and the little blonde boy is their son Kit. Before Bomer got White Collar, he was an openly gay actor, but for the first few years of White Collar, Bomer seemed to go into “the glass closet,” never speaking about his long-term partner (who is also his publicist) or their family. But! Back in February of this year, Bomer did make a public speech in which he spoke about his partner and their family, and after that, every media outlet was running “Matt Bomer comes out of the closet” stories.

Anyway, I just liked these photos. I like that Matt Bomer is participating in a celebrity run-walk for a women’s cancer research and awareness – he’s doing it for the sisters! And I like that Matt’s partner and son came out too, and that no one felt weird about being photographed. How cute is Kit, by the way? That boy is going to grow up to be a heartbreaker.

Matt Bomer is totally gay, but didn’t everyone know that already?

Pretty much every time I’ve written about Matt Bomer, even in passing, in a post about another celebrity, I’ve mentioned that he’s gay. I’ve mentioned it because I always thought that it was worth saying, because there was some misinformation about him, and because Bomer lived in “the glass closet.” He never lied about being gay, and before White Collar, he was an openly gay actor. Once he got White Collar, something happened and suddenly Bomer didn’t answer any questions about his sexuality or his personal life. Throughout it all, though, everyone and anyone paying the slightest bit of attention knew that he had a long-time partner, Simon Halls, and that they have three children together.

I’m bringing up this back story because, as I’m sure you’ve seen by now, every media outlet is running “Matt Bomer comes out of the closet!” stories. For why? Because Bomer finally said something publicly about his partner and his kids:

Matt Bomer has dodged rumors about his sexual orientation for years, but on Saturday, the White Collar star came out publicly at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards. The 34-year-old was honored with the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for his work in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

“I’d really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry,” Bomer told the crowd. “Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment.”

Bomer’s partner is Slate PR publicist Simon Halls, who represents Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy and How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris.

In January 2010, Details magazine asked Bomer if he paid attention to rumors regarding his sexual orientation. “I don’t care about that at all,” he responded. “I’m completely happy and fulfilled in my personal life.”

“I have a network and a show riding on my shoulders. I would say a big difference between my character and me is that I can be too trusting. And I’ve realized in this business, that’s not necessarily the smartest thing to be,” Bomer added. “I definitely have a thing or two to learn from the con artists.”

Bomer will next appear opposite Mark Ruffalo and Alec Baldwin in Larry Kramer’s upcoming HIV/AIDS drama The Normal Heart. He is also part of the male stripper movie Magic Mike, costarring Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer.

[From Us Weekly]

See, my problem is that I just don’t think this should be considered “coming out of the closet.” Nor do I feel that Bomer “dodged rumors” about his sexuality. EVERYBODY KNEW. All of the editors at all of the media outlets reporting this story KNEW he was gay, and they had likely dealt with his publicist/partner too. Bomer didn’t hide it. He just never answered questions about it before. He’s not answering questions about it now, either.

Anyway, even though White Collar producers and the USA network might be panicking right now, I hope they stand by Bomer and realize that fans of the show will stick with it. It’s like the Neil Patrick Harris situation – NPH is beloved because he’s so talented, and his talent erases a lot of preconceived bigotry fans might have. Bomer will be the same – people love him, he’s an underrated actor, he’s beautiful, he’s got a great singing voice, and he’s always going to find work.

Henry Cavill publicly mistaken for Matt Bomer: who would you rather?

These are some new photos of Henry Cavill, our newest Superman, at LAX. Unfortunately for Henry’s career, Fame/Flynet Pictures labeled these pics “Matt Bomer”. OUCH. Now, I don’t have a reason to dislike Henry Cavill – I know there’s some minor sketchiness in his personal life, but all in all, he seems like a handsome, talented, albeit boring beefcake. Is that the problem? The Boring Factor? Photo agencies don’t remember his name because, really, who does? Is he too vanilla? Does he need to shake it up?

