Matthew McConaughey has recorded a new radio ad for the National Cattleman’s Beef Association and after listening to it I want to savor a filet mignon and touch myself.

Here’s a link to the audio for the ad.

He says: “You see those hickory smoke signals? That’s a sure sign it’s grilling season in the land of lean beef. Some strip steaks sizzling, tantalizing the entire suburb. That delicious aroma is all the motivation you need to seek out its source. Because out here a neighbor is just a friend you haven’t fed yet. Discover the power of protein in the land of lean beef. Beef, it’s what’s for dinner.”

With those few words, McConaughey has conjured up images of luring me to his trailer with the smell of grilling meat, sometime in the pre-Camila era. Fantasy is always sexier than reality, though. We published photos of McConaughey grilling last year and he looked pretty scruffy and was likely stinking of b.o. at the time. But he’s cleaned up now that he has a girlfriend and a new baby. I can always eat a burger and dream.

OK! Magazine has new details of McConaughey’s newborn baby, Levi. They say he “has his dad’s curls and his mom’s dark hair.” They also say Matt is helping out with changing the baby and giving him baths in order to give Camila a break. The upcoming issue of OK! features Jessica Alba and her baby Honor on the cover. McConaughey reportedly made a $3 million deal with the magazine for exclusive photos of Levi. He’s only a week and a half old at this point so it may be a little while before he makes his debut.

I’ve decided that my long-term financial plan is to either be famous or marry someone famous, and then pop out as many kids as I can so I can sell their photos to OK! and In Touch for a couple million each. I won’t act or sing or anything once I have the kids. I’ll just use childbirth as a way to make a lot of money. Sure my plan is fraught with holes, but I think it’s still the most solid thing I’ve come up with in months. And considering how much money celebs are raking in for their newborns, why wouldn’t this be a good idea?

Our spies tell us OK! mag will shell out $3 mil for the first pics of young Levi, who was just born Monday night. And that’s not all — we’re told that the deal includes baby’s first Christmas as well.

We also hear OK! gets first right to the pics of the wedding if Matt and Cam get married — though they’ll have to pay extra for those snaps.

Pre-selling baby’s first Christmas is pretty masterful. Doesn’t that sound like a cute ornament to put on the tree? There can be the traditional carriage ornament for baby’s first big holiday, and then another one shaped like a dollar bill that says “Baby’s First $500,000 in the bank.” How sweet. TMZ doesn’t make any mention of what Matt and longtime girlfriend Camila Alves plan on doing with the cash. Hopefully they’ll either donate it to a charity or put it away for baby Levi.

I’m still wondering what celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie, and Christina Aguilera did with their hefty baby photo millions. Unlike a lot of other celebs, I haven’t heard any mention of the money going to good deeds, which makes me think it’s probably going into luxury real estate or handbags.

Now that OK! Magazine has the exclusive first story that Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have named their first child Levi, I think there’s little doubt that we can look forward to seeing the baby’s debut in the pages of OK!.

I figured Matt might name his kid after some moderately obscure God of leisure, but no, he named him after the world’s most famous brand of jeans. They have a biblical explanation for choosing the name, though, and Matt explains that Levi is another name for the apostle Matthew, and that his son was born at a very significant time. Alves is Levi’s middle name, and he will not have a hyphenated last name.

Explaining how they came up with the name for their baby boy, Matthew tells OK!, “Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person.

“Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.’”

Baby Levi’s middle name is taken directly from his mother Camila’s last name. “We wanted to incorporate her family name,” explains the proud new father.

To all the well-wishers and fans, Matthew and Camila have also released the following statement:

“We welcome Levi Alves McConaughey into this wonderful life and look forward to living in it with him. In the mean time and all times, just keep livin’.”

Camila’s full name is so regal-sounding. I love those multiple South American names, like in a Gabriel García Marquéz novel.

Considering that Matt has an older brother who named his kid “Miller Lyte” in a warped tribute to his favorite brand of beer, Levi isn’t that bad a choice. It’s like Matt figured he may as well honor his jeans as well as the bible. Because kids bring an element of the sacred to everyday life.

Matthew McConaughey’s son and Nicole Kidman’s daughter, Sunday, share the same Monday birthday of 7/7/08. Matthew and his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camila Alves, welcomed a baby boy at 6:22 p.m. in LA yesterday, reports People Magazine. McConaughey’s rep confirmed the birth, and said the newborn weighed 7 lbs., 4 oz. There is no word yet as to the baby’s name.

In recent interviews McConaughey spoke candidly about looking forward to being a father and having an active role in his child’s life. He called fatherhood his next journey, saying “to be the architect of a little creature’s life is my next big adventure and I can’t wait for it to begin.” When asked what he’s looking forward to he said “every single day” and that he’ll definitely be changing diapers. Matthew seems like he’ll be an attentive and enthusiastic dad.

Congratulations to Camila and Matthew and best wishes for a wonderful life with their new addition.

Update: OK! Magazine had this exclusive statement from Matthew McConaughey. Do you think that means they’ve already negotiated a deal for the photos?

“A healthy baby boy was born,” Matthew tells OK! in an exclusive statement. “Camila and I were side by side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world — Having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure — raising one, together.”

According to several websites, a paparazzo trying to take shots of Matthew McConaughey was attacked by a roving pack of surfers. Okay not roving. But it sounds much scarier that way. It’s hard to make surfers sound threatening, and that’s really the only way I can explain this story. The photographer was assaulted, and his presumably expensive camera was thrown into the ocean. Matthew McConaughey had nothing to do with the attack. Unless he surreptitiously summoned the surfers with some kind of signal.

A paparazzo trying to photograph Matthew McConaughey at the beach told police he was attacked by a mob of surfers who threw his camera in the ocean. The 29-year-old photojournalist told sheriff’s deputies that a large group of surfers near Paradise Cove in Malibu approached him and other paparazzi about 2 p.m. Saturday and demanded the group stop taking pictures and filming.

The celebrity Web site TMZ.com posted a video Sunday showing about a dozen young men in swimsuits approaching what appears to be a group of paparazzi and yelling and swearing at them. A scuffle breaks out after one of the photographers exchanges insults with the group and at first refuses their orders to leave.

“I’ll give you a thousand bucks if you leave right now,” one of the young men in swimsuits tells the photographers. Another shoves a photographer filming the scene, and still another says, “We’ll draw a line in the beach, and we’ll fight for the beach. If you guys win, you can have the beach.”

When one member of the group shouts at a photographer, “Get a … real job,” the photographer replies, “This is a real job. What do you do?” The man replies: “I just drink beer and party.”

I just laughed my ass off. “We’ll draw a line in the beach, and we’ll fight for the beach?” Then we’ll have a dance-off, and whoever loses has to burn their leather jacket, and can never dance again! A line in the beach? I love that it’s not a line in the sand. Which would have been MUCH better. I had no idea surfers were so protective of their kind. Matthew McConaughey clearly has some really great friends. Anyone who would have a beach-off is someone worthy of adding to your entourage, my friend.

Note by Celebitchy: TMZ has the video, and you can see a pack of a dozen or so surfers walking over to the paps. They say “get a real f’ing jog” and start arguing. One guy says he called the cops, and you can hear the photographers shouting back in British and Scottish accents. One Scottish photographer says “This is public property. This is a job, what do you do?” Toward the end you can see a guy hitting a photographer with what looks like a baseball bat. The man gets up and staggers away and the video ends.

Actor and dad-to-be Matthew McConaughey blew off some major steam earlier this month in a small Nicaraguan bar. It’s no secret that Matty boy likes to get his party on. A man with a pregnant model girlfriend at home has to be careful not to drink too much and hit on women in a public place, so it makes sense that he’d head to South America to do his partying rather than stumbling down Sunset Boulevard. Unfortunately for him, the other bargoers in Nicaragua had access to camera phones to document his evening of drunken groping, and these photos wound up in the hands of Star magazine.

With his first child due to arrive any day now, you’d think Matthew McConaughey would be at home around the clock nesting with gal pal Camila Alves. Not quite. The Fool’s Gold star was in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, on June 6 drinking himself into a near-stupor at the Iguana Bar, while groping and hitting on a number of women, Star has learned.

“He was acting like an out-of-control 18-year-old,” claims an eyewitness who was at the bar. “He already seemed to be drunk when he arrived alone, and he only got worse from there on. He was putting the make on every woman in his path, throwing his arms around them and trying to kiss them, and trying to dirty-dance with a few out on the floor. But he was a mess, slurring his words and stumbling around.

“A few minutes after he finally left the bar, someone found him searching through a sewage ditch outside. When they asked him what he was doing, he mumbled, ‘I’ve lost my flip-flops!’”

Wow - that’s a night that sounds like the inspiration for a Jimmy Buffet song! Look, everyone has the right to get stinkin’ drunk once in a while– even a guy with a kid on the way. Especially a guy with a kid on the way. As for the claims that he was groping and kissing girls in the bar, the photos in Star don’t concretely back that up. If anything, the girls in the photos look a lot more aggressive toward Matthew than he does toward them. Still, if I were his 9-months-preggers girlfriend back home, I might be a little upset.

Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend, Camila Alves, were seen out at a Houston Dodgers/Los Angeles Astros baseball game in LA on Mother’s Day. Camila was holding a pink baseball bat from the gift shop, which might indicate that she’s expecting a girl. Camila is due in July.

OK! Magazine reports that Matt plans to be a stay at home dad and has cleared his work schedule to be there for the baby:

“Matt joked if he wasn’t careful he’s wake up bald and old and having missed out on years of his kid’s life that he couldn’t get back,” a friend of the actor tells OK!.

Matthew, 38, hopes to be Mr. Mom after model-fiancee Camila Alves, 24, gives birth this summer. “He’s intent on being there for his kid the way his parents were for him,” says the friend.

“Camila’s enjoying the idea of having him around. The two are busy picking out baby names!”

Star Magazine reported in its recent issue that McConaughey would do pushups and workout between scenes on the set of his film Ghosts of Girlfriends Past in Boston this April. They quote a witness who says “He’d jump down and do a set of push-ups. He was dressed really nice, but he didn’t seem to care!”

McConaughey is also rumored to be in consideration for the lead of Captain America in an upcoming film version of the popular comic.

There’s not a lot of gossip about Matt because he’s been laying low and staying in with his girlfriend as they prepare for their new baby. Congratulations to them. McConaughey certainly seems excited about their upcoming arrival, and he’s sure to be a devoted father.

Neither Kate Hudson or Matthew McConaughey was looking their best at the London premiere of their adventure caper Fool’s Gold last night. Hudson was swimming in a sea green silk John Galliano kimono-like dress while McConaughey’s hair looked more suited for a sock hop than a 2008 film premiere. He must be in that awkward stage between clean cut and scruffy, desperately trying to grow his hair out but unable to style it other than to poof it up.

Hudson gave an interview at the premiere last night and explained that she has green eyes and really hates it when she sees them airbrushed blue on the covers of magazines. From the way she phrased her answer, it sounds like someone specifically asked her about airbrushing:

“I just tend to let those things go. I can’t tell you how many covers of magazines I’ve been on when my eyes were blue.

“I don’t have blue eyes. I have green eyes. So, you just kind of go with it, you know, it’s like it is what it is and that’s what people do, you know.”

Hudson also said that she drives McConaughey crazy when she’s late for interviews they’re doing together, and McConaughey said that they’re good friends that drive each other crazy:

“He can’t stand it when I’m late,” she explained. “It drives him crazy when I’m late. And every time I come to an appointment he just looks at me and he tells me I’m tardy.

“Every time I’m, like, ten minutes late, he pulls this little face.”

But Hudson’s lack of punctuality will not prevent McConaughey from making a third film with her, the Texan actor said at the premiere at London’s Vue West End cinema.

“We are super close and we just, for some reason, really connected from the first movie we did,” he revealed.

“It continues and, like any good relationship you have with your friends, it can drive you a little crazy… We drive each other crazy, but in a good way - in a sort of loving way.”

I wouldn’t mind it if I was a starlet who had my fat and fine lines smoothed out for magazine covers as long as it wasn’t too obvious, but you can see how Hudson gets annoyed that they make her eyes blue. Why would they do that? Aren’t green eyes pretty too? I zoomed in on Hudson’s face and her eyes are lovely but the color isn’t that deep. Maybe editors think that the eyes should “pop” more to sell copies. It looks like no body feature is immune on the covers of magazines. The results are just an ideal version of an already gorgeous person. The emotional part of me sees those magazine covers and thinks I need to get my teeth bleached, get botox and lose 15 pounds while my logical mind fights to tell me that it’s all the magic of Photoshop. It’s hard to escape those fake images of women staring back at you perfectly, accusingly.

Also doesn’t McConaughey seem like the person most likely to be late among these two? I’m kind of surprised that mr. laid back natural smell is punctual enough to care if someone else is ten minutes late.

It seems that Matthew McConaughey has his life all planned out – the important parts at least. Though he’s made it clear he has no plans to drop the nude bongo drum sessions, he seems to have settled down in preparation of impending fatherhood with his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camila Alves. Not that I’m judging on the bongos, mind you. Matthew gave a pretty interesting and revealing interview to the Daily Mail, in which he talked about his parents’ marriage (they broke up and remarried each other THREE times), how he wants to die, why he’ll be a great dad, and what he’d like to come back as in his next life.

My father died right after making love to his wife, and I can’t think of a better way to go. My dad always said to me, “Boy, when I get out of here, I betcha I’ll be making love to your mother.” I hope my own death is way down the line, but when it happens, that’s my preferred exit strategy. But let’s not rush it, eh?

My parents married each other twice and divorced three times. I’ve no plans to repeat the experiment – in relationships, I prefer the long, slow train ride to the rollercoaster. I don’t think my folks wanted the rollercoaster either: they were simply the classic example of, “Can’t live with you, can’t live without you”. They hated the breaking up, but they really loved the getting back together, as they could enjoy the courtship all over again. I love that courtship period as much as anyone. I never want it to end. I never want to feel like the girl has me in the palm of her hand.

I’ve been preparing for fatherhood since the age of ten. Bringing a baby into the world is something I’ve always wanted and now I’m completely ready for my life to start revolving around another human being. I carefully maintain relationships and friendships. I’m committed to my acting career. But to be the architect of a little creature’s life is my next big adventure and I can’t wait for it to begin.

And if you were sitting around, aching to know what animal Matthew plans to come back as in his next life – it’s a panther. He says they’re “the coolest animals in the world.” He noted that they’re very poised, and mentioned, “I’d sure love to be that well designed.” I don’t want to argue with someone so freakishly hot, but I’d bet that a lot of people would argue that he’s about as well designed as a human physically can be. It’s very cute that Matthew says he’s been training to be a dad since he was ten. He has a cute way of speaking. Never have I thought of a father as being the “architect of a little creature’s life,” but it’s absolutely true. Though he’s known for being incredibly laid back – he mentioned in the interview that he’d played the bongos naked at least five hundred times before he was caught, and had no plans to tone it down – he seems like he’ll be a really good dad. He doesn’t seem the type to set up arbitrary rules just to assert his power, but also appears to be the kind of guy that’ll step in when he needs to.

Matthew McConaughey’s gorgeous pregnant girlfriend, Camila Alves, seems to share his lackadaisical approach to personal hygiene. McConaughey is known for going au natural and has not worn deodorant in 20 years. He told Playboy magazine that he refused to put on a rock crystal deodorant that his costar Kate Hudson tried to get him to wear while they were filming Fool’s Gold.

Now In Touch is reporting that part of the reason that Matthew loves his pregnant girlfriend, Bralizian model Camila, is because she can also go without a shower for a week. Lest you think they’re making that up, it’s an actual quote from one of Camila’s business associates on her new handmade leather purse line:

“He said he finally met a girl who can go without a shower for a week - someone he can go mountain climbing and hiking with,” Pamela DePalma, president of DePalma Enterprises, which represents Camila’s new venture MUXO handbags tells In Touch. “Camila is incredibly easygoing.”

Camila’s business associate also says that it was McConaughey who first noticed Camila and asked her to have a drink with him.

“He chose her, she didn’t chose him,” she adds. “She was at a restaurant in LA and he walked up to her. He introduced himself, and said he would love to have her come join him for his favorite drink - a margarita - and they had a great friendship to star.”

And In Touch also talked to Camila’s manager, who hinted that a surprise marriage might be in the cards for the stinky sweethearts:

But with the baby due in July, the couple have no been talking about tying the knot. Camila’s manager, Shabi Shahryar, tells In Touch: “You never know. I mean, the pregnancy was a surprise, so why not a surprise marriage?”

McConaughey is excited to be a father and is serving as Camila’s Lamaze coach. He says he’s going to be a hands-on dad and will change diapers. It sounds like their child won’t be forced to take a bath as often as the average kid, and he or she will probably be grateful for that. I know that my son hates getting his hair washed and will do just about anything to avoid it.