And so, by comparison, I’m including photos of Matt Bomer. I tend to find Matt more attractive and more talented, but that may because I’m a fan of White Collar (the winter premiere this week sucked, though). Matt and Henry do look similar, I guess. They could be vaguely related – Matt is the Pretty Brother, Henry is the Beefcake Brother. Except that Matt has a really great body too, he’s just not as beefcakey and look-at-my-pecs as Henry. Matt also has a less “vanilla” image – it’s an open secret that he’s gay, and that he and his partner have a family. He’s got street cred! Or whatever.

So… I’m just writing this because it’s really slow today, but you guys seem to enjoy posts about hot dudes, so I hope you won’t complain. If given a choice – and this is just in your fantasies, where Bomer is straight – who would you rather? For me, it’s Bomer. I just feel like Henry is oddly asexual. Not unlike Jake Gyllenhaal, who I simply can’t imagine in any kind of sexual situation, ever.

Matt Bomer works the hell out of a suit: too pretty or just perfect?

Here are some new photos of the always lovely Matt Bomer at last night’s LA premiere of In Time. He’s just so, so beautiful. I’m not attracted to him in a “He needs to see my vagina, STAT!” kind of way, but I do love looking at him. Previously, I had been a casual fan of White Collar, but I recently got the first two seasons on DVD, and now I’m a total fan-girl for him (and Tim DeKay). The Bomer has “it” – the indefinable, watchable quality that movie stars have. I just enjoy his face and his body so much. And the man can wear the hell out of a suit – go and look at what Justin Timberlake looked like at the premiere. The Bomer OWNED it.

To promote In Time, Matt has been giving some interviews, obviously. When he sat down to talk with MTV, he ended up discussing the Steven Soderbergh project, Magic Mike. That’s the film which is loosely based on Channing Tatum’s early years as a male stripper – Channing stars in the film as well, as does Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and Matthew McConaughey. At first I was like, “A movie about male strippers based on Channing Tatum? Meh.” But the more I hear about it, the better it sounds. Of course, it also sounds like there’s going to be a lot of dancing and dongs, so… I’m already buying the DVD. The Bomer told MTV:

MTV News recently caught up with Matt Bomer at the press day for his upcoming film, “In Time,” and I couldn’t resist asking about the true magic of this film.

“It was criminal man, we had a blast. There’s a new band of brothers in town,” Matt said of bonding with his co-stars. “There something about having to throw a thong on in front of other people that just instantly forms an ensemble. We had a great time. I really think there hasn’t really been a movie like this before, and we did it all on a G-string budget,” he said with a smile. “I’m excited to see what people think.”

Speaking of those G-strings, I asked Matt if he or his co-stars picked up any new tricks or interesting facts with regard to the makeup and wardrobe required for strippers. He answered that question with the most entertaining story I’ve heard in a while.

“I think most importantly for me, it was figuring out how to put on a thong. The first time I tried, I had never worn a thong before, so the first time I tried it I put it on wrong and my junk didn’t fit in it,” he said with a laugh. “I had to call a wardrobe person in, ‘Something is wrong with my thong, you guys. I think we are gonna have to figure this out,’ and they’re like, ‘Yeah your legs are in the wrong holes.’ That was step one. No, there weren’t that many tricks going on, it was sort of a lot of tear-away clothes you know. There’s definitely a technique to make sure you get those off cleanly.”

[From MTV]

The Bomer is a man of many talents (singing, stunt work, looking pretty, plus he’s a decent actor), so is it too much to hope that he’ll be wearing lots of tear-away pants and he’ll be doing a lot of hip thrusts? I’m already preparing to squeal. It’s going to be so awesome.

Oh, and Joe Manganiello recently discussed his role in the film too – he’s playing “Big Dick Richie”! When asked about full-frontal, he said: “You are going to see…I mean…. No, no full frontal! But his name is Big Dick Richie for a reason.” He also said that he and The Bomer are tight from back in the day: “I knew Matt Bomer because we went to drama school at Carnegie Mellon together. We were in all the same classes! There were only 21 of us. Matt came to my mom’s house for Thanksgiving one year. We were buds!”

Here’s video of Matt’s MTV interview:
